Here you will be able to see all the feddbacks of real people who are buying the services of Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic (Museum) around Lunenburg area (Canada).
As of day the firm gets a score of 4.4 over 5 and that score has been based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that it reaches an feddbacks average is quite high, and it is founded on a large number of opinions, so we may conclude that the score is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to place scores when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Museum is classified in the category of Museum.
Lots of interesting exhibits. Elevator was handy - large enough to accommodate a large stroller.
Sea food was absolutely amazing
Nice aquarium. Lots to do for the kids.
We very much enjoyed the fisheries museum. It was much better than we ever expected.
Just excellent, a must see!!
Interesting and amazing staff! The boats are great to explore and learn about.
Fantastic museum to learn more about the Bluenose, you know the sail boat on our $0.10. A great lesson of courage and tenacity. If you're in Lunenburg, you have to spare 2 hours to visit this museum.
museum staff were all very friendly and of course extremely knowledgeable! my kids 9,12 and 15 all loved it and had lots of fun. Great that there's a aquarium part, artifacts on 3 floors plus 2 boats on water you can board and explore! my son lost his sunglasses and within minutes entire staff notified over radios and found! highly recommend
Great museum, cool live fish and lots of artifacts from the boats and information about the fisherman.
Such a great museum if you're a curious person!! Very Helpful + humerous staff and attached is the restaurant with awesome steamed lobster (and by awesome I mean both huge and delicious) *highlights: Bluenose artifacts and info / Sailors Memorial ♡ RIP
Good coverage of the entire history from the First Nations time onward. A small aquarium. Three floors of exhibits plus some ships.
I saw it from outside, it has a very nice location.
Tells a tale we must remember to move ahead
Informative, lots to look at. Great place to stop for people who already know a bit of the history and want to dive in further, or for fresh eyes looking to see the history of one of Canada's prime industries.
The staff were amazing. They talked with the love of Lunenburg in their hearts. Truly amazing to see so much history in one building. I hope to see the rum running display return we truly missed it.
If museums is your thing you should visit this one definitely
A must do, the staff is amazing!! Very knowledgeable and got to go on 2 fishing boats from different eras! Guys on both boats were old fisherman, so Awesome! So interesting learned so much about fishing and the Bluenose!! Clarissa was awesome!!
So much to see and the attached restaurant has some of the best fish and chips I have eaten
Great museum with great history! Interactive for kids. The lady explaining the touchable tank was so knowledgeable and very friendly!
Would be nice if the site stated that it was closed for renovation!
Super friendly and helpful staff, great museum!
Delicious
I haven't been in 40 years... Covid-19 allowed for a free family adventure through time to visit the days of sail. Got to see a presentation on launching a boat, Dory fishing, filleting, lobsters. It was fun.
Kids loved it especially the tank with live crabs, starfish, sea enemone, lobster etc. Toured a retired whaling ship, lots to see and do for all ages!
Gorgeous museum, loved it
Great museum to take the family. Cool that you get to go on boats as well
A small museum located at the water front with a nice view of the harbor. The exterior is painted red, which is a beautiful contrast with the blue color of the ocean.
Surprisingly big and well made. Super nice staff!
Great museum.
Awesome place! I could probably spend a whole day there. Very informative and the displays are beautiful to see. You can see that there is a lot of care from the employees and everyone involved.
A little expensive for the offering, great for someone with kids, but for 2 adults, we didn't learn much. We found the aquariums a little depressing, they need to dress them up a little more. The 'Cod' exhibition was interesting. We were also lucky enough to meet one miniature boat builders that.
This is a very nice little museum with good displays covering the history of the area. Loved the fish tanks!
Loved the place. Guides are awesome and they answer to all your queries. Very well maintained.
We decided to stop here on our walk through town. There was a ship moored out back and part of the tour allowed us to get on and take some photos. Inside the museum Is a ton of artifacts, art and depictions of sea life. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and recommend this to anyone visiting Lunenburg.
Awesome place to visit
cool museum, the best part is outside and being able to go through some old sailing boats.
A great place to see and appreciate the history of fishing in Nova Scotia!
People working there very friendly, very informative, the gentlemen on the ship is his former capitan and and a wonderful story teller, you can listen to him for hours.
Hosed if you pay with USA dollars. Shame.
Enjoyable place to visit very informative
Awesome exhibits. Staff very welcoming and accommodating for guest with young one.
Our family had a blast visiting this museum! There's so much to see and the guides had a lot of fun interacting with the kids:). They made learning about the Bluenose so much fun.
Very detailed and worth a 1 hr visit. It is located in the fishing village of Lunenburg, which in itself is worthy of a 1 day visit.
It was great History and the staff were always quick to explain the History
Great! I was there in 2016. I had a great time checking out the displays of live fish and the different ships they have, also. The Bluenose was there too. Highly recommend visiting this museum and Lunenburg, in general, was a nice place to visit. I took lots of photos! It took some time to get there out of Halifax but I did take the scenic route.
interactive lots of things to see and you get a pass to go on the boat
This is a great place to visit with the family very friendly and knowledgeable staff, kid friendly and lots to see with two old fishing boat tied to the wharf outside that you're aloud to go on, worth a stop for sure.
Great place for all interested in marine lives and Fishermen's history.
Cute place to look for suvineers!
Great place to take kids.
Great service, good food.
Interesting but I don't know a lot about fishing in the ocean. The history and items that have improved over the years was amazing. Fun to visit the boats and see how the fishermen lived at sea.
If you're into museums, this one is well worth the visit. Maritime communities like Lunenberg exist as a monument to a way of life that inspires a lot of questions, and this place will answer all those questions for you including the ones you never thought to ask. Give yourself at least 2-3 hours if you're the type that likes reading everything.
Empty tanks. Dead fish. Boring (save for one neat old fishing vessel). Lunenberg has plenty of things to do and see...this need not be one of them.
Awesome experience. Very informative staff who seem about their jobs and plenty of East coast history inside of that museum. Definitely worth stopping by.
Good place to visit, lots of historical stuff to look at. Sad that the actual bluenose II is never in port during the busy tourists season.
Lots to do and see. The fist for I would say is the best but I was travelling with little kids and the exhibits need to be interactive for them. Would go again.
Let's just say hairnets need to be mandatory
An even more interesting place than I imagined. I loved getting the chance to explore the old fishing boats at the dock.
A great way to spend an afternoon. There is lots of information about the town its history and the fisheries. There are a lot of displays, an aquarium and two ships you can tour. There is also a restaurant on site and a gift shop. The gift shop had lots of things to choose from.
Loved the touch tank. Held a moon snail, sea stars & hermit crab. Listened to a great talk about lobsters and learned alot, including how to put a lobster down for a nap. A+
Great place to visit and experience Canadian history...
Enjoyed our visit here... worthwhile place to drop into.
Learnt a lot, kids had a blast exploring the exhibits
The aquarium section needs some serious renovation. These animals are not being kept well. Otherwise an informative and interesting visit.
Interesting place and a chance to board two boats in Port.
Skeptical at first, but a great look at history of fishing in Canada. CAA members get 10% off, and a National Parks pass gets you into one exhibit only. I recommend the whole thing at $12/adult.
Well worth the trip a nice content of the area and remembrance of fisherman lost at sea. Staff and boat tour staff need to be better communicators with the public. They just don’t seem to know how. I don’t mean they are rude , it’s just that the public doesn’t know what of who or when or what’s available there for tourists.
Very informative and well laid out. Good history of the region and it's people.
Outstanding museum on the history of fishing in Nova Scotia. The two ships they have on the water outside were staffed by retired fisherman and they were super knowledgeable on the history of the ships and the area.
Very interesting museum. The tickets are also very cheap. Kind staff and lots of stuff to do including touching a variety of fish!
Even with covid restrictions it is still a great time. Our tour guide Kelsey was fantastic!!
Neat to see ,if your in the area then check it out
The third floor of this museum is filled with the history of the Blue Nose, Canada's most famous & award winning sailing ship. The 1st & second floors provide the history of the fishing industry in Atlantic Canada & there are wonderful staff to answer any questions you may have.
Great spot. Been coming here since I was a kid. Lots of info and things to learn. Always love going to see Theresa E. Connor, Cape Sable and the Bluenose when she’s in.
Great, excellent restaurant as well!
Nice museum, dedicated to the Atlantic fishing industry. They also have an aquarium and a full restaurant onsite. Docked behind the museum building is a real fishing boat, where visitors can see how the fishermen live and work out at sea.
Museum was very interesting and a lot of great information on the artifacts. Was great to see things from the past and to learn about it. Very well laid out and organized of the objects. The fish were an enjoyable sight for my kid.
Great place kids had a blast with the live touch tank. The info session on lobster was very informative.
Lots of information on the ships..past and present You can board the ships and explore..as well as an indoor exhibit with gift store Sadly..when we went half the museum was under construction..so im sure its much more impressive Lots of staff to help you with any questions..and interactive displays Great resaurants to go to around the museum
Love that this exists! The kids were so excited that they could see all of the boats and how the sailors from the past use to live. Then having the opportunity to touch and interact with sea creatures was a bonus. The location is great and having it attached to an ice cream shop also was a bonus! Love Lunenburg.
Must to visit. Been here few times and love it every time
Nice meal good service
The interpreters were absolutely first rate. The man who told the story of the Bluenose deserves an Emmy! Our kids were enthralled and we were delighted and informed. Kudos all around.
Had a great time. Staff was really nice and answered any questions I had. The fishing vessels they have for guests are authentic and very interesting.
Interesting place with a nice in house restaurant
The wildlife display on the main floor is fun. It's a place where you can interact with the displays. I really liked the memorial for the fisherman who have died at sea. It's nice for family to have some closure.
Great place to see how they collect fish for the economy.
Helpful, friendly staff. Prices are excellent and allow come and go access all day. Admission fee covers all exhibits and ships.
Best museum in Nova Scotia!
Good place to visit to get some historic details of the area. There also is a gift shop, restaurant, ice cream shop, and restrooms located in this building.
Very cool little museum with a whale skull, right on the bay!
Great museum.
Valuable museum for the price.
Always a pleasant visit, new exhibits. Highly recommend visiting.
What an amazing place to Visit
Lots of information on various topics of fishing and animal life. Lay out was good and accessible to everyone.
Nice place and friendly staff.
A well set up museum. Interesting for people of all ages. A great spot for a family day trip.
Great staff and a great selection of things at the gift store. The picture I posted is a Scallop vessel not to far from the Museum. Thanks for making our visit a great one!!
Annoying texting request before entering.
Interesting information about the house of the fisheries. Appreciated the knowledgeable gentlemen on the Sable who answered our questions in detail. Nice and helpful staff.
Great place to discover the history of the area.
Our favorite part of the museum was being able to tour the two ships and visiting the touch tank. Great stop foe our family on the way through town. Also, we saved money on admission with our AAA card.
A great place!
Interesting museum highlighting the indusry of fishing in the area.
Great tour. Lots of local history. A must see when visiting Lunenburg!
Lots of fish varieties to witness. Also tells some history about the area. Kids will love it!
Didn't go through the museum. The restaurant was good. Food was good, a bit pricey but the service was excellent. Not sure if I would eat there again but would recommend that you experience the place.
great gift shop - loved the wharf
Overall a good experience, could use a bit of upkeep and maintenance but still worth a visit and some great displays.
What an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly interpretive staff! I had a wonderful time and was blown away by the exhibits and aquarium. Truly a gem in Nova Scotia and worth a visit to Lunenberg just for this.
Wonderful museum! Interesting pieces and exhibits. The live aquarium displays were a nice surprise. The museum is located very centrally in town, which makes it a good jumping off place to anywhere else you want to go.
Climbing on the boats is always a highlight.
Very interesting displays.
The swooner and trawler you can go inside is awesome. Had an aquarium including local catch (even some of the deep sea salt-water fish!) Spend anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours here! Highly recommend it.
Fun place for a family outing.
Lots of interesting stuff. My kids weren’t bored but also not super entertained.
Really enjoyed this place. Mostly because of the really knowledgeable guide we met upstairs (I wish I could remember her name). She had so much knowledge of the area and it was fascinating to talk with here.
Lovely museum and very informative. The restaurant offers very yummy sea food, but a little bit pricy. Wheel chair accessible. No free parking available, but a 6 CAD parking is right next to it, and you pay 6 CAD no matter how long you stay. There's an indoor part of the restaurant and a patio at sea front. Amazing place and highly recommended.
Wonderful. Great place to bring the family with fun for all.
You need to check it out before you head the water and the whale watching
Great covid measures, reduced number of guests at a time makes it a much nicer experience, being able to see all of the exhibits. Bonus that it's free for the rest of August to attend!
Lots of really interesting Atlantic artifacts. And the blue nose ii is there too.
Great place, must visit if you go to Lunenburg
Set aside a day for this. There is much to see, in and outside.
Lots of fishing exhibits, not overly busy and volunteers around to answer or explain what you're looking at. Great visit. Access to the Cape Sable vessel docked outside.
My 3rd time here and every time learn something new... Love this place Highly recommended
Very interesting and a beautiful town
Nice place to visit. Staff very helpful. Lots of knowledge and great stories in the talks given!
The museum was a little lacking for kids, but the boats you can go on are awesome! People there are very friendly.
Always love visiting the museum. I make a point of going every year.
Awesome place
It was an place if you like boats and it's history, this Museum is all about fishing and it's all old and new methods, it's nice place to come with you kids or Friends or family. You will definitely love this visit it's free when we went in but I don't if they charge for the visit or not, this place is also the home of lagendry bluenose and bluenose II
This is an amazing museum, something you would expect to see in a much larger centre
This is my favourite place in Lunenburg. I particularly love touring the two fishing vessels.
Great place to take the family and enjoy the waterfront museum property while in Lunenburg.
My friends that went inside liked a lot
Love museums. Go get educated people.
Always enjoy going in here. Just wish more of the tanks had fish in them
Very nice
Always enjoy the exhibits
Free admission for July interesting but very hot.
Great displays, historical equipment, informative staff, all about the Atlantic maritime fishing and the families that depend on it.
Lots of interactive exhibits for the kids!
We didn't plan to go to this museum but somehow ended up visiting at the end of August. The staff was exceptional. Thank you to the young man who gave us a tour of the fish tanks and told us some stories!
When we first approached the entrance I did not expect much. When we walked into the aquarium part I was blown away! It was really good with a wide variety of sealife. My young grandkids literally ran from on display to the next. Then we moved into the main display area. There was so much to see that we spent two hours there. My grandkids favorite displays were the dioramas. I found the entire setup very informative and interesting. We ended with a walking tour of the Bluenose 2, a sailboat permanently docked by the museum. It is well worth the trip.
So much history to see...great for all ages
Very informative. Great place
Very informative and interesting!
The owners are lovely. Very kind and helpful. The views are wonderful and falling asleep with the sounds of the ocean is wonderful. There is not a lot of privacy and the water pressure can be spotty. There are a lot of over night transient camping but the campers we chatted with were all lovely and kind. It's very affordable and as I said before the views can't be beat. The proximity to Halifax and Peggy's cove are ideal. We will be back for sure! Thank you for the stay
You could easily spend several hours here exploring the aquarium and three floors of displays (including a Titanic exhibit). Don't miss the trawler and fishing schooner moored by the wharf just outside. The in-house restaurant, though a bit pricey, serves great seafood.
Touch tank is very strict. Touching only! Not allowed to pick anything up.
Very interesting history of the area. Lots of information about the historical commercial fishing process and the lives of the men who worked the boats. It was a lot of information to cover in one visit so I might suggest splitting into a 2 trip foray.
Museum was interesting for all ages.
Excellent. Very interesting. Spent almost all day there
Super interesting but wish there was more of the Titanic display.
Didn't go in bc of admission. Boardwalk was nice and we enjoyed seeing the tall ships.
This place is huge! Worth it. Go!
Visited the Fisheries museum on July 19/ 2017, My kids and I LOVED it..LOTS to see, and the staff were VERY friendly :) ..we also lost an iphone during our visit and the staff are VERY helpful to have it returned to us back home :) 10 thumbs up !!! Can't wait to go back and visit again !!! ????????????????
The guide did such a great job explaining the lobster fishery in Nova Scotia. This is a must see museum to learn about the history of Lunenburg, and how it was built on the fishery.
During COVID, the hands on displays, touch tank are non operational. One side of the fish display was not working. The upside right now is free admission. The check in covid tracing is a bit ridiculous (visit a website or text before entering building) since you also have to stop and answer questions in the admissions. We only stayed for a short time - we have two young kids and this was uninteresting to them (and us).
Always a great time at the museum. Great staff, they are all very knowledgeable about the sea life and the fishing equipment. The kids and I love the touch tank. We also got to launch a schooner.
Cool history here, but not really interactive. Lots of neat things to look at
Beautiful place great fish and chips
One of the best towns in Canada also enjoyed the museam
Lots of good exhibits but not overwhelming. Lots of informative staff available to answer any questions you might have.
Big museum with lots of interesting facts on fishing and native practises and the history of maritime fishing
A lot to see and fun to visit the boats
We had so much fun here! Something for everyone! The tank of tidal creatures was especially awesome, and touring all the ships was a huge hit. Very reasonable admission price, and easily 3 hours of fun
Good but not great. The ships that are part of the museum are worth seeing.
Informative, some interesting things to see re:ships and history. A bit pricey and I was really deterred by the cleanliness of the tanks and how many of them were empty.... come on guys, this is your only job.
Located right on the Halifax waterfront. Doesn't take too long to walk through. Tons of ship models to be found on the second floor. Would have loved to had more hands-on activities. Seemed rather pricey for what was there.
Excellent museum
Great! A must see
Amazing and great for kids too
Very interesting subject - members of staff very friendly approachable and knowledgeable
It's fun to visit here especially with a staff guiding you. We made it for the launch of the model Bluenose and it was very entertaining, more than I've bargained for. And you can get on the Bluenose II to check it out.
Very informative museum guide. Fascinating history of the fishing industry and local crafts.
Love it! So many interesting interactive displays! Fun to learn at any age!
Friendly staff, great place to go,lots to look at.
Awesome museum.
probably the heart of the tourism draw to Lunenburg other then the blue nose which sadly wasn't there when we were! full of historic information and great interactive things for children! our favourite parts were the aquarium and the sail boat we got to go on! would love to go back again when my kids are older!
Run of the mill food. Access for handicapped to a washroom if you use the pier tables is via an elevator in the museum part. This is a bit of a bother. Ground floor should have washrooms. Other buildings near the waterfront were also not easy for handicap or mobility reduced people.
Great place to spend a few hours :) the kids loved it as much as the adults
Amazing visit, staff members were engaged and passionate about the museum and shared details we would never have noticed. Absolutely recommend adding a trip to this museum to every visit to Lunenburg! Extra highlight of our trip today: we got to see baby sea otters!
Very interesting and low price activity.
If you like to learn about the history of an area and its industry, you should love this museum! Excellent presentation, signage and guides. Fun things for older children. Loved it!
Enjoyed our visit to the Museum and if you are planning to go make sure you allot adequate time. The displays include vessels tied up to the dock, a couple of floors of highly interesting displays and truly typical of the fishery of Nova Scotia. There is a good gift shop on the main floor along with an ice cream shop and after the visit there is an excellent quality restaurant upstairs that serves very high quality meals.
Great location, great view, excellent experience for the whole family, not to be missed. Located near many great eating experiences and one of a kind services. A truly historical location. Home berth to the one and only Bluenose.
Good attractions! Going on the old boats and seeing the history is pretty neat.
Well put together displays. Enthusiastic friendly staff.
Very interesting visit. A lot of interesting information. Very friendly staff that gives interesting explanations.
This museum was absolutely stunning. It has 4 stories. All so nicely organized and presented. Everywhere I went staff were always there if we needed assistance or questions. Also there are two boats that are docked at the harbour outside the museum and with the admission of the museum you get to climb aboard the two ships and see what it was like to live like a fisherman. My favorite part was going on the boats. Very cool and interesting. Well worth the money
Wonderful walk through and an amusing and informative talk on the old fishing boat.
Very well done!
An interesting place geared more towards adults than children.
Interesting! Lots of historical info and facts on the fishing world of today.
Very interesting museum about history of fishing in the area. Must see!
⛵⚓
Lots of interesting displays.
Kid-friendly museum. The staff were so receptive to our kids and their curiosity. Our eldest son (3.5 yrs) was given a wooden boat because he showed interest. He also got to hold all sorts of tiny ocean creatures in his hands. Only disappointment was not being able to embark on Bluenose II as it was undergoing maintenance (in May).
Aquarium area is fun to look at. Wonderful seeing all the fish. Loved seeing all the different artifacts throughout.
So much information lots of reading and staff to assist.
Very cool spot to go highly recommend stopping in if in the area
Beautiful setting with excellent exhibits.
I would not recommend eating their lobster roll. You get a tblsp of grounded lobster in a hotdog bun for $19.99. It's truly ridiculous.
Really cool museum. Alot to see and check out.
Great place, didnt realize it was free because of the holiday. Staff was great, surprisingly interesting.
