If you want local history this is the place Mr brown is probably one of the coolest people you will ever meet and there is so much to look at .... you can be here for hours and not see it all and the staff are AMAZING and you will get a real taste of alaska highway history along with local stories and all sorts of great things . I highly recommend stopping here there is always something new to see

There’s a ton of stuff here to see; it’s all a bit random, but that’s what makes it interesting!

(Translated) A very nice and interesting museum. Everything can be found there. Old cars, old radios, tools and even an old aircraft engine, with the propeller still attached. Well with the blades at the end bent, apparently the engine was still running after the plane might have sunk into the mud or something like that. Also two rusted car engines. For many people there may not be much to see, but for technically interested people, one can clearly be recognized as a side valve motor and the other as a head valve motor. The latter type is nowadays common; side valve motors are virtually non-existent. Both copies are together on one photo. This museum is a must for anyone who can take the time. Ample parking space and nice staff.

(Translated) It does not help much. Pieces piled up without explanation. It is necessary to wait for the guided visit which does not have much interest. Feeling: started with odds and ends dating more or less long ago. Tips: There is better to do.

Great place to wonder through. Lots of stuff to see.

Dan Vosper

Interesting artifacts and truely historical significance. The urgency of the time is displayed on the memorial in front of the museam. Something maybe bith Americans and Canadians have forgotten with time, peace and prosperity. It will definitely be interesting to the few American friends of this country that we have left and one to visit.

This is an absolute gem of a museum. Fort Nelson is a small town, yet this museum is big town quality. Don't let the front fool you, there is massive things to see in it.

Lindsay Lillyman

Really cool spot lots of open air things to see

Brent “Soonta REtire” Dreamer

We got here a couple days late in the season and the parking lot was under construction before the ground froze, so we were not able to take in the full experience of the museum. I grew up in this town and had been there many times but the wife missed out. If you get a chance to visit here, it is well worth it.

We stayed an extra day in Fort Nelson just to visit this delightful little museum. Marl Brown, founder of the museum, is amazing. Still going strong at 87, he works every day on his collection of classic automobiles including the 1908 Buick he drove to Whitehorse, Yukon and back in 2008.

Patti Burton

A good 30 to 60 minute minimum stop for young and old alike. Check out a few things in particular. The collection of mounted animals, many of which can be seen along even the highway, allow for life sized model comparison. The 6 out buildings, including the Hudson Bay building, post office and community church. Many of the treasures have to be searched for, which was a delight for the kids. Many of the devices still work and one can be shown how something works if interested. Bathroom deadbolts will be challenging for elderly or young children. Buried in book collection in store are some books no longer available and some small run print of Metis stories for children worth considering. Ask if Marl Brown is around to see if you can tease out some great stories - he wasn't there when we visited, but I hear he is a hoot.
