I knew nothing of this place when my family and I happened by. WOW. Just wow. If you have an interest in Maritime / New England history, enjoy beautiful art, and love to learn, then you must stop here. This is a gem that must be seen to be appreciated. The $7 museum price is totally worth the visit. I want to become a “hooker” now!

The marketplace at the Museum is now open. When the Museum portion of the building opens be sure to view the displays of hooked rugs and the amazing history of tug hooking. This year there is an incredible display of Indeginous designed hooked rugs. Amazing.

Well worth your time. This unprepossessing building hides a world of skill and beauty behind it's quite walls. Very knowledgeable staff are not only very familiar with the history of this useful and beautiful artform, they are also well versed in the specifically Nova Scotian variances. The Fibre Market stocks everything one could possibly need to explore this historic craft, but also has items from small to enormous, antique to contemporary, made by artists and artisans in the area and throughout Canada.

Didn't go inside but from the outside and across the street...it looked pretty swell!

Jan LaTurno

Very interesting historical items. I have never hooked a rug before, but found many tools and techniques were similar to needlepoint. I would encourage anyone interested in ANY kind of needlework or craftwork to take the opportunity to tour this museum and gift shop. And yes, I bought a small kit to try my hand at rughooking!

Fantastic! Has a wide range of styles and many traditional rugs done with outstanding skill dating from as far back as the 1800s

Marjory Masson

Interesting place. Many different patterns, some of them quite old. Variety of rugs to purchase. Really friendly staff. I will be returning when I can allow more time to browse.
