We offer you the reviews of real people who use the products of Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum (Museum) in the territory close to Cambridge (Canada).
At the present this firm has a rating of 4.6 stars over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is almost the top, and it is based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the rating is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to set evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
Absolutely fantastic content inside and out, but the hours are abysmal for families. Makes it nearly impossible to visit outside of Summer.
Love the Heritage Village, go on a weekend and you’ll get a taste of the 1914 recipes. Well curated. Indoor portion has great interior design, and also very informative.
Lovely museum and Heritage Village (houses from 1812 onward, even though the period time is 1912 or so). Friendly volunteers, knowledgeable in whatever they do - Bob the Gardener is awesome & has helped my partner and me out many times, and never gets grumpy or impatient with our questions. It's a great getaway from 'city' life, with lots of things to do, and places for kids of all ages to run & play & learn. I do recommend hiking or supportive shoes, as there is dirt, graven, and wood planks to walk on. Also animals do wander and leave "gifts" for the unwary ????. They offer a family pass that is cheaper than two separate adult passes, and you get an additional 10% off of food/merchandise and other paid events. I think the family pass also includes Josef Schneider Haus and McDougall Cottage, but don't quote me on that.
Very busy on special event days so if you don't like crowds stay away on those days
Great day for family and alone. Weekdays are nice as it's not so busy, you can ask lost of questions. Kids love seeing the animals. The Jubilee park is great for a picnic. Can be a little buggy however.
Great small museum with a really friendly staff. Also had a very nice turn of the century village with living history guides throughout. Wonderful visit.
Nicer place, nice surroundings, cool and silent
The kids party was a little boring
During summer days, the historical village offers fun activities every half hour. Their costumed interpreters are very knowledgeable and relate very well to my kids. Often, the interpreters invite the kids to participate in an activity they are doing. The museum is great too. My five year old likes that there are toy stations throughout, while my ten year old loves the fashion history exhibit. They also have a craft area, play train set, and small restaurant that are great when the kids need a break or I need a coffee!
Why is this named after Ken Seiling? it loses a star just because of him. TAKE THAT KEN!!!
Lots of stuff to do for all ages. We always learn something new.
Very nice!!!!
Great Place to discover
Great venue????
Good place for kids.
Specifically went to the museum to see the exhibit Trailblazing - Women in Canada since 1867. This exhibit was really well done with videos, interactive displays and artifacts. While I was there I also visited the Heritage Village which is always fun to wander around in. Overall, I spent three hours there and the price of $11(adult admission) was very reasonable.
We went to see the City on Edge and ended up discovering a section on the music about music. It was great!!!!!
Great with kids all ages!
Kids had a great summer outing in the old village.
Great day out for the family
This is a great place to learn the history of the waterloo region. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in history of the region.
Great way to spend an afternoon! It's not just a museum, but also a pioneer village, complete with people dressed in period clothes.
My kids loved it.
This is a great place to go with the family. Both the museum and village are quite nice
(Translated) Excellent place to know the history of the Watreloo / Kitchener region. Requires walking and free parking (Original) Lugar excelente para conhecer a historia região de Watreloo/Kitchener. Exige caminhar e estacionamento gratuito
Marvelous resource with a variety of interactive and informative features.
Love this place! Heritage Village was great. We love all the activities they offer that are included in admission.
Work
Beautiful, rich Museum. Must visit if you have not already had the opportunity. Informative and very interesting!
Very interesting museum which also focus on telling story of the KW area, and always has activities for families.
Nice
Cool place, lots of tri-city history. Great venue for events or weddings too!
Lovely exhibits, lots of fun. The concessions were really reasonably priced, and we learned a lot about local history. Great way to spend an afternoon, we highly recommend it! They even have a staff member engaging kids in a scavenger hunt type game that's really effective. Fun!
Every time great event there! And now electronic car charger was there.
Terrific place for families to explore
Well curated. The permanent exhibit is very nice, and the temporary exhibits are engaging. The Doon Pioneer village is always a hit with kids!
Museum & Doon heritage Villages
My graduating Visual Merchandising class from Conestoga College held our year end show here and it makes for a great space to rent out for events. The museum itself is good and educational on the tri city area!
Had a great time in there
Fantastic place to learn about local history. Clean, friendly staff and a beautiful building.
I like the interpreters at this museum, it also has a lovely gift shop and nice modern building with regional displays. The village part is well done, and best seen when the blacksmiths are working.
This is a great facility. The main museum has some great artifacts and information about Waterloo Region and Southern Ontario. My favourite is the display about when electricity came to the region. They have done a good job of selecting just the right artifacts and images to bring you back in time to the excitement of the era. You can also see a range of technology going back a number of decades. In the rotating exhibit room you can see a new exhibit every couple of months. They are generally well done. But four things that make this place really stand out: 1) Every time we have gone, there are a number of tables in the main hall that feature crafts for kids. 2) The demonstrations in the theatre are great and often interactive. 3) The pioneer village is not to be missed, especially the train station and blacksmith (walking through this area is beautiful and relaxing, and really gives you a sense of what it would be like to be in the region in the 1800s). 4) The membership provides an outstanding value if you plan to take the family more than a couple of times. You get entrance not only to the Regional Museum but some other select Region-managed museums around town.

Visitors to this well appointed museum will come away with a renewed understanding of Waterloo Region. Historical developments which shaped the area's growth are covered in detail.
Great location for a meeting
Informed staff, interactive and engaging!
Lantern Walk was beautiful, the guides were pleasant and informative. Impromptu caroling on the horse drawn wagon ride was fun.
Its good place to visit with the kids U can eveb organize birthday party here
Really great for local and interesting artifacts. They had an awesome dinosaur display and lots of fun stuff for kids to do while it was on. Great programs for kids.
Good
It was excellent. Great place for kids to spend time!
The 1914 exhibit was amazing!! Felt very authentic walking through the village. I've also had the priveledge of part taking in a couple of their registered courses in relation to gardening. I particularly enjoyed the seed saving course and the collaboration with seeds of diversity. Thank you for offering eye opening and educational experiences
We love this place. Have had a membership for a while. It’s has great events and programs and the exhibits are wonderful.
Very family friendly museum.
Unmissable experience of life in 1914.????????
This is an excellent museum. Went there last summer and walked through the inside and outside parts. Took well over two hours abs was great to know some local history in the area. I recorded setting aside half a day to go through it all. Staff was awesome and very helpful in the pioneer village. Take lots of pictures
My kids loveeee it!
do you have littlefoot and his friends from the land before time in your wonderful fantastic museum.
So many amusing activities!!!! Cookie decorating, minigolf, ......... Staffs are so friendly!!!! A place worthy of visiting!!!!
Was fun. The kids learned a lot. The staff were great and really tried to teach what life wss like back in 1914.
Fantastic experience. Phenomenally curated and exceedingly educational. Paired with the Doon Heritage Village it is a great day out for all ages. Outer building is gorgeous. I was amazed at this out of the way gem. A must for everyone!
The 1914 historic village is a treasure. The staff and volunteers are so great and the village is such a fascinating look at life in the region in 1914.
A wonderful family day out.
I love this venue. Been there with my sister's family a few weeks ago for an event and the staff was amazing, facilities where beautiful and the event was amazing!
Great place for the kids to play and explore local history, do arts and crafts, and explore the rotating exhibits
A re encontre with the pass. Famly activity. Beautiful views and fun
Great museum. The dino exhibit is fantastic and fun for the whole family! Truly lovely staff!!
I really enjoyed the wreath making seminar my mom and I went to.
Very knowledgeable interpreters and very informative material indoors.
Great museum but only local history
Very fun and knowledge full experience!
The Museum is always a great experience dir the whole family.
Very good museum for the kids, early 20th century history
Farmyard animals, historical buildings moved to this location from the surrounding area, a train and train station, and a museum with excellent displays of interesting artifacts. Great afternoon for the kids.
Visited the place couple weeks ago. All buildings closed. Main building opened only first floor, but second floor closed
Interesting
We loved this place! A must see in KW.
first step for an up-and-comming city like KW
Really glad I took the time to go..very inexpensive
Very nice! My grandkids absolutely love coming here
Nice place. Was there for a All Councillors meeting for the Waterloo Region.
Enjoyed the exhibit today.
Amazing place with very awesome and professional staff.
The museum is very nice. They always have a special exhibit on display and the old farm and pioneer village is great. My kids love to see the blacksmith at work and visit the animals at the barns. Great place to spend an afternoon.
Excellent experience for my son and myself
Excellent experience for my son and myself
Excellent place.
Great place.Helpful staff
Good family place to visit
Great place to bring the kids and to explore our Regions history.
We have been here in every season and it's always a slightly different experience as the historic homes and buildings represent what would have been happening at that time of year. A highly enjoyable way to learn about local history and it's been good to watch a growing representation of the Indigenous people who were here in addition to colonial settlement. The current Going Places exhibit was really interesting.
Great place well designed
Eh
Congratulations! Immigration Partnership for Ten years working Settle , Work and Below immigrants I. Our loving KW COMMUNITY! Remarkable work!
Village is especially neat.
Loads of friendly staff all about- really well laid out so that even with many visitors it doesn't feel crowded. 2 hours breezes by with my group of 9-12 year old boys
Had a blast at this awesome Museum, the multiple Museum staff were so helpful and made all the exhibits come to life and fun to explore. Great place to spend some time with friends family or even just learning on your own

A very nice place worth to see, and the staff is very welcoming and helpful.
We took our 3 and 6 year old here to spend some fun time taking in the Dino exhibit. The display is quite small and there wasn't anything to engage the 3 year old (who is in LOVE with dinosaurs!). Our 6 year old was kept busy for about 10 mins then everyone was ready to go home. Sadly it was a bit underwhelming.
This is a super fabulous place to take a step back in time. We had a wonderful visit even during COVID.
Very well maintained and preserved. Good place for a day with your children.
A little known gem. Well-designed 1800's - 1900's museum of the Waterloo area, with rotating exhibits (the Beer exhibit was great!). A turn of the century "town" with local residents who really know their stuff, adds to the ambiance. I sincerely hope parents can pry their zombies from their mini-box music devices long enough to take them to appreciate a simpler, stress-free, lifestyle.
I keep waiting for the train to move maybe pass thru the museum, but it never happens no matter how long I wait
It's a wonderful experience for all ages. The Museum itself is educational and fun to explore but then you step outside and you're returned to a farmong community in the year 1914. Period dressed employees invite you to enter different homes/buildings. The Blacksmith is busy demonstrating his work. I'm looking forward to returning again. Make sure to view their events calendar.
If one wants a piece of history for Canada, we should visit this museum. It's got artifacts displayed inside the building the fashion of the early years. It is the only Museum I 've seen so far wherein they wrote in the wall for everybody to read, the country of origin of the immigrants to Canada, and it is quite amazing. I believed Canada is truly a melting pot country of the world. I felt so proud. Another feature of this Museum is the presence of the first train that service Waterloo. This train is located outside the building of the Museum. Walking around nearby there are several display of houses, stores and etc, depicting how a community looks like during the pioneering years. We tried riding in the horse driven vehicle. This place is a must to see for everybody. I am truly happy that I visited this Museum.
Historic and rustic village which depicts the lives of people in the early 1900's. Good for a visit, involves a bit of walking.
Loved it
Always a great experience
great place
Went to a pre schooler workshop about gardening. The instructors were great and very patient with the kids. The hour was just dynamic enough to keep them interested. Story time, hands on activities, and getting dirty inside and outside. We even walked around the village after. I would go back.
Great exhibits and fun experience. My son had a blast at the dinosaur exhibit.
Beautiful modern building with fascinating exhibits. If you are a KW local it is a must-see. The temperary exhibit on changing Kitchener's name from Berlin is cool!
Great!! Really interesting Interpreters made our visit 5*
Great events and buildings, it's like travelling back in time. My son loves coming here and the price is great
Definetly a day trip/activity. Incredible!
Good for kids and adults. Deep history of kw here. Not out of this world fun or anything but good place to kill an afternoon with kids for cheap in kw.
We've had a membership here for several years and it's worth every penny! Doon Heritage Village is beautiful, peaceful and the best place for a stroll on the weekend.
Great museum. The heritage village is definitely worth a visit
Interesting to see some of the history and the people who helped create the Region! A welcoming place for children with lots of exhibits and interesting fun facts! Some old machines and relicts! Interesting how they mix the old and the new of the region
Beautiful!
One of the beautiful spot in the whole WATERLOO. Don’t forget to walk in the the pioneer park as well, it’s just across the street.
Nice place.
Small museum, worth checking out especially in summer when you can access the village. The food place here is absolutely HORRENDOUS. Eat before you go or bring snacks because you will be bitterly disappointed.
A place where you took a look on the daily life of the people in the area.
Lots of interesting things to discover here.
Great museum.. Kids love to visit here
Not much to see here.
Finished our long weekend off here with the family. We had a blast going through the village and the museum. The price is great. The kids loved it and I had fun. I was very impressed that they had stuff to keep the kids busy, eye spy games and toys, through out the museum. Would recommend this place to others.
Great place to take the kids! They have a fully functional replica 1914 village.
A great place to visit with interesting items and events for all walks of life. I found it very amusing and informative, so did my family! The staff are extremely friendly and would love to help with any questions. One will learn a lot about history of Waterloo Region by visiting this museum, in a fun way of course!
I live in the area meanwhile this was my first visit. Inexpensive, educational, informative and the staff/actors did a fantastic job. Thank you
Live right around corner.
Prices are very reasonable, the main exhibit is surprisingly good and interesting, I highly recommend it, especially for locals. I went with my nephews to their "In the Dark" exhibit, nothing too impressive but still well worth the trip. The building itself is really nice and the staff is very helpful!
Staff were extremely kind and helpful with the room rentals fof our event, and the snack bar was very healthy and affordable.
Got a free admission from visiting Schneider House in the same week. Not large but contained an interesting set of historical collections, should be finished within 1~2 hours. The Doon Village to the back of the museum is highly recommended for visiting.
We love coming to the museum. The staff are very friendly and informative about exhibits and the buildings.
Really nice place to visit at anytime
The museum is well laid out and innovative with how they display information. I love the village the best though. People in period appropriate clothing will talk to you and take you through the houses and stores, explaining what life was like in KW's early years. It's an entertaining way to learn for any age.
Great place to go!! Always something new and exciting going on :)
It was nice and informative
Amazing museum with tons of neat artifacts and lots of local history. The outdoor recreation village is amazing, along with the small farm with animals.

Great place to take the kids.
Unmissable experience of life in 1914.????????
went here for a field trip for canadian war history. don't attend the same field trip if you have anxiety or ptsd. they have loud speakers that play gutshot sound effects and the employees were playing roles of soldiers, etc and sometimes shouted very loudly in your face. to be fair, they are just playing a role for the purpose of education however, it can be a little triggering to some.
Pioneer village and an interesting local museum.
Wonderful event venue. Great staff. Awesome for Weddings. Always look forward to playing there.
My kids enjoy exploring the new exhibits and craft tables. Love this museum!
Awesome place for kids and adults to learm about the history of Kitchener Waterloo.
Great interactive pioneer village, with knowledgeable staff. Stimulating indoor display too.
Went to the Great War event and it was neat walking around the museum seeing people wearing uniforms and clothing from that time period. Definitely want to go back and see more exhibits
Great modern facility which was simple to navigate with a stroller. The pioneer village is very well maintained and beautiful to walk through. A hidden gem!
So beautiful..it touch all of the past life details
Great for all ages great family trip.
Good displays of local history. A small village depicting life for the early settlers.
Great exhibits inside and out. Costumed staff in the village were great and added so much to the experience.
Perfect to go during the Sumner. Recreation of a small town. Great for the kids. Loved it.
Nice display of artifacts from the region.
Great experience for our family corporate event. The staff onsite was friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Highly recommended!
My son loves dinosaurs so...
(Translated) pretty pioneer village (Original) mooi pioniers dorp
Interesting museum. A great place to take newcomers and our visiting relatives. Great place to distract the Kia for a few hours. Staff was helpful and very polite.
Nice and quiet. Good programs for children
A bit expensive but was great place to spend time
Great local history exhibits
We went here yesterday and had a very nice afternoon with our three kids here. Today, we visited again for the Halloween activities. Very friendly staff and well-maintained equipment here. We will definitely take our kids here again.
Amazing time there with the kids
I love this place, but for kidlets, there’s not a ton of variety in the winter. It’s totally worth checking out a few times a year when they get new exhibits (they’re always super interactive and cool) but the regular collection likely won’t hold the attention of the smalls for too long. The train tracks are cool and the museum itself is beautiful. In the summer though, it’s a different story. The village is great, and the interpreters are all fantastic. Their membership is super reasonable and you only really have to go like, 3 times a year to make it worth your while, plus the membership is good for a whole bunch of other places too. Definitely a solid value for money.
If you want to learn the history of the Waterloo region, then it's the best place you can go. Good and informative stuff as well.
The museum it’s self was definitely a unexpected surprise. Definitely allot of effort and money to create a educational fun experience for everyone. The outdoors attractions pretty good, staff excellent.
I always have a great time here. I recommend getting here early because from 9 to 11 or later they are very empty and you can get personal tours of everything from the people in costume. Often times the houses have a treat or some interesting beverage to try when you visit. They have a horse and buggy ride and a myriad of other activities throughout the day to attend. There is an indoor section to enjoy but the outdoor town is where it's at. If you have kids I highly recommend it but it can also be enjoyed as an interesting and unique date activity.

Great price with friendly, caring staff.
We were on vacation staying with family who'd recently moved to the area. The Doon Village is amazing with people dressed in period costume. They were very informative and helpful. You will need a long time to wander around. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the rest of the village or museum due to torrential rain. However, when we return to Canada we will be coming back here, and have told our relatives about this wonderful museum. Highly recommended.
A beautiful museum for Waterloo region
Very nice spot to bring your kids.
Love this place! Tots time is the best.
My family loves visiting this museum. I purchase the membership every year as it's worth it! The best time to visit us from Spring to Fall as the village is also open during this time. But we still visit during the winter to participate in activities and see the temporary exhibits which are always fantastic and enjoyable for the whole family! Also, free parking is great! I gave 4 stars instead of 5 as I wish there was more to do during/see the winter months.
There are some really interesting temporary exhibits featured here. Walking around the village is also always a treat and very informative. Worth a visit if you're from the area or have connections there.
Great place to spend a Saturday morning. Lots of interactive things for the kids
Interesting to see some of the history and the people who helped create the Region! A welcoming place for children with lots of exhibits and interesting fun facts! Some old machines and relicts! Interesting how they mix the old and the new of the region
We loved the exhibits here and could not look at everything in the three hours we spent there. Both the museum and the village were very well designed and have lots to look at. The demonstrations in the village were also very enjoyable. We plan to come back to have another look.
Fantastic regional museum, featuring exhibits on local history. Enjoyed the transportation gallery! Nice facility, engaging staff, tremendous amount of information on exhibits.
I love that the guides of each building dress and explain all the different cultures around this season..
Attending play Forgiven /Forgotten, excellent!
Kids and adults of all ages would like going here. Many interactive things for everyone.
Such a fun place for adults and kids. The outdoor exhibit was amazing learning about the lifestyle back in the early 1900s. Bought a family membership and can't wait to visit again soon!
First time to visit. This is actually a cool place to visit and learn.
Good place for the family fun especially for kids.
Great family friendly facility. Love the kids programs on the weekends, the outdoor historical village, the charming gift shop and the visiting exhibits.
Great place to take the kids. The indoor exhibits are always cool, great local content, and the outdoor village is super cool
Went here for the ground water festival. I had no idea what to expect. Some staff was wonderful, some could use a lesson is customer service. The volunteers were all fabulous working the grounds. Only unfortunate thing was so many schools there at once, it would be great if they split the day to accommodate a few less schools in one stop. It was nice to see but needless to say I wont need to go back again
Great place
First time visiting - they had great crafts and hands on activities for the kids including Lego motor and programming kits, which the kids loved. They had a space exhibit in town with some pretty amazing experiment displays for testing out different space experiences including weightlessness, propulsion, and pressure. Adults enjoyed the Waterloo history pieces, which was neat for both visitors and residents to see. So many businesses started and ended here, the city just keeps on rolling with the punches. Would recommend, making sure you time your visit with an interesting exhibit or with a good activity schedule.
My kids asked almost every day of they can go back. They make learning fun.
Fun time in the village
An excellent spot for families. Around each exhibit area they even have toys for the wee ones to play with while the adults read the info on the exhibits. Lots to interest kids in the exhibits. Food offerings are decently priced too for a lunch outing.
Fantastic place to go learn about local history! The village is well kept and they always have interesting exhibits.
They had a cool exhibit on the T-Rex
Very well, staff were very nice. Worth it.
Had a tonne of fun at the Haloween function. Great time for the kids.
Hidden ???? great for families eventhough its small its very interesting
Nice open-air museum. Has a small indoor permanent exhibition on the history of Waterloo.
Always new exhibits to see. Yearly membership is a steal.
Amazing place and something new to learn
Amazing spot must see the village.
Great museum the first Toyota Corolla ever sold in Canada is in this museum.
Starry Nights was amazing.
We enjoy going here a few times a year for events, exhibits, or just a walk through the village. My son loves the craft tables that are always set up for the kids and the little train nook. The gift shop always has great toys and gifts.
Excellent place to visit with kids. Lots of hands-on activities and interactive displays.
A must-visit beauty in the Waterloo region. Shows what the region was like a 100 years ago. Presents British Canadian history. Upon paying the tolerably reasonable museum fee, you are given a map of the museum and the village, and instruction. Waterloo Region Museum: The museum itself is pretty small. Though the exhibitions it offers are great, they aren't enough. From the outside, the vibrant award-winning museum building looks stunning. Inside, in addition to the exhibits, it has free WiFi, gift shops, food stores and a theater. But, in my opinion, the main thing is the village. Doon Heritage Village: I'd recommend that you spend most of your time here, so come on a bright sunny day. Everybody will enjoy the village. There are old-fashioned houses and buildings, and there are dressed actors inside it. Besides lively greenery and an exhibited train, there is an actual river in the village (Schneider Creek), and though the river's pretty shallow and narrow, it completely surprised me.
Love the activities for kids. My boys LOVE the train!! We love the seasonal activities!
(Translated) Worth a detour to know the history of this area. The park contains buildings from the last century that can be visited. (Original) Vaut le détour pour connaitre l'histoire de ce coin. Le parc contient des édifices du siecles dernier que l'on peut visiter.
Good place to relax in good weather and sunshine.
Beautiful place with dedicated staff. I love the back into history feel and the horse drawn wagon ride was perfect. The walk through the town and set up in the houses was great and the animal and train exhibits were really exciting for the kids.
The place is really well kept. I wish the trails were a bit longer for hiking but the heritage section was very cool. The staff stayed in character which made for a good experience. I didnt get to check out the museum on this visit.
Interesting but not really worth the visit.
Beautiful building. Quality exhibits. Great service. A definite must see when visiting the KWC area.
Alright for a history museum
Great value nice village great steam machines!
We love it here. The family membership is a must if you are home with small children.
Nice place for kids and adults to learn about space
The Waterloo Regional Museum is a charming local heritage site, perfect for an afternoon of family fun or for an individual looking for a leisurely way to spend an afternoon. The museum takes hygiene seriously- in other words, is set up for a hassle-free experience that patrons of all sorts are bound to appreciate.
Fantastic regional Museum...loads of fun for kids and they learn a tone!
Our grandkids loved it . There were great informative display for the grandkids. They loved the pioneer village. The train engine was their favorites part.
A great place for our family to experience our history and learn in a unique setting. Lots of lovely staff that are super friendly.
A great place for our family to experience our history and learn in a unique setting. Lots of lovely staff that are super friendly.
Great place for the family lots to do and the exhibits change regularly so it lets you keep coming back again and again and see new stuff.
Awesome place to bring the kids. Educational, fun and very inexpensive.
A great museum. The main building was very nice, but it was the outside town , barns and buildings that made it really fun. The people were all in periods dress, well informed and very friendly. We loved our visit.
Nice building , clean, friendly staff. Prices are a bit high though for what they have to offer.
Amazing
Always friendly, helpful staff.
I really love the pioneer village, where a number of homes and buildings from the region have been relocated to bring back a glimpse of the region from 1912.
Low cost and educational for all ages
Nice place to spend the day and have some fun, I really enjoyed the tour... nice and friendly staff...
Always a great visit enjoyed the time spent there
I volunteered there and it was very fun lol
Fun lantern walk that sells out within 24 hours. Tasting, touring, singing....fun!
l enjoyed learning a lot about how people lived in the past.
Kids loved it. Always interesting to get a glimpse of the past.
A great mix of old fashioned history outside with a blend of old and new fun interactive exhibits inside.
Accompanied my daughters class on a girls trip here. Great information on early settlers and activities for the kids
(Translated) Very interesting and nicely presented (Original) Sehr interessant und schön aufgemacht
Lots of things to explore.
Lot of local history
Staff are very helpful and welcoming
Great set up wonderful staff loved the whole thing
Great museum and excellent heritage village
Excellent space for events. Terrific mesuem attached with ever changing displays. Wonderfull outdoor heritage village like stepping back in time. Full size locamotive on rails.
A family favorite
Kids absolutely love this spot. Educational with hands on components
Enjoyable, historical, I also enjoyed going to St. Jacobs and all the other shops in the town!
it was very funny.
Great experience
Main building special exhibit open as well as three buildings in Pioneer Village
We went for the christmas light tour. It was out 1st time and it was quite spectacular
My son loves it here
My kids who are ages 2, 4, 5 love coming to see the animals here. The employees are so friendly
Awesome place to take your kids for the day. The staff is well trained.
Very nice displays ut not totally open. Outside exhibits were not open. Should have given a reduction in thier fee if whole museum not totally open.
This museum is fairly new and a rather large museum. We easily spent an hour in the heritage village and over a couple hours in the museum indoors. The exhibits are well organized and nicely presented showcasing the town's history and development. Staff was super friendly and was kind enough to explain highlights of the exhibits. We easily spent 4 hours enjoying the village and museum exhibits. Highly recommended.
Pretty awesome place for the whole family. Go in the morning because you'll need all day to see it all!
Good place to spend time with family.
Fantastic museum and village. Staff was super friendly and talked to us explaining the heritage village and museum exhibits. The museum is a large open space collection of very nicely presented displays showcasing the town's history from early settlers to WWII to its modern technological and industrial innovations. I easily spent 4 hours here and wished I had more time to read all the exhibits in the museum. Highly recommended.
Lisa, Brie, Jenn and Sean and Rob, Wendy....all made this day fantastic. ..from Rocket launches, art work, balloons. Not to mention the museum itself. What a great day!
Great fun for the whole family reasonable prices and staff are courteous and knowledgeable
Kids love it here.
We had a birthday party here and they were organized and stress free
Museum is too small for the price we paid. I didnt get a chance to see the Doon village as it was closed on the weekend for the fall hours which doesnt make sense at all. How can u close ur main attraction on the weekends?
Went with the family! Had a great time. Very clean, very organized. Great for toddlers and children to interact and learn. The exhibit was about space and we learned lots of cool facts. They really made the experience enjoyable and kid friendly. I never knew learning could he this much fun lol. Great parking and lots of poke stops if you play pokemon
It takes you back in time! The two horses giving the ride around the area are so big, healthy and strong! The museum is really well organized too. Theres so much to learn in this place and it is really interesting especially for the kids, and even for people like me who are kids at heart. :) We were lucky to see a show wherein people reenact how people from before used to live and they perform duties the old way.
We absolutely love this musuem and visit often. Have introduced many family and friends to it as well. A great place for all ages. Their events are always well put together and a lot of fun.
Something for everyone, lots of great interactive things for kids, and the outdoor activities in the summer are great.
Great place for kids
On February 21st my friend and I visited the Waterloo Region Museum just off Huron road. It was our first time attending the museum. Before attending we went to the Waterloo Regions Museum’s website and planned our visit. The website itself was easy to navigate and even informed us of the recent road closure in the area. The building itself is beautiful and very modern. We were impressed with the overall accessibility of the museum. The ramps were not to steep and the stinks in the bathrooms had enough space under to fit a wheelchair. The only downside was the font on some of the displays as they were hard to read because of the location or size. However, the actual museum is so rich in the history of the Waterloo Region and even has a portion dedicated to soldiers from the region who had died in combat. The most interactive space in the building was the Wild Weather exhibit, it had different stations that you could play on screens or just learn about weather systems. It had station explaining tornadoes/hurricanes and even had a section that told you how to prepare for a disaster situation. It was educational for both children and adults and it's worth seeing. Though the museum has so many interesting facts and displays, the staff really made the experience, they were so helpful but also so knowledgeable about the local history. They truly take that extra step to create a long-lasting experience. The associate I spoke too knew all about the summer programming. Specifically, the train they have located outside and the historic houses located on site. Unfortunately, we were not able to go inside them but from the outside, they were quite beautiful. I want to return in the summer months to enjoy the full experience and I would recommend it to others trying to deepen their connection to the Region of Waterloo. I paid $8.00 as a student and it was worth every penny. The location was a little inconvenient and it is more tailored to individuals with a car. Another thing about the location is that they aren’t many food establishments around it, you have to drive a bit to find a place to eat, however, they do have a cafe on site. Next time I do go I hope they have more interactive displays in the main museum because at times it is a lot of reading. Overall this experience was great and I applaud their efforts.
Worth the visit
Great pioneer village for those interested in that also a museum as well
Really great place to bring the family. They put on a lot of activities to do with children. Great heritage building with very interactive displays and attentive staff
The Wild Weather exhibit is well done, interactive, educational and entertaining. We will be coming back
Always been a bit of an eyesore, also in the most baseless spot in the city. Not even worth the drive away from uptown
Volunteer there. Best place to visit.
Was their Starry Night tour. Always excellent. Unfortunately the tickets sell out in a matter of minutes on line earlier in the year.
Great large place with lots to see. Would be better if there were some guided tours - as the information is quite voluminous to digest.
Great museum especially with the pioneer village
Relaxed atmosphere, lots of history!
Wonderful experience, went to a sensory friendly event. My child really enjoyed it!
Cool outside
Nice out door village
Interesting fun and games...kids learnt a lot about birds of prey and overall good experience. Will be back soon.
A wonderful simulation of the beautiful past
We love coming out at least once every summer! Nice outing and the staff are great and very informative ????????
Went here on canada day a couple years ago didn't think much of it but went again the other day with my 2 year old daughter and she loved it and it was just enough of a tour for her wouldn't want it much more for a little one price for adults is a bit to much tho but I'm cheap to so lol
A very interesting place, lots of info on local history

Very nice place and quiet spacious.
Has the greatest day here lots to see.
I love this place! They have great exhibits and events throughout the year. The Village is also impressive with knowledgeable costumed interpreters, animals to visit and lots of great buildings to explore. I just saw the newest exhibit, Going Places: Past Present Future and it's incredible. Definitely worth the visit.
Very interesting little museum featuring local history with nice exhibits. Next is a lovely village set in 1914, with informative actors at some locations. Inexpensive and well worth checking out if you're in the area.
Clean, beautiful space. My husband and I were married here and they were so accommodating and nice. The day was perfect. Since then, we have gone back for event which always turn out great.
Something for all age groups in Outer space exhibit. Teddy bears and lots of interactive displays.
Great events
Very informative....staff are friendly and engaging
This is a really good museum and pioneer village. It isn't too big. The inside exhibits are excellent and the village is great with lots of reenactors. The museum is on a beautiful area. I don't know why they don't have a schoolhouse but it is an amazing place. Great for parents of schoolchildren or history buffs. The price is very reasonable.
Good for short outing not like Calgary Heritage Park. Good for those who have not visited anyother like this.
Such a lovely village circa 1914, and enjoyed the indoor exhibits as well. Safe are friendly and helpful. All around good experience
Very informative
Nice place for kids..
Was under the impression there would be more ceilings on display. Still an entertaining and productive way to spend an afternoon.
Staff put on wonderful events for kids!
Beautiful building, excellent displays.
Great place for kids and families.

Love the atmosphere.
Very neat museum and experience. Definitely worth checking out. It gives a good perception of how people lived a hundred years go, as well as the history of Kitchener.

Just so much to see and do
The main museum is an interesting building and space. The exibits in it however are pretty thin. What's there isn't bad. There's just not a lot there. With a couple of exceptions it looks like they scrambled to find stuff to fill the museum, couldn't, so used lots of pictures and bits & pieces instead. There is a LOT of improvement needed on that front. The outside village, incredibly, is closed on weekends after labour day, which makes little sense particularly since the main building seems over staffed for what it is. It looked interesting from the other side of the fence, we just couldn't actually visit it.
There for Canada Day, free family admission and as a musician in The 1914 Band..indoors in air conditioning..good for everyone! Happy, excellent, appreciative audience, great music, "LIVE"!! Good to keep up with events happening there.Always a wonderful experience. Interesting and unusual things to see in the gift shop too. Free parking. Wheelchair accessible.
Been here twice, both times I was impressed by the knowledgeable guides in the village. Fun, inexpensive way to spend an afternoon. The animals are amusing, and the blacksmith can make you a souvenir if you catch him when there isn't a crowd. The inside of the museum provides more insight into the history of the Kitchener area, and there are refreshments if the walking tired you out.
Fantastic way to learn about the history of our area. Even with the changes due to COVID, it was a great experience both inside the museum and the outdoor portion in the village. Will definitely be back!
(Translated) Very interesting ???? (Original) 很有趣????
Nice place to visit. We loved the pioneer's village and the staff were knowledgeable nd made our tour feel like a timetravel back in 1914.
Very nice place to visit, very interesting place, highly recommend
Good material, fair interpretation. Us oldies loved it. Could see that youngsters enjoyed it too.
Really fun for families, great learning experience for all ages. Best to bring food and have a picnic at the site.

Wish we had more time 2 look around
It is a nice reconstructed village from 1914. Worth visiting.:)
Great museum
Local history an artifacts, and new theme display every year.
Great place to take your kids or even for yourself to enjoy
A slice of the past.
Keep an eye out where they're changing the exhibits, they do a great job!
Fun
One of my favourite places in Ontario! I visited this place the first time with my family, and we had an awesome experience. It was an excellent place for kids at a reasonable price. I would recommend this place to everyone.
Love the museum. Great exhibits that they change out regularly. The Doon heritage site of the museum is like taking a step back in history. Very cool experience.
Average size size museum detailing local history. Staff were friendly and eager to share their knowledge. Attached heritage village includes people in period costumes acting in character.Reasonable admission for what's offered. Picnic areas available between the parking and village. Great place to spend a few hours exploring.
Favourite place! Such a calming atmosphere & lots of kids activities organized
Went for school trip and was disappointed
The place is nice but, the two ladies at the front desk they weren't nice and, keep them ignoring us even though the museum wasn't busy. The stuff was unpleasant and, seems disturbed by our asking questions. I hope next time, they have better disposition for public because the museum and the history was great!
