The Best museo I'v ever seen
Amazing experience.. my son loved it .. definitely will be returning soon !
Great place to hangout with your friends and family.
It is a very beautiful indoor museum, I loved the experience and my daughter too. I recommend more than 3 hrs for a full visit, there are a lot of interactive exhibitions that you will have to wait in order to use them.
We enjoyed a wonderful visit, starting with the Dinosaurs and ending with a feature interactive exhibit on life in our Canadian Arctic. So many feature exhibits including minerals and mining, and an excellent bird exhibit.
It was a great place to take the kids. Extremely educational .good dioramas and displays
Be sure to check it on the free evenings!
Excellent galleries. Amazing staff. Perfecr for couples, families, children etc. Amazing monthly Nature Nocturne events! The butterfly exhibit is the best.
very nice museum, right now they have live owls events, beautiful animal.
Absolutely a must see, must buy tickets on line, have proof of Vax,the place is magical with plenty to see and explore, paid parking so it may cost $3 each 30 minutes, it figures one needs at least 2 hours inside.
I can’t speak due to lots to say. More and less it needs one whole day to see all sections. The live butterflies section is must to see.
Good spot for all ages. We especially liked the butterflies but understand they are temporary. No problem though, still lots to see and enjoy.
Superb experience. Amazing exhibitions with interesting and diverse topics. A truly Canadian museum with dinosaurs, rocks, live insects and fishes as well as a number of dioramas. Wow!
My favorite museum in Ottawa beautiful building with a ton of great exhibits. Wear comfy shoes lots of stairs and ramps. Also elavators but those should be saved for the people who need them.
Very impressed with flow, number of people permitted in each area. Hope it stays the same post-Covid!
Lots to see. If you go on the free Thursday night, expect to see massive crowds. Exhibits are informative. Many kid friendly, hands on exhibits in the earth area.
This museum is huge, so many things to do. The prices are pretty reasonable and they even have a student discount. Lots of different galleries like dinosaurs, underwater gallery with a real whale skeleton, Bird gallery, and more! I often have two different specialty galleries that change often. they have the butterfly exhibit! Definitely a place to learn with lots of interactive activities for all ages
New Pterosaur exhibit was great. Could improve the overall museum if there was more kid friendly interactive exhibits
Love This Place ❤ The museum originated from a museum established by the Geological Survey of Canada in 1856. Originally based in Montreal, the museum relocated to downtown Ottawa in 1881. In 1911, the museum relocated to Victoria Memorial Museum Building. Initially a natural history museum, the institution later expanded to include an anthropology and human history department; with the institution renamed the National Museum of Canada in 1927. The departments of the national museum were later split into separate national institutions, with the natural history department forming the National Museum of Natural Sciences in 1968. The museum adopted its current name in 1990, after it was made its own autonomous crown corporation. From 2004 to 2010 the museum renovated and expanded the Victoria Memorial Museum Building.
I wish I had more time! Especially on the rocks floor! I love geology and anything rocks but I didn't have enough time to read everything and enjoy the displays. I will definitely go back!
Great exhibits of different animals and geology. Dioramas are excellent and lots of interesting facts and interactive components to exhibits.
Great place to visit for all ages.
Great experience. Kids loved it. Not our first visit and won't be our last.
Very cool, interactive features were pretty good, too. The rock displays in the Earth Gallery are so pretty.
I hadn't visited this museum for many years before today. I can tell you that it has only gotten better. The exhibits are clean and well thought out. There is something for everyone; there are interactive parts for the kids, live insects, all kinds of fossils (including dinosaurs) 3d films in the basement -$4 extra. The food in the cafe is fresh and flavorful. All in all, a great place to visit. Parking around 14 bucks and you'll want a few hours to look around
This is my first time to the Canadian Museum of Nature and it met my expectations. The building itself is an interesting piece of architecture. The museum spans four floors with various exhibits on each wing of the floor. The Butterfly Pavilion is extremely warm and colourful with all the different types of butterflies. If you happen to be in town on a Thursday night after 5 p.m. there is no admission fee. I think it's amazing that the museum is providing the opportunity for everyone to attend the museum if they choose. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday night being free is just enough time to do the whole museum. I recommend this museum as well for children and people of all ages. It is accessible to all as well.
Geological exhibit was outstanding. Rest of museum was underwhelming.
Wonderful museum. Remind me of the movie “A night in the museum “. Best place to learn lot of things
This is always a place we go when in Ottawa, we go a few times a year and can spend hours just wondering around. The dinosaurs are our favorite.
So many exhibits and they're all so cool! Even with the limited time I had, it was a lot of fun to explore the museum. If you're a dinosaur geek, you owe it to yourself to go here - they have an amazing display of fossils and dino info.
Nice exhibits, the Nocturne events are fun, daytime is great for kids and the butterfly gardens are really cool
Will have to come back some Thursday evening to explore this lovely place. We wish Ottawa would vary the free admission times rather than use Thursday evenings for all the museum's. That is what they do in Pueblo, Mexico.
One of the nicest venues in the city to host a wedding. Not only is the space so beautiful, but with all the natural light coming in, it's a dream to shoot at! The museum staff are friendly, and the food they serve is so delicious! The architecture of the place also makes it so that where ever you are in the museum, it's picture perfect.
Incredible Museum ❤️❤️ I have learnt a lot about the nature, earth. Ocean, animals and the world. Strongly recommending to visit this Museum if you come to Ottawa.
Very cool. Better for kids. Very interactive.
The special butterfly exhibit was the best. Live butterflies everywhere of all colours. Special exhibits are rotating all the time, so there is always something new. The permanent exhibits show case animals from across Canada really nicely. There is a huge exhibit just dedicated to birds across Canada.
Very organized, everything very clean, spectacular exhibits, we will definitely return.
I love the nature museum. Living so close and visiting fairly often, you would think we’d get tired of the same museum time after time, but they change around the exhibits so often that it’s always a new and exciting experience. If you can, make sure to see the butterflies before it’s over! It was so beautiful to have one land on you.
On my trip to ottawa this was my first stop, the ticket price is affordable, and the experience is worth it, the focus of making museums an interactive experience is present here, there is an interesting fossil display. without forgetting the minerals and the species, the place is super safe and tidy, with good attention from the museum team, you really entertain yourself, on the date I went there was a closed exhibition room that I hope to visit on a next trip.
Went to see the Brain exhibit and it was excellent.. End up signing for membership after they told me that if you have membership in the other main museum or gallery in Ottawa you can get a 20% discount on membership so basically 30$ more than the entrance of museum and special exhibit. They were offering 13th month free for Labour day weekend and and a special free ticket for a Friday evening monthly event. Would be back with membership to see more
With four floors and two exhibit halls on each floor it was perfect. Went with small kids and they were could run around and touch some of the exhibits. The staff was super helpful in all aspects. Vear wheel chair friendly and easy to access all parts of the museum. Also Thursday nights are free admission.
One of the best museum I've visited since Le palais des sciences in Paris. I really enjoyed the different exhibitions and the temporary ones too. Very interesting and interactive. I recommend anyone's stopping in Ottawa to take a moment and enjoy the many exhibitions this museum offers. If you come with kids the experience could only be better. The price isn't too high and the movies are very captivating. 5 stars for an amazing visit. Ottawa is definitely for me one of the best cities in Canada. Along with that there are plenty of museum to see in Ottawa. The museum is for all ages. You will discover new things and enjoy an amazing stay. I strongly recommend to take your time and explore every tiny corner. You will learn things you've never knew before.
Lots of cool things to look at. The sloth was awesome but sleeping. ????
A really good place to do tourism, there are multiple halls and the museum is really big, you can buy the tickets online, the place is not crowded The dinosaur hall is so great and the whale squeleton is amazing You can go with your kids they'll love it and if your first time in Ottawa it's a must to go place near to downtown and with a big parking lot
Oh my god I love this place so much. Its size is a bit small compared to national museum in other city but big enough to enjoy! Of course this museum has free admission time on Thurday(special exibitions are not included on free admission). Good for kids and family. I would recommend it and will definitely visit again.
This place has some great curb appeal and is dripping with history. An impressive outside to this building leads to a nice large entry and foyer steeped with parliamentary history. Many floors that are well laid out and eat to navigate. Excellent little children spots and plenty to keep your attention for hours. I highly recommend the Earth exhibit with all the fancy ores and minerals. At $15 dollars for an adult and even less for children and students, you can not go wrong here. Check this place out!
A resourceful place for curious minds. Very well maintained. Their 3D shows are knowledgeable and fun.
This place was great! We arrived just after lunch time and there were a handful of parking spaces left in the parking lot....which was on the smaller size. After about 3-4 hours in the museum it was about $14 CAD to park. Anyway, admission for 2 adults was about $32 CAD after tax. There are 4 different levels with different exibits on each level all with their own unique design and feel. Some areas were more interactive than others and there was a large mix of families with kids, to adults and older couples. Definitely a good variety for ALL ages. There were bathrooms and drinking fountains on every level. On the main entry there is a cafe and museum store (which was cute, but pretty small). Overall, I was impressed! Will definitely come back when I have kids!!!!!
Beautiful place but not everything is real.
Fun and adventurous way to learn the history of earth mammals birds n solar system
Huge!! Took us 5 hours to go through and we didnt even do the spécial exposition! Completly worth it!
Great visit. Today I took a friend and her two young children. They loved it. We saw the spectacular butterflies, visited the geological section and the dinosaur fosils. When visiting the dinosaur section you MUST go see the short free film called Extinction, it is incredibly well done and a fantastic experience. So much left to see at this Museum I'm very happy I bought a membership with a plus one option. It's worth every penny and has paid itself three times over.
Amazing place for the young and old. Their special exhibit are always awesome.
A family-friendly museum of nature with exhibitions on dinosaurs, rocks, mammals, insects, birds, ocean animals. A great place for children and adults. The building itself is absolutely stunning.
The museum is always a fun time to go to! We went on Thursday evening when it was free from 5-8pm. We also visited the butterfly exhibit and the sloth exhibit. The butterflies was a great experience but we found the sloth was a bit sad.... As I always find when you see animals in captivity a sad sight. It will probably be the last time I go on a Thursday during the holidays as some of the children were out of control, pulling on cabinets, walking AND sitting on the edge were you read all the documentation about the animals and mammals. As well I can't tell you how many times I heard a parent say in a worried voice "OMG where did Patrick go," and nervously walk around saying their child's name aloud as they lost them. I think all adults need to go to Nature nocturne as it's a fun adult experience for adults of any age. But a huge thank you to all employees and volunteers at the museum for everything you do, your hard work that Thursday evening did not go unnoticed and I hope you all had a glass of wine afterwards when you went home!
Great learning experience. Lots of interactive resources. A must for every parent in the area.
Well worth above and beyond the price of admission. We went here at about noon and spent the entire afternoon taking in the whole museum including the little cafe on the main floor. If you love science there is seriously a wing for you no matter your interest. The fossil specimens are really a spectacle and the taxidermy is really really wonderful. All in all we spent probably 5 hours here (including the butterfly exhibit which was top notch and a real fairy tale experience) and we could easily go back another time and have just as much fun. The top floor has the Canada Goose Arctic exhibition right now which was so beautiful and really a wonderful way to showcase northern indigenous cultures in Canada.
Lots of interactive exhibits broken in to smaller sections. The special exhibition of butterflies was incredible. Friendly and helpful staff. Bilingual service.
Best Museum of Ottawa. Highly recommended to visit once????????????????????????
I loved this place. Go on Thursday at around 5:30 to visit without paying.
highly recommended! worth every penny
really nice. the kids were quite excited the whole time. 2 hours is far from enough to enjoy all of it though... bring a lunch and plan 3-4 hours
It was little bit hard to get close with them, but totally worthy to visit!
Planning to get married in 2020 was stressful to say the least. Our venue, the Museum of Nature, was extremely flexible and supportive of all the changes we had to make throughout. Working with Diane was an absolute delight. We are so lucky to have had vendors like this with us through a stressful time. I have nothing but good things to say about the museum and it’s customer service - it’s also a beautiful and fun place in general!
Great museum, lots to see and do. Free on Thursday evenings was a huge bonus
Great museum, lots to see and do. Free on Thursday evenings was a huge bonus
Enjoyed the museum very much. The place is huge with wonderful and very realistic looking animals on display.
Went here on Canada day. Great museum!
Its diverse and well organized and the kids loved it.
Love going there always interesting
Amazing place! Endless hours of exploring, learning, and fun! Great for families and kids will love it! Bring lunch or takeout so you can spend entire day there. So much to see! Enjoy ????
Well maintained and very educational to visit.
Love this place! Currently they have an owl exhibit in the courtyard and it captivated the children. Great day of exploring and learning. Combine this with the stunning building it is housed in and you have a great day out.
A day well spent learning and exploring earthing all its natural world
Well worth the money! The 4 floors of exhibits were very interactive and insightful. Not too busy either.
Lots of hands on learning experiences for kids and adults; not just a passive looking experience. The architecture of the place is beautiful with high ceilings, big staircases and big elevators. There is plenty to do and learn for a full day. Full size diaramas, a walk-in cave, interactive displays such as "machines" where you configure heat and pressure settings to form different types of rocks, games to recognize bird songs, magnification device hooked up to a large screen to look at details on insects, live insects, interspersed with passive displays that were nevertheless interesting and logically placed. Good experience and definitely recommended.
Has some wonderful displays with animals, and dinosaur fossils. Alot of interactive elements that were still open to the public as well. While the fossil display might lack popular regulars like Tyrannosaurus, the special exhibit with life like Albertasaurs and Chasmasaurs make up for it!
The exhibits are clear, entertaining and interactive, making for a great mode of education. We did not get to see all the exhibits, but will be back to see the rest! The line to get tickets was long, but we bought tickets online while in the queue, and hopped over to the ticket holders' line - got in quick after that
Amazing building with something interesting, for both kids and adults, on each side of each floor. There's elevators for strollers or an impressive staircase. The food was excellent in the cafe and the gift shop had lots of quality items. We spent quite a few hours with our young kids.
Very organized, everything very clean, spectacular exhibits, we will definitely return.
Must visit place!!! They put a lot of effort to restore it, just by looking at all those detail, thank you all the staffs behind the scenes!
My 7 year old daughter is already asking to go back. Hoping to return next year.
Great museum. Lots of amazing exhibits
Nice museum - spacious and good for kids. Lots of stairs but elevators can be used. Lots of nooks and crannies. I'm sure we missed things some events change so best to review beforehand.
Excellent place to educate your kids in the weekends. I came alone and enjoyed it. There are mammal, ocean, earth, insects, and dinosaur exhibitions. They are all pretty amazing, tho they can have more samples in the rooms. The butterfly exhibition is $5. The room is pretty small, much smaller than your apartment. But you all see all kinds of butterflies inside. It is meant for the kids, but I like it a lot too as an adult. But only question is "what is their fate in the end?" I saw one dying by the small fall under the leave and I asked the staff for help. The girl that scans your ticket is also helpful and kind too. She reminded me of some of the general rules inside. But I am not sure if she told everyone the same or just me.
The special butterfly exhibit was the best. Live butterflies everywhere of all colours. Special exhibits are rotating all the time, so there is always something new. The permanent exhibits show case animals from across Canada really nicely. There is a huge exhibit just dedicated to birds across Canada.
5 stars for when the butterflies were there.
Just wonderful collection of Canadian history. The exhibitions were very insightful and informative, as I would recommend for history buffs.
Cool museum.. More to see at the next visit. Interesting architecture-juxtaposition of the new and the old. The exhibits are quite detailed, well maintained and descriptions with some humour.. doesn't take itself so seriously. To be updated further..
Great place to take the family & lots of exhibits to look at! 4 floors worth! Good mix of exhibits: Dinosaurs, Mammals, Sea Creatures, Earth, Bugs & Birds, Arctic. Spent over 3hrs and could still go back to see more.
It's a great museum. They have some great exhibits. They also keep bring special exhibits and many of the old ones continue to get upgrades with some nice technology. My daughter loves this museum if she could be there every day she would.
Exhibits are so well done. Attic exhibit is just wonderful. They also have a fantastic rock/gem exhibit
Spent the whole day enjoying the museum, especially love the butterfly and animal section
Excellent place to visit especially if you have kids.
The kids love this place always.. Love butterflies!
So amazing and super spacious ,it has dinosaurs, birds, space section etc even a few real bugs show cased in they're enclosures super awesome for family learning ,and exploring fun, highly recommended.
Wow it’s a good place to visit with kids . They will love it.
The visit to the museum before the last enforcement of pandemic measures went well although one of the two elevators wasn’t working which made the wait much longer to visit with a baby in a stroller.
This is a great museum! Lots of interesting exhibits. It's good to go with without your kids if you want to actually have time to really look at what they have there.
My son and I enjoyed the museum while we were visiting Ottawa
Oh man. I feel like a young kid going through the exhibits not to mention that our son had a blast in the dinosaur exhibit. We literally had to drag him out because he did not want to see the other exhibits. The dinosaur one got filled very fast and had a lineup almost at all time but traffic was steady.
Great exhibits, good attention to distancing
Beautiful castle style building.great displays and good for kids all ages. The dinosaur little movie is free and only 10 minutes...it's free on Thursday from 5-8 otherwise it's about $50 for the family.. parking is extra but free on street after 5:30 .
I hosted an event here for work. The event coordinators, and AV techs were phenomenal! Form beginning to end it was the perfect room for 165 people!
A big museum. You need at least 5-6 hours to fully explore the museum. Must watch 3d movie named Inside my backyard. A really cool movie.
Do yourself a favor a plan a whole day to see everything, especially with kids. 10/10 so much to see!
A bit small but good for an afternoon experience. Kids definitely enjoyed themselves.
Honestly this is a beautiful museum with great exhibits that my son really loves. We were actually excited to go get a membership! But now we see that although the tax dollars of all canadians partially fund this place, some aren't allowed to visit. We can't support organizations that continue to discriminate, especially when there is no legal requirement to do so. Not to mention the people who really suffer are the children who are being punished for the decisions of their parents. Very sad!
Such a beautiful museum, the stained glass was so beautiful, I didn't except to see so many themed pieces throughout the building.
Excellent galleries. Amazing staff. Perfecr for couples, families, children etc. Amazing monthly Nature Nocturne events! The butterfly exhibit is the best.
Great museum for all ages. Located in the heart of downtown, so it's very accessible by public transit. There are 4 floors of exhibits which include special limited time exhibits as well as the ones which are present year round. General admission (not including special exhibits) is free on Thursday evenings from 5pm-8pm! Kids under 2 are also free. The butterflies in flight exhibit which will be there until March 31, 2020, is a treat. You get the opportunity to walk around a butterfly habitat! Butterflies do land on you and flutter very close to people so that's something to know in advance. Definitely worth checking out!
So many amazing galleries to visit. We've been 4 times in the last few months and my 6-year-old still gets excited to go back. Tons of fascinating stuff for kids and adults alike. The live butterflies are a special treat
Amazing experience!
The museum was very well organized for the amount of people that were allowed in during each timeslot. Highly recommend buying tickets ahead of time as space is limited to provide a safe experience for everyone.
My daughter (10 months) and I had a thrilling time here. She was enjoying the exhibits, especially the birds. This place offers many visually stunning exhibits so I recommend buying a ticket for one afternoon. You will not be disappointed. Also, this place is very accessible if you bring a stroller. It also isn't overly crowded and patrons do respect space and follow COVID restrictions/guidelines.
Loved the museum. So many different exhibitions. And of course, the dinosaurs! A café is good, found something not too expensive in the gift shop as well. Basically spent the whole day there, with a lunch break if the café. Very entertaining for kids, there’s loads to do! Great experience!
There is a huge selection in the exposition. There are activities worth an entire day in the museum. You’ll need the time if you want to go through everything. It is quite interactive so you don’t get bored. The movie theater was somewhat disappointing, I was expecting something more exciting. Overall, it was a great experience!
Have visited 4 times in 10 years. There is a lot of writing to explain the exhibits, however few exhibits, and not a lot of change in 10 years. Now there are many closed areas and restrictions due to COVID-19.
Amazing place to spend the day with the family. The exhibits are just amazing. Way to go Canada!!!
this place make me want to breathe one's last. The dinosaurs were poorly seasoned and didn't taste good :( 9/10 would recommend to kids
I great museum. Lots of reading and less activities especially during the pandemic. I don’t recommend bringing your toddlers if they are loud. There is a new owl exhibit where you can see different owls!
Wonderful Natural History Museum with lots of Hands-On exhibits. Very educational. I particularly enjoyed the rock and mineral exhibit. Fortunately the butterfly exhibit was open when I visited. Very much worth the extra $5.
4 floors, 7 rooms to visit. It took us 5 hours to visit the whole museum. Family friendly and kids loved it. I have never seen my kids so patient and exited in a museum.
Beautiful Museum that I think is a must see while in Ottawa. If you happen to be there on Thursday it's free admission from 5pm-8pm! Great range of exhibits from mammals and sea life to space and minerals and there is also a live butterfly conservatory for limited time right now. The building itself smoothly integrates a modern section into this old historic stone building.
Great Museum, went with 2 of my best friends and couldn’t have enjoyed it more. Was a great experience and recommend to anyone in Ottawa!
Absolutely love this museum. Lots of things to see. We watched the Volcano 3D video which is well worth the $4 additional cost. Dinosaur fossils are 85% real (according to their info). The collection of exhibitions is great in diversity. The section of water and plastic garbages is very educational. The part of earth, volcanos, earthquake and rocks are also interesting. We could easily spend more than a day there to go through everything.
My kids loved it! 5&3 some parts were advanced for them. But it was still a great activity to go and get out of the house to do. We spent around 2.5 hours there. Kids loved the dinosaur and bug exhibit.
It's a very well organized, super clean and very well stocked museum. Section for birds and live owls is very captivating.
This is a very big museum with lot of interesting things to explore. The staffs inside the museum are very friendly. Need to get tickets before to avoid long queue. This museum has maintained very well and its very beautiful in some areas to take pictures. This museum has 4 floors it takes 2 hrs to check them all without rush. I loved it. Kids will have lot of things to learn. It's a very good interactive museum.
Had a great time visiting the butterfly exhibit. The rest of the museum was great as usual but this is a must do for any nature lovers; it was very peaceful and relaxing.
Staff are friendly and nature museum is free on Thursdays. It is also cool and interesting. My family and us had visit here and went to see the butterflies.. My daughter was screaming and scared of the giant moth so we had to leave with only little pictures. Was fun and cool to see and visit.
Very cool museum. Definitely must see if in Ottawa.
Many new as well as older exhibits. Fascinating section on butterflies.
Went to see the butterfly exhibit! It was beautiful! A bit small compared to the one in Toronto. It was only 5$ so it was worth it. My daughter thought it was amazing.
Very impressed with everything - displays, cleanliness, everything in good working order. Great mineral display, butterflies were great, short movies were good. Nice how things are grouped - mammals, sea animals, dinosaurs etc.
They had us crowded into an indoor switch back line to attend an outdoor exhibit! We left and didn't attend. If it's advertised as outdoor activities, make the entire process outdoors.
Beautiful. with a large area for children to play, rest, and the book collection. The beautiful 3D movie !!. A very beautiful building with good security and good access.
Amazing place for kids and adults. Really loved it.. if you are in Ottawa don't missed it. I recommend you must see at least least once. Trust me you will remember the day. Outstanding you can see the photos that I uploaded pretty and very knowledgeable please to visit.
Amazing science museum! Great exhibits on fossils, ocean life, geology, and so much more. Honestly felt much more informative than the average American museum (sorry USA). The exhibits were fun yet informative, without being too flashy. Highly recommend a visit.
This was one of my favorite museum. The have a lot of topics and there are is super interesting to see and now about the nature, Canada and the first nation people
The museum exhibition halls may appear small but the exhibits are well designed with lots of interactive stations. Each area has a kids' play area so families with young kids have a convenient place to entertain the children. The ground floor dining area has two microwave ovens and water cooler so families who want to save some money on food can pack it along with a reheat option. On-site cafeteria menu items are around $9 for something like a deli sandwich. During our visit, the Microbes special exhibit was on and the stations were very well done. The Canada Goose Arctic exhibit has a very nicely done ice projection exhibit.
Got some really nice pictures and love the displays! ????
An excellent and existing time for the family, especially kids.
Such a cool place to visit and so much to see! Great for kids with lots of interactive displays and tactile exhibits.
They continue to make a.funnexperience less and less fun for kida. It used to be the coolest museum for an afternoon with kiddos!
It's free on thursday. If you have a car, you need to pay five dollars for parking. It have mainly four categories: arctic living creature and its relationship with people living there, dinosaurs and fossil, living insects and birds samples, and sea living creatures. It's a spacious museum so it's not very crowded even when there are a lot of visitors. It has very interactive ways to teach people different stuff. Interactive ways include games, videos, samples, and sounds. Overall, its a great place to visit on thursday. Side notes: it closes at 8pm
Really cool museum!!! Loved the owl exhibit!!!
Great place to take a date or for a field trip with the kids! Lots to see and do, including many interactive exhibits and more!
It’s huge! When I saw the building, I didn’t think the museum would be that big, but it is. It’s well sectioned into different themes. We were doing a Halloween scavenger hunt and my daughter had lots of fun. I found the top floor - space and the Arctic the most interesting and unique, but could barely comprehend anymore info by that point. I would really advise on two visits if possible. They had an owl exhibit outside and that was great too. Loved seeing the owls. Wish the cafe was open.
Very good
Nice place to bring the kids and even adults
One of my favorite musées !
Great museum to bring kids to. I came alone and had a great time but would have enjoyed it more if I brought my kids. The butterfly exhibit is a little smaller than expected but still pretty cool. The woman working at the butterfly exhibit …
A great experience for a family adventure. Organized departments, pretty clean, easy navigation and a full collection of what that absorb attention from kids to seniors.
Awesome place, can't missed if you go to ottawa covid protocols are good, spotless and excellent customer service
A great museum for all ages, with amazing displays, terrific dinosaurs and the best geology area I've ever seen. The butterflies are fascinating and fun to watch, and the variety will keep everyone looking!
Lots of fun stuff to do for all ages. Loved it!
Fun place for the kids, especially the owls and insects
Great experience....
Learned a lot after my visit to this museum. Totally worth it!
Was a little rushed because of our reservation time, but, still loads of fun for the kiddies.
This was an awesome experience. Being there with kids wouldn't give you enough tile to see everything. I will definitely go back by my own. Even though many activities are shut down because of covid there is still plenty to discover and see. Great place.
Very cool exhibits and huge museum. Some of the sections are less cool than others but great way to spend an afternoon.
Really great info/displays, lots of interactive opportunities. My only complaint would be how slow the elevators were.
Went for the special expo on the survival of the slow. The permanent collection is also impressive. The bird floor is quite informative.
Great museum, but my kids were let down by the "no touching rule" stamped literally everywhere. Kids will be kids...
For such a large place, I felt as if there could have been more to see. And skip the elevator - its the slowest I've ever encountered.
Great for kids. 4 floors of nature facts and animals. Kids will love dinosaurs and arctic ice on the top floor. Food is also available on lower level in case your hungry. Reasonable price 12.50$ adult children under 10 is 9$

For nature lovers.. This is the best... Beautifully displayed... Great time.. Prepare a good time of your day to appreciate it
This is my favorite Ottawa museum dating back to childhood. The exhibits are interesting and the architecture of the building is really nice. Parking is a bit of a challenge but if you're coming for the free hours it seems to be better than during weekend or peak hours.
I love Museum of Nature
Great visit. The wife really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife and REALLY enjoyed the temporary butterfly exhibit. As people who have gone to the butterfly conservatory in Niagara on multiple occasions it was great to see the differences. This exhibit had a smaller area but almost no people and almost instantly had butterflies land on us where as the conservatory in Niagara took 45 minutes before one would land on you. The building is old and beautiful but would have been nice if there were signs to help suggest a direction to take through each area.
It was good to see The cost was a tad steep. Myself and 14 year old daughter was $48.00 and we skipped the movie. Didn't have to pay for parking as we walked from the hotel. The displays were nice rocks and minerals a little too much. We love museums but students should be free. $25.00 for me I can understand. Or at least the students should be reduced. I was expecting a little more.
This is a great museum to visit for all ages. Their regular exhibits range from dinosaurs to geology. They are informative, and there are a number of interactive exhibits, as well as plenty of items and artifacts to observe. There are also additional exhibits you can pay to experience. For instance they have 3d movies, and currently a butterfly exhibit. During peak hours it can be a fairly long wait to get in. Parking in their lot can also be difficult, as it fills up quickly. There is, however, plenty of parking nearby, with a short walk. A visit here can get expensive if you plan to visit the special exhibits, and factor in parking for those who take advantage of their lot. That being said there is plenty of value for the money you spend. Overall a great experience.
Wonderful experience! Interesting and educational displays.
Ugh i just love it there, it's not a huge museum but it has a lot of things to look at. Worth a visit.
I love to spend family time here. Kids love dinosaurs and aquatic life permanent exhibits, and temporary exhibits are always interesting and creative. Highly recommended.
Always a fun time with the kids at the museum. Wear bright colours for the butterflies!
A definite must for those visiting Ottawa. The displays are great, and the architecture of museum adds to the experience. The museum is free on Thursdays if I'm correct. The museum is worth going back to as they have certain sections that house temporary exhibits.
Love coming here with my 4 year old. He is always excited seeing the exhibitions.
Got some really nice pictures and love the displays! ????
Staff was very helpful ..
It was a lot of fun! Lots to see for all ages.
Great museum with lots to see! Loved the Arctic exhibition!
So many things to see and do. Wonderful exhibits and interactive activities for kids and adults. It's unfortunate that the cost to visit may be prohibitive for many young families.
This museum was so peaceful and quiet. I enjoyed every exhibit and it was very clean. Good place to go to if you are into museums and are visiting Ottawa. Take friends with you!
Would have scored a 5 but booking the last time slot we were booted out before we could see the whole place. I guess we'll have to go back. Book an early slot so you can see all the exhibits.
Wonderful museum. Remind me of the movie “A night in the museum “. Best place to learn lot of things
I liked the visit to the museum; very organized and with several levels. It has access for people with disabilities and cafeteria.
World-class museum. Gorgeous building that has been modernized and outfitted with some quality exhibits.
An awesome museum with tremendous galleries. A wonderful learning experience!
Very big and interesting museum with different zones to see. Highly recommended for all ages!
An extremely cool and educational place to go for a few hours. Nice little cafe to relax at, several informative exhibits, and a free evening to visit on Thursdays.
Visited this museum in Feb 2020, so many things to see and learn. Different sections on different floors. There is a lot for kids only even must visit for them. You can see 3D movie as well, need minimum 3 - 4 hours to visit and enjoy everything. Only one section I didn’t enjoy, that was microbe section, and their is a separate ticket for that. There is a cafe situated on 1st floor to satisfy your taste buds, good food in reasonable price. Overall a nice experience.
Good ol' museum of Nature. Good place to kill about 3 hours with the kids, they had a blast. 19 months and 6 year old. Dinosaur exhibition was my 6 year olds favorite part, but the other areas were just as entertaining. Next time we go back hopefully covid will be done all the exhibits will be fully operational.
Interesting blend of architectural styles as you visit four floors of exhibits. A great place to take kids.
Massive, very detailed. Tech forward and easy to walk through. Worth every penny!
I'm not sure how a publicly-subsidized museum can discriminate openly based on medical information. Shameful segregation.
I liked the visit to the museum; very organized and with several levels. It has access for people with disabilities and cafeteria.
Wonderful exhibits and the butterfly exhibit was particularly impressive!
I don't know where to start with the amazing experiences my family and I have had at this place. The varied themes - dinosaurs, minerals, water, birds, environmental change, the arctic, provide so many ways to learn about nature and our world. Good interactive displays! The ones in the mineral exhibit are fun and kids love to hammer on them! Even with Covid restrictions, a visit is a great time. And the ways they have arranged the elevators and stairs make it a very safe experience. Great family outing!
So cool..if you want to see more animals taxidermied and live insects, as well as info on the galaxy and planets and crystals and MORE...check it out! Allow 2 hours here and go with a pal who thoroughly enjoys the same buzz as you. Or go alone. That's always nice too
Have been a member for 4 or 5 years now, love it!
One of the most beautiful museums in Ottawa to visit, if you are in the city you must have to visit that one ????
Great place, even if you are in Ottawa for one day stop, worth visiting!
Excellent experience! We enjoyed the special owl exhibit and the permanent exhibits were fabulous, ad always.
Loved it, I went ere specifically for the artic section. Great collection of gems, really amazing nature!!
Beautiful offcource.
I had such a good day here, I didnt plan on staying very long but there were lots of activities and films and exhibits to keep us busy all day. My favorite part was the insects and butterflies. All the staff was nice and security handled the mini power outage well. Get there early. Elevators take a while, beautiful views from the staircase. Paying extra for the butterflies is worth it. If you're not into dinos the 3d movie is a little boring, even though its voiced by David attenborough.
It was very interesting to see the animals, insects and rocks. It's a nice place to go visit as a family
Great place for kids to explore
Very nice and clean. They take covid precautions consistently and seriously.
We learned so much. Great place to take the kids.
One of the best museums you can go to in Ottawa
Great museum with awesome pieces on display. It's a shame that it closes so early (4PM), we had to skip one of the wings entirely.
Had so much fun at the museum. Check out the 4-D cinema and the butterfly garden while you are here!
To me, the best of the area museum. The museum building is amazing and the exhibit are super instructive and of many different theme. We stayed there a good 2 hour and half but more time would have been needed to visit the all thing.
Although some exhibit s were closed due to the COVID it was a exalant experience.
Great museum with interesting exhibits! Well worth it, would definitely go back. The whale skeleton was of great interest, and the dioramas are top notch.
This museum is really good however definitely need 4 hours to do everything we had to rush through the rocks and gems area just to hit up every display.
Excellent experience. The exhibits are so informative for kids as well as adults.
Excellent activity on a rainy day. Well designed and very interactive displays that are creative and unique. Good for kids of all ages.
I love that this museum is very child-oriented and very educational. The building itself is gorgeous. The best part is that it’s free every Thursday from 17:00-20:00.
This was my second visit and it was better than the first one! Everything is amazing here and I loved the live butterfly exhibit. If you are in town, it's a must see.
We are huge fans of this place! We visit it every year and every time we find something that we haven’t noticed before. The territory is huge, with so many things to explore that you can easily spend 2-3 hours there. With the start of the pandemic some activities are closed, but it is still very entertaining for kids. It’s nice that it is free every Thursday after 5. I will definitely recommend visiting it!
Very interesting .I love it.
Amazing place!! The museum itself is awesome and worth the visit; our group of 5 people got the extra fun ride since there was also music and dance going on the night we went there. ($22,12 CAD per person - 19+ photo ID required - drinks costing around $7 CAD average) Between dancing our worries away and drinking some beers we got to chill out around the exposition areas and rest a little bit with the interactive activities before hitting the dance floor again. Never imagined to have such an experience inside a museum, I enjoyed everything about it. (good event to go on a date night, by the way!)
One of the places where you can learn about nature casually. Very good for kids.
Freaking Awesome; both the kids ans I loved it.
Really great museum to bring your kids to. They have some really interesting things about animals, fish and nature. You learn new species you were not aware of. The kid activity zone is really nice.
My daughter loved the dinosaurs. She didn't wanna leave that room. We went to the slow animals special exhibit. There was too many people. So that part was a waste of money. The set up wasn't good for everyone to have a good look. Weird since there was a section with chairs right besides.
They have changed some of the exhibits since the last time we were there. A lot of new interactive displays now which is great. It's a great way to learn about the world around us for both young and old. We were a little disappointed by the special installation on microbes. It was interesting but I had hoped they would have had microscopes to see living specimens.
NICE AND HELPFUL AS USUAL.
Excellent experience. Very interesting exhibits, and lots of great content to keep the kids happy and engaged. Overall, I would highly recommend for a great family visit. P.S. Note for parents with infants and visitors in wheelchair, the building is four floors tall, and the elevators are ungodly small. Make sure to budget for extra time when moving between floors.
I loved coming here as a kid! Sadly because of covid we haven't planned a trip, but it's definitely on the list of things to do after. If you're a tourist or have never been here, it's really worth a visit!!
It's a nice museum in a gorgeous building. Overall liked the museum. The dinosaurs were very exciting for the party I was with and was the highlight of their visit. There are live insects on one of the floors that spooked the party which I found funny. I guess they're not for the faint of heart. They are doing a good job with the social distancing and signage. I'm not sure what I went in there expecting to get but I felt the cost of admission was slightly high for the size of the museum. I'd return and I believe the party would as well.
Very good for small children. Lots to see and touch. My 5 and 7 especially enjoyed the stuffed animals and gems.
Another successful visit at the museum
I went to visit the butterfly show... It was beautiful to spend an evening at the museum ...
Absolutely fabulous place! So much to see and do with your toddler! Will Definitely be back!
Really great place to take the kids. Highly recommend
Went here two years ago and loved the exhibits (especially the Giant African Land Snails/bees)
Excellent museum, especially for kids. Very friendly and helpful staffs.
An iconic visit, beautiful displays and super informative. Great time for children and adults.
Great museum
Good layout. Compact, but much to see. Reasonable fee
Great exhibition space with plenty of dine in options in the building. I went for the Dreamworks exhibition and it was fantastic. You can also walk or drive into Ottawa from here easily.
Stunning museum that throws weekly events! Clean, well organized, fun.
Wish the Cafe had been opened for drinks.
Wonderful place for the children, parking is off street. I would rather pay $14.00 then leave my car parked on the street.
This is worth the visit. Lots of great things to see. Tons of hands on stations for the kids. A perfect spot for schools on field trips. There is a separate group area for schools to eat lunch and store bags. Perfect location. Parking is so so.
It's a fun way to spend the day, especially for kids.
A fun and informative little museum. Takes about 90 minutes to check it all out
This museum had so much to offer and explore!! It has informative displays appropriate for both adults and children. The building itseld has so much interesting history and architecture to look at which is also incredible. My favourite exhibit would have to be the geology/ space exhibit. This museum also has touring exhibits that are periodically available to visit. I would reccomend only paying to visit those if you know you'll have time to see that section too, as the standard exhibits do take long to go through if you have never been before.
One of the more unique museums in Ottawa. The old building gives this site a special appearance. There are multiple exhibitions in the museum with some stalwart exhibits like the dinosaurs and the regional dioramas. We tried to see the live butterfly exhibit but it gets sold out early. Parking can be troublesome as their two lots aren’t very big. Sometimes street parking nearby is the best option.
Excellent , it was a Gr8 experance and worth visit
Visited the museum for the butterfly exhibit. Event was very well organized. Would recommend going during the day as the butterflies are more active in the sun
Had another great visit with my daughter, we spent over 4 hours looking around and didn't even get to the big section. The Pterosaur exhibit had some great information and the interactive activities on flying we're cool. For a hot Summer afternoon it wasn't as busy as I thought it was going to be.
Due to covid all tickets are always "SOLD" OUT". So... we pay for it but they try to work as little as possible. Right on comrades.
The butterfly solarium was well worth the extra $5.
Incredible place for all ages!
What a great museum! First time there and gotta say it was amazing. Dinosaurs, Arctic, Universe… so much to see and worth every penny. Also they seem to have this Covid arrows and sanitizer thing up to par, and the people counting counter is cool. Definitely recommended.
Lovely museum, good social distancing and security. There were some very interesting exhibits on dinosaurs, rocks/minerals, and Indigenous learnings in Northern Canada. Overall would recommend when it opens up again.
Would have scored a 5 but booking the last time slot we were booted out before we could see the whole place. I guess we'll have to go back. Book an early slot so you can see all the exhibits.
Amazing experience even in Covid. Organized flow through massive and impressive exhibits. We were so impressed with their collection of REAL Dino bones, precious gem stones, and more. It was exciting and fun for the whole family. A must do in Ottawa!
This museum is fairly nice, but it has some flaws. The day Inwas there, both elevators broke. I was with someone who can't do stairs, so we had to wait. Once they were fixed, they still took turns in breaking down again. As for the exhibits, they are nice, particularly the bird exhibit, but after having been to the ROM and the Smithsonian, this place feels kind of rinky dink. Which is sad when it is our NATIONAL museum. The best part of this museum is seeing the Blue whale skeleton!
Never a dull moment here. Lots of rotating exhibits and a really good 4D theatre, the images really do feel like they are in front of you. The classics are there too such as all the geology stuff and dinosaurs. I can always come here with the kids for a great time. Wish parking was free but that’s about the only downside.
3 star cause the owls were panting and hot and there wasn't any ice or anything cool to keep them comfortable. The museum was clean, clearly laid out to keep everyone safe and staff was very nice. Especially the women that checked our ticket and got us in. My littles loved that she was also a twin and talked about it the rest of the visit
Canada's Museum of Nature never fails to impress, it's countless exhibits, packed with thousands of minerals, fossils, mammals, birds, fish, and even live bugs, there is a nearly infinite amount of things to look at. The museum also offers many interactive activities such as informational tablets with subcategories and many visuals, memory games, matching games, even scientific experiment games! In addition the museum was clean, organized, and staff was very friendly. Entrance fee is about 17$ for an adult (15$ for students), and about 30% cheaper for kids. Overall an amazing activity for anyone of any age and with anh group. Expect to spend at least 2-3 hours if you are doing the full tour.
Awesome place for family and kids. 5 stars.
We love this place it was great
The new artic exhibit was extremely great... This museum is extremely informative and a nice place to visit
Highly recommended! The place is very educational not just for kids but also for the adults.
Great dinosaur exhibition, delightful butterfly house and plenty more. Allow a full day
An Ottawa favourite. Annual membership was worth it just to be able to hang out with the butterflies in the dead of winter. You don't have to have kids to enjoy the rotating special exhibits!
We had such a great time at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Plan on spending 3+ hours here. We spent extra on the brain exhibit; I wouldn't say it was entirely worth it, but there were some hands-on activities. The other galleries were incredible though! We watched a video on the dinosaur extinction, saw a huge skeleton of a blue whale, saw live bugs, learned about the world's water (and learned a lot about climate change). There's even a cafe where we had some delicious quiche and salad! Con- We went on a Tuesday morning as soon as the museum opened, and we were quickly joined by many school groups. These students acted like the children they are - running, climbing on exhibits, talking loudly - and needed additional chaperones.
Unbelievable place. Great for the kids as well as the adults. Lots to see.
Nice museum with interesting displays. Definitely aimed more towards young children though - good for young children. Slightly overpriced for the value, best to go on on a Thursday evening when admission is free. The building itself is beautiful. You have to pay for parking, best to find street parking nearby instead.
Accidentally went on March Break and there were hella kids, but I had fun nonetheless! The water and insect exhibits were my favourite and we even got to see some sloths that made a special appearance.
Amazing place! Has an overall fun atmosphere
Had for a quick visit on Thursday evening, best time to go because of the free admission. Got to see a couple exhibits and then had to leave but some very interesting stuff. Also the nature trade is a cool con where you can bring something in knowing the details of it and can trade it for points. And the points can be used to redeem for items. Ranging from fossils to large pine cones.
I have never seen any dino skeletons in my life and these were for free? It really put a smile on my face. The enviromental part of the museum focused on the oceans and pollution might not be as exciting but I really appreciate the education of current topics. Plus some extra on global warming.
Just spent almost 5hrs at the museum with a 2 and a half year old! She had something to do everywhere and outlasted me. Really fun and the staff take time when they get a chance to tell kids about different facts about animals which is awesome. We go here all the time but as our kid gets older we're spending the better part of the day at the museum. Highly recommend going to the museum.
Pretty fun place, If you have kids and wants a break this is the perfect place. But it's interesting for everyone, it's the Ottawa version of the London National History Museum.

Stunning museum and best in Ottawa, in my humble opinion. The exhibitions are incredible, the artwork and the details to make each one look as realistic as possible really do make the $15 entry worthwhile. The insects aren't stuffed, just a fair warning if you're not into seeing live roaches and tarantulas. You'll need 2-3hrs to see it all without rushing through, if you have kids then more than 3hrs since there are plenty of interactive games for them along the way. I saw the whole thing twice over because it was just that incredible! There's even a picnic area inside if you prefer to bring your own food. Loved it all, the building alone is a real sight!
Lots of fascinating information about our planet, and the creatures that live in it!
Awesome museum, love the dinosaur part!!!! A lot of fun interactive things were out of order due to pandemic safety measures but I still really enjoyed my experience. It took us approximately 3 hours to cruise through each levels. We were not able to read everything as it was fairly busy and we felt rushed in certain areas because it was busy. The safety measures in place are pretty good at this time. I feel like the map they give you at the entrance needs further explanations on how to explore the museum at this time. It would of been helpful but other than that, it was great. I saw the very friendly staff disinfect areas quite often as well. The live owls on the first floor were truly amazing!!!
Great museum. We loved the interactivity. Great minerals collection and it's presented in a really interesting and engaging way.
Fantastic place with plenty to see. The live insects and the Arctic galleries are fascinating. Must do while visiting Ottawa
Our 4 year old grandson loves this museum.seeing the butterflies is always high on the priority list. He then has his highspots to check out, but there is always something new and different to explore.
The best natural museum to me. Interesting exhibitions, great staff, super events.
The best natural museum to me. Interesting exhibitions, great staff, super events.
Amazing experience. Try 3D movie it's the best.
Always a pleasant experience visiting this museum, which features an earth science/mineral collection, a bug world, birds/animal world, sea creatures including a giant blue wheel skeleton, dinosaur world, and other special collections. Most of the displays are situated to allow close observation by the visitors. There are also plenty of interactive displays for touch and feel, and other levels of interaction. The architecture of the museum itselg is interesting too.
One of the best museums! Everything from the building, to the exhibits, to the staff are all top-notch. The building is gorgeous and full of history. The exhibits are very well done, with lots of the animals and plants looking lifelike. There’s tons of interactive exhibits as well. This museum is entertaining and informative for all ages! I highly recommend it!
The most amazing museum in Ottawa for families. We had an amazing time exploring all of the permanent and new exhibits. The kids were engaged the whole time (ages 8, 10, 15).
I spent 5 hours at the museum with kids 7 and 9 years old. We really enjoyed it. Displays are very well done. There are multiple interactive screens to entertain kids. Favourite part was the butterflies exposition. There are different kinds of butterflies. I would recommend to wear colourful clothes which attract the butterflies. I'd highly recommend for a family activity .
The 7-day Tour East Bus trip that I’m traveling on stopped here; we have 50 tourists in our group. The $222.50 attractions package includes access to the Whale Watching Boat Tour, Thousand Island Boat Tour, Hopewell Rocks, Maritime Museum, etc., of which this attraction is one of the experiences. This is the final day of our trip and time to pack in a few more sights before heading home. Although we only spent one hour at the Canadian Museum of Nature, it wasn’t enough to see all 5 level of this building. I decided to concentrate my efforts on the 3rd (Earth, Bird, Nature Live) and the 2nd (Water, Mammal) level exhibits. Historical & Fascinating Canada ????????
Beautiful building from outside too Simple layout and detached galleries makes it easy to navigate and keep control with little ones Cafe is simple. Parking easy and not too bad at $5
Sorry for the only 3 stars but I have a very high standard for Natural History museums. Museum is great for kids with a lot of activities, its very versatile covering a lot of topics from paleontology to Earth science. However, it is very short for adults, unless you are clueless about Science. A lot of phylogenetics information is missing (name the specimen!). Fossil collection is poor (dinos are not just Trex and Triceratops!). Insect collection is miserable and jumble. Mammal collection is poor but set-up is beautiful. Birds collection is OK. Oh and last thing : I am aware of sanitary restrictions, bit please stop taking public for stupid sheeps and remove these arrows everywhere or these security guys enforcing it. I know how to protect myself and the others, I dont need to walk in herds following arrows for that. Thanks !
Museums are always mind expanding. The dinosaurs exhibit is world-class. The minerals display are precious!
The museum is wonderful, interesting lectures, exebition and friendly staff. Every Thursday its free from 5 p.m. till 8 p.mm
Amazing, so beautiful things, dinosaurs, stuffed animals, and the earth! Learned so much about earth. Kids enjoyed a lot!
I learned so much. I wish I had more time. The place is huge. Very "woke" for lack of better word. Confronts the wrongdoings of its recent and distant past. It does not sweep things under the rug. Beautiful area near the river across from Parliament Hill. Short walk to Alexandria Bridge to take pictures. Highly recommend.
My kids loved it! 5&3 some parts were advanced for them. But it was still a great activity to go and get out of the house to do. We spent around 2.5 hours there. Kids loved the dinosaur and bug exhibit.
It was a nice visit we enjoyed a lot!
Great museum! I had to rush through as I went on Thursday after work, since it is free from 5 - 8 pm every Thursday. Even though I had to rush through I got to see most of it and I think it was a very interesting place. I especially enjoyed the "Earth" part of the museum with all the rocks and shiny gemstones and meteorites. So pretty! Currently there is also a huge art piece of a moon, very cool
Excellent place, highly educational, and a nice place to spend the day out
March 1st 2022. I will never step foot in this place knowing that they will continue to ask for vaxpass even after vaxpass mandate has now been dropped entirely by Ontario's prime minister today. I read global news article this morning saying this business will still require the pass. They should be ashamed of themselves for continying this discrimination even after the mandate has legally been dropped. Isn't it illegal to not follow the government rules?
Great exhibition. Kids loved it. Butterfly exhibit was so relaxing and beautiful.
We attended for a private event which allowed us to explore the museum as well. We went to the butterfly area which was smaller than others I'd been to, but absolutely full of different species. Then we wandered through the dinosaur area and really enjoyed it. As far as the private event, the food, space and service was phenomenal. What a cool place to host a social or company event.
Such an interesting experience, great for kids and adults alike. Many different galaries, all well curated and interactive. Dinosaurs, underwater life, birds, bugs, rocks, planetary science. AND the rescue Owls and Eagle. Anticipate spending at least 3 hrs, but you could be there all week if you truly read and experienced everything.
This would be a great museum but for the fact that it's overpriced, it's jammed with patrons all the time, it's near impossible to get into, there's no parking, and the staff range in temperament from begrudging to rude. So, if you can break in and check out the exhibits overnight while the staff are home being diffident to their families instead of the public; or if you can afford to rent out the museum for your private enjoyment; it probably is great. But for us it doesn't work, and we've given up even thinking about going. We want to see nature, we GO OUTSIDE.
Lots of things to see. A combination of nature-history, ecology and heritage education. Affordable for a day trip and lots of things to entertain kids with too. Bring your own food, the cafeteria's overpriced.
Great collection of fossils and other animals. They even have a section with eagles and owls. Be sure to come with extra time. I’d say 3-4h to see everything in details
It is a good museum. Pretty interesting. Only giving it 3 stars because compared to other like science or aviation it kind of feels like it falls short on some of the displays. But overall it is a really nice museum. My kids enjoyed the dinosaurs and birds displays.
Hands down the best museum I’ve been to, this was my first time but certainly won’t be my last. Parking was cheap, we paid extra to see the butterflies as well and that was definitely worth it. The more time you spend the better, I saw people online saying 3 hours was enough. I think we easily could have spent 6 if we wanted to.
Wonderful exhibits, with some interactive opportunities. The live owls and Eagle were a highlight. We appreciate how exhibits are refreshed and updated. The outdoor garden path is beautiful.
The new microbes exhibit is awesome! Lots of interactive stations and big displays that makes you want to learn more about everything there! Great museum for the dinosaur exhibit, great Earth and space one as well that leaves children running from one exhibit to the next. There is parking on site, with wheelchair accessible entrance, and great staff to help and teach! Don't forget the gem that is the butterfly sanctuary that helps you defrost your bones in winter all while being surrounded by beautiful butterflies!
It’s a nice Museum that has a bunch of information of Canada’s nature and environment. Would definitely recommend bringing the family and friends.
Great exhibitions! There's so much to explore, especially for the kids. The staff were incredibly helpful and the layout was easy to follow.
Very professional museum tons of information and things to see. Easy to reach and many paid parkings around. The museum interior deaign is historic and easy to walk around and not feel the crowd. Highly recommended.
Great place for the whole family!
Free on Thursdays 4-7pm! (Except for parking) I went during the owl exhibit and it was really cool!
Kids loved the dinosaurs, but the museum has so much more to offer. Interactive displays, real ice formations inside, and 7 exhibits to explore, plus a few live birds outside. Clear pathways moving through the museum help restrict the number of folks you meet simultaneously. And naturally, their staff is friendly, helpful, and always close by. Great experience!
Fantastic museum. Seems to be many improvements since I last visited 11 years ago. Fun and family friendly. My children enjoyed it and I loved the insect and bird areas! Interesting and important information about how Climate Change is impacting the Arctic.
A great interactive museum, the butterfly exhibit was my favourite!
Always a fun time visiting the dinosaurs and owls and all the other creatures.
Nice day at the Museum with the family!
About 17 dollars for admission for adults. A lot to learn inside - many different exhibitions from water, earth, sea creatures, wildlife and more. The highlight has to be the giant blue whale skeleton. 19 metres. Fun for all ages. Worth at least one visit.
Super cool! Excellent, both for adults and children's. Everything is well handled. The animals are amazing! Must go place.
Very interesting museum. Family friendly and interesting exhibition halls.
One of my favourite spots in Ottawa. Very cool building with amazing displays!
The fossils gallery is especially good. FREE ADMISSION THURSDAYS 5PM TO 8PM. The building itself is also beautiful. Pics speak for themselves. ;D
Attended a Scotch tasting. My parents met at this museum so I always approve of this place!
It is very affordable and it shows a lot about the wildlife. Starting with the dinasours. Even the building itself is impressive.
Best way to find your inner kid. Loved the insects and birds section.
We are members at this museum and my little guy loves going, especially to see the big dinosaurs and play in the boat and the bird hospital!
Disappointed they closed all this time and now they still require QR code when governments are dropping it, such thing is un- canadian.
A not to be missed experience for all ages! Touring the museum easily needs 3 hours if you want to embrace the whole experience and grasp all the information available. So plan your trip and have ample time to enjoy every section of the museum. The Covid measures are set in an excellent way for u to enjoy ur time without having to worry at all. Everything is organized and well set. Although some features are closed due to Covid-19 but they dont affect the whole experience. I highly recommend visiting it. I will be doing so myself more than once ????
One of the best museums I've ever been too. Beautiful building, amazingly detailed exhibits.
I have a yearly pass and I've brought my 5 year old kid 4 times. He loves it every time and always want to go back. The exhibits are interesting to big and small.
This museum was incredible. It was clean, well organized, and had amazing and diverse exhibits. We walked through the entire place and had a great time!
Just made an abrupt stop when I say this view, had a hunch it would look sharp with a black and white photo. After some research, I had no idea about the shear size of the building as well as its contents... I will be back to educate myself on all things nature as well as touring the grounds. Great place for a rookie photographer....

Huge museum, very much stuff to learn and see. Proof of vaccination is required in case you’re wondering. Make sure you have a whole afternoon set aside for it! It’s nice you can take photos.
Museum itself is amazing! The parking, however, is awful! The parking lots were full and since we're from out of town, we had no idea where the nearest parking area would be. We managed to get in to the parking lot after waiting about half an hour.
The museum is fantastic. Visited this museum with my fellows years ago and it was an impressive experience. You can learn a lot of Canadian history there. I am planning to go back to visit it with my kids
Awesome place to spend a great day at.
Beautiful old building, and the exhibits are all really great! Theyve struck an admirable balance between providing activities that both children and adults can gain a bit from. Also, come on. You walk into the room and theres just an enormous whale skeleton! That's awesome!
We stopped by during the "Survival of the Slowest" and Butterfly exhibits. We had two toddlers and a baby with us. We too advantage of being able to bring our own lunch and sit in the cafe area to eat. The museum is very accessible with a stroller, however the elevators are slow. Sometimes we would wait for over 5 mins for an elevator. Not a big deal, but be aware. We've been here a number of times and there's always something new to see. We've also attended a wedding here and it was absolutely lovely!
Fantastic exhibits on the artic, gemstones and birds. Not too crowded on this August Saturday. Easy access from 417 and plenty of parking. My 10 year old loved the many interactive stations.
Very cool museum with lots of things to see and do. Great for a date, friendly outing, field trip, or family outing. Educational, affordable and entertaining place to spend several hours or a whole day.
Great place to visit with friends or the family. Lots of cool displays and things to learn. Social distancing is in effect, but didn't take away from the experience! Pay parking is available and tickets have to be purchased online.
Extremely good! If you want to enjoy it plenty, you should have more than 2 hores!
I think it is 4 floors of incredible exhibits. This and the Art museum are giant. There is plenty to see and do here for everyone. it is actually difficult to see everything in one day. Thursdays during certain hours are free, it gets reeeaaally busy at that time. I would recommend paying during a quieter time to walk around, enjoy the exhibits a bit more and closer.
They have a pretty good set up to lessen exposure to other people. of course this means alot of stuff is closed. even the dinosaurs section alot of it was closed off and I'm not sure why. Still was fun for my young son.
The museum never let's the family down. The kids love coming and interacting with all the displays.
I went last weekend to see the Ice Age exhibition, and wow! I was taken back from not just the exhibition and the other pieces from the museum, but how tremendously kind and sweet the staff and security are. The security never hesitated to direct me to certain places within the museum, as well for the staff of the museum were very informative. Whoever is in charge of the museum knows how to hire good staff! Because of COVID, the museum is well cleaned on a regular basis. I saw a cleaner boy going up and down the halls cleaning all surfaces. When visiting, you are given free touch pens to use when using the museums screens.
As an Ottawa resident for five years, this was surprisingly my first trip to the Museum of Nature. It's a very beautiful museum with well curated exhibits. I didn't get a photo for some reason but the section on animals has an impressively large collection of taxidermy and skeletal animal representations that really give you an idea of what animals, predominantly Canadian breeds, look like up close. The earth and space part was my favourite of course, and it's pleasantly interactive.
Incredible place. Soooo interesting. A must see for everyone regardless of age. The new "Survival of the slowest" exhibition with real alive animals is amazing. We saw a real Sloth, Iguana, snake, tarantula, gecko and many insects. Kids were so excited to explore the specially organized play areas where they learned many facts abouts nature while having fun. Special apprecuation to the security guys were very helpful and while being present were very kind asking kids to refrain from touching some exponats. Overall the museum is very clean, well organized and super interesting. Good accomplishment of the management.
Beautiful museum with a great collection of natural artifacts from all over Canada. Well organized with ideas that make children curious about things around us. The birds of Canada and mineral collection rocks! They probably also have the largest elevator you would ever come across!
A very huge museum, definitely worth checking out. There are 4 floors, so you may need a day to cover everything if you want to read and see it all. You're allowed to take pictures :)
The museum is full of interesting things that is enjoyable for all ages. I’m a lover of the butterflies so I’m very happy I was able to go see them. Gorgeous creatures! Would recommend the museum to anyone
The nature museum was wonderful as always, especially the new Otherworlds exhibit of our solar system. Highly recommended if you like science or exploration of your curiosity!
It's possible to make in 1 or 2 hours that's depends how crowd it's and how interesting is for you. In general I like it!
Great for kids and adults alike. There is so much ancient and present Canadian history and science here. The exhibits are very well maintained and everything is very accessible. Not to mention the building inside and out is beautiful.
The rock section was fantastic! My favourite part of the museum
Went during COVID19 so any interactive exhibit that's usually open had to be closed. It's great for nature/animal lovers. Not as big as many say or maybe a lot of it was closed. For someone who wants to really explore, shouldn't take longer than 4 hours. Otherwise you would be done in 2 hours.
Great place if you're 7
This was one of our first family adventures after recently moving to Ottawa. Our sons are dinosaur fanatics, and this place delivered, bigtime. I was personally blown away by the grand architecture of the building - it's a full sensory experience that has to be experienced first hand. Definitely a must-see for anyone into history.
Even if it says it's book, please check thg e online booking services regularly, I was able to manage to get a ticket at the last minute despite it being booked for the day.
I have always loved this special Museam
Great dinosaur fossil exhibits. Lots of interesting and informative displays and hands on activities for small kids. Need to spend atleast a day to look at the museum in its entirety.
Awsome place
This is such a wonderful museum to visit. Have been a couple of times. Our older children enjoy seeing the exhibits. I recommend the butterfly add on. The girls loved seeing the different species and enjoyed it when the butterfly's would come in close for a visit. Their gemstone displays are fascinating as well. Pack your lunch as they have a nice outdoor picnic area.
They have cool rocks
I was thinking of taking my family here but I will never support a business that supports the vaccine pass even after our government has lifted it. You can give me all your reasons why you need to justify it but you obviously are not in tune with the science. It is the vaccinated that are spreading the viruses and not the unvaccinated according to the CDC and other reliable resources.
Lot of things to explore and know. Absolutely loved it!! Give it a shot and make sure to have enough time on hand to explore.
This place is huge. Very well organized with helpful staff members.
It's a great place for the whole family! Lots of exhibits and lots to do for kids. Loved it!
That's a wonderful place for kids and adults. The museum is doing great with creating all the beautiful expositions, game machines. The way they present facts is very engaging. My daughter loves this place and we are frequent visitors. It's also a fascinating fact that the building was only built a 100 years ago, but looks very historical and authentic.
So disappointed that I can’t take my kids due to forgoing the Covid vaccines for personal reasons! Shameful discrimination based on a vaccine that doesn’t prevent the spread of the virus! Vaccinated people can get and spread Covid just as easily as unvaccinated!
Free on thursdays from 5-8 pm.. great place to take kids.. also great to spend a few hours with friends.. loved the artic section and the dinosaurs
Some exhibits were closed but quite enjoyable.
• This is one of Ottawa's hidden gems! Outside of Alberta, this museum has the best display of dinosaur artifacts I have seen. It it well worth the time and effort to take in. Brings out the 5 year olds in grown men.
A great place for children and adults alike! The museum is HUGE and there is SO much to do and SO much to see! We have a membership and enjoy coming here time after time. There’s definitely something for everyone to see from dinosaurs to insects to birds and so much more. We enjoy looking up to see the moon and earth floating in the atrium. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Parking is easy and on site.
Great museum in the middle of the city. Our children love coming here for the temporary and more permanent exhibits, especially the dinosaurs and whales. They learn and see something new every time. The butterfly exhibit was a lot more interactive than we expected - a relatively small space ensured up-close viewing and contact with the them.
Fascinating displays, beautiful architecture, plenty of subjects to see that provide fun and educational visit for the whole family.
Lots to see. If you go on the free Thursday night, expect to see massive crowds. Exhibits are informative. Many kid friendly, hands on exhibits in the earth area.
The museum is fantastic. Visited this museum with my fellows years ago and it was an impressive experience. You can learn a lot of Canadian history there. I am planning to go back to visit it with my kids
Good balance of space and time for the advance booking needed during COVID restrictions. Having the flow in one direction allows you to visit everything and not miss sections as you may if it was normal wandering about! The dinosaurs are always a humbling highlight of our past and the Arctic exhibit reminds me of what I saw while I was in NWT. Minimum 2-3hrs needed but could spend days if you are reading each exhibit and taking it all in slowly.
A lot of fun! Spent a few hours sight seeing, laughing, and learning. Kid and adult friendly.
Two seniors walked for about 5 hours (took time at the excellent cafeteria; great food, quick service, and fair prices) to see every exhibit available during our visit. Extremely well displayed with great displays. Lots of hands on activities. Started on the fourth floor and worked our way down. Loved all of the exhibits.
Amazing place for kids
A great museum with lots to see. Would definitely recommend spending the extra money to do the butterfly exhibit
Nice museum. Table about 2 hours to see it.
Always a fun and interacrive place my kids love to go since the age of 2. It's a lovely museum and definitely our favourite!
Amazing experience. My family really did enjoy the rich history of nature.
Had a blast, we traveled down from North Bay but sadly we did not get into the butterfly part but it was totally worth the money and it was really cheap and very educational, wish we had more time though!
Great for adults and children. Lots to explore with many interactive areas. Very informative. There is also a gift shop and place to eat. We were lucky to be there for a free jazz concert. May be available for some events but unsure.
just came back from the museum. really fun and nice although some things were closed due to covid it still was really fun and informative especially for kids
Fabulous place for kids and adults! We arrived at 9am and left at 3, and we still didn't get to everything! Cafe is also great for kids and adults. *See my pics for more info on food choices (and prices). There were some excellent parts of the museum for kids! *See my pics for the most popular ones for kids. Gorgeous building too architecturally! Must see place! Washrooms on every level of the museum. Parking lot at the museum that you have to pay for or 2 hour street parking. We arrived at 9:03 and there were a number of spots still available, but there were quite a few spots already taken. Arrive before nine to guarantee parking. Had a gift shop with stuffies, trinkets, mugs, etc.
The place is really good. If you are planning on visiting it do make sure, if you have a time slot then to not spend much time drooling over so many historical artifacts like I did as this place has 6 different sections which would take a lot of time for an enthusiast to explore. Overall its a really amazing day out.
We had such an amazing time here. There is so many incredible things to see, learn and discover. We didn't get to see the 3rd and 4th floors however because we didn't expect it to be so full of amazing things???????? and we ran out of gusto!???? We are making a second trip to enjoy the rest of what we haven't seen very soon! They have so many interactive displays and their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and courteous. They have fascinating events and even overnight adventures! Out of all of the museum's I've seen so far this is by far my favorite ❤️
Had a great time in here! Very educational for kids and adults alike. Excellent animal displays, they almost look alive! Highly recommended when visiting Ottawa ????
must see. insects were the best
It is a good place to spend the day with the kids. It always has special exhibits and a lot of interactive tools for the kids. Highly recommend this.
Very interesting exhibits. Great for kids.
Loved it. It is a great and beautifully designed museum. With lots to see, play and interact with for kids. Membership is worthwhile if you live in the Ottawa area.
This place was amazing!! All their exhibits are beautiful, there’s a lot of thought put into them. I felt like a kid again, and I felt inspired to keep learning about the history of our planet. Loved it!
Kids will love this place. Recommend spend 3hrs here
Very nice museum, didn't get the chance to get through it all due to time restraint but exhibits were beautiful, especially the mineral and rocks!
A beautiful museum and a must for families in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
My Kids love it. Customer Service is great
Deffinetly a family MUST. Explore and learn about the current and history or nature. P.s the building itself is beautiful.
It is a very good place for children.
Great spot. Can spends and hour to three hours depending on how “in depth” you want to get into the exhibits. Thursday after 6pm is free till 9pm. Earth Sciences were surprisingly visual and interactive. Oceans was great. Some of these exhibits are unbelievable. Must see.
Fun for all ages and very intereactive.
Very accommodating for people in wheelchairs and with mobility issues. Getting free tickets to explore the museum on a Thursday was really nice and could be a great family outing!!!!
Wonderful for families, brought my toddler and she loved it!
I hadn't been here in many years. We enjoyed the museum; we will have to return to finish the experience. There's so much to see. We really enjoyed watching the owls. Beautiful building.
Very nice museum, lots of cool things for every age.
Really enjoyed it, looking forward to going back when all the interactive parts are reopened. (Closed because of COVID)
Amazing museum, educational and fun. Amazing staff
Had a great time here, lots to see. Not set up in the best way, in my opinion. The exhibits don't flow into one another very smoothly as it does in other museums.
There's lots to see at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Bring the kids they will love it. It's a great place to see things close up. Somethings they might even be learning at school... . I've been hear on many occasions. It's really a lot of fun. If you're children have a field trip at school to the Canadian Museum of Nature, encourage them to go. Sometimes the kids might be asked to bring their lunch. It's a wonderful experience. God Bless you all, Cheers. ????????????????❤????????
Loved the new owl exhibit! Always learn something new everytime I go. Getting an elevator is a bit slow though as they have one elevator going up and one separate elevator going down. We were on a schedule and weren't able to see some exhibits because we had to wait 10 min to get in an elevator. This was a little disappointing.
Always enjoy it when we have a chance to visit.
Lots of cool things to see
My first visit had one conclusion: WOW! This museum definitely blow out my mind and I’ve been browsing more than millions pieces living or used to living on the earth. Dinosaurs, insects, birds, mammals, water and ocean, earth and solar system, arctic environment. Fantastic place for both kids and adults. It’s informative and educational. I wish I could live in the neighbourhood and being a member to visit here every week.
Its so amazing place
This museum is a hidden gem. There is so much to see that a day is not enough if you start reading all the explanation. The blue whale skeleton is quite impressive and the dinosaur section was my kids favorite.
free every Thursday evening very educational hands on for kids live butterfly exhibit can see butterflies merging from caccoons
An amazing place, the building itself is a wonder to be in, let alone the exhibits. A fantastic place to go with family, in your own, or on a date.
Visit to see the Planet Ice exhibition. Excellent and well worth the visit. Ticketed entry 15 minutes apart but surprised no policing of people while touring the museum. Found ourselves too close to many families.
Lovely day at the Museum of Nature today. I was so impressed by their Covid-19 protocols in place. I felt very safe. The staff was also so helpful, nice and very friendly.
Amazing place. Didn't know they had that many archeological dinos. Loved the earth section of the museum. All in all a great experience.
It was awesome!! Staff was very friendly!! The exhibits are great!! Reptile exhibit just started it's amazing lots of reptiles to check out!! Cafe closes at 4pm though so get your drinks before then
A great place to visit anytime ure in Ottawa
Beautiful museum with accommodating staff! I would highly recommend visiting this place if you are in Ottawa!
Parked across the street for free on a Sunday. Good price for size of museum. Spent around 3 hours there and could’ve spent longer. Loved the Survival of the Slowest exhibit. Extra $6 but worth it. Was not too busy.
The whole family loves this place! The dinosaur fossils are awesome. The kids love the minerals section. A great place to go with lots to see.
Great museum! A must to see if you are on Ottawa with or without kids!
Nice exhibits! Great for kids
A musem we liked alot. Will go again
We used to love going to the museum, but ever since they start segregation we decided that we will not contribute to this place any more. Sad to see how this is still going on after it was proven that the QR codes did not work. But yet you still think that this is ok.
Amazing, beautifull museum. Based inside a beautifull historic building. The museum it self is quite diverse and offers some great exhibitions. Also fun for kids as they offer a lot of interaction in the form of games and / or videos. And a beautifull, fun butterfly garden.
Captivating place with interesting exhibits.
From my 8 year old: "All the floors were super cool. We had a blast. I really liked the ice at the very top." We had a fantastic experience here. Lot's to learn for kids and adults in a fun way. We highly recommend.
Beautiful museum with awesome things for all ages. Kids and adults we all enjoyed our visit. A must go in Ottawa
One of the great museums we’re fortunate to have in Ottawa. Growing up, Nature was always my favourite and that still rings true today. The exhibits are fun and have interactivity for kids. My personal favourite part is the butterfly room which is a must if you’re going to the museum. My only criticism is I wish the butterfly room was bigger and had more butterflies; it could honestly be its own separate attraction and I would pay to go
Our girls really enjoyed the butterfly exhibit and the two upper floors.
Wonderful museum, great interactive centres for children which adults enjoy too! Staff were all helpful.
Always a great place to go with kids
Lots of fun for all ages! Unfortunately many hands on activities are not available and demonstrations as well, due to the current circumstances. But still full of so much knowledge and great pictures to aid understanding. Great organization of exhibits.
Beautiful building. Over the years they have had some pretty great extra exhibits.
Very nice place to visit. Large collection and nicely organized. Unhappy with the lack of parking space and attendant. A bit expensive entrance fee. I read that entrance is free after 5 pm on Thursdays.
Covid edit: easy purchase of tickets online; upon check-in you are given a disposable stylus to use with touch screens; paths clearly marked. As for visitors, I’d say about 85% were respectful, kept their distance and didn’t let their children run rampant (I am immune compromised and have just as much right to safely visit as anyone else). For the other 15% - if your child gets sick, well maybe you shouldn’t have let them put their entire face on the plexiglass (as I saw one family of kids doing). This is my favourite museum in Ottawa. It has an excellent permanent collection including fossils, rocks and minerals, animals, insects and dinosaurs, birds, and water and coral life.
Highly recommend - wonderful museum with amazing exhibits and installations
amazing exhibits , great place for kids , lots of hands on stuff
It’s a paradise for the whole family as it’s so fun and with great knowledge from the big bang to our current life. The museum is huge. We spent the whole afternoon there but couldn’t check with everything we are interested. Like the real-like specimens and the rocks exhibition. They are so beautiful that I can literally look at them for whole day.
Amazing place for kids and adults! We walked from Lord Elgin Hotel and it was about a 20 min walk. Parking gets full fast. Definitely bring a lunch if you have kids, this place is huge. It was nice we were able to hang our jackets. There is also real Owls outside, pretty cool! I definitely recommend and will visit again!
Beautiful building. Great exhibits. I passed on the live moth and butterflies room.
Pretty good introduction to some very fun topics. Really amazing large scale bone collections to highlight the scale of some of these animals.
Amazing ????
A great experience for a family adventure. Organized departments, pretty clean, easy navigation and a full collection of what that absorb attention from kids to seniors.
Amazing!!! From dinosaurs, 3D movie about sea monsters real ice exhibit and so on, just amazing!!!
One of the greatest museum!
Great place! Lots of please touch for the little ones. Kept there attention the whole time. Lots of learning games/ interactive quizzes. Good for multigenerational families. Adequate seating. Bathrooms on all levels. Affordable admission.
I loved it here so much, If you do plan on going, make sure you have a decent amount of time to go and see all the exhibits. If you’re terrified of butterflies like me... maybe don’t go see the butterfly exhibit. But they are absolutely beautiful, go see all the exhibits!! you won’t regret spending a little extra $, great experience
This is the best museum I have ever been in. I spent 4 hours in there and all very interesting. So much to learn . The displays are well organized and very informative. Also a lot of interaction. I will go back there as I could spend a couple more days just seeing the things I missed.
Owl watching was very interesting and the kids loved it. The indoor dinosaurs gallery was the most our kids loved
We went during the free hours from 5-8pm on a Thursday and could've likely used 1 hour more as there were just so many interesting and interactive exhibits. The prehistoric animals on the first floor were really fascinating as well as the insect exhibit. You can get parking for $3 (anytime from 4pm to midnight) just a few minutes away at the lot at the corner of O'Connor and Catherine.
It’s amazing ????
Loved visiting a couple years back but covid has this placed all closed up! Hopefully it’ll reopen soon!
Great place to take your family
Brought my kids to see the owls. It was a hoot!
Such a neat place to learn! We went right at opening and started at the top of the museum at the featured exhibit: microbes (which is AMAZING), and worked our way down. My only wish is that they had a bigger insects section! Overall a great learning experience and a fun place to explore.
Great place ... great exhibition about microbes and 3d movie about volcano
Along with the Science and Technology Museum, this is my 3 year old son's favorite museum. It has a section on dinosaurs, animals, water animals and creatures, first nations, insects, the formation of the Earth and volcanos and rocks, and right now, some live owls outdoors.
Great museum! Very cool exhibits and overall awesome experience
Great museum for the whole family. Brought my 4 and 8 year old and we had lots of fun. Well done on the details of each exhibit. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is for the coffee shop on the first floor. Worst service ever. Waited 30 minutes to get 2 simple lattes and this is 30 minutes after ordering them and paying...ended up throwing away the lattes (which were not prepared correctly, even after the long wait). Employees lack training and were short staffed. Not impressed and would not recommend. Bring your own lunch and use the nice cafeteria space they have.
It's so beautiful and full of amazing displays and information. Could spend all day there.
Excellent museum for kids - fun and learning.
The butterfly exhibit is a must see! Overall the museum of Nature is awesome too!
Still almost just as amazing as it was when I was a kid! Please visit!
We enjoyed the Dinosaur exhibit a lot!
Very very cool. The butterfly exhibit is really amazing.
My family and I loved going to the Nature museum. It was a great experience. The kids loved seeing the different exhibits..especially the dinosaur section. My son is obsessed with dinosaurs so seeing them was exciting for him. I recommend checking it out with your family as an activity!
Awesome place to visit, very cool.
Will continue to support discrimination… just watch a documentary and save your hard earned money.
