Check this place out, seriously. It's a total hands on museum, run by locals and owned by a ancestral local....good peeps through and through. There is a consistent stream of events happening here, all set up by volunteers. It's just good wholesome fun. A must. I'm definitely checking it out again and again.

Just spent my Canada Day celebrations with Memory Lane. Thanks for the free warm delicious donut, we left with buying another 12! More importantly, thank you for sharing a piece of 1930-1950 Nova Scotian history. Life was simple then and I'm glad to be part of it... e

We were the only ones here initially so it was great having the place to ourselves. We were mainly there for family pictures at our grandfather's boat shop but it was entertaining to be followed by the sheep wherever we went.

Lovely place. A 1940s village made from historic buildings brought in from around the community and restored, furnished with lots of period items. Maintained by a non-profit organization. Chickens, kittens, sheep & goat. My favorites were the schoolhouse and the shingle mill.

Chris O'Handey

It was entertaining and educational. The model A was a delight. Because of covid there were no animals but I had a delightful and relaxing visit. Ample parking. They tried to be accessable but the grounds would be rather rough going.

Helpful knowledgeable staff, lots to see, amazing food, even if don't eat meat. They have a couple cheep, chickens and the sweetest kittens I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Just please do as the staff say and close doors behind you so the animals don't enter rooms they're not supposed to and make a mess it was a shame to see a LOT of people not caring enough to do this.

Great place to bring your family, lots of interesting buildings, love the cookhouse, it has a woodstove and they are serving cookies, tea, coffee, & hot chocolate right now. On Other Memory Lane days, the cookhouse serves meals.☆☆☆☆☆

Bee E

We were impressed by the thorough understanding of 1940 Maritime life. We had an awesome snack and chat with the ladies cooking in the homestead and a drive around the town in an antique car. There is a cookhouse for lunch and gift shop for souvenirs. Everything is hands on so kids are not afraid to go into rooms and see how things work.

Drew Vai

What a hidden gem! Thought it was just a few buildings but this open air museum is actually an entire little town with school, houses, a farm, workshops, and much more. It feels like going back in time. We enjoyed taking a ride in the old 1928 model T and experiencing first hand what life in the 40s used to be. Fantastic experience for children! Our kids learned a lot about every day tasks back in the day while they were also busy looking for the different animals that walk around memory lane.

A great place to go and visit if your looking for the authentic 1940 experience. So much to see and most of the old equipment they have on site functions. Really cool to see how a gold mine operated back then.

Troy Saulnier

Concert was great

Cathie Watson

Had an early Christmas dinner here. Lovely evening.

Jason Arneaud

Wonderful educational experience for adults and kids. Try the food at the cookhouse!

The only drawback is that it is an hour from Halifax, and I wish they were much closer! Even during COVID where they had part of it shut down for safety, this quaint little village is well worth your time, especially since entrance is by donation. TONS of WWII propaganda posters, old timer tools, and a mini-scavenger hunt for toy trucks! There are stilts to play with, an amazing gift shop filled with old and new treasures, and then there's the cookhouse. $14 for a sandwich, dessert, drink, and soup. Amazing deal, served on classic Maritime Brown Bread? Yes please. And they offer picnic meal bundles if you want to eat on the grounds! Super safe and comfortable during COVID, do recommend!

We saw an ad in a tourist book for Memory Lane and we are so glad we took the time to visit. The staff were so nice and friendly. The barn cats were adorable. The museum is a 'hands on' museum where you are encouraged to try out tools, washing machines, open desks and drawers. Make sure you take the option fir the meal in the cookhouse, the homemade food was amazing!

Perfect place to go!!!!!! Had a great time at the Women's Heritage Weekend. They had free admission with lots going on; car rides in a 1928 Model T Ford, great food in the cook house and WW2 displays in the school and church. They had a special Church service about women in the First World War and afternoon tea. I'm going back again for sure!!!!!!!

Merlin Watt

Total hidden gem of a museum village just a short drive from Halifax. Deserves to be more well-known. Community and volubteer-driven, this is a great little day trip to a 1940s era museum village with several rescued buildings, small.church, schoolhouse, homestead and more. An amazing setting for public and private events and concerts. Check out their calendar for their highly popular annual events and Christmas concerts and dinners. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed our afternoon at Memory Lane. We specifically went on Father's Day to see the car show that was there (it's an annual event). Be sure to check out the General Store for snacks, souvenirs and hand-stitched slippers that are locally made (and very comfortable!). A definite trip back in time!

Memory Lane is a great way to create wonderful new memories. Each visit we discover new things and learn so much about our past. A few highlights include: having a tasty meal at the Cookhouse which offers the best beans and homemade bread ever, trying the wooden stilts which are more difficult than they seem and lots of fun, going for a drive around the village in the 90 year old car, visiting the various animals who are characters all on their own, getting lost in time within the incredible buildings and artifacts and most importantly feeling so at home thanks to the knowledgeable and dedicated staff and volunteers. Memory Lane is worth the drive, no matter where you are traveling from. Thanks for the memories!
