Interesting place for years. Great place for a visit.
If you have never been, you need to take a visit. This is Sarnia's hidden little (big) gem. It is so much more on the inside than what you see on the outside. WORTH THE TRIP.
Lots to see. Give yourself a couple of hours to see all the exhibits.
Great way to spend a couple hours. Reasonably priced for what you get to see! I had no idea there was so much history there!
There's something there for everyone to enjoy.
I enjoyed this museum very much. We had a guide help us. This made the experience that much better. The owners were there as well and were very friendly. Not the phony nice either. Genuinely nice and Friendly. They had very unique items too. I really did love it!
This place is cool! Only down side is that the rocks make me want to empty my whole savings. That said, I got a nice one for $4 still
What a wonderful place to visit and learn. Totally fun for children. Inexpensive couple hours of awesomeness
My daughter loved it
Tje kids had so much fun. Price was reasonable and there was so much cool stuff to see.
This place is so neat! Do not miss! I've never been anywhere like this and it was so interesting.
Owners/curators were very knowledgeable about all of the items in the museum. Priceless collection of almost any animal you can think of. Fantastic displays and fabulous gift shop. We spent over 2 hours looking at and marveling at the collections. Highly recommend going there.
Had a good time visiting for the second time last weekend
Unique and interesting.
Very very nice collection of artifacts, it was much more extensive than i imagined, the owners are very nice people and the yearly pass is an amazing deal,My 3 year old had a blast and learned some neat facts from the owner, we will be returning many times this year! If your visiting Sarnia this is a place you must visit
Awesome! Gift shop amazing. So much to see will have to visit again. Definitely worth a visit.
So good
What a pleasant surprise! This little museum is packed of stuff, very organized and well kept. The owners, greet you at the door and are the nicest people! Sadly I can't remember their names, husband just turned 77! gave us a tour and has stories to keep you there for a week just talking about everything, very engaging with the kids a a ton of fun facts! The wife ran the shop and was very patient having 4 kids running around while having a conversation with us, really recommended!! Go in, but don't just look around and leave, seek these people and you will get a truly exceptional experience.
Excellent collection. Informative and friendly atmosphere.
Great afternoon spent with my grandson learning lots of great info
Great place to spend time with your kids . Staff is very knowledgeable
This place is amazing with an eye opening experience that you enriched your imagination! unknown and known collections in space from butterflies to spiders and fossils to wild animals you can count on, high quality nature objects with amazing variety of quality that no other museums can compare or compete with. The owners are very nice couples so friendly and knowledgeable and passionate about their collections. It is a lifetime collection with so many histories and stories. They sometimes offer hands on learning experience when children are on site. Highly recommended and a must see location for people traveling with children.
I love this place. The owners are very knowledgeable and passionate about their exhibits. Highly recommended.
Enjoyable...so much to see.
Excellent place for the kids with inquisitive minds.
You must check this place out! It's a privately owned museum with a twist!
I love this place. From outside don't look like much, but when we went inside it is a whole another world in there. It is so much to see, and the people are real friendly. I recommend.
Interesting exhibits of fossils, insects, and taxadermy. Fun and reasonably priced gift shop. Definitely worth a look at least once!
Excellent display of worldwide rocks, fossils, and scenic displays of taxidermy. The managers/owners were wonderful and very informative on their lifetime appreciation of rarities and unusual artifacts.
This is by far the best Museum I have ever been to!! The owner is so incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We spent over two hours, almost three without even realizing it. Our tour guide Jonathan was so helpful with all our questions and was very funny with his jokes and humor. They have so many beautiful exhibits and creatures. I would highly recommend this museum and when I come back to Canada, I will make sure I come through Port Huron so I can go again. I actually would love to go again on my trip but cannot fit it in our itinerary. So in conclusion, BEST MUSEUM EVER!!!!!
It was so much fun and i got a tour around and it was so informative and kept me and my group interested
Wow! My family and I had an awesome time visiting this museum! One of the best museum I ever went to! A special thank you to Joseph who taught us various interesting facts about the animals, the fossils and many more! :)

This is an awesome museum! Went with my mother and her friend on a girl's weekend in Sarnia. Rates were fair, and the owner gave us a rather...memorable...tour. Jim always had a story to go along with the artifact/animal/gemstone I was looking at, and was very helpful when I had questions. He was quite a personality, sometimes more than an arms-length away and other times are less than an inch from my nose. I thought the museum was rather clean, although the de-humidifiers and heating units everywhere throughout the galleries struck me as kind of weird (minor detail, did not affect my visit at all). It was well-organized with kid-friendly cases. I especially enjoyed the collection of stuffed North American mammals and the dinosaur room. All in all, very cute little museum with an entertaining owner. Gift shop was a tad expensive for my taste, but if you're looking for a three-hour divergence in downtown Sarnia, this is DEFINITELY the place.
love the crystal!
Wow, display after displays of unique stones, minerals, fossils etc. I thought i would spend a short time there....ended up spending almost two hours. Two wonderful floors of displays with detailed information on the items origins. I've seen things that looked so incredible, couldn't believe that such wonderful items even existed in nature. Jim the owner was SO INFORMATIVE. This museum is definitely a must see!!
Really amazing inside. Awesome staff
We took the kids there this past weekend and had a blast! Ended up getting the family membership because there is so much to see. The owner and staff were awesome and very helpful. Loved the little gift shop and the scavenger hunts even though we didn't finish them because we got distracted by everything in there. Can't wait to go back. Definitely worth checking out!!!
We have not taken a lot of photos while visiting this museum, but we were overly impressed by its collection, cleanness, organization and knowledge of our Guide. When you look at museum from street, it looks like small store or art gallery, until you get inside and see how huge it is. We highly recommend this museum and it is must visit spot when you go to Sarnia. We enjoyed spending 1 1/2 here.
Had the privilege of meeting and conversing with the owners and their passion and dedication shine bright. Most breathtaking collection. My 12 yr old is in love with this place. A great experience and will visit often as there is always something new that catches your eye!
Jim and Allison are really nice. The gift shop is stock with something for everyone.
Kids had a great time here! So much to see in such a small space...not a lot of walking!
Sarnia is blessed to have Stones 'N Bones in town. It's a gold mine of history!!! My children brought me here on Mothers Day and I was so surprised by how amazing this place was. It has the most interesting collection of everything; fossils, taxidermy, gemstones, historical clothing, fish/shark bones, shells, you name it!!! As in the name, everything from stones to bones and more. If the kids didn't have dinner plans for us, I could have spent the day there. Sadly, we only spent about 2 hours looking around, and I feel like I've only scratched the service. Next visit, family pass!!! The prices are reasonable, the owner enjoys sharing his knowledge, and I can't wait to go back. Thank you Stones 'Bones for sharing your passions.
Great place to visit in Sarnia especially with the young ones. Interesting exhibits and very friendly and entertaining guide.
Remarkable hidden treasure. You’d never guess from the outside. Beautifully curated natural history museum and more. So many fascinating things, and if you’re lucky enough to get Jim to show you around be prepared for a lot of really interesting information, just give yourself enough time as he is unstintingly generous with his time.
Unexpectedly good for Sarnia. The exhibits are a bit crowded if you're used to larger city museums but they have a large range of items to look at, just in a smaller space. Nice gift shop too.
Really great experience, and it was much more than I had expected. There are TONS of things to learn about and great, knowledgable staff to give info and tell stories. It's amazing that they have so many genuine artifacts dating back 100's of million years. The quality of the animals and insects on display is fantastic. I would highly recommend a visit, and the best value is a 'Family 1-year Pass' for $30. Great giftshop with very affordable prices. 10/10 experience.
Lived Kevin he knows his stuff will be back soon to visit
Absolutely friendly, knowledgeable and warm staff already there to help you and explain every detail. Loved it.
A surprising amount of stuff. A fair bit of it is excellently done taxidermy. Well worth the trip for younger kids.
Affordable and cute little place with various animals. The kids loved it and the guide was fantastic by explaining the various displays.
Bigger and more interesting than expected. Tour guide Laura was fun, knowledgable and didn't rush us. Would go back. Kids (13 and 11) loved it. Eclectic collection.
Amazing experience
Fantastic collection. A real gem. The proprietors are very welcoming and make the experience
We had an absolutely great visit. Our most knowledgeable young university guide took us on our personal walk. He interacted so well with us and kept my grandchildren interested and amazed. He answered all our questions and we had lots. The museum itself is wonderful
Very cool! The staff are really enthusiastic and full of knowledge. Great place for the kids!
Great museum
Great place .... Awesome for gifts and great service people
Always a good experience
Always a good experience
Awesome place to visit with the whole family.
Nice little museum nestled in the downtown core of Sarnia. Great for school trips, or just personal viewing.
You and your date like science? Biology? Animals? Nature? Take her here. Smiles guaranteed.
Wonderful small museum. Very surprised how good the exhibits were. Would stop again!
Awesome little museum, kids love it. We go every week!
The grandchildren loved it.
Gotta go back some day!!!
This is a great privately-owned Museum in the heart of Sarnia. A must stop for tourists and a great value for how much you get to see and learn.
More then a museum! It's an experience! We had a personal guide take follow us through the exhibits and told us answered any questions we had. The owner greeted us after the tour to ensure we had a good time.
Amazing collections! Super friendly and knowledgeable docents. Zach was a great tour guide.
A mini ROM in downtown Sarnia! I was amazed at the displays and the knowledgeable, funny staff/owner. Superb!
Great afternoon outing location for families, tons of fun and interesting things to check out. Recommend for kids over 5, and at least a couple hours if you take your time and see all there is to see.
Owner was so amazing and spent personal time with my son and I. He just loves what he does and the collection is really great fun to look and learn. I have never received such personal attention and this place is a sleeper stop! Don't pass it up and thank you Jim for your passion !
An excellent private collection of taxidermy and skulls. Lots of minerals as well. A great hour and a half for our 3 year olds. Jim and Allison are enthusiastic and devoted to education.
You just can't possibly see it all in one visit! Amazing fossils, beautiful stones, bugs and animals of all kinds... And with the charm of being one man's obsession/collection. Was a huge hit with our 5 year old. Friendly staff who were more than willing to take the time to tell us what they know. We had a great time and will go back for sure!
Nice area
I loved all the different animals and saw some that you can't find any more the goeods were also very cool the owners are very friendly and over all good place
Nice selections of stones
This is a very good museum. The owner and commentator are very friendly and happy to answer our questions. It is especially recommended for families and children who love the animal world.
Awesome place to take kids.....owners are very helpful and very tolerant of the kiddos. Thanks for a great experience for my young niece. I will be back.
In town for the weekend for a wedding, we were looking for an activity to fill spare time. We stumbled upon Stones n’ Bones, and decided to give it a try. I must say, Jim (the owner) and his incredible collection deserve every five-star rating on here. We were treated to a two-hour tour curated by Jim and his knowledgeable staff. This museum is created to capture your attention—educating you without you even recognizing it. Along the way, you’ll soak up eye-rolling jokes from Jim, learning lots and laughing even more. This experience was a real treat, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The assortment of stones is amazing!!
Great place to spend an afternoon, very well done.
This is a great place for the whole family! My kids love going back again!
Amazing local museum
Little but great museum with nice collections of fossils, minerals and taxidermy animals. Staff was friendly and informative
Awesome place to take the kids
A small museum with alot of inventory. Love taking my boys here can get around the museum in about 45 mins to an hour but that's at a fairly fast pace.
This is a deceptively large place. We expected to spend an hour or so, and instead didn't see everything in 2 hours. The staff was very friendly.
This place is wonderful... The environment is friendly and highly enjoyable not to mention educational..
I took my daughter here the other day for the first time ever, we loved it so much!! I will recommend this to everyone I know!!!
Cute museum to go to, great tour, and interesting items in the gift shop.
Awesome place. The owner is very friendly and an interesting character. He is full of a lot of information and has a story about every piece on display. I definitely would recommend it for any age.
Absolutely wonderful gem of Sarnia. Personal tours by the owner and plenty of interesting and wonderous finds in a seemingly small package. Definitely worth the visit!
Great little hidden gem in Sarnia. Lots to see. Would be better if there is more information with the displays.
Excellent place to go with or without kids. Educational. Well worth it. Highly recommend.
The owners are just as delightful as the museum, this place is a gem itself! ????????
I give my experience a 0 out of 5 stars as once i entered with my family and my SERVICE DOG that is registered online, i have an official service dog card and the owner stated as soon as we walked in that my service dog was not welcome, my husband tried to show her the ADA service dog card and she ( one of the owners i believe) did not even look up from her box of money and stated she " did not care" very rudely in front of my children and threatened to get 'Jim' whoever that is to come out to talk to us??? it is FEDERAL LAW to refuse a service animal and if they are not welcome they should have a sign on the door !! we walked right out and was very appalled with how we were treated, no thanks i will take my money somewhere else.
I've been to world-renowned museums in London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Tokyo, Seoul, Chicago etc. Stones and Bones gives every single one of them a run for their money. Without doubt one of the most breathtaking collections in existence. This, from a little store front on a street in Sarnia, Ontario. As good as it gets. Simply incredible.
Great place for kids
Very knowledgeable staff.
Our guide Logan made our visit very interesting and pleasant. Museum looks really small from when you walk in but it's deceiving it's actually very big. A lot of cool things to see! We really enjoyed it
A must see stop in Sarnia-Lambton.
The best museum I've ever been to. The owner does regular tours and is really enthusiastic and kid-friendly. This place is as quick or as long as you need it to be. There is enough stuff that I took about an hour and a half just enjoying it all, but you could easily be out of there in like 15 minutes if you needed to be. The gift shop also has some really neat metals and rocks for good prices.
Excellent place and very informative.
Humble and unpretentious. Well - appointed with local and international natural artifacts. Gift shop had a lot of variety, staff was very friendly.
All of the above! Great place to visit.
The small storefront is decieving - this museum has two stories and many well curated rooms. They had a super knowledgeable tour guide for us who knew the answer to every one of our kids (and our) questions. He was kind, polite, and fun. The kids had an amazing time. They have a lot on display, a wealth of knowledge, and a sense of humor. The gift shop is really neat, too. Thanks for a great time. We spent an hour and a half. Alone we would have walked through much quicker, glad we had a tour guide.
So many cool things and such a great gift shop!!
My 4 year old loves it, I was worried that he would be scarred but absolutely not, the displays were really good and the place is impeccably clean. We loved it and would come again a when he is a little older to visit again. We are grateful to the owners for sharing this place, it’s really nice ????
Absolutely incredible museum! It's clear that the owner cares deeply about maintaining an excellent collection of an assortment of exhibits. Laura is also an absolutely out-of-this-world tour guide! The exhibits may be fantastic but they're second to her enthusiasm and passion for natural history. You learn something new every time you walk in the place and go for a tour! Definitely check this place out!
Go here you won't be disappointed
What an exciting place for discovery! The kids just loved it start to finish! And the gift store was very well priced. So much to see here a must see.
I went here while visiting my fiance and his family in the summer and, while the building is small, it was a wonderful experience because it was just enough for a half-day trip and didn't exhaust us, but had as many things to look at and examine as could be crammed in to the place. The owner came around and chatted with us and gave us a partial tour and talked at great length about the exhibits and their histories. Their glow-in-the-dark exhibit was AWESOME and probably my favorite. It was all quite fascinating and I would love to go back sometime. I would certainly recommend this place to people of all ages - definitely bring a camera! :D
Interesting and educational
Amazing collection of minerals, fossils, precious gems, coral, insects, and taxidermy. Definitely worth a visit. They had a few items that are in top 3 "biggest in Canada/world" category, including a stunning cut topaz. I love my minerals and fossils so it was wonderful for me. My daughter just turned 3 and she really enjoyed it. Especially the dark room where you press a button and it lights up the florescent rocks. Some of the display cases are a bit too high for her to see into, but I was able to just lift her up for those. I found it was a good place to practice "museum etiquette" like walking, talking quiet, and not touching. I also had my 3 month old son (in a carrier) and he was fine. Get the tour (free with admission) from the super friendly staff to learn more about the collection. Talk to the owners on the way in or out for some colourful stories.
Super cool place
I can't say enough good things about this place. I had read a review complaining about the owners before going, but I couldn't have found them more wrong (realistically, one doesn't want to believe their kids are monsters, but...). The owners and their employees were super helpful, very eager to share interests, and always willing to discuss the collection, which is private. They even had a scavenger hunt to help engage the young visitors. If I had one criticism, it seems that they have outgrown their space because they have more neat things than places to put them. We wished that we had had more time to spend there.
This place is jam packed with things to learn about. Expertly arranged animal displays are jaw dropping. You can either self-guide or take advantage of a tour guide. Very reasonably priced admission and gift shop. Highly recommend this place!
This is a great museum in downtown Sarnia, I highly recommend it!
What an awesome place..Was there today. Owners are awesome..Lots to see..so much love and work went into this place.
Great little hole in the wall private museum of the natural history sort. Mostly taxidermied animals, fossils, rocks, crystals and gems. Met the owner and he was incredibly enthusiastic about his collection. Was a real treat to be shown around by him.
Awesome museum located in the heart of Sarnia's downtown. Lots of cool displays and very rare stones and bones. Huge collection of different types of rocks and fossils from around the world. Hard to believe there is so much in it. Highly recommend for all ages.
The best place to find original history and rocks and gems.
Small but superb privately owned museum. The exhibits are great and the owners make this a must.
I love the Stones N Bones Museum! Owner and workers there are very sweet and kind. They always greet me on my way in and on my way out they always say bye. I love the crystals and gemstones they have and I'm always going in again and again to buy more! I highly recommend you go visit here! It's beautiful, cost very little and it's great for the whole family!
Great place to spend a few hours
It's a mixed between bones, animals and rypley's. Many things to watch and the best is the personalized attention. My daughter was looking some random stuff and the guide just jump with interesting facts and offer to see other more. Great place, for sure I'll visit it again.
The kids had a great time doing the scavenger hunt and learned so much
Awesome Place! I very much enjoyed the owners knowledge of the store really is second to none! He will knock your socks off! A friend of mine from out of town came to Sarnia and this is a must view from anyone spending any time in the area. Very friendly and polite/funny owner. You really can visit the establishment multiple times!
A really great place to visit. Engaging fun really good collection of items. Well worth going to. We will definitely go back.
Great place to take the family or just go yourself lots to see and do. Amazing things to look at and learn about very educational for young and old.
Surprisingly enough for a small city of Sarnia it was amazingly filled with excellent exhibits of animals , nature, prehistoric bones, the staff & curator were very friendly and knowledgeable about all the specimens. Adult $7.00 Kids under 12 $3.00. 10/10 for them!
Amazing collection of Natural History, if you visit Sarnia this place is a must see. The owners/curators are very kind and genuine people not to mention hilarious.
Fun for all ages. If you are into stuffed animals and bones and stuff.
Given its small size, this is a great little museum with a lot of knowledgeable staff willing to take time to explain an exhibit or just converse with you if that's what you want. The only thing this museum leaves you wanting is more.
A real hidden jewel. Very interesting, great collection of artifacts.
Collections are marvelous and they let us know about each creature
What a nice place! I bought some stones in there gift shop. The gift shop prices are great too!
Really amazing things
Went here last year and didn’t really enjoy my visit. When we first arrived the owner came out and told us how great it was and how you would need a couple of visits to see everything. My family and I saw everything comfortably in 2.5hrs. I felt that he over sold the place. The gift shop was my favourite part of the trip there. They had a nice selection of cool items and the cashier was super nice! Would love to get to the gift shop again soon.
Fantastic museum with fantastic owners! Highly recommend!!
Always a nice variety
Loved this place. Great staff
Great museum packed with interesting artifacts.
Love this place great museum
We learned a lot about the animals and got to pet a baby kangaroo.
Hours of interesting item to review. Curator Jim is quite humorous and entertaining. We will stop by again.
Excellent private owned museum in downtown Sarnia. Definitely worth visiting! A thourough collection of minerals, fossils and animals in one place. Some rate things too! Chat with guys there, they are very nice and knowledgeanle. May even show you some extra things that aren't on display.
My dad and I took my Nephew here just yesterday. Lots to see and its way bigger than it looks. Great for kids of all ages. The friendly owner dose a fun presentation too. This place is a gem.
Excellent prices on a wide variety of jewelry and stones. And excellent museum too
This place is great! My 10yo son loves it here, no matter how many times we go, u always find something new or fun. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Price is decent for what you get. There is also a cute little souvenir shop at the entrance with all kinds of neat stones and fossils. A must see for sure.
If you are in Sarnia, this place is a must visit. It doesn't look big from the outside, but you can easily spend hours here. From fossils to taxidermy (lions, black bears, polar bears, all kinds of birds etc.) to an amazing rock collection this place is definitely time well spent. My only regret was not being able to spend more time here.
Great owners and employees. Amazing amount of stuff to see- a great afternoon
Awesome place! Kevin was a wonderful guide and could handle the rapid fire questions of our 6 yr old. Can't wait to come again!
HORRIBLE! We took our kids there based on the reviews. It was small, quaint museum which was fine and the tour guide, Zach, was amazing with my kids. My kids were very interested in everything and had thousands of questions for him. He was very patient and answered each one of their questions. The problem with this experience is that the manager or owner is not very kid friendly. He came upstairs and told me that my kids were being loud and running. Yes, my kids were excited and would run to the next exhibit (which I was constantly telling them to walk) but the were not being boisterous by any means, I told him that yes, I was making sure they walked. As the manager walked away he told the tour guide "good luck". That was not called for. We then proceeded to leave and I told my kids that we were not welcome here as they were being very rude to us. A lady (maybe the owner / managers wife) asked what the problem was and I told her that the other gentleman was being rude and what he had said. He then proceeded to come out of the back room to tell me that my kids were too young for this place and we should return in a few years. I told him that they were not and that they were constantly asking questions and thriving on the new knowledge they were getting. He told me that they were constantly running and that they were not learning anything. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It is sad, as it is probably a good tourist attraction for downtown Sarnia. I will make sure that I do tell as many people as I can about the horrible, non-kid friendly environment it is. On the website it says Visit Us - For Kids...clearly they do not want kids there!
Great local museum with many artifacts.
The owners are wonderful with children. It had tons of interesting exhibits for both young and old. My daughter loved it and can't wait to go back. This is truly a hidden gem.
What a gem of a place. The owner is a one of a kind gentleman. Talked with him lots, very personable and had lots if great information. Kids absolutely loved the place as did myself. Was very impressed with this place.
Very interesting and great for kidd
Awesome establishment. Well worth the visit. Very very impressed with the variety of displays and layout
Awesome establishment. Well worth the visit. Very very impressed with the variety of displays and layout
Great place for kids to learn!!
Friendly people, great gift stop and museum
Great collection
My 3.5 year old loved this place! Very awesome place to visit, lots of things to see and owner and his wife are great.
Always a great visit
This museum is a gem ( pardon the pun ) ! Worth every cent, the staff are awesome. The owner is a hoot. It's deceiving how much there is to see and learn about. We just loved it!
Very nice museum it was one of the best I've been!! Very friendly owner!! Will definitely come again!!
Cute gift shop, cool things to see ????
I meant to do this a couple years ago but…Great place to spend the day… pleasant staff and great gift shop. Definitely recommend!
I was absolutely taken back at how amazing this place is. There are about 10,000 square feet of fossils, skulls, taxedermy, insects, stones and geodes. Additionally the hosts are amazing resources for education on all exhibits, and entertaining as well. My family and I bought an annual pass so we will definately be back to spend more time taking in the exhibits.
This is one of the nicest museums I visited with my family. Took a day trip from London to visit the museum, and surely it was all worth it. Thank you Kevin for beeing an awesome guide for my family and I. The owner is proud of his accomplishments. Surely well deserved. The lady at the cash was patient and friendly. Thank you all!
Amazing collection of both local and worldly fossils, specimens, and artifacts. Ten out of ten!
Great place to go a hidden gem for Sarnia. Take your family or go by yourself. Stones and Bones does a great job with this unique museum. Don't forget to buy some stones and crystals, also jewelery is beautiful. Great prices for there souvenir shop.
Exceeded my expectations. There's a ton to see. The museum is bigger than it looks from the outside, and each room is densely packed with specimens. The guides are friendly and informative.
This place has been near and dear to my heart since my boys were little. There is lots to see and there are knowledgeable guides. The gift shop has all kinds of unique gifts
Great
An interesting museum for anyone interested in stones and fossils. Has a nice sea life display.
Very intersting place to visit
Very intersting place to visit
One of my favorite places to be. And as for the owners, Jim and Allison, two of the most amazing people I've ever met. Can't wait to go back.
My new husband and I visited this museum and it was a truly unique and amazing experience! The owner and his wife were extremely friendly and helpful, and so many things we had never seen before. Would highly recommend. Was the highlight of our visit to Sarnia. Only problem was too many wonderful things in the gift shop????
We visited Stones N Bones on a birthday weekend. To our surprise we were greeted by Mr Gorege Clooney.A very charming, knowledgable older gentleman that had a great knack for jokes and story telling. The Museum was filled with the most vast display of items that i could hardly write about any one or my favorite piece. All I must say is it was a great experiece that I will never forget.
Great collection of animal, stones, insects, ...
This place is amazing. You would never know how big it is from the front. If you love natural history, dinosaurs, historical knick knacks, or fossils gems and minerals this place has it all. Make sure you get the tour from the owner, he knows the story behind every item in the museum. Be prepared to spend some time, trust me it will be well worth it.
One of my favourite places in Sarnia! Especially as a kid. The owners are great. When my brother and I were younger the owner even let us help and look around a new room he was setting up on the main floor. His wife in the gift shop picks out the most beautiful jewelery.
Nice little adventure around the museum with a tour guide. The tour guide lady was very patient and informative with all the exhibits.
A lot of stuff in a small space. An amazing deal!
A really unique place to visit.
The owners are so interactive! Lots of cool things to look at! Inexpensive gems etc!
Very interesting place. Will definitely make it back this year
All the collections are just so awesome that i have ever seen. It is definately go go for all and I highly recommend.
Excellent local museum. Great for both kids and adults. Definitely recommend!
There's a lot to see here if you like fossils, gems, and taxidermy'd animals. The owner and guides are very friendly and knowledgeable too. Only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because not all exhibits are labeled so it's sometimes hard to know what you're seeing.
Fantastic place and the owners are very knowledgeable about everything they have
Ontario's best kept secret. 1-2 hours makes it more family and disability friendly than any other comparable attraction anywhere. Prices for family and gift shop are out of this world! Learning experience was definitely on par with the ROM. Personal tour guide to explain about everything and answer every question ... no matter how small. Out of town guests just love heading there. Family membership for three years and will go back again! Christine.
Small, but nice. Kids have different physical anthropological exhibits to entertain them. Insects, Rocks and Minerals, Dinosaurs, Police Uniforms, Under Water Animal section and many more. Bought season pass.
Great for kids!
Kevin is really helpful and knowledgeable. Recommend for everyone.
We all enjoyed our visit to this interesting place
Awesome place with an awesome staff. A must see for visitors and locals alike!
it was a great experience, the museum was big and full of interesting collections and Kevin explained them so patiently for us. we’ve learned alot. Highly Recommended. It was great
Really nice experience and the owners are very kind and friendly
Owner is a talker, but is incredibly knowledgeable
So much to see and learn! Wonderful exhibits.
So interesting for all ages. Our grandkids loved everything especially the bugs and dinosaurs.
Great collection of minerals, gems, bones and natural history! The owners are sweet and quirky and love taking time to show off their collection! The price is cheap and a great way to entertain the kids on a cold winter day! We bought post cards (to use as tickets) and took lots of pics and are gifting the grandkids with a trip for Christmas with our own scavenger hunt made for each of them!
Great place to soak up some history
Great place to bring the kids for an afternoon of fun and learning. The outside of the building is very deceiving. It's pretty big on the inside and there is lots to see. The gentleman that owns it is great with kids and very personable. Their gift shop is very well priced and they have some neat stuff.
Love this place. Took two kids age 8 and 5 and they loved the exhibits. So much to take in we marveled at the taxidermy animals for a very long time. The tour guides were great with the kids providing fun information on the exhibits and a few hands on items for the kids to touch. It's not a huge place but it's packed with some really amazing artifacts, animal exhibits, rocks, minerals...it's really quite an amazing collection from a private collector. The owners are amazing, funny, helpful and we're great with the little ones. They have a scavenger hunt for the kids to fill out, upon exit they can receive a reward. The gift shop is great, so much to look at and buy, from stones, gems, fossils, jewellery, shells, starfish etc. Great place to spend a few hours and the kids will learn a lot about nature.
This museum was a great visit with my daughter. We had the opportunity to meet and talk with some of the staff. They were extremely friendly. For being such a small location, there were definitely a lot of things to see and learn. A great place to visit with small children.
We had a wonderful time. I definitely recommend for all ages.
Worth the stop. The museum is packed with fossils, insects, rocks and gems all beautifully presented. The animals are all wonderfully arranged sometimes in funny poses. If you want to pick up a fossil, rock or gem this is the place to go.
Kids has a blast here - will come back again!
Interesting for all ages. Worth a visit!
Wonderful Place
Awesome place!!!
????????????????????
Should be called stuffed animals.
I went with my niece and nephews ranging in age from 3 months to 9 years and they all loved it. Lots of items on exhibit ranging from local fossils to exotic animals and even dinosaur fossils. The gift shop is also quite extensive and reasonably priced. It is kind of hidden, but if you watch for the dinosaur crossing sign you shouldn't have a problem
The lady who runs the gift shop is wonderful. Also great selection of gems and stones.
Great place for kids and adults. Tour guide is awesome and shares knowledge and facts about the museum! Truly speaking, it was a wonderful experience!! Must go place!
Will NOT allow certified seeing eye dog.
I loved how much stuff this place has. The owner really knows his stuff. The place looks small from the outside but once inside and start going through the exhibits, you'll be amazed. Came here with a couple relatives when I was visiting in the area. I'm trying to pass the word on about this place.
Lots of fun. Many things to see. Jim was great.
Pretty neat museum. Seems like it's seen better days, but the quality of gems, animals, shells and geode's is top-notch. 1 hour in here is all you need to cover everything. Gift shop on site as well. 4/5.
Gift shop is amazing! Shop owner was friendly and helpful. So many interesting and different gifts.
This is such a wonderful place for children and adults. They have animals such as bears and deer and birds of prey that have been done by a taxidermist. And there are turtles upstairs and so much more. I have taken all 7 of my grandchildren and other friends there. I highly recommend you go there.
Unbelievably rude staff, might have a good thing going, but lost my business and any family that might go there. I don't leave bad reviews, but the service I got here was unbelievably bad. Staff lady was unwilling to help, wouldn't give a name of an artist, in the thought that I might actually buy a price of jewelry from the artist and not the store. Even though I've bought there before. I'd give a zero rating if I could. Very cleary in the business for profit, gift shop not supportive of artists. Money hungry attitude.
Very nice interesting place to discover
I'm visiting Canada from England and went here with my girlfriend today. One of my favourite museums I've ever visited :) Amazing collections and so much to look at despite the small size - I've never really been in a museum like it. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.
At first glance it didn't look like much. Take a chance and go in, they have A LOT of cool animals and minerals to look at, highly recommend!

If you're in Sarnia Ontario you need to check it out. Best little museum around.
An amazing collection with lovely enthusiastic staff. Well worth a visit.
Best Museum! Kids Loved it so much! ONWER and Staff, Kevin, super friendly. They really enjoy explaining about their collections. Will definitely come back! Highly recommend^^
I really enjoyed this little gem in Sarina. I feel it's a must see.
Only go if you are a taxidermy fanatic as thats all this place is. That and plastic bones and fake fossiles. The light show was glow paint and a black light on some stones. Not to mention the extreamly weird vibes the owner gives. One big sham was expecting something that resembled a real museum not rooms on rooms full of cheap novelties. I wouldent be suprised if some of the five star ratings are fake accounts to promote this place. Save your 7$ get taco bell as it would be money better spent with a better outcome.
Lots to see! Very educational.
Great place to see!! A lot of very interesting creatures.
Our grandson fell in love with this museum. He wants to be a geologist when he grows up. Very informative and the staff are awesome.
We have been to Stones N Bones 4 times. The first time I had a uneasy feeling about the owner (the husband) but couldn't quite place it. We always make several purchases at the gift shop before leaving. On our 4th and final visit we arrived at 4:15 pm knowing that they close at 5:00 pm. On this day we were basically stopping in to make some purchases from the gift shop on our way to another destination. When I came through the entrance with my 4 year old the man (owner) told me that they are getting ready to close. They even had started turning off lights. I looked at my watch and verified their hours of operation as it was 4:15. I felt very unwelcome and irritated. My child picked out 5 dinosaur figures. As he (owner) was ringing in our purchases he leaned over with his back to us, removed a $12 tag from the tail of a dino and slipped a $25 tag on to replace it. I am well aware of the retail price of these particular figures as my child collects them and we have purchased literally dozens in a wide variety of sizes. The man (owner) looked up at me after entering the price oblivious to the fact that I had just witnessed what he did. We will never return.Shame on you! One last thing..if your closing time is 5:00 pm you should start closing duties at 5:00 pm rather than making people feel unwelcome who have come to give you their business.
(Translated) This museum is just great! I recommend to everyone. This museum is great! I recommend it to everyone. (Original) This museum is just great! I recommend to everyone. Ce musée est génial! Je le recommande à tous le monde.
What a PERFECT find! A full museum display with a small town feel! The kids absolutely loved every part of this place. Staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, they are true kind souls. Unbelievably great prices for admission and gift shop made it so affordable for our large family and we will be returning again!
Wonderful place that is much larger than you'd think with great owners. Been to many museums over the years as well as being a rockhound and can say that this collection is as impressive if not better than the ROM.
This is an amazing place and today we had a guide. Kevin taught us so much!! We bought a souvenir and met the owners, Jim and Allison. I highly recommend anyone of any age to visit!!
A real gem in Sarnia. Must see for all dino and ocean animal lovers.
Very good collection with very knowledgeable staff friendly teaches children well
Me and my two kids went last friday, we had a blast, so interesting! Will definitively go back!
I wasn't sure when I walked in. But it was fascinating. Staff is very friendly and eager to share their knowledge.
This place is awesome! I spent four hours here. If you like natural history this place is for you.
Fantastic our seconds time there and the girls loved it see you next year.

What a wonderful museum to visit. The displays are all incredible. Our guide Laura was especially helpful, friendly and quite knowledgeable. The owners Alison and Jim are particularly delightful. Sarnia is very lucky to have such a place for everyone to enjoy.
Phenomenal place, many many interesting exhibits. Staff were passionate about the place not only that our tour guide Jim was hilarious and very informative. I would definitely recommend a visit here. Gift shop had the best selection of rocks and gemstones I've ever seen. We learned a lot and shared many laughs. Would recommend to everyone I know.
