REVIEWS OF Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum IN Brampton

This place was a lot of fun. My step dad had been going for years but this was a first time visit for me. The Lancaster was in, and boy did they have so much history to share! Some of the guys roaming around sharing the history have actually been in and flown the planes. And they have this awesome virtual reality tour of one of the planes mid mission. We didn't end up doing that since we were there with my little guy, but I look forward to coming back another time. I really enjoyed getting up close to see the planes they are working on putting back together. It was stunning to see the completed aircraft that still fly today, as well as all the projects they are currently restoring as well! I hope I can go on a Saturday sometime to see the Lancaster in flight! Such amazing machinery! And even more amazing people! Any question I had they had an answer to and many answers were from first hand experience with the aircraft itself. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Oh they also have a model of Dusty Crophopper. My little guy thought that was awesome. He enjoyed seeing the little racing plane from the movies.

What a great place! I'm not even that much into planes. We were flying out on the same day so we've got free admission after presenting tickets. But even for a full price it would've been worth it. They have new VR bomber experience, they have many planes in different stages of renovations, so you can see how they are built up. There are few planes that visitors can get into. Guides available on site.

Aaron Kipp

Bought my father a membership and flight in the Dakota. Great experience and the best staff / volunteers. Museum itself is interesting, and the aircrafts are meticulously cared for.

Art Pake

We had a great time on our tour of the museum. We had a fellow by the name of Frank Creamer be our personal tour guide telling us some fantastic stories and history of different pilots and planes as well. It is a great place to visit to see some history or our airplanes and critical aspects of different wars they participated in. Very recommended to visit and see what there is to offer.

Tee Sirianni

I think they were setting up or tearing down an event so some of the exhibits were difficult to get to. But this was super cool to see and my son has a new appreciation aviation.

Brendan MacDonald

Awesome place! Everyone is so friendly and informative, our son loves it.

Just had a virtual tour via SWOMFRC. Sean, our guide was wonderful! Very knowledgeable and very good camera moves! Would recommend this museum in any format. So much aviation history of our brave man and woman who fought for Canada’s freedom.

Visited today after many years: the hangar containing the enormous airplanes where you can just walk around is pretty amazing. I would've given it a 5/5, but I get really sad when I read about war and all the people killed in flying missions during wars. It was fun to learn about women aviation pioneers.

Funny kaleb

Great variety of aircrafts to see some even in action and fly on schedule so you can watch them take off and come back on the runway from a very exciting closeup.

First visit. Can I expect more. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We also took a outside tour. Be aware, you will be asked one history question. Haha!

Gerrit Bos

We had a Gala dinner here, and it went very well. Not as much time to see the museum pieces as I would have liked, but did get some close-ups of the Lancaster bomber; currently the only one flying in the world. A helpful volunteer (maybe paid staff) was a rich source of information and very passionate. The museum staff organized the dinner, and it was quite delicious, with plenty for everyone. Sound is a bit of a challenge, as the large room is designed and functional as a hangar. They had a decent sound system set up, but it was still hard to hear at the back. Gala was for about 500 people, and that felt close to the maximum. Recommended for a visit or a dinner event like this. P.S. I found myself wondering about the long display of flags along the wall. Couldn't quite figure out the pattern, and didn't have a chance to read the right plaque.

Wyatt Thompson

An amazing experience for young and old. The volunteers here are former pilots themself of many of the aircraft on display offering a great insight into them. Would recommend coming at opening as there is a lot to see and do here. Great fun for the whole family offering the chance to get into making your of the planes. Will be back again!

WEDDING VIBES AT THE BEST VENUE THERE IS AROUND!!! Can't say enough about this place and the people here! From the absolutely delicious Rehearsal dinner in the TG Room, to the beautiful Wedding Ceremony in the Dome with our wonderful Piper...to our guests from the good ole' USA touring the Hangar, to the awesome Reception with a 5 STAR amazing meal. Absolutely PERFECT wedding in an absolutely PERFECT venue!!! Thank you to everyone who made our daughter and new son-in-law's day the happiest day ever!

Colin Mackay

Excellent place to learn about the history of Canada in wartime. Lots of vintage aircraft to see, knowledgable guides, big gift shop.

Phil Star905 الطبخ، التدريب، الموسيقى. (Phil Star)

This has been the most amazing experience I’ve ever been to in Canada. Every single person that works there interacted with nothing with positivity and love and care about the place and also educated. I won hundred percent recommend this place but also to bring your kids to teach them. Thank you for an amazing tour and I cannot wait to go back again.

Alejandro Cajiao

Excellent place for those who love planes and history. It's really amazing to see aircrafts that were used in the wat and still fly to this day. The volunteers are wonderful tour guides.

VD

The ticket was $20, but we enjoy the overall experience. Its worth a visit if you enjoy museum. It isn't as big as the Ontario Rom, however, its a different experience.

Tyler Nadel

Amazing museum. Must try when in the Hamilton area.

Joyce Meng

The museum itself is a gem for aviation and history fans, showcasing the legendary Avro Lancaster and other well-mainteined historical aircrafts. The staff are what make this place truly amazing though. I ordered a few gifts a week before father's day and the gift store assistant manager Tracey informed me they would not be able to arrive in time via Canada post. She talked to Manager Shawn, who then personally beat afternoon traffic on 403 and delivered them to our house! Thank you! You have made my day!

Nigel Kettle

Flew the Harvard trainer... used to train Spitfire pilot's during WWII. A great experience. The pilot, Marc, allowed me to have the stick and maneuver the plane for most of the flight (after take off and before landing). Highly recommend.

Weranga Perera

Great place. My kids enjoyed a lot

Franz Sanvictores

Very cool place to see some amazing vintage planes that helped make Canada an amazing country to live in. The staff are friendly, informative, and help makes the experience special. We visited during the 'Classics of the Golden Age', and was able to see some collectors classic cars alongside the planes.

Livia A.

Great experience seeing all of the planes. My dad had the time of his life being able to fly one

A.I Ram

An awesome place to visit for fans of aviation. The staff are passionate and will take lots of time explaining the history behind everything. Many aircraft are actively worked on to restore them. Overall a wonderful experience. The Lancaster completed a flight when we arrived and was great to see. If you so choose, you can also book a flight with a few of the aircraft there. Should make for an even better experience. The gift shop has a lot of cool things as well. Posters and various art work. Along with some signed copies of books. Definitely recommend a visit here at some point for anyone who hasn't been.

Kristian Gosbee

Awesome place, home to one of only two flying Lancaster bombers left in the world. The staff are super friendly, and knowledgable. You can watch crews work or aircraft restoration while wandering the hangar checking out the numerous aircraft in fly-able condition.

M M

The museum hosts many pieces! We easily spent a few hours here learning the history of Canadian war contributions. There are many stories and photos of pilots and their records of service, which was moving and important. The volunteers and staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful to us during our time there. The restoration of many planes in progress was impressive and awe inspiring. The VR experience of the Berlin Blitz was an incredible experience, and gave me a newfound respect and understanding of the service of those who fought in WWII. I learned more about how Canadians contributed and served and I am grateful for this experience.

Gary Adduono

We were here for an event with Bob Gurr. Always fun to see the warbirds.

Mary Musson

Love the CWHM. Always very friendly staff and volunteers. I’ve been here for personal enjoyment as well as for group/overnight sessions with Guides/Scouts. Highly recommend!!

Baltazar B

Great exhibits including well-maintained planes. Free parking.

Simon Lammers

This museum is great. I swung by a few weekends ago looking for something to do on a Saturday. They are well prepared for COVID, and they always greet you with smiling eyes. I will always support this museum as they preserve our physical history. I always feel such pride when I see the Lancaster Bomber flying over the area.

Sherry Myrow

Great service! Staff was super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the planes with a passion that way infectious! Definitely recommend!

Lauren Berg

Flight over Port Dover in the DC 3 Dakota was stunning and incredible experience. I would recommend gravol because flying on a small plane can make even a strong stomach turn.

Bruce Halstead

Great place to see Canadian history reasonable price to get in hours of seeing the history of Air flight in Canada knowledgeable staff friendly I would recommend this to anyone for a day out

Kolton Smith

I had a great time at the Warplane Museum. The admission was reasonably priced and there is a lot of stuff to see. They have interesting displays on the history of the Air Force in Canada and a good number of planes on display. They also have a place to get food and drinks, they even serve beer. There is also a flight simulator, if you call ahead and book a slot the museum admission is included in the cost of the "mission". It's also close to the Hamilton airport, you could even check it out before a flight.

Murray Lundberg

I've been to many aviation museums, but the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is exceptional and is now on my must-return list. I could have spent several hours there. The aircraft collection is extremely good, particularly because all but one of the aircraft (that I noted) have Canadian histories. The fact that many of them are in flying condition and rides can be purchased in them blows my mind, and is one of the reasons that I'll find a way to get back there from the Yukon. The guides are also notably good, and I encourage everyone to ask for one (we had two at various times).

office file

Had a wonderful flight in the Canso. Circled Niagara Falls then paid tribute to RCAF vet with a flyover to celebrate his 100th Birthday.

Stephen Lue

Great collection of historic planes. Very informative guides who truly understand their planes and aviation. Highly recommend anyone to visit and ask as many questions as possible. Would definitely visit again!

Ivan Kuksov

Great exhibition, real pieces of history you can explore, touch and sit in!

Alan Beveridge

Great flight in the Stearman biplane. Lots of fun and great planned to see

Rob Johnston

Great place to see aircraft used by the military. Lots of knowledgable volunteers around to help. Many planes are air worthy and you can pay to take a flight as a passenger! (Need to schedule ahead of time typically).

SomeOne WithAName

I absolutly LOVE this place. Great planes and a lot of cool facts about them.

Adam Oldfield

An experience...the VR Avro Lancaster was amazing. Stepping into history...

David Orban

Great assortment of planes. Makes for an enjoyable afternoon.

Larry Llewellyn

This is a small museum by standards, but easley navigated around the exhibits. It is well layed out, and detail on restoration..all volunteers... The exhibits on loan are the "Blitz 1943" and "Anne Frank" both virtual reality experiences..I'd never been in one before, outstanding...they both required to sign up..get there early to get an opportunity... The Ann Frank exhibit was booked so was unable to view.. there were only two masks...the Blitz 1943 had only 4 of the 6 monitors working, I was lucky only 15min wait... But worth taking the time to enjoy this unusual experience...

Frank VANDERZALM

If you love airplanes particularly vintage warplanes you will love this museum. The crown jewel is the Lancaster bomber, one of only two in the world in flying condition which we see flying around Hamilton during warmer months. There are many other wonderful examples of vintage aircraft such as a Mitchell B25 bomber. Now you can sit in a Lancaster cockpit and experience actual WW2 film footage of bombing runs as if you were flying on the raid.

Nathan Giancola

Came for the first time in a couple of years and brought my son with me. The staff and volunteers were awesome! My 6 year old had a blast!

Nic Morris

Always an amazing experience. Volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable. It's a really organized and rich collection of Canadian warplanes, artifacts and photographs. It's amazing to be up close to planes that not only flew during wartime but to see some that continue to fly today.

Pauline Broadhurst

A wonderful experience for all ages. The volunteer staff are absolutely amazing and go above and beyond to chat with everyone. The passion the staff have for keeping these 'living' memorials alive is truly inspiring. My 13 year old can't wait to do the Night at the Museum with his friend in October. Covid protocols are in place and adhered to and the building is spotless!

73st.

I had a great time with my children. It's a great place to take pictures, easy to park and you can see many historic planes.

Charlie Charlie Oscar

Great little aviation museum right by Hamilton International Airport. Lots of open space to wander and view the planes at your own leisurely pace. There are a few planes you can actually sit in too. There are some planes being restored, some being repaired and some fully finished. It really lets you see what's going on on the insides. Very cool. There's also a gift shop with airplane models for purchase, clothing, books and some toys for the kids. There is a limited cafe styled restaurant too. It's a not-for-profit, private museum, so purchases at the restaurant and gift shop go towards keeping the museum operational.

Caroline Topperman

Booked a flight for my husband and he was absolutely thrilled. The museum is great for a family day. The staff is nice and very knowledgeable.

K A

Interesting but poorly organized. Not enough signage or interesting activities, kids pushing me while running. Lot of selection in gift shop. Beautiful planes though!

Stick To The Story Media Productions

Always a great time .Beautiful building with very helpful staff .lots of good parking and clean washrooms that are Handicapped friendly . Great gift shop. Got to hang out with Star Trek Actor Earhan Phillip's

Took Landcaster flight to Niagara Falls and back. Fantastic 73 year old WW2 aircraft.

Alan Thomas Jr.

It was amazing, haven't been in many years. I'm an aircraft guy and brought family from UK. Tim was our Expert Tour Guide. Many thanks, will be back soon.

Naveen Vasudevan

The place is well maintained, the staffs are very friendly. We have lot of free parking spaces. Excellent place to take kids on a weekend. They have descent cafe too.

K T

it has a great selection of different planes there's is people to take a tour

Sarah Catherine

This museum was SO incredible. It was beyond cool and had so many planes to show and so much information on our Canadian history and our roles in different wars. I was excited to go to this place to see what they had but wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I would absolutely recommend anyone go and take a look at this place, even if you aren't huge into planes or this kind of history

Lord Lynn

Cool museum. Awesome planes. The vollunteer tour guides are friendly and absolutely lovely to talk to. Great experience!

Gediminas Handzel

Very awesome place! The staff were extremely friendly and polite. There are many things to do, and for the price I say it’s worth a visit.

Rashmi M

????Great place...must visit to see new VR program 'Berlin Blitz'.... It was amazing experience...also the staff is very friendly... experienced, ex-pilots and ex-aircraft officers ....must visit.... Special.ecent coming up on Father's day.

22nd Markham Scout YHW, SWC

Great place for youths to learn more about history. Sleepover program is perfect for Grade 3+. Staffs and volunteers are fabulous.

Brent Preuss

A cool place to visit. Cost is decent for something you'll likely spend a couple hours at. We were fortunate to go on a weekend that had a show and shine going on for some classic cars. If they had a couple more interactive displays that may keep the attention of younger kids a bit more. Was really cool to be able to sit in the avro cf100.

A.S. Security Surveillance Inc

Absolutely a remarkable place, piece of real military Canadian history, and the staff is simply great. Proud to be annual member!

Brad Sanderson

I love the museum. Attended a Classic Car show there... with the warbird planes and cars... lots of photographic opportunities... great photos. Took out a annual membership at the museum. A sample of a few of many of the cars on display that weekend below.

Farah Tabassum Dola

Very beautiful place with lots of aircrafts. My father is also an air force officer. I felt so nostalgic here.

Arefin Chowdhury

Awesome place to visit if you love airplanes and history. You will be proud visiting there as a Canadian

Mark Mcnamara

Looks like an interesting venue for Canadian wartime historians.

Sally Bonsra

Excellent experience with the help of Bill as our guide

Claire Sturgeon

Great family day, was a bit busy when we went but I would def go back again and again. Took my RAF vet grandfather for his 85th birthday and he loved it!!

Ron McCallum

Great place to visit history in action.

Alex Murray

Always great to visit. A nice gentleman (Walter, I believe), let our family sit in the Tutor and CF-100. Highly recommended! A true example of Canadian History at its best!

Anis Ahmed

It's a must go...huge collection of vintage aircraft from ww2...

Anindya Saha

This museum has a galore of collection from the war zone flights. Enriches knowledge from Canadian historical events. In fact there is a small surprise flight gifted by Disney used during actual showtime. Good place to discover the war heads, flights used in old days along with kids.

James Duross

I went with my brother in law, we had a really good guide, he knew a lot of the back stories of the aircraft and the battles that they were in. It was very humbling in the best sense, to see what people we never knew did for us. We started with the VR presentation - it definitely is the way to begin, it sets the stage for what follows.

Kevin Walsh

Great place to visit! Some of the nicest collection of planes. It’s great to see the planes being preserved and refurbished so well. I like to visit as often as I can.

Mehdi Pakzad

Nice place to go if you are plane or WWII enthusiast.

joanne martin

The museum is great but if you are only coming to enjoy the food at the runway cafe the price is expensive just to get to it. Add the museum entrance fee to your intended meal.

catherine wong

A wonderfully organised museum. But, the best part is the passionate volunteers who orientate you to the planes and provide interesting information about them. And, it's possible to go in some of the planes. Unfortunately the weather was very wet and so the planes weren't flying. But, we were told one/some of the planes fly at noon most days. That would have been extra great!

Sravan Kande

Wonderful to see and hear the stories of World War2 from the exciting staff. The story I liked most was about Spit fire flight. The virtual reality takes you in flight to Berlin during the World War2.

Daniel Abrahamsson

Great place to spend your Saturday morning. They usually have member flights on the weekend so you can see the war birds upclose, both idle and in the air. The volunteers were super friendly to talk too.

Regina Schlesinger

Great place to spend a day and learn about the war planes. They also let kids into the cockpits and use a flight simulator.

Peter Dohnal

Was a unique venue for a corporate event. Staff are great and planes are cool to see and go in.

Alex Sudnikowicz

Fantastic as always. Get chatting with the right staff and you’ll be on a Private tour before you know it. Everyone there is super passionate and knowledgeable. The canteen is basic but reasonably priced (my big brekky was 9 bucks including coffee) the kids love sitting in the planes and during the summer months going on the tarmac and watching the planes come in. 2nd year I’ve bought a membership which is by far your best bag for the buck if you plan to visit frequently!

Henry Dening

Great day. Went with my 4 year old grandson. We were both engaged for four hours. Lots going on, planes coming and going. Lots to see. He loved it and so did I. You get as close to the planes as possible. Incredible work they're doing there.

Matthew Leopardi

Great museum with an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. If you're in the area and love aircraft a visit is a must. On weekends they have aircraft actually flying too.

Seeing the world In a different way

The Canadian Warplanes Heritage museum is a fantastic place to go to. Seeing these vintage aircraft on display is amazing. The hangar is full of Canadian military aviation history that everyone should go and see. The staff and volunteers are so friendly and have lots of stories about the history of these aircraft. The hangar is very clean and you can even go for a ride in one of their vintage aircraft. You can jump into the pilot seat of some display aircraft, look at the avionics instruments, learn about aircraft technology, like engines/ ejection seats/ armament, and see how museum staff and volunteers are restoring these vintage aircraft back into an airworthy condition. You may like seeing the beautiful art pinups girls or wacky characters that was painted on the aircraft's nose to boost morale of airmen and airwomen who served in Canada's armed forces. I loved going here and you will too. If you like my reviews, videos or photos let your thumb soar high in the sky.

Mike

I must do for all aviation and history buffs. Tons to see and do and staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Enormous gift shop will help you find a gift for that hard to buy for plane fan.

Willie Mcphee

some displays where moved outside in the cold to make room for their toy sale display

Helen Bobis

The staff were ready to teach us about our warplane heritage :)

Ahmet Gökhan Kara

If you are in to World War era planes than it is a Absolutely place to see.. Wonderful selection of Airplanes

Iris C.

amazing place. Good for kids. Very helpful staff and volunteers...they all made our experience memorable. Will recommend the place.

Amazing experience! VR video included in price and you can sit in some planes. Staff have a well versed history in the planes

FlashFlying Fish

Really cool place to learn about planes. While there a plane pulling contest was taking place. Not as good as Ottawa's but at least some of theirs fly. 4/5

SmilinLion

The most amazing experience up close to history. Can't wait to take a flight!!!

Javier Pacheco

It was really interesting to see volunteers working on a restoration project. Lots of planes and exhibits packed with history, good storytelling as well. We had the opportunity to watch a few airplanes taking off and landing, they even have an observation deck.

Kevin McCluney

A treasure of Canadian aviation. A fantastic collection, cool Hornet simulation system and staff that know seemingly everything you could care to learn about flying. Coming from the US, I thought it was very cool to get the Canadian perspective on my favorite subject matter. Absolutely a must see if you're an aviation junkie like me.

Ray Truant

The only place in Canada you can walk up to a functional Lancaster or Mitchell Bomber. Some fighter jets are open to sit in. VR special displays are worth the visit, gift shop is huge but fair market prices. They have a number of flight simulators. You can watch restoration and servicing of these vintage aircraft, and can observe takeoff out on tarmac.

Jay Pase

The dedication of the employees and volunteers at this museum is extraordinary. In addition, their knowledge and passion for aircraft and the history of those aircraft is something to learn and cherish.

Libby W

The volunteers are fantastic. We chatted to someone for a solid 30 minutes all about the Lancaster and learned some really neat history. Such a good variety of planes and its neat they're all still in operation. A nice afternoon visit out.

John “Jay” McGowan

A must visit. Outstanding and knowledgeable staff being Canadian aviation history live. Tour the museum and take a local flight in a meticulously restored aircraft. It just doesn't get any better.

Shay Yufa Laserson

What a great experience and a great visit! First, thank you to all the volunteers who not only provided free guided tours, but also work on these planes and maintain them as a labour of love. Secondly, the staff is so friendly and nice. And lastly, make sure to make time for the 2 FREE virtual Oculus driven experiences! Trust me it’s well worth it. I’m so amazed as the value and fun factor we got from our visit, not something you get from every museum. Well worth the visit and thank you to everyone who works there!

Jenn Immel

Fantastic collection of airplanes. Staff at museum are friendly and very knowledgeable. Café has excellent food and very friendly staff.

Dave Jenkins

Great place to spend half a day. Kids loved it. Great people.

Danny Kroll

Beautiful display of working, in use historic war airplanes including the Lancaster.

Osama Fahmy

This is the place for military aviation enthusiasts. I loved that the place is always engaged in ongoing operations. Basically it's a restoration center rather than a static display. Many of the aircrafts in display actually fly. They let you board some planes and offer detailed explanation. On weekends you have a great chance of watching these mighty birds fly. Staff are super friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend!

JOHN JAIRO GARCIA DIAZ

Very good experience, with a lot of history of the Canadian aviation. This place is amazing with all the war planes..... Good museum to go with all the family and the instructors are very nice.

Sue Tam

The museum was nice. Lots of interesting planes to see. We enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately towards the end of our visit an experience totally put a damper on my experience and really put a bad taste in my mouth. Doesn't make me want to go back or recommend it. We had already seen all the planes inside the building and then went outside to see the displays outside. We still had at least 15 to 20 minutes left until the closed, plenty of time for us to go over, take a few pictures and have a quick look. One of the guys that volunteered there refused us the opportunity to see those planes. We assured him we would take 10 minutes tops and we would head out. He insisted it would take us 15 minutes to get to the door and would not let us go. We left without being able to see those planes. I've worked in retail before and I would have totally kept an eye on the time and would never have gone over it. We paid $16 each to get in and drove over 1.5 hours to get there. With that kind of service I highly doubt I will recommend this place to anyone. Perhaps the guy wanted us to head over to the gift shop earlier, but I was so angry I refused to even look at t the items offered. If I wasn't so angry I might've purchased something as a souvenir, but I refuse to support the museum with volunteers who was did not have any consideration of visitors.

Yaaaboiflexi

4 teenagers were entertained for 3+ hours. Philip unofficially gave us a tour and taught us a lot about various planes. Hope he has a fantastic birthday which is upcoming.

Michael Brugess

Visited for HeritageCon 2019 today, and as usual it is very inspiring. As well the vintage airplanes are awesome to see again.

Maria Paula Arias Báez

The exhibition was great, the history is all around the place. The airplains are well mantained and the guides are so kind and helpfull

Lara Saliba

A fantastic place to visit in Hamilton that's a lot of fun and also offers very interesting and eye-opening historical gems. The gift shop was fun and it was amazing to see an original plane from the war land from a flight. Reading the historical panels in the museum, looking at the photos, and walking amongst the old planes themselves in the hanger was incredible though, and very sobering. We learned a lot and it inspired a deep appreciation for what the soldiers went through and how much we owe to them and their amazing bravery and sacrifice. Definitely a valuable experience for anyone to have, highly recommend stopping by and taking some time to absorb the information.

Zefred Zefred

Really fun and educating museum for those like me who love planes and their history. Plus you can see VERA (one of the only two Lancasters still air worthy in the world) with your own eyes, for real! :D

Vlad Yarussky

Not a big collection, you should try to join when they have a flight day

Marcus Pfeiffer

Mecca for warbird fans! Canada's best war time aviation museum with a fantastic collection of aircraft, many of which fly weekly.

Kamalakanta Behera

Good place for day trip not many big planes but collections are good.

Jordan Abraham

I was at the museum this past weekend for the special car show. What a delight to see the vintage cars and planes together! The Bugatti Aerolithe was a feast all unto itself. I love the way they curate the gallery. It is an important part of our history and we are lucky to have it.

Dean Willems

Always a great day out!

Peter Gervais

Hidden gem in the Golden Horseshoe. Amazing to see these planes being rebuilt before your eyes and the flight experiences are one of a kind. Excellent value and fun for all ages.

P and T

Very friendly staff. Mostly volunteers. You will hear a lot of stories and find many resources if you are interested.

Gerhard Hohmann

Fenomenal place, planes well taken care of and the exhibits are second to none, tour guides are extremely professional, helpful, knowledgeable, etc. I'll be back for their special events and to help preserve our heritage.

Marina L

Well maintained museum. The thought of war is always hard and to think what it must have been like for the soldiers and their families is heartbreaking. The museum did a fantastic job displaying this part of history with restoration, artifacts and documentation. Good place to visit to teach the young ones.

ViV Frenette

This is a fantastic museum, everyone should immerse themselves in Canadian war history. Frank tells amazing stories related to many planes and all the volunteers are knowledgeable as well. We even got to speak with an aircraft mechanic about doing yearly tear-down inspections. The star of the show is the Lancaster which my family was lucky enough to see take off and land. Check the flight schedule on the website to see what's flying on the day of your visit. The souvenir shop is well stocked and the prices are very fair. Overall very positive experience. I also did the Night at the Museum program which was really good. I would say any kid under 6-7 might not be interested in what's going on.

it was absolutely superb. I really liked the virtual reality bombing run to Berlin,, A really superb place to visit,

Such a great place to learn about our history. The volunteers are so knowledgeable and could tell you stories for days. Have visited many times and plan to again.

Pranjali K

It was okay I guess. My class went there, and I mean- like theres a lot of planes ???? Aaaaaaaand they do teach you about er- air and stuff. Yes I would say, if your into the raw history of Canada, go ahead.

Gary Ferris

This is a great place to visit, the history, the great flying machines and everything about this exhibit is extraordinary!!

Melanie G

Amazing event staff! CWHM has been hosting our annual event for over a decade. Highly recommended.

Meaghan Edwards

Since I was a child, my family and I have gone to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum since its original building (before it burned down). You can get close to their planes and for some you can even get to sit in them, and see restorations being done. Even undergoing winter maintenance, I marvel at their pride, the Lancaster (very few exist). As well, the displays are informative without being overwhelming. There is a nice cafe, where one can get a tea and a muffin or whatnot without paying an arm or a leg (lunches are also served). I have also gone to their excellent Remembrance Day service; one more reason for me to support the CWHM.

Paul Pan

Very friendly staff and welcoming environment, although it does not have contemporary fighter jets, it has quite a lot historical war planes on display and a nice area for history exhibit. They also have free tours to show you some important planes. You can even fly on one of the trainers with an instructor.

Brian McKechnie

This was such an interesting and educational experience. Highly recommended, especially around Remembrance Day.

Bryan Teal

Amazing place to experience world war memorabilia and some seriously awesome war planes! fun for the whole family!

Jean-Francois Désilets

Interesting and vast collection of planes. Available flights are quite reasonable for the experience and age of aircraft being kept in flying condition

Rafal Kusiak

Amazing place to take a trip back to the past it really makes you appreciate what Canada has done for WW2. Fun for the whole family everyone that works here is very knowledgeable and takes pride in what they do. Super place . I would recommend this museum to family's and solo travellers willing to take a trip back in time. Thank you heritage a place museum for a great bday!

Mike Damaren

What an amazing museum! Many aircraft choices to fly in, lots of aircraft on display to get close to and, great volunteers that are keen for the visitors to have a great time. I am definitely going back!! You will not be disappointed.

thomas H

Fantastic work restoring the aircraft and all the exhibits documenting our fine history

Ken Brisbois

Fantastic time on the weekends most of the planes fly and you can watch them taxi in and out they fly overhead it's like taking you back in time would recommend

Livy K

There were some Museum nights here. My kids loved it.

Peter Andrews

Excellent. Enthusiastic staff, and you can really get up close to the exhibits.

Jaclyn

I've been to many aircraft museums around the world but had never previously visited this one in my own backyard. Many great planes and exhibits to see. I can't say enough about our tour guide Yves- he was very personable and knowledgeable. We were asking quite technical questions and appreciated him taking the time to thoroughly answer.

Jan Mathew

Awesome place, I wasn't a huge fan of war planes but took my kids for a fun day out. When we got there I was awed by the collection they have and you can get to them up close. Signs says no touch but who can resist? Then the one and only Lancaster landed and then took off again after we had lunch in their cafe. I had a great time! My kids are 5 and 2 years old.

Luis Guillermo Torres Ribero

Mike's tour was the best. All of the volunteers there make a great job and are very knowledgeable about the airplanes and the history. Definitely a place to go if you like airplanes and learning. You can even book a 20 minute-ish flight if you want to but you'll have to be (or become) a member.

Monkey Man

went here a wile ago on a school trip and loved it. so many neat planes and my favourite, the Lancaster

Mackenzie Smith

My partner and his mom went here as a surprise for a relative. They had a great time and the staff were all so kind. They even sent them home with cake!

Jin Won Han

I brought my 4, 8, and 13 year kids there in PD day. It was great for all of them. The elder tried 40 min. training session in the "Air Combat Zone". The instructor was very kind and sincere. The training was recommended for 10+, but younger ones could enjoy a flying simulator - a simpler version. The volunteers were so nice and ready for answering your questions. The canteen was quite good. The museum may be small but was filled with the "real" things.

Lorena Marin

Amazing place! My child loves it ❤❤❤ We enjoy the food, the planes and thanks to Bob the volunteer who teached as a lot of this Canadian War Heritage. We learnt a lot.

Mandy Thomson

Just arrived home from the experience of my husband having gone up on a Lancaster flight for his 80th birthday. I can't say enough about the thrill for him. What amazed me even more, is how the staff/volunteers "curated" the whole experience - the preboarding debrief and info, the respect and inclusiveness that was shown to the accompanying family members - tarmac access to take pictures on take-off and landing etc., and the post boarding debrief as well as the careful care and consideration for the 4 passengers - truly outstanding in all respects. Many thanks for this extraordinary experience!

My Phone

Great place to spend a few hours with the kids. Some of the cockpits are open to sit in and it is pretty neat to get up close to some truly historic planes. They also take some of the planes out for some flybys. Really great to hear the engine roar. You can watch from a tarmac patio or the rooftop!

Steven Shih

A fascinating museum with a collection of planes that you can get on and touch. Children friendly as well.

mark jabora

Took our granddaughter there to see all the planes there. We were able to talk to the volunteers there giving us a tour and history of some of the planes. Very informative and nice to see the planes up close that fly over our house.

David Covill

Fantastic place given a tour by a great tour guide. Got up close and personal to the aircraft one of the best museums I have been too.

Gary Biddle

Amazing museum with some stunning exhibits. Great facilities and absolutely fantastic staff, and volunteers who make your visit so memorable. No hesitation whatsoever in recommending you visit, especially if you would like to get up really close to the aircraft or even pay to fly in one of the aircraft, even fly in one of only 2 air worthy Lancaster bombers in the world!

JitAle Sondhi

I took my 6 year old son here for our first visit. The volunteers were wonderful in sharing their knowledge and making the experience truly memorable. I highly recommend for anyone who is interested in the RCAF airplanes. We will definitely visit again. We spent two hours and my son would have enjoyed staying longer.

Brad Greenwood

Amazing place, the history alone is worth the price of admission...

Jason D

Great place with lots to look at. A lot of great displays, informative material and interactive displays. Admission is well worth the price. A great place for kids as well as adults. They have many aircraft to view and they have a fleet of planes that you can fly in for a fee. We did the free walking tour and it was great, especially Michael and Art. We had a great experience and highly recommend visiting! (There is a restaurant on site but we didn't try it)

David R

Very cool, just wish they had a plane that you could have had a tour in like the bush plane museum. Awesome to see the Lancaster and we get to see the Mitchell in the air quite a bit so it was cool to see up close

steve yeltsen

Went there for a flight in a Harvard trainer. Flight was scheduled for 12 noon. Arrived at 11:15 as advised. Noticed a guy in the flight office filling out forms for what I assumed was the 11:00 flight which he appeared to have arrived late for. Not a good sign. I was told at 11:20 that there was a scheduling issue and my flight would not be until 12:30. Walked around the museum for a bit for what turned out to be one hour and 40 minutes. I was in the flight office by 1:00 and in the plane by 1:15. I was not happy. The flight experience was incredibly awesome and made up for the wait but I would not go back. I was given dirty looks by the guy that had the flight scheduled after me (like I was the problem) and maybe the same thing happened to the guy in front of me, idk. While filling out my forms the pilot was on the phone saying the flight after me was not scheduled. Go at your own risk and don't schedule anything important after your given flight time.

LD Harrison

Wonderful volunteer created museum. Lots of interesting refurbished planes and knowledgeable and friendly volunteers! Should have a few more benches throughout for older or disabled people. Even sitting down there's lots to see! Be sure to watch the short movies.

Allen De Rabbie

Great place to take the kids and learn a little history and have some fun

robert mansfield

This was pretty cool to explore and talk to the volunteers. Amazing to see all the old war planes and the restorations that have been done to give them new life. Will be back

Mike Harcus

Knowledgable and friendly staff/vollenteers. Interesting aircraft.

Brett Morris

Great place to see and learn about Canadian warplane history. A little pricey to get in for a family of 4, but the money goes to our history.

Haydn Streeter

Fantastic hands on experience! The volunteers are so knowledgeable and passionate about the aircraft, a must see for enthusiasts and history lovers. Also before Covid had amazing virtual reality show. Hopefully it will be running again soon.

Ms. Bubba

Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is an ideal place to learn about Canada's role during the war. A definite "eye-opener". The volunteers are sincerely passionate in their knowledge when describing the various warplanes on display. If you're interested in airplanes or looking for something to do with your family, I would recommend to visiting this museum. Staff are very friendly, accessible and willing to answer questions. Washrooms and a cafe are on site. There were no line ups. Reasonably priced admission. There's a pretty big gift shop, which you pass through on your way out. You can find information on current events, and museum details by visiting their website.

GS

Great place to visit if you love Airplanes and want to know about canadian history in airplanes.

Saad Souabni

Alex is a great tour guide! We weren’t anticipating a guided tour but he came up, asked if we had any questions, and before you know it we were getting a personalized tour that went above and beyond our expectations - including getting to enter some of the cockpits to get a feel for the real deal!

James Dietrich

The Museum is an outstanding place to learn about Canadian aviation and Canadian Military aircraft. Lots of interactive displays and a knowledgeable friendly staff. I would highly recommend visiting the Museum.

Sinan Cirak

If you are interested in history and airplanes, you should visit. Thank you.

Vicky Conner

Rich in history. Very knowledgeable staff. Great value - lots to see and do!

Alec

One of my favourite museums that has something to get the attention and interest of everyone. The CWHM differs from most museums in that just about everyone you see is a passionate volunteer working to maintain and fly one of world's best fleets of historic aircraft (including one of two flying Lancaster bombers) . The planes have drip pans under them because they still fly, and the enthusiasm and passion the volunteers have is evident in everyone you speak with. The museum itself has a good set of exhibits on Canada's military aviation history, but the bulk of the museum is a hanger filled with these planes. You can get close, ask questions, and maybe even see one take off. On top of that they hold regular events and have a good restaurant on-site. A true working museum with a collection of aircraft and talent that places it among the best aircraft museums in North America.

William Kwok

Very entertaining, staffs are friendly. Roughly 3 hours stay. Definitely worth the trip

Jessica

Clean, and friendly place for a family outing. The food is amazing.....especially the fries! The airplanes are amazing to look at and some you can sit in. The gift shop is nice but alot of expensive items to purchase. Great first time experience

Patti Deroche

A lovely venue for a function. Attended a Celabration of Life here yesterday. Luncheon provided was delicious.

Interesting museum, surprisingly a numbers of planes still in fully operational condition and used for different occasions

Emma Schofield

Our guide, Bill, was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. The virtual reality was a very cool experience, it was an awesome place to visit.

John Hayes

Fantastic showing of vintage war planes and open views of restorations in progress. Very nice gift shop with many air related things to buy. Especially impressed with the Lancaster as my dad was a tail gunner in one.

Freya

Great place to go if you're in the area and for any aviation nerds. The tour guides were wonderful and friendly. When we were there there was a tiny concert / gathering going on. Did not check out the café but I have heard good things about it. I recommend this place if you're in the area.

Hibah Alnaimi

there is simulation and actual airplain with a captain of course they have dine in area...they have some kids and family events around the year but be prepeared for long lines.

jetskijoki

We enjoyed the personal tour from this gentleman so much. So very Canadian polite and informative! His personal touch even impressed my daughter surprisingly. Great inventory of diverse aircraft. Most of the aircraft had an interesting story. Thank you so much.

Eddy Campos

Greatest place ever to take children. We're respect is taught

Anna M

Decent experience. There are people available who can share the history/story of the planes out on display. Some of the planes are still doing their rounds of flying. Visitors have the opportunity to experience sitting in the plane while flying, but the appointment must be book in advance. Check out their website for details.

Hardik Makwana

Must visit place. Very good exhibits. VR show was superb. Volunteers are very passionate and this made our experience awesome :)

Tom P.

Exceptional on all levels. Historical, patriotic and a true learning experience. Best curated museum of its kind. Kids love too!!! Especially the gift shop and photo opportunities. The venue provides parking at no cost and can be rented for special occasions. Remembrance Day here offers a grand level of respect paid to our brave veterans and soldiers. This museum is tremendous.

MJG

Very cool museum for anyone who enjoys airplanes or history. Tons of different airplanes to see in the hanger. Quite enjoyable for kids of all ages and adults. Definitely a must see if you're in the area. The Covid rules are a bit ridiculous. They expected a 3 year old to wear a mask. Lol was quite comical. 4/5.

Worth a visit if you like vintage aircraft. Tour guides are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Aleksandria M

Great museum with the great collection, so much stuff to see.

Mona Venegas

Amazing place for all family. We enjoy it. Delicious breakfasts.

S Wakil

It's a great place, they have put great efforts to preserve all machines. Make sure you arrive in a way that you can attend the outdoor tour. The outdoor tour happens at the hour. Like at 10, then 11 and the last was at 4 PM, if rain then the outdoor tour cancelled. I was there being a Canadian to remember those who fought for us.

sameer

Kids were excited and thrilled to see such huge planes. There are people inside who explain to the depth when you ask them questions. It was very clean and well organized. The ticket price is a bit high but still ok for the kind of maintenance inside.

Dave Wilson

Canadian Warplane Heritage is a one of a kind experience. It is run by passionate men and women who volunteer their time experience and money to honour and remember all those things people who sacrificed so much for our freedoms and our liberty. It is a breathtaking facility full of incredible machines and devoted people.

Sam Karb

Cool place to visit in Hamilton if you enjoy airplanes! ✈️ Staff is very nice Nd you absolutely have to try the VR experience!

Matt Mansell

I attend a few times a year. Amazing flying stock, fantastic restorations and the staff is out of this world. I was able to make it down for the wheels 'n wings event this year which was spectacular. Keep it up, CWHM!

Dina McPhee

Every Canadian should visit this museum. WOW!!! It made me so very proud to be Canadian!

Sierra Knowles

This was my first time going and I was pleasantly surprised. Our 2 year old nephew loved it.The staff was very deticated and excited to share information about the different planes and even help you sit in some of them! They offer plane rides at all different price points in various propeller planes, including the Lancaster. It was a really cool experience and I would definitely revisit.

Lisa Burn

This is the second time we brought our airplane enthusiast nephew to this museum and he has found it a blast both times! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful!

Hans De Wilde

An excellent sense of history ,especially of great sacrifice during the, second world War. If you love aviation this is a museum that you should visit
