Great place for the kids

Rene P

This place is beautiful. Large playground, great space for families and their dogs. I love that there is a large section just for unleash dogs. I love the writings on the metal along the walking trail that is paved. It also has handicap accessible parking. Very lovely and I hear it's a great place to go and watch fireworks

Curtis Pennell

Nice spot with a dog park area, though it's not totally fenced in, so not ideal for some dogs.

Baba Sing

A city park in North end of Halifax

Irfan Zia

Peaceful park within the city.

Funi513's Gaming Channel

Great park with two different types of scenery. An open field with old buildings and cannons. The other is a set of paths in the woods leading down to the water.

Alexandra G

Great local park. A real bell tower, pretty trees to sit under, half an American football field, a baseball diamond and an off-leash dog park where friendly locals gather. North end at its best.

Daniel MacKay

A great place for the dogs or kids or a picnic or throw a ball or frisbee or drone or tai chi or music festival or skateboard or climb a tree!

Larry Baxter

Wide open space with a great historic view.

Josh Greencorn

Great place to take kids for a walk or to play on playground

Clayton Erickson

Nice little park in Halifax. Has a nice field for sports and some tennis courts and a playground. Halifax is terrible for urban green spaces so this is a nice spot

Eric Coates

Best sledding for younger kids in the North End! Safe, just steep enough and great views of the city.

Emily Miller

A lovely spot to bring your pup for some play! Beautiful sunsets and generally some other dogs around to play with.

There is a new look at Fort Needham Park, located on a hill overlooking Halifax Harbour. It was recently given a new , more modern, more friendly look. I like it. The playground is a treat for kids of all ages with lots of fun things to explore. The kids can hide, climb, slide and run around. For parents and walkers, you can enter the park from several sides. There us free parking. You can park and stroll while thinking of the horror if the Halifax Explosion in 1917. This hill was witness to the disaster and today you can find some monuments reminding us of that sad happening. Now the memorial is more modern and respectful of those who perished or were blinded and injured on that day in 1917. It is a great place to visit.

I've only been to this park twice, but I'd like to go more often. The landscape is different; Higher Ground. The park looks over the northern most area of the Halifax Harbour and its components are literally made up of relics from the …

Ed Prior

This park is up on the hill with a nice view of the north end of Halifax Harbour. There is a children's playground, a dog area, and some playing fields, but the unexpected part for me is the carillon honouring the Halifax Explosion. A …

Am yet to fully explore the entirety of the park, but so far it's lovely. For my sporty friends, there is a great set of stairs here which are perfect for step running (it's shaded too so big bonus). The bells are lovely and the gardens are super well kept. There's a nice play park for families and lots of dogs on walks :)

Lila Choudhury

Beautiful organic children's playground.

Ken Shipley

Wonderful place for kids and puppies to run off leash.

Qasem (Dr. Q)

Very nice place to go for a walk, take your dog, or play sports. It has a few access points and a small parking lot. But street parking is also available within couple minutes. The park is in the heart of the city and is surrounded by lots of houses and streets.

Timothy Fisher

This outdoor playground has a very unique look to it. It's toddler and child friendly, I recommended it.

Destiny Edwards

We arrived as the bells chimed 10am, it was really nice. Wonderful natural playground made out of logs and wooden structures and a big field to run around. My daughter wants to keep going back to it. She especially liked the rock climbing wall that once on top, you can go down a slide to come back down. Did that more than a few times!

Scott Gillard

Beautiful park, awesome natural playground.

C M

Beautiful park, stunning view, excellent kids play area. The only thing lacking is some public bathrooms nearby and maybe a food stand in the summertime.

SUSH mita Thapa

It's really good place for the people who love to sit alone with the fresh air and a green environment but you might get to see a lot of dogs.

Lisa Lee Steckler

Excellent playground -if it's a sunny day make sure to bring hats as there isn't a lot of shade. If you walk towards the large cement/bell installation opposite the playground there are 2 very old trees that are amazing to climb,

Richard Cross

Nice down and back trail. Not long. Nice playground.

Ajit Thakkar

Great park for kids and adults alike.

John MacKay

Great park for picnic lunches and off leash fun for the pooch.

Katey Kelly

Great park!

Bethany Moore

Wonderful natural playground area. Tons to explore for children of all ages.

Shawn McLeod

People friendly, dog friendly. High in the land so it is great for sunsets and fireworks. Flat sports fields, cages tennis courts... Nice place to play.

Blair Allen

Great park, not a great dog park. Giving this park 3 stars feels a little hypocritical seeing how much I go there, but as far as dog parks go it is not ideal. It is nice that it is secluded atop a hill and so offers great views and lots of space. There are playgrounds, sporting fields, plaques to read, a path to run, and an area deemed the dog park. That dog park area is not fenced in, which I feel affects all of the other aspects of the park. If your dog is reasonably well behaved and can handle people running, biking, scootering, or skateboarding by then everything should be alright.

Roman Malik

Need more renovation for public attraction

Emily White

Great to walk through and bring your dog off leash !

amazon ww

Lots of pokestops and spawns. Bananas spawns on Community Days. Really nice trail and cute playground. The offleash dogs are a little out of control tho, they should have a fenced in area.

Jolly Roger

A great place for taking kids out and having some workout on the playground. The lawn is pretty friendly to the fur families. Not much of a trail or hike though. The autumn vibe up from the hill is meditation.

Brian Brine

Lovely park.

Amelia McMahon

The playground is really great! Look out for the dog poop in the field...

Toomany Bats

This park is beautiful. The walk is picturesque and the area is dotted with historical information about the Halifax Explosion. The monument has a nice marque area. And on the other side of a large field area there is a playground and more greenspace.

Jeremy Rintoul

Lovely open space with decent views around the harbour. Nice playground and interactive elements for kids. Good sports field.

Samiah Alam

I went for a walk at night and thought it was a nice park. The playground equipment were very unique and based on using natural wood material rather than plastic. I would definitely encourage parents who live nearby to visit the playground.

Tara Dunnett

My daughter loves going here. They have a great park for kids and is nice to walk around.

Manoj Mathew

Stroller friendly elevated park good for a sunny day out.

Duane Margolese

I have recently discovered this park with my dog. It is a nice place yet the dog run has been a wet and muddy field. The playground is better for children. It would be nice to see more benches, perhaps picnic tables and planned events. The view of the water is amazing. More garbage receptacles would definitely be an asset.

Lemuel Smith

Excellent memorial. Steep climbb for people bit worth the trouble.

Tara Taylor

Good location to take your dog to off lease area. Newly paved sidewalk. A little wet/ messy in the spring.

Donna Duncanson

Nice place

Tom Wills

Nice park to let the dog off the leash. Can be quite busy at peak hours (430-630pm). Decent views of harbour and Bedford basin. Plenty of parking.

Damian Tomsett

A wonderful place for children and their families to get together. Awesome playground - made all from lumber. Something for all ages! …

joe murr

Very nice play ground for kids and big space if you have a dog to burn that extra energy

Josh Francis

Awesome little hide away spot, great to chill. Park was pretentious and subpar but still fun, bring back the basket swing that was missing

Reid Palmer

Nice for what it is. A urban park tucked, like many of Halifax's parks, inside a residential area of the city. There is well maintained stairs and paths as well as nice plaques and monuments referencing the Halifax explosion. There is a dig friendly "off leash" zone that is a nice touch for dog owners. A small play ground that i didn't use but looked serviceable. It's not local to me so i dont know how often i would return with so many other parks to explore but it was nice to visit.

Rodney Sauveur

They have a family area and they have turned the park in to a great park for people to walk. They have lit up the bell towers and it is beautiful at night. Enjoy!

Shelley Stevenson

AWESOME SPOT FOR KIDS ! ! Different then typical I think that's why my kids love it so much

Great Adventure playground for kids, with lots to climb and explore, not for little little kids. Was very hot and almost always windy. Lovely flowers. Little shade.

Beautiful large park with the best children’s playground we’ve ever seen - 20+ wooden structures that are just wonderful for our three year old!

David Lind

Great park, playground for kids, walking paths and new washrooms in a building being built, brand new. Big open sports field, well groomed and maintained.

Jbo Bonin

Awesome spot for little and big kids to play

Krista Tilley

The park has had a major overhaul in 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the explosion. The space and the playground are awesome.

A S

Fairly small community minded park with history. Dogs are welcome to play off leash here.

Christopher Chang

Good park! Has a play area for kids and a field as well as tennis courts. It is also adorn by a couple of monuments. the view of Halifax and Dartmouth are also worth seeing from. There.
