My husband and I came to the concert all the way from Port Moody to see Colin MacDonald and Stefan Hintersteininger. We were looking forward to it, and our friend Vern Daalnik made us reservations to make sure we get in. He personally knows Colin and told me a lot of good things about him. We brought our twin boys as the poster clearly stated " Children welcome". We were nicely greeted by the lady at the door. We got seated and held the children on our laps. The concert started. One of our boys was quiet, the other was very interested in everything and kept pointing at things and asking "what's this?" from time to time. My husband went in the other room with him because the concert has already started and everyone was quiet. After a couple minutes I went with our other son to check on them. That's one a staff member came up to us and said that we need to leave because this concert is not for children, it's very conservative and people came all the way from Richmond (oh my god) to see this. I said that the poster said children were welcome. He said that not children of this age. I said the age was not specified. He kept insisting that bringing kids was inappropriate. I got annoyed, got up and headed toward the door. My husband gathered our belongings. On the way out I asked for our money back. The senior staff member rudely told me to never come back. I told him not to worry because I won't. I went outside and broke in tears. My husband had to go back for a forgotten item and on the way back a big argument happened, with the same person. We left. Never in my life have we been treated so disrespectfully at an event. I'd like to mention that we have brought our children to different events and have always been mindful of other people and taken them out of the room if they happen to get upset or bored. I have been playing principal cello for New Westminster Symphony Orchestra for the last 1.5 years and my kids have attended most concerts. They're always welcomed and sometimes people come up to me after the show and say hi and ask how my twins are doing, and say hi to them as well. I'm very upset and disappointed with the treatment we've received. I'll never come back (that should make somebody happy). Some people just need to pull the stick out of their a$$. Yup, you read that right.
Gorgeous heritage home and museum in the heart of the West End. We went for the regular Jazz night and for $15 it was well worth it. You can walk around and see the interior of the home and all the contents, enjoy a very intimate jazz session and as a bonus the lovely volunteers serve Earl Grey tea and cookies in vintage China during the break. Thoroughly enjoyed, will go again.
Oh my gosh it was stunning. For anyone and everyone who LOVES the Victorian era this house will thrill you!! ????????????
Great place to visit. This place takes you back to the Victorian days. The house was well taken care of and you can touch original displays which was very nice. They provide a tour and after the tour they provide free earl grey tea with cookies ????
(Translated) House of German immigrants who made a fortune in Vancouver around 1900. We love to know the house and its entire collection. Extremely interesting and well-preserved memorabilia. (Original) Casa de imigrantes alemães que fizeram fortuna em Vancouver em torno de 1900. Nós adoramos conhecer a casa e todo acervo. Memorabilia extremamente interessante e bem conservada.
What a hidden gem! Fascinating little museum providing an insight into the architecture and heritage of Vancouver through the home & artefacts of the Roedde family, located in a beautiful, peaceful, leafy square away from all the hustle & bustle (and yet only a few minutes from Robson Street).
Really interesting step back in time. Great host as well
Had a volunteer guide. Going to hear music next time. Nice place. Nothing is authentic to the Roedde family however the house is filled with period pieces. This house is not wheelchair accessible. I do not recommend bringing small children or people with mobility issues. Understandably the passages are narrow, the steps are steep and everything is untouchable. There may have been a staff washroom but there definitely is not a gift shop or cafe. They are looking for volunteers.
Traditional historic some. Perhaps more old fashioned than even a standard historic house in terms of the display areas. Worth a visit.
Step back in time and see what it was like to be part of a middle class family in Vancouver nearly 100 years ago. Four parking spaces in back for visitors. Open 1 to 4 p.m. Tu to Sun.
Pretty, well-kept house in Vancouver with many period artifacts and decorations. The staff was quite helpful on a number of topics including suggesting a place to eat. Thank you Montana. I went for the new speaking engagement they had about the era. It was about Lewis Carroll's writings and parallels (pun intended) with Euclidean geometry. I never knew about this.
Interesting old house in Vancouver's West End. Very tight staircases and the rooms are all very small. Would not want to go there on a day when there were tons of people. Crammed with all kinds of artifacts and pictures from that era Late 1900's. Kind of a buzz kill when you came down stairs and you ended up in a kitchen full of microwaves and dishwashers etc. I imagine if you had a guided tour they would more than likely steer you away from that area. A guided tour will set you back only $5 well worth it. Since I am sure there are a lot of stories to be told about that house and the artifacts it encases. Nice green space on the West side to relax whether permitting. But isn't that always the case in Vancouver.
Not so much about the Museum itself, but the area in which it sits. This is a great preservation effort, with plenty of greenspace. Not easy to do in the West End!
a good museum, excellent exhibitions
Very interesting.
Interesting area and great that they have this quietish area in such a busy city
(Translated) It's interesting to visit the quaint house with the Annabelle House feel. (Original) 애너벨 하우스 느낌의 고풍스러운 집으로 방문하면 흥미롭습니다.

Very interesting tour in a very-well restored Victorian House.
A beautiful Victorian house
Nice to learn the history of Vancouver's westend.
A great place to see intimate classical and jazz music performances.
Roedde House museum is an interesting peek into middle class life in Vancouver 100 years ago. When I visited, the volunteer docent was friendly and knowledgeable. I was most interested in the old pictures of Vancouver, as well as some of the artifacts connected with prominent figures in Vancouver's history. I suspect that these would hold more interest for people familiar with Vancouver than those visiting the city. That said, the price of admission is modest and would be worthwhile to anyone with an interest in history. Heritage Square, adjacent to the house, is charming and open to the public for free.
Really cool to see an old house the way they once were. The items and household from the era. Great visit. Going to have to go back again
Pretty cool place as well as a lovely team showing you around! Absolutely worth a visit when you're in Vancouver :-)
(Translated) recommendable (Original) Recomendable
A piece of history about a family living in Vancouver. Will never forget.
Small little Victorian styled house in the middle of downtown Vancouver
Choc-a-bloc full of antiques. Check the hours before you go.
Great piece of history in Vancouver
Great historic site with friendly staff! A++
Quaint historic house showcasing days of Vancouver past. Lots of interesting history to read about and artifacts to view.
Because it's such a small museum, you get to see everything up close! The guides are really knowledgeable and friendly.
Incredible time capsule! Stepping into this little pocket of history was so captivating. The smallest details were on display to really let a person imagine what it would have been like to live there. The amazing history of the family and all its treasures, was neat. The house itself was the best part. All the rooms and decorations were excellently preserved.
Amazing jem in the center of downtown Vancouver. This is an interactive and immersive Victorian era experience where you can really feel what it's like to live in that era. From the ways rooms are set up to the clothes and kitchen tools, simply fascinating to experience it all
A wonderful glimpse into that period in Vancouver history just after the rapacious axes of the Canadian Pacific leveled the local forests and cleared the way for their trains to connect Canada from sea to shining sea. As usual, the developers were here before everyone, building neighbourhoods everywhere. Two deer heads mounted on one wall were shot in nearby Stanley Park. The Roedde House museum is a beautiful example of the architecture of the era. It is fitted out in furnishings and artifacts that fit the period.
Interesting but not overly exciting. Perhaps needs a little renovation but its ok
Place is amazing
We really loves every second of it. We had a top notch guide and we really felt back in time. It s a great place reactivated by passionate people and the energy they spend is greatly felt by visitors. We went to Fly Over Canada the day after with all the special effects and pompous marketing and were so disappointed after all the care and personnalized approach we felt ar Roedde. Really go there and feel the magic
A wonderful, beautifully preserved piece of Vancouver's history. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable.
An amazing museum with highly knowledgeable staff, would really reccomend a visit. Great social distancing as well. Lots of objects to look at as well!
A hidden gem. What a treat to visit the Roedde Museum. It’s really well done and the live music series is fantastic. Subscribe to their newsletter to stay in the know.
Historical home, it is nice to visit .
Amazing old Victorian home in the heart of West End. A must for any lover of history.
Nice house, french version of the podcast seems to be uncomplete, needs some dusting and ventilation. Very kind staff
Historical home, nice place to visit.
Good history lesson with tour.
Very interesting and interactive tour.
Great heritage museum in downtown Vancouver
The tour was very interesting, especially with the stories and info provided by the three pleasant volunteer guides. It was nice to see so many old-fashioned items on display in the house. The trolley ride was helpful and much appreciated.
Worth to pay a visit if you are in the area
(Translated) Original, welcoming, well maintained museum. The young guide gives very clear explanations (only in English) small snack included in the ticket price (excellent tea and biscuits). (Original) Original, accueillant, musée bien entretenu. La jeune guide donne des explications très claires (uniquement en anglais) petite collation incluse dans le prix du billet (excellent thé et petits biscuits).
Was great
Hopefully shooting a Movie here soon.
What a West End gem. Gives you an authentic peek into life here at the turn of the last century. Sweet little museum where you can interact with everything in it! How unusual. Unpretentious and immersive. They even have ongoing live concerts, jazz last night sitting out in the little park next door with sublime!
This is a lot bigger than is seems in the pictures, and the only museum of this era I've ever been in that allowed you to actually touch things. They have an original Underwood type writer and an Edison Amberola music box, the volunteer even wound it up and played the music on it. There is a new collection of photographic material and equipment being added upstairs. It wasn't fully setup when we visited but was already pretty impressive with some pure treasures on display. The volunteers really do make the tour and bring things to life and tying seeming unrelated items into the story of the family throughout the years.
Really interesting old (for Vancouver) house of a style seen up and down West Coast America, if they've not been pulled down already. When we visited we had a personal tour by the volunteer guide, who talked us through the history of the family who originally owned the house and its subsequent history and preservation. The rooms are nicely laid out with period furniture, although not originally belonging to the house. We'll worth a visit. We were there on a very wet day, so the garden was a bit sodden, but the walk up from the Convention Center was worth it.

(Translated) A time machine. House with decoration and accessories from the time when the family lived there. Very interesting for those who like to know the stories of local people. Gorgeous museum!
This is a neat little place. Many artifacts of the time period that are worthwhile.
Nice and cozy place near Stanley park
It's worth visiting here.
Amazing house-museum, you can transport yourself to the past, just listening the history of the family, each room has its own history, you can feel it. The guides explain you the history of each member of the family, also you can take your time in each room at the end of the tour. I think on Sundays, they have a tea afternoon, so you can give that extra touch tour your tour, drinking a cup of tea and cookies, until you enjoy the view of house. Because of the space I don't recommend for babies or kids under 10, also if you have mobility issues, I don't recommend it because the space is limited and the stairs are not wide enough for a wheelchair.

Interesting piece of Victorian-era Vancouver history. Great place for tea after a public reading on Victorians and crime.
I went for the jazz concert, the musician played in the middle of the 200yo living room. It was the best place I could have a concert in! The manager was really welcoming and took time to explain the history behind the house during the break with a nice cup of tea. What else can we ask?!
A good way to learn some of Vancouver's past
A wonderful hidden gem in the West End. With so few heritage buildings left in Vancouver, it's a real treat to have this Victorian House full of period features and artefacts. The museum has some fascinating photographs of the West End from the early 20th century. And in addition to the museum selection, there are porch jazz concerts, classical music concerts, and exhibitions. Well worth a visit or an annual membership.
A beautiful cultural gem in the heart of the city.

(Translated) A perfectly acclimated house of more than 120 years. Very interesting the decoration, the building itself, the photographs ... it is easy to immerse yourself in that moment (Original) Una casa perfectamente ambientada de más de 120 años. Muy interesantes la decoración, el edificio en sí, las fotografías...es fácil sumergirse en aquel momento
We stumbled across this lovely little museum while exploring the residential area nearby the Westin Bayshore. The house was built in the 1920s. It is so nice to see this architecturally beautiful home restored and maintained as a museum. While the furnishings are not original to the home, they are appropriate to the Era.
(Translated) Wow, a great place, a glimpse of Victorian history in the middle of the city. (Original) Wow, un luogo fantastico, uno scorcio di storia vittoriana nel mezzo della città.
Make sure to check website for VERY limited hours of operation. If you're into local history this is a neat experience. Allow 45 mins to 2 hrs depending on your interest level. Believe there's a tour or guide available. Volunteers were very knowledgeable.
Great place with some cool exhibits from the end of the 19th century. The guide was kind and explained some fascinating things about life back in the day. Must visit if you're a history afficionado.
Great tour for Vancouver historic site.
Not flashy, but so interesting to those interested in Canadian Victorian life. Set in a park & a nice walk through the older Westend.
absolutely love this place! for victorian enthusiastics
In a city that seems intent on destroying its past as fast as possible, the few remaining Victorian houses in Vancouver's central district are a welcome sight. The Roedde House Museum is also situated in one of the last remaining Vancouver neighborhoods that can still call itself one. The rest of the city's downtown core is speedily changing into a faceless collection of bland looking, mostly residential, skyscrapers.
A living museum is so much fun
(Translated) Enjoying the open-air concert in the evening is great, not every day (Original) 傍晚欣賞露天音樂會太棒了,不是每天有的
On Sunday at 3:15pm they provide a tour and an afternoon tea for $8. Nice place to experience some local history.
Spent an extremely enjoyable afternoon at this little hidden gem in Vancouver. Staff were friendly and polite. Special kudos to Anika (sp?) who showed no signs of impatience to our incessant questions and even though we inadvertently stayed past closing time, she was more than happy to discuss what interested us. Have recommended to friends who will be visiting Vanc' in Spring. Well worth the visit. Thanks to all.
Get up close and personal with Vancouver history. Not that many places would let you touch the items. Hope visitors are careful and watch the kids. Staff was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour.
Beautiful reminder of old times in Vancouver

(Translated) A trip back in time to visit this house from the last century. It is interesting to see the trajectory of the Roedde family, which also fulfills the tradition of a Vancouver that is very receptive to immigrants of other nationalities. The story of Joe, a famous 20th-century black Vancouver citizen and friend of the Roedde family, is equally interesting, having been the area's first lifeguard and instructor.
(Translated) Nice historic place, in the middle of a residential area. Worth it. (Original) Mooie historische plek, midden in een woonwijk. Moeite waard.
Wonderful historic home turned folk museum.
If you want to know how people were living in the early years in Vancouver, you should visit this only place in the heart of Down Town Vancouver.
We really loves every second of it. We had a top notch guide and we really felt back in time. This place is full of Vancouver history, for houses itself it's full of antiques and stories of the previous owners. It covers the history of West End in depth and also the growth and changes to Vancouver. Make sure you check of the old photos too, you'll be amazed by the gentrification.
A group of old and picturesque houses in the center of West End Vancouver, it offers a vivid contrast with the tall residence buildings and skyscrapers.
Thank you Sara for letting me photograph and post to my group. You've done a great job with the house and museum

So beautiful
(Translated) Amazing to see how they lived at that time (Original) Increíble ver como vivían en esa epoca
Very interesting trip to the past.
The tour guide knows a lot and explained the history and story of the family in great detail.
A lovely spot on a rainy afternoon. I stumbled on this after many visits and stays in the West End. A buried treasure of historical life at the turn of the last century.
