We've got all the reviews of real people like you who consumed the products of Royal Ontario Museum (Museum) in Brampton (Canada).
Nowadays the firm receives a rating of 4.7 stars over 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is practically the highest, and it is founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may be quite sure that the evaluation is quite credible. If people have bothered to give their feddback when they are pleased with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to set scores when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Museum corresponds to the category of Museum.
We enjoyed a lot the museum and especially the dinosaurs exhibition. My son is huge Jurassic Park fan and had amazing time in the museum. I personally also loved the architecture and the special exhibits. Enjoyed the walk through the different time periods and the type of design during those times. The Egypt area with the mummy was one of our personal favorite too. The museum is quite big so allow few hours. You can easily spend the whole day there.
It was fun! Must visit place for kids. Very informative and we'll maintained.
Visited the ROM twice, the first time on my own and the second was with family from over seas. It was fun exploring on my own as I got to wander and take my time looking at the exhibits that I wanted and there are a lot of great things to see. There are permanent artifacts here from all over the world which is awesome to see. Occasionally they bring some great exhibits from over seas that is worth seeing. My cousin being from Greece and traveled across Europe where there are artifacts that are much older was also in awe. It's a great place to visit just know that you'll need more than a day to really see everything.
I call this place "edifice of amazing facts." First time I got here, I was petrified with the vast collection of out-of-bounds items from different parts of the globe and even out of this world like space rocks. Don't miss ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM when you're in Toronto.
Lots of interesting things in the permanent collection that are worth seeing, dinosaurs, Egypt, Africa, animals, Rome, and so much more. It’s all worth seeing. Great place to bring a date or the family. There is a new gallery dedicated to the Dawn of Life which is worth the visit. They also have temporary exhibits that do cost more.
Sometimes we think that the past is fiction because the world has changed so much in the last 2000 years. Going to the ROM makes you see how different people have lived and to show our children was great. You learn about these times in school, but to see it first hand is amazing. We loved the dinosaur exhibit, Egypt, seeing Zuul and Rome. We have a yearly pass so we didn’t see everything because we will be going back a lot.
Whether you're a tourist, new to Toronto, or you've lived your whole life here, the ROM is a must every season. The exhibits are incredible, and they never stay the same for long!
If you are a parent to young inquisitive minds and live in the Greater Toronto Area, I highly recommend getting a yearly pass. It's a great way to spend a morning or afternoon, and the staff at the ROM are constantly updating and adding new exhibits.
Took my family there! The group admission should be revised. The place very organized, clean, amazing for all generations, need more than a day. Alot of information to be learned from this place
One of the best museums I had visited.
I’ve been coming to the Royal Ontario Museum for the last 28 years and it has definitely continued to get better with age. This is a very family-friendly activity with a lot of learning opportunities. I’m always a bit humbled when I come to a high quality museum because of the incredible ingenuity of humans over thousands of years. These artifacts serve as a reminder of human potential. It’s truly an excellent place for artists seeking inspiration. 10/10 experience and worth an annual visit if you have the luxury of getting to live in Toronto!
The building architecture is very beautiful, with general admission there are lots to see, I specifically went to see Rembrandt's painting, the exhibition venue is very nice, but it didn't have as many Rembrandt's as I expected. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
"Beauty in things exists in the mind that contemplates them". (You can find this great quote on a mosaic picture on the floor on the third floor) The ROM is the keeper of the history of the ancient (and not too ancient) world in a modern, crystal shaped building. Don't even try to see it all in a day. Grab a map and pick your favorite exhibits then come back for more later. It's worth to get a membership if you visit more than once a year. I find the Treasures of the World exhibit fascinating ("gem museum") as well as the history of the world (by country/era) on the top floor. There is a dinosaur exhibit also and tons of areas for kids to see and do. It's spacious, well organized and well staffed. The cafeteria is great, too, if you're planning an all day visit, there is no need to eat elsewhere. The few pictures I'm posting with this review don't do the museum justice but hopefully they will strike your interest and visit soon. The coat check is $3/article, which is about the only negative I have to say about the ROM - I'm not a "cheap" person but at a museum like this, IMO coat the check should be free.
Housed in the Yorkville section of Toronto, this Museum has reopened to welcome visitors to share in the delightful exhibitions!
This is a must visit place in Toronto. We could have spent all day here! Definitely going back.
It was great fun! We loved the dinosaurs and mammals most. It was a good blend of education and interaction! It is definitely a must see. You should plan for about a half day here.
Love this museum! Lots of cool and interesting things to look at. A great way to spend half of your day here. My favorite is the animal exhibition. Ticket price is reasonable. Staff are friendly and helpful. A must visit in Toronto. Highly recommended.
Better than other museums worth the money 100% recommended. Make sure to go in the bio diversity area its very interesting ✨
Absolutely stunning museum that is a must see for visitors and locals alike. Make sure to get on a trip with the tour guide to get a lay of the land since this museum is massive with multiple exhibition halls spread across multiple floors. The tours that cover the highlights leave every other hour daily and the entrance fee is not expensive. There's artifacts from every century and every corner of the globe. Cannot and should not be missed.
Awesome awesome. Never expected to find treasures on display. Lot of artifacts dated back even to 2000BC. I am assuming all on display are real. Well presented. However it's easy to get lost or miss some exhibits as there are no arrows or numbering. Please number each section of exhibit so that we know where we are. The map provided was handy but ready info on boards would have been great. Example we missed Egypt because it was on a left that was not obvious. Also finding the cafe, exit and elevators was not that easy. More boards would have been very helpful.
Really Informative. There is a lot of stuff and in one trip one can only visit all the exhibits very briefly, however, if some one is studying topics related to history, minerals, Egypt or Roman empires etc there are a lot of things to explore over here. Most of the part is super clean considering the amount of people visit everyday, however, some of the exhibit glass in ground floor were not properly cleaned from inside which caused blured photos, but overall mostly its super clean. The most fascinating for me was the Egyptian mummy.
It’s a museum for both kids and adults, or kids alike adults! My kids loved seeing all kinds of the animals, dinosaurs, insects, reptiles, etc, you name it, they have it. We easily spent 3 hours here, and eve bought some cakes as snacks after long walks around. Loved it!
Gorgeous very impressive largest museum in Canada. Alluring very unique architecture and one of a kind exterior design. Looks like crown jewel of museums, Bloor street looks even more luxurious and beautiful. It hosts many exhibits and fantastic exhibitions from all over the world. You can’t see all of them in one visit but still you can see a lot of fabulous sculptures, exhibits, arts and much more. Doesn’t matter how many times l come it’s always very interesting and fun. Fantastic area for kids on the second floor. Nice souvenir shop and selection of food. No picture or reviews do it justice you have to experience for yourself and enjoy spending time there admiring historical artwork and many fantastic exhibits. A lot to learn. Wonderful day to spend through pieces of history. Mesmerizing.❤️????????
I can't help it! I love the ROM. I'm definitely a bit biased, but it's still an amazing museum with outstanding exhibits and a surprisingly good cafe. The only problem I have is that I'm short, to be honest. The real human mummy was genuinely spooky but the museum is amazing.
I thought this museum was well done! I throughly enjoyed the mineral exhibit along with the Regional histories. I picked up a few facts on my visit and that’s something I’ll always be able to take with me. The layout of the building can be confusing at first, but they offer tours constantly with well informed hosts.
For observers with a lot of time in hand, this place is heaven to observe the historical artifact of various cultures and countries. Take a map from the entry point and try visiting all the sanctions as they have their own significance. Try the T-Rex photo taking thing near its fossil, it sends your photo with real T-Rex in background to your email ID. The whole visit depends on how big of an observer you are, ranging from 3 hours to whole day. It's well maintained and worth a visit.
Went here while on a business trip to do some site seeing during the weekend. Nice display of different cultures throughout time. Relative heavy focus on the classical civilizations: Mesopotamia, China, Egypt, Greece, Rome and Europe. Loved to exhibition on Native American culture. Liked the special exhibition about whales. Lay out not intuitive though. Loud children.
I had the great time. I did the dinosaurs expo (perm.), the Great Whales (temp.), the Dawn of Life (perm.) and the Wildlife photographer of the year (temp.). I truely recommand to take the day to go there : so much to do, so much to see ! You can bring the children, there is a lot for them to see.
This place is so inspiring and just amazing for kids and adults alike! 100% worth it visit after visit. The hands on exhibits are super fun and when we went, they even had live animals. Amazing! USEFUL TIPS: There is a coat check after you present your ticket so keep that in mind if the entrance coat check is packed. You can bring your lunch and eat it in the cafe and skip the super pricey on site option. They have a TTC discount that's actually really good too! Enjoy!!
It's such an amazing architecture from the first sight. You can book the tickets online before going. Multiple kinds of the animal from underwater, land, sky, insects,... Especially the mighty dinosaurs part. Must try to have a wonderful experience!! Besides that, the souvenir shop also has lovely items suitable for the kids and jacket holding service is available at good prices.
So much to learn from the amazing ROM. Now that my kids are older and understand the importance of knowledge related to the diversity of cultural and art history it is a well spent day full of great exploration. I'm thinking to buy the pass and go more often.
This museum simply blew my mind. It is so huge with genuine archaeological pieces from various civilizations (Chinese, Egyptians, Indian, Roman, African, and others) This is exactly the right place to take your kids and learn about history. My kids are 9 and 12 and they were extremely interested especially with the stuffed animal section and the Gallery of Gems and Gold.
Top quality museum with a solid selection of exhibits for both old and young alike. You can spend all day or just a few hours there. Highlights: Bat Cave, Dinosaur Exhibits, Egypt, and Ontario wildlife. Please note some areas are closed due to Covid though. We thought the bat cave would be closed but surprisingly it was open!
It’s a great experience went there with my family they loved it there was all kinds of things to explore they had fun exploring the dinosaurs the staff were really helpful and friendly they told us a lot about some dinosaurs my favourite part of it all was the rock minerals and ancient China’s furniture and weapons etc. Overall it was a great experience and I would come again. (btw there is seating areas where you can sit if you’re tired because I assure you won’t finish looking at the whole museum but you will be tired)
Great! Very big with many, many items. From Asie culture (Japan, Korea, China) to Europe culture , from African culture to American culture (but I don't see items about South East Asia culture ). The antiques are diverse and abundant. The display area for dinosaurs and other animals (Jurassic) is the most attractive. I was really surprised. Kids will definitely love this area. A place worth visiting when you come to Toronto
They just re-opened for Stage 3. This is my experience. Tickets need to be purchased in advance and at slotted for different times. We arrived 30 minutes after our slated time slot and there were no issues. They scan the tickets (if you bought more than one) and you're free to enter. Masks are required and must be worn inside at all times. The popular exhibits, there are more people. The dinosaurs and the China exhibit. Each exhibit had one way markings on the floor. For the busier exhibits people generally follow the rules. For the not busier ones, there's generally no one around anyway. Most (if not all) of the interactive displays have been turned off. Any exhibits that allow patrons to touch the exhibits are now touch prohibited. As a result, for our 4 year old daughter, she was bored. She enjoyed looking at the dinosaur skeletons, but after that there was nothing for her that held her interest. There was a section where she was banging on a steel chair, but that wasn't an exhibit. After 1 hour, she asked us if we could go home. So we did. Overall, the trip was good. If you have younger kids, probably better to wait until they are older as they will lose interest especially if there is nothing to do but look at stuff with no touching.
The museum was quite big and had an area for most of the continents and their history. If you get the city pass ($78 US) you'll save about $80 and be able to visit a variety of things including the museum, CN tower, the aquarium, Toronto Zoo, and Casa Loma. The museum has about 4 stories of different things. I like the stone/ liberal exhibit because it was just amazing and had a ton of different beautiful minerals. The Asia exhibit was amazing as well. I liked the medieval armor to the musketeers exhibit.
We had a great time here, the kids loved it. Some of the interactive activities were closed but enjoyable still. Also with the amount of people being restricted the overall experience was better.
Wow, what a museum! Having been to a lot of museums across Europe, Middle East and Asia, this one really stands out. Full of interesting insights and displays, without being overbearing or boring. The museum gives an awesome overview of a lot of world history. The exhibit on 3rd floor on the evolution of European style was a highlight, as well as the excellent Chinese exhibits on the ground floor. Great gift shop at the end as well
It's a good place to view exhibits about history, different worlds, animals and such in a beautiful building. The newer exhibits are not as exiting as the old ones and quite a few floors seem to be moved around a lot to make way for other exhibits which at times stops the flow from exhibit to exhibit. Overall I enjoy going to the ROM and will be going back. Being a member does have it perks and is a welcome addition to our household.
The museum is nice but I like the one in NYC a lot better. Some of the exhibits cost extra and the tickets are pretty expensive. Jemstone hall was really nice.
The great whales exhibition was phenomenal and we really enjoyed it. I took my daughter for her first trip to museum and she did have great time. Only issue we had was lack of proper signage and direction.
Amazing place, if you are a person who like to read all of the plaques and spend time looking you could easily spend a whole day there. As for the special exhibitions I went to the whale and it was pretty big to see the bones and skeleton which was great.
Great place to visit, especially on a day when weather is bad and you can't do anything outdoors. The main highlights and must-visit sections are bat cave, dinosaur and Egypt exhibit.
Same as always but special exhibits and a few of the regular areas are closed. Many of the touch screens were not operable. A very few of them had QR codes that visitors can scan for more information but the vast majority (like about 90%) did not which was a problem with a few of the exhibits because we didn't know what we were looking at. Still, the ROM is large and airy with many beautiful and extraordinary things to look at so worth the visit, especially with their 50% off ticket pricing. Not many things to do during shutdown due to COVID19 pandemic and the museum wasn't crowded.
Absolutely amazing. You could go in at 10am and stay there till closing and still would have seen half of what is there to see.
The ROM is incredible. One day isn’t enough to visit all the exhibits. The temporary exhibits are also great. I recently visited the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2019 show and it was spectacular. I highly recommend visiting, especially if you’re into photography. Each image has a short description to accompany it, as well as the equipment and settings used to capture the image.
Amazing experience..it will take around 3 hrs to finish the whole thing. Beautifull demonstration of history. Highly recommended.!
This is some amazing architecture. Located in downtown Toronto, the museum has some of the best interiors and good exterior views.
Love love love this location.
Always love coming here, and even better with free tickets on a Friday night where there's food and booze too. Possibly good for a date night if youre into history. Or if you imbibe enough liquid courage, or just don't care, hit the wide open dance floor. There appeared to be at least two of them.
Went as part of my CityPass, otherwise wouldn't have visited. Really recommend using the CityPass if you're going sightseeing around Toronto. It's decently ventilated for a museum of its kind and clean, but the exhibit areas feel cramped. The exhibit displays are uninspired and boring like it's the 90s. If you look at the bird display in my photos you'll see it looks cool, but it's less educational/imaginative as all the birds are in basically one similar flight position. If you want a museum, it's your stereotypical museum. If you want a fun and educational day with your loved ones and this is the main attraction, you'll want to add something else in with it. Gift shop also just as dreary. Definitely not returning unless I have relatives coming, they want to kill time and there's absolutely nothing else to do.
World class museum with frequent updates and new exhibits being added all the time. You could spend an entire day visiting one exhibit. So much content and very informative. Very worth the price of admission and even paying for the featured exhibits is worth it.
Great spot to go with the family. Very informative for people of all ages and backgrounds. Lots of walking, would be best to get the membership and see it over the course of a few months. The shop could be a little better to target tourists.
This place is HUGE. We went there at opening hours (10am) and we haven't even visited all galleries until closing (5:30pm). For first time visitors, take the free map and guided tour. The guide will show the highlights to help you decide what galleries you want to visit. This can save you time. The entire day is not enough to enjoy everything the museum has to offer! Also, don't hesitate to buy from ROM's boutique to support the institution and research. ROM is a place any tourist (even locals) must visit. Stay curious!
Rom! Before anything else I must point out 2nd Monday of every month post 5 PM is free entry for all!! I didn’t know about this so just want to make sure everyone’s aware. My nephew loved the dinosaur floors and they have activities for kids to discover bones on the same floor. Amazing educational experience. I personally loved all the exhibits. What stood out for me was the early version of the holy Quran as well as items that belonged to the holy prophet pbuh. Great representation and beautifully made museum. The locations fun too as it’s right on bloor! The bat cave was a one of its kind spooky experience but one that I’m glad I had.
Great experience and had so much fun walking around. Definitely would come again with family and friends
Always something you haven't seen or read in a museum. The ROM has some great exhibits and I was pleasantly surprised by the self guided audio tour with signs on the ground. The Egyptian and Roman sections are always a favorite. We spent 3 hours touring the extra exhibition on level 3 plus all the staple sections on that floor. We loved the period showrooms - felt like walking through Ikea but through Renaissance, Victorian and other eras. We didn't even make it to level 2 with dinosaurs and nature. Many of the exhibits and artifacts don't have enough lighting - so it's hard to see some of the valuable items. Overall, a great afternoon.
I've been going here since I was a child, and my family had memberships for years. I love it here. It's peaceful, the perfect place to take photos, visit with friends and chat. And it's full of interesting exhibits, every single time I go. It's clean, the COVID precautions are good. My only sadness is that they closed the fashion exhibit, which was my favourite exhibit, no matter how small it was I always loved going.
It's a wonderful museum, I super recommend, if you're in Toronto you hafta go.
The museum is excellent, and huge. Don’t try to see it all in one day. If you only only have a few hours, plan your visit, or you will wander lost in the many exhibits, and miss the ones you wanted to see. The dinosaur section is top notch.
They are already open. Nice museum. They have a lot of interesting stuff. It wasn't too crowded. The price of the tickets is reasonable. The ROM is open and delighted to welcome visitors back to their must-see exhibitions and expansive galleries. The Museum’s large physical footprint and wide-open spaces, combined with timed-ticketing and comprehensive safety measures, offer a safe and welcoming place to reconnect and re-engage this summer. You can read Visitor Guidelines for current safety protocols, based on recommendations by the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, and book your visit today
A vast variety of cultural objects spread over 3 floors from every part of the world. Chinese & Japanese to European and everything in between. The dinosaur exhibition is fantastic as well. The nature hands-on section is perfect for children. It is recommended getting there early as it can get busier later in the day, plus it can take several hours if you decide to take your time.
Spend a day in there, it's worth while. Nice to take the kids for a cultural walk. The natural history museum is very cool. There are dinosaurs! They allow you to leave to a break and return, so you can take lunch, relax and return to complete your visit.
Went specifically for the Wildlife photography of the year and was not disappointed, amazing setup, not crowded at all (due to the timed entrances) and a great experience, it is a really good exhibit, very well thought out. FYI there is no coat check due to covid but they told us it will be available again in a couple of weeks.
We planned 2 hours for the museum as the previous visitors suggested that time frame is enough to go around. But if you are a museum buff, I recommend you keep more hours. We were very tired when reached there. The museum would close at 5.30 pm, so we did not have much time as we would like. But museum is amazing. The architecture is amazing and the collection and knowledge it provides is humongous. A little tip, carry a water bottle.
Highly recommend checking out the current Egyptian Mummies exhibit at the ROM. The exhibition features a new and fascinating view "into" the Mummies, using MRI/CT scan technology! Lots of information and visuals on this civilization's way of life.
To see all the sections, it’ll probably take you 5/6 hours. Love the “Treasures of Earth”. Didn’t know there are so many minerals in the world. Very pretty! You can also see real mummies here:)
First time visiting this place after being in Toronto my whole life! Glad I did this place is amazing and rich in history. Be sure to check out all the free tours they have available when you got here, Definitely worthy he admission fee here since there is a lot of do and see! Amazing place for family’s to come and tourist visiting the city!
Great experience. No complaints whatsoever. Very informative information on each and every item on exhibit, and so much to see that you simply can't do it all in one day (at least not in a detailed manner - you need to skim if you want to see it all). Highly recommended if you enjoy history and learning more about the world around you. There's something for just about everyone here.
Such a great place to visit. A must go place for museum lovers. Such a big museum. Can be compared with Natural History or Met museums of NYC
Very interesting place to explore. In addition, you could know more about lots of things in Canada like the diversity of creatures, the history of some civilization, some antique furniture, articles and much more. It'll take 3-4hrs maximum, pretty much longer. I highly recommend this place for those people who are interested in exploring the previous time.
This is a museum for everyone, and likewise not everything is for everyone. I personally enjoyed the animal and dinosaur sections a lot.. And also the Asian exhibit. I am partial to the dunkleosteus, and they have a huge skull here so definitely a bonus in my opinion. There are tons to see no matter what you're interested in.
They don’t seem to know what they’re doing in terms of the organization of the pieces. The prehistoric exhibit has random pieces from other exhibits just thrown in the corner, and there’s so many hallways that just lead to dead ends. It sort of looks like a hodgepodge of scraps they were able to get from other world museums such as the MET in New York and the British Museum. For supposedly one of the top museums in Canada, I was kind of disappointed. It seems more like a local museum than the crown jewel of their biggest city. Countries like China, Japan, India, Singapore, France, the UK, and the US have way more interesting museums. I would definitely look into traveling there instead of Toronto.
The Whale Exhibit is fantastic! We bought our tickets online and all COVID protocols were followed. It was very interesting and enjoyable.
Just spent time in the dinosaur and Egypt sections. Was not impressed with the Egypt section, however the dinosaur section was amazing! All covid protocols in place. Maps available inside the museum and also on their website.
Definitely worth the try.
Visited the ROM in August of last year. They had free admission for front line workers, so I took my family there for some summer time fun. The museum wasn't that packed then, we were able to access almost all of the exhibits on each floor. My favourite area was the Indigenous culture and community.
Established on 16 April 1912 and opened on 19 March 1914, the museum has maintained close relations with the University of Toronto throughout its history, often sharing expertise and resources. The museum was under the direct control and management of the University of Toronto until 1968, when it became an independent Crown agency of the Government of Ontario.Today, the museum is Canada's largest field-research institution, with research and conservation activities around the world. With more than 6,000,000 items and 40 galleries, the museum's diverse collections of world culture and natural history contribute to its international reputation.[6] The museum contains a collection of dinosaurs, minerals and meteorites; Canadian, and European historical artifacts; as well as African, Near Eastern, and East Asian art. It houses the world's largest collection of fossils from the Burgess Shale with more than 150,000 specimens. The museum also contains an extensive collection of design and fine art, including clothing, interior, and product design, especially Art Deco.
Great museum. No one will feel time passing. Very well done: entertaining and educating. Lot of things to discover. No way to go around in one day. The oriental section at the first floor can take 3 hours or more if you want to see everything. We came the sunday of easter weekend and It was not crowded at all. We found a cheap parking in a nearby shopping building at 8$ for all day. Recommended
Really nice experience. So much history and cultural heritage from around the world.
There is almost too much to experience here in a day. Be prepared to read. My wife did not enjoy her experience as she mostly enjoys more interactive experiences. We both really loved the paleontology section though! The place is just huge though, so be ready for a long day if you want to get the full experience. For some reason we were not asked for our proof of vaccination if that is important to you.
My first time visiting ROM! I had a ticket for The Wale exhibition! I love wales and was supper excited for it ! I liked it however they could be more creative and present wales better by playing the magical wale sound on the background ! The sound is magical and I wish they could present that magical sound to the people . Also I was very disappointed when I saw the Middle East section!! It was very limited and I found it incomplete and biased! THERE WERE NO section or item to present Persian culture as one of the most important historical cultures in the middle east. Anyways, as an Iranian I felt the lack and was upset about it. (Advise me if I was blind ) I loved the gem/stone section! Magical ! About The last photo : that chair was supper cool and comfy ! Lol
Thank you staff of ROM, for such a great experience...my daughter was in awe of all the history, science and geography that she learned!
The ROM is a must visit but not just once for everyone. Time set pré-purchase tickets made getting in very easy and the experience begins once you get past the friendly greeters. 3 floors of vast time line coverage to satisfy us all. Incredible displays and loads of information. Most all interactive kiosks were not accessible but that did not dampen the enjoyment at all.
Not very interesting. There are way better "generic" museums with more interesting displays with better cronological distributions of items. The dinosaurs section is kind of cool, but the rest you would be better served in other museums
ROM is one of the largest museums I have ever visited. It is spread over 5 levels, underground, ground, first, second and third. Pretty huge to cover in one single visit (ofcourse if you wish to read all the information about the collection), the museum hosts a pretty vast collection of age old fossils (this will remind you of Jurasic Park movie), Egyptian coffins (The Mummy) and asian artifacts. Geology and minerals department will surely remind you of Sheldon and/ or Amy Santiago. I personally liked this part. Not giving full stars just for one reason- the tour was very complex in terms of exploring various sections and areas of the museum (the map is not that useful on 1 and 2 levels). Rest, if you like seeing something you cannot own (these collectibles are pretty expensive to have), this is something you should not miss.
Must Go, Definitely. - Knowledgeable, friendly staff (Thanks to all of them) - Clean and neat - Good ventilation - Different areas you could get the ticket for (I got the general visit) - Lighting in African heritage hall needs attention, the windows and objects were not well lit. - Good food in the basement restaurant. - Multimedia material like audio descriptions were uploaded on sound cloud, and some on you tube and some had broken links, I believe as Toronto Royal Museum they could do a way much better job when it comes to multimedia especially in Covid era. - Don't take your kids there, unless you have a plan, they'll get board and will not let you and others enjoy the beauties there (love you kids☺️). What are you waiting for? Pay a visit.????????
It’s so good experience to visit here. I stayed in the museum about 4 hours, but still don’t wanna leave. ???? I have visited many Chinese museums in China. This one is more interesting
There’s so many things to see at the ROM. We had less than 2 hours before closing, and wish we had more time. Each floor is full of amazing artifacts! Very informative, quick lines to get in, and worth visiting - especially with the CITY PASS. We will be back!
The best of all is that they have free tours of the museum daily. For 45 minutes there is a guide who explain different things. I loved it. On the day I have visited it was full of kids - who are not quite at all - so I felt like at the farmers market not in a museum. It was impossible to find a quiet place and enjoy the artifacts and read in silence about them, like you do in other museums. I have been in a children’s museum before - today was just like that.
I’m a history major from York university! The museum is like second home basically lol. I love this place no what exhibits they have going on. The Egyptian Mummy exhibit was my absolute favourite though so far! Great job to the ROM team for all their hard work and efforts. I really wish I could have seen the pompeii exhibit.
Its beautiful and elegant but now it's closed
Amazing building! Canadians are so talented at mixing old a modern architectural styles. This museum is once again a splendid mix of both! On top of their great collections, the building is breathtaking. I recommend visiting it early as their are fewer people and the time spent there is therefore more enjoyable. After the visit, the little public square in front of the entrance is good to listen to some local artists. The surrounding neighborhood is also to be visited!
This is one of my favorite attractions in Toronto. It has an unbelievable collection of Asian culture, especially Chinese. I was also amazed by the dinosaur fossils exhibition. By far one of the best I've ever seen. The First People's gallery is AMAZING! Be sure to check out. Loved it!
It's best museum ever I visited because it contains things from all around the world. It contains history of China, japan, India, Middle East, Europe, Africa and all around the world. It also contains all history about first nation people of North America. It contains things all around the world which are very very old. The Older thing I have seen was 4000 years old. It also contains all kinds of animals bodies and fish and birds. It's really royal per it's name. It was best and one kind of experience. If you come to Toronto you must have to go there for once. Sitting and parking arrangements are really good.
Two great and inspiring exhibits well worth the price. The spider exhibit has tons of interactive displays—engaging and appropriate for all ages. The Iris van Herpen exhibit coincides nicely with the spider one. You can see how so many of her concepts were inspired by nature. Her prolific collections are incredible and imaginative. She definitely blurs the lines of fine art sculpture and high fashion in a very provocative way. Never a dull moment at the ROM!
It's always a pleasure going to see different parts of the world's and human history. It's a perfect date for everyone!
If you are in Toronto for a few days and you have the time, you absolutely must visit the ROM. There are so many different exhibitions. It's impossible to be bored here. One minor flaw is that the descriptions of the items is a bit short, and sometimes missing. It would be nice to know what you're looking at sometimes.
A wonderful space. Could easily spend an entire day here. Great learning opportunity. If you are supervising active children, it would be best to discuss with them the museum etiquette before entering the museum. It was a learning experience for my communication skills.
The staff at ROM did a great job to keep the place and the exhibits clean. Highly recommended
After all these years, it's still a wonderful place to bring the kids and visit as an adult. Always find it beneficial and a great learning experience.
This museums is extraordinary, you will need more than one day to see it all, so you better plan a route of what you want to see instead of visiting it floor by floor. Viking exhibition is 12 dollars extra but it is totally worth it. I will suggest to avoid visiting on weekends since there are lots of people.
Great Experience I came back
Overcrowded at times but with plenty of things to do and check out. You'll likely need a couple of days to fully explore. Rotating special exhibitions cost extra, some of them are totally worth it. Easily accessible via transit, you may want to wrap up your visit with a stroll through Philosophers Walk. There are some very decent eating options at the museum's basement, or you could always bring your own food.
This place is worth every penny. The ticket prices are quite affordable, students get discounts as well. The staff are quite friendly, there are signs everywhere so you can never get lost, they even give you a free map by the information desk. There are free tours almost hourly and if you get tired of exploring there are seats everywhere, which really helps if your physically disabled in any way. There are both stairs and elevators to all floors and all floors are wheelchair accessible. The exhibits are great, and the information provided for each artefacts are very helpful, well written and well explained. You'll absolutely love the variety and depth of things to see. One moment I was looking at the skeleton of a creature from millions of years ago and the next I was looking at medieval Knight suits! I truly enjoyed my visit to the Royal Ontario Museum.
I always enjoy this museum. It really has something for everyone. At moments the order if the items and groupings I found odd but this is minor. Since I come from Ottawa where we have a good natural museum and Canadian, I particularly like the Asian, Greek, Roman, middle eastern, South Asian and European sections. The price is very reasonable for the size of collection. I do suggest coming in the morning if you want to see most of the museum. Going quickly, it is tough to finish in a day. They allow in and out privileges with a wrist band which is helpful to get a break from the mask we all need to wear now. I found the store's prices have gone up and few items are affordable now in my opinion. That is top bad as it did not used to be like that.
This is one of my favorite attractions in Toronto. It has an unbelievable collection of Asian culture, especially Chinese. I was also amazed by the dinosaur fossils exhibition. By far one of the best I've ever seen. The First People's gallery is AMAZING! Be sure to check out. Loved it!
This is our favorite museum in Toronto. We are visiting it at least twice a year. It’s a great place for kids and adults. Our top is Egyptian Hall and Dinosaurs hall. We really liked the Mummies exhibition from last year too. And latest Blue Whale exhibition is wonderful!
Current Great Whales special exhibit features the world's only preserved Blue Whale heart and some very impressive skeleton displays! A great learning experience to understand human impact on their livelihood, and how we need to change for the better.
I had a lovely time at the ROM. I treated myself to a day. Haven't been back there since my College days which was 24 years ago. It was a much needed escape from today's world, into the wonderful world of the past. I also learned a lot about our Whales and was completely impressed by the sheer scale and grandeur of these majestic creatures.
My favourite place in the city. I became a member at the ROM when working a schedule that only allotted me time of during the week so I needed something to do by myself on a weekday. The ROM delivered. Beautifully curated exhibits, both permanent and temporary, and a lovely quiet environment inclusive of all ages and interests. So excited for this year's installation of Nature Photographer of the Year.
Wonderful collections of art from all over the world. The second floor is the most visited, especially for children, where you can see and learn about the pre-historical era, how dinosaurs went extinct and see how grand and beautiful they were. Third floor shows the ancient history of different civilizations. Ground floor is dedicated to the ancient Asian cultures and the like. At the entrance, you can see the First Nations exposition. Best time to begin your visit is right after it opens, around 10:30 and you can spend 2 to 3 hours to walk and enjoy the atmosphere.
You will find something here for everyone. From dinosaurs to mummies you will learn so much. Take your time and read all the facts you find during your time there. Don’t rush yourself as there is a lot to see. I would say you can easily spent 4 hours here. The museum is easily accessible throughout so those with mobility issues shouldn’t worry. This is a great way to spend your day
ROM is an amazing museum with plenty to see for all age groups, tourist, locals and museum lovers a like. I advise you come early. You'll be here a while. Reasonable pricing for what you're getting. Some of the exhibits were a bit random and displace but all in all a great place to visit if you're in the area.
So much fun! Really amazing architecture inside and lots of wonderful exhibits that make you think. The folks who work here are so friendly too!
My 5 yo daughter is obsessed of skeleton topic. We spent in Museum 3,5!!! hours and she didn’t want go away ???? Only one sad moments is local fast food. We met here a strange service, not tasted food and uncomfortable atmosphere. I guess we will become a member ???? Ps: highly recommended to use SpotHero APP to find the most acceptable price for parking near here
Clean and organized. Big and spacious museum. The dinosaur floor is a win for the kids and the most packed. In other floors/exhibits, Not so much of the Displays are so archaic but still worth a visit.. The artist's exhibition is also a nice one, they help in introducing promising artists. We enjoyed our visit. We enjoyed it. My husband and I are planning to revisit again next month, maybe we'll do a Thursday instead of. Friday so it'll be less crowded.
Huge museum..too many things to see and not enough time.
many interesting stuff to look around. highly recommend the membership program for locals. well worth it.
Great experience and had so much fun walking around. Definitely would come again with family and friends
Really enjoyed my visit. There are such a large variety of exhibits spanning many different parts of the world as well as fields of interest. I particularly like the fact that it is not focused on one thing. And it's much larger than I thought, since there seems to be endless rooms and hallways It's a great way to spend a few hours. Very educational and enjoyable.
Weekend
The ROM is a must visit but not just once for everyone. Time set pré-purchase tickets made getting in very easy and the experience begins once you get past the friendly greeters. 3 floors of vast time line coverage to satisfy us all. Incredible displays and loads of information. Most all interactive kiosks were not accessible but that did not dampen the enjoyment at all.
Amazing place to visit at least once also ! If you have kids, this is the best place to come. Children will definitely enjoy and learn a lot. They have really segregated every section very precisely and have kept games in few sections which made the museum more interesting and interactive for the children . Have tried to showcase everything in a way that children learn things in their own.
Fall in love with ROM from first step: outdoor on entrance is a rain protected waiting area. Inside is clean and fresh. A stand with maps is ready for visitors. Notes are guided in the exhibitions. Each room is unique. Need more time for sure to digest all the information.
Always a magical way to spend a few hours or an entire day. We checked out the new special exhibit on great whales and we walked around a few of the other exhibits as well. As a child I'd been many times, and this museum may be one of the only places I've been that doesn't get diminished by the passage of time. Totems still seem amazingly tall and impressive, animals are still vivid and lifelike, and the dinosaurs are as imposing and mind boggling as they were when I was young. If I lived in Toronto still, I'd be a member for sure.
I had low expectations before heading over there but I was proven wrong. We were there for 3 plus hours and we still had more to explore. They have beautiful artwork and they also give out a lot of good information for each artwork. I definitely recommend going.
The most well known museum in Ontario. I have found many precious items to observe. Most amazing one is the Mummy from Egypt. It also has many temporary galleries, I would recommend to check before visit since temporary galleries contain various themes. I did not like the way that museum is arranged, it is out of order and very confusing. I would prefer to walk in chronological order and to have a guide or walk signs to help me out. But anyway a museum is always good to visit.
Great night time experience to go in and listen to some music and enjoy some good food. A bit pricey for the food and drinks but otherwisegrrat time. We got to see some of what the ROM had to offer, but was hoping more areas were open. But everyone was there to see Maestro anyways.
Beautiful collection. Highly recommended for all the art fans.
This is one of the best museums I've ever been to. There's so much to see you so you can't get thru it all unless you go early. There's an impressive display of Canada's First People; a detailed history of Natives. There's a large collection of various cultures where you can fully emerge in the rich cultures of the world. The second floor is dedicated to nature; plants, animals, and ecosystems. It's a wonderful place to visit but parking is limited.
Royal Ontario Museum, or ROM, ranks among the best museums I've been to. It has a very wide range of artifacts from many of the world's ancient civilizations, up to more recent periods. Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, American etc. I especially liked the European Baroque, Rococo, Victorian and other eras, featuring furniture and living rooms. All in all an excellent museum, and make sure you come well before closing. I was there for about four hours, taking my time for the first three, then quickening the pace in the last hour to make it through all the rooms.
One of the highlights of my trip. This museum is very diverse. You have culture, art, geology, and nature. I would say you need around 3 hours to visit this place. For sure do the free tours inside which gives you more info on the unique pieces.
Hadn't been since the 90's. Wow what a blast! I will be back with family. Don't miss it.
Full of surprises!! I was only planning on spend 1-2 hours here, ending being a full day of adventures!
Went there today and had an awesome time, many things to see and read about, I loved the statues and they have a wide selection of everything, animals and history and many more. We wanted to stay longer but they close early every day, I think opening till 5:30pm is not enough time, and we haven’t finished checking everything out! The other thing I wasn’t satisfied about is that some areas in the museum requires payment to enter, I mean we already paid a ticket at the entrance, which I think it’s ridiculous to charge us more. So for those reasons I gave it 4 stars. Despite that, I absolutely loved the European exhibit and the ancient Egypt as well, overall was a wonderful experience, I highly recommend it ????
This is a really cool history museum, one of the best I’ve ever been to. The building itself was very unique, and getting to it is quite easy. The staff inside was very helpful and they seemed to go out of their way to help you. Also the exhibits were displayed well and the artifacts they have are well worth remembering !
A wonderful museum with exhibits and collections covering a wide range of natural and historical areas - dinosaurs, Egypt, mummies, armour, social and family life, ancient Greece and Rome. The architecture is interesting, as it includes the original 1914 building and the 21st-century Crystal addition. Includes a nice museum shop. Definitely a place for both locals and tourists, adults and children.
Always awesome. New exhibits are fantastic. Dinosaurs and fossils never get old. Something everyone will find interesting.
I think I'll start off by saying this museum is HUGE!!! I think it's the biggest and most detailed musuem I've ever been to. There's so much to see, which is great, but at the same time I felt overwhelmed with so many things to look at and take in and grasp. There's about 4 floors and they're all very large. There's a map you can get on the first floor to help decipher where everything is but sometimes the map itself can be a bit hard to realize where to go since the building is split up in to like 4 sections on each floor and then you get lost as to which way you're facing and whatnot. It's a lovely museum but I think it's better to split up your visit in to 2 or 3 instead of trying to take it all in in just 1 day. I felt like I had to rush myself to continue walking and glancing instead of stopping and enjoying the exhibits. Beautiful museum for sure though. Hopefully I can go back to Toronto some day and visit again to see more.
One amazingly designed museum, It combines modern and vintage building designs which makes a great subject for a photo. The museum is located in heart of downtown Toronto with lots of tourist attractions around that makes a great walking location and straight go for tourists. Unfortunately its temporarily closed when I visited in March 2021 due to COVID restrictions but definitely planning to see the art inside!
For anyone with even a slightest interest in history and architecture, this is a must see. Lots of collections and it’s all neatly organized. Liked the fact that there’s not a lot of walking to do. Kids will have a good time too.
I absolutely loved visiting the Royal Ontario Museum. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with one of earth's most ancient giants - Titanosaur! With every level (floor) you visit, you step into a different chapter of history and get to experience the beauty and wonders of past civilizations. Truly a unique and wonderful experience! And Would totally recommend to youngsters, teenagers and adults alike. The only disappointment I have is not having enough time to view everything and visit all the floors. The Museum closes quite early everyday, and I would have loved to have had a little more time to visit all the floors and immerse myself into the "live" history lesson ????
The ROM is a great place to spend the day especially if it is too hot or rainy to do things outside. We brought our children (ages 5 and 7) and they really liked the dinosaur exhibit and the gem stone exhibit. If you haven't checked out the new First Nations exhibit, I recommend it. Lots of information about weaponry, clothing, residential schools and culture. There isn't a lot of food to choose from in the basement cafeteria and outside food is not permitted. A little coffee shop would be a nice alternative to the bleak basement cafeteria.
One of the most interesting, diverse and eclectic museums I've visited in the world. I was thoroughly impressed and plan to return again and again. The permanent collection is something to behold, and certainly something one can take their time with perusing. The ROM tends to bring in some really unique and mesmerizing exhibits on occasion that are utterly fascinating. I highly recommend comfortable shoes as you'll want to spend a good chunk of time there! Check out my photographs.
It was a pure bliss. Fantastic place. My only complaint is that Rembrandt's painting preview was for only members. It should be open from day one. There are other ways to collect ????
you have to see your most interested exhibit first. or else you lost your energy. the special exhibit are worth it. The China exhibit were stunning.
The new whales exhibit is breath taking, My 5 years old was very impressed
Really nice museum but many artifacts are replicas and not the real thing, which takes away from the experience.
What a memorable visit! You can definitely spend a full day here exploring the different levels and reading through each artifact. It gets really busy but the space is so large it doesn't feel like it. The museum was mapped out very clearly for you to navigate around. Worth the visit!
One of the best museum in Canada. Amazing diversity of expositions and very well presented. A++
Super fun way to spend a day with the family, even during Covid. Not super expensive. A lot of great things to see !
Magical place. Didn’t spend nearly enough time. Kids were too crabby and tired, but from the few rooms were visited they looked educational and interesting.
Best museum ever
We planned 2 hours for the museum as the previous visitors suggested that time frame is enough to go around. But if you are a museum buff, I recommend you keep more hours. We were very tired when reached there. The museum would close at 5.30 pm, so we did not have much time as we would like. But museum is amazing. The architecture is amazing and the collection and knowledge it provides is humongous. A little tip, carry a water bottle.

A really lovely place to spend a morning or an afternoon.
Really good place to spend your weekend, lots of interesting things to see. My favourite is the section where you can see different kinds of gems. General ticket is enough for a 2-3 hour visit. Special ticket is required for full access. Food: Cafeteria is available downstairs. Parking: Green P Municipal Parking is present in a walking distance from the Museum.
Very engaging exhibits. Can easily spend the whole day going through them. Dinos through the ages always fascinate.
Great place to visit with your kids. The only problem is food is not allowed from outside and there is not any food court inside.
One could spend a day here. History at its very best. From the ancient Egyptians and dino's to ceramic, minerals and nature. Amazing collection of artifacts and exhibits.
Huge and beautiful. Kids love it.
A staple to a visit to Toronto! Lots to learn from diverse exhibits that are visually, mentally, and physically engaging. The museum's programming offers added opportunities to enjoy the learning experience. The ROM has something for everyone, from biodiversity to human history to geology. The temporary exhibits like Zuul and the Wildlife Photography Contest bring new material regularly to complement the excellent permanent collections. The gift shop has a great selection of niche items to suit a wide variety of interests.
Interesting. Spacious. Certain areas closed owing to Covid but still worth the money. The Gem exhibits and the animal exhibits are amazing. Mask is mandatory. Green P parking closest to the venue is at 7, Bedford Road, Toronto. Parking fee payable at the machine installed at the exit. Don't look for it at the parking premises or by the roadside.
Everyone must visit this museum! Please plan all day for this unique place! There’s tons of interesting staff to learn. All our kids was happy even with 3 hours walking. Safe, clean and almost no real people :)
I really love it, you need to take your time to appreciate each of the 4 levels fulls of the history, escultures, paintings and architecture of the different cultures around the world. The collection of dinosaurs fossils is Amazing and so impressive. You can find a souvenir store inside the museum. It's close to the subway station.
Very well maintained museum . Only thing lacking is that is doesn’t have much on aboriginal culture of Canada. Loved the time here!
Beautiful museum with a lot of content and things to do for kids and adults. The wildlife photographer of the year by Natural History Museum was awesome. Buying an yearly pass is well worth it..it allows 2 adults and 4 kids. We had fun this March break. The restaurant closes early, would appreciate if they can open till the museum closes otherwise everything was good.
Booked tickets online scanned direct from my phone and was through the door with zero wait. Exhibits and artifacts were fantastic and informative. Would love to see more on how these things from our past were made. Maybe some historical tools displayed. Bathrooms are easy to find and the pathing laid out to explore the Exhibits is well done.
As a post-secondary student, Wednesday is the perfect day for ROM because of the free admission! It was a wonderful ride through the past as we walked through the themed exhibits. The dinosaurs and the rocks were our favourite and it brought out our inner child. Would definitely visit again as its one of the best budget friendly options!
A great time is always had here. So much to see and learn. The new whale exhibit was awesome to see. I can't wait to see what they do next.
Reservation recommended
Visited the ROM in August of last year. They had free admission for front line workers, so I took my family there for some summer time fun. The museum wasn't that packed then, we were able to access almost all of the exhibits on each floor. My favourite area was the Indigenous culture and community.
Nice Museum but... It felt like the poor fossils were over crowded. While the stairways are huge, there seems be shortage of space for the fossils. Same for birds and insects! The gift shop had ZERO museum magnets!! How did you accomplish that? Staff doesn't know anything.. ask anyone anything and they will direct you to the front reception area. Kids enjoyed it as it was the #1 on list for my little paleontologist. But I wasn't impressed. Paid admission but not sure if the experience for worth it. Still giving a 5 stars because it made my boys very happy.
It was overall great experience. It has all sections of the world and also detailed explanations for all of them. It was great and vast place. Ideal visit for individuals, group visits as well as family visits. Just one star less because it was very big and approximately takes a full day if you were to see every single thing, so there ought to be a food court but it was not there.
ROM is always a great place to visit, great exhibits..kids love it there. The ???? exhibit is pretty cool. Highly recommend.
One of my favourite destinations. Been a member for years. It’s a marvellous place to be for families, adults and museum buffs. Their special exhibits are always on point and interesting. It’s even a great place for a date. The facilities are always maintained. Overall a great experience
At first you'll notice that this museum boasts very unique architecture and a nice modern charm without being cold like some museums There's a great collection of fossils and the ROM has hosted some great exhibitions of various categories. It's most recent being in my opinion the 'Iris Van Herpen' retrospective, which for those, like I, that appreciate craftsmanship and design, it was absolutely fantastic and allowed visitors so close to some of couture's most technically advanced works and pieces unlike any other designer. If you're also a fan of Gemology, I always find the raw and eclectic range of gems extremely interesting ???? LASTLY. TOP FLOOR. The Christianity department. WOW. MUST SEE. Always found it very quiet up there (visitors are probably exhausted after exploring everything else, but this is a MUST) ✝️ So if you're in the city I'd highly recommended a visit, and it's very child friendly too for those with kids ???????????? Enjoy ☺️
No wait
Really didn't thought i would end up liking this place, its filled with so many entertaining things.
An amazing museum, you have to plan to be there the entire day arriving early.
One of Toronto's premiere attractions for locals and tourists. Nothing like the louvre or smithsonian museums or anything but has its own unique highlights like the largest pure gold coin in the world, and in the same exhibit a gorgeous unique blue sapphire. Special exhibits are in the basement usually. Ghosts include the former head of the museum and a pale lady in white in the European exhibit on the 3rd floor. Also a treat to get there by subway and get off at Museum station, the nicest station on the TTC system.
If you want to enrich you knowledge of history this is the place. I advise you save at least three hours to go through all the exhibits. There’s an immense variety of them. If you come with kids (like us) you will need a good four hours or more. Going though the dinosaurs exhibit and Egypt, where you can see real mummies, is a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who lives in or is visiting Toronto.
The Royal Ontario Museum is a great place to spend your time. There are many different exhibits from millions of years old dinosaurs fossils to very precious gems. Sometimes there are even special events that you can attend. All in all, this is an awesome place worthy of your time.
So much to see and no way you can finish...just concentrate on things you are interested in... we were mainly on level two and we visited with two 3 year olds... really nice experience... ????
I had such a great time here. The vibe of the museum is amazing and it was so good to travel back in time. I learned a lot of new things
The natural history museum is very cool.
The whale exhibit is incredible. It is both heartbreaking and hopeful, as well as awe-inspiring with the number of physical examples of whale facts and information. The Indigenous perspectives included in this exhibit is an important component and is well done. Well-worth the time to explore in addition to the existing collections at the ROM. The 4-stars vs 5 is not the fault of the ROM, but reflective of the limited care and physical distancing of more than a few other visitors in certain areas.
Great museum for a family but it can be pretty pricey! I went with my 4 year old daughter and paid for only one of the special exhibitions along with regular entry and it was over 50$. That being said there were so many interesting things for her to see and the staff are really great with kids! I was a little disappointed because I expected there to be more of a variety of paintings to see (The Age of Rembrandt exhibition hardly had any paintings) but it a beautiful museum that takes a good amount of time to get to see everything.
Perfect with a city pass. Lots to see. Would recommend.
Great place to visit with the whole family. Lots to see, impossible to see it all in one day.
I liked the experience. Lots of walking though. Even though each area seemed to be connected the flow was between sections is not good. The staff was good and guided when asked for direction.
Great place for all ages. Interesting. They keep changing exhibits, the last couple of years the changes have been for the positive. Outside is becoming very people friendly, we live over an hour away, have a membership, and visit a couple of times a year.
Good place to visit for all history buffs. A lot of artifacts and objects are explained in good detail. There’s dinosaurs, early civilizations and colonies and then some more. They also have special exhibits going on which are available to see for an add on price to the general ticket or to the city pass.
My ROM visit helped me find several arts from different cultures and natures internationally. With the on-going pandemic, the ROM staffs has made it safer for visitors to enjoy their trip. Also, the post secondary sudents receives free passes on every Wednesdays (Don't miss it out!).
Absolutely loved the ROM!! Such an amazing place and so informative! The only thing is you can easily need more than a day to see everything. Spend too much time in one exhibit and not have enough time for another. Absolutely loved the ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian exhibits!
I visited this place on the day before Toronto’s Lockdown of the 2nd wave back in November 2020. I had the chance to view the mummies of Egypt, Photography of the Year, Winnie the pooh and the other stuff. God it was super
Great place they have dinosaurs and mid evil stuff and Egyptian stuff and lot more but I really like the 3 and you can see a actual mummy outside the case and there brain so much dinosaurs and a suit of mid evil armour
We only went in for the whale exhibit and the nature photography exhibit. Both were phenomenal! Would definitely recommend!
You can spend a few hours exploring a huge collection of ancient attractions, from fossil to hand made of human and even a complete mummy. Interesting really.
I really loved this museum , the dinosaurs were fantastic and definitely worth visiting if your into that sort of thing . As well as the rock collection
One of my favourite museum. Impressive architecture. Very diverse collections with new expositions every season. Very well layered out. the art doesn’t feel stuffy it’s spaced out. The museum collection has a Lil bit of everything you may think of . From mythical gods of India to Chinese dynasties and Persisn dynasties. Geological collection including all known metals and precious stones to men . A very nice collection of animals and birds and vast collection of dinosaurs. check their web site. definitely if you’re in Toronto and you’re an art person. ….it’s a Must
ROM IS FANTASTIC.. !! So much to see , you better wear comfortable shoes and be ready to spend at least 2 hours walking .. l repeat at least 2 hours .. !! It's easier to come by subway cause St. George ttc subway is pretty close and you don't have to worry about parking at downtown . The building itself is amazing.
Great! With kids, give yourself about 4 hours to do the main museum. If you want to do any of the special exhibitions allow extra time. I would recommend bringing your own food and drinks because they have a lunchroom you can use. The cafeteria is relatively expensive but not bad. Buy your tickets online so you can go straight to the gate and skip the ticket line.
The ROM is the best place to take your kids and let them have an exhilarating learning experience. Took my nephews and niece, 18, 13, 8, and 6, and they all enjoyed their time. They were wowed by everything the exhibit had to offer. They loved the palaeontology exhibit, wild life, and especially the dinosaur section. It was all fascinating to them, not a single moment did their attention waver. They didn’t get bored either! Come to the ROM your children need to experience this place at once in their lives. It also beats paying $30+ to the Dr. Suess exhibit. At the ROM you get so much more for only 20$ or less if you’re younger and have a presto card.
Went there for the great whale exhibit, it was nice and you get to see the whole other thing.
Staff are amazing. A very beautiful museum. A must see in toronto.
Excellent museum and one of best I’ve ever visited in North America. So many things and artifacts to explore and see. Definitely will recommend this place, and the ticket price is unbelievably reasonably priced. If you have time go and visit but expect 4 to 4.5 to see everything.
Visited this museum with my loved ones over Labor Day weekend and we had a spectacular time. My favourite part was the gemstones and looking at all the minerals. The dinosaur and animal exhibits were neat as well. Very nice museum and a lot to see for sure! Would definitely recommend this museum to anyone and everyone I know !
Good place to learn world history. Takes atleast 3 to 4 hours. No food allows.
There’s so many things to see at the ROM. We had less than 2 hours before closing, and wish we had more time. Each floor is full of amazing artifacts! Very informative, quick lines to get in, and worth visiting - especially with the CITY PASS. We will be back!
The Mummy exhibit was creative, informative and an overall delight. Using CT scans of the mummies to educate you on what was underneath the layers of linen, was an eye-opening experience. The covid19 protocols were in place and easy to follow. Having less people at the exhibit allowed you to linger a bit longer and appreciate the amazing world of mummies.
Great experience in an amazing place with my family. My son lost $150 but guess what? someone turned in the lost & found and we got the many back, WOW! Many many thanks to the person who turned the money to the awesome ROM staff❤
A really lovely place to spend a morning or an afternoon.
A must go in Ontario. It can be easily reached via the subway by getting out the SUBWAY station. The ticket for an adult is CAD 23. Have good collections on China, Europe, Natural History and Geology. Not very large if you are skimming through exhibits and go through within about 3 hours.
Beautiful museum! Dinosaurs section and whales are great!! So many interesting sections like Europe and Asia. Worth the trip to Toronto!!
Lot’s of interesting exhibits. Must for the family.
It is a beautiful museum near the city center, in the subway museum station. On the outside it is really cute, and on the inside it does not cease to surprise its staircase. If you like to see small antiques, mummies or animal skeletons, Sculptures from different continents, you can have a good time here.
This museum is great to understand the world history. Faces of statues are perfectly crafted that my camera recognize the Face. They should be more creative while describing the artifacts because many people get bored while reading it. More research and development is needed in South Asian and Canada section but overall it’s great. I hope to contribute in this museum some day.
Great well-rounded museum with an amazingly-looking building that you will be able to ignore. It was very affordable, clean, and relatively slow in business. The museum was huge and had a numerous amount of exhibits. You will need a couple of days to go though each exhibit thoroughly.
Nice place. If you are italian or european you can't expect much. But it's nice for having a huge panoramic of all the people who lived and lives the world. Not just people but also flora and fauna. The temporary exhibition are also interesting. The museum is well structured there is also a space where you can eat the food that you brought from home. If you have Kids you should bring there. There are a lot of activities all along the museum.
Great place to spend the whole day strolling through the various exhibits. The kids will love the dinosaurs and the discovery gallery. Of you plan on making multiple visits a year highly recommend a membership as that allows you to visit the special exhibits as well, plus you get a discount at the gift shop. Prices for the items at the gift shop are expensive.
Nice musuem with and interesting assortment of items in the permanent collect and rotating exhibits that are run to visit too.
I've been to a lot of museums over the years and this one is towards the top of my list of favorites. There's so much to take in yet things were broken out into logical topics. My favorite section was a wander through what various rooms within homes looked like over the centuries. This museum has everything from dinosaurs to modern day furniture!
This is one of the amezing museum in Toronto, it has several spices of dinosaur on it's real form and it has completed with alagrand architectural look.some fossils are billion year old and first time in my life I saw the real ones.other than that the super amezing part for science geek are materials it has each and every metals and its components to exhibit.it is worth visiting for once in life.
Mind blowing collection. Clean washrooms. Friendly service.
Enjoyed the time spent at ROM. Our kids were super excited
This is a museum that any first time visitor to Toronto would love to tour. It took me over an hour to walk out the entire building. There's much to see. This entire facility is vastly designed for anyone who likes to explore different cultures and other interests. It is unique to what the city of Toronto is.
Great museum featuring artifacts from a variety of cultures as well as diverse natural history. I particularly enjoyed the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian exhibits. The museum features some beautiful architecture from the exterior, but it doesn't translate to the interior and the museum is fairly difficult to navigate even with a map.
ROM, is the museum of Earth. I love dinosaurs, real Bones and really species extinction. The varieties of things to see makes it very special. I like the Egyptian history and the mummies. You can see how the ppl before 5000 years how they look like Roman section is nice as well The native section is good. The information provided on each object is wonderful. If you enjoyed the details make sure to go early morning as you need more than one day to finish it.
One of the favorite places to visit as a family. Have a membership for many years. Beautiful.
My favorite place to go in Toronto - I go at once every few months. Absolutely incredible set-up, love the building, love the exhibits. Every single floor and gallery provides you with beautiful exhibits and tons of information. I could sit in the Britain gallery for hours!
Really cool things there
We love the ROM. Our 3 year old went bananas for the Dino bones and as adults we loved the other exhibits too. During pandemic protocol there is TONS of space (pre-pandemic it could get extremely busy). We bought timed tickets ahead of time and everyone had masks on. We felt very safe which allowed us to really enjoy. It is a bit of a labyrinth and bathrooms can be hard to get to (especially if you are potty training a kiddo), so take note of bathrooms and your route if that's important to you.
I enjoyed the museum with like enthusiasts! We did comment on how we liked the older entrance over the newer one. Such a beautiful entrance with marble and stained glass, etc. I did t get what looked to be dry wall all through the new entrance. Hopefully, there will be changes. I loved the pandemic art exhibit.
Great architectural design inside and out
I had been looking forward to coming here for ages. We had dinner reservations at 5:15 so I ran out of time to find the mummy. I was RUNNING through the exhibits looking for those mummies, I’m glad I didn’t knock anything over I didn’t find them, but I’ll be back to see them once and for all :-)
One of the best museums we have ever seen. It is too big to be covered with other attractions in Toronto within one day. We took the city pass and didn’t get to see the exhibitions but it was still worth it.
Just amazing, very interesting exhibits , fun for the whole family. Recommend a season pass so you can see all items and read facts , one visit isn't enough.
Amazing! Aesthetic You'd love it.
My five years old boy had a lot of fun knowing the dinosaurs.
Fantastic museum with assortment of collections including regulars like dinosaurs, or seasonal exhibits like Zuul, whales, photographers of the year.
It was the best sightseeing place I've ever been in downtown Toronto.Being both a natural history museum and a cultural museum, it is very beneficial for children. I was happy to have a new experience for 2 hours. It's smaller than the big museums in Paris, London, New York, and Seoul, but I could feel full
Museum is a huge place for kids. I just went around quickly, however it took more than 2hours. Inside was warm enough, if you wear heavy jumper or coat, go to the entrance there will be a coat check place for keeping your outers. Personally, I liked to go bat tunnel that was a bit scary and fun. Some of sections like Dior collection, you have to pay at the entrance.
A hugely impressive museum. Featuring an incredible collection of archeological, oriental, roman, greek artifacts, geological, modern art and many other interesting things to see. You need all day to fully appreciate this place.
The Royal Ontario Museum has a variety of wings catering to a large clientele. Depending on your interests, you can focus on art, natural history and/or world culture. It's hard to miss the Crystal, a building that was opened in 2007. Its angular modern architecture is an additional attraction that has probably managed to advertise the museum to a larger crowd.
Be prepared for hours of walking as the museum is quite big if you want to go to every section. Cafeteria has a good variety of options and reasonable prices. Gift shop has nice gifts as well. You can bring outside food but food is only permitted at the cafeteria or a separate family lunch area for obvious reasons.
….it’s a Must
Too many to see for one time visit, year pass for family is recommended, one of the top attractions in Canada for sure.
Amazing place. You need to visit over 2 days and stay downtown....make it a weekend getaway. So much amazing history and mother earth science to witness
Such a great place to spend the day. We brought our children ages 7 and 10 and they really liked the dinosaur exhibitions.
Went here for the first time after going to school in the city for three years. Such an amazing mussel with such a diverse set of exhibits. The dinosaur and animal exhibits were my favourite. Can’t wait to go back once the interactive activities reopen.

The best museum in Canada, in particular the Chinese Art section which has a great collection.
The building does not have any on-site parking. It has loading zones where you can drop off and pickup people though. There are a few parking garages within a 5 minute walk. The building is impressive. It took about 2 hours to wander through all of the exhibits and displays. Many interesting things to see. My favourite was the mummy, and dinosaur displays. Although it sucks that all of the interactive displays, and some of the exhibits are closed. It's nice that visitors are limited so the place isn't packed. The gift shop is a little underwhelming. The store is really nice, there's just not many very cool, unique, things to buy that you would expect from a museum gift shop. It was a fun day, and I definitely recommend a visit.
So much to see and learn. There were markers for standing throughout the museum. Washrooms were clean. Staff very helpful. I wondered how long I would need to go through the full Museum. It is hard with young school age children so 2 trips will be needed.
I don't get what the big deal is with Frank Gehry. But I loved the suits of armour
Nice museum - it has a lot good objects into - it's a visit worth if you are near from. 100meter from subway line 1, go out in 'museum station.
Such a great place to visit. A must go place for museum lovers. Such a big museum. Can be compared with Natural History or Met museums of NYC
This place is phenomenal. There is absolutely too much to see in one visit. If you want to really absorb everything at a comfortable pace, you really have to split it into 2 or maybe 3 days.
The architecture on the exterior (front entrance), is gorgeously abstract. The interior has a lot to look at and see. You need to give yourself time to go and explore the beauty that the museum holds inside. While we visited, violinist were playing beautifully in the background while we toured the first level.
We have the membership and visit the museum as many time as we can . It's always lots of new subjects and interesting exhibitions there that no one should miss
Love this museum. The Ancient Greek artifacts, the real samurai swords and the Egyptian mummy and mummified pets are so interesting. It’s amazing to see these ancient artifacts in real life. I liked the natural history side too. Very very good museum IMO.
The place is huge. Make sure you're wearing good shoes as there is a lot to see. Staff was very helpful.
The museum has 3 floor and covers historical architectures, animal evolutionary related, European and Asian history. Ground floor has Chinese and Buddhist knowledge and it's all a great place for everyone especially kids
Amazing the girls had so much fun!
Lol
It is always wonderful to be back to ROM. Although a few section was closed, my kids and us enjoyed thoroughly. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Especially thanking the lady by the bee hive, who helped my kid to locate the queen bee. You are doing a wonderful job
This is a review of the ROM Kids sleepover program... this was a truly amazing experience! It was a birthday gift to my daughter and she thoroughly loved it. The program was well organized and had something for everyone. The movie was great, karaoke was awesome, food was okay. Breakfast had variety - there was scrambled eggs plain and with bacon, oatmeal, cereals, yogurt and granola, croissants, coffee, tea, juice, fruits... I loved that there was security at the locker areas as the lockers are not secure. My main love was sleeping under the dinosaur :) and being able to explore the museum!! You also get admission into the museum the day after! If you are a museum fanatic this should definately be on your to do list. My only recommendation would be to add a photographer so there's an option to purchase souvenir photos.
Plan on spending the whole day if you want to visit all floors in some detail, I had about an hour and a half and only just managed one floor. The museum has a great variety of natural and human history. I was mainly on the first and third floors, looking at Asian exhibits briefly, and then spending much of the time looking at the extensive European, Asian, Middle East, Egypt, Greece and Rome exhibits and collections, walking through some interesting surrounding displays.
We had a great time here during Christmas Holidays. Service dog friendly
Loved it. Especially the whales and dawn of life exhibits.
Everytime I've visited it's been an excellent learning experience. Considering I typically visit once every year or two, the rotations throughout the exhibits and the differing featured exhibits are always new, interesting and informative. Enjoyed learning something new everytime!
Fantastic array of exhibits, ranging from modern furniture to ancient antiques. Really fantastic gem collection in breathtalong displays. You can't help but feel a tagging pulse to the world's history in this place. I looked at the Asian exhibit with fresh eyes and was amazed by the connection I experienced whole staring at the gorgeous clay murals of Buddha. Lots of interactive exhibits too, so kids don't get too bored. And can't forget to mention the DINOSAURS which are awesome
Great place for the whole family to visit. Make sure you make enough time as it is truly huge. Paid extra for the whale exhibit and it was well worth it. Dinosaurs are always a great sight to behold as well as all the ancient artifacts. Came on a Sunday morning and the crowd was very minimal.
Very large museum. Great idea for a family trip or outing. And possibly a great place for a date. Staff are helpful. Unfortunately I felt like I already knew about a lot of the stuff they were showing in exhibits. so I didn't learn too much about new things. The cafe is also overpriced for anything, but that's almost expected.
Nice and Big museum... Good display... Reasonable admission fee... When I entered the museum one of the staff greeted me and asked me if I need help. She then described the museum sections and whereabouts... It was helpfull. I, however, noticed thst the museum can use more signs directibg to the different sections. The layout of the museum is not really easy to follow.. You can miss visiting a section if you are not careful. I missed the middle east section, africa, and south America. ????.
Great outting. Allot of kids with there grandparents, parents, nannies, and etc. Even with our COVID environment this is one of the good family activities in the T.dot
Amazing! A must see for the whole family, plan your trip and take advantage of viewing all available exhibition under the general admission. We spent 2.5 hours and it was great!
You can learn lots of new things. I think very enjoyable activity for children and parents. Thank you.
I went for the Winnie the Pooh exhibit and loved it. The history and the actual drawings...AMAZING! I bought a membership so I can go back several more times. Well done ROM. staff friendly, lots to see.
ROM is doing an amazing job during this Covid time. They are maintaining sparkly clean atmosphere. There are sanitizers at all entry point, and nobody is allowed in without wearing mask. I visited some specific sections today. Got mesmerized looking at the actual dimension of the Dinosaurs extinct over 245 million years ago! Elements from Chinese, South Asian culture and Egyptian culture are also surprising. I don’t think I covered even half of the place!
A great way to spend an afternoon
Such a great place to spend the day. We brought our children ages 7 and 10 and they really liked the dinosaur exhibitions.
As the name says Royal the museum experience is mesmerizing. They have different sections for different cultures anyone interested in specific history about China,Egypt,Canada etc it’s must go to place.
Not possible to take in it all without many hours. I viewed the biodiversity and oriental architecture and art sections and both were jaw-dropping. There is a large cafe on the lower level. Bring good walking shoes as are lots of wide open spaces between exhibits. Citipass is great for getting in, you have to redeem your QR code for a ticket though so you will still be in the ticket line.
We visit ROM regularly. It is a world class museum with many things to see. It is good for all ages. Recently we saw their exhibit called Great Whales: Up Close and Personal. It was great!
It was a wholesome experience. Must visit and it treasures archaeological remains of cultures from different parts of the world.
Best museum in Canada, great place to learn, experience the beauty of nature, culture, history and animals for all ages. Prepare for a whole day stay and it could be overwhelming of info. Fun to compare development level between countries in the same centuries. Kids may not share the same interests as adults, so just let them enjoy what attracts them most. It would be a great idea to bring them here at least once a year so they could grow interests and knowledge as their bodies. Today's Great Whales show is an eye-opener, highly recommend.
My besty and I enjoy ROM. We toured many of the exhibits some of which my husband worked on. We are all very lucky to have this fabulous museum in Toronto. All visitors should spend a day at ROM.
The ROM is one of the best museums in Canada. It has different kinds of artifacts and displays. I especially enjoyed its coin collection, which is comprised of coins from different parts of the world and time periods. I hope to be back at the ROM someday. I visited this museum in June 2019.
An excellent museum. A lot of interesting stuff to see. Almost too big, we walked through the museum for 5h. Make sure to take some candy and water with you. And do not dress to lightly as it can be a bit chilly after a while.
It was awesome. We went right at opening on a Saturday and it was perfect. I suggest going anywhere like this as soon as it opens! Less of a crowd. We went to the spider exhibit first thing and it was so neat! Very impressed at everything they had there! Spiders are AWESOME. I put a few teaser photos of what is there! I have to say the bugs were my fav!!! So many things to see! I took way too many photos. We were there a little over an hour and seriously kept going LOOK AT THIS, the whole time!!!
Very nice place to discover about the history of the world and the diversity of the ecosystem around the world. They have everything that every kid is expected for. They have a lot of dinosaurs stuff and ancient civilization! They also have everything about rocks(earth treasure) and lots lots of fun stuff. We spend 5h to discover half of the museum. Small tips is bring your lunch everything in the calf is pretty expensive. I
one of the best museums i’ve ever been to. physically, the building is stunning inside and out (always super clean too). they are a very large museum and seem to be quite careful about the provenance of their artifacts and such. the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. there’s always some fun exhibits going on and the little shops afterwards always actually have interesting and good quality things. the one thing i will say is while the food from the cafe is okay, there aren’t many good plant based options and what they do have is pretty small and pricey in comparison to their meat products.
So many things to see within the museum, I like to see the level 2 exhibits better, all the different animals, insects, birds and fishes. Spend my whole afternoon there, definately worth the $20 ticket.
The ROM is awesome. So much to see and it takes multiple visits to take it all in. The the.porary exhibits are great too. I recently visited the Wildlife Photography and Whale exhibits—good stuff!
Amazing museum! exhibits are very cool and there are so many different ones. Definitely worth checking out.
This is our second time back to the ROM and we love it. We bought tickets to the speciality exhibits they had offered at the moment. Whales and 2021 wildlife photography. Being a photographer myself I definitely wanted to see it. The ROM has so much history and beautiful pieces of the world. It is a big place so if you haven't been before I would get there in the morning to give you time to see everything. If I lived in Toronto I would definitely get a membership
I loved this place as a kid and now as an adult. My children love it too. So much to explore. One of a kind experience.
Really beautiful places, really interesting and interactive!
What can I say. There's a lot to look at and do at the ROM. Level 2 is perhaps the best floor with lots of history behind the dinosaurs. See the plenty of photos that I snapped during my day there. While some of the exhibits were closed, there's a still a lot to see. What's nice is that there were hand sanitizer stations all over the place and a nursing station (great for new parents with a newborn).
Wery nice place and interesting ..
Your experience here will undoubtedly vary depending on the company you are there with. My kids (age 9 and 13) really enjoyed some exhibits a lot more than others, understandably...dinosaur exhibit and whale exhibit were big hits, but some of the other exhibits, not so much. Your milage may vary, of course. So, for history buffs, take your time, soak it all in. Fascinating exhibits overall. If your kids want to skip straight through to the dinosaur exhibit, the overall experience will be pricy. (But still really cool!) In my opinion, it is a must see Toronto exhibit. We try to go every few years.
Large place, great history and so much to read. Been there twice now and still finding out new things!
Museum is nice and interesting but can definitely provide more for the general admission. The Egyptian and dinosaur exhibits are done really well.
Professional helpful staff, nice collections especially Egyptian and Roman areas. Easily accessible and a good time had by all. Parking is available but can be costly so public transit and an option. Paper bracelets and available if one wants to get back after a quick stint outside.
We purchased a year pass for about $90, and it pays off in three visits. This place is amazing. Throughout the winter exhibits we visited Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Dinosaurs, Africa, Europe, South America, Canada, Egypt, Bloodsuckers and more. Expansive and detailed, each exhibit is simply amazing - take your time and learn from history and discover the past and present. Lots of clean washrooms, a tasty and affordable cafe downstairs. Visit the gift shop which has something cool for all ages. Great place to take the family or kids for some educational fun. Coat check available for free, lots of friendly and knowledgable volunteers to speak to each exhibit.
Great place for a family trip. Lots to see and learn!
Very good. Enjoyed it with grandkids. The First Nations exhibit was disappointing though, of course. Very incomplete and some inaccuracies. I wonder if this museum is updated since it opened. I'm sure there's been advancement in the study of and dating of antiquities, fossils, etc, so it should be. Grandchildren weren't impressed. The one says the Museum in Edmonton gives a much better/truer history of our First People's and about residential schools. ????????
This is our favorite museum in Toronto. We are visiting it at least twice a year. It’s a great place for kids and adults. Our top is Egyptian Hall and Dinosaurs hall. We really liked the Mummies exhibition from last year too. And latest Blue Whale exhibition is wonderful!
