Really enjoyed this museum! Three levels of displays, artifacts and information plus gift shop is a description that does not give this location enough credit. Prepare to spend at least an hour or two exploring thousand islands history & people - and set aside some time to pick out a souvenir or gift on the way out! This is a donation run museum and sometimes visitors aren't sure what to donate so I'd recommend $5-10 per person and at least $20 for a family because it's really worth it.

Great museum! Free, donations appreciated. Depicts history and geography of the 1000 Islands region. Second floor is quite extensive and has a great 30 minute movie on Boldt Castle. The only drawback is that the exhibits seemed to have no order. I read about the war of 1812 then turned the corner and read about life in the 1930's. I couldn't find any chronological pattern to it. All in all, a good little museum.

I took 3 overly ambitious grandchildren, and they loved it, plus the views of the river and surrounding islands were great

What a warm and friendly welcome from the staff! It’s a small area but covers a lot of ground. The museum has no entrance fee but relies on donations from its patrons. There’s a gift shop as well that features a lot of locally-made items. The model ships are extraordinary! A lot of history to take in all at once; it’s nice to feel a part of something “big”.
