This is a nice place. But the building is small and the exhibitions are limited. Not many things to view. 45 mins is plenty for it. Not a must go place for Buffalo, not bad either.

A nice place to spend an afternoon.

This museum provides an excellent collection of artifacts from local and US history.

Cool promotion going on. It’s a nice little visit. Loved the Sports History section. They even have a part where you can do your own voice commentary for some of Buffalo’s best sports moments.

Julia Meldrum

Jennifer Ryan

Beautiful exhibits. Very informative. Will definitely go again.

Heather McGonigle

Party on the Portico is a fabulous Friday evening in the summer. Great music venue while overlooking Mirror Lake and sipping on beer or wine. Take a moment and tour the museum and learn about what shaped Buffalo over the years.

Michael Miller

Price if fair. Docents are friendly. Love the history of the building itself. When I was there, there were a number of unused rooms. They really could (and should expand). Still, you have to love the "disciples clock". That alone is worth the visit.

Elliot Stevenson

Wonderful museum highlighting the history of the Buffalo area.

Collin Ortner

Wonderful WW1 exhibit! All in all a great place for a history lover or just a regular old joe!!

Holly Hannah have you seen this place. You are walking or driving by and you feel that you are in Rome! This place is over the top fancy. Just looking at the building is enough. I don't think I could go inside. It would not be a good idea. I may have an orgasm or something!

It is one of the best thing to see in Buffalo especially if you are new to American culture. They have three floors where they have different things to showcase at each floor. Like trains, war history, sports etc.

I wanted to love the Buffalo History Museum, however I was very disappointed. I hadn't been there in a few years and it only has gotten worse. There were very limited displays and one of the largest wasn't even working. Jamming a bunch of small memorabilia in a case is not an exhibit. So much of Buffalo's history isn't even displayed. Buffalo's role in the Erie canal, underground railroad, and revolutionary war are barely mentioned. Also hardly a mention of Buffalo's architecture, melting pot of cultures, and Buffalo's importantance in 19th century society. The reason for the building even being there, the Pan American Expo, didnt even have a display

Great exhibits

Gray Snake

Such a beautiful building, and so much history in this area

To be honest, I did not exactly go to the history museum. I was at their beautiful gardens. It is by far one of my top things to do every year. It is gorgeous and the walk through the park is great. If you want it to be a quiet visit go before 10... on the weekends especially. After that it is bustling with people. Quite eclectic too all ages, relaxing, biking, skating, jogging, playing cards, picnicking. A symbol of our great city.

Very beautiful, there are several cherry blossom trees next to the museum, it is so beautiful!

M Keith

As a Buffalo history fanatic, I found it very disappointing. A lot of wasted space in a gorgeous building, not a lot of attraction. Learned a lot more and saw alot more just by going on Google.

Megan

A great place. Be sure to read all of the writing. A great mixture of modern and old time history. The architecture is stunning and is part of the history.

Prices are pretty legit. They have a discount for students which is $5 and $10 for adults. There are some nice exhibits to visit. I recommend going out with friends or even family. In my opinion, worth the time and money.

We recently visited in April to see the cherry blossoms in the Japanese garden. It was beautiful. Everyone was out biking, jogging, or strolling. Some people were picnicking on a blanket. It's just a beautiful place to be.

The Buffalo History Museum is a neoclassical symphony. When cherry blossom season starts , gleaming through the year, until the thereafter. Each time the sunset clouds appear richer. Where silence falls, under the muses read reality. In their narrative that echoes, on the verge, the calls of spring, serene internal powers. Heavy handed small stories, all against a shimmering background . Withstanding all worlds, recent doorsteps ringing, a dreamy theme, to be told. The sheen from the visible moon, glimmering like colorful glass, in the Japanese gardens . Sparkling the coloring, of developing works. In the shadows of saints, soundlessly nostalgic repetition. The pleasant occurrence of poetry.

Spectacular museum in a beautiful building and setting. Staff kind, lots of interesting exhibits on Buffalo's past. Interesting to see what Buffalo was like in its "gilded age" of industrialization.

Christopher Carlsson

Badly displayed and labeled exhibits , buttons that did not work to activate any of the displays , a general air of disrepair , few real displays compared to all the possibilities given Buffalos rich history, and more at the level of a small town historical society than a city museum.Overall kind of a sad place...

Boring!! Barely any exhibits. Not worth the visit. Being it's a buffalo history museum expected more buffalo type exhibits.

I was exceptionally lucky to have the opportunity to perform here during Christmastime 2009 with the CMS (Community Music School) of Buffalo's Community Chorus. We sang Christmas carol sets in between other local talents and musical acts. We had the opportunity to briefly browse the museum during downtime, which was an incredible experience! So much local Buffalo history under one roof! The building itself is beautiful. Posting this review reminds me that I must return again soon!

The Buffalo History Museum is a beautifully designed building overlooking Delaware Park. This is a true gem to see the history of the city, and it is great to see all the unqiue showcases on display. Admission is very fair considering the size of the exhibits, which is great for any organization promoting Buffalo culture. I think the museum is a must-see if visiting the area.

Amazing trip!! Came in when it was kind of slow, front staff was very kind and helpful. They helped us with a children's scavenger hunt that was going on. Everyone there seemed so kind and passionate about history. I learned so much about Buffalo's history that I never knew before. I was even approached by a history buff that gave me his own mini tour and my son and I learned so much! I cannot begin to explain how my child and I enjoyed the trip. Kind and helpful employees everywhere I turned. Each floor had something more interesting than the next, great time. Highly recommend!!

We went initially for the auto show and ended up viewing the museum exhibits for free as well as the Japanese Gardens on our way out

very disappointed in my visit.. I needed to come thru the handicapped door, waited for the elevator for about 20 min as they were moving furniture. paid my fee and only then was told that the floor was being set up for a wedding, and only 1/2 exhibits available.. went to 2nd floor only to find limited access to only 1/2 of the floor as again blocked by tables... what I could access didn't real express what I thought the buffalo area is and was about. no erie canal, steel mills, war of 1812, automotive, etc. my daughter tried to get a response from the museum management with no response....
