This museum is a gem! It's a must see for music, as well as, design lovers, engineers and architecture buffs alike. We had a wonderful tour in the late afternoon by an enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable guide (ask about the RCA Video disk!). Housed in the old RCA building in the Saint-Henri district the Art Deco edifice is in the process of restoration for the architecture buffs amongst you. If your hungry or thirsty grab a coffee or a bite to eat at the very cool Café Zinzin in the same building. Please donate generously to the museum to help keep this amazing piece of music and engineering history alive. We loved it!

I found a really interesting exhibit of 1960s record players designed and made in Montreal. Interesting format for a museum, just one room, from what I understand it's a passion project of about 50 collectors who pool their materials. A volunteer was there and gave an excellent explanation of the exhibit; without her guidance I would not have found it nearly as interesting because there was very little explanatory text in the exhibition. I was told a larger exhibition would be opening in September and I will definitely go back. Took one star off only because it was confusing to find the entrance and to find the vitrines installed throughout the hallways of the factory building. I think the wayfinding could definitely be made a more important priority.

It's a shame that a location with such a rich history is threatened with a lack of general interest from the population. My experience at this humble museum was incredible. The volunteer that gave my small group a tour is an expert, having worked at RCA in the past. He was thorough in his explanations and showed us some very special areas of this maze-like factory. I implore you to visit the museum and donate generously. Music lovers, engineers, history buffs, or anyone that loves exploring off the beaten path will not regret stopping by for an afternoon full of surprises. Help support this museum in transition so that it can reach its full potential and properly display the treasures within.

(Translated) Small museum The guide is a passionate who knows how to catch your attention. I loved. (Original) Petit musée Le guide est un passionné qui sait capté votre attention. J'ai adoré.

This museum is really impressive. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and they make you discover more of Montreal's musical history. There barely is information on who Emile Berliner is, so this hidden gem is great place to discover his contributions to music. The museum is spread out around the building, so you get to do some exercise. This is a great place for information, librarian, and archival studies' students to come visit as a group tour. Because it is an industrial building, there are bathrooms on every floor.

A very interesting place. Worth a visit. Many interesting facts, so many valuable artefacts from the past. Go visit them, help them survive cause they don't get any help from the government.

Awesome ! The lady was so full of history about the electronic development of Canada. Very detailed and depth. Proud of the amazing Canadian contribution to the world.

If you want obsolete audio technology from the recent and not so recent past, this is the place.

Had the luck of getting a extended visit with one of the members. It's a real treasure trove of history! There's a few small displays through the building that explain the buildings history recording and manufacturing of radio, gramophone and records. Followed by a main exhibit in their office. But the real treasure was the passion and stories the guide and his college had for the history of radio and recordings!

It is an absolute gem of Montreal! Super interesting collection for anyone who is interested in retro tech, audio tech, record players, TVs or the history of Canadian industry. Make sure you call ahead your visit as they may not always be there (it is a volunteer-run museum).

Really really nice place.its not about Canadian radio, but about this particular factory. They have many really old vintage devices, radios and they are still working! An awesome place to show your kids the Netflix and Spotify we had before.

Not your average museum. Housed in Montreal’s RCA building. this sound wave museum has a great history of equipment from radios to record players.

Janine Krieber

Mitchell Hymowitz

The artifacts on display around the building are trivial and the collection of 60-70s hi-fi record players brings back some memories. Together they're not worth the trip BUT the enormous archive of vintage equipment is a must-see for anyone with an appreciation of truly unique audio and radio equipment from the 20s-50s. Call in advance to arrange a tour.

The content of the museum is cool. It's a bit cramped in the main part, and then the rest of it is spread out a lot over all of the floors and most of the hallways. It was difficult to get in because you have to ring them for the door to unlock, like an apartment or office building. It's a nice history lesson and you get a private tour of the main part because no one else is there. It is free, but I would definitely leave a donation.

(Translated) Museum that seems hidden but worth finding! Such an important story, a great pride for Montreal. (Original) Musée qui semble caché mais vaut la peine d'être trouvé! Une histoire tellement importante, une grande fierté pour Montréal.

Went here on the Free Museum Day in Montreal and it was amazing!! Our guide (a German short hair woman) was so knowledgable and passionate. Didn’t expect such a humble museum would be so interesting and we definitely learned quite a lot about the music industry and the history of gramophone :3

(Translated) Former RCA-Victor factory. You can walk freely in the premises. The exhibition located in the reception room is very interesting, for the rest, it is quite difficult to navigate there despite the plan provided at the start. However, it is a truly unique place. If you want to get off the beaten track where tourists abound, this is the place for you!

We visited the museum during the Journées de la Culture. It was amazing :) The museum is rather small, but there are a lot of interesting things inside of it regarding the music history. I was fascinated by the stories your guides know :) A very interesting place.

(Translated) Very entertaining and interesting, as an elementary teacher, I suggest the following with a school group. Simple defect, the guides are a little disconnected in their presentation but, very nice (Original) Très amusant et intéressant, en tant qu'enseignant au primaire, je suggère la suite avec un groupe scolaire. (Translated) A little trip into the world of Émile Berliner, RCA Victor and Montreal from the 1920s and 1970s. This museum is full of little treasures and its guides, anecdotes about an unknown part of Montreal’s history. Rather humble, this museum would benefit from being known so that its imposing collection is highlighted!
