The evening I was there, grade 7 and 8 students from Braemar School were acting as guides and interpreters. What a great way to present the various displays. All artifacts were period correct, complete with working models of old telephones and switchboards. Visitors were allowed and encouraged to handle and use many displays. Graham Bell is a Scottish-born scientist and inventor. He is best known for inventing the world's first practical telephone. He moved to this house from Scotland. Very modestly built, it is hard to believe that this place became the place where the world-changing telephone was invented. There are tours available, and I highly recommend taking them.

A nice historic place to visit. The house is kept and preserved in pristine condition and tours are available every hour. Apart from being a birthplace of great scientific discovery, the place in itself is a quintessential representation of 1800s architecture and interior design. The oil lamps, light fixtures (though most converted into electric) give a neat authentic vibe, so does a high end step stove in kitchen. Its a must see for science/history fanatics out there as well as everyone else.

This is a great spot to see and learn the interesting history of Alexander Graham Bell and the invention of the Telephone. There are lots of great period accurate pieces on display, some early telephone and switchboards that are hands on, but the people that work here and guide the tours are what make this place amazing! It is a great time for all ages and very inexpensive. There is also a good gift shop with some cool stuff, and the exchange cafe.

Nancy Huang-Shih

It's a place to introduce telephone history to kids

James McVey

Great place to go and take the kids, another great little piece of Brantford history.

Viji Roberts

So good to visit this historical place. Enjoyed the tour. The narrator was exceptional. Great time.. Highly recommended. The tour reminded me to be enterprising and persevering. What he worked with was meagre compared to the robust resource at our disposal. So let's drop the idea that all that can be discovered or invented is already done, and that nothing remains for us to explore. We'd be surprised when we keep our eyes open to possibilities.

Vignesh Krish PT

Amazing place! Would be a great experience for the kids to gain perspective of how life was in those years. The host Addison was great. Answered questions patiently.

(Translated) It is home to scientist Alexander Graham Bell, where he developed his telephone and made his first long-distance call to the village of Paris in Brant County. The place has a small diner, restrooms, free wi-fi internet, a small souvenir shop and an extremely friendly, knowledgeable and very, very patient staff. The surroundings of the property is a beautiful green area in the summer. If you visit only the outside of the site it is not necessary to buy ticket that gives access to internal Graham Bell family home.

We LOVED the Bell Homestead. The staff was excellent. Why were we not taught in school about all of AGB's extensive list of inventions? Although we were sorry to hear that luncheons have been discontinued. A few of my friends loved the delicious lunches and will be sorry to hear this too. The cook was fabulous, I heard. I was looking forward to having lunch there..

Once you get over the lack of signage in Brantford itself and difficulty in finding this place, it really is a splendid museum. Lovingly restored and beautifully maintained, this is well worth the trouble of finding it. Our tour guide (Brandon) was very informative and pointed out many of the "small things" that helped us understand Alexander Graham Bell and his world, not just the well-known telephone story. Highly recommended.

It was nice the site wasn't actually open but we stopped and looked at the property it's worth a look if your in the area

A shrine to science...It's the home of the great inventor Alexander Graham Bell who stayed here with his parents after moving in to Canada from Scotland. It's here that he invented the telephone. So we owe our luxury of connectivity to this man and yes to Edison to invent the microphone later which helps us talk over call civilly and not shout at top of our lungs. The home is on Tulela lane at Brantford across the River. The home is simple and in midst of nature... testimony to the simple life that propelled the inventor to many patented inventions and led to establishment of Bell communications. A knowledgeable tour to know about this great man.must visit

I called ahead mid-week to confirm opening hours and was told the museum was open that Sunday during the day. We drove 45 minutes out of our way specifically for this museum, and, when we got there, we were told it was closed for a kids Halowe'en event. Despite our best planning efforts, the drive was for nothing. Very disappointed.

What a cute National Historic Site as National Historic Sites go. This is a mini-complex. It's been a museum site since about 1910...who knew. There's the house where Alexander Graham Bell lived. It was originally his father's house. I liked it. You could wander around the various rooms which surprised me. In most museums movement is strictly controlled. The tour guide was very good, funny, friendly and very knowledgeable. The other house had displays of old telephones and an old switchboard. You can also have lunch or a snack in the restaurant. It holds about 30 people. I was there on a Saturday and wasn't busy. Apparently you have to make reservations here weekdays because that's when they're busy. Our waiter was very friendly and eager to please...service was great. OK so my quiche was a tad smallish. It tasted good and the salad was fresh. Prices are reasonable...try it. There's also a cute little gift shop...check it out...again friendly staff. Easy and free parking. The museum is on Tutela Heights Rd in a very nice section of Brantford. Support Brantford and take a quick look at their downtown. They have a great casino there. All in all a very nice visit. We have so few National Historic Sites as Canadians we should visit them & this one is a good one..very interesting. About 2 hours from Toronto via QEW towards Hamilton then the 403.

COVID review. Unfortunately closed for Visitors. With no date of opening. Very important piece of Canadian history. Can also be used as a tiny park, I mean microscopic. It has a swing from the looks of it belong to Mr. Bell. A commemorative plate presented by Queen Victoria herself. If you are ended up on site. There are multiple apple trees you can get your self a free apple, lol

Carol Moore

Plays are performed there and I have enjoyed them very much. It's also a very good historical site to learn about Alexander Graham Bell

Very nice musuem. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the homestead. The musuem is very nice and very good value for the money. The grounds are nice and good to wonder around. The grandchildren had a good time running around. The gift shop is small with a couple of good things but not much else. This is a must see when going to Brantford. A visit to this museum ... the house where Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone is certainly worth the trip. How the telephone came to be is truly educational and fascinating. We also learned so much more about the man and his family. Sarah who gave us a tour of the place is amazing with the historical facts and did an excellent job. There is also a small gift shop to buy some souvenirs.
