A great place to learn about Elgin history and heritage. We recently visited the new Agriculture Centre, it was exciting to see how much farming has changed over the years.

I been to the Backus-Page House a few times now and have found the staff very informative and friendly. We have Re-enacted the Civil War time period here, the living history of the (1860's). While you're here go down the street and visit the Old Church and Cemetery, very interesting indeed. The amount of History in this area make it well worth the trip to the Backus-Page House. Check it out!????????☝

We went for a Jacobite reenactment of the Battle of Culloden. It was very well done; the actors effectively conveyed the horrors of war. We took a tour of the house afterwards. We chatted with a few of the people there (my guess is they were all volunteers) and they were very friendly and knowledgeable about both the Backus-Page history and the history of that time in general. It's a bit of a drive from St Thomas, but worth it.

The place is a gem! A must visit and be sure to walk around the grounds and trails. Just up the road a bit, a short walk, is a very cool cemetery that has a special guest hurried there, Col. Talbot. Anyway, a great place and a nice drive out there.

The trails are amazing !! The history aspect have been restored and a must visit for the family to enjoy learning of our past.

The house has been beautifully restored. Keeping as much of its original interior demonstrates the quality of older material used with the window panes and floors, the plaster walls and ceiling as well with some signs of its age, they still show the quality of durability for 160 years of age. ???????? Backus Page Home & Property is a major gift representing our history. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to restoring and sharing it with visitors and fellow Canadians alike!!* I'm looking forward to being there July 28th and 29th for the re-enactment of the war of 1812 that took place as it went through the property.

Was only here for an outdoor wedding. Really nice scenery and backdrops for photos. But limited facilities, poor outdoor lighting, and no place to park but on the side of the road, so if you have an outdoor event you may need to walk kind of far.
