This Museum is classified in the category of Local history museum.
It's pretty cool here. They have live horses and bulls and I think I saw sheep. People are dressed in era costume and you can walk through the houses too.
Wonderful. Better than Williamsburg, better than Sturbridge Village. This living history museum is amazing. There are knowledgeable interpreters at each of the historic homes and businesses. They want to chat and share their “daily lives” with you as you walk about this 1800’s village. Maybe the coolest thing they do is their children’s program of Visiting Cousins and Visiting Kin. Our children went there for four summers and were very sad when they got too old for the program. Children get to live as 1800’s kids during the day (going to school, doing chores, making food, using a spinning wheel, etc.) and they stay overnight on site in more modern accommodations. I can’t recommend Kings Landing enough!
The staff make this place feel fun and full if life. If you want education or a good time in a chill environment it is a great day out
Wonderful way to spend an afternoon
Its a veryeey nice spot to escape from the city, nice staff, very knowledgeable for kids.
Loved it.
Nice place to visit in the summer time. A great overall experience, it is cool that there are actor's in the houses and they offer explanations about the settlement
Must try to make it back again the summer
Living museum - staff stay in character providing a wonderful experience for guests.
Located in a serene set up, Kings landing is a must visit. Displaying the ways of the days gone, these actors immerse you in a unique experience. The set up offers an amazing escape from our busy lives! Do try their restaurant out, the food is delicious and service is super friendly. Something as simple as their NB Brown bread is amazing! We went back just to buy a few packets of it.
Good old days:)
Great way to spend the day as a family. The people here are in character which makes it that much better. It rained the day we were there but it was still really fun.
Went to find Starks and Lannisters, found none.
Loved everything about this place. Great food, great staff and such amazing buildings ????
Great to visit wherever the season . Lovely and knowledgeable staff and great place to learn about our heritage.
Great spot for family. Lovely and knowledgeable staff.
Very well defined rich history. Will visit again!
This place is amazing! It's like stepping back in time! A great way of learning about living in 19th century New Brunswick. A must visit when in Atlantic Canada!
Fun with the kids and a beautiful place
Very well run place to visit and step back in time.
The King’s Landing tour is an interesting glimpse of life in early pre-Canada. I came here with a tour group and so we were able to eat their group dinner option. I have to say that the food was excellent. It might be basic by most people’s standard but the quality was amazing. The bread and butter are made by hand with ingredients from the location and it’s truly rare to eat fresh and local. The vegetable tomato based soup also was fantastic. You can taste the freshness of the produce. There’s nothing fancy but it tastes like pure freshness. Our main entree was a chicken pot pie with mashed potatoes and peas. The chicken was a little dense, but tasted super fresh. The crust on the pies were the best part. PS. If you like beer, try out the local Simeon Jones River Valley Amber Ale.
Great place to visit and learn some history
Fabulous place, if anyone has the opportunity to go please do
My daughter loved her week there as a visiting cousin
A wonderful opportunity to be taken back several centuries and experience what life in this part of Canada was like at that time.
A step back in time with period costumed actors, horse drawn carriage rides, apples, vegitable gardens, burning wood hearths, blacksmith, carpenter, mill, general store, churches, schoolhouse and much more. Many of the homes are set up as museum like presentations of how things used to be.
It's pretty cool here. They have live horses and bulls and I think I saw sheep. People are dressed in era costume and you can walk through the houses too.
So beautiful and atmosphere place ????Definitely recommend
What a fantastic place to learn and enjoy some beautiful scenery. It was so cool to see so many of the staff/actors genuinely making things and doing the work of the period; they were all friendly and knowledgeable from the women spinning flax thread to the genuine blacksmith. Riding in the horse drawn wagon was definitely a highlight for the young kids.
The most beautiful place in New Brunswick. Period.
A day well spent walking in the past. Fabulous Scenery. Love Kings Landing.
A lot of the history is still maintained. The residents share their experiences very well
Really cool window into the 1800's. So many interesting old technologies to see, including the impressive functioning sawmill. All the people there are keen on telling the story behind the buildings, explaining how things worked, and answering any questions.
Outstanding historical detail / artefacts in a beautiful country setting. Unfortunately, intent on the sawmill, we walked straight down the road rather than to the right, so we missed all mention of the Mi'kmaw people! Left me scratching my head until I checked the map just now.
Amazing Experience.. highly recommended. I love that they allow you to go through the old houses and see how people really lived back then. You can see the old school houses, print shops and black Smith in action if you show up on the right day. The furniture blows my mind, everything you see was built by hand, but the quality and craftsmanship will beet anything you can purchase today.
King's Landing has changed since the government has taken over. There used to be folks dressed in costume walking around the grounds and within the buildings and homes you could smell fresh cooking and baked goods. Now you mainly see 21st century park ranger looking uniforms in a drab brown. A lot of the buildings and homes have being blocked off with rooms off limits and roped off areas. The Watermill is no longer running along with most everything else. It's more like a ghost town rather then an experience that used to take you back in time. It is rather disappointing and unfortunately I will not be going back.
Nice place showing history and lifestyle. Unique thing is every house or farm has staff pretending to belong to the era of mid 1800s. Given so much staff, the $22 entry fee looks justified. Attraction: The water wheel propelled saw mill is awesome, showing the complexity of technology of the times. The food is also good at kings inn restaurant. However there may be a wait list, so get yourself on the list asap and then roam around.
A must see! Check back soon for a more complete review.
The characters add a lot to the experience.
Wow Very Good Day
Excellent! Amazing experience! Will be back !
Going to Kings Landing is an annual adventure with our family and we absolutely love it. Of course, we expect it to stay pretty much the same - check out the agricultural building, stop into the print shop, visit with the numerous animals at the barn and then cross the stream at the mill (with working waterwheel) to visit the village, stopping for lunch. Even with 2 young children (1.5 and 5 months) who have almost no interest in being inside a house, the walk alone is worth the 20$ adult admission. Situated along the river, it's got a nice breeze and always some shade available to make a wonderful walk. During the weekends, there are additional events in the town - from log pulling, log tosses, learning how wood was sawed using a horse, sything, and even a sing along at the church. The actors are positively jovial and so pleasant. Our oldest son interacted with two lovely women playing a game involving round cuts of wood...he loved bringing the wooden circles back to them and they were so sweet with him. Ending the day with a wagon ride back to the beginning is possibly the most anticipated part of the visit back in time. The only problem we had while visiting Kings Landing was the restaurant which was rather disappointing - the lemonaid and bread are always awesome (I remember it from 20+ years ago when I went for the first time) but the service was incredibly slow (only 2 waitresses on a busy weekend from what we could tell) and things like ketchup, pickles from my meal, my son's drink, etc were forgotten until later. We were also not offered a high chair and ended up finding one ourselves. If you have small children, it almost might be worth packing a small lunch or having dinner before you go. The wait was almost an hour and it really did seem just understaffed that day. The gift shop is okay, it's generic crafts with 'kings landing' put on it or a few handmade crafts which are extremely expensive but a fun memento. The best souvenir is always the print shop bookmarks - and they're free. Finally, this year we either came at the right time or there is a new element to K.L. There are special 2hr- classes for 30$ on different weekends. My husband is now signed up for the Blacksmith class and will be learning to make a nail and a hook while learning a bit more about something he's interested in. It's an absolutely fantastic idea and for someone who has a specific interest in historical jobs/hobbies, this is perfect! As always, we'll be back next year (and for many years to come). It's the perfect family location, doesn't allow smoking apart from a few very secluded smoking spots far away from the crowd, and is a great day.
It was fun. Very interesting. These people had a hard life compared to us. One thing that did disappoint me was their ice cream shop was not homemade ice cream. Gift shops usually gouge you but their prices were very fair. They have tourism brochures for places all over New Brunswick.
Very interesting and beautiful village, fun for kids. Will definitely come back!
Very interesting and beautiful village, fun for kids. Will definitely come back!
Love this place. We've been several times and have enjoyed it immensely every time!
Loved everything about this place! Everyone dressed in the character of the era, and they never spoke in modern day. This place has a working farm, ranch, everything. And we were served the vegetables from the gardens at lunch at the Kings Head Inn!
Since its earliest beginnings I and my family have looked on King's Landing as a living example of our family's history. Several of the buildings, the saw mill and the Donaldson house have direct family connections. To see the tasteless cut-outs and poster displays of our heritage farm animals was a great disappointment.
Loved it! Definatley is a trip to the past. Went on Canada Day, an event that hasn't happened in this place yet. ????
ALL of the staff were excellent and informative. The gentleman in the saw mill was very knowledgeable, friendly and personable (and funny).
Always enjoy. Tour we took was disappointing and later in day no time to wander after tour complete. Tour was advertised as adults only. Kids were present. Maybe if no kids could be more descriptive on details.
Best place to feel and experience the past. Super friendly people, great attire, artifacts... Don't miss the Horse wagon ride..
Fun!
A wonderful hands on learning place. I had visited the site as a reenactor back in 1985 and brought my wife and children to see. They enjoyed learning about how people lived in the 1860s and how they could make clothes from flax and sheep wool. Most of the staff were very friendly and even my son found it interesting that they used to grind up charcoal to help with upset stomachs! The Kings Head Inn had delicious food which was worth the price, with ingredients grown from their own gardens and fields.
Fabulous place to spend a warm breezy day, soaking up a slice of time. Amazing staff and equally awesome place.
My family and I used to visit Kings Landing regularly when I was a kid, and I always enjoyed it; loving in particular the living museum and opportunity to interact with characters and animals! Now, I revisit Kings Landing regularly with my husband and we still love it! Enjoying special occasions like the harvest feast, and always making sure to enjoy a meal and some brown bread! We’ve loved every visit, no matter the weather!
Great history lesson of the local area. Had a wonderful lunch that would have been period correct. All of the staff working in the recreation park were very nice and knowledgeable.
Well informative & entertaining! Wonder why it's not in recommendation! We were on the eastern coast road trip and were lucky to found this spot by luck on our way to St Andrews Worth a visit
Great experience! Can't wait to go back throughout the summer!!!!
I adore this place just as much now as when I was a kid! The reinactors treat you as if you're part of the village yourself, come by for a visit. It feels like you've traveled back in time, yet you feel right at home. There is so much to see and discover, it truly is a magical place! I also appreciated that they acknowledge their presence on the traditional territory of the Wolastokey and respectfully have their artifacts on display in the visitor center.
Looked really neat from the outside, unfortunately it closed very early. Perhaps Covid?
This place is incredible. The people that work there stay in character and are all bilingual. The exhibits are all beautiful and well kept up. They have everything very explained and a lot of events on site. The staff are friendly and helpful and the welcome centre is new, modern looking with all the conveniences. Ample parking and signage to make sure you can actually get there.
The Sugar Bush at Kings Landing was a great time! Fun music and good drinks at the Kings Head Inn!
Stayed there for a whole afternoon and had a wonderful experience!! Learned a lot about how people used to live, work and have fun. Quite interesting.
Lovely place. The staff are friendly and the place is beautiful. Mary's brown bread is delicious. A must have. Check out the little bar in the restaurant in the village. It's a wonderful room. The hard cider was a treat.
I Love this place the views, the village, the people was very kind.
The attractions were excellent as well as all the actors/workers, but the pub/food service was terrible waited for over 25 mins after being sat at a table and never had anyone take our order. We even asked several times to have a waitress come over and no one ever did, so we stood up and walked out.
Every time i've been here the actors have been great! A nice little place to learn some history.
Great way to spend an afternoon learning history
One of the highlights of our summer trip..so many great things to see and learn..you wont be dissapointed
An historical village in an idyllic setting. We have been here more than once and we can never see all we want in a day. There are different activities scheduled and the villagers are always glad to talk and explain what they're doing. Some will even let you try your hand at carding wool or give you a taste of homemade clover honey, etc. Well worth the money if you go for a day. There are picnic pavilions on the grounds and a restaurant in the village.
Absolutely amazing. I've been here once a year for the last 5 years, and never had the same experience twice. Excellent time.
It was awesome to walk through the houses and listen to the history of where they came from and what they did to stay alive
We always love returning here & our girls love the addition of the horseback & pony rides! Also the education corner was loved by our girls (ages 2& 5) & our 12 year old niece loved learning how to embroider.
It was like stepping back in time.
Loved this experience. Kids didn't want to do the full park but it was great and the hosts were knowledgeable and fun to speak with. The baker let my daughter feed the pigs which both thrilled and freaked her out. It was awesome.
This is an amazing place to go if you are a tourist. It shows you all the interesting history of new Brunswick and Canada. Also knowing that this is a bilingual province we help people that do not understand English.
Very enjoyable. Love to old dress and ways of the early 1800's
Loved the experience. You can easily spend a whole day there and still not with it ????. It amazes you to know. about the history and how they managed daily lives.
Attended the Christmas at Kings Head meal. Just a great time. 5 course meal by candlelight with live entertainment. Our server Melanie was extraordinary, couldn't do enough for us!! Highly recommend!!!
I had gone here when I was a kid, and didn't care for it. As an Adult it is a ton of fun. Staff are great and educational. My kids had a blast as well.
Awesome historical family outing in NB. Spent a half a day wandering through some amazing 'story houses' where people actually live out what it was like back then. Been here several times and we enjoy it every time. Was later in the season and with 2 young boys we did not cover 100% of the area. Great spot for a day trip (bring a picnic!) any time of the open season. Definitely be visiting again!
Great place to spend the day ????
It's a way to peek back into history and how wonderful and quiet life was before electronics.
Nice place for a walk, best time is in fall !
Beat historic village I have been to, with the clothed village population, going around doing daily tasks like ploughing the field and cooking food.
Give yourself enough time to take in all King's Landing has to offer. Plan for 4 hours.
Nice visit great cast members very knowledgeable
Great place, lots to see and learn about our local history. The people are so freindly and very knowledgeable about the old times. Everyone should visit this place!
Amazing place!! Great for kids!! The sawmill is awesome!! Arrive early because there is a lot to do! Don't forget to get a map at the entrance!
We went there for the Search and Rescue Breakfast in the spring. This was followed by a morning spent exploring the grounds including a horse drawn sled and carriage an dof course sampling the maple syrup.
What an amazing place and experience. It really feels like stepping back in time. The actors are all super friendly and excited to tell you about how settlers lived in the 19th century. I highly recommend a visit especially if you like history or with kids!
Historical spot, very nice
Just a wholesome good time .
Somewhat interesting spot. We were just passing through on the TransCanada and needed a place to stop for a picnic. They have covered picnic tables- good in case of rain. Visited the gift shop and the museum. Lots of touristy stuff in the shop - the most interesting thing was these rather substantial loaves of fresh homemade bread that looked good, but we couldn't buy because we already had lots of bread. Didn't quite get the significance of the museum, which was about the history of glass making in Canada- although none of it had anything to do with King's Landing. Maybe it was a question of timing and we were not there when all the activities they talk about were taking place. There was apparently a music festival taking place when we were there. Nice grounds.
Sugar bush wasn't very well organized. However, King's Landing is a beautiful spot.
This place is unbelievably cool. Went to the sugar bush and I especially loved the fact that the trappers were actually cooking a real rabbit over an open fire and even offered me some to eat. Some lady was horrified, but the guy's response was hilarious... stating that she must come from Fredericton! Don't ever change..
Absolutely fabulous. Thank gosh thete are still people willing to volunteer in order to keep our Canadian History alive. I will go back again and again.✈
Great produce and donuts.
Showed up at 2:45, was not told place closes at 4 but was still charged full price and the only thing got to see was maple boil. Which was dine with last years syrup.
What a cool place to visit. I remember going as a kid but there is nothing like visiting kings landing as an adult to truly appreciate history.
A must see if you are in Fredericton area.
A wonderful way to spend a day!
loved it!
Love this place very cozy and nice
Always an interesting experience with lots if opportunities to learn about Canadian history!
This was an adventure! I had lots of fun and got to interact with so many different characters. The displays are really well done and it makes you feel like you are back in colonial times.
I love the place. IT is always a pleasure to make a visit.
A lot of walking, but well worth it! The King's Head Inn has delicious food and the little pub even has a ghost! To fully enjoy, start the day early. Loads of fun for the whole family.
Beautiful old buildings, the horse drawn wagon a bonus
Great family plcae for learning histroy and activities. We try to go once very summer. And we learn something new every time. It's to the point I quiz the staff....lol. we enjoy it everytime. Kids may go twice because its a good school trip in the spring. Highly recommend if your interested onnhands on histroy. My shops are active. Black smith, print shop, school house. And interaction with households. Try some baked goods. The mill and grainry is a marvel
Wonderful experience. Something for every season!
If you have an interest in understanding of how communities survived in the mid 1800's this place is a must. The demonstration of day to day activities clearly displayed the icreative ingenuity of the people in that era.
A wonderful step back in history.
Takes about 4 hours to visit all. Nice day. Scenic views friendly and informative staff.
Amazing acting skills cool scenery great for all ages
Wonderful place to visit!
Historical place to visit..even after so many times it never gets boring..
Nice place to spend a day with the family.
Lots to learn, the back half with in workers character is fun.
Great place to relax, enjoying scenic locations, country music, rivers and everything in between.
Awesome time and learned a lot
Lots to see. Takes you back in time. Great service. Lots of parking and a great way to get your steps on while enjoying the view.
Great place to spend time in the past????????
Kings Landing is a trip back in time everyone needs to take! The staff and volunteers make every experience authentic, and make you crave your next return!
Absolutely perfect for a great way to blast into the past! With live actors, shops, churches, food and so much more entirely from the antique era, it is the one and only place to be! Make sure to wear comfortable walking clothing - there is so much to explore here!
I haven't lived in the area long, so this was my first visit and I loved it so much!! The artifacts are beautiful! The staff were so inviting and informative! Everyone played their parts wonderfully! And the place is huge! Save time for the horse drawn carriage rides. Our driver was a "newbie" driver and he did great!! Haha Mrs. Grant at Grant Store was very informative ;) I can't wait to take my hubby there and get a rocking horse for my Mother :)
Wonderful place to visit, great staff and both educational and fun! A bit like stepping into the 1800's.
Always enjoyed it. A great outing just to relax. very family oriented.
It’s a cool place ever I have been visited in Fredricton
Excellent pioneer village
A great experience. Lots to see.
Talk about an amazing time at King's Landing! If you love learning about history and want to see some real authentic historic homes then this is the place for you. From the very moment you arrive you are greeted by friendly people in period accurate costumes. And it only gets better from there! Absolutely loved the atmosphere and feeling of going back in time. Check this place out, it's great for the whole family, you won't regret it!!
We spent 2-3 hours here and it was more impressive than we thought it would be
A lovely stroll in bygone days. You can take a wagon back to the starting point....
I had visited a handful of times as a child (and always loved it) but today was the best visit so far! Bringing my own children to see King's Landing added a whole new level of enjoyment. Staff/actors were so wonderful and engaging, the buildings were so beautifully preserved and presented and the joy of watching my kids run from place to place to was priceless! Can't wait to bring them back!
Located just outside Fredericton is an amazing place Go take a step back in time and learn about life in a simpler age free from 21st century technology. They host many events throughout the year from Christmas dinners to Sugar bush weekends to Visiting Cousins in the summer. Check their website for more information and events.
I always love going to Kings Landing!
We are having a wonderful time
Great experience!!!
Don't miss it!
So fun and educAtional
Visited on a rainy day in early June with our 9-month old daughter and had a wonderful time. Staff are very friendly and informative. The village was bustling with life, even on a regular crumby day. Leave at least 4-5 hrs if you want to see everything. Be sure to visit the blacksmith and he may forge you a nail to take home.
I truly felt like I was back in time! The premises are beautifully kept and there's a wide variety of homes, barns, stores, garden etc. to see. All of the "locals" do a great job of making it an authentic experience. We stopped by the restaurant and shared a grilled cheese with a salad, which was fresh and delicious!
it is a very attractive place, kids enjoy a lot!
Too cool to see everything and everyone from back then
Loved the interactions with the enployees. The saw mill and the print shop we awsome and knowledgleable.
Highly interactive and rather large. Definitely worthwhile.
Really cool to step back in time. Always attend the York Sunbury search and rescue fundraiser in the spring.
Time travel is possible. You want to go to the 1800s? Visit this place.
I love Kings landing. I keep going every year with family and friends. The kids never got bored of it yet.
A fabulous place to go back in time. Greatly improved over my visit in 2018.
Always a good time to be had. Easily could spend an afternoon here. I have been many times but this is the first since COVID restrictions have relaxed. Some buildings were closed and I contribute this to the COVID protocols. 100% recommend for people of all ages.
Take a trip in the time machine back to the 19th century.
Great place to take the kids to learn a little history.
This is an awesome historical site with replica and original, restored homes from the 1800s. There is an inn with English-style pub that serves food. There is a working, water-wheel powered sawmill! A lot to see and do surrounded by gorgeous scenery that includes the Saint John river.
Awesome place to spend a day and don't rush yourself when you go or you will miss out on something. All the actors were great and friendly truly a walk back in time and it is even better if you are taking kids they really play to the kids don't skip this truly amazing action when your in New Brunswick.
We went here for the maple syrup weekends. Although the line was crazy (about an hour) the kids enjoyed it. There were horse and wagon rides and the restaurant over the hill was open. I enjoyed and would do it again!!
Live rite beside it...kinda take it for granted! My dad was the gardner there for 25yrs...an amazing place to visit for sure..take a step back in time for real....a definite must when passing through NB on the TCH!!
I have been going to Kings Landing since I was a child living in Fredericton. It is now a place a visit every year when I return to Fredericton.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the buildings are very well kept. Beautiful location!
Lots of history here to be heard
Great great historical place... for real is like going back in time and be able to live that moment... a must when you visit New Brunswick... five stars
The best living museum in Atlantic Canada. Employees of the museum dressed in historical costumes reenact living in 18th and 19th centuries. Plan half a day. You will be fully immersed in the living and working in 1783 and 1863.
I love this place. It's like going back in time. I always learn something new when I go and I usually go a couple times a year.
Great place to go with kids!
Not to be missed. Lots of engaging actors playing their roles well. Lots of interaction with the visitors.
Kids loved all the things to play with.
Stumbled upon Kings Landing back in 2016 on our trip out east. What a cool place to go adventure for the day, you really feel like you've gone back in time! You won't regret any time spent here with the family!
Great friendly staff with free horse drawn wagon rides. Lots of people in character and wearing period costumes. Washrooms, a period style Inn which serves food, alcoholic drinks and offers lodging, gift shop, operational water wheel powered mill and more. A little pricey (I believe it was just over $40 Canadian for myself and my spouse)but still greatly enjoyed ourselves .
Been there 4 times and will go again.
Outstanding open air museum, with people in period costumes and in their character roles.
Nice reconstitution of a loyalist village.
Kings Landing is a lovely way to spend a day in a historically different time! The set up of the houses are nice and in such detail and you can explore every part of the different buildings. It is certainly tremendous fir kids to explore, but even for curious adults there is enough to discover. Be sure to ask the locals (actors) about anything you wonder about, they can tell you everything you want to know without losing their act. Very pleasing especially if you try to fit in by roleplaying. My boyfriend read desperately trying to get an apprenticeship at the carpenter and the blacksmith!;) A special thanks goes not only to the actors who enlightened and brightened our stay at Kings Landing with lots of informations and good role playing but also to the charming ladies at the front desk who gave us lots of tips for our proceedung trip! Oh and the price is really cheap for what you will experience here! Greetings Carole and Robin
They do a great job of presenting what life would have been like in early 19th century NB. Relaxing and informative.
We absolutely loved our visit to Kings Landing. We visited on a Wednesday in mid September and there was hardly any other visitors there so it really felt like we were welcome strangers in an old village. Everyone in the village were so friendly and helpful and informative. I was impressed by how they stayed in character and had wonderful stories to tell. We spent probably 4 hours there and could have stayed longer! We'll definitely return next time we are back visiting New Brunswick.
It was our first visit, and we loved it! We learned alot about that time period and the staff were nice and had great characters! Will be returning!
Despite being freezing cold the day we went, was a great experience to see the culture and lifestyle !
Goid service, lots of information, great displays
We went there on our way back to Ontario. It is a nice place that you can experience the life about 200 years ago. As some of the other comments, the man in the saw mill is very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the time spent there Totally worth the $22 ticket.
Not my first time to visit the place before was great but now with the new concept is boring. The first part are only museum with pictures and text. No interaction with people and that look empty. The second part is still good with interaction but can be better.
Excellent place for couples, family and friends. Great way to spend a day learning about our history. We had so much fun with the staff. Thank you all for a wonderful day. Beautiful area.
It's an amazing experience to be transported back in time... not just educational but also lots of fun !
This is a very very nice place for a quick 1-2 hours cultural visit to see what life was like back in the days. King's landing has definitely wowed me more than once during my visit. The waterwheel and the Black Smith are the must see if you plan on visiting there. Enjoy and have fun!
Known the place forever and went back two years ago. Fantastic experience for young and old.
Beautifully maintained historical site!! Staff are great at role playing and are very informative. Such a calming experience!! Definitely recommended!!
Great experience, very much appreciated the Veterans discount. Very historical, the staff are amazing.
Amazing place
Family had fun, like the new split between the museum and the historical sides.
Awesome people, food was exquisite, sites beautiful...
My family enjoys our yearly visit! See you in 2020
This was a winter visit. A lot of potential. Beautiful walk food was good. There needs to be a clear delineation of staff from public uniform/pins. The lines in front need to be cash only and debit/credit because the wait was excessive. The front lobby should have music representative of the period rather than silence. Also make use of other technology such as monitors to explain exhibits rather than hard boards that age. I am not sure if there is a tour App to explain buildings and site but this would be helpful. Stop pressure washing the naturally aged lodge so deeply it is ruining the wood. I have heard they hired a new Administrator so i assume she will read social media. That said i will be back.
Lots of fun for families.
Prepare to spend all day! Lovely place.
Ok. Sugarbush weekend was understaffed and attractions were limited. Lineup to see two pots boiling took 45 minutes.
Had a blast there.
Enjoyable step back in time. great staff.
Love love LOVE this place. It is seriously so special. It's great to get out of the city for a while and the walking is great. Brought my friend from Montreal here and we had a blast!
Our favourite place in New Brunswick to visit
lovely tourist attraction, even for freddy beach locals. had a lot of fun, spent about 4 hours walking, seeing animals, taking horse rides.
What a great place! Great actors and actresses who play their role well without being cheesy. Loved that we had access to all areas versus things being roped off. A special shout out to the guy at the saw mill! The food at The Kings Head restaurant was absolutely delicious! The brown bread, ginger cake, and cider were notable items you have to try. The fish cakes and venison stew were amazing. Great service too! Overall, it was a great excursion and well worth the cost.
Like going back in time for real, great day adventure.
An excellent retreat from the busy life and from the busy time. Don't forget to get the maple sweets!
Absolutely fantastic place! We stayed for 4 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it. Their level of attention to details is phenomenal.
This was a pleasant surprise. Was afraid that it would be cheesy with people in character but it turned out to be very educational and interesting. The kids loved it too. The food at Kings Inn was also excellent!
My brother and sister-in-law work out here they have done so for many years they talk to many different countries I mean people they are quite educated in many languages in the arts and crafts of the past just don’t ask for them by name they go by what they are tasked Jim and Elizabeth Davido I want to the few people that I truly miss on a daily basis because they are true family
It's like taking the DeLorean back in time!
Fantastic family activity. I brought my two teenagers and even they really enjoyed it. Friendly 'villagers' talk about village life, saw some farm animals, my daughter got to try spinning wool, and we ate at the King's Head Inn. Tasty food and again, friendly staff. Highly recommended.
A beautiful place for walking with children and friends, exhibitions are changing, a good restaurant
First time here, very fun!
It's like you are really in the 1800s.
Much improved due to a recent change in management.
Food was delicious and service and atmosphere was great!
This whole place is a delight to visit. Just don't think you'll do it in a hour unless you want to peek and run.
First time back in a few years. Spent about 3.5 hours and almost made it to all the buildings. Much more information to read than I remember.
This place surprised us as we had no idea what it would be like. Super big site, and actors were really into their story, which makes it more authentic. You must try the restaurant there, and the brown bread. All is really home made and it feels like it. Go!
Absolutely loved this place. I've been to similar places in the past but this one is second to none. The staff play their characters really well and have a breadth of knowledge to field the weirdest questions we had. Special kudos to Mr. Munn and his mother-in-law song :)
Always something new to learn there.
My sister and I brought our partners to visit the King's Landing Sugar Bush. We hadn't been to Kings Landing since our school years, so over 10 years for me, and our partners had never been. It was a great experience and we had a perfect, sunny day for it! We were coming from Douglas, and at first took the wrong turn into the staff entrance (Kings Head Inn sign) but then came back out and found the right entrance (there were Sugar Bush signs up at this point). There were a lot of people when we went, on Sunday, which made waiting in line a bit long, but I think we were also right in the middle of the rush because once we got our tickets or got our food, and looked back, there was no more line up! Haha! Anyway, a beautiful day, and we look forward to coming back in the summer!
Beautiful and fun place to visit. I love saying hi to all the animals, and choosing which house I would like to live in. We bought a season pass because it's worth coming back to enjoy this gorgeous and well maintained property.
We visited three years ago and again today. Such a fun place. There were very well-informed guides in every venue either explaining history or acting as if they were living it. Every single one had their routine down pat. The grounds are gorgeous.
Great place to visit with the family
Bring you back to 19th century, the best place to visit
Lovely place. We came just at harvest and picked apples, found mushrooms, saw beautiful buildings and had lovely conversations with the time frame actors.
Really fun experience. Friendly staff and great learning opportunities. We had got free admission the day we went because work was being done so it wasn't "the full experience" will go back
very well kept and worth every penny to get in.They have many special events.I want.to enjoy there Thanksgiving dinner
Excellent historical settlement. The people are all friendly and the the actors stay in character so well.
Incredible living museum. One of the best in Canada. Not to be missed.
Awesome bread. Interesting historical site. Knowledgeable staff, made it interesting for the whole family.
A very special and unique development, well worth the visit for those interested in a nalstagic look at the past . . !!
Great place to go for Thanksgiving dinner! Best pumpkin pie ever!!!!!
Great fun.
Such an amazing experience! The staff take their role very seriously and are more than professional. You will totally feel like you traveled back in time. A must !!!
It accumulates plenty of over one-hundred-year old buildings. Great place to know about one century people's life. The scenery is spectacular and gorgeous.
Amazing service. I have a bad knee, They have motorized vehicle or scooter which was the best thing with limited mobility. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The grounds were immaculate. One would think you were in that time. Thanks for everything. Brenda.
Your expectations will be blown. This is a great period settlement with many opportunities for interactions and learning. I loved the saw mill!
A must see visit back in time...excellent reenactments...don't miss the guy in the saw mill!!
Something for everyone! Great family adventure!
Beautiful place that calm your senses and delivers wonderful experience.Mu
Fun little way to spend the day around Fredericton. This would be a neat experience for kids, although we enjoyed it just as well. The scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly. Everything is rustic and authentic, it’s well maintained.
Had a great time
My daughter adored everything
Was very nice and the staff was great.
An awesome place for a family adventure
Such an amazing place. Loved the history.
Really worth your while! Lots to see and do. Great actors in the living part of the village. Well preserved buildings and artifacts.
Great experience for the kids. Had a great day
Nice place for a family
Excellent service Fantastic thanks giving dinner
Is not much to see.before is better.
Amazing time, can't wait to go back
Beautiful place! Great for a family trip!
An amazing complex of historical buildings, churches, workshops, with fantastic staff, costumes, exhibits , farm creatures and gardens. All located on the banks of the St. John river
Make sure to spray yourself with bug spray cus the mosquitoes around this area can bite hard and very painful and itchy.
Love this place...the staff are constantly staying in character...beautiful experience
Awesome place to visit!
Beautiful !
Took my 7 year old to play Pokemon Go Sunday afternoon. Drove in the main gates which were wide open and no signs posted. Within a couple minutes we were cut off by a red work truck and asked to leave. The employee was extremely rude and made my son very uncomfortable. Things could have been handled differently, I hope this is an isolated incident and not a reflection on the rest of the staff.
Unique place, interesting history
A nice history lesson. It was worth the afternoon visit. Food was very good and people in character were interesting.
Great actors, feel like in the 19th century ????
Always a fun place for the family.
Neat reconstruction. Mindful of a rural Williamsburg
Beautiful, living museum
Ot really brings you back in time great staff worth a visit plan at least half a day
amazing place!!
Nice place for a family to visit
Incredible experience, best historical site i've ever been too, definitely a must see!
Such a lovely step back into New Brunswick's history. The characters are very knowledgeable and eager to include visitors in the day to day operations of the village.
Great place for the young and old. As you walk or take the wagon around the town you get to see and talk to all the characters that are in period dress. You get to see and hear how things were back in the 1700' s.
We particularly enjoyed the Black section.
What an amazing play to spend a day. Enjoyed it a lot.
Interesting immersive walk through the past.
I payed same price of summer time but it didn't look like summer time, because almost all house close and just working the horses and big restaurant, you guys leave open the building for make money for your business and you didn't leave open the structure where people can watching a lot things like the school, mill, so I thing that you guys in winter time need just pay half price. About the breakfast, I like that but my girlfriend vegetarian she payed actually I payed the same price 11 $ and she ate just potato, anyway I like the place.
Kings Landing is a New Brunswick, living history museum with original buildings from the period of 1820-1920. It was created around buildings that were saved and moved to make way for the headpond for the Mactaquac Dam. Although Kings Landing is not and never was a real village, but it’s a very nice place for all the family. Kings Landing is a representation of rural New Brunswick during the 19th and early 20th century. It is not a replica of an actual village, but a collection of salvaged or recreated buildings from around the Mactaquac headpond and other locations around New Brunswick. With few exceptions, all the historical buildings on the site have been moved and remodelled to specific years in their history. The project was originally started in the late 1960s and continues to the present day, as new buildings are being added every few years.
Great for any age. Not recommended for those who aren't mobile
Wonderful place to visit STAFF very friendly and food great
So fun and informative, beautiful place to visit in the fall
It's a walk in the past great time and very enlightening
Was beautiful. We love to came to visit every fall
Great spot to spend the day with the family. You'll need pretty much a full day to see everything, lots to see and not rush through. We were there for about 4 hours and didn't get to see everything we wanted. If you have a library card from the province(I think?) You can save alot on admission.
Wonderful place to go and spend the day and friendly atmosphere!
What a beautiful spot for an almostbspring walk! And the Search and Rescue maple syrup breakfast was yummy too!
So picturesque. The people put so much into explaining the time period too. Gave a better understanding of how it would have been.
A great place for the family. I saw a review that said there was no actors. I'm guessing that person didn't go across the bridge to where the actors are. There are two parts only one of which has actors.
Great place to visit. Seeing the old buildings and way of life. Interacting with the workers and smelling the home cook meals.
Amazing...place...
Loved it all the staff is very knowledgeable and you feel like you are back in time
Even with social distancing, our experience was top notch
I really enjoyed our visit. Very interesting the way they have preserved everything the way it was from that historical period.
What a lovely place with some of the loveliest people I've met! And not just the employees. Everyone there just seemed so cheerful! Must be something in the air! Do keep in mind that it's a huge place and you can't really rely on the infrequent horse buggy, so be prepared to walk quite a bit. But once you step into the first house where 19th century ladies are knitting away by a fireplace, you'll really step back in time and the long walk doesn't seem so bad anymore.
a must see place if you like history
Lovely people. Had a great experience!
A must do once in your lifetime!!
Love this place, I can’t wait to go back and visit it again!
The wood mill is excellent to see and the actors there are so friendly and knowledgeable, the print house is also a must stop the two gentleman inside ate engaging, funny and very knowledgeable too. Make sure to stop at these for a few minutes.
Really fun , staff and sites are amazing . Very educational.
Visiting their market inside the gift shop, enjoying Mary's bakery treats. It would be nice if locals could have lunch at the Inn without a full pass.
Nice place to visite with the family! But the upkeep has not been done. Paint is peeling everywhere. Lack of historical animation like at the village historique acadien!
Was an amazing day. We love the old artifacts. The turkey dinner was a big bonus.
Very nice plave to spend time near Fredericton
Great facility. It makes you appreciate how life was almost 100 years ago or so, and how people lived, worked, and made things happen. Great staff who were always 'in character' and extremely knowledgeable of their craft, and of the times that they are reliving for us. There is also an old style pub/restaurant on site, too. ;)
fantastic place real step.back in time
Amazing and fun experience for kids and adults. Great price, so much to do and really friendly and creative staff.
Me and my girlfriend loved our visit ????
This was one of the highlights of our trip. It was so interesting to visit the pioneer homes and businesses and talk with the employees in their period costumes. Good family spot to visit. We also enjoyed a delicious turkey pot pie for lunch. Would highly recommend.
What a great way to experience living in the past.
It's such a nice place to visit! The "actors" really get into their roles and are great at telling all the stories and answering all the questions! A great place to bring your kids to make lasting memories and learn about their heritage
Definitely a trip back in time
It has become a family tradition to enjoy dinner here during the Christmas season. We were thankful to be able to do this once again in 2020!
Amazing christmas event, dinner was excellent, music was well done and St Nics story too!
Always enjoy a visit to Kings Landing. A walk in the past the way our ancestors lived.
Always love visiting here!
Even though it was a hot day, we had a blast! Wonderful people, and if you are hungry you must eat at the kings head inn! Absolutely delicious!
Love the history that has been preserved.
Has been one of my favorite historical villages since I was a small child; was so happy to come back years later to find it going strong with many more new things to do and experience.
Have always had a good experience here. However, this time the staff were not as forthcoming with information. You had to ask a lot of the right questions to learn anything. Big change from last year's experience. Disappointed. Heard there have been government cutbacks causing disgruntled staff.
Went to the festival. It was a blast from the past. Lol. Had a really good time with the family. And the place is really cool also. Horse rides, the first house with running water... a bar, with a huge hearth.
The staff are so friendly and welcoming
Been probably 35 years since I was last here and it was a treat for my wife and I to take my parents here for the afternoon. To our surprise they'd never been here so it was not only great to revisit as if for the first time but to witness my parents see everything for the first time was just awesome. And my dad's mom's grandparent's home (the Jones House) was moved many years ago and placed here at Kings Landing so it was even more special to walk through it and hear stores from my dad's childhood too. Awesome place highly recommend everyone to visit and take time to step back in time and stop to smell the flowers as you walk through the village take a wagon ride or grab a bite to eat at the Inn.
A nice day trip from Fredericton. Beautiful place to walk around. People very friendly. Lots to see and hear!
This place is very informative and a great place to take children, I really liked the general store run by Mr Grant.
Awesome place. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to see it all. They should stay open longer in summer.
We were a family of 5. Kids ages were 8-12. We all absolutely loved our experience. It took us approximately 5hours to get through the village and we were rushing, so give yourself plenty of time to soak it all in. The food was absolutely delicious.
Great since they returned to the old way
Amazing pla2
Great place! It is very authentic of the times and a great place for the kids to learn about the "olden days". I got to milk a cow and the kids made some book marks on an old printing press.
Awesome staff, awesome experiences!
Very beautiful recommand to anyone visiting
Makes you think about how much we depend on food suppliers but don't have to.
Very rustic . Very clean with a staff that went above and beyond for us. Highly recomend and will stay there again
Beautiful
Wonderful place and should be one spot that everyone needs to experience.
My S.O. & I went there when it opened and spent a good 4 hours and didn't get to view everything or hear every history story to be told. We had amazing visit, it was our first time coming to this place and we both loved the adventure, story telling and the history behind Kings Landing. They have plenty of history to be told and make sure if you go that you go has early has possible to give you enough time to visit the whole place.
Sugar Bush experience We took the pancake breakfast, if you are from Quebec it's not the" Cabane à sucre experience". You have 1 plate with pancake, egg, sausage, beans and bacon and a coffee and juice. But the after is perfect a walk in a old village with people who explained the old fashioned method to do the maple syrup. Music at the pub with people in old clothes. Hope to see it in the summer time with more people and homes open.
Consistently an amazing experience. Everyone rightly talks about the history and educational value of a visit, but it is also agonizingly beautiful.
A must see attraction. A great way to relax and enjoy the company you're with while taking in a bit of history.
My daughters and I had a really great time!
Went to King's Head restaurant and waited 20 minutes in line. We ordered fish and chips and they were all sold out. disappointing. The rest of the trip and all else was good. Hoping for fish and chips next time.
A great puece of living history. It is done so well.
We loved Kings landing highly recommend it ! Very much worth the cost. Everyone stays in character you really feel like your back in the old times! They have great little tours and even a place to dress and take pictures! Family friendly for sure a must see.
Beautiful property and very scenic. Walking tour and guide was very informative.
Fun if you like history or antiques. Much bigger than I expected, it will take at least 3 or 4 hours if you want to see everything. The characters seemed very knowledgeable and willing to have a little fun.
Love this place
Beautiful spot but was hard to catch the wagon as it was always full
Very nice and helpful staff, very knowledgeable actors and extremely well-kept buildings and ground! Great!
Good educational fun for the whole family!
Nice loved our visit , my advice if actors approach you play along it's fun. Be for or better against there cause and discover a hidden world ;)
Spent 4.5 hours walking and exploring. Lots to see. Enjoyed it.
It's a must place to visit
Nice place for famely time and very nice historics site
I loved visiting this place. It was a great day we had. Very Nice and friendly people.
Wonderful place to visite. Staff very, very friendly. I really enjoyed my visit and definitely plan to go again soon :)
Kind of like experiencing Westworld in real life. Kids loved the horse rides.
We loved it! There was so much to do and the information was excellent. Food at the inn was delicious, wagon rides were fun, and the gift shop was reasonably priced. Everyone was so nice and willing to share their knowledge. Would go back again for sure!
A great place to bring your family and friends.
Very interesting. Nice folks. Good for all ages....except those who can't walk long distances.
Amazing community of historical proportions! Wonderful learning possibilities for young & old! My wife & l spent 5 hours....and had a great lunch!
Good historical place to bring your family
Beautiful day for a walk around
