Pretty small but admission is free and the geological specimens available are quite interesting. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

(Translated) It depends on the person, but I didn't really enjoy it. The explanation of minerals was not very intriguing because it was inorganic. If you have children, your impression may change again. (Original) 人によるかもですが、あまり楽しめる感じではなかったです。鉱物の説明とかって無機質でいまいち興味をそそられませんでした。子供がいたらまた印象が変わるかもしれませんが。

It's easy to miss the main part of the museum - It's tucked in the back behind the bigger building on Main mall. It is kind of small but the exhibits they do have are nicely put together. I'd suggest touring both this museum and the Beatty Biodiversity museum together since they're so close.

A bit minimalist, and, you know, for kids (I'm 44) - but free and right opposite (and to the left a bit, if you can find it) the Beatty Museum. Mostly geology (and a big fossil cast), though the globe projector is cool.

Jonathan Tang

Great museum inside UBC campus. $16 or so per person but a good 1.5-2 hours of exhibits and exploration.

One of the best public collections I've seen.

It's a lovely little museum, with entry by donation. The malachite pig alone makes a trip worthwhile, if you're in the neighbourhood.

UBC was closed so it was very quiet. We gave ourselves a self guided tour

More of a research center than a museum. Edit- I might have only entered the research center and missed the actual museum. Google maps may have the wrong building mapped.

(Translated) It is the museum of minerals and rocks of the British Columbia University (UBC). It has samples of rocks, minerals and fossils from the state of British Columbia and the rest of Canada, as well as the description of natural phenomena observed in the region, landslides, earthquakes and tsunamis. It also has an interactive room with a Globe that represents diverse climatic conditions on the planet. Entrance is free and almost mandatory when visiting the campus.

An absolute... Gem... Up at UBC ???? This free (donations accepted) self guided space is as beautiful as it is educational. I have brought adults and children in and everyone has had a wonderful time. If you have a small group, call ahead to book a visit, the staff are wonderful and obviously care very much about their work!

This place is very close to the Beaty Biodiversity Mesuem, basically just the building over. It's worth a visit if you are already planning to check out the Beaty museum. It's not very big but has a few cool interactive exhibits like the huge green screen and you can be just like meteorologists and give weather forecasts. There is also a dark room with a large interactive globe, minerals, and gems exhibit. You can't go wrong with a free museum, however you are able to make a donation!

This is a relatively small museum but there is a lot to be learned from it. Maybe it would be nicer if the workshops were more hands on especially for little children.

My 3 year old loves the place, specially the dark room for globe and gem gallery. I am very impressed with the staff, Daniel is very professional, passionate about the topic and good with kids. Awesome guy. ???????? So don’t be shy to ask him any questions you have about the museum.

I stayed in the museum for half an hour and learned about tsunami's, saw some beautiful treasures of the earth and got to be the weather lady for a moment. Really sparked a new interest! Cool and free museum.
