Great for kids and lots of history!

How can you not visit this place if they even have an old train in exhibition. Very kind people around to help you follow regulations in times of pandemic and only less than 5 minutes walk from the 'Moody Central Skytrain Station'. You are within walking distance to restaurants, ICE CREAM and outstanding views many people would pay to experience.

The Port Moody station museum is not just about the railways but about the evolution of the town and the items that would have been commonplace in Port Moody in the 1920s and 1930s as well as an interesting feature on people born around the world who now call Port Moody home. There is a reconstruction of a WWI trench at the back of the building and a meditation garden.

Really cool museum! The train car outside is the most intact one I've seen in the city. Beds, bathroom and a dining hall inside. Museum itself has plenty of artifacts including a complete kitchen! Worth a stop for both kids and adults. Entry by donation (!!!)

A cute and lovely small museum with a wonderful Christmas market during the winter. The train car is fun to explore and the train museum shows a lot of the activist work in the community. Since it’s donation based it’s a perfect spot to visit.

This quaint little museum is an absolute diamond in the rough. While the facility is certainly not massive, it is beautifully and obviously lovingly maintained. Don’t let the size fool you - there’s plenty to keep you (and perhaps some little ones) occupied for an hour or two. Parking is notoriously difficult in the Rocky Point Park lot next door, but the museum always seems to have a spot or two available in exchange for a small donation. They deserve every penny - the museum is stuffed to the rafters with character and history! ...plus, it’s conveniently located steps away from a craft ice creamery, several craft breweries, and Rocky Point Park. Sounds like s great summer day in my books!

Such a great place to visit and be reminded of Port Moody history.

A hidden gem. Walk through the old CP Railway station and look over relics from more than 100 years of Port Moody History. The highlight for me was the British SE5a replica and the recreation of a section of WWI trench system. Also there is a phenomenally restored CP Rail passenger car. Entry is by donation! I recommend this as a Port Moody must see.

Head on down to this place they have a vintage railway on exhibit. The museum is free for all, and you’ll get to learn a lot from their wide variety of educational programs(they fo provide it online during pandemic). These programs are paid. Folks here are really kind, they will assist you in the museum, and it’s merely a 5-minute walk from the 'Moody Central Skytrain.' There are breathtaking views, visit the quintessential gardens and meditate, a look back to the time during the 1900s, all within walking distance. There are banks of blackberry bushes and ferns.

The museum is centrally located next to Rocky Point Park. It is a very small museum, but it has some fun features. They have an interesting setup of an old kitchen, with all the appliances that make you get a good idea how things were. You can see old phones, typewriter, and train related artifacts.

You must show a vax pass to enter. This is not a provincial directive, this is their virtuous director's decision. Their website touts "an inclusive event that everyone can celebrate", whilst indulging in ideological medical discrimination. if you ever wanted to know the types that'd comply in 1930s Germany, you have your answer.

Marcus Madsen

Awesome place! Ask for Marcus, who is really knowledgeable when it comes to Port Moody's history. Great place for both, kids and adults.

Lots of historical items to view and even better stories from the caretaker. Learned a lot during our visit and a little urban legend about Golden Spike Days.

Sacha Joubert

Fun family friendly events held here with great aplomb! The museum is fairly standard, but the train coach outside is always interesting and exciting for all ages!

Nick Bowie

Nice place to take your child if they are invested in history or curious about Port Moody.

I have brought both my high school classes to the Port Moody Museum for a tour by Marcus. Marcus came highly recommended by other educators and he truly was fantastic. Booking was quick and easy, and it was a very affordable visit. Our tour of the trenches and airplane in the back were great for students to explore. There is an outdoor, covered area with picnic benches and a train on property as well. When booking, we asked for topics specifically about Indigenous soldiers and women, how mental health was handled, and how BIPOC were received. It was a trip that was about WWI and about social justice issues we experience today; it gave a lot for students to think about. Marcus was flexible if things changed last minute. He was also great with creating a plan for a class who was learning to manage their focus. The facility is currently being decolonized which speaks to the integrity of the folks overseeing the Port Moody Station Museum. Highly recommended.

A hidden gem of a museum with incredible value for a self-guided tour. Both the World War I reconstruction of a trench and the preserved train stand out as highlights, along with the telegraph office itself.

This place is packed full of Port Moody history! It is a small museum with trenches in the back and the train car in the front. It is technically free to get in but they do accept cash donations. I loved how close you can get to the artifacts they keep. Such a nice place to go and learn.

Beautiful historical museum !

Hidden gem. For a suggested donation of $2 you get five rooms filled with objects from Port Moody's history, concentrating naturally on the role of the railway. Many interesting information boards to illuminate the story behind the objects. Also a recreation of WW1 trenches round the back and a period train coach in front. Also a working train whistle, fun for young and old!

Aaron Lu

I went here with my Grade 11 class and it was great. The man who gave us the tour was super kind and insightful. Great place to learn about WW1

This is a fabulous place to take the entire family and step back in time. The museum contains hundreds of pieces depicting life long ago. Behind the station (a former train station) is a full size replica of what wartime in the trenches would have looked like. Both fascinating and saddening at the same time.

Not the best day to go as there was a big project with a school group and we were restricted to where we could go. From what I could see it looked to be an interesting exhibit. One staff member was friendly and helpful. The other one..not so. Perhaps i will go back one of these years

Discriminating Operation. Would have given 0 stars if I could.

Chris Whiteside

There should be more parking here. If your in to trains this is the place.

Jorden

They support medical segregation, yet claim to be inclusive. Do not support a business that supports the discrimination of others.

Michelle O'Neil

Wonderful historical fun. Kids love the trench and the train and the train toys and the Morse code, feeling the pelts and guessing was fun!....and there nothing like the old fashioned train whistle. Staff is excellent! And it's free!!!!

Nice small museum dedicated to Port Moody's pre-contact and colonial history.

What a wonderful experience in this little train museum. Be sure to check out the WWI and WWII trenches, aircraft and story boards in the back. Very sobering. There's also a fun fairy garden with a storybook stroll around it.

Great little museum with lots of local history. Nice WW1 set up.

Mary Allan

Great little Xmas fair noon til 9 p.m. until Dec 24th You can also grab a drink ,alcohol and non alcohol and sit inside the train and enjoy the lights and music. Also don't forget to check out the museum in the train station. Great history of Port Moody.

Mun Bagri

Very friendly and helpful staff. It's nice to see that they do have Covid-19 measures in place, which reduces some of the experiences (hands on stuff for kids) but there still are opportunities to keep them engaged & learning. This includes a replica WW1 Trench which is quite impressive.
