DESCRIPTION

You will see the information of people who are purchasing the services and products of HMCS Sackville (Museum) in the area of Halifax (Canada).

Right now this firm has a score of 4.5 over 5 and the score has been calculated on 71 reviews.

You must have seen that the average score it has is practically the highest, and it's founded on a large number of opinions, so we may be quite sure that the valuation is very faithful. If many people have bothered to value when they are happy, is that it works.

You know that we don't usually stop to set feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

REVIEWS OF HMCS Sackville IN Halifax

It was very worthwhile and educational. It involved visiting key areas of the ship where real navy personnel lived, worked and socialized. The Voice and Video in below deck spaces allowed for a moment to sit down in these actual spaces and imagine the lived experiences of the sailors patrolling the seas during WW2.

Great history but most info buttons do not work (English and French)

This was a really interesting way to spend an hour. Lots of sections restored and set up to how it would have been when in operation. My only complaint was that many of the speakers that were supposed to describe the areas we viewed were no working, and there was limited written information to explain what you were looking at. In the areas that had staff, it was great because they were very knowledgeable and explained. Admission is by donation.

The HMCS Sackville is ana amazing historical vessel. It is a piece of history. The small ship served in WWII helping other ships cross the Atlantic to get supplies past U-Boats and sunk a few on the way. The ship has interactive sound clip through out the ship in both french and English and has an amazing set up using time period props and mannequins to simulate how living was on the ship during the time. When she is open in the summer for visits, I highly reccomend takinf friends and family on board. However, as she is a war ship, if you are over 5'6'' tall or have issues with ladders or steap stairs or maybe heights, it will prove a challenge to move around inside the ship.

One of my profs at Dalhousie was a First Mate on one in WWII. Very cool piece of history.

A must see when on the Halifax Waterfront. Exploring the ship is an incredible experience, even more so when you think about its place in history. The interpreters on deck were also very engaging. Admission is free but it is recommended that you make a donation. If you cannot just make sure you let the volunteers know you appreciate their work :)

Awesome ship. Too bad it's not fully open, but it's still very educational and entertaining.

Great ship with a history

We was unable to go see the HMSC because they move it to inside dock to repair stuff so we loose about 30 min in our trip .. they said that it will be back in summer 2019

Zach W (Awesome Cheese)

Interesting and the stuff knew a lot about the ship.

David DeRoose

Wonderful piece of history - I really enjoyed touring it

Someone on here commented that they wished to rate HMCS Sackville 0 stars for not being open any weekends in July. Just wanted to let everyone know that HMCS Sackville is open 7 days a week (including every weekend) from 10AM to 5PM.

Paul O'Boyle

HMCS Sackville is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to appreciate the history of our Navy and the circumstances in which so many of our Sailors served. Thank you to all the Trustees and Volunteers who make this possible. If it isn't already, it "should be" number one on your list of places to visit on the Halifax waterfront!

A MUST SEE !! This historical boat has free entry and is worth the detour! You don't have access to everything, but the place you do are impressive, and you learn a lot! You can see the whole boat in about 30 minutes, and speaking with the personnel makes it even more fun! I recommend this place to everyone!

This is a very nice piece of history and once again when you see how they lived on board this vessel it's impressive. They have mannequins set up to show some of the conditions. This will help kids understand more about grandparents and great grandparents and what they endured. Check it out..

A great historical legacy being the last surviving Flower Class Corvette from the Second World War

We had a blast on this boat. The staff were friendly. It cost nothing. Just a donation.

A great walk into history. Everything on this shop is kept in good condition. It feels like sailers still running back and forth for telegrams.

Well preserved ship from the past well informed guide

Scott L

Well worth visiting. Much effort has gone into restoring this 1941 corvette, and is the last of over 200.

Emélie Perron-Clow

Haven't visited: website says it's closed to visitors until 2019 or thereabouts for retrofitting. Guess I'll be coming back.

Gray Boats

Not as well signed as the HMCS Haida, but does have guided tours. Staff very pleasant.

Ryan Lister

A well cared for and impressive piece of history. Well worth a stop in.

Paul Onderwater

A great piece of history. You can get into, on and around the ship to see much of what it was like to serve on a corvette at sea during World War 2. We visited her in October of 2017 and had a great time. When we came back in June 2018, she was away being refitted. The website says she will be back at her berth in late summer 2018. Worth a visit, especially after she is back in tip top shape.

Great experience, would highly recommend to anyone even remotely interested in ww2/naval history, or even old seagoing vessels. I was amazed just how much there was for people to do and experience. Needs more funding for sure, it would be fantastic to be able to explore the entire ship, but they need the funds to open up the new areas. I plan to donate and volunteer as much as possible over the summer and whenever i can in the future, those men went through hell to keep the allied ships in the Atlantic safe, and its a real shame Canada doesnt prioritize more funds to exhibits like the Sackville and Haida.

H M

Would go again when available. It was a great experience.

Unfortunately, HMCS Sackville is now closed for the season as we have entered our winter work period in HMC Dockyard in Halifax. Looking forward to seeing EVERYONE next summer!!!! Pat Devenish CPO1 (Ret'd) Chief Engine Room Artificer &Tour Guide/Interpretor HMCS Sackville

In 1950 I served in HMCs Swansea it had similar depth charge mountings as sackville I manned a thrower during exercises and was able to explain the devise that launched a depth charge first time I was afraid I would lose my hand so I tried to switch to my left hand but the gunnery PO saw me and after a few curses made me do it correctly no problem but I was still scared u723856

Great ship and history. Found out it had same engine as Titantic but only smaller. It was also in a recent movie.

Craig Simmons

There should be an opportunity for 0 stars. How is this not open on weekends in JULY? That sucks! Traveling from Ontario. Thought a chance for a closer look at this due to my grandfather being on one of the other Corvette ships. Disappointed!

Christopher Chang

Great piece of history. It's only there seasonally from spring to fall. But worth having a look if you are in the area. Tours of the ship are very fun.
