We learned a lot of things and it was discussed later, thank you for this learning and for allowing us to learn about the Mi'gmaq culture :) Wela'lin (Original) Wow! Quelle visite! (Translated) With my girlfriend we were able to take a guided tour, it was really perfect! The explanations are clear and give an idea of what life was like before the arrival of Europeans! We had Christmas as our guide, he wanted to share the knowledge with his people and made us live their traditions in the most realistic way possible ????! A big thank you Christmas for all your explanations!

(Translated) Unfortunately we were unable to visit. We must plan our place because of sanitary measures. But I discovered a beautiful store!

(Translated) The guide was very interesting despite the presentation a bit disjointed at times. Not a problem at all however for the explanations and small demonstrations during the visit. Much of the material was handcrafted by the people on site. The small exhibition inside may seem short, but the bulk of the visit is outside. Very nice activity for a rainy day in Gaspé!

(Translated) Nice, relatively small site. The experience depends on the guide I imagine; ours talked a lot about him and the objects, but little about the history of the Mic-Macs and their way of life. In fact, he told a lot of things but had difficulty answering the questions (disjointed), which made it seem like he had no control over the subject. And after checking, some shared info was just wrong. Our visit lasted 2 hours, which is a bit long. In comparison, the traditional Huron-Wendat site in Windsor is richer in information and we learn a lot more. (Original) Beau site relativement petit.

Fantastic guided tour! Just remember to use bug repellant before.. Excellent and authentic place to visit to learn about the Micmac people.

(Translated) Me and my girlfriend did the activity of making our own dream catcher. We had a great pleasure especially with the lady who gave us the little lesson (Sorry I do not remember your name). Really very kind and patient with us. A real pleasure.

(Translated) We really liked our guided tour, it's crazy all the knowledge hiding in the brain of the host. Very interesting and dynamic. Very pleasant to listen to talk ... and sing! We have learned a lot of things. I strongly advise it. Thank you so much! Right to dogs outside :) (Original) On a vraiment aimé notre tour guidé, c’est fou toutes les connaissances qui se cache dans le cerveau de l’animateur. Très intéressant et dynamique. Très agréable à écouter parler… et chanter! Nous avons appris beaucoup de choses. Je le conseille fortement. Merci beaucoup! Droit aux chiens à l’extérieur :)

(Translated) The person who guides us through the site knew so well how to keep all the wisdom and love for nature, and respect for the living. I came out all reassured, and filled with emotion, I feel so close to this way of being. Thank you for this reminder of respect. In the shop, beautiful things to sell, at all prices, the only regret, and of size, is that too many items are made in China: big disappointment!

(Translated) Very interesting, well animated, thought to go there when the weather is nice because the visit is entirely outside. A beautiful introduction to the life of the Micmac community in 1675. The welcome is friendly and the animation really very interesting and dynamic.

(Translated) Superb experience! Tim was a perfect spokesperson, in addition to having Mi'kmaq origins. More than complete information on all aspects of Mi'kmaq life before and after the arrival of the settlers, whether concerning the way of life, social organization, cooking methods, etc. It is especially good to hear the version of the natives instead of that of the Europeans, who distort the facts and advance in history. The visit is very interactive too! To do again!

Marc Gautreau

Very disappointed. We stopped in for a visit and some kids activities (dream catchers and bracelets) but when we arrived, they told us that we had to reserve 48 hrs in advanced. I explained to them that their website stated that reservations only needed to be done when its a group of 6 of more. They didnt seem to care...????. We still decided to do the tour. We did an English guided tour (because that was the next tour available). The guide was friendly but didn't animate like the French guides did in their tours... Overall experience was ok.

(Translated) Quite beautiful, there are beautiful objects, very detailed explanations in the museum. A guided tour is offered in French and English, a young Miq'mac accompanied us on the site outdoors and passionately detailed their life before the arrival of the French then after. This site deserves to stop at least 2 hours. A small tasting of a traditional piece of bread made of wheat flour and corn steeped in maple syrup is offered. Do not miss the shop either, everyone will find the object that suits him. FYI Miq'macs today enjoy some benefits such as free salmon fishing pits, right to 7 salmon per person instead of 1 for non-aboriginal, free hunting license and longer hunting period too. Good after what the Europeans have taken here are some meager compensation!

(Translated) It was really interesting and the site is really good to move in to put us in the mood of these First Nations. We had a very good young guide, but who, I believe, lacked a little experience like for example if I can make a constructive comment: it would be good to explain the objects while the group is going on instead of wait for the object to return. It creates discomfort if no one has questions. But otherwise it was very good, we learned a lot and it seemed that she had her subject and her origins at heart!

I love to learn different cultures and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The people were very friendly. One suggestion, please confirm your visit time prior to arrival. We arrived there at 1 and it was booked for French tour.

(Translated) I loved this place and what about the teacher Mic Mac. Place to visit to understand their stories. I bought souvenirs at their shop and the bread which is excellent.

The site is composed of an indoor and an outdoor museums. They offer guided tours in both English and French. A reservation was required and it was not so easy to find a spot in July, so it's important to plan ahead. It was really worth to visit and my group learned a lot about Micmac culture.

Wayne MacDonald

I was very impressed with the Micmac story and artifacts in the musiun. The story of this semi nomadic people was told well by the guide. There is a steep climb to the outdoor exhibit which I could not do with a wheelchair.

Sylvie B. (Floraly)

(Translated) Very interesting place. The guided tour allows you to learn many things with the manipulation of stones to learn to make a fire, as well as other objects. Count + 2h for the visit. Be careful though mosquitoes, we must protect ourselves.

(Translated) Special thanks to Tim who was able to share with us the ancestral history of the natives.

Tim was an excellent tour guide, such a wealth of information to share, thank you!!

The website says closed at 5, but the last four is at 3 and you have no other options,so basically it is CLOSED AT 3.

Erin P

Fascinating opportunity to learn about Mi'gmaq traditions and ways of living at the time of European contact. Normally 2 sessions per day lasting about 1.5 hrs, available in English or French. There is a mini museum and display area in addition to the significant outdoor sites showing traditional tools, hunting methods, shelter, and household tools. The guides are knowledgeable and multi-lingual. The cost ($15 per adult) is far too low for an experience like this!

Vlad-Andrei Lazar

Nice place to learn about Gaspeg.

Michael Segales

(Translated) To do absolutely with the guide! (Original) À faire absolument avec le guide !

John Parker

Great experience. Tour is very much recommended.

Jane Litchfield

We almost didn't go because it didn't look like much driving by. So glad we stopped. We thought we had to make a reservation because of COVID, but it was actually for the guided tour. Our guide, a young woman named Taylor, was so knowledgable and packed in so much information. The animal traps are fascinating. The English writeups on the indoor exhibits don't add much and may not even be accurate in some cases, so make sure you get a tour.

Wayne Patterson

I highly recommend this tour. Very informative about the MicMac culture.

Richard Larocque

(Translated) It was a very enriching and constructive day. Well done to the guide who is very friendly and interesting, we never tire of it!

(Translated) Very nice installation, the shop is worth the detour. We chose to do the tour by ourselves since the guided tour was too long for our taste (1h30).

Very well description of everything from the tour guide. Lots to learn for all ages. Well worth visiting as well as the bread they bake on site.

I enjoyed my visit. I took the English tour and Bianca was very informative. Everyone working there was so friendly. The Bannock bread was delicious. I would recommend this to anyone that likes cultural or historical tours.

(Translated) Enjoyed this tour with a guide who told us the story of his ancestors.

Tristan Jones

Outstanding guided tour. I've been lucky to have visited a variety of indigenous communities and establishments and this one was one of the best! Not only with it's material re-creations but our guide was the best we've ever had. Got all of our family really excited about the culture!

Renee Filbey

An amazing tour, thank you Tim! Incredibly informative and moving. The staff at this centre are doing great things!

Sandhya Papineau

This was a highlight of my vacation that I will not soon forget. There is a small, very well-done museum (not very strong AC, if any) and gift shop inside and a number of structures outside that our tour guide, Melanie, took us through with great knowledge. She did a great job and contributed greatly to our experience. I highly recommend doing the tour as it will add a lot to your visit. Two different kinds of bannock were available for sampling although based on others at the site, I really urge you to use the tongs and not just pick things up with your fingers. Parking appears to be limited. The visit was just under 2 hours to really experience everything so we were lucky that we there at 3PM because they closed at 5PM on the day we visited. Be mindful of operating hours!
