My children loved it here. They loved it so much that they asked me to cancel our plans the next day so that we could go back again. The staff were friendly and the woman that took us on the tour had the patience of a saint while my children excitedly asked a million questions. My 15 year old even enjoyed the time we spent there (and that's no longer a common occurance at her age). We'll definitely be coming back.

Had a fantastic time at Apple fest. It was a nice Sunday morning outing. My wife and I took our 2 year old and lo an behold there was a train for him to ride. He loved every moment. The Apple cider, local honey and Apple fritters were good too.

Took my son to the Markham Museum to check out the Markham Moves exibit. It was very interactive and its a good place to kill a couple hours with young kids. We did not get a chance to explore the rest of the porperty but plan on going back to do so in the future.

The original Summerfeldt family left a small town in Germany just out of Berlin in 1792 crossed the Atlantic ocean on a small 3 mast sailboat landing on the coast of Maine USA. John Sommerfeldt led the first group of German people crossing the US East coast through New York state floating their wagons across the St Lawrence river into Southern Ontario. John had to trade the group's meager valuables for picks and shovels. Everyone helped in the construction of a single lane dirt road to Toronto and then up what is now Young St through to Aurora. John and group then decided to split off and go East, ending up in Unionville.

Attended a wedding here this summer (2018) and was blown away at the maintenance and effort that clearly went into building this place. Lots of walking paths and could see maintenance staff cleaning etc even on a Sat night. Looked like a really neat place for school groups

There is one area specific in the collectors building that is awesome for kids. In the third floor you can do some pottery. The external area of the museum lack a little bit of conservation. The overall experience was good.

This place is amazing! I'm always looking for cheap places to take my three kids. Came to Scaryfest and was pleasantly surprised at the entertainment value. We paid $9 per person, instead of the usual admission, but it kept the kids entertained all Sunday afternoon. Will definitely return for other special events as the museum itself is quite small. There's a heritage/pioneer-type village, as well. Impressively staffed given the low admission. Will be back!! ????????????

They offer many events and programs in addition to existing and periodic exhibits. Their arts and crafts programs like pottery lessons are an interesting way to acquire new creative hobbies. You can also rent their venue for special events like birthday parties. The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful.

I went here with my 4 year old daughter and she loved it. Not much to see here as a museum but definitely a good place for kids. Museum is a little bit empty and needs more stuff for display. Definitely coming again with my kid considering that it’s just $6 per adult and $4 per child (2-12years).

This place is great for taking the little ones to learn about the history of the city. It is very similar to Pioneer Black Creek Village in the west end but smaller.

Great location with lots of fun activities for families. The main exhibit is changed out regularly, but the parkland holds many beautiful old buildings that share a part of the story of Markham. There is also a full professional staff to assist in research or genealogical inquiries.

Excellent afternoon at the Markham Museum. Staff were knowledgable and friendly-even through an interrogation by a six year old on the tours. Buildings are well kept with loads to do-everything from the history of the area to mini putt.

We have been here twice now even though we just moved to Markham! The AppleFest was so much fun for the kids and parents alike. The ability to not just observe historical items from Markham behind a glass but to walk into the buildings and talk to the staff about how they are used is unique opportunity to get kids involved in their community's history! We will definitely be going back again soon!

Amazing place than I never knew existed, I actually prefer this to Black Creek Pioneer village as it's less like an amusement park and more of an actual museum. It has a large outdoor area full of period buildings relocated from the surrounding area, as well an a complete train station with a snow plough locomotive. You can easily spend an afternoon here as there are several good picnic spots and tons of details to see.

This is the WORST Halloween experience ever!!! Feel like being ripped off by paying $8 a person including for my 3 years old!! We only got like 3 small candies and 1 small bag of Great Value chips!! The web site is irritating, a lot of photos and no info about what I will actually see if I go there. Also Google gives me lots of info on historical wedding venues, when I am really looking for geneology information, and examples of where Berczy settlers may have lived and worked. Don’t you know how important this settlement was??!! It’s like history and research have been erased by suburbia. A theme park? I hope not. But that’s what it looks like from the photos, and I see no historical data telling me why all these building are clumped together in an unnatural way.

There were about 150 guests and more than enough parking spaces. The reception was outdoors under a big top tent and use of the gazebo for photo booth as well as a large shelter for dancing. They were able to set up large audio speakers and so they were able to use microphones and DJ equipment for music. The event was catered by Brettone's catering from Woodbridge. We were able to use the museum washrooms but we're unable to see the museum exhibits. A very picturesque setting combining modern and yesteryears.

We lived in Markham many years before going to the Museum, but now we send our kids to camp there, use it for girl guides, and visit on the open house days. Its a wonderful facility and right now there is a special PanAm sports exhibit which is really first rate (as good as one would find in any museum in Canada). The collection of historical buildings is wonderful, it really does balance the past and the present. Lovely grounds as well, staff are great.

My recent visit to the museum has seen something I don’t like....history I have seen in the past. I asked and was told they are changing the look of the museum and using space for history instead for space for events. We will be able to watch and view artifacts on tv? You can’t replace history and history is our past, present and future.

I would highly advise Cathy Molloy to enroll in some anger management lessons, as she clearly believes that throwing temper tantrums is a reasonable solution to problems. She doesnt seem to understand that talking civilly and respectfully to employees is conducive to an efficient and effective workplace. Her behaviour is comparable to a child the way she shouts and argues in order to get her way. Really pathetic to see this behaviour from the museum director, when you would expect to see it from the 6 year olds at the camp...
