We offer you the opinions of real people like you who used the services of Albright-Knox Art Gallery (Museum) in the area of Fort Erie (Canada).
To this day this firm gets a score of 4.6 stars over 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is practically the best one, and it's founded on a high number of scores, so we can say that the valuation is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are happy with the service, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to give opinions when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum is included in the category of Art museum.
Always new and interesting artwork to discover inside and out!
The docent wasn't very efficient but very knowledgeable. It was a great experience.
This First Friday performance was incredibly impressive. The whole crowd was dancing with the group. The Buffalo Afrobeats gave a great performance. Much love.
Love it every single time. Great selections and huge collections. A fun and insightful visit for you and the whole family Everytime!
Some truly temarkable pieces in the permanent collection.
Wonderful place to hold events and learn about famous artists. Magnificent building and surroundings. The staff always make you feel welcome and you learn something new on every visit.
Our family LOVES the Albright-Knox! It's a must-visit for all Buffalovers out there- during any season!
A gem in our city. Really enjoyed the perspectives exhibit.
Good collections. February black history month display was exceptional. Brought my God children and had them read timeline of event to ensure partipation. They loved it.
Nothing bad to say about this place! Great staff, and excellent displays. Will return.
The collection is pretty impressive considering the size of the place and even the outdoor installation pieces are great. Definitely worth checking out. Also, free first Fridays!
By far the best museum in the region.
Important Buffalo institution! Worth a visit!
Its an amazing place there's the museum which is beautiful and sometimes changes
The place has a café, a VanGoh painting, and cool things for kids.
Karen is the best! I attend the monthly Veteran events, and she always puts so much care into the tour and activities. That being said, all of the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Add to that, the offer new and amazing art, constantly. It's like a new gallery every time I step in there! If you haven't visited, add this to your list of places to see!
Best art gallery, worth the trip to Buffalo
Very knowledgeable guide named Eleanor made the experience educational with people's interaction and views on all art pieces.
Nice gallery. A little bit of an odd layout and the staff were persistent on all liquids in water bottles being drunk before entering (which seemed a bit silly, but hey, it's the rules I guess).
Can't wait for the expansion!
For such a small museum that had some amazing works! We loved their cafe too. Would give it a fifth star if I'd enjoyed the upstairs exhibit.
My favorite part of the day is strolling the halls and looking at the great art on exhibit.
A beautiful Greco Roman art museum, there is something there for a whole family.
Went during their Free Admission week and we were allowed to see the whole upstairs as well ???? We had a great time.
Went to see the Pablo Picasso exhibit. Had a wonderful time in the entire museum. The parking is moderately priced but the lot is rather small. The gallery stretches for two floors and has a variety of different art media. The gift shop has a lot of great goods, and there is a café in the building.
Nice but whole top floor was closed off at the time due to an addition being done.
Great museum, wonderful art I love the canoes!
Hello Word, this historic place is worth all 5 starsssss. The family outings should include this Art Gallery. There is so much conversation, learning and creativity that forms from visiting this place. When you have a moment don't just send your children on fieldtrip's with the school, Parents take your children and watch all the fun you have with bonding that you will cherish forever. Have a beautiful blessed day :)
An amazing permanent collection with wonderfully curated exhibits. I only wish there was more room to display more of the works they have but they do rotate them from time to time.
Excellent art Museum with different displays coming in every couple months.
I went to the Picasso exhibit with my school. Some reviews have said that there are guards everywhere, but there arent. There's one per room. It was full of beautiful art, although not alot. But it was wonderful getting to go again ♡
Always have beautiful artwork
Nice gallery to see modern art.
It was super fun and the art was incredible! loved it. they have a very formal cafe that's a bit expensive but the food was great. The gift shop was super cute and had a ton of little gadgets that were affordable, although some were also a bit expensive.
One of the greatest galleries in Buffalo, NY!!!
Excellent lunch in the cafe. Fabulous gallery.
Under construction, looks amazing!
It's an art museum. It's pretty cool. They've got some weird exhibits in here though. They've got like an entire floor dedicated to some dude obsessed with film. Like he deadass pickled film in a jar.
Very nice modern collection with a hall of fame that includes Giacometti, Monet, Degas, Kandinsky, Gaugin, Brancusi, Mondrian, Vangogh and more in one hallway! Definitely worth the time.
Nice quiet laid-back place to check out art and get go great views of the city
Beautiful gallery that was kind enough to open for the marathon runners 15 October.
Beautiful and relaxing
A world class Art Gallery with a surprising collection of masters from early Impressionism to Current day. There is a regular schedule of touring and special exhibits as well. Not to be missed if visiting Buffalo or if you are a local artist needing some creative inspiration.
Beautiful Olmsted Park site, wonderful collection in a relaxing atmosphere.
Great place for a weekend getaway, interesting pieces of art and various paintings are a feast to the eyes. The place is clean and well maintained, there is a theatre at the 2nd floor for art shows and presentations. Various structures lie outside the gallery too, which are photogenic spots. There is a fountain made out of utensils in the middle of the hallway, good to look at maybe. They also have a small souvenir shop inside, if you like collecting stuff. Overall, a good place to spend a couple of hours, click some pictures and do some fam jam.
So cool, modern and fun, with some great permanent installations that make it worth seeing two or three times.
Great place to bring kids. Also great staff
Great, fun tour
Good collection..! They have selected artworks of famous artist..
dark room was great fun, unexpected variety of artists, looking forward to visiting again when completed expansion
Great place to hand out outside on the back side of the building. There's a cool staircase Rocky style.
Loved this Art Gallery for the wonderful atmosphere and for the explanation to each art work. This gave me not only the details : name of artist, name of art piece, dates and materials. . But also a pick to the artist motivation and to a general knowledge. It felt like going with a guide. Definitely coming back
Beautiful location. The permanent and traveling exhibitions are high quality.
What a gem: every piece is first-rate; you turn a corner and it's a sharp intake of breath "I know that!"
They have a Rothko, Van Gogh, Monet, Kusama and even Shark Girl. It was definitely a good surprise.
Small but full of distinguished art
Nice time and alot of art to see
Totally amazing totally worth seeing if your in b buffalo
VERY EXPENSIVE. They even charged me for my 2yo who was in a stroller. We had security guards follow us around to make sure we didn't touch anything, it was so strange.
Time after time, AK remains my favorite gallery. Where other galleries may exceed in sheer size, the Albright-Knox makes up in meaningful installation and placement, inventive use of space, and warm, knowledgeable staff. I only wish it were open longer!
Great stuff! Every time I have been there was enlightening and enjoyable. Knowledgeable, entertaining, and fun staff and patrons. A good time!
A very great place to visit
Under construction right now but when it opens is should be the dopest dope you've ever smoked
I grew up going to the Albright-Knox, and today I am continually surprised at how many very famous works of art they own! I hadn't realised til lately that the Jackson Pollock was THE Convergence, not to mention the works by Mondrian, Soutine, Chagall...the list goes on. It gives me great pride to tell people, "yes, that work is in the Albright-Knox in Buffalo." (I reside now in Australia). I go back with my family every time I visit home.
First place I took art lessons. Good blend of modern and classical . When in Buffalo, you must check it out.
So much fun!!! Love the sensory art upstairs!
So grateful to have a first-class art gallery in our beautiful Buffalo!
Very nice collection of artworks, easy to navigate through. Slowly walking through and looking at each artwork as well as the upstairs portion took about two hours.
Amazing place inside and out stocked full of beautiful sculptures and other art exhibits
Great place to go for first Fridays.
Great Modern Art Museum... A Tradition in Buffalo, NY. Fantastic exhibits and events - a True Cultural Gem in the Heart of The Queen City.
Greatest museum m in NY State outside of NYC. Great music series.
Decent place to view art. The staff is friendly and informative. The crowds are normally small and respectful.
Small Chamber Concerts are offered throughout the Seasons at very moderate affordable (even for me!) prices. Not to mention the exhilarating inspiring art.
Small gallery with gorgeous art and architecture. Great place to visit for an afternoon.
I love to go here and spend the day. They always have great and interesting exhibits the staff is always friendly and the gift shop always has something different and unique if you want to spend a day being in awe of people’s creativity this is definitely the place to go.
The Albright-Knox Art Gallery is excellent. It has a great collection and when we went, an interesting exhibit. We had a lovely time, and a nice light lunch at the gallery cafe. Its a short drive from Toronto, and makes a great day trip. Will be coming back soon.
One of the best places for classical and modern art
Amazing collection! Truly a gem in Buffalo!
A wonderful art gallery and the staff are very kind.
The best..Will stand up with even the finer gallries in Europe..
A must stop visit whenever we are in town. Spacious gallery layout allows them to bring in some special exhibitions that might not fit in smaller art galleries.
I keep coming back even though I live in Rochester. There is always a new and well curated exhibition going on and learning and understanding each is such a pleasure.
Small and easy to view art
Not bad experience there, but a little small.
Fabulous gallery. Even my kids who "hated it" still had a nice time in the end. We ate in the restaurant which was very nice. Lots of very nice works to see in a compact setting.
Phenomenal collection! Every time I'm there I'm shocked by a work they have!
incredible collection right here in Buffalo, and they attract great exhibits
Great collection. Cool building and layout. Wonderful docents and staff.
Great exhibits, knowledge staff, and reasonably priced. This place is a must go!
Small gallery that makes up for its small size through the amount of contemporary pieces on display. This museum is not for those wanting pre-expressionist work. The mirrored room is simply amazing
Wonderful museum, such a variety of exhibitions! Very much enjoyed our visit and even happened to go on a free weekend day but would have been happy to pay admission.
Wow, what great little museum! They have a good collection of paintings where it was like "The Greatest Hits" of well known artists.
This is a world class art museum. Filled with works from famous artists through history, to today. Have visited many times and it's always a joy to see my old faves and the new exhibits that are regularly passing through. Staff is friendly …
Lovely collection of modern and contemporary art.
Nice gallery with changing exhibitions and themes. Well worth visiting. Free parking with ticket.
Overall, fantastic. Some of the art is a little pretentious, like Joe Bradley's Schmagoo paintings. Literally just grease pencil on canvass. Most art is great, but some of these things just don't belong in an art gallery.
Smaller gallery with some decent pieces in their permanent collection. Came here to see the Picasso exhibit which was outstanding!
Love first fridays..its free on the first friday of the month or feel free to leave a small donation
Lovely place to visit.
wonderful experience,,.the collection holds many great examples of modern art
I was very sad not to see the antiquities that used to be here. I know it's been years since they have been gone but i miss them none the less. I'm not a Robert Indiana fan but i thought I'd check it out anyways. There is something about the antiquities that just cannot be replaced. They should dedicate some area for them. Unless there is an artist i specifically would like to see, i can't say I'll be back.
Well worth a trip. Not a huge gallery, but some terrific pieces and beautiful architecture.
Wonderful collection of Art. #3 collection of modern art rated on a global scale. First friday of every month is free admission.
Great selection from the late 1800s (van Gogh) to contemporary. The free tours are great.
A must visit with great special events
Great gallery that offers free admission sometimes. They also throw concerts too
Part of the first free Friday. Lovely set up, spacious, quiet, great variety of art.
Love the A-K! Their collection is superb. We saw the Matisse collection. The Art of Architecture was well curated.
It is great to see the temporary/traveling exhibits that are always being brought in. Out family loved Anthony McCall's "Dark Room, Solid Light.". Go Albright-Knox!!!
One of the most beautiful art galleries I have ever been to! This place has some really good stuff. Should check it out if you're in Buffalo!
Great place to walk and enjoy the displays
The current exhibit, Anthony McCall: Dark Rooms, Solid Light, is excellent. Going into some of the cones of light convey a feeling of being transported into a different dimension. Very cool. Museum staff are all friendly and helpful. Exhibit also works well for anyone needing a wheelchair for access (which are available at no charge at the museum).
Enjoyed the art work and the classic building itself. Been coming to the gallery for over 50 years.
The art is very unique.
Incredible collection. Clean and quiet.
Best place to view in the city
STOP THE ART..... STOP IT NOW This is another building where you are walking around Delaware park and you think you are in the Roman Empire. It is just too fancy! Why not spice the place up a bit. Why not paint it hot pink? Why not turn the place into a massive club with wild lights, dance music and karaoke? We do not need art! Art does not do anything for anyone! Artists should be spending their time PRODUCING! She should use all of that creative energy to devise ways of making burgers and fries more cheaply, cars with more efficient engines and passenger planes with more leg room. STOP THE ART.... STOP IT NOW
Getting ready to close for a 2 yr remodeling project. Reception desk person told grrrrrrr8 stories about Seymour Knox very interesting and informative prompted by Andy Warhol painting near the entrance.
Exquisite. A gem that doesn't wear you out. World class collection. Serene cafe.
A lot of interesting things to see with changing exhibits. Don't forget your student id to get that discount price for admission.
Hidden gem, well worth a visit.
Funky and different! One of my faves!
Nice restaurant. Pricey but tasty
Not a very big place. I went through it in about an hour. There are plans to expand, however.
It’s really beautiful art and galleries
The Albright Knox boasts a huge, rotating collection of art in a beautiful building. Low prices for entry and friendly staff make a museum visit perfect for a Rainier/snowier day. Cafe prices are a bit restrictive, but free lockers and the size of the gallery make up for this.
I visited between exhibits. Small, but I loved the permanent collection. YMMV based on art preferences. Smaller gallery with quality pieces - a nice way to spend an hour or two without being overwhelmed or feeling pressured to see it all.
Great modern art, regularly rotating exhibits and clean and impressive exhibitions.
We went on free first Friday of the month and also enjoyed this cool exhibit involving light. We visited around 9pm, we were just passing by the city and were pleasantly impressed.
Unexpected coolness outside. Neat outdoor art pieces and a beautiful body of water to walk by.
Excellent gallery usually with a traveling exhibit. Took my nephew for company family day and even at one year old he loved it. Staff are very friendly. A must see if you're traveling from out of town.
A local favorite - there are times during the month when attendance is free, but I would recommend paying the fee to at least check out the bottom floor.
Pros: The Albright Knox is wonderful venue that offers fine dining, live music, cultural events and a shifting array of art exhibits. Admission discounts are available for students and these even apply to some of the concerts/events that take place in the museum. The museum is also free on the first Friday of every month. In fact, I had a birthday celebration on the first Friday of March and I was able to have a free admission, a great meal, and see a free Bollywood dance performance in the upstairs auditorium. It is definitely a cultural institution worth maintaining. Cons: Parking availability can be limited if events are happening at the Albright Knox, especially since their parking lot is small. Recommendations: Check out the museum on the first Friday of the month if you are unsure about paying for it. Also, check out their event calendar on their website to find out about some affordable music/cultural events. Lastly, if you cannot find parking at the gallery then consider searching for it on the Buff State campus. I usually take advantage of the parking lot for Burchfield Penny museum.
Have you seen my dog?
I feel like the art they display here isnt very modern. The people that run this gallery need to take a trip to NYC. Stop displaying garbage art.
My favorite place to be- the exhibitions, the events, the food, the wine, everything and anything. We’ve been members for years and we enjoy it so much! I also have to add, I am obsessed with scenic photography and this place is a sight to see during a sunset. My two all time favorite photos I’ve taken are at the Albright.
World class museum, and an excellent one to have in one's hometown. There are always a couple special exhibits to see, and the museums collection is always being circulated so that something is new even if you go every month. Interesting outside sculpture, and the museum borders a lake of Delaware park which adds variety to a visit. Colorful accessible art appeals to all ages. The cafe is very good. Last night we attended a music and dance performance in the auditorium and I had forgotten how spectacular that can be as the sunsets through the floor to ceiling side walls.
I used to come here all the time with my daughter. I went last Friday and it was closed. I must have gotten the Friday for free admission wrong but I wasn't expecting that it would be completely closed on a Friday evening.
An amazing gallery. Beautiful location, easy to get to, readily accessed parking. The collection of art within is spectacular & beautifully displayed. Our lunch in the cafe was excellent and very reasonably priced. Even the prices in the gift shop were reasonable! We really enjoyed our day and will definitely be back. Buffalo has so much going on these days. What a great city.
This is a world-class museum. It's worth a visit all on its own if you happen to be in western New York. The breadth and quality of their collection is overwhelming.
Amazing aesthetic for pics, videos, the outside is FREE! And full of many scenic points. One of my favorite places in Buffalo.
Cool art gallery space, and the park around it is beautiful (thanks, Mr. Olmsted)... but modern art is SO WEIRD. Like, I took art history in college, and I still can't get behind it. It can be super pretentious - like "you don't understand the complex aesthetic of a piece of yarn attached to the floor and ceiling in a right angle... you just aren't 'cultured' enough." Nope, nope, nope... that kind of art may take imagination, but it's not "art" in my book.
Super duper cool and the staff was amazingly nice and helpful.
It's one of the must visit museum if you are into modern arts. Few of the artifacts are mesmerizing especially the morgenthau plan painting. I attended the museum when they were having $5 for the family. They have it one day Every month …
As usual had a wonderful experience. It was discounted admission for the family. Kids enjoyed making art. Spouse enjoyed his first visit. Incredible iconic pieces. Museum personnel was very friendly, even with my very loud toddler. Would like to see newer exhibits and works more regularly. Parking is difficult. Bathrooms okay for families with young children. Keep littlest ones in strollers. One elevator next to gift shop. Most of museum is accessible. Recommend every art lover visit with their family soon. Families can look out for First Fridays for activities for children. Playground behind museum, across street for afterwards.
It was a very amazing experience my crew and myself from Maureens flower shop decorated 4 pillars their yesterday for a nice event they had yesterday their for those people's who support the Albright Knox art gallery!
I love this museum. The permanent collection is really nice and they usually get some wonderful travelling collections throughout the year. It's a spacious museum that isn't too overwhelming. You could spend an hour or half a day here depending on how quickly you want to look at all the pieces. The Albright Knox is a must see for any local Buffalonian or visitor to the area!
Nice outdoors place, okay for canoe and fishing.
Awesome experience for a long time buffalo native who needed something new. Definitely fun for photos.
It's a nice clean gallery with lots of great works, definitely worth a look.
Best place in Buffalo to look at art! They always have rotating exhibits so you can keep going back and seeing all offering kinds of artwork.
I brought my sister and her two girls to the Albright Knox for the art activity on "First Friday". They are from out of town and really enjoyed it. It is so great for Albright to open up its doors to non-members once a month. Being a member, I was able to bring them into the current exihibt for free. We enjoyed our morning there.
Premier collection of modern art from the mid-nineteenth century to contemporary.
Went to the Picasso exhibit after nice dinner at Panos, and we really enjoyed the many different abstract paintings from so long ago.
Always a good experience, I cant wait to see what this renovation has in store.
My family truly enjoyed this art gallery. It was such a fun experience!
Beautifu & clean student friendly great place!
Didn't know much about the museum before stopping in, and was quickly impressed. We spent about an hour walking through the exhibits and then another hour walking around outside. There is a parking lot onsite available to patrons with a $4 charge as long as you are going to the museum. I'm assuming the fee is to deter college students from parking there for class.
A mix of classical and modern works
How can you give the Albright Knox anything but 5 stars. Such a treasure.
Beautiful artwork in the gallery. The pictures are well presented and the prices are very reasonable.
Sights and sounds exhibit was pricey but interesting.
Pleasant atmosphere, though not too rich collection
Really a quality over quantity experience! They might have a small collection but every piece is fantastic. Went while they were in between rotating exhibits so it was not as full an experience as it could be, but I was constantly surprised by the big name artists they have as part of their regular collection. If you are a reciprocal member or even just an art lover you owe it to your self to check this gallery out!
Great variety of artists are shown. Very affordable and family-friendly
Surprisingly diverse collection. The Matisse collection is incredible. Tickets were also fair-price. Easily accessible by public transit
Beautiful gallery. Superb selection of modern and contemporary art.
Didn't go into the museum - was there for Rockin The Knox 2018 featuring Beck. Was a fun show despite the rain. Previously I have visited the grounds of the museum which has such cool sculptures to behold. Soon I hope to visit the inside of the museum to see what it's like.
It was free admission so I took my kids. It wasn't bad I guess I'm not into art.
Love Albright-knox. Always something new to discover.
This was amazing. Went for first Friday and saw really beautiful and thought provoking pieces. The staff and docents were really great and they showed/ told us about interesting details of the art. There was live music and all kinds of stuff going on. I plan on going to the next first Friday as I didn't see everything and I also want to check out the drop in art activities. I could come here over and over and find something new and beautiful each time.
I love this gallery. It’s serene and lovely. Their permanent collection is intriguing. You can always see Pollock, De Kooning, Matisse and Van Gogh on view.
Took a class of eager students there for a field trip. They took them around and looked at 5 paintings. The kids left with no real experience of what an art museum is. Would not recommend it for any field trips.
Such a beautiful museum. Very interesting pieces of art. The day I went I didn't know it was their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The admission was pay what you choose. They sang carols and we sang along and it was actually really …
Wonderful spread of styles. The perfect size for a quick afternoon trip. My wife and I spent about an hour and a half here feasting our eyes only on the pieces that piqued our interest. Shark Girl was the featured collection and was great!
A beautiful gallery with a stunningly gorgeous collection. The historic importance and contemporary relevance should not be glossed.
⭐ students $8/each w ID. ♿Fully wheelchair accessible. The 6th gallery of its kind established in the country-- it's been around longer than Canada's been a thing~???? Intimate, modern gallery space with a café, auditorium, and giftshop. The collection is small, but has some great pieces! The outdoor sculptures and space are well maintained. The temporary exhibit about Drexler, a Warhol contemporary, was extensive, and Gretchen was excited to tell us about it.
Great place
Best experience learned so much and really inspired me to try new styles of art and maybe even create my own way of art hope to go again
Friendly staff every where...Upon entrance, in gift shop, in cafe, in exhibit rooms. Wonderful experience visiting.
I mean... It's the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Not much to explain here. Great art, appropriately lit and hung. Plaques for some general details for each piece. Beautiful place. And just outside is a great park (Delaware Park) with a wonderful rose garden.
One of America's great contemporary art museums. Many famous paintings in the collection.
Wonderful gallery, and the docents are extremely kind and welcoming.
Great gallery, not so big but still nice and full of great installments from different artists. Good place for people that wants to enjoy some art.
Amazing place great food first Fridays are perfect for a date
If art is your thing then you found the best place in Buffalo to experience it! Admission to the main collection is free the first Friday of the month as well!
Went to their reconstruction pop-up location, very clean friendly staff. The actual museum on elm is currently under reconstruction but cannot wait to go there soon .
I'm a professional photographer Who also happens to have seven children so I have utilized Albright Knox Art Gallery many times for prom pictures and senior pictures. Hoyt Lake is the perfect backdrop while the air gallery itself is just a iconic edifice in the Buffalo area. A lot of history behind this place!
Really fun spot for a date night, especially when they have live jazz music and happy hour specials at the cafe
Didn’t really satisfy with the exhibited work here except the sound making chair and the neon frame. Unique architectures in the front and back of the buildings. At least they have special price for college students. Good view for a wedding theme!!
Buffalo's crown jewel of an art gallery, super mid-century collection with pieces from many of the great modern artists and some contemporary work. Worth a visit any time.
Nice collection of new fine art.
They're fine. Their hours are a bit weird though.
Awesome art! I usually don't like more modern art that much but the pieces they have here really resonated.
Should be amazing in 2021 when it reopens
Great collection. Nice staff.
They have a small but beautiful collection
A world-renowned gem here in Buffalo. Magnificent modern art, the First Friday of every month is free admission thanks to M&T Bank's sponsorship. There are many other genres besides modern, although they're being phased out. They have great special events (the Picasso exhibit is wonderful and so informative!). Membership is not expensive... Any visit to Buffalo should include a visit here!
What a great place inside and out!! I have taken family photos outside with the art gallery as background and the photos came out amazing! I have seen couples use this place for wedding photos too. Inside there is up and downstairs filled with amazing visual delight!!! There is something for everyone, child to adult! The museum is free every first Friday and discount family day on Sunday.
Extremly good collection of art and knowledgeable staff.
Beautiful surroundings and a great Place to visit. I would recommend for anyone to visit at least once
Non ho esperienza diretta, ma quella di Amici in Facebook e su Google Art Project. I have no direct experience, but that of friends in Facebook and Google Art Project.
An amazing art museum. Cannot wait for it to reopen with the remodel.
I've grown up going to the gallery and it never ceases to amaze me!!
This gallery has a great perminent collection but when I visited last time they didn't have any of it on display due to a visiting installation that wasn't any good. I might go back again but I would need to double check what art work was going to be on display.
I think the Albright is one of the most important and incredible Modern Art museums in North America. I'm never disappointed with my visits to this World Class Gallery. They have great examples of all the contemporary artists you should know about. They're about to undergo some major transformations/renovations so get there if you can in the fall of 2019 or you'll be waiting a while! The current Anthony McCall installation is incredible!!!
Had an amazing trip here. Started out on the guided tour. We stepped away though because it was informative but very slow moving. I believe it took about an hour and some change till we saw them finishing up. Great little gift shop. Probably my best surprise for my girlfriend ever... Sadly not sure how I'm gonna top it...
Great local resource for cultural exposure.
Collection includes most of the famous artists of the 20th century. Not crowded.
I think it's wonderful that they have first night to give us art buffs a chance to experience great displays of art.
One of most overall beautiful elements of Elmwood and Buffalo in General. The park being right there and the parkways it's all quite lovely. Only have been inside three of four times but every time was pretty cool. Would definitely recommend as a staple attraction for visitors.
We are so fortunate in WNY to have such a wonderful gallery here. The exhibits are varied and always interesting. As a member, I can enjoy many special events. First Fridays are free for all and offer activities for all ages. The restaurant and gift shop are small but enjoyable.
There were only a few exhibits open when we went. I am however very excited for 2020.
The Albright-Knox prides itself on being up-to-date in acquiring contemporary pieces. It is home to many famous works of art from well-known names, such as Picasso, Van Gogh, Degas, Monet, Mondrian, Rothko, Pollack, and Kusama, just to name a few. Only 1/3 of all of its collections is exhibited at any given time, but there are always new interesting curated exhibitions being put together. Great place for first dates, friend reunions, field trips, family funday, or just me-time. There is a nice cafe that sometimes has live music. Their gift shop has a great selection of stationery, art prints, jewelry, and odd knick knacks. The grounds outside the museum also has many interesting sculptures and installations. You can meander around to admire them and then walk across the back of the museum and enjoy Hoyt Lake.
World class art museum. Visited Buffalo from Louisiana mainly to visit the Albright-Knox.
There is a nice collection of art here. The museum appears bigger than it is which was fine with me because it wasn't to overwhelming. There is a rotating collection upstairs, always something new to see. And first Friday of every month is free!
Nice museum... Not too big to see in an afternoon.
Very nice museum and easy to get to with plenty of parking. Lots of open space to walk around and view the installations. The staff are very friendly and the gift shop has some nice things as well.
Had a gallery talk on the drawing exhibit. Renewed my membership - a senior membership w/20% discount for M&T First Friday!
What a great place inside and out!! One of the best art galleries of impressionist 60's and 70's paintings.Good collections.Wonderful museum, such a variety of exhibitions! Really well kept up place. Love the art and exhibits.
Always love this well curated smaller collection. Such a treasure for Western NY and the world!
Arguably the best art museum in the area.
Best if you take a docent led tour.
Good Museum!
Great stop to play pokemon go an enojy the fine arts at the same time
Fun place to go of you are into art.
It's no Louvre but it's still pretty great. WONDERFUL people, extremely friendly and welcoming, and eager to answer questions.
Although I’m the one who doesn’t love museums but I loved this it was cool
Not terribly big selection but worth going at least once.
Some world-class pieces of art that you might not expect to be in a city this size. A must-see if you are in Buffalo.
It is a very nice museum with a wide variety of different types of art. Some of the pieces were very cool.
The upcoming remodeling / two year closing of Albright Knox art gallery this coming November has made the trip less than worth the time. Most of the great works have been packed up in participation leaving a huge part of the gallery with s less than inspirational study of light and dark by Artist (?) Anthony McCall. Called Dark rooms, Solid Light. Way to little in the way of mental/ emotional stimulation. Hopefully better exhibits will show upon the reopening in two to three years.
A wonderful space full of visual discoveries around every corner....
I suggest going in the summer as the outside has so much to offer. Inside is great too. A very nice pollock and some really nice oil paintings. Upstairs is a little extra on first fridays when it’s free to most of the gallery. The best stuff however is upstairs. Mirrored room huge table room. If you enjoy art then it’s cool.
Went there with a church group it was nice the kids really enjoyed it.
Incredible experience. One of my top favorite art museums in the country.
My biggest disappointment is that it took me nearly 20 years to make my first visit to the Albright Knox Art Gallery. The building itself is a work of art and as you enter, the walls tell a story as they hold each work of art with great care. I was in awe as I was walking from piece to piece. Every piece is interesting and beautiful in it's own way. I've learned to appreciate and love art as it's an expression of the artist. Trying to view each piece of art as a vision of the artist was truly enjoyable. I'd urge everyone to visit at least once. I simply cannot wait to go back.
There were 2 traveling exhibits being hosted when we went. One was Rosalyn Drexler and the other was Matt Hoyt. There were a few pieces of Ms. Drexler's that caught my attention, but most of it was not very compelling. Mr. Hoyt's work, hundreds of tiny beige sculptures meant to evoke the thought that maybe they were bones, was absolutely boring. The museum did have some really fun modern art and something called "Project Sunshine" which was more a history lesson for me since I am not from here. Long and short of it is just suck it up and drive an hour to the MAG in Rochester for a way more memorable day.
This is a really great art gallery with a good range of artists and periods represented.
Awesome time
The old televisions they use for displays emit an awful high pitched noise. My son was crying by the time we left.
absolutely incredible collection, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff, they collect work from living artists - like they actually buy and commission work directly from the artists! an excellent gallery space. highly recommend!
Not a very diverse art gallery, not too much diversity in media. Lots of paintings, a few sculptures. We had to pay extra to go upstairs for an artists’ exhibition but was very disappointed, it was the same stuff being shown over and over up there. You can get through it quickly even with reading all of the placards. They have M&T first fridays though which means everyone gets in free (and free parking) on the first Friday of each month, so maybe go check it out on those days
This is a must when in Buffalo! Rarely do you get to experience such a diverse collection with no lines and waits like in museums in larger cities. If it’s within your means become a member and enjoy amazing benefits, including reciprocal free entries to over 800 museums in North America. Love love love this place!
Love the traveling exhibits that come through and make this a new adventure each time we go.
Love this Art Gallery. Great holdings of Abstract Expressionism Art, interesting Exhibitions, just couple of hours drive from Toronto. Beautiful sculptures all around. If you love Art, please visit it - it needs your support.
It's a great asset to the arts.
Great place IF you enjoy MODERN art..m
Don't get me wrong the place was amazing but there was a very racist security guard that kept following me and my husband around all the while telling me not to touch anything because they are very expensive meanwhile a white woman and her daughter who couldn't be more than 4 years old and was dragging herself along the wall under the same art heard nothing from this woman.
Great museum. First Friday of the month is free which is great because the installations are constantly changing
This is an excellent gallery. Small but the collection is excellent.
First fridays...it is great to get the kids out to see art and get inspired.
Great collection, plus the Shark Girl exhibit was brilliant
I don’t know how it usually is but if they have incredible exhibits like this light exhibit, I will come for every single one of them.
Had a great time!
Impressive permanent collection! Friendly staff.
First Fridays of the month are free admission and free parking which is really nice. Staff is always very friendly and the exhibits are interesting and well kept
Wonderful museum in Buffalo, NY. Happen to be there for the Pablo Picasso display and it was amazing! A must see if you are in Buffalo! Thanks to Anita Johnson (Auntie) for the personal tour.
The gallery is not open on Elmwood at this time. We are currently building a new out building!
Support the arts
Have been going for years, being a buffalo native. A great place to take out of town visitors, wonderful exhibits and much more.
It has a smaller collection of artworks, but none the less the facility is wonderful
Great buildings and grounds in addition to the World class art.
Small but mighty museum Must pay to park and admission charge, but might be worth the cost to those who love American modern art
This is a must see art experience! First Fridays of every month are FREE! There are kid friendly activities as well. Buffalo, NY is so lucky to host this world class Art Museum!
Wonderful experience, can't wait to come back after the remodel. It's always been a wonderful place to visit.
Great place to go to look at art! It's a traditional type of museum with older and newer art styles. There is also usually a gallery upstairs that changes ever few weeks.
I think they sold off all the really nice classics...
I've never liked art, but it's a nice place, just not so good art, but I don't blame them for that.
Brilliantly curated art gallery. The curator has a sense of humor. Many artists you know and others you will discover. Be sure to peruse the inside and outside of the museum.
I find myself coming here a couple times a year and it's a new experience every time.
Awesome wayto spend an afternoon. The permanent collection is solid and diverse. The temporary exhibit at the time was absolutely amazing! Very interactive and engaged all the senses. Really great experience all around.
Great art and not very crowded, definetly a worthy place to see Warhol, Matisse and more!
One of the landmarks in Buffalo, where truly arts and history are shown in here.. They have different installations each time I visit and I love the M&T First Friday event as it makes the admission fee close to being 'free'! Definitely recommended to spend a night out and just enjoy what you see.
I brought your sister on a date here once. She didn't appreciate or understand anything she saw during the visit. She kept asking me if we can leave so we can get Mighty Taco... Can't take your sister anywhere.
This place was the best for me because I haven't had the right time to relax in two years becasue of school and home work. I THANK THE MUSEUM SO MUCH. I appreciate what the people and the Museum did for me. And this MUSEUM was the first one that I have ever went to in my life. ????????????????????????????????
They've got a great exhibit right now featuring the work of many black women artists. The staff was super helpful and informative about the artists and the situations they worked in. The work itself, and the narrative that the exhibit creates around it is very poignant to many current events. Highly recommend.
A great museum with many different events happening throughout the year.
A true gem of a cultural attraction in Buffalo. We are blessed with one of the greatest collections of modern and contemporary art in the world. The leadership and advances in the past 5 years are of global importance to the art community. …
Small and too much emphasis on very modern art
A phenomanal location to visit with an exquisite collection of contemporary art. The location is very well maintained and there are a large amount of pieces from various artist, ranging from Pablo Picasso to Jackson Polluck. The building itself is nicely designed and has plenty of natural lighting as well as multiple lathe sculptures surrounding it. Overall, the experience of visiting this location is well worth the price and I highly recommend going there.
A surprising little gem in Buffalo. The regular collection is quite good and they get really exceptional visiting exhibits. I am really happy to have the Albright-Knox so close to home.
Staff very helpful Since they are getting ready for a major reconstruction job, most of collection is not available . The cafe is delightful. No cafeteria here. A real sit down venue with great service and food.
I love this gallery! So affordable and easily accessible.
They have some masterpieces from well-known artist. However, the toilet is very stink.
The museum is in construction prep mode. A selection of paintings - excellent ones - are hung in a series of corridors. Where the noise echoes from one end to the other. Some of the more iconic paintings are to be found as posters in a desultory display in the shop.
The art was extremely modern. There were about 20-30 old art paintings, but those were nice. The staff was rude when asking questions about where the exhibits were. The only art I actually enjoyed the most was the ones for sale in the gift shop! Very dissapointing... Would not recommend
Very good art museum and a good date place
Pretty nice place. It's free on the first Friday of every month which is great. They have some good paintings
An impressive collection of art. We went on Museum Day and admission was half off — otherwise it is pricey. Easy to park and nice park surrounding.
This is a must if you visit Buffalo. Picasso Dali Pollock along with constantly updating and bringing in new artists and exhibits. This is an absolute treasure of Buffalo that must be visited. The grounds themselves and Delaware Park behind it along with Hoyt Lake add to the specialness of this beloved place.
After driving to Buffalo from Toronto, we were very disappointed that there main pieces were on tour. We were not told this at the admission desk. They seemed not to care and were not helpful and merely offered the idea that I should return to the museum when the collection is intact again . Further, they have not responded to an email I sent them describing my experience.
Albright-Knox has been on my short list for Buffalo for years. The collection includes exceptional examines of abstract art, conceptual art and impressionist art. The masterpieces are given plenty of breathing room, too. Picasso's favors La Toilette might be the epitome of the collection but not the only major example of his age. The Van Gogh painting of the mill has an equal claim to fame.
could use more local artists work
Great. As expected. Only downside is they're expanding/renovating, so most of their permanent collection has been put away from public eyes. Too bad. However, the current show Dark Rooms, Solid Light is fantastic. Beaming you to other ethereal realms.
NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. Very aggressive guards criticized how I was carrying my own child. Wonderful art, but leave the kids at home!
A Buffalo cultural institution second to none, hand in hand with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Both the perminant collection and exhibits are always worthy of a trip. Spending a few hours here is easy, and when you're done (if it's summer), take a stroll through nearby Delaware Park or the Elmwood Village.
Excellent experience. Definitely worth the time spent.
First Friday free did not disappoint. Loved the special exhibit by McCall. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Amazing collection of work. And I was able to attend on a First Friday!
Was under construction but has beautiful artwork.
World class art, at very reasonable entry prices.
There was so much to see in this museum. We loved it!
Excellent art gallery. Offering all styles of art in exhibit.
Very helpful staff. They have a parking area, and area for school buses.
Family friendly, educational, and great value with a family membership
I was so impressed by the caliber of the exhibits here. The museum itself is beautiful. The auditorium is the perfect place to see a speaker and the art is magnificent!
Amazing arts displayed inside and outside of the museum. Strongly recommended that you visit. You might just be surprised.
Pretty quick walk through and mostly modern art. Definitely try to go on the days they run specials to save money.
I love the time last year at Albright Knox. Picaso Show
Fun place to go with some truly amazing art
Good small collection on display. Museum will close in November 2019 for a major 2 test renovation and expansion. Then it will be able to show more of it's large collection.
Some great work is here. Staff is helpful and friendly.
Outstanding visit to a unique, enchanting and very stimulating exhibit at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery - Service Animals are welcome to participate in the experience of this gallery's exhibits!
Modern art is fun. Great artist there.
Located in the Albright section of Buffalo, this Art Gallery is a lovely one with it being the 5th oldest museum in the United States. With a variety of art and cool creations, there are paintings, creations, and lots of other stuff, as long as you follow staff instructions and NOT touch anything you will be alright.
The biggest art gallery in Buffalo. Good to visit for the arts and to socialize.
The first Friday of the month is free and the art is amazing.
Could use some work on the building, and first Fridays are insane, but a good thing to have in buffalo. Amazing architecture.
Love art! This place you can learn a lot!
Albright has a diverse array of art with some masterpieces sprinkled in. I very much enjoyed the Foul Play temporary exhibit. The cafe was very accommodating and my waiter made me a hot chocolate despite it not being on the menu. It was very much appreciated.
Museum was interesting but was very small and not many art works were on the display. The light display was interesting and captivated my imagination for a while but there was not much to do here past that.
Love the workers there, so helpful & insightful!
Great Art Gallery. Good arts patterns. Lady at front desk was not friendly. Security guards are aggressive towards visitors.
Excellent pieces and great exhibit- Black Radical Women.
I made a special trip to see the Humble and Human Exhibit today. I was so excited to be able to see this collection. I greatly enjoyed this experience.
Free first fridays are awesome! Every first friday of the month its free to go to art museum..barely anything is free nowadays
Great space and amazing collection. Auditorium available. Sculptures on the grounds are wonderful.
Great tours and atmosphere! Highly recommend!
Not a large collection on display, but a decent collection from major players in the art world. The building is easy to get around and the outside has also a small collection of modern sculpture. Adjacent to the museum is a small lake and garden grounds that offers a nice walk.
I took my daughter to the first Wednesday of the month stroller tour. It was very well curated and created a relaxing experience for parents to bring their little ones to a museum. It's also a good way to meet other parents! If you're bringing a diaper bag, I suggest finding a way to secure it to your stroller, otherwise, you will be asked to leave it in a complimentary locker.
The Albright-Knox Art Gallery is an extremely impressive and picturesque building, with many sculptures found on its lawn. The Greco-Roman architecture with its columns and terraced steps makes it for sure a recognizable Buffalo landmark. Their collection is extensive and diverse which includes many different styles of art and sculpture. However, at any given time what is on display is extremely limited due to the small interior space. It is nearly impossible to spend more than two hours here, especially since the quality and size of exhibits varies greatly. Hopefully the upcoming expansion will change this, but currently it really isn't worth it to visit too often.
This is a wonderful gallery. There is always an interesting show for different tastes in art. It's not a bad drive from Toronto & esp from Niagara Falls it's just a short one. The area around the gallery is great too with cafes & restaurants not far in Elmwood Village & Delaware Park right across. Worth the drive!!
Always well organized with first Friday events and very welcoming for all ages
Spectacular museum with a beautiful addition by Gordon Bunshaft. Hope to see it again and that the new addition compliments the existing building.
I love this musesum, free every first Friday, I'd love to see more diversity .
Great rotating exhibits and great service with people who are passionately committed to art! The museum is just the right size, so that it's not overwhelming!
Such a beautiful place, truly a gem in the City of Buffalo. The place was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful, even walking around outdoors was a really romantic experience. Cannot wait to see what the renovations bring once they re-open and hope to see their live music shows next summer!
I really enjoyed my time here. I just wish there were more exhibits to see. Unfortunately for us, the weather didn't cooperate, so we missed out on the sculpture garden.
The Allbright-Knox is a world class museum of modern and contemporary art whose expertly curated collection and special exhibits are displayed in galleries that are spacious yet intimate. The museum is located next to Delaware Park in Buffalo, NY designed by Olmstead and Veaux in 1868. Beautiful. Friendly. Accessible. Go!
Beautiful area & exhibits. Ample parking. They do offer various classes too for families. Price is reasonable though gift shop is a little pricey. Dinner isn't very open as long as the gallery though. Like to walk in Delaware park after seeing exhibits some exhibits are outside like the glass tree stump.
Albright-knox Art Gallery is a Beautiful building containing beautiful artwork surrounded by beautiful Delaware Park just an all-around relaxing day
One of my favorite places in Buffalo. World-class gallery without the high admission prices
Nice musuem with a nice layout. And good amount from different periods and artists.
We love a good Art Museum, and the Allbright-Knox Is full of wonder.
Really good museum. Great art. I Go several times a year.
Beautiful art and it you live in ths local area they have days you can get in for free!
I wish my experience matched the potential atmosphere. They do have some lovely pieces. However, the staff ruins it. A bunch of pretentious old farts who obviously need to take a class on how to treat paying customers. They follow you around like it's a precious gem store and you have criminal written on your forehead. Made for a less than ideal trip. Security kept reminding us not to touch anything...We are not children, we understand how this works, thanks. In my few trips, frigid old ladies at the front desk were a pain to deal with and seemed unhappy to be there. Find another job?? I'm sure there are people who'd love to be around art. Something is always closed down so you really don't even get the full experience. The art is usually always good though, just need to fix their staff issues.
First-Class Museum on par with MOMA This museum has an amazing collection, an expert staff and the feel of a cozy private gallery. Ask about any piece and you'll get a history of its provenance. A destination, must-visit for art lovers in the area! To those complaining about the parking and entrance fees -- sorry but great art is costly to acquire and maintain. Go visit comparable museums in NY, Chicago, LA, London and Paris. This one's ruly a bargain. Regarding pieces not on display -- they have a rotation schedule. Call to find when they'll have the Modigliani's, Matisse's etc. They were there when we visited a few weeks ago.
We wanted to visit before they close in November for their huge renovation. A little disappointed that sectors were already closed
One of the best Art galleries in this area, hosting paintings from all around the world!!!
Beautiful sculptures and abstract paintings
Very friendly staff and affordable family events
I was expecting alot more. Most rooms were empty and the rest contain lack of talent painting. Honestly they need to step it up . Saw some cool art tho
Good mix of art from various types. Historic building.
Really beautiful inside and free entry the first Friday of the month! Love it!
A great museum with a rich collection organized in a tremendous manner. Can be completed entirely in a few hours, depending on your speed in museums, and is a great spot for indoor activities or if you’re just looking for something to do.
Great time. Young or old, this is the place to be the first Friday of the month. Something for everyone!
Worthwhile, small and easy to find and walk around
My first visit, great art museum. Inspires me to take a course in Modern Art.
Very nice staff, but there's just not a whole lot to see with part of the gallery closed. Walked the whole gallery in about 30 mins.
World class art museum and extensive modern art collection featuring many well known mid century and modern artists. A must see.
Beautiful collection of classic and modern
Always love coming here. Enjoy seeing everything new and the classics.
Very nice art gallery located in Delaware park. Great location. Check out their schedule of exhibits and stuff for children.
Came here unexpectedly and found out that Takashi Murakami had an exhibit here, as well as other artists who had some interesting installations on display. I think coming here with no expectations allowed me to enjoy it a lot better than having assumptions based on what I wanted to see. I definitely loved the Murakami murals, among other things and found the mirror installation, the larger than life objects and beaded wall dividers were some of my favourites. Pretty blown away by some of the projects they had up in here for sure and wouldn't mind coming here again.
Albright offers a fantastic collection. First Fridays are free but a membership is great. It makes for a great Sunday when the jazz series starts.
This is a wonderful place to go if you are looking for something to do
A stellar modern art collection.
One of Buffalo's greatest landmarks and now used to host popular music events.
Local cultural treasure. On the first Friday of every month—from 10 am to 10 pm—admission to part of the museum and select events are free for everyone. Even if go other days, it's a bargain at $12 for adults. Not to be missed.
Very interactive. It has a bees wax room where its a giant block of bees wax and a tea tasting tent. Definitely seems more welcoming and appealing then a few years ago
As a Buffalo native, I've been here dozens of times. I love how it never seems to be the same displays every time I go. Definitely check to see what kind of admissions specials are available, because this can be a very cheap and wonderful date!
Fun took my grand kids their the boys had fun.
Great art installations!
Frist friday of the month free, A wonderful place to remove the cobwebs of your mind.
Not much to see and security follows you around like you are up to no good. Wouldn't recommend.
Really cool Art Gallery! You can find works by Jackson Pollock, Henri Matisse and Picasso! Some cool interactive art exhibits as well!
Very very impressive. You all should be proud to have in the city .
They have beautiful art works and inspiring exhibits. Their gift store is full of really cool unusual things! It's a great time!
Amazing painting and modern art floor is breaking so that could be dangerous
Had the most wonderful, delicious lunch at the AK gallery. Art work wasn't bad either
I only get here once every few years, but this is one of my favourite two or three galleries anywhere. Such variety, great innovative work, solid modern and contemporary classics and daring, relevant new work. I wish I'd gotten the name of the woman who greeted us and sold us our tickets: so helpful, interested, enthusiastic, and seemed so delighted after we'd finished our two-hour walk around the gallery and told her how much we loved it. Other staff seemed nice too, though the security staff was a bit dour, but perhaps it's their job to be a little unpleasant and intimidating. The special exhibitions were challenging and exciting; great to see the Sol De Witt stairwell walls complete with their intricate pencil drawings.
Surprising collection of art. Worth a trip.
Is a nice art gallery!
A chance to view works by some of the world's greatest artists.
This place is a hidden jewel. It's not large but has very impressive collection. Some paintings from their collection would make an honor to a major gallery in a capital city. Salvador Dali, Picasso and more. Definitely worth of visiting if you are an art lover.
The tour guides are amazing, and the art is wonderful. It's exciting to interpret art how you'd like
It was great. Everything had a story.
Run the steps feel like rocky
The Albright Knox is an excellent place to take some friends when you want to see some cool modern art. There are new exhibits fairly frequently and if you go on the first Friday of every month, admission is free!
So many contemporary art collections in this Gallery! I was truly inspired, and the current video art exhibit is eye-opening and provocative. It took me 2 hours to walk around and also bought a souvenir from the gift shop.
The art was amazing and the story's behind the pieces of art is just awesome!????
21st class MOMA. Wonderful art and wonderful shows. Great for all.
Great and ever changing displays. The installations are available for a small donation on first Friday, but worth the rate for any time otherwise.
Awesome experience went with a group to creative connections.
Love it csn't wait til it opens
Great museum, only saw a fraction of the collections because of a remodel.
Great idea to do meditation class in gallery. New perspective!
Beautiful architecture with spacious grounds to walk.
Any day is a good day to visit the Albright- Knox Art Gallery as there is something of interest for all ages available here. The best part of the gallery is it is so diverse in the different forms, textures, history and sometimes sounds of the pieces on display. You can spend as little or as much time as you want in the different display areas and they provide guides if you do have questions. We wrapped up our visit at the fascinating and diverse gift shop buying some unique items for our homes. The gallery was a wonderful relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere to immerse yourself in!
Excellent gallery, beautiful grounds, and so much more to offer.
The museum's collection of artwork was great but they had the absolute worst lighting I have EVER seen in a museum. It was hard to see the artwork in certain areas because the lighting was so yellow it altered the look of the artwork. Very poor quality for a museum with as many good works as this one.
The displays constantly change and are just as engaging as the time before. Always something new to see and interact.
First visit! Will go again! Loved the "We Want ed A Revolution" exhibit. Very busy, lots of people the day I went. They also have a dining area inside.
Clean and beautiful but under construction
We went into the gallery when we were at Rocking at the Knox, it was beautiful, clean, friendly. A great place to visit. ????
There are many paintings/works of art here. They keep changing what you can see and a new building is in the works. Tours are free with admission. Our docent was VERY knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He got us to look and dissect the art works, not just tell us about the history. Although I don't particularly care for modern art, it was a nice trip. There is everything from classical to contemporary here. There are many big name artists here to see. There is also a sitdown restaurant here which was nice for a quick glass of champagne before checking out more art.
Lots of art. All kinds of styles. A lot of art that forced me to think and other art that I enjoyed just looking at.
The Impressionism exhibition is magnificent and the collection of the gallery is extremely interesting
Really beautiful work and a treasure to have in Buffalo.
Neice had a piece in there for school they let 11 of us in for free tovswe it she is 8 and amazed by it all
Absolutely love going to the Albright-Knox for their new art installations. I highly recommend going there with family, friends or eveb just yo walk around on your own. Its a beautiful building with amazing art.
Wow, what a wonderful collection of ART. Make sure you check out every corner, upstairs and downstairs areas. We also had a really tasty lunch at the cafe located in the Museum.
Best concert and gourmet food ever!
Interesting, offbeat display of modern art by refugees. Thought provoking.
Every time I visit The Albright-Knox Gallery, it makes me appreciate these Rust Belt Gems! The Greek Revival architecture by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill reminds me of the Toledo Museum of Art (another must see). A wide survey of artistic masterpieces especially: Gaugin's "The Yellow Christ," Balla's "Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash," and Pollack's "Convergence," to name a few. Everyone will find art that they will fall in love with time and again. Chihuly had a wintertime exhibition of glasswork in the outdoor courtyard years ago and on my last visit Scribbles #1268 by Sol LeWitt was being installed on the staircase, so wow! The dining room is a nice place to stop to relax during your visit. Thank you Seymour Knox.
it is exactly what it should be. if you can learn to enjoy places like this once in a while, you'll be better for it
Grew up visiting this place when it was a free place to visit when my parents took us for a ride on Sunday. It's also next door to The Historical society. Another free place to get "culture'. Actually took painting classes there when I was 12!
The new edition is going to be amazing
They have some good pieces by some famous painters. Picasso, Frida. When I was there, I also saw the Anthony McCall exhibit "Dark Rooms, Solid Lights." It was set up in the entirety of their older, classically built section. They took full advantage of the space to present a truly captivating experience. They are about to undergo some major renovations so I felt like it was missing some things. But I'd be interested to see it when the renovations are complete.
Good but tickets and parking are pricey. Don't forget to visit free buffalo history museum near by...
Very interesting exhibits some creative modern art
Great collection of modern art. Museum had strong need for additional space. Not excited about the proposed addition, which obliterates the 1962 Gordon Bunschaft addition.
Amazing place to visit. You will not regret it.
Really cool place to spend the day! Just some of the art there below
The museum is great! Small and not overwhelming but with excellent, select pieces with great consistantly readable commentary. Family Sundays at $5 for the group you're bringing in make it easy to do. Excellent food, service, decor at reasonable prices.
The grounds alone, have stunning artwork. It's also a very popular spot for wedding pictures and Pokemon hunters!
Maybe 8 wonderful abstract expressionist paintings were on display. Most of the rest was put away for exhibits that didn't interest us much.
Staff is very rude, the security there watches you like you did something wrong. And it is super expensive for what they have their to see and do.
I went on First Friday and they asked was I here for that I said yes. They didn't explain that we could not go into the Picasso Exhibit unless we paid. Had they explained that I would have purchased tickets. Then throughout the night I really felt extremely out of place here. It was "stalkish! With guards all over the place anticipating your next ten steps and telling you don't get close... I'm like seriously reading the little information near the painting with 14 pt and I have 20/20 vision... I was only as close as I had to be. I don't think I will return. Sadly...
Great art displays!
Some brilliant art, well worth the visit.
Great experience and knowledge for the taking. I loved that the artworks were from so many different generations.
Nice exhibits, staff is just annoying!
Buffalo's best art gallery. We are looking forward to it's expansion as the exhibits tend to be smaller. Despite the size you cannot beat the content. A must if visiting the area...
One of the best collections of modern art in the country. Dahli, Warhol, Picasso and others all well represented.
Be sure to get upstairs to view Anselm Keifer's work. Stunning.
Great place for a date and some very educational pieces. Missy certainly recommend
Great gallery, friendly staff.
Fun selection of local, modern, classical and contemporary art!
A hidden jewel in the Queen City. Experience some old Masters to Monet, Picasso, Renoir to Pollack and Warhol. Price for admission are fair. A must for you and your family when visiting the Queen City! Beautiful and modern facilities.
I fell in love this gallery! First of all it's a perfect size; not to large or too small, and the lay out on the main floor is mostly a simple loop so the art can be viewed in chronological order without having to navigate through multiple rooms. As I mentioned, it's compact enough to feel you can take your time and absorb the art as you go, rather than feel rushed to see it all in one go. The staff and volunteers are extremely enthusiastic, knowledgeable and, friendly and were more than willing to answer any questions or have a chat without any sense of pretentiousness or arty airs. I was very surprised by the restaurant. Pleasantly, I should add. The pricing is reasonable and the food was fantastic, best burger I've had in a long time, when was the last time you heard someone say that about an art gallery?! Nice selection of wine and local beer too. Service was excellent too. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommended if you're looking for something to do in Buffalo.
A real gem. Great permanent collection.
Went to Rockin' @ the Knox for Beck last year and Death Cab for Cutie this year. Great venue and great gallery. Staff is always helpful.
Worth a pilgrimage. One of the strongest collections of modern and postwar art in the world, and set in the most beautiful grounds. I expect it'll only get better once their new wing for contemporary art is built!
I have visited this museum in the past. My recent visit was in on a Saturday in January 2017 for an exhibit of Picasso and those artists working with him or of the same time period. You don't need to be a contemporary art lover to enjoy your visit here. The museum's houses a collection of fine American and European art. Browse the gift shop and book store and don't miss the chance for a tasty and nearly former lunch at an affordable price. Across the street is The Birchfield-Pennsy museum which should on your list as well.
Very nice! Great for sight seeing and walking around.
Under construction in the original gallery so we spent less than two hours. The pieces that were on exhibition were great including this Pollack
Renavations on goiing. Its good now, but its going to be great when its completed. Got to check out the Dark Rooms, Solid Light exibits going on right now.
First experience ever and it was very nice.
Dark Rooms exhibit was awesome!
Very interesting and unusual exhibits. Well worth a visit.
Beautiful location with stunning works.
Not as much art as I expected and not as much creativity as I hoped for.
Great museum for buffalo. Would go again. Amazing selection of artworks
Good lord, can we please get this construction project to a point where we can have Elmwood Avenue back again?? This single lane causing the daily traffic jam is really getting old. Some of us have work to do.
It's nice but rather small and doesn't change all that much.
Very excited for the new renovations! Light exhibit was very cool. Nice mix of classic paintings and modern art.
Awesome gallery
Beautiful building with a great art collection. Always fun to spend an afternoon here
This is a lovely gallery. They always have great exhibits.
Beautiful place to visit and learn very romantic
Always been a huge fan of albright-knox art gallery. Incredible collection that is always rotated so always seems fresh and new along with some amazing classic standards.
Such an awesome place, especially great on the first Friday of every month when admission is free! During these days the bar/restaurant is a great place to grab a glass of wine and listen to live music. Great start to date night or a night out with the family.
Very relaxing...quiet and peaceful... beautiful work and set up
Karen is the best! The upstairs exhibits were fantastic. Can always learn something new.The Ralph Wilson exhibit, the immigrant and people exhibit all were so engrossing. We stopped for an hour before dinner and stayed 2 1/2 hours and didn't realize where the time went. Super!!
We were on vacation and stopped by to visit the museum. When we got there everything was fenced off closed for construction.
Beautiful sensotory exhibit is up now. You HAVE to experience it for yourself~
Seriously one of the best exhibitions I have seen
Highly recommended! Quite a few true gems of world art.
Great place for modern art as well as classics on display also. They are always changing up exhibits and bringing in new to keep things interesting. Great place to bring the kids, especially on the first Friday of the month is free admition. Art activities for the kids, and adults also.
Stunning. A jewel in Buffalo
Great gallery
Decided to take my niece for a last minute excursion. She had the best time. Once again it lived up to its reputation.
There is no place like this in the world I'm not joking it is art history that is unsurpassed
A must-visit destination in Buffalo, NY. Great collection, and interesting events happening all the time. Don't forget to see the outdoor sculptures and walk the nearby neighborhoods.
Been here a few time, love the pencil artwork on the walls and side of the stairs.
The BEST hidden jewel ....totally fantastic.
Took v. good drawing class. Very friendly.
Pretty diverse collection of master artwork, interesting abstract and sensory pieces, as well as some modern art exhibits upstairs and a fantastic café.
Come view the multiple collections of artworks from artists of all walks of life.
Great art collection! Many samples of Impressionism, Cubism, Abstract, Pop Art and other Modern Art exhibits. The 1905 building itself is a fine architecture sample and the outdoor sculpture gardens round up the visit. There are two free public tours everyday, plus activities for the little ones. Coffee and Gift shops available. Parking space is limited and separate flat fee is required. Overall a very good experience!
Had a wonderful time for first Friday. Ended up renewing my membership for both the art gallery and the burchfield. Music was fun and I ran into a lot of friends. can't wait to go back and check out the arts and do brunch.
Great mixture of cutting edge and classic art. Beautiful surroundings. A Buffalo tradition as well as joyful art rebellion! Prayers.
Such a wonderful place need I say more...
Grew up on this museum and it's collection. One of my favorite art museums.
This Gallery certainly is better than I expected! Definitely check the second floor!
Filled with rich culture and diverse display of art exhibits. Great day activity to do and appreciate.
Such a wonderful museum. It’s not the largest museum as far as collection size but it’s carefully curated collection can compete with any larger institution.
Wonderful afternoon, spent with tons of the great masters!
Staff was very rude to not only me, but other patrons as well. Not great variety in content of art - very modern. Current featured exhibit was underwhelming at best.
I feel so blessed to have such a gem in Buffalo. With ever-changing exhibits upstairs and plenty of discount days it's wonderful to have this cultural masterpiece in our community.
Wonderful collection, free first Fridays
Staff very helpful and friendly
Worst gallery I have ever been to in the world. The elitist and frosty attitude of staff and security is not warranted for such a "ho dunk" gallery.
Nice space, various art pieces from multiple eras. A bit small for my tastes but still a good hour+ of time there.
One of my favorite places that is now closed for 2 years bc of a huge remodel. Can't wait til it opens again.
Was shocked at how much fun it turned out to be. Not being a huge "art guy" I wasn't too sure what I'd think, but the staff were friendly it was very clean with a lot of really cool things, even when some stuff was under construction
I find peace among the art and I also find inspiration for my own art.
There are some wonderful works of art here with two floors. Great sculptures and more of what I consider traditional art upstairs, including some good Van Gogh's. Impressionist and more modern art on the first floor, with a nice gift shop and cafe. I was sad to find out the mirrored room was gone, some cretin apparently broke it.
Great art gallery. Lot to think about
I was just outside this time enjoying the art there... and people watching ????
Excellent art gallery...some exceptional pieces...displayed nicely with descriptions.
Go there for my events nice place
Hidden gem! It has a very good collection of art and regularly changes exhibits. The traveling exhibits are particularly good. There is a huge crowd on the First Fridays of each month (free admission). But it is worth going on regular days, too to avoid the crowd.
A great learning experience and the staff was outstanding!!
Great gallery experience, but many areas are closed
One of the best art galleries of impressionist 60's and 70's paintings. Plus the design and layout of the building is amazing to boot. I love going through all of the art and taking it all in. Not an artsy fartsy critic, just enjoy good stuff that is here. Recommend to anyone who likes seeing big name art without the huge crowds or large gallery layouts. Will go back again and again, a gem in Buffalo, NY
I enjoy the family Fridays but for me alot I this art is modern and/or abstract which is not a fav of mine.
Amazing collection of modern art.
Really well kept up place. Love the art and exhibits. Clean place for a decent price!
Don't recommend with kids. Had a disappointing experience. First docent approached to explain in graphic detail painting about death/hate crime to my (just) 4 year old, ignoring several polite attempts on my part to get her to stop - this alone was enough to sour the experience for me. Then my son approached a sculpture and docent jumped in several seconds after I already had him stepping back (and had immediately physically grabbed him just to be extra sure he couldn't inch any closer). Then we went up front to just return the pencil we'd borrowed for a scavenger hunt only to have another docent agressively yell about the line. I explained I was just looking for a spot to return the pencils. No offer to help. Then the ticket machine in the lot kept asking for payment after we'd paid inside (inserted ticket every which way). Overall the docents were ridiculous and I can't say it was very relaxing or enjoyable. We have to teach kids to enjoy art, but I'll be looking for a more pleasant environment to do so.
Good art museum. Has impressive quality owned pieces and brings in wonderful rotating showings of other prominent international artists.
Beautiful building with many great works. Good food in a nice environment.
Wonderful, but closing next month for a 2 year renovation project.
Amazing! Picasso, dalì, Frida, Matisse! Really amazing for a small city like Buffalo. I highly recommend the visit
Beautiful museum! Haven't seen the whole place but will definitely visit and have a tour as soon as I get hold of the free year round membership, yesss!
