Fantastic way to spend a day. The hardens, the mansion, the museum. Love, love, love. The interactive experience with the family photos in the museum is second to none. Never seen it before & what an awesome display!
The new Visitors Center is beautiful! Continental Restaurant dining is elegant & delicious.
Very very nice to be able to wander threw the Edsel Ford home.
Very nice estate surrounded by a beautiful lake. Lake St Clair. The staff always available for help in a friendly manner. Well maintained, very clean. Can have a nice day out in the nature.

We did the behind the scenes tour. Great insight into the Ford family and their home. If you have a chance, do this, you won't be disappointed.
The Ford family pops up in most of the places that a visitor to Detroit is likely to visit. Given their influence and money, I was half expecting this house to be a mini Versailles, but was pleased to encounter a place with relatively modest family living spaces as well as substantial areas designed for hosting business and social functions. The tours are well organized - we arrived just as a tour was starting, but it was full, so we used the half hour to visit the gift shop and stroll to the main house, seeing the grounds up-close instead of waiting for the next shuttle. The 'play house' was fascinating - a 2/3 scale building built for their daughter's 7th birthday. Pictures of grown-ups in this building look delightfully weird. The main house is undeniably massive, and the function rooms have spectacular features imported from old European buildings, but, the rooms used for day to day living are surprisingly cozy, 1930's modern, and full of what was then state-of-the-art technology, in refrigeration and intercom/communications, hifi, and containing a strikingly stylish piano. Our guide struck a nice balance in keeping track of time, to be sure to present each room thoroughly, while making sure we would be able to see everything. One thing that the family splurged on was art - the general tour gave some information about some pieces, but there is apparently a separate tour (visit the web site) if you want to concentrate on just the art collection.
Awesome place to visit!!
Very cool estate, love the grounds and amazing history. Highly recommend!

Four of us went there we had to make reservations for four people, twowith birthdays. We had a very nice time with great conversation enjoyed the food. May I say the raspberry peach cobbler was good but I think that the peaches were overpowered by the raspberry I think when they make cobblers they should make a peach cobbler only or a raspberry cobbler but not put the two fruits together at the same cobbler also for four people it was over $200 so we won't be going there often but it was a wonderful time great Ambiance wonderful waitress Good Times
Beautiful grounds, lots of room to walk. Toured the playhouse last time... Completely changed my perspective on what it was knowing the backstory. Won't ruin the plot twist, go find out for yourself!! Worth every penny.
Loved it..staff was super friendly.. love to learn all the history.. loved the price!!
The outside garden is perfectly picturesque! When building renovations, I'll go back again to tour the inside of the house and try the restaurant.
Great place to see Detroit sympathy Orchestra on the water every summer. Great time

Absolutely beautiful place inside and out
Awesome exhibit of the Golden Era of Detroit.
Beautiful and worth the visit. A guided tour is the way to go.
Went with my 3 sisters for a fun day out and we couldn’t have been more pleased! We did the premium tour. The house and grounds are spectacular and our tour guide Terry, was fantastic!! He was so knowledgeable and funny!! We’d go again. ❤️
Wonderful seniors trip. Great place to visit. New restaurant just opened this year. Excellent food and service. Very interesting museum too.
Loved touring the mansion and the grounds. However, the Nooks and Crannies tour was a letdown. Though our docent (Melanie) was wonderful and knowledgeable, touring the bowels of the home was uneventful. At some points the air was stifling and warm causing us to be quite uncomfortable.
Price for adult entry
For the price of a tour and price of the drinks available during the tour, it was unreasonably expensive. Staff was very uninformed and often had lots of misinformation. After leaving, we realized a lot of things they said were actually facts about the Henry Ford House in Dearborn. However, these things could be due to it being Christmas time and the need to hire staff quickly for a busy time of year. In addition, you are required to pay for special tours to see the entire house. So on top of the $20 you spend for the original tour, you have to come back on a weekday to see the basement and third floor. Not being able to take photos is a little bit annoying, however, I can understand the right to preserve the property. Overall, it left a lot to be desired.
Such tranquil, lovely grounds, as well as exquisite craftmanship and collections throughout the home... the charming Cotswold exterior design does make the mansion appear smaller than the square footage reveals inside. We had a very knowledgeable tour guide, who shared the rich history of the estate. I appreciate the generosity of the Ford family to make such an exquisite donation to the public for us all to enjoy.

Amazing historical site, wonderful tour. Our docent was the best!
Great place to go if you want to see how the rich lived before all you had to do to get rich was release a sex tape of you blowing some marginal "celebrity". Edsel Ford knew how to live. Not to mention the grounds are keep to exceptional standards. Not a well known spot, but I recommend it to anyone in the area, great way to spend a day.
Just drove 2 hours to take my Mom for your holiday tour and because we could not purchase tickets ahead of time she was disappointed when you were sold out. Will not make the trip again. Our adventure will be Meadow Brook Hall like last year much more accommodating:
The beauty and history of this place are striking! I love the Ford House and its grounds, especially in the fall. One of my favorite places in Michigan. The restaurant experience was OK though. Reservation needed- but service and food wasn’t that great on this visit. Hopefully better next time. I will keep going back to Ford house/grounds because it is a little gem!
So much history! I loved the open grounds, the stand alone playhouse, the flower gardens and the tour was so excellent!
Had lunch at the Continental, fantastic meal, an even better value. Jessica was our gourmet specialist (waitress or server doesn't do her justice). Our party of six loved the experience.
The history of the Ford family and the industrial powerhouse of Detroit are undeniable, as are their significance to the greater American story. I was born and raised on Robert John Road seventy years ago, just a block or two away from Lakeshore Road and the Ford Estate. I attended St. Lucy's Catholic School, and regularly walked to and from school through the snow and through Grosse Point Woods (and the cottages where all of the housekeepers quarters were), climbing trees and jumping down into deep stacks of fallen leaves. The memories are vivid, boundless and priceless, and I am forever grateful to the precious and loving grandparents who selflessly agreed to raise me there, and who allowed me to know that enchanted life. God Bless both of them, and God Bless that now late-great America!
Beautiful at Christmas time with the home decorated. Very thorough and informative tour given by a docent. Looking forward to picnicking on the expansive grounds this Summer!
I was turned away because I have a service dog. I had all his documentation: shot records, certifications, and doctors note with me. So much for ADA compliance.
Night time Christmas tour of the house. It was my 2nd time (after many years), my friends first time, both of us will be back soon to walk the grounds.
Just driving by is enjoyable. I want to do the tour one day, a historical mansion.
The Christmas light walk was very nice. Recommend it if you are in the area.
The place is really pretty. You can go there, walk and then drink wine. I really recommend this place to go and relax.
The Halloween visted was nice. My family members enjoy it, the trick treat trail was was nice???? the kids love the hay ride.
An amazing tour, that was worth going too! You learn amazing little details about your history!
This place never fails at being wonderful. My wife and I have done wedding photos, our kids photos and more here. The grounds are at their best (in my opinion) during the fall. The Fall festival and kids trick or treat events are reasonably priced and we'll put together. Haven't taken a tour in years, next on my to do list!
Beautiful house and landscaping. It's a wonderful place to experience with your family all year round.
Very nice tour. The house is amazing and the garden overlooking the lake is just perfect.
Beautiful place great people
Food was very good, generous portions, overall a great experience
Very cool! Beautiful mansion! The original furnishings are quite interesting. The grounds are excellent. Plan two to three hours for a thorough visit.
The Edsel and Eleanor Ford mansion is such a peaceful place to visit. The rose garden beckons to you, the lakeviews make you want to set up a picnic and if you take a tour of the house, it's like taking a walk through time. The play house on the grounds is every little girl's dream. If you ever have the opportunity to take a tour or even just become a member and take your dog for a walk in the grounds, it is well worth the cost and the time.

This House is a beautiful display of our history. It has an excellent guided tour available!!
Really enjoyed our visit here. Excellent visitor center with a museum, shop, and restaurant, and a shuttle to the main house. Ticket was well priced and gave us access to the expansive grounds and the house, which we could tour at our own pace. It was self guided, but there were lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff around if you had questions. They really know the history of the place. Amazing architecture and collection of art and furniture, and beautifully decorated for Christmas to boot. Plus I had no idea how generous and impactful the Fords actually were. Can't wait to go back for the nooks & crannies tour!

Beautiful grounds, garden and tourist center. I went only for Eyes On Design car event and did not take a tour or enter the Ford home. Plenty of open space and handicap parking.
So quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Staff is the best, very pleasant and so helpful! Beautiful views!
Went for a special event. Nice safe place for kids to trick or treat. Thought there would have been more activities for a paid event.
The programs here are fantastic. Definitely checking out a membership here so we can get signed up first.

Beautiful scenery. Tranquility, peace and joy found in God's nature
What a outstanding look into the home life a wealthy historic family. So much of the home is built with pieces brought over from Europe that are from at least the 1300s. Be prepared to do stairs & walk a great deal on the grounds. Very knowledgeable docents to describe the home & history of the building, family & era. Really a must see for any Detroiter or vacationers. Quite a bargain too compared to other historical home tours in other towns.
Absolutely amazing this places in Christmas, I’m not sure if in another moment it will look this amazing. I love the mansion, the decoration also started to snow at the moment we went there. You can spend around 2 or 3 hours there. There is a restaurant but if you want to eat there you should book before because we tried to eat something there and is only with reservation.

When my dad had a boat we took a ride to a cove near this historic place. Detroit is proud of this family and the estate is frequently visited by tourists. Classically made stone and majestically built. Would most definitely would recommend you to visit that and memorial nearby. See you there!!

Went to Starry Nights last night and cannot believe they charge $20. All they had was a handful of trees lit up and 3 colored igloos with some projections. The entire field you walk around was empty. When we got there we asked someone working if we were in the wrong place, that's how few lights there were. We saw more lights on one house driving home. Go to the Detroit Zoo lights instead, same price and a hundred times more lights. Or even Beacon Park downtown has more lights and that is free. What a disappointment.
Perfect venue for events! Recently I participated in the "Eyes on Design" car show here. With approximately 250 rare vintage, classic and prototype cars and several thousand attendees, this venue easily handled our group. On 65 acres of Lake St. Clair, the Edsel & Eleanor Ford estate is the perfect place to host your outdoor event. The historic home is available for tours and grounds can accommodate group events of size with plenty of parking.

Amazing house which provides insight to the lives of the extreme rich. Visit on nice days and enjoy the 80+ acres. Great views of the lake.
Amazing experience! Will definitely go again!
Beautiful grounds to walk.
We just left the light show, it was amazing, the help we received from Emily was even better! She went out of her way to make sure that we could enjoy the show. Thank you for our private tour Emily!

Awesome place to visit, I do the tree work there. Highly recommend checking it out
Unique among historic homes because it contains all the furnishings and many of the original pieces of art owned by the family. The daughter's playhouse was especially charming. Jackie, our docent, was amazingly knowledgeable.

This place is beautiful! You can't complain about the price, because it is very reasonable. I wish the insides would have been open (but I understand why they weren't). Everyone working was very nice.
Always a quiet pleasant visit. The DSO preformed and the fireworks were great.
Always a beautiful place to visit. The tours are informative and the grounds are immaculate.
Very nice place. Tour guides were very knowledgeable of the history. Gorgeous views of the lake
Had a great time today with Terry our tour guide.. you could tell he enjoys his job!! the house is amazing... and will definitely go back again!! Thank you Terry
Drove out of the way to just walk the grounds and see the property. Arrived, the guard at the entrance said they aren’t open to the public until April 2021 AFAIK, the Google listing doesn’t say anything about it being closed, it still states regular hours. FYI Just from turning around 20ft past the guard post, can only imagine what the rest of the property looks like ????????

Outstanding. A wonderful job has been done to preserve the mansion while keeping the supporting buildings contemporary, clean, and modern. This was a great experience. For $10, you can walk the mansion and the grounds for as long as you'd like. The landscape and walking trails with all the trees and the view of the lake is fantastic.
Beautiful place!! All the staff are friendly and helpful. Great place to picnic, walk, or enjoy looking at the lake.
We went to the Lights show with the whole family. It was magical.

Beautiful grounds and such a colorful history. I will come back to this place to visit the home and tour the bird sanctuary. Such a gem in the city here.
Fantastic even if you just walk the grounds. The tour is well worth it but even if you are short on time have a walk around the property. The key spots all have well educated guides nearby to answer questions too. You can get a yearly pass for a low price that is good at their lunch cafe.
I took the Holiday House and Grounds tour. Great place to tour. It's a self guided tour, but lots of staff to assist or answer questions. It's a beautiful house and grounds.
So awesome. It's like a huge theme park without any ugly rides.
One of the best values for tourists. This home is beautiful; the grounds and other buildings are also well done. Make sure you give yourself enough time to really walk the grounds and explore all there is to do here. The best and most fun way to learn history is by seeing how people lived in times past.
Just lovely! Appreciate all the thought and work involved. Food excellent. Only criticism is parking is awful for us handicapped.
Unique venue and location. One of Metro Detroit's highlights.

Great tour! I always learn something new. House is beautifully decorated like it was in the 1960's for their Holiday Belles tours.
Always enjoy visiting the Eleanor and Edsel Ford house. If you've not been here you should strongly consider going on the tour. It is reasonably priced an excellent tour and then you can walk the grounds beautiful grounds in the springtime with wonderful tulips and daffodils in bloom. The home is wonderful and yet has an excellent feeling of comfort that you can actually Envision the family living here.
I thought it was a must see. Great history. Beautiful gardens and lake front. Recommend that if your in the area that you stop by and take the tour.
ENJOYED THE TOUR VERY MUCH AND HAVE SEEN IT FOUR TINES
This place was elegant. The docents were highly informative and congenial. Josephine's Playhouse was the best part of the visit- I would happily move there!

Had a blast! My grandkids from the 13 year old on down to the 2. We did chalk the walk, everyone was respectful of social distance yet friendly. Always a good time.
Magically beautiful house and surroundings. Edsel sadly died before he reached 50. He must have loved this place, hey, who wouldn't. The house is amazing and the amazement continues with the pool house, playhouse, garage and gardens. But, still, a liveable environment, not an overly fancied up monument. Seems like a very comfortable home even though it is grand and impressively, maybe even opulently, decorated.

One of the best place to visit in Detroit. So much history connected to this house. The tour guide explained everything in details.
Beautiful Home, one of a kind!! Staff was very accommodating/friendly. Four Stars because of the lack of Automobiles designed by Edsel. If you are interested in Cars, this tour is not for you. Go to Fairlane, Henry's House. This is a Women's Tour!
I've enjoyed every visit. The tour is amazing, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. I finally purchased a membership this year and the extra benefits are great. I love walking my dog on the grounds and also go to the cove by boat. It's so relaxing. Great "to do" when friends come visit Michigan. History buff or if you just need some relax time, this is a must! 5 stars!!!
Otherwise a beautiful place, but today in story time they had more than 50 people in a medium size conference room, kids were sitting shoulders to shoulders. They normally do such a good job with their kids program, but today the standards were a bit low.
The grounds are gorgeous.

We are from out of town, and came purposely to Grosse Pointe Shores to tour the Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate. We were not disappointed. The guided tour brought to life this exquisite family home. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend visiting this historic site.
Always a pleasure to visit!
A tour of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford house is a glimpse inside American royalty. It's beautifully maintained with much of the original furnishings. Most of the art works are good quality reproductions because the priceless originals have been donated to museums or sold to help with the maintenance of the home. The docents do a very good job of bringing the family and their relationships to life. I think you'll enjoy a tour of the home and grounds. Don't miss the Playhouse built for Josephine (the only daughter) by her grandmother as her 7th Birthday present.
As a visitor it was rather pricey. To be a resident of the area the pricing is more reasonable. The tour itself was restricted to a smaller portion of the house than I thought it was going to be. It was still a good experience.
I came here on a school field trip and it was very informative and enjoyable. A great local attraction and thing to do if you are in the area. It is very large and the tours are very cool. I would recommend coming if you get the chance.
Went to a family brunch for a friend who just got married and it was great. Not sure if there is a fee to get in or not as I was part of a private party. But everything was great and the staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Went for the Christmas nights. Very nicely decorated, inside and out!
Couldn't go in the house or other out buildings but to see the grounds around the property is absolutely awesome to see!
Very nice. Needs to advertise better. To get more people. Beautiful gardens.
We toured the elegant Edsel and Eleanor Ford House last summer and was overwhelmed with its beauty. Edsel was the only son and descendant of Henry Ford. Sadly Edsel died of stomach cancer in his early 40's, his last desire was to walk his only daughter down the aisle on Jan. 2nd, 1943 while still able. It is comprised of a magnificent 87 acres on the lake. While here you will want to check out the copy of Vincent Van Gogh's painting of the Postman Joseph Roulin; the original was donated by their daughter Dody to the Detroit Art Museum where it is valued at over $ 100 million! The Ford Family has donated millions to the community over the years, with Edsel's descendants still running the Ford Motor Company. Many other paintings are originals. I wonder how much the wine cellar is worth alone. The US Flag was the one from Robert Byrd's Artic Expedition that Edsel financed. I especially enjoyed seeing the Great signed photo from Silent Film Stars Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford. Mary signing as Merry Picked a Ford! Too cool!

Wow, what big beautiful grounds! The house was a mansion. I loved the live tour.
I'm not completely into history or the Ford family, but my husband is which is why I went. The tour of the home is well done and interesting. The grounds are very pretty. There are some great pieces of art inside the home. Currently the pool and the garage are under renovations and will be really neat once done. You do walk outside at the end of the tour, so bring an umbrella or rain jacket if it could rain (we weren't told this). It was decent way to occupy a couple of hours while in the area for vacation.
Loved it! What a great way to spend a day with a family! It was listed online that museum opens at 10am, but, in fact, it's just a visitor's center hours, museum opens at noon. It's ok though, there are plenty of things to see in a visitor's center and plenty walks to take around the grounds. Edsel and Eleanor Ford house was one of the most interesting museums I have been to recently. Loved their house and couldn't stop admiring the playhouse they had built for their daughter. Wonderful stroll through the gardens. It is such a beautiful estate!!!! Highly advise to go visit!
Absolutely beautiful historical property. Try the season pass!
It goes without saying that the place is amazing and most of the people are friendly however this is not a place i’d ever take my kids again.. at least not the tour Here’s a list of things they were told not to do whisper stretch look down look around lift leg off ground be 2 steps behind the group speak unless you’re spoken to touch the rope brush up against the rope walk side by side ( only in a straight line) it’s hard to teach a history lesson to children when they are treated like criminals right when they walk in the door
Always wanted to check out the House was expecting your 1921 house and was very surprised. The Art Deco bedrooms were very unexpected and along with family room very modern for the time. I don’t think there are many other buildings in the US with a really stone roof that recently had to be all taken off and redone due to the much harder winters in Michigan. It’s really great to have a place so significant and fully funded to be able to restore and upkeep it to original condition. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It’s too bad he didn’t live longer, Ford might have been a different corporation. Very worthwhile to see and visit.
Nina was a fantastic docent. The house is beautiful. The tour was so much fun. Thank you, Nina.
Really neat. Took the tour. Ate at the Cotswold Cafe
The place is great. The food at the restaurant is awful. ????
Very beautiful grounds and buildings, with the historical essence preserved.

My family and I visited for the 2015 Christmas tour. The guided part of the tour lasted approximately one hour then we were free to walk the grounds and explore after that. Whether you're into history, art or architecture, there is plenty to see. Our guide appeared a bit rushed, but we were a "large" group of about 12 guests. The guide did a great job of keeping everyone engaged, even my 10 and 7 year old sons. All of us want to return in the spring when we can see the landscaping and walk the grounds further. Fans of Downton Abbey may find it interesting (or sad) to see where some of the wood paneling and fireplaces ended up after so many of the British estates were dismantled and sold off.
It was a lovely event space and museum.
We didn't get to spend much time here but the visitors center is great.
Wonderful Ford estate on 83 acres. We had a great 1 hour tour of the house, and were then able to wander the estate at our leisure to view the pool house, garden, playhouse. Highly recommend.
If you have the opportunity to visit, I would highly recommend paying a few dollars extra for the premium tour. Rather than just looking at the art, furniture, etc they went into great detail about the family and how they lived. And the staff was wonderful! We arrived a few minutes late and they went out of their way to accommodate us since this special tour us only offered once a day. A fascinating glimpse into history!

Great night out to see the DSO under the stars. Such a wonderful place to have a concert! DSO was fabulous as usual, not to mention the fireworks to finish off the evening.
Enjoyed walking around on the property, but the tour was not so pleasant. You have to be in the group, which means 20-30 people have to squeeze in a tiny space on a hot, humid day, and there is no AC in the house. I understand this is for some security reason, but would suggest limiting the size of each tour. Also there are just so many rules, including you can not be 2 steps behind everybody, which makes you nervous while taking the tour. I have been to many mansion tours, this one was by far the most strict in terms of what you can not do.
Very nice ????
We had a great time here. It's a very interesting house with a great mix of medieval architectural pieces and mid-century modern interior and the grounds are so very nice with old growth trees lining meticulous landscaping. It's a great walk around on a nice day and you could pack a lunch and have your own little picnic in an incredible perfectly manicured yard/old-growth forest, walk through the garden or check out the fully plumbed, electrified and appointed play house for the (once) little girl. In the spring, they do a little things like "Tea with the Queen" and I do believe they even have some auto shows in the grounds, so it might be good to see what they've got coming up of interest to you. This is a great place to meet friends or family and doing a little walking around or getting great family photo's on the grounds.
Had a fabulous lunch on the patio, overlooking Ford's Cove. The new restaurant The Continental is located at the Henry Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores. Our server Jake, was very attentive.

Really neat if you get a chance to go in

We went on a rainy Sunday afternoon. We had the whole house to ourselves. This meant we had all of the tour guides at our disposal to ask questions or tell us cool facts about this and that. I'd go again on a sunny day to walk the grounds. We also went to the restaurant on the property. It a beautiful dining room but the food was nothing special.
This is an amazing lakefront estate of the prominent family of American entrepreneurs. Recommended to see how they lived.
Beautiful quiant home. Amazing views from all of the rooms in this home. Grounds are gorgeous and sprawling. Decorated beautifully for Christmas. Looking forward for another tour with a different season.
Weekday
Amazing house! So much art & history! Will definitely visit again!
What a fun afternoon with friends. We recently visited for the holiday tour and were not disappointed. Before we even arrived, I had messaged the staff with a question regarding our ticket purchase and they were extremely fast to respond and sorted it out instantly. Then when we arrived at the visitor center, the staff greeted us and gave us a map to tour the grounds which we did before the home tour. We walked ourselves through the playhouse (which is SO adorable), past the gardens, and then around the back yard of the mansion, which was beautiful to see the lake covered in ice. The tour lasted about an hour and our docent was so knowledgable. I've been many times before but this trip stood out as the best. I can't wait to go back.
I am 56, born and raised here and while I have visited the Dearborn residence through the years this is my very first time here. Quite the beautiful stroll across the grounds and will be returning to tour the insides once available. Cannot believe it took so long to visit and sight see but I am SOOO very glad I finally did.
Being a big fan of Ford, on a day trip to Detroit, I decided to stop by and pay this home a visit. When you arrive you are directed to the former greenhouse. At the greenhouse there is a restaurant as well as gift shop and place for you to purchase your tour tickets. You have to purchase a ticket to the guided home tour in order to see inside the home. You can also just walk the grounds for a fee of $5 but it's at your own pace, which is nice. Once you purchase your ticket you are given the option of walking to the home, or waiting for a shuttle bus to take you. We chose to walk as we had 30 minutes to kill and it was a very nice day out. When you walk to the house you walk along a man made cove that was made by Edsel Ford when he was alive and lived in the home. This leads you to Lake St. Claire as well as the home. It was nice today as we were the only ones on the 12pm tour. We were greeted by our guide, explained the rules (don't touch, don't take pictures, etc). Our guide was very, very knowledgeable about the history of the home, as well as the family. Room by room you are guided (only the rooms that the family used, not the servant quarters) given the history, and seeing the amazing detail in the home. The architecture is amazing, the décor is original and stunning. The views of Lake St. Claire are amazing! The tour is 45 minutes long on average and then you are free to roam the grounds. The additional buildings on the grounds (power house, garage, play house, etc) are open to walk through. Those take just a matter of minutes. All in all this place is amazing, and if you love architecture, history, and stunning details this is a must visit if in the Detroit area.
Up to 10 min
Always a wonderful place to visit, especially at holiday season. Plan for at least an hour for the tour. Getting tickets on line is better since tours do sell out since limited number of spots. If you get a membership you can bring 1 guest and it will pay for itself in 2 visits
Beautiful home and location I the lake. The staff were all very kind. It tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Amazing and historical place. Went for Christmas time and enjoyed the wealth of knowledge shared by the employees/volunteers! Great for any history buff or lover of fine architectural and interior design!
Starry Nights was great. But with more planning, it could be pulled together much better. It's an eclectic light show, lacking a theme.
It's fun to walk thru with the dog but not much else going on that is open to the public.
We went for the Winter Wonderland tour! An after hour, strolling the grounds and house freely. The grounds were lovely except for the bright LED light displays, it didn't flow with the other lights too well but still a magical setting. The house altho not an guided tour there was many tour guides in each room and throughout the home if you had question, it gave more of a homey atmosphere being able to stroll through each room at one's pleasure. All in all a true Gem of Detroit and a must during the Holidays.
Yes
H&E house is human scale and more appealing than Meadowbrook.
Beautiful property
Beautiful just go you won't regret it
Gorgeous estate! We came for the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society Pooch Prance 2019! It's such a beautiful place to walk and enjoy the scenic views!
A beautiful, well groomed, house and grounds previously owned by automotive aristocracy. Perfectly maintained. A real pleasure to visit.

Beautiful Grounds ,
Love the Beautiful grounds. Have a great time rain or shine, every year listening to the DSO and watching fireworks.
Very interesting and beautiful grounds.
Historic mansion. Beautiful grounds and a restaurant. Reservations higjly recommended.

Well worth visiting in daylight and after dark. The new visitor's center adds museum-quality displays to the already impressive experience of seeing the house and grounds.
A beautiful and elegant historic place to experience!
First class visitors center unlike any I have experienced. Great friendly staff available for any questions.
The land is so beautiful. If you get a membership you can walk on the property every day. I found there is a ‘bird island’ created by the Ford family. So gorgeous. It reminds you how beautiful the world can be!
Its OK. If you ever been on Rhode Island or Europe, this house is nothing super special. Good bones architecture, but misses Ford had mediocre taste for furniture, style and colors....as well as lightning (she liked some candle light) . So house is super dark even with all lights on. You barely can see panels and collections.Other then that she was one great lady :) So a tour of the house is ok, if you decide to go, then go for a longest one, because you are NOT coming back. Grounds are not beautiful, no flower beds and poor garden, I am sure it used to be different while misses Ford was alive. So to say - use your imagination while you are there.
This place is extravagant and the tour guides are phenomenal. I am excited to see the place after the updates and restoration they've done this winter!
Very good on detail very friendly and very helpfulgood place to step outside of your box and do something different and learn a little history about cars
Fantastic tour. Stevie the docent was great. Gorgeous place.
Always such a beautiful venue for the DSO. Nothing like live Symphony music Outdoors. Always magical as it becomes darker and the house is backlit. Will continue to go to this venue year after year.
This is a beautiful home situated in Lake St. Clair. Edsel and Eleanor Ford built and lived in the home until their deaths—Edsel in 1943 and Eleanor in 1976. We did the premium tour which included most of the rooms on the first floor, the upstairs bedrooms, some rooms on the third floor and parts of the basement. There are beautiful grounds where you may walk, as well as a lagoon and pool, pool house and play house (locked when we were there).
Very beautiful estate off of the water. The staff here were all wonderful and knowledgeable and it was very interesting. If you are visiting michigan this should definitely be on your to do list!
Weekend
Went on the premium tour and really enjoyed it. They don't really get into the relationship that Edsel had with his father.
Wonderful visit to see the new Visitor Center and exhibits, plus a hike around the reopened Bird Island. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an outdoor experience on the east side.
It was beautiful walking around in the middle of all the lighting
Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. Safe and secure

Beautiful architecture and grounds. The tour inside the home is very nice. The tour guide was informative and seemed to be educated well on pieces and history of the home.
Had a wonderful time with Terry at the Ford House tour today. He was upbeat, happy, interesting and very knowledgeable. Lori Pica
Beautiful home and grounds. Worth the trip.
Weekend
Inspiring ! ???? ???? ????????
Didnt actually make it in. They told me I needed to come at open and purchase tickets for later that day and that i couldn't purchase for the next day...two trips out od my way makes no sense. Regardless, if thats policy then thats policy. The loss of stars comes from the general rudeness of all three employees I met. Each treated me with their own brand of annoyance, arrogance, and general lack of basic manners.
Beautiful home. Nice to visit and take in the scenery.
Beautiful home and grounds along Lake St Clair
Lovely grounds & historic home right on Lake St. Clair.
Beautiful Estate that houses some of the most incredible one of a kind art pieces that I've ever seen(outside a museum).
They have sniveling worms posted in every room to tell you to cover your face "over your nose". There's no mandate, most folks are vaccinated, there's no reason to be doing that. A man there had a disability and they dragged him out for not being able to comply. Do NOT support this garbage business.
Glad we went. Very nice place to visit.
Awesome experience
Beautiful historic home and grounds. The volunteers and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. A must see if you’re in the area!
Great place to take pictures and walk around to eat up a couple hours during the summer!

What an experience getting to tour such a beautiful historic home of the Fords. Amazing architecture that was years ahead of its time when built. Definitely recommend if you’re a fan of historical homes
Awesome place to wander and walk around. It would even be more interesting with inside tours
Beautiful house and grounds. Knowledgeable staff.
If you love history, there is no way you could ever get enough of the estate..

This is an amazing space, especially during the Detroit Symphony Orchestra performances. For two consecutive nights in the summer, the DSO plays at the Ford House and it’s incredible. 2019 was the 10th year, and hundreds of people come to watch, most bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and food for a picnic ????. Some people bring their boats, yachts, and kayaks and drop anchor just off shore. A highlight is the firework showcase synchronized with the DSO’s final piece.

Beautiful home and grounds. Have been here several times and always enjoyed it. A must see if you are in the area and enjoy beautiful homes and history.
Woh!!! It’s a wonderful and a great place to visit in Michigan, Beautiful mansion located near the Lake side and in the wild beauty of Estate is a feast to our eyes,We’ll maintained , it’s so neat and clean, have food court and parking and from the ticket counter entrance near by you will get transportation to the Mansion, but you should have to walk whole the way to there to enjoy the beauty,
Had a terrific time with the family
The house and grounds are beautiful! Its like taking a step back in time!
Went to the Holiday house tour. Well worth the money and time. Staff was knowledgeable about the family and the house. Majority of items were all oroginals .
Nifty piece of metro Detroit history and lovely architecture.
Beautiful home and grounds and impeccably preserved. It was a nice visit
A wonderful look back from the 20's to the 70's.
Went to Starry Nights last night and cannot believe they charge $20! A walk around a neighborhood would have had more lights. All they had was a handful of trees lit up and 3 colored igloos with some projections. The entire field you walk around was empty. To add insult it was our second attempt drive 45 minutes earlier in December only to have the night canceled die to winds after we arrived. We also had tickets to tour the house for 4oclock . Arrived early for the tour only to be told they canceled 4 o’clock tours and proceeded to just give us our money back. We saw more lights on many houses driving home. This was a complete disappointment.
Great walk through history. Engaging docents. Beautiful environment.
The tours are awesome but the charity events are even greater I always do them but marked and the pooch pants and get to walk the grounds of the Ford House the grounds of this historic building are absolutely beautiful and I would recommend to anybody visiting Michigan

My fiancé and I were scheduled to take engagement photos here. Come the day of our appointment, it was raining and cold. They were so amazing and able to accommodate us to a different date for our engagement photos. Amazing service and very nice staff.
Beautiful setting on the water w rich history
I think everyone needs to do this tour at least once. It's a great experience and opportunity to get a glance into life from a different time. And if you appreciate old architecture, you'll really enjoy this.
Beautiful day for the eyes on design show

Simply amazing. If you love history you will love the house tour
Nice to Visit
Public holiday
Just simply amazing place. I feel like I'm walking with Mr Ford him self when I'm there. I like the history of it just everything. I recommend if you are from out of town you check it out. Also in the fall the leafs are crazy!. Great place to see history. Awesome glad it is so maintained and groomed I recommend it to my friends all the time. Good job.
Great docents, remarkable house.
Very nice grounds. Nice area.
Weekend
Visiting The Ford House was a really interesting experience to remember. We all enjoyed the tour and walking the grounds of the estate.
Fun to walk around. The bench by the lake is my favorite spot. FYI, the coffee at the Cafe is outrageously good.
Architecture is phenomenal. Some of the rooms were updated in the 1930s and designs are far ahead of their time. Amazing mansion and I am grateful it's open to the public. Christine was our tour guide and her knowledge of the history of the family and house is excellent. You can also walk the grounds to see the playhouse (adorable), the pool house with a squash court, and the rose garden. Loved it.

Great venue and cool historic site.
At this place, I can experience the beauty of the architecture and great lake shore scenery. I like to walk around the house and the shore occasionally. This place is healing me. I appreciate Eleanor's will for benefits of the public.
The whole family enjoyed the holiday lights.
The grounds are just beautiful. We are here for the Detroit Symphony concert and fireworks
Staff very knowledgable and friendly. Plenty of parking and shuttle on a bus to the estate. Lots of staff members present and being watchful of the property. Guided tour about 1 hr and was very informative. In fair and good weather you can walk around outside as much as you want and see the view of Lake St.Clair, the swimming pool, the powerhouse for the property, the daughters play house, views from all sides of the mansion. Was very nice.
Beautiful grounds, the lights were very nice.
Great tour. Beautiful
Nice historical house. Knowledgeable staff.
Fantastic! What a gem of history. Check out the library. They have many first editions!
Closed for entrance for general public. Administration on gate said that they probably open in 3 week for general public.
