Lots of work going on, improving the area, so if you're planning on biking along the canal this year well don't. Totally uneven terrain, basically if you want to do the trail with a DIRT BIKE then its good, otherwise wait till next year when its done. I do the 15 klm regularly along this trail 30 odd times during the summer months, won't happen this year.

We took the bike path from Chambly to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (20 km, linear) all along the canal. The path is mostly well-maintained, alternating between gravel and asphalt, mostly flat. There were a few rest stops and picnic areas along the way.
