It was a great afternoon looking at the trains. The yard were the trains are is beautiful. They have a toy trains going around the yard. Just a short drive from Sudbury and a great day with the family.

A wonderful display of our railway heritage and a great way to share the history of Capreol and the Sudbury region. This museum should be a model for other communities to consider in telling their stories.

A nice, but small, museum with a collection of engines and trucks. The school truck and the sleepers were the most interesting, but there could be more variety of engines and more about Northern Ontario's history with railroading. The gift shop was very child friendly, but could certainly use more adult-oriented options such as reproductions of maps, model trains of the engines & trucks on hand, and Northern Ontario railroading-focused books. If you're in Sudbury, its worth the drive to the valley to see this museum. Admission price is very reasonable.

My 4 year old son and I spent 3 hours here today. Between the rail yard, the house, and the old fire station, we had a great time! I've lived near Capreol my entire 33 years of existence and this was my first time going. We'll definitely be back! Thanks for the great time. The staff was wonderful!

A northern gem, the Railroad Museum is fun for families and interesting for all ages. The gardens are gorgeous, the playground is fun, and the trains are set up nicely with historic dioramas, plus a fun engine for kids to explore hands-on. Mine loved ringing the bells outside and watching the miniature train. There is a good picnic area and a dining room inside with desserts for sale. The museum exhibits in the house were well done, we didn't take the guided tour but still enjoyed reading about the equipment and area history. The fire station is great too, make sure to ask the attendant for a tour.

Amazing museum! The cottage is quaint and full of fabulous antiques. The rail artifacts engines and box cars are in great shape and displayed in a beautiful outdoor setting. Our guide at the cottage was pleasant and very knowledgeable. Our train guide, Connor, was absolutely brilliant, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic.

The young women that work at this museum were the kindest, super hospitable and accommodating, and well informed. There is so much rich Sudbury history here. I also want to say thank you once more , I have a sister with an intellectual disability and each time she asked a question they (especially Caitlyn I don't know if that's the proper spelling) would do their best to answer her. Thank you for making her feel welcome and normal! ???? By far my favorite place I visited in Sudbury.

Growing up in Capreol, not once did I pay much attention to the old antique trains in 'downtown' Capreol. Sure--I saw them--but I was never curious, nor did I inspect them in detail. Fast-forward thirty years: I've got a little boy now. And if there's one place he definitely loves, it's this place. Thomas & Friends is all the rage now, and Capreol has caught on to this. You can even buy these insanely priced toys in their shop at competitive prices. There's a quaint play area in the old fashioned waiting room, and just outside, a tour of the old coach cars, and an out-door miniature train set. This past year, though, they added a hidden gem under the fire hall: a vast, miniature train set, painted to exquisite detail. This set is every boy's dream: an entire world put on pause while the trains make their way around the copper loops of dreams. If your kid loves trains, this is an inexpensive day in the heart of quaint ol' Capreol.

This place is great! The rail cars and engines they have are restored very well. Love how you can walk around and go inside them to see how things were in the old days. Also my son loved the Thomas the train setup! The gift shop and house are pretty neat too. There is also a small zen garden which has all the plants labelled if you are into that sort of thing. I would recommend for anyone looking for something to do and has an interest in the history of our railways.
