Interesting, beautiful scenic views

Rick Vanderwyst

Interesting, World War II era fortification designed to protect Sydney harbour from attack. Designed to look like a church to camouflage true purpose. Small museum and access to main structure available during summer/tourism season. Stunning views

Cindy Preston

An amazing historical sight. Lots to see do and imagine. A definite place to visit.

The guide is very interesting. The spot is very beautiful. You can sit and you can even enter the bunker. It's a precious piece of history worth the visit and it's free. There is energy vibrating from this space. Really worth the stop. You can also admire artefacts from the moment of the history.

This was pretty cool to stop and walk around. Informative plaques, WW1 armaments, and ruins jutting out off the cliffs. Be sure to walk the little path along the cliff to see them.

A well maintained wartime fort used during WWII. It is a small fort but it is filled with a lot of artifacts from that time, sush as rifles and weapons, gas masks, uniforms, pictures and newspaper clippings. There is a lot to see including the beautiful views at the top of the tower. The caretake was friendly and informative. It is seasonal. Usually only open in the summer when cruise ships are in port. There are no bathrooms.

really cool place to visite for free. not much to do but look around but it was a nice experience to walk through the fort and feel the energy that was at this place. and if you like to geocache there are some nice ones on the way :) if you go during the colder seasons like we did make sure to be well dressed as the cost is extremely windy and cold

A major fortification during World War Two. A strategic location then and a beautiful view of the approache to the Port of Sydney now. Nearby is the Low Point Lighthouse for picture taking. Access the Atlantic shoreline here as well.

Grounds and parking lot open 24/7. Building is closed 24/7 (September 18, 2019 - I assume it's open "in season" though I have no evidence). Can see & walk on the foundations for 2 large guns - the guns are gone. The doors to go underground where the workings & storage were are sealed. Plan on 10 to 20 minutes max to explore it.

William MacIntosh

Great place to learn some history from the second world war and the defence of sydney harbour located in New Victoria Nova Scotia

I think "museum" isn't the right description anymore. It seems this place has seen better days. It now is nothing more than a couple of old gun batteries and a nice view. There isn't anything to read or learn, and nothing really of interest to explore. We learned of the historical significance of this place before arriving, but it wasn't worth the drive out. Too bad.

Doreen Collins

Amazing ???????? WW1&WW2 history, the importance of Sydney's role in protecting the Atlantic route patrolled which has anti submarine destroyers. Very cool place to visit and rich history. Has collections of pictures, antique guns, bullets, gas mask. Relys on donations, so definitely donate as it's amazing and maintained by veterans.

reg Johan

Small reminder, and part of Canada's WW1/WW2 legacy... our contribution to our country and the freedom of our people. God bless every man and woman that served here, and overseas. I pray the Canadian government will not let this place fall. Our people, our government, didn't let it fall during WW1 OR WW2. that was a long time ago. why should our current government let this fall now?? A lot more respect needs to be given, preserve what our ancestors left behind as a reminder of what they sacrificed for us.

Gordie Clyke
