This museum is a hidden treasure. The exhibit is both immersive and educational. The attention to detail is stunning and I’m sure even the most educated folks will learn more about the complicated history of Japanese Canadians. Worth the visit!

A must visit if you are in the Hope area. Lots to see and learn about the displacement of Japanese Canadians in British Columbia. The volunteers who run the museum are incredible knowledgeable, friendly and can answer any questions from young and old visitors alike. Tons of artifacts and objects, along with simulated housing and other elements to truly put you in the time/place. They had a visiting exhibit from the Nikkei Museum in Burnaby which featured documents from families who were interned at Tashme. During our visit they were only listed as open on Saturday/Sunday; however, after reaching out via their Facebook page they were able to accommodate our visit midweek!

This little museum is a definite must see. It is located up the the Sunshine valley.It is keeping the history alive, from when the the Sunshine Valley was a Japanese Internment camp. With out the people who are looking after and running this museum, this history would have been lost.

Excellent museum about the Tashme Japanese Internment Camp. I had no idea the largest camp in B.C. was located in Sunshine Valley. This is one of the best small museums I have been to. Well worth a stop. The curator and owner opened the museum up for us and shared his extensive knowledge of the History.

Must visit in the area, learned so much about Japanese internment in Canada. Very informative and important history that we’re not taught enough of in school. Museum host Ryan is very knowledgeable and answered our questions so well.
