Cheep place to bring kids to play. Toys well used. My daughter enjoyed for a few hours then was board.

Most awesome place for kids!

Very entertaining place for wee ones of all ages! Lots of crafts and toys and creative fun including life sized linkin logs type planks, a ship galley with plastic food and a dress up and puppet show room!

Great place for young children who love to build and explore. Lots of props & supplies for construction, pretend play, and role-playing. Our 3 year old son had a great time there in late December 2017. BE AWARE: On busy days, the staff will ask you to limit your visit to 1 hour, since the old building has a limited capacity according to safe occupancy guidelines. I would recommend that you call ahead to see how busy it is. Go on a "slow day" - try to give yourself and your child lots of time to play together & enjoy the museum. Best suited for kids aged 2 to 10. Older children may find it childish and would quickly lose interest. NOTE: There is a small charge $ for admission. Check website or call ahead for pricing.

Too bad but really needs an investment and a makeover. Charging a entrance fee for what is there is ridiculous

Cute but really small

Used to go here when my daughter was little. It was great then. It’s also located across the street from McDonald’s and on the edge of Gage Park. Not a bad place to take the kids out to for a couple hours. Enough in the area to do a few more things too.

Nice place for kids

Free with HPL card, kids had fun playing in the different rooms.

I like this place it's pretty cool and has some neat stuff like a big ship but I also think they should lower the their prices abit

Staff fantastic whole class of grade 2s and the regular clientele...they didn't miss a beat????

Great place to go for a kids New Year's Eve party!

I feel like this is one of those locations that we need to promote how important it is for families in this area it is an educational resource it is a Developmental Center for Young People it is a resource for parents and I think that it is invaluable to our community not enough people are putting up good posts and I think that we need to acknowledge how valuable these types of resources are before it disappears just like the Discovery Center on Discovery Drive did

Great place to take your kids lots of activities staff very attentive to the needs of your kids.Friendly environment for kids to relax and learn in.

Was fantastic. The Wednesday Wiggler's is a great program

The new activities and rooms are fantastic. My kids had a lot of fun building forts and playing pretend. They enjoy watching the turtles and fish in the aquarium and planting and doing crafts.

Cheap, not big but ok for the price.

Good place for kids to run around-very small

Fun and entertaining hands on! Great for kids and adults!

Very tired looking

I think every museum should do somthing like this in alignment with their context.my kid is ready to play all day here

Very economical for families, we spent 3 hours and the kids loved the pirate ship, meeting the lizards and playing make believe

Great place for my two year old. Very inexpensive and lots to do! The staff are very welcoming and fun. Unlimited time of educational fun for next to free! ????

Great for creative kids or just kids who want new and exciting explorations

Only ever been, to visit my friend and her kids but definitely seems like a fun place - even if only to laugh along to the antics of silly kids.

Great place to go for the afternoon with your kids. Very little parking on busy days.

Absolutely loved coming here as a child. Looking back now, I find this to be such an important institution to help keep a child's imagination growing. We'll maintained place to allow kids to move freely with their curiousity. Can't wait to see how my kids will react when it becomes their turn to wonder. The place changes up the topics on display often enough to keep the crowd interested when they return.

Great for children

This is such a great place to bring the children. Not only is there so much hand on activities but the staff are lovely and it's a great place to take the kids to socialize. Everything in the museum is a new teaching tool and imaginations can run wild.

Great place to cool down during the summer, enough activities and centers to keep the kids busy for a couple of hours, very affordable.

I remember coming as a kid. I wouldn't call this a museum but rather an imagination station. The fact that you get to visit using your library card is a plus. I had to laugh at how many people let kids roam and we're just focused on their cell phones though. Some parents really utilized their time there to interact with their kids. Today was Family day. I was surprised that they were open. The staff were so super accommodating. There was a games room with popcorn (specifically for today); a pretend kitchen area; Fisherman's wharf area as well as an outdoors themed room. We had a great time. My nephew has already talked about bringing is best friend next time. Lots of events coming up. What a great place to have a play date?!

Nice simple small activity 2 hours spend for kids 8 and below

2 playrooms and one large playroom. My 1.5 year old loved it. Gets busy very early in the day.

A.azing beautiful gardens and beautiful museum

Went as a kid, great for field trips that are days at the park

Went as a kid, great for field trips that are days at the park

Fun and the staff are amazing

First and foremost it's a small one floor but what it has is perfect. We'll maintained with amazing staff. There is something new to do in the event/craft room every day. My son adores the fort biulding room. There is also a toy kitchen room resembling an 1800's cookery sporting tonnes for the kids to do. And since it is right in gage park after the kids are done in there you can head for a nice walk. The entry fee is so low it's hardly a thought ( about 2$ a person ) if these guys got a bigger budget and another house In the same style and made a village of themed kids places like this it would be absolutely amazing! It is more a kids indoor play room than a musem but there is alot of educational things if you look deep ( laminated newspapers and other simular things tell alot Hamilton's past)

Neat little place for kiddos to explore!

An absolute gem in the heart of Hamilton. Perfect for children's parties and fun for parents too!

We live close by, honestly its such a rare gem and all around fun for kids to go too. Rain or shine day fun. The atmosphere is historical and imaginative as well as the service is excellent also, if you have a children's library card you can access it for free.

They've renovated quite a bit and the rooms have changed. A lot more theme oriented in each room. The esthetic feel is really illustrated throughout the facility. It's now free if you bring in a liberty card for each individual family member. I'll be visiting more often now in the winter months knowing that it's free.

Great place for 20+ years

Always great fun for the kids, they are always asking to go there. Perfect for rainy days.

Lots of activities for all ages. If you ask nicely they will sometime take the turtles out of their tank for the kids to see

Affordable, educational and great staff.

Great place for kids to play while learning about history.

It’s nice for little kids, under 6 yo. Well maintained and staff is friendly. It’s a small place, so don’t plan to be there too long, definitely under 2 hrs.

Lovely

My first time visiting here. So glad we went there. The children had a blast. They really got to use their imagination while there. They have a pioneer kitchen that is so awesome. The kids were just so happy , especially the the baby who is just over a year old. He is a going concern since he started walking. He felt so independent there. He could walk anywhere without getting hurt or into trouble ! LOL... Great fun for a rainy day ????

Super awesome stuff and a great place for the kids to play that is reasonably priced highly recommend

The staff are super-friendly and knowledgeable, the facilities are clean, and there's lots for kids to do! Specifically, I was really impressed how they have a basket for caregivers to place toys that have been put into kids' mouths so that the toys can be cleaned. I think that every children's facility should have that!

Extremely fun and super interactive

Nice

Good place for the kids (2+3) to play for a couple hours - only complaint is that there is only one bathroom with a change table, which is also in the entrance, so it's not always accessible. But the kids had fun, there was lots for them to see and do.

My kids love to come here. Free if you have a library card for each person. Something different every time. It's at the corner of Gage park.

It's just okay. Nothing much for kids to do

Great place for little children

The little ones can let their imaginations run wild. Engaging, fun and reasonably priced. Two hours is about as long as you might need. Relaxing atmosphere with little to no interference from staff (in a good way), kids could perhaps be reminded to clean up their stations after use. Best for 3-10 year olds.

A really fun little place to take the kids! My children especially loved the play kitchen/cooking area and spent a lot of them there!

When I was kid I had a fun time there at this place.

The kids always enjoy the discovery model of learning through play when we visit the museum.

Great for creative kids or just kids who want new and exciting explorations

Super fun! Perfect place for toddlers and preschoolers, lots of interactive areas and space to encourage 0lay and imagination.

A good place to take the kids

Amazing place , I love it

It's OK .

An absolute gem!!! I have 2 small kids and this place has everything for them. Dinosaurs, bones to dig up, toys, crafts, fish and turtles and the staf are amazing. And the price is great. Right by gage park and the splash pad

Always great fun for the kids, they are always asking to go there. Perfect for rainy days.

Brought my 2 year old, she loved it! It's very affordable ($2 per adult, $4 per child, or $9 for a family). They have an area full of random toys, set up crafts, and an area to eat any snacks you bring. Then they have a few other 'theme' rooms that are roughly based around being a pirate (a ship galley for cooking, a partial ship for running around on, an area for fishing, fort building etc)

What a wonderful way to spend some interactive learning time with your kids. The employees were friendly, kind and helpful. We will be back for sure.

Fun and entertaining hands on! Great for kids and adults!

Great place for kids to play, and a few different themed play areas. It's pretty fun for the kids. It isn't much of a "museum" though.

Great staff, lots to do. Kids can play here for hours.

I remember coming here when I was young, then coming once again a few years later. I absolutely LOVED the place. Totally suggest coming here.

I love taking my daughter here. There are different spaces. One room with arts and crafts and two other rooms with dress up clothes, a kitchen... A fishing area and a deck of a ship...all pretend play of course... The toys are made of wood and cloth... Great place to let your child's imagination run wild. Only thing is I would recommend calling before going because sometimes there is a camp and the museum is full so you can't get in. Also if you bring your library card you get in free.

A very nice option for rainy days. Not a very nice neighborhood.

Great people willing to work with you on prices all around Good Vibes when entering this spot

As always, the only problem is grandchildren not wanting to leave.

Wonderful place for children. Memories are made here. Hide in the pirate ship or build a fort. Thank you staff for all that you do for the families of Hamilton

Great place to learn to play with your youngsters.????

Cheap fun time out with kid

Where do I start lol....they should change the name because there is absolutely nothing about this place that would suggest it is a museum. Also change the description because there were no exhibits at all. It's like an old runned down children's daycare centre from the 1800's. Children were so bored I don't think we stayed 10min.....we payed $10 to get in but they should be paying the public to come in lol Most exciting part was leaving.

The museum is fun and inexpensive. Perfect for ages 1-6. We loved it!

Absolutely great place to take your younger kids!!! Has three amazing rooms that fuel imaginative play ! Bring your library card and get in for free :)

Lots of activities for toddlers and older kids but my daughter got a few bites on her leg, not sure what kind of insects were there..

Great place for the kids to play

It's best for children 2 and a half to about 7 maybe 8 at the most.

Great for kids

It is free with a Hamilton library card and I think it was $7 for an adult and child. Really nothing there. The staff are plentiful, but no learning and a large room with a lame craft activity my child had no interest in. I think they could do better with the building and all the staff. Gage park playground is next store and that was the best part of the visit. Definitly not worth a drive from out of town.

Good place to shop at

Very small. Only spent 30 mins there

More of a playspace than Museum, but the kids have fun. Great for groups. Nice space and friendly staff.

Staff was good with kids

I make plans to visit the children's museum regularly. Most of the time its closed or about to close when get there. It has been disappointing to spend less than an hour there just to be told they are closing. (They advertise that they close at 330pm but I don't think those hours are accurate). Regardless, the short hours and closed off sections are disappointing.

I went there as I am I kid

Wow. I didn't like it here. One whole area was closed off and the price wasn't reduced. Way too expensive for what I saw inside.

First, I have to say I like and appreciate the staff we met (Nov 10, 2019). Very friendly and accommodating. Fun toys for kids (and adults in our case) to play with. Good private room for parties. All the kids had a blast for the birthday party!

Haven't been inside but there's a nice playground outside that my kids like

Lots of fun for the kids

You Can Do A lot If You Are Properly Trained - The Queen ????????????????????????

Drove for an hour to get there. Was closed without any indication on the door or on the web site.

Always warm and accommodating staff. Great place to bring the kids for a bit for very reasonable cost. Lots of toys for imagination play. One star short because I never seem to be able to get into the crafts room as it is rented for parties a lot.

Small place

Amazing place to take your kids, especially the younger ones. Need a little more activities for older kids (8 and up). Staff were really nice and professional!

Great place to go if you want to cool down. My kids enjoyed there time there. I think that 30 minutes to an hour is more than enough.

Super friendly staff. Great atmosphere.. Son walked out happy with a new dino tattoo lol

Super friendly staff. Great atmosphere.. Son walked out happy with a new dino tattoo lol

Fun place to take the kids. Free of you have a Hamilton library card. McDonald's across the street and right beside a playground. Great afternoon for little ones.

Friendly staff, millions of things to do for kids.. Definitely recommended .. Parking is a bit small so come early ????

Small town museum in a mid-sized city. Focus is on imaginative play rather than learning. It is four rooms in size. It's time for Hamilton to develop a significant children's museum.

Great place for kids to play

Great place to visit with kids of all ages. Big kids love it too. It is almost like visiting an indoor playground, very play focused. My family's favourite is the fort building area.

So much fun

Great place, took our 14 month old grandson and he was busy from 9:30 to 11:30 then fell asleep driving home.

My son came here on a field trip and absolutely loved it. I took him back and was equally impressed. It encourages creative play by providing a make believe landscape with lots of materials with which to build, dress up, and act out. My son is in SK. Prob most appropriate for 8 and under set. Free with a library card. We will be back. Hidden little gem in Gage park.

We went today for the nature workshop which was super cute (plant a cute succulent and decorate the pot or a few other options). My little one is 20 months and was way too young to care though so we just explored the regular exhibits at the museum. He had fun playing on the pirate ship and picking up all the fish!

Great place friendly staff large park right behind lots of people walking dogs early morning

very nice place

We love to bring my grandson here. Lots of space to run and play.

Great space for keeping kids busy

Great place kids have a blast more for kids 10 and under

Loved it!! So much fun and activities for the kids!! Hours of entertainment and imagination play.

Great place to spend a few hr in the summer heat

The word museum is used very loosely, there is amarket and a lil ship. Building soft blocks....fort building with clipped materials. although all the kids seemed to have fun age 5-12 . They have a room you can rent for bday partys with turtles. Also weekly activities/shows. Would have been better if we registered. Sure beats the freezing cold park!!

Lovely place. We went on an autism event and was very surprised how the set up was inside. Tons of stuff for the kids to play make believe with (olden style kitchen pre electric style, a ships deck, hammock, toy fisheries, and so much more...). They also have a study/class room style room that was made use of for the event. The staffs there are very friendly and understanding to our ASD kid needs.

Love this place!

Fun place where children get to enjoy themselves with hands on activities. The only draw back is the place is too small and not enough activities for children. Not recommended for children 9 and up as no activities for them.

Great place to cool down during the summer, enough activities and centers to keep the kids busy for a couple of hours, very affordable.

Excellent space, lots of learning to be had for all.

Nice place for kids to discover and a walk in the gage park
