The museum is in the middle of renovations, so they are making sure with the space they have. Some neat artifacts on display and I'm sure the cultural center offers more than what's on public display. Anyways, not sure what you expect for a small town museum.

Kanwar Sran

Good place, did our motorcycle ride from Brampton to this place.

This site so necessary if you have come through Canada's public school system. #differentsidesofthesamestory

I haven't been there for over 18 years

The place is kept at a ridiculously cold temperature and when asked if they could turn it up or off, we were told it was to maintain the artifacts (even though they're REPLICAS). Then we were told that they have raised 4 million dollars in donations which they have decided to use to refurbish the Residential House where stolen native children were kept, but they aren't spending the money in communities that still dont have accessible clean drinking water. What a disgrace..

I find this is the place to go to learn about the true Haundenosaune history. I am sure once the museum for the Residential school is complete it will be quite the experiential experience.

Went on a field trip, learned a lot about the abuses under the residential school system in Ontario. Heard from a survivor. Very moving. Recommended to anyone wanting to learn more about the history of Indigenous peoples in Ontario.

Joseph Kranz

Helped me be more knowledgeable about our history and how that history affects us today.

Francisco Lopez

The museum is small but contains good information about the indigenous and their relationship with the white people. I was expecting to find more information related to the residential schools, so. I was a little disappointed. The place made me think we can do way better to try to mitigate the terrible damage we have done to to them. There should be some link or at least information available on the activities available in the Six Nations community.

Valia Reinsalu

Lovely museum and thoughtful pieces with knowledgeable staff.

Victoria Bomberry

Lots to learn here. Great place for Allies to start

Brenda Hill

A must-see! And always get info on upcoming shows & events

Highly recommend their tours. Great staff and great way to learn about local Indigenous history and culture. I would go back again and again in a heart beat.

Brionne Asham

Great place to learn about Residential schools and their effect on Indigenous people. Furthermore, learning about Six Nations people and the different Nations in the six nations. Great place to hear, see different local artists.

terry boyer

I love that they took a place of sadness and abuse and turned it into a place where people can learn of the atrocities committed against the native people and teach the native culture and language to those who were robbed of their heritage and to those who will help prevent such atrocities from ever happening again.

Laila Madani

A wonderful tool for education on a personal and large scale.

brendan brady

A nice little museum that will teach you a lot.

Derek Scanlan

I enjoyed my time learning and working there. I was responsible for the sand and refinish of the first 2 levels of the hardwood floors. I hope to see the final completion one day with my daughter. Me and another guy spent countless hours bringing those floors back to life, while attempting to maintain the integrity of the history. I am honoured to have been a part of this project to save the evidence.

I have been visiting the WCC since 1984 and loved every moment of it. I hope to eventually acquire a volunteering position with them sometime in the near future but I will always visit the WCC since everyone there is so great to be around and very knowledgeable with all the material in the museum. Their passion for their work shows in how friendly they are with visitors. Anyways, that's why I give this rating 5 stars.

The Woodland Cultural Centre is more than a museum; it is an experience. The history of native habitation in this part of southern Ontario is recounted in displays, artifacts and multimedia, and the story of the interaction between Six Nations and European settlers is told with accuracy and candour. Anyone who comes to the Centre will learn about and be moved by this powerful story. The Centre lies in the shadow of one of the last remaining Residential School buildings and across the road from H.M. Royal Chapel of the Mohawks. A great testimonial to resilience, survival, truth and reconciliation.

I didn't love it, but think I will! The Woodland Cultural Centre is currently under construction due to some flooding, but they believe it should be up and running in 2020. While the original residential school remains inaccessible due to the construction, they still have a library, museum, and gift shop accessible.

Please stop reviewing this place poorly because of its history. It is NOW a cultural centre to shine a light on the past and to protect the evidence of what the building and grounds once were. If you review this place poorly, the Indigenous artwork and cultural artifacts found here will not be as widely seen, and you will drive away some percentage of income that the new owners of this property (who work FOR the rights and liberties of Indigenous Peoples) could use to educate others. Leave reviews related to its current iteration, not its terrible history. Thank you.

Very educational, no matter how old or the number of times you visit. (Although the young lady on the desk could have come down to earth for a bit to be a bit more helpful.)

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon took my grdaughter...we were both awed at the interesting displays from fine bead work to some of the most heart touching art of the survivors of the horrific wrongs of the school .....A TRULY MUST SEE IN BRANTFORD

The history was amazing to learn about, since the government and educators didn't teach us anything about. Said really.

I enjoyed going here for an exhibit and seeing the museum. Very educational experience. Hearing stories first hand from a residential school survivor is something you cannot put in a text book. I learned a lot and would recommend everyone go here to become educated on Indigenous peoples and their history (from the source) that is not governed by colonial practices.

An important part of Canadian history, Residential Schools shaped a group of people and not in a good way. We should all learn more about these dark chapters of our shared history and understand what that says about us as a nation.

Very historic Mohawk Institute and a must to tour and learn about a very interesting but sad (dark) history of native children. Originally opened in 1828 as the Mechanics Institute for Native Six Nations boys and later in 1834 native girls were accepted. I encourage you to google Mohawk Institute History now...and read up...
