REVIEWS OF Art Gallery of Ontario IN Brampton

Lynne Thibault

Lots of great art work. Was there for Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrors exhibit. Which was really interesting you have to have a timed entrance time to get in. But once in you can take your time wondering the exhibit. But there lots of other great exhibits to see at the AGO.

Wasifa Noshin

Pretty crowded during the weekends but overall a great gallery experience. I met my current partner here so that was a plus.

twitter sora

infinity mirror exhibit was quite the experience, never seen anything like it. however the amount of time spent standing in line coupled with the extremely limited time allowed in each of the rooms was painful.

Olessia Kouzina

Good art gallery. Steep prices, considering most galleries around the world are donation based, and AGO doesn’t offer much of a unique experience. It has a really cool wooden hallway that Frank Gehry designed. There’s a vast gift shop and a themed restaurant, that adjusts it’s menu in accordance with a special exhibition that is happening at the time.

Iris Iri

I love coming here because it's nice to walk around artwork. If you're a student be sure to get the free annual pass for students! The staff is nice and the social distancing is alright.

Kim

The Andy Warhol exhibit was really good, I missed seeing the soup can but it was very thorough.

Larissa F.

I fell in love with this gallery from the moment I first saw it. The collections are amazing, although the architecture is my favourite part. My two favourite exhibits here were Infinity Mirrors and the Guillermo del Toro exhibit.

Jeff Good

Love the AGO. And the exhibits we've been to, including Warhol this weekend, have always been great. Be the wayfinding and signage is brutally bad. Yes, there are maps, and yes, there are numbers for the rooms on those maps, but no clue is provided as to what is in the rooms. Sure, signs say "Contemporary" but if I want to find a particular artist then I'm on my own. Frustrating and disappointing.

Alexandra Ziolkowski

I love the AGO! I’ve been to a couple of exhibits and all of them have been very cool and interesting. Most recently, I’ve been to the Picasso exhibition. I loved it. The only thing was that it was a bit crowded for my taste for a museum. I also went on a Friday morning so I would recommend checking out the exhibits on a less busy day if you like to leisurely walk around the exhibit. Although it was a bit crowded, I still enjoyed the art.

Deborah Doucette

It was certainly a different experience since pre covid but the magnificence of the gallery and it’s extraordinary exhibits remains unchanged, if not slightly heightened with the anticipation and reveal after finally being admitted in. Long gone are the days of languishing in the gallery without worry or concern, shoulder to shoulder but the beauty and sheer ambiance of viewing the artwork remain stunning and unscathed. Well worth the wait & particularly, the upgrade (nominal fee) re/annual pass.

Zeynep C

An architectural beauty! There are great ticket and membership discounts. 25 & under get to enjoy the museum for free. The Indigenous Art Exhibit was an emotional and an intellectual experience. A must visit if you are in Toronto.

Brian Watson

Don't miss the ship models in the basement! The ship models and the winding staircases were my favorite part. I enjoyed my visit, though found the contemporary art a little too contemporary for my tastes. Obligatory European religious paintings, but the collection of old illuminated manuscripts and the carved prayer beads was an unexpected delight.

House of Michelle

I’ve visited here frequently when there is special exhibit. eg, the Picasso painting the blue period. Due to covid, there is visitors limitation, so be prepared for longer time before you enter the exhibit hall.

Steve Lee

Reserve time-stamped tickets ahead of time. AGO has really good covid protocols to be safe. I felt safe. It was my first time going to an art museum to really see art and it was a great experience. Learned a lot and I could be immersed in it.

Arash Ghorayshi

We were there for the Infinity mirror show. It was a bit crowded but the staff were great at guiding people through. The show was fantastic and entertaining, some of the pictures came out great while the rest were just weird. The gift store always has something interesting and unique to buy or to play with. Always a great place to visit when you are downtown. Make sure to walk there, great restaurants in the area.

Linh Nguyen

Love the AGO! Lots of paintings and exhibits to see: Monet, group of seven, Picasso, etc. Great layout. It never felt too crowded. Architecture inside is beautiful.

EllyO

Great Ruben's exhibition. I enjoyed also Kusama glass chamber. Good to stop in front of some art pieces and hear explanations and comments of the Gallery's staff.

HADARIO

Wow what a place to visit. I would say this is the largest Art gallery I've been to. They have about 4 floors of art. I spent 2.5 hours just on the first floor. They have Picasso's blue period and Michael Wong both was lovely in seeing. I would invest in the membership for $35 if you live in the area. Definitely would be worth it and be able to fully enjoy the experience

Stephen Mendoza

AGO is a must for art enthusiasts- and even if you’re looking to just go do something, you’re bound to get inspired here. P.s, their tour guides are the most passionate and engaging guides I’ve ever interacted with.

Szilard Szadvari

A little too crowded for my liking, but really nice and a good time! If you're under 25 it's a free entry as well so you won't lose anything by checking it out.

M Bucheeri

Lovely gallery but the layout is a bit confusing and it’s easy to miss a part of an exhibition if you dont follow the map properly. Might be useful to have recommended directional arrows for people who want to see it all.

Vladimir Shnayderman

Great artistic and architectural space in the heart of Toronto. Love the layout and the design inside.

Gabi Szenajch

My favourite museum in Toronto. If I had more time, I would spent there whole day. ????‍????

Rebecca Singh

Get a membership, you can't see everything in one day. Spent over an hour at the Andy Warhol exhibit. I have to come back! Great time and coordination with COVID restrictions

Karen Mork

Go on the evening that there is free admission. I don't remember the day but it will say on the website. I enjoyed it but it was nothing earth shattering. Go when it's free :)

Carlos Martinez

If you are under 25 you can get a free annual pass, if not it will only cost you 35$ a year. It's worth it, when I went there where great exhibitions. Worth visiting at least.

Lori F

I’ve been to AGO multiple times and I have so much fun every time! There are so many unique pieces to look at and little events going on. All the staff are sweet as well.

Tram Ngo

Love the front facade designed by Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry. Great place to take the kids to learn about art and art history. Interesting place for a date night. Free for anyone under 25 and Wednesday night from 6-9pm.

Yolanda Yu

Great collection of art pieces, still benefitting from the free entry (as I'm under 25) and am really enjoying it

Alan Bulley

Thoroughly enjoyed the very large Warhol show and the Wong paintings were beautiful.

Zoltan Wagner

Nice art collection but the signage could be better. Larger than it looks from the outside. Also a nice view over the city from the funky staircase.

Sridhar Mocherla

Huge place, full of interesting exhibits from all over the world. I loved going though the special Picasso exhibits - lots of fascinating context to it. COVID protocols were mostly adhered to, and there wasn’t a huge crowd. The Annual pass …

Zoe MacKenzie

I love the AGO as an adult but it is also an amazing place for kids. Downstairs from the main floor there is an amazing area set up for kids. Be sure not to miss out on this great find if you are visiting with the littles.

Zoey Zou

Have very good collections, architecture are also great. I spend almost 4 hours there.

Paul Kozak

Good world-class cultural institution has decent shows once in awhile. addition by architect Frank gehry is interesting and good use of wood. shows are always overcrowded even though they do time visits I feel like they should increase the opening hours. Used to be nice peaceful Gallery but now it's super hectic and busy with people on their phones. it's very difficult to enjoy the artwork. Last time I was there I was told off by the security guard because I was blocking somebody who wanted to take a photo of the work.

Anita Windisman

Pro tip for Toronto residents: You can get a FREE pass for 4 (2 adults and 2 children) from your local Toronto Public Library branch. Well worth a visit. My favourites: Group of Seven and Henry Moore. Other notables from Warhol and Picasso.

Jenn F (Hibou)

EDIT: Came back on a later date ! Great collection. Lovely building. Also it's free on Wednesdays after 6pm! :) I didn't actually get to enter as I had shown up to late xD hahaha. Oh well !

Bo Shiun

Love coming here for the Group of Seven collection. The $35 annual pass is a small and reasonable price to pay to enjoy a world-class collection that delineates Canada's natural beauty. A must-see attraction to all tourists to Toronto.

Bradley Man

Great art gallery, got to see the Infinity Mirror. Exhibit was well organized and felt like there was always enough staff around to keep the line moving.

P.

Excellent art gallery & eateries inside the gallery. Wonderful Canadian artists highlighted. Beautiful winter scenes by David Milne! I saw historical art pieces from the 1100s. The men's washrooms were clean & attractive. Free admission due to my membership with SF MOMA!

jg caba

An insanely unique space. It’s gorgeous inside and outside. The space is home to the country’s most extensive art collection.

David Cananzi

If you're visiting from out of country, or want to see Canadian pre-war art, go see the Group of Seven collection!

Daniel

I've been to it multiple times. The art there is really good and they have quite a vast collection, but you have to know someone if you're going there because they have confusing maps. This never posed a problem to me but I imagine it could for some tourists. They consistently run long exhibitions, which as of now is the Andy Warhol exhibit, which is really well done, but takes up a lot of the gallery if you're not interested in seeing it.

Susan Heldt

Recommend the $35 annual pass, worth it, makes a fabulous gift. Take the free tour, you will learn so much more.

Mike McMahon

QUESTION: Was it worth the 3.5 hour lineup to get two tickets to see an exhibition by a famous artist who used dots and her obsession with phallic shaped items to overcome her fear of sex? ANSWER: If it is your only chance to see the exhibition that sold out quickly and the only Canadian stop on its tour closes in three days, then the answer is yes. Don't say you will go when you a round tooit, because the show is filled with all colors and sizes of those round things. They are just waiting to be gazed upon by you and to become one with the sublime energy of the universe.

Darren

One of the best on the continent. Powerhouse Canadian collection and very good exhibitions featuring international artists.

Daria

If you are coming from Europe and have already visited famous museums everywhere else, this gallery won't be of interest. But it's a good place to start of to learn about art. They also hold Thursday Nights in Museum parties every once in a while. You should check this out.

Jenna Williams

Would highly recommend the Art Gallery of Ontario if you are in town! The architectural update by Frank Gehry is stunning and a true work of art. The gallery is also in a great hub of culture in town with many activities to do in and around the area!

Alixe Melis

Great museum, great architecture, very pleasant to walk around. Obviously loved the stairs that go out to the outside, offers a great view on the city. I recommend!

AlanaSophia

Great art gallery, very nice art, friendly staff, free guided tours, good space, free for under 25!

Samantha Wilson

Long line but breezed through it fast! Very Welcoming staff. It was good to see them outside making sure everyone knew it would be fast and checking tickets, ensuring safety. The Caribbean exhibit was not what I expected. I was a bit disappointed on the flow and vibe. I was expecting more authentic art from islanders; some culture and history. There is so much creativity when I am in the islands but didn’t feel that. The steel pan Drums where awesome. I wanted to dance. The huge floor was available to dance socially distant. Some areas got a bit crowded and needed staff for control. The Boats downstairs was amazing to see with the details on a miniature scale it must have seemed tedious but worth it. Beautifully displayed and on the way to the bathroom so no one would miss it. Great location. Parking is in front and can be used down the street to go to a neighbourhood restaurant after.

Jonathan Segal

The AGO is a great place to spend a rainy day. Always something cool going on there, we came to see the Edward Burtynsky show and it was awesome! The the building itself modern, clean, and happening. The restaurant they have is also very good, a bit pricey but well worth it. Good job Toronto!

Alessandro

Loved the place and the entire exhibit. definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Toronto. the building itself was very nice, and all the parts of the exhibit were breathtaking and very interesting

Victoria B

Finally had a chance to go to the Art Gallery of Ontario and although I did not spend a lot of time there it was pretty nice! There were a lot of indigenous artists that were being featured and reading some of the curator notes this was done intentionally. The staff were all very kind and it wasn't too difficult to enter the space and get out. It is wheelchair accessible. There is a coat station which cost a couple bucks to store your stuff while you walk around.

Anna Maramba

AGO has always been my “Go To” gallery to satisfy my craving for modern visual art. It has well curated special exhibits and their ongoing exhibits are also quite wonderful. This place brings me so much joy!

Sharon Lam

Tons to see. You could go weekly for the free Wednesday evenings for a while and still not see everything. Even if you couldn't get an Infinity Mirrors ticket you could see the one introductory exhibit room... Narcissus' Garden

Tsy Mrl

Nothing better than a visit to this amazing gallery on a raining day! Stunning architecture, great selection, free activities, lovely staff and shop, can’t wait to go back

Andrew Epstein

Great show, comprehensive overview of Warhol's work. Good Covid protocols. Not too crowded, despite Sunday afternoon.

Sepideh Sarajian Maralan

This museum was bigger than what I expected it to be. I loved the contemporary art and indigenous artists sections. It can take about 3 hours to see all of the works there.

Laura Kennedy

Went here years ago and wasn't impressed, however I decided to give it a try again and OMG it was awesome! I think last time it was under renovation so a lot of the museum was closed, however now there is an endless amount of beautiful artworks and exhibitions. I really enjoyed my time here!

Luis Espinosa

Wonderful art gallery with lots to see and new exhibits being brought in to keep it fresh. Will definitely be back to finish seeing everything. Staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Renee G.

The Art Gallery of Ontario is amazing! We enjoyed our first visit recently. The collection of Canadian art is outstanding. The Inuit art is stunning. It's worth the visit just for that room. The Group of Seven artwork is a brilliant collection. Seeing these pieces in person is amazing. The colours are brilliant. Another remarkable collection was that of David Milne. There is a great variety of styles (e.g. model ships in the lower level) at the AGO and even the architecture of the building is impressive.

Jamie Carr

A good museum, with a broad range of art in the permanent collection. The range of medieval/Renaissance European art is limited (much less than in Montreal’s art museum), but there is a large coverage of contemporary art. Plenty of coverage of First Nation art as well, even if they are sometimes randomly placed within other sections. Highlight was certainly the Andy Warhol exhibition - a very good coverage of his life and main works, and highly recommend getting the audio guide (accessible on the AGO website).

Renée Martel

We went to the impressionism exhibition. It was nice. And learned a lot about Paris. Also about industrialization.

Mariia Ryzhenko

We visited Andy Warhol exhibition with the student annual pass which was free of charge. I never paid for the ticket in AGO and I am grateful for that. The art in Toronto is accessible for students and as a designer student I love it. I always look through the emails from AGO to see what they have to visit.

Tamara MiJu

I like how the art is presented as equally important regardless of the origin of the artist. Our guide Susan showed us some of the gems of the exhibitions and guided us in a pleasant and witty way. The building itself is worth a visit, the art makes it magical. I highly recommend it, including the free tour.

david applebaum

The AGO is free on Wednesday evenings and you can wander through the exhibits at your own pace. This is a fantastic option for a Wednesday evening and it won't cost you a thing!

Kate Babak

Really pretty building, especially with the extension. Most fun to visit when new exhibits are on display. Membership is really affordable, and then it's nice to come visit during the year and especially in the winter.

Ryan Stephenson

AGO is one of the hottest cultural places to be in the city of Toronto atm. And with epic exhibits like Infinity Mirrors and Anthropocene it's hard to not want in! Not to mention it is the spot for all ages. Super kid friendly but also stuff for adults to eat drink and wonder. AGO also boast an awesome cafe and bistro which has yet to disappoint!

Irene

One of the best art galleries in Canada. You need a whole day at least, to cover some ground. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. They have a huge collection of works by Canadian artists, especially of the Group of Seven. The gallery also has temporary exhibitions from time to time, where artworks from different parts of the world are on display. A boutique functions as part of the gallery, and has a good collection. Among the best ways to spend your time in Toronto.

Natasha A.

Great Andy Warhol exhibit going on now!! They have wonderful gift shop items too :)

Soph

A really fun and cool art gallery with lots of cool rotating exhibits! We loved coming here and looking around! We came to see the Andy Warhol exhibit and it was amazing. The rest of the museum's layout can be a bit confusing. Definitely check out the Indigenous art section, one of the most powerful art displays I've ever seen. On top of all that, we went for free because AGO has a free admission pass for anyone between the ages of 14 to 25. We applied online and got our tickets online, it was super easy! Definitely an amazing experience, even moreso if you don't have to pay!

farahediba

Amazing place to see and enjoy the painting and history.

Allison Fraser

This museum has an amazing collection displayed in great spaces (love the use of wood here). It's a nice getaway from the thrum of the city. Take time to visit the Grange as well. Coat check, around the corner from the ticket booth, is complementary and they refuse tips.

Lucas Marquezin

AGO is amazing! I definitely recommend the visit. Plus, if you're under 25 you get enter for free, just subscribe in their website!

Jason Michael

One of my favourite Art Galleries not only in the World but definitely in Toronto. On par with Art Galleries in Miami, Kyoto, and New York!

nick

The best art museum in the city. Though the collection may be somewhat limited compared to other art museums in large cities, it offers a great selection from artists of different eras, ranging from Van Gogh to Picasso alike. My favorite part is the commentary of the artworks, they are very comprehensive and offers a great insight to the history and the creative process from each of the artworks displayed.

Kevin Barry McGinley

Nice place, not much social distancing at the exhibits, Andy Warhol exhibit was very interesting!

Jennifer Farrell

Great large collection of art and sculpture. The Brian Jungen collection is astounding. The infinity room was not that great, to be honest.

Yaoyan Huang

Always fun to visit the art gallery. Came for the Picasso exhibit today but unexpectedly also really liked Mathew Wong's exhibit. The free membership for under 25 has allowed me to see a lot of interesting exhibits over the years. Definitely grateful for it.

chris rombis

So much more in this exhibit, go before its over AGO.

Edward Comor

I am baffled by the enthusiastic reviews herein… Several exhibit rooms are not well/properly lit (I have noticed this each time I’ve visited over the past four years), especially some of those housing Group of Seven paintings. Bulbs are not replaced promptly and natural light sources are not fully utilized. The less ‘showy’ parts of the building also have a rather depressing starkness to them, as if the art inside is being displayed in some kind of sealed chamber. Last time I went, many of the European classics had been relegated to remote rooms (gee, I wonder why?) and a DJ was blasting music from the atrium that echoed into other rooms on the same floor (including the Picasso exhibit). This visit in particular made me nostalgic for the old building and trips to galleries elsewhere. Disappointing.

Kishmar Best

A wide variety of interesting exhibits. Visited during the free period (Wednesdays 6pm-9pm) but would definitely pay to return in the future. Not too crowded.

Melissa H

Art and curation, absolutely spot on. Wonderfully diverse collection. Will go 5 stars with better Covid protocols.

Simon Bromberg

Great building with a surprisingly large collection, lots of cool special exhibitions. There's an amazing model ship collection downstairs. Lines can get a bit long on the weekend, and the prices are a bit high.

Ada T

we went to the AGO for the Warhol exhibit. We purchased the tix online and arrived at our allotted time slot. It was easy to access and navigate. The exhibit itself was very interesting and well put together. Overall a great experience!

Jonathan Ferguson

Absolutely fantastic gallery. Booking online was incredibly easy and straightforward. Very appreciative of the free annual passes for 25 and under. Will be back again next time I’m in Toronto!!!

Yuki Chui

I have been here for so many times. Really enjoyed the Andy Warhol exhibition! Such a great place to visit arts. Love the whole building with the large glass windows. The design of the stairs are pretty amazing too. They also got place for food and resting as well. Great place for hanging out with friends and learning about art, both historical and contemporary, international and Canadian! Really friendly staffs. And you can get a free pass online if you are under 25! Also enjoying shopping at the art store too.

Ann Sloss

Beautiful eay to spend an aftrnoon

Cailin Robert Campbell And Green

Warhol exhibit was great. Check out the ships in the basement. Whole facility exhibits were excellent

Lloyd Blades

Great location in the heart of Toronto. Near to parking, subway and streetcars. Beautiful exhibits to view from various contributors.

Chris Radley

This is one of my favourite places in the city. Been to many galleries around the world and the AGO can stand on an international level. Many well known and historical artists. A very large indigenous section as well.

A

Went to the opening night of the infinity mirrors and their new changes. Very pleased that they are making art accessible to youth, free under ages 25! This art gallery is HUGE and would take hours to explore every single detail of it. We did not take the main staircase to the second level so when we approached the attendant for the infinity mirrors, he was slightly rude when we told him we didn’t have tickets for the exhibit. We did not know that there was a kiosk at the top of the main stairs. Asides from that, the night was great!

Ahsaan Rizvi

Great collection of art in the heart of downtown. The gallery has 5 floors with one level dedicated for special events and basement for small models of ships. Other floors are easily accessible via elevators and stairs. Level 2 is what I enjoyed the most with art from 1200s, there is a beautiful gallery in Canadian indigenous people as well as sculpture art collection on the same floor. Coat check is available for 2 bucks, art shop is also located on the main floor. Municipal Parking is available nearby like 40 larch street.

Tyhme Thompson

Great museum, only downfall is trying to find accessible parking.

Alberto Sassi

Best art museum in Toronto. They have a great collection of Renaissance and Canadian art. Special exhibitions are also really good. Totally worth a trip !

Scott Cong

Free admission under 25 is absolutely a big plus for visiting AGO, also Picasso is coming next summer.

Uli B

Love this place! Every single time I’m very inspired after visit.

Angela Leung

Instead of Kusama 60-second mirrored room for most people, we came for Brian Jungen. Awesome!

Delroy D

It's an ok gallery. Hard to navigate with all the dead ends and no entry signs all over. Needs a redesign. Poor accessibility. Had a hard time getting around with a stroller so imagine someone in a wheelchair.

Tim Chase Photography

No wait

Aminah Baig

Had fun at the exhibit! Lost my debit card and they were able to secure it within seconds. Coat check gentlemen was extremely rude. Didn't give us any time of day, though of us like a number. Told us to hurry up. Very unprofessional and unhappy with the service. Won't be using it again!!

Rachel Ruffo

The AGO is full of beautiful and interesting art. They have a very impressive variety including Renaissance paintings, model ships and First Nations Art. I usually end up spending around two hours when I visit. …

Fawn Big Canoe

Always a nice visit to the AGO. A little more space would be nice for the special exhibits. People still crowd, even during a pandemic.

Matthew Simser

one of the best places to go see art if you want that feeling of being lost in a crowd, very movie-like. kinda convenient that there’s a few great bars nearby too, nothing fixes sore eyeballs like getting wasted! personally, i recommend the Sin & Retribution bar on McCaul.

Ben Lichty

One of our favourite spots in the city. Wander the galleries and be invigorated, or inspired, or calmed, or challenged.

Edward Oh

Cool pictures and amazing paintings. Loved the Matthew Wong gallery.

Duwee Munglebunk

The A.G.O never fails to impress. Whatever your artistic fancy, pay them a visit. Their recent Guillermo Del Toro exhibition was an eye-opener into the mind of this great moving picture visionary.

Rachel Cree

Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the Warhol exhibit.

Kyuwon Lee

Such a fine quality, wide range of collection in a very friendly and comfortable setting. I only had three days for my very quick Toronto trip and this place was the most memorable one.

Melvin Chien

AGO ocassionally has exhibits that I am interested in. Admission is reasonably priced, but is hard to find discounts for. It is very well maintained and the staff are friendly.

Mckenzie Kos.

Lots of great artwork. The gallery didn't flow well, though. The main exhibit I went to flowed very well, but the main galleries did not. Maybe things were different because of COVID

Sarah

We came in for the Picasso blue period exhibit on a Saturday afternoon. The art was spectacular. It did feel pretty crowded even though the tickets were timed.

andrew pierce

Its good provincial art gallery. If your in town check it out. Free from 6 to 9 Wensdays.

Bianca Dayrit

Wherever I go, I love going to museums and art galleries. This one in particular was actually ENORMOUS. I didn't get to catch any of the current exhibitions as the slots were sold out but just the main permanent exhibitions were enough for me to enjoy. Will come again if I visit Toronto again!

Jamie Pink

Love the Andy Warhol exibuyion!

Christin Gomes

A magnificent place with artistic inspiration. You can learn so much about art in here and also, amazing place for instagram pictures ????

Elaine Lewis

Love spending time here and checking out the different art displays and installations.

ECU Bill

It is like a big maze inside the building. You can always see something different after switching to the next corner. The horror one was fantastic.

Ali Bhagat

Went to the Guillermo del Torro special exhibit. It was absolutely fantastic. As was the infinity mirrors exhibit. Don’t miss the view from the 5th floor.

Aimee Chea

I love the AGO! I’ve been to a couple of exhibits and all of them have been very cool and interesting. Most recently, I’ve been to the Picasso exhibition. I loved it. The only thing was that it was a bit crowded for my taste for a museum. I also went on a Friday morning so I would recommend checking out the exhibits on a less busy day if you like to leisurely walk around the exhibit. Although it was a bit crowded, I still enjoyed the art.

Bruno Dirksen Orlandi

Excellent display of Canadian art. There are multiple pieces in exposition, but the Canadian section is the one that caught my attention. It is a great place to hang out, either by yourself, or with family and friends. There is free entrance on Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm. The location is also great, close to the subway and there are street cars. It is not the best place to go by car if you don’t want to pay for parking.

Parmis Meshgi

Loved the experience! Went for the Andy Warhol exhibition but the size and the number of art pieces in this place was quite overwhelming !

Jason Fung

This is a wonderful art gallery. The membership is worth it and depending on the level, you could qualify for reciprocity to MANY art galleries across North America. That's right, it includes many US art galleries too. One trip to New York, and you have paid access to the Guggenheim, and a handful of other galleries within walking distance. In terms of the AGO itself, the rotating exhibits are always well curated. The permanent exhibits are good too and the must see is the Henry Moore gallery (kind of the only gallery of it's kind in the world). The model ships in the basement are great for kids (and there's a whole story to that too). Also, make sure to see the second floor "Galleria Italia" - it's a curved wood promenade on the second floor facing Dundas. There are also some new augmented reality things, so make sure you have a full battery charge on your phone. Pack a pair of headphones too, as you can use their app for audio commentary (rather than use their equipment hanging off your neck on a lanyard). Enjoy your visit, then walk to Baldwin street afterwards for some great food options.

Shannon Staszak

I may be biased since I love art museums but visiting the AGO was an afternoon well spent. The architecture was unique, I couldn't get enough of the art, and especially enjoyed seeing and voting for the art contest on the top floor. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Toronto.

leila salarpour

I loved this museum. A really good mixture of different styles both in paintings and sculptures. If I lived in Toronto I would definitely become a member.

Karyn

Give yourself a day, it still won't be enough. We did the contemporary session with some highlights being Emily Carr and group of seven. They also have African masks, European renaissance works. Don't skip the first floor section of prayer beads and miniature carvings, this intricate work is mind-blowing

Dex Wood

The #AGO, is one of my favourite places in the #6ix. There, I'm able to immerse myself in beauty and peace as I listen to music via my headset.

marija milic

Love the new exhibits that come. Great to check out with the family or date or just go on your own!

Luis Barinas Giudicelli

Awesome. You can buy a yearly pass for 35 dollars and it allows you entrance for all the special exhibitions

Raian Zaman

If you are under 25, you can get in for free! Remember, you have to book the tickets online prior to your visit. The staff were super friendly, and there were so many themes to discover. Let alone the cool architecture of the gallery. Personally, I don't have much interest in art, but I still enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Perfect place to go out with your friends.

Cara

Attended a gala and can't get over how beautiful of an event space this was. The beef at dinner melted in your mouth!

naka

Came here just for the Yayoi infinity mirror room and loved every second (60 to be exact) of it. They only allow you to stay in there for 1 minute to keep the lines short but it wasn’t busy when I went so we had some extra time. The rest of the museum is like a maze of fantastic exhibits. I especially loved the contributions from Native artists. You can interact with BTS videos on a lot of the works which is super insightful. TIP: Download the AGO’s app to take yourself on your own guided tour.

Larissa Lio

The AGO is a great place to stop at in Toronto. Saw the current Andy Warhol exhibit -really excited because the have some of his 15 mins of fame video on dismay. The gallery was packed with people but they were able to maintain directional flow the best that they could.

Amy F

I always love the AGO every time I go; I enjoy it. Well worth the money!! There was a super excellent exhibit on Andy Warhol this time too.

Simeon “SimmSimer” Charles

A lot of art. Beautiful things and enough for everyone to enjoy.

Geramie O'Shea

Comprehensive and excellent Andy Warhol show. History abounds. Kent Monkman works also excellent in the classical sense, such mastery.

Shirin Montebare

YAYOI KUSAMA: INFINITY MIRRORS was one of the greatest pop up exhibition that I ever been into and thanks to AGO that happened for a lot of people. Cant wait for their future exhibitions.

Daria Zakharchenko

Had a great time at the AGO. Very interesting showpieces, especially Kusama exhibition!

Okan A. Altug

Picasso was great. Congratulations. Warhol was fantastic and well curated. Congratulations. Thank you to AGO. Society is hungry for art because. Pls go on we expect more as Torontonians.

Rhonda Grace

My daughter surprised me with tickets to the Andy Warhol exhibit. We had a fabulous time. What a perfect day we had. The building is incredible. The staff is professional. The exhibit is fascinating.

Yvette Barnes

Excellent, diverse and inclusive exhibits at AGO. Well done!

Hope Lai

Picasso blue is so much educational. Very well present

Carlos Fentanes

Very well organized for covid protocols. You have to buy tickets in advance but also wait in line but it advance fast.

Saad Qasim

Always a pleasure to visit the AGO, one of the finest art museums in Canada. There ongoing exhibits on First Nations artists and their interpretations of colonial injustice and cultural oppression are thought provoking and insightful.

Gary X

A beautiful museum, silence, kindness, people here polite to everyone. For these days you have to book tickets online before you go there, if you are not in Toronto, that's better for you left one more hour at least for the route, traffic jam so hard sometimes. We got there nearly 10 minutes late, but thank God we got in finally. No one hard to you, they're so kind. You just show your electric barcodes on your phone to the scanner, and you are all set. Enjoy the Illusions show, Fu Man Chuck has a new appearance, and evil as usual, funny but true.

Maleha J

I went there for my 12th year job anniversary... best gift to myself. Paintings were amazing!! Loved every bit of it.. their bistro Cafe was amazing as well.. trout and Mac cheese so delicious

Colin Middleton

Went there for the Picasso exhibit. Realized that I'm not all that chuffed with his work, but that's just me. Others were ecstatic! We spent hours viewing the rest of the AGO, or as much as we could in the time available. I love the AGO and its always changing. If you haven't gone yet, go. What else do you have to do? Some covid restrictions are in place and appointments and masking are mandatory but things are loosening up a bit. Overall, just a great day, well spent.

Elena Wright

As much as the AGO is a proud showpiece of which all Torontonians should be proud, it is even more of a treat for we 905ers when we come in to see exhibits. And this Guillermo del Toro presentation was absolutely mind-blowing for those of us who love film and are fans of Guillermo del Toro (although I was not too enamored with 2015's CRIMSON PEAK). See this before it leaves on January 7th!!!!!!!

Angela

I’ve visited the AGO since I was a child and it holds a special place in my heart. The architecture is something else - perfectly reflects the beautiful art inside. Gift shop is full of great items and each temporary exhibit always has an excellent mini gift shop as well. Great variety of art and always has interesting exhibits. Always clean and people are respectful. Unfortunately I haven’t gone since Early Rubens back in 2019 but I look forward to going again whenever possible.

Angela

My favorite museum! Always some fantastic new exhibit and a wonderful permanent collection. A must see and to visit regularly.

Novjean Kannathara

Absolutely love this art gallery and there is possibly no way to see the plethora of art that is present at this place. The countless intriguing paintings, the small and large art models and antiques, the floor of contemporary art, the staircase to go up which is also an art form. The annual pass is absolutely worth it as there are art exhibitions that keep happening. They also have a small cafe which serves a good coffee, as one will definitely need the break after opening up the mind to all the art they have to offer.

Andrea Andrea

Beautiful and calm place. Loved the paintings so much.Wednesday is free from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm,but ticket must be purchased earlier online from their site.

Andrew Xiao

Thank you to the AGO for providing an annual membership for front line workers this year. That was much appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed the Illusions temporary exhibit. Very well curated and so interesting to learn about the golden era of magic, the famous magicians and their back stories.

Teny Shaji

AGO was a great place to be. Especially the Andy Warhol exhibit is a must see. The staff was great!

Vanessa Brown

Amazing, huge Andy Warhol exhibition plus an absolute delight, 'Death is Elsewhere' by Ragnar Kjartansson, a mesmerising video installation which I could have lost myself in for days. Excellent space.

James Cowan

Was a great way to spend a few hours. Nice mix surely has something to please anyone. The ReBlink was a nice touch also.

Richard Harlow

Good gallery architecture from the outside is amazing and I like how it complements the art inside. I love the gift shops aren’t socks

Established in 1900 as the Art Museum of Toronto, and formally incorporated in 1903. It was renamed to the Art Gallery of Toronto in 1919, before it adopted its present name, the Art Gallery of Ontario, in 1966. The museum acquired the Grange in 1911 and later undertook several expansions to the north and west of the structure. The first series of expansions occurred in 1918, 1924, and 1935, designed by Darling and Pearson. Since 1974, the gallery has undergone four major expansions and renovations. These expansions occurred in 1974 and 1977 by John C. Parkin, and 1993 by Barton Myers and KPMB Architects. From 2004 to 2008, the museum underwent another expansion by Frank Gehry. The museum complex saw further renovations in the 2010s by KPMB, and Hariri Pontarini Architects. The museum's permanent collection includes over 98,000 works spanning the first century to the present day. The museum collection includes a number works from Canadian, First Nations, Inuit, African, European, and Oceanic artists. In addition to exhibits for its collection, the museum has organized and hosted a number of travelling art exhibitions.

Molly Grace

So amazing!!!!! The paintings are exquisite. Just beautiful. And incredible way to spend part of your day in Toronto.

Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun (bibilamour04)

I really enjoyed this gallery. I got the year pass for 25 and under pretty easy at check out. If you want to see the infinity mirror, make sure you go before 2pm on Saturday. It gets booked pretty quick.

Halli Berry

Really great Andy Warhol exhibit. Cool to get some history lessons through art.

Carey Zesiger

Wonderful gallery space, especially sculpture collections and the airy spaces full of natural light.

Tom Skublics

Very nice visit. Don't personally like Andy Warhol so didn't do that. Enjoyed group of 7 works. Good organization for Covid distancing

JJ Galavants

LOVED it!! Definitely a place to spend a few hours.

Amanda B

Lovely place as always. The timed entrance to the Picasso exhibit was kinda of a joke. There was a giant crowd smooshed in each room which was super stressed. Otherwise, had a great visit.

Chelsey Cunningham

Love this place so much. Wish I lived a bit closer so I could go all the time. Like that they have lovely gift shop and Cafe. Definitely worth checking out if you're visiting Toronto

Jared Zanewich

The entire gallery amazed me but the Ivory carvings were unbelievably awesome.

Tammy Anthonipillai

The are gallery is nice. Make sure you go when your artist's work are in display only. Otherwise, it can be confusing. Not many staff there to direct you. The ROM is much, much better. Especially, if you are bringing kids with you.

Irene Giesbrecht

They have always great feature exhibits - the one currently on there is amazing and is called anthropocene. It showcases photos (murals of 100 of photos of the same view stitched together for incredible sharp and detailed pictures) of human impact on our environment.

Alfred Chang

Must visit in Toronto. If you only have time for one attraction, this is it.

Stebs

This is quite possibly one of the best museums I've ever been to the world. The collection is so very expansive and stunning. The building itself is very well designed and easy to get around... Just give yourself a lot of time to see the whole place. So much to see and worth spending time in every corner. I also love it's location in the city. So much art (beautiful graffiti) in this part of the city and so many nice parks to walk around it. I can't wait to go back.

Anthony Poto

The Andy Warhol exhibit was so well presented. Enjoyed it immensely!

Daniela V

The art gallery is beautiful but I think they have to put in every floor a map to know all the rooms and not miss it. At the beginning I felt lost, I didnt know where to go to

Simon Burns

Posting the most cliche photos of all time here, but...worth it! Love the tours - every hour, really got something out of it and would recommend it over just casually exploring. The cafe is a little disappointing, few seats and few plugs. Also, not many snack options, would like to see 2-3X more pastries/tiny bite options. Would have stayed and lounged/chatted in that cafe far longer had it been a little more full-service. Would be great if the shared membership systems were automated too, I’m an SFMOMA member and would have been great to be able to just scan my information my without going through the line.

Ryan Labrie

Wednesdays right now have free admission. So we signed up online and it made for a great date night. I got lost in the exhibits and had a splendid time. They have a good mix of sculptures, paintings and electronic art. Definitely a must when looking for a refined outting in Toronto.

Angy Schoonderbeek

It was a little busy for this time of year and during the day, but it was still a wonderful experience and the Warhol exhibit was excellent. Very thought out and put together well, I look forward to my next visit.

Roselyn Chang

For all of your 25 and under, go and get your free annual pass ASAP! It's a promo going on at the AGO for the next few months. There are a lot of really cool exhibits to see! Of course, the Yayoi Kusama, which is a permanent exhibit was one of the highlights for my friend and I. @roamwithros

Jelayna Da Silva

This is one of my favourite places in the city. Usually beautifully and logically curated, the exhibits are almost always pertinent to the times and yet respectful of history. Easy to get to via transit. A great place to come by yourself, with a friend or with family. Put the GO in AGO and show up!!

S. Wilson

Always nice to visit. A lot of diversified exhibitions and the architecture is very beautiful. Love this museum!

Steve Farnworth

Nice open ambiance. Lots of interesting paintings, photos and statues for all tastes.

Jason N

Always a pleasure to visit when I’m in Toronto. Friendly, generous, and helpful staff. Can’t recommend enough

Dimitria Papadatos

Oh I love it ! I go here often and see the special exhibits as well. It’s beautiful, love the gift shop and restaurant. It’s an artists dream to visit

Rebecca C

It was so nice! I loved how quiet it is and the art was amazing! You get to learn so much from Canadian artists

sen chu

AGO offers daily guides tours, which is so informative and interesting. There is a small cafe upstairs. They have good coffee. The tix now is CAD 25 for adults over 25, but you can get an annual pass for 35 dollars. Under 25 is for free.

Richard Lin

Regular new special exhibitions and new price in 2019 makes it more affordable

Rami Al Halabi

Loved this place as a whole. The displays are amazing and the different artists and painting styles instilled different feeling and reflections in me as a viewer. The cafe was also great with amazing wooden decor above. I bought the yearly membership to it and I think I will be using it often.

Bridget Renwick

A wonderful art gallery that didn't seem to end. I loved the variety and especially the letters and photos from those lost to the war. I would also love to thank the staff for being very kind and thoughtful when thought I lost my (very special) necklace there. They were very comforting and did everything in their capacity to help. If you are visiting, please check out this Art Gallery! The walk from the central of Toronto to the gallery goes through Chinatown so it is a nice walk.

Michelle Marie

A cool way to spend a weekday evening

Madeline

Incredible pieces spanning a stunning and vast geo-temporal plane. A lovely collection of Canadian art as well as works from abroad. Well curated. Includes free life drawing in the main entrance. Would love to see some more interactive aspects to the viewing experience. However, one can spend hours at the gallery without seeing it all.

R. Ang

People are amazed to find out the AGO is open during Covid. Let me reassure you that the staff at AGO and safety procedures are well organized and it's one of the most safest and enjoyable places to go during covid. How it works from start to finish, order your tickets online even if your member. You will get a blocked time to enter and will be spaced out and go through a thorough screening. Once you are in you can stay stay, they just stagger entry. If you go early you will really get to enjoy it. I love the AGO ????❤️

Cordell Brathwaite

The mirror room exhibit is a very interesting experience, timed at 60 seconds and requiring a reservation... its. not to be missed, lots of interesting art but unfortunately not as many large exhibits as I'd have liked.

Nicole Shapiro

A little sad that the Warhol exhibit wasn’t part of our tickets, but overall fantastic GA exhibit. Lots of beautiful native pieces. Definitely recommend making sure you go for more than an hour, there’s so much to see.

Sierra Codeluppi

Love the one off exhibits and its great for a quick visit! Andy Warhol was amazing to see but lately the whole museum seems pretty empty

Willians Herrada Sanchez

Awesome place. Friendly staff and a very nice collection of art pieces!

Robert

It is a good place to empty the mind but some of the lights aren't really well for presenting those arts.

Samuel Ng

After I visited London, Paris (Louvre), Prague, I loved this art gallery as the indigenous art is certainly something I have never seen before. And it’s never inferior! And they’re refreshing for it’s completely new perspective. And I bought an indigenous T shirt with a wolf design!

Andreas Lerch

The AGO was nice, they now have free memberships for 25 and under which is awesome. We spent 3 hours here and didn’t see everything. The exhibits also change frequently. They offer a nice gift shop as well. It can get very busy here on Wednesday. Worth checking out and spending a day exploring

Joshua S

Great experience and something to do. Under 25 get in free which is awesome. Could use some better direction and maps though!

Kimberley Moran

Andy Warhol visit was exquisite. Always have an amazing time here and they’re currently offering free tickets to frontline workers.

Kimberley Moran

Andy Warhol visit was exquisite. Always have an amazing time here and they’re currently offering free tickets to frontline workers.

Sophie

Love the AGO! We spent 2 hours here and didn’t even see the whole art gallery!

Kate Wang

I come here quite often and always enjoy it. So glad there's currently a Andy Warhol exhibit! I also really like Lisa Reihana: In Pursuit of Venus so I would definitely recommend taking out an hour to view that and the infinity mirrored room (temporarily closed).

Kelvin T

Great exhibition of Andy Warhol! $25 for one and $35 for an Annual Pass.

Cristal Bittencourt

I've recently decided to buy the anual pass and it is so worth it. Although you don't get any discounts at the store, you still get to go to the AGO as many times as you want in a year.

Elhgyne A.

Definitely a must see. The place isn't too big but enough to keep you busy for hours. Well layed out, you'll see something else in every corner. My husband and kids enjoyed our time and we will absolutely come back!

Sarah Green

Excellent place! Loved the reblink series. So many things to see we couldn't even get through half in our visit. It was free on Wednesday night, so definitely watch for those kinds of events.

Amin Aghaee

A wonderful place to visit. You can have a great experience here and see many different artworks from different artists and diverse culture.

Cosmo

A classic way to spend the day. New exhibitions such as the Andy Warhol exhibit keeps things fresh, and there’re an abundance of amazing collections from around the world. The European collection in particular has some amazing craftsmanship items that are worth looking at. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall, with the free annual membership for 14-25 year olds, why wouldn’t you spend a day at the gallery?

Endoxist

Got to experience the famous infinity mirrors exhibit and was so pleased with the setup and decorum of the staff and the space. Very well thought out, calm, and generally enjoyable art experiment. Will definitely be returning to the AGO! Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Brady Adams

Their annual pass is free for 25 and under which made my visit all the better! You can't beat a world-class art museum experience that's completely free. I was able to register online for this pass. The Andy Warhol show was impressive. There was no wait time for me to get in on a weekday afternoon. I learned a lot about modern Canadian artists during my visit there and definitely plan on returning in the future!

Andy Fabo

The AGO is so much more responsive to the community than it was a decade ago. The diversity of Toronto is reflected in its programming. I'm really looking forward to the Robert Houle show in the late fall. I appreciate how the AGO rotates its permanent collection more now, so it's ever-changing for frequent visitors. The spotlights on important local artists like Bonnie Devine, Sandra Brewster & Rita Letendre are much more frequent now and give visitors a stronger sense of Toronto's art scene. Lastly, the current Warhol show is excellent. I've seen a lot of Warhol over the decades & this show gave me new insights into his art.

Cecilia Mok

such a beautiful space with great pieces and exhibits. staff are super friendly and considerate, and they truly just want people to enjoy the space and artwork!

Sahil Saini

Nice place. Good art gallery

Daniel Nahmias

I don't love museum's, but this one you've got to love! I'll start with the FREE entrance Wednesday! (From 18:00-21:00) . The architecture of the building is just amazing, from the inside out. It just gives you na other amazing element to look at and to admire through the whole visit. On the lower level there is a amazing exhibition of boats. It's just fantastic! Evey kid will love it! .and the Canadian indigenous art is just out of this world. To top it all off, it's just near China Town, so you can go and eat amazing things just a minute walk away. To conclude, just go!

Rocio Lizarraga

First time visiting. Plan to stay a minimum of three hours. Great exhibits. Gift shop has a a great selection of souvenirs.

Smári R Teitsson

It has some classics like Dutch 17th century, and 19th century impressionism to give a couple of examples, also artists like Krieghoff, who depicts the everyday lives and struggles of Canadians in the 19th century. Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Degas are only some of the painters with a presence in AGO. There is also some newer artwork, some of which is a bit strange, we can perhaps call it artsy. I found the museum slightly tricky to navigate, even with a map.

Helen B

They have a free admission on Wednesday after 6 pm to 9pm. Great option for entry level art lover for tryouts.

farzod darzi

Amazing collection of classic and contemporary art. The admission is free on Wednesdays 6-9.

Victor Wang

Amazing museum that should not be missed whether you’re a local or a tourist. Any lover of art and museums will throughly enjoy every aspect of this museum with slivers of art from every century and quite a few unique contemporary art pieces. My favorite piece is the mirror room filled with shiny silver balls with a mirror finish. Make sure to “reserve” a spot in line in the main lobby. Located close to downtown and easy to access using public transportation.

Jeremy Pan

Yayoi Kusama's exhibition has very strict rules about people and time, so don't focus on taking photos but enjoy yourself.

Brandon Williams

I went on one of the free nights which are held on Wednesday’s between 6-9. We got there early so we were in line before a lot of people, but it did get crowded very quickly. But that just goes to show how many amazing pieces of artwork there were in this building. So glad to have the opportunity to go to this wonderful art museum!

Andrew McCutcheon

Tha AGO is always a great place to visit. The staff are always great. The tours are very informative and if you do tours with different guides you will always have a different experience. We love it so much we bought our annual membership today.

Calin Alexander

Amazing place to go for a lovely afternoon or a nice date. The gift shop is great for birthday gift ideas. Their special exhibits and art is always better than expected, I love going here as much as I can. The Google local guides event was recently hosted here and their public rooms are also very nice!

Madhusudan Sikri

Excellent display of some truly great works of art. Sculptures by Rodin and Henry Moore among others, a complete section on indigenous artists, contemporary art work, European masters, and multimedia presentations. Further, each section has ample seating strategically placed to rest one's tired legs and also to sit and admire the displays.

Emily Michelle Fata

I’ve been visiting the AGO for years, ever since I was a child. Whether it’s seeing new installations or featured, limited-time specials or revisiting old favourites that are permanently open to the public, it’s one of those places that just feel like home to me. Throughout university, I would visit here once every week or two, thanks to their free program for people under 25.

Destoota Brethour

Came here with my 13 yr old artist and we had a blast. There is so much to see. The yearly membership is very reasonably priced and we will enjoy making use of it.

Tristram Lett

I love enjoying this fabulous museum of art. There is something to delight everyone. We attended the Impressionism in the Age of Machinery. Hugely informative and interesting with plenty of excellent exhibits. Pictured below are works from the latest exhibition. Early Rubens, which was magnificent.

Jaise

Beautiful and calm place. Loved the paintings so much.Wednesday is free from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm,but ticket must be purchased earlier online from their site.

Dan Boylan

I have to return - many times. Not enough time to take it all in. Fantastic exhibits!

Chyann Garrick

I've been going to the AGO since I was a kid. It's one of those places you can visit over and over and have new experiences everytime. Today I was there for a seminar on How To Make a Pitch. It was a great experience as per usual and my cookie from the bistro was delicious!

Jason Oermann

A beautiful building with a great art collection. This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. There are works from Europe/Africa but also an extensive collection of Canadian art.

Hassan Mahmood

The collection is surprisingly vast and distinguished - I was beyond impressed. Whether you want to see works by some of the more renowned artists from history - from Van Gogh to Picasso to Rembrandt to Rodin - or be your interest in contemporary art (or anything else in between), the Art Gallery of Ontario has something for you. I am most certainly going to be returning. I've shared some great photographs.

Jeff R

Had a great time here. I'm no art afficianado, but was lucky enough to encounter a super friendly guide on a quiet day who gave me and my wife a personal tour.

Luke Zieske

Great exhibits. A little too crowded for me.

Christophe MERLIER

I like museum. AGO is one of kind. The exhibition are always well explained and we can take the time to enjoy all of it. I love to see the group of seven. Also, unique piece of arts that we can't see anywhere else. Spending a day at AGO is like stopping the time. We always leave transformed, like if time flies in another dimension. The pass is inexpensive so we go very often. You will love it

Lene Skov

I really loved the AGO. Fantastic museum. A very impressive collection of contemporary, which I would say I am not used to being from Europe. We were also very lucky to get a chance to see Brian Jungen. Wednesday evening is free admission. We went with three teens and they had fun too.

Janet “nevereatwong” Wong

Visited the AGO for the very first time. The purpose of the visit is to see the Anthropocene exhibit. It was a very good experience especially it is a new way to see art in VR.

Giovanna Chavez

State of the art gallery, with excellent curated exhibits and a beautiful store. Beautiful spaces that also host private events. Close to many amenities like a large playground, shopping, dining and entertainment. Several parking grounds nearby and on street.

Smitha Muralidharan

I really recommend this to whoever is interested in art and history. One thing which was kind of a bummer was the no of people allowed in a slot to watch the Picasso. There were so many people that I could not taken in the art properly ad everyone were around me talking loudly and crowding the same painting ...

Richard Makin

Awesome gallery. Entrance is rather pricey but worth it. Guillermo Del Toro exhibition is a must see.

Alexander Ivanov

Wendy Warhol's exhibition was bigger and more interesting than I expected. I know that AGO isn't a competitor for the best galleries even in North America; but still I wish I had more time to see what's presented there

A Shan

Excellent collection, architecture of the gallery, and classes. My membership has been worth every penny.

Bartosz Scheller

The Paul Ruebens exhibit was fantastic. The AGO has a rich collection of Canadian and First Nations Artists. A lot of people and the Gallery is quite warm, so bring water and make sure to layer. Use the cloak room if you game.

Stefanie Morrissey

Visited for the Warhol exhibit. Amazing collection of work procured, much of it I had never seen before.

JOON Noel Park

The gallery advised to buy a ticket online in advance but you can buy a ticket on site. And the entering process is operated with uncontacting, so it's more even convenient. And the souvenir shop is open but restaurant is closed.

dhanaji sawant

Good place to visit. They have different type of collection. If you like artists work good place to visit.

Misha Sobakar

reason great ! the sweet bonus was the free access if u under 25. One time isn’t enough for sure

Anabessy Quintanilla

Always such beautiful expression of art! One of the best art galleries in this city for miles. Never an underwhelming experience! Always food for the soul.

Heather McLean

Always a great time at the AGO. They’re doing an excellent job managing covid-19 for safety. We loved seeing the Warhol exhibit but there are always so many options of amazing artwork to appreciate in a quiet chill atmosphere.

Sam Arthurs

I have an annual membership as a result of my love of the AGO. Once is simply not enough. Inspiring and educational

Ryan Chiu

10/10 would go again. Feel the gravity of how much pain and trauma the First Nations have gone through and how their art, already so powerful in expressing that hurt, is still nothing and absolutely inadequate for helping people truly realize the stories that are there.

Emily Lu

The Gallery is free on Wednesday after six pm, and we got lucky because were were in Toronto only for a week. The gallery is huge, and we were in time for Del Toro's special exhibition. Very well curated, although a surplus of I think $12 was required at the entrance of this exhibition, it was well worth it!

Svea Poulsen (Sveava)

Incredible building and lovely curated exhibits. Could spend days there! Only problem was it took a long time just to buy a ticket so I would recommend buying it online before hand. Also if you are indigenous you get in for free!

AngelFire Angel

Always been a huge fan of The Art Gallery of Ontario ever since I was lil...Been there when they Had the Van Gogh Exibit and for many other exibits over the years & any true lover of art such as myself among many others will tell you this 1 of the best art galleries to goto among others...You wnt be disappointed...I wld highly recommend it to anyone whether you live here or are from out of town....Must see for any art lover????????‍????????‍????

Necati Engin

It was very memorable exposition of Andy Warhol. I like it.

Charo Salemi

This is a grate place to meet the arts. Nice collections and variety. Good service. Amazing espresso caffe with a grate panoramic view of Dundas street.

Iris Xie

The most. Amazing. Comforting. Inspirational. Hub of culture and beauty in Toronto. I've visited this Gallery 5 times in the past month to show friends the amazing works of art and spaces created here, or just to relax as a individual art enthusiast. Most of the museum guides are amazing and animated, super knowledgable on all the art pieces. My personal favorite sections of the AGO are the Henry Moore Sculpture Center, featuring many of the original plaster versions of thought-provoking and gorgeous reclining figures as well as unique gravity defying shapes. This space is brilliantly lighted and designed and feels as if you've been transported into a universe where beauty is everywhere if you take a peek behind each curtain. Their new Yayoi Kusama exhibit: the Infinity Mirros is truly a spectacle. Though the room is awe-inspiring, the limited 1-minute time span each group of four is allowed to spend in there is slightly disappointing. No time to really appreciate the detail and messages of the artist, most people use those 60 seconds to take as many photos as they can. Another favourite space is the spiralling internal staircase (do not be confused, there are two, the one I'm talking about is the one you are faced first entering the open center of the Gallery). It is truly an art piece within itself. The contemporary sections on the fourth and fifth floors are also extraordinary. The integration of modern media and film formats really paints an almost surreal picture of the world we see around us, reimagined in ways that ordinary people don't take the time to look at. Near the north side of the gallery are also rooms of more contemporary, photography, and interactive art which is incredible. So many things to see and reflect on, I'll never get old of this place!

Ransi M

Particularly enjoyed the Henry Miller exhibit.

lily liang

Convenience access to the parking location, my family went here by TTC, the closest TTC station is St. Patrick. My kids and I enjoy the time in Gallery. Thanks for keep opening during Pandemic time! But keep in mind, due to pandemic time, a lot of exhibitions have to be cancelled, hope will able to see more next year.

RGSOUNDF

Let us put it this way: even if the AGO didn't possess very good collections, with some of the works being unquestionable masterpieces of art, one shall still find time to stop by the Gallery to admire the breathtaking architectural design by our contemporary genius Frank Gehry, as well as some of the outstanding design elements inside the Gallery (for example, the awesome Allan Slaight + Emmanuelle Gattuso Staircase in the the Walker Court/Level 1 to Level 5). As far as recommendations to prospective visitors, it all depends on your main areas of interest. The Gallery features such unique collections as Henry Moore Sculpture Court, Indigenous Art of First Nations, African Art, Contemporary Art, and Canadian Art. We, however, were mostly interested in the European art, and the Gallery's permanent exposition offers excellent works by Rembrandt, Canaletto, James Tissot, Degas, Rodin, Pissarro, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne, Gustave Caillebotte, and Sisley, among others. The exhibiton IMPRESSIONISM IN THE AGE OF INDUSTRY: MONET, PISSARRO AND MORE (closing today, May 5th) was a great even in the cultural life not only of Toronto, but the entire world of art. Please refer to our pictures to get a glimpse into the sheer scale of the artists represented and the topics showcased. An audio guide is more than recommended. Please allocate at least 2 to 3 hours, even to cover a specific area of your most favorite art period.

Ashlea J. Russell

I was very impressed with this museum! I visited here to view the Guillermo del Toro exhibit which was fantastic. The AGO is great because they include access to the galleries in your exhibit ticket, unlike the ROM which charges you extra. I found this museum to be excellent value. They have a great collection of Canadian art including the Group of Seven. They also have some Picasso, Degas, Monet, and Van Gogh works as well as some very cool early photography. Definitely recommend!

Kally Zwolak

The AGO has a wonderful variety of art exhibits and installations. This visit I made sure to see this exhibit. See photos

chris stoodley

such a beautiful space with great pieces and exhibits. staff are super friendly and considerate, and they truly just want people to enjoy the space and artwork!

Hazard Lee

Art Gallery of Ontario - The Art Gallery is amazing. All teens and students are free to get in. Adult admission fee is $25 or you can get an annual admission pass for $35. Great art works in the gallery. Highly recommend.

Melwin J

Beautiful experience! There is so much art this place has to offer which will make you realize so much about Canadian art and culture!!

Monika Joslin

AGO is incredible! So much to see and do, for all ages. There's always a special exhibition happening and the permanent collection is fantastic. There's a cafe for a quick bite and AGO Bistro restaurant (designed by Frank Gehry) for a full meal. And we never leave before visiting the gift shop which has so many beautiful things! Great place to visit for the whole family!

Kia Stanford

Wonderful museum. There is a beautiful mix of art at this gallery. You can immerse yourself for an entire day here.

Jim and Linda Foley

Went to see the Picasso blue period exhibit. An excellent exhibit on its own but there is so much more to see while there. You will need to book a timed ticket for entrance to the exhibit and the gallery even if you are an annual passholder or member.

Manav Ranpura

Great art exhibition loved it went there and time went super fast I booked a 4:30 slot and didn’t know they close at 5:30 on Weekends. I wish I had more time to explore all the art and exhibition but I will be back to learn more and listen to all the online audio files explaining the history and facts of the various art pieces and paintings.

Alex Clapp

Wonderful art gallery. Great design, excellent selection of arts from different periods and different styles. Under 25yo free, and Wednesday nights free entry for all! They even had a free to use life drawing session set up in the main lobby with a live model - props and 20 easels. Fantastic gallery, and I highly recommend the current Yayoi Kusama's current experience exhibit

K K

All the pieces have informative descriptions. The gallery is well curated and the temporary exhibits are usually a big draw. Definitely get tickets in advance because of the limitations during the pandemic. …

Amber Webb

I had a wonderful time here! The exhibits were great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Elham Karam

The architecture of the gallery itself is amazing with plenty of interesting exhibits. Really appreciated the COVID-19 measures in place

K K

I love Ago. They designed everything perfectly. There is a gift shop, restaurant, cafe in the building. There is kids workshops so you kids don’t get bored or when they get tired there are places to sit and play for free. Price is reasonable, specially as a member. My to go place:)

Marena Shokri

Lots of cool paintings and art. Currently Picasso exhibit going on for an additional $25 to enter. My friend and I spent the afternoon there and it was fun and relaxing experience

Joris Peels

So it’s a bit weird as art museums go. You don’t really get to pick your billionaires, so the collection is a bit uneven. The randomness of it is a virtue as you will see things that you would not have sought out such as snuff boxes, model ships and the like. Some famous people clearly having an off day but also some very interesting Canadian art.

J B

Saw the Picasso exhibit - very interesting and well presented The blue period is when Picasso was at his creative peak. The curating and disconnected descriptions, made me feel like the exhibit was in reverse. Good and informative, but I spent as much time trying to understand the curating as I did appreciating the art.

Penelope G

Wonderful welcome on a recent visit, staff made vaccination checks a breeze and engaged with and entertained my toddlers when they really didn't have to - so kind and thoughtful. On that note, wonderful spot for children esp. when the winter outdoors are so forbidding. Oh and the exhibits are fabulous!

statictones

Such a cute place! Do I know much about art? No. Am I a fancy, sophisticated person who knows everything about the medieval, renaissance and contemporary eras? No. Did I understand anything each art piece was trying to portray? Minimally. Did I enjoy looking at them anyway? Yes ???? Also, you can take some pretty cool photos in this place.

John Lozinsky

Wonderful art gallery downtown with some pretty amazing pieces. You could get lost for days just admiring all the collections. Close to other attractions and a few blocks from St. Patrick subway station.

Google Guide

If you love art, this is the premier place to go in Toronto. They have an extensive collection of art on display (and many more important works in storage). Plan to stay for the day. Paid parking or easy access by transit/subway.

Brad Brown

Had a great time at the AGO. Some absolutely fantastic exhibits. The model ships are brilliant and Death is Elsewhere was breathtaking. Definitely a good spot to visit any time you are in TO.

Natalia Ourban

AGO is my favourite place to go in Toronto. I have been a member for several years and attended all the major Exhibitions. Gallery has a great "aura" and staff works hard to expose us to a better things in life. I recommend to take a guided tour to see Highlights of the collection, it is quite informative and led by the passionate guides. The Member's Lounge is a nice place to take a break or enjoy afternoon tea. I am a fan.

peachy zzang

The best place to see a painting exhibition in Toronto with a high level of exhibition

Veronika K

Visit on Wednesday night- it’s free . The line is long but goes by fast. The museum is good by North American standards . But I would not pay to go , if you have already visited many museums in Europe.

Jessica H

Very entertaining night at the AGO. Their rotating exhibits are awesome and very well setup and safe.

Samantha Loaiza

I hold a special place in my heart for this place. It’s architecture is art in its own right. Whether day or night, you’ll find yourself holding your breath. In the countless times I have been here I always find something new, a recondite corner I had overlooked, a portrait I dismissed, a temporary exhibition that brings exquisite pieces for a few weeks. AGO can turn a bad day around and improve a great one. It is more than art gallery, it is art.

Denis Samoylov

Having been to a number of art galleries around the world, I had high expectations set prior to my visit. I am delighted to say they have all been exceeded! The curation is on point: the division of displays is meaningful, new exhibitions are announced frequently, and there is plenty of diversity in art collection to be enjoyed by virtually everyone. The building itself is easy to orient, has nice loft spaces for snacking, plenty of benches and is quite compact for all the art it boasts. Also, unlike the ROM' floor plan, it allows for better space utilisation and overall makes touring more sensible. On top of that, AGO is probably the only big cultural institution in Toronto to provide its visitors with comprehensive material on Canadian history of arts, including both Indigenous and Anglophone, French legacies. Certainly worth visiting. Make sure to book the timed tickets in advance.

Sara Petrenko

I love the AGO. If I lived in Ontario, I would get a membership. It has a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, with beautiful permanent exhibits and interesting, conversation-worthy temporary exhibits. It makes a great multi-generational outing. I enjoy the atrium cafe, as it has a great view of Chinatown, and is in the fun glass ribcage, but wish it was better stocked with snacks, and had a few more tables. I am excited to experience the children's programming in a couple of years!

Gregory Swift

Beautifully designed building, never over crowded due to good management at the desks. Gift shop is ace, providing a broad range, especially in regards to books ???? …

Amzad Hosein

Amazing art and interior building. Definitely need more than one trip to experience everything,. Wednesday's nights are free but can be a bit crowded. I personally wouldn't get one, but a year pass is only like $35 or something.

Paul Strangways

Just saw two superb exhibits - Warhol and Picasso. The presentation of the various works was very thoughtful and the labels were clear, without jargon, and yet did not speak down to the viewer. Great work AGO.

Imran Salahuddin

My daughter loves this place. This place has got some amazing art pieces and work from ancient times to modern era.

Akshay Patel

Wonderful and relaxing. Every New Artist takes your imagination to new heights. The staff gave me a one year membership for $10 extra and told me I overpayed . Once I purchased the Andy Warhal ticket the general admission was free for me to see all artists on display including my favorite, The Group of Seven. I want to see Picasso next and feel welcome with the friendly staff I recommend the one year membership and save$$$$$

Akshay Patel

Good museum! Very spacious and free as well if you meet some age requirements.

Simon Williams-Im

No other words than since launching the annual free and payed membership for different groups... Honestly the best ever. You pay it off in two visits and there are so many neat art pieces, new and old, to see over and over. Their commitment to First Nations artists is commendable, especially because placards are in the artist's language. One thing to note pandemic restrictions makes you get your tickets online with a specific time you'll be entering the gallery. On busy days they can be more strict on entry times.

Laura B

Thank you for allowing members to visit before it opened to the general public. I truly missed visiting. Thank you for the amazing organization you have done with indicating the maximum numbers of people allowed in each room/section and the directional arrow in the gift shop.

Vinsia Maharajah

So glad they have the free admission options on Wednesdays! All the general admission areas are incredible. I hope there’s even more diversity in the Canadian artists section in the future, but other than that lots of amazingly preserved pieces that are sure to inspire or impact you in some way.

Hana Imany

Great place for young people to visit, especially because it’s free for teens and children. Beautiful building with lots to see. Although the selection doesn’t change much and exhibits require payment. It’s not a must visit site if you’re visiting Toronto, but it’s a nice outing if you’re looking for something to do.

Salvtor

A gem in the city. Great place to spend time exploring. Worth getting a membership so you can enjoy the exhibits all year long. The last renovation elevated the status of the AGO, but some of the new spaces feel awkward or unused. Maybe it's still growing into its new skin.

Vatika Mohanty

Visited both the Warhol and Picasso exhibits. Both exhibits were made well and were informative. Unfortunately, there were a lot of people in parts of the Warhol exhibit at a given time, not sure if it was people staying longer than anticipated to read the explanations. Picasso had a long line to get in (even with the timed entrance) but due to this the distancing in the exhibit was better. Picasso had these lovely in-depth videos of how they have uncovered hidden images in the paintings. Overall, a good time and both exhibits had well curated pieces of artwork.

Leo Twin Flame

Who doesn't like art? This place has all the art you will enjoy witnessing.

Edel Ramirez

This is the beauty to walk cities like Toronto to find Galleries like this, by the time we visited Toronto they have it this special expo by Guillermo del Toro, wow spectacular

zen mos

Art is the only refuge to take in these hard days and every single day of life . .Picasso blue period and a collection of Mattew Wong's art were the two exhibits I recently visited and enjoyed

Porus V

I visit the AGO when I’m looking to spend a quiet afternoon learning about different artists and their work. Centrally located in downtown Toronto, it is a museum you must visit if you enjoy art and art history. You’ll get to experience a wide variety of works on display here from around the world. The museum also holds various exhibits by artists from time to time which are worth a visit. The architecture of the museum itself is beautiful. They have a well stocked gift shop with a wonderful collection of books and art prints for every age group and the AGO bistro is a great place to go unwind and grab some great food after a day at the museum. Now that they’re yearly pass is so cheap, it is totally worth getting a membership here if you live in Toronto and enjoy visiting museums!

Tharmila Rajasingam

Great exhibitions, check out their social or web before going in to see what's on. Parking around but can be limited depending on when you go. Most staff are approachable and knowledgeable of the space. Awesome place for hanging out, date or if you're out of town.

Josue Hernandez

Love this Gallery, curators made an excellent job bringing the best exhibits from artist all around the world. I totally recommend to become a member

Rev. Jessie Brandon

The building is beautiful however I was really disappointed with the particular artist I went to see I expected so much more. Fortunately there were other things to see and it ended up being a good visit

Neal Chauhan

Super beautiful inside, but nobody asked to see my vaccine passport, which I thought was a little strange. I feel like they should be checking that at the door

Larry T

Great attraction. We went with our kids. Thought they may be bored. But on the contrary. The kids enjoyed almost all of it. We will come back.

Will Parks

Saw the Warhol exhibit and the Canadian gallery on the second floor which included works by the Group of Seven. If you're going to a special exhibit, try to go on a weekday when it's less busy. I went on a Friday night and found I was dancing around people a little bit.

Iris Hung

Big space, featured exhibits are always well curated and of beloved artists, decently distanced for Covid protocol. Get the annual pass for free if your are 25 or under! Really inspiring and amazing experience every time I go.

Hayd M

The Art Gallery of Ontario was an interesting place to say the least. Although me and my good boy friend didn't have enough time to view all the exhibits, we visited a few notable exhibits from the Toronto Art Biennial. We saw an exhibit by Lisa Reihana, which was showed an animated aboriginal painting depicting their interactions with the English there. The other paintings were also quite interesting and I've attached some photos of the exhibits. Overall, would come again to look at it more exhibits next time with my boy friend Godwin <3

Eric Seidlitz

Picasso was great. Congratulations. Warhol was fantastic and well curated. Congratulations. Thank you to AGO. Society is hungry for art because. Pls go on we expect more as Torontonians.

Scott DeBaets

Comprehensive and excellent Andy Warhol show. History abounds. Kent Monkman works also excellent in the classical sense, such mastery.

Nick Dempers

Really nice art gallery/museum in Toronto. There is a fair collection of art and quite a nice collection of Canadian art. The highlights for me are the raised, wooden, covered walkway along the side of the building and the unusual construction of some of the walkways. There are a few Picasso and Rembrandt pieces. It is definitely worth a visit.

negar khalili

One of the must see places in Toronto. Besides the exhibitions and art galleries the building has amazing architecture.

Grant

Absolutely loved the Andy Warhol exhibit - AGO does a great job at creating experiences that help guide you through the life of an artist. Definitely recommend listening to the guided tour on Soundcloud (using QR codes throughout) - this isn't your usual multi-hour soundtrack. Instead, there are fun anecdotes that are 1-2 min each that add great colour to the collection.

Grant

Amazing art and interior building. Definitely need more than one trip to experience everything,. Wednesday's nights are free but can be a bit crowded. I personally wouldn't get one, but a year pass is only like $35 or something.

Valentin Mihut

While it has a limited number of new exhibits each year, AGO aims for quality over quantity! With a we'll curated and extremely diverse set of permanent and longer term exhibits, you should always plan for a full day here, to get the most of your visit.

Jacques Fortin

Very interesting place with lots of history and interesting art. I visited as audience to an event where they featured a local photographer Othello Grey his work is amazing and the event was well organized on time and flowed well. I will have to visit again to get the full AGO experience

Julia

I highly recommend signing up for their free annual pass if you qualify, as it includes the special exhibitions (i.e. Andy Warhol). SEPTEMBER 2021 COVID-19: You scan your pass about four times for special exhibits. I recommend screenshotting it to save data/wifi. The layout is a little confusing for newcomers or even people who haven't been in years like me because they don't have that many arrows guiding you to areas compared to other places during COVID-19. There are capacity limits for each section and the line time isn't bad, but be prepared to show your ticket ahead of time.

Naomi Eisenberg

Pop art isn't my thing. Poor wayfinding for this exhibit. Looking forward to Picasso

Cameron Robertson

An amazing selection of artworks and mediums. I was astonished by some of the historical pieces. We were not able to make it to the museum, but this satisfied my interest in seeing some ancient pieces. They had on a special exhibit that was amazing and the staff are friendly and we'll organized. Give yourself a whole day to explore as we had about 4 hours and maybe got through 75% of the galleries, and we were rushing to try and see it all! I recommend exploring the basement where they have all of the models boats from 17th century onwards, and the Christian themed collection, I am not religious in the least bit, but the detail put into these pieces was incredible.

Gnomze

I love the special exhibitions that they have at this art gallery! The latest being infinity mirrors, it was quite an experience. I was lucky enough to get one of the last few tickets left on the day of, and the two hour line up in the morning was worth it. Loved every minute of the experience!

Brian Martin

Great large art gallery with a good mix of modern, contemporary and classic art. Enjoy the special Warhol exhibit and the nice collection of Canadian art, particularly the large pieces by Kent Monkman.

Dianna

loved it! went for guillermo del toro's exhibit. all the employees were extremely helpful & nice. the bistro was amazing. they were accommodating & the food was pure perfection. this is one of the bigger art galleries I've been to & it did not disappoint. there is a lot to see here, and it's affordable. for gallery tickets & dinner was 65USD. not bad at all!

Jan Bush

What s wonderful art gallery. So much to see. I could have stayed longer than the 3 hours I allotted. Such a wide variety of art from ancient times to today’s avant-garde. It was all good. I also enjoyed their gift shop. Bought s few items for friends and fame — and myself.

Marcin Tandecki

The art here is great and ever changing. There's always something new to see. Besides being an art gallery it's also an amazing place to host an event complete with bar and really good food.

Andrea Andrea

Always love going to the AGO in Toronto. There’s always parking around on side streets (Green P). We really liked having to book a time slot/check in time. It really helped with the amount of people The AGO let’s in due to Covid protocols. We really enjoyed the Canadian Artists and History aspect of it all. Definitely something to do when visiting Toronto.

Holden McKenzie

Saw Picasso's "blue period" today. Good transitioning into the rose period. Along side were his inspirations for his work and their works. Went with my partner and my mom and they had a great time! Thank you AGO!

Paco Archi

Yes

Anna Warren

The gallery is doing a wonderful job managing the COVID precautions in all gallery, shop, and cafe. Felt quite safe.

Hope M. Pelufo

Beautiful gallery! It's a complete experience because it does have an amazing native Canadians collection, local artists of all periods, and some impressive European Renaissance collections in addition to a fabulous Moore sculptures park. The little espresso cafe has beautiful architecture and a view!! Will certainly buy the membership..

Omkar Dhulap

Excellent art gallery and a treat for Henry Moor fans. Free entry and guided tours on every Wednesday evening between 6 to 9. Free to click photos.

Jacob Diflorio

Very entertaining night at the AGO. Their rotating exhibits are awesome and very well setup and safe.

Link

Like, you can't get more aesthetic than this museum. I think it's good to go alone to see the art by yourself so you can take your time appreciating each one. Enjoy the space and lighting that you don't have in the city and your place unless you own a mansion. You can meditate while you walk, enough said.

Charmaine Pasadilla

The AGO has been a great place to view contemporary and classic art pieces. The team works endlessly to present exhibitions in the best way possible to ensure that guests have a pleasant experience. The permanent exhibit has plenty to see, and the structure of the floors allow for much exploration. I really appreciate the Indigenous language captions along with the English and French captions for some of the pieces in the permanent gallery. Go on Wednesday night to see it for free, but expect lots of people as it is a popular Wednesday night activity in Toronto. Make sure to keep up to date with the special exhibitions as they change seasonally! And sneak over to the stairs at the back of the AGO inbetween the 4th and 5th floors for a lovely view of the city of Toronto

Davor M

Currently hosting Guillermo del Toro's "At Home With Monsters" exhibit. This exhibit is super awesome. AGO is an amazing place for art collections, perfect for dates, street parking all around. Walk to Toronto's fashion / entertainment district as well as Toronto's very own Chinatown.

Chris Fuerth

The architecture itself is part of the experience. They also have the Infinity room there indefinitely (book a tube when you get there!). I was very impressed with the Lisa Reihana media installation, and as always, I love Novak Morrisseau. We went to see the Reubens exhibit - it was quite well done, though busy.

R

Time spent at the Ago inspires me to view the world from another person's perspective. It's like taking a trip into someone else's(the artist) mind. My last visit was mostly on the top 2 floors watching video art. Fascinating

Abby Chung

Chill vibe within the space. The annual pass is definitely worth it as their regular exhibitions are often educational in terms of learning arts and cultures, and can take some time to go through them.

Mathew Donovan

I’ve been a member here for 2.5 years. They do a great job curating for special exhibitions. Well organized and a great collection of their own.

Peter Tsui

Particularly enjoyed the Henry Miller exhibit.

joanna E

So the year pass is nearly the same price lol as a day pass. Might as well right! Anyway this place also has a drawing room for all old prints and you can sign them out for free! If you like to draw and your not part of a school or anything but just want to draw a remarkable piece of art go ahead. They also offer other programs to the public. :)

Brandon Lopez

Interesting place to view unique pieces of art. Personally I do not recommend the Andy Warhol exhibit, your better off spending the time admiring other exhibits.

J Travis

World class, truly. A brilliantly curated series of exhibitions, with a superb collection and a revolving "best of the best" new and old from around the world. A stunning venue with brilliant architecture and an exquisitely thoughtful layout. The staff are helpful but not intrusive and it is an extremely well-run institution. Not to be missed.

Sunita Pace

I took my niece's here for the first time over the March Break and loved the experience. I was amazed at how huge this place was and the variety of art and sculptures there was. The architecture of the building was great for displaying the pieces and as we moved through the different areas we felt a different experience with the changing room colours and lighting. Absolutely loves the large open space at the front top most floor with the cafe and sitting area. The view of the surrounding area was nice. My favourite was the display of model ships. The level of detail was incredible!!

Rosslyn Jacob Jacob

Excellent Warhol exhibit... inspiring visit as usual

Charlotte Jetté Lemay

Great museum that offers student pricing. We went on a Sunday and it was really crowded (the main expo only). The rest of the museum was easier to navigate since it wasn't as busy. 16,50$ for students. Beautiful expositions (les femmes noires was my favorite). The architecture of the bulding is great and so is the view from the top. Would go back on a weekday.

Chetan Rathod

Lovely gallery, always a pleasure to spend time there and learn more about art... The group of 7 is a must visit , climb up the spiral staircase to get nice views of the city. You can finish the entire gallery in about 5-6 hours.

Michele D.

Beautiful art gallery with many floors and room after room of art to look at. I also enjoy the occasional seating areas to better admire and appreciate the painting. Best gift was getting a membership to the AGO - I’m looking forward to visiting a lot this coming year. (Though the process to actually get the membership all up and running was a bit convoluted and lengthy... purchased online, waited a few weeks for a package to be mailed, which a certificate had to be filled out, to then mail/bring it in, to get it processed and THEN get a membership card..) Only wish that the dining was open for longer hours and not just the bistro open in the evenings for food service. Even the members lounge food service ends in the afternoon.

Mitch Vine

The art is first rate. The annual pass for $35 is a good deal. The descriptions placed on the walls by the pieces are dull and with not enough interesting info about the pieces or the artist for my taste.

Mashid JBR

Explore history in Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) very good access to the subway, every Tuesday is free for all. Reserve your name before doing anything to see some exciting room.

Ralph Collins

Situated in downtown Toronto just north west of the centre this is the place to go if you love art, from Classics to modern pieces. Great displays and brilliant shows and special events. Decent restaurant facilities and functions for schools and groups I believe there’s some interactive art rooms for school groups and all types of accommodations for special needs as required A gem in downtown Toronto.

Stephen Dunscombe

They always have interesting and extensive shows. When displaying work that's "of a different time", they interrogate it - displaying it with disclaimers and commentary, or (more interestingly) displaying it alongside newer works by marginalized artists who're responding to it.

Sima Chowdhury

I loved the AGO! The Andy Warhol exhibition taught me a lot. I didn't know that he painted Wayne Gretzky or that he danced. The other exhibits were just as beautiful and creative.

Marissa Hofland

Well thought-out layouts, and well chosen collections. Helps that the building is beautiful also!

Mohammed Shaheen

A good spot on DT Toronto to spend a day indoors. I encourage taking a tour then another one, the storytellers make the art look m feel different. They should do some virtual storytelling for the art pieces they have.

YUNMEE LEE

It was a first visit to AGO and I love it. Beautiful paintings and scultures. Staff were very friendly and helpful except one security guard who overreacted and intimidated to me. He was the only one intimidating me, so not a big deal. Anyway, I will get a membership.

Topaz Gross

One of my favorite places in town! The museum shop is wonderful! A selection of architectural and design books

domainfilms

Went for the Worhol exhibit but was pleasantly captivated by the other collections. Worth every penny of admission.

Phyllis Koppel

Great exhibition, Warhol et al

Wayne Ralph

Wonderful as always- have been going to exhibits here for 50 years.

Anish Betawadkar

Brilliant space, nicely organised. You don't feel crowded art pieces. Good information and nice people from art gallery to help you with explanation. Look in the picture, a grand fatherly figure enthusiastically taking and helping others understand!

Susan SV

It was easy to lose myself in the wonders of art for a couple of hours! Easy location, friendly staff and clean restrooms. …

Justin Dorland

Great exhibits and rotating gallery. Solid gift shop and prints too. Just wish they changed the galleries more often

Margarita Ibbott (DownshiftingPRO)

We visited the AGO over the holiday season to see the Guillermo del Toro "At Home with Monsters" exhibit. Once again the AGO does not disappoint! It was a very well curated exhibit with a free audio tour to help you understand the complexities that are the images, creatures and creations that come from del Toro's imagination. It is interesting to see how he came up with the iconic monsters in Pan Labyrinth's The Pale Man and The Faun. Well worth the visit. Be sure and read the whole review #ontheblog at DownshiftingPRO . Com - House of Horrors - Master of the Macabre.

Svetlana Kachina

It's hard to give a review to this place during the COVID times. Other than that, one of the best Galleries in Canada. Unique and has endless little treasure finds in the depths of its basement and upper floors. The only downside is parking , which is incredibly hard to find and is very expensive.

Hanxiang Li

It is the quiet and peaceful place in the noisy downtown when you need to have a moment to collect your thoughts and appreciate arts. The new annual membership program is so affordable that it's really worth the investment.

Michael Cochrane

The Art Gallery of Ontario is my favourite place to visit while in Toronto. The building itself is a work of art and is worth the ticket price alone. The gallery offers a variety of art from different regions and mediums. My favourites included sculptures from Henry Moore and Rodin, European paintings particularly from Chardin and Rubens, Canadian paintings from the Group of Seven, and the European religious iconography. I love this gallery and would seriously consider purchasing a membership if I lived in Toronto.

Antonio T.

My favorite museum! Always some fantastic new exhibit and a wonderful permanent collection. A must see and to visit regularly.

Antonio T.

I loved the AGO! The Andy Warhol exhibition taught me a lot. I didn't know that he painted Wayne Gretzky or that he danced. The other exhibits were just as beautiful and creative.

Andrea S.

The architecture of this place is fantastic! Please don’t miss the stairs. Attentive staff and great gift-shop. Also you can see here the Infinity Mirrors exhibit

Nancy Steinhausen

Explored Warhol's and Picasso's mind in the social exhibits. Fascinating. The Fragments of Epic Memory was outstanding. I love explored how art and society intersect.

Ming-Thien Yu

Great experience and a must visit if you're in Toronto and like art. Modern artwork, sculptures, paintings (new and old), ship models, etc. The Anthropocene Exhibition I visited during my stay was intriguing as well. 5$ upgrade from the regular ticket (29$) which was well worth it.

Dr. BB

Décent size gallery but overall quality of the artwork here are very usual, nothing unique. A lot of recent artist work which doesn’t really appeal or stand out.

Antonio Juarez

Amazing place, most be to visit in Toronto. But don't get fool about the I'm alive exhibition. Not worth it. Guillermo del Toro was superb.

Olga Crawford

A small but nice gallery with some rare exhibits

Barry Kravitz

A must stop while visiting Toronto is the AGO whether you’re an art lover or not. This outstanding museum, both stimulates and relaxes the mind body and soul. A few highlights from my last visit were the “Early Rubens” exhibit. These incredible life like paintings from over 400 years ago truly blow away visually any modern big screen ultra high definition TV picture. The “Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrored Room - Let’s Survive Forever “ permanent exhibition seems like stepping into another dimension and the collection of Canadian art is awe inspiring. This Toronto institution definitely gets a number one recommendation from me.

Livy K

Beautiful place to visit. But you have to park at the street and pay. It's $4 per hour.

Sylvia Lee

Amazing, huge Andy Warhol exhibition plus an absolute delight, 'Death is Elsewhere' by Ragnar Kjartansson, a mesmerising video installation which I could have lost myself in for days. Excellent space.

Shelby Meyers

What an amazing museum! The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. The exhibits are amazing! The information on each piece is thorough and everything is laid out in a way that makes sense and allows you to see everything without too much planning. Only complaint is there is very limited food options, even in the cafe. Luckily, your ticket is good for the entire day, so you can easily duck out to a nearby restaurant for lunch before continuing to explore. I really enjoyed their focus on First Nations people and wish more American museums would follow suit. If you are able, definitely take the stairs from the 2nd floor up to the 4th and 5th. They are such an architectural wonder and provide and excellent view of the city from the top! One of my favorite museums I've ever visited and I am going to make it a point to come back!

Jessica H

This place was fab. I loved Matthew Wongs paintings. I can’t wait to slip my paintings in here next time I come

Maryam Ghazi

The exhibits are amazing. There are different sections throughout the building and you get to simply glide from one room to another looking at the different art and taking photos. The staff is very friendly. You can get an annual pass for free if you are under 25 years old.

Timothy Brown

This experience at AGO it is one of a kind place. Lots of exhibits big venue. Takes a day to look of what they show. Great to learn & try something new & exciting!!

Atria Vasudevan

It is an amazing place to visit. Relatively huge gallery with a wide verity of art pieces. I loved the atmosphere, It is peaceful and calming. It is worth to buy an annual pass if you are someone passionate about art, paintings and illustrations. I visited the Andy Warhol exhibit as well, It was great.

Edward Gesicki

Experienced the Andy Warhol & the Picasso: Blue Period Exhibits. Both were Amazing with many paintings & different installations. The staff did a great job only allowing the maximum number of people in each room.

Aileen Hunter

The new impressionism exhibit is really enjoyable. I recommend checking it out. It's worth fighting the crowds. Who knew smog on a bridge could be so pretty?

Georges Younes

The Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the best of its kind in Canada. The collection is large, varied, well chosen and beautifully exhibited. This is not one of those museums that crowd their walls and open spaces with works of art to make an impression. There's plenty of room for the exhibited pieces and for visitors. The building of the gallery calls attention to itself sparingly, never taking your attention away from the exhibitions. The collection of Canadian art is unequalled. It spans the history of art in the country from its humble beginnings to contemporary times.

Kristina

Well organized, clean. Helpful staff. Did the Andy Warhol exhibit. Easy to locate and very spacious. Not all followed Covid protocol of social distance but plenty of room to move

Shazia Anwar

Not the best place for kids because they will get bored. I really liked the architecture and the gift shop- lots of unique items.

Amanda Dzoch

Love the AGO. Went to see the Warhol exhibit. They had a ton of great pieces and very useful descriptive blurbs along the way!

Doga

went to the andy warhol exhibit. totally recommend. a bit expensive but totally worth it. esp if u read what the pics are about and everything. rest of the museum was ok

Hannah Peter

It seemed like some exhibits were closed due to corona, but every time I visit the AGO, which is once a year or so, I always leave happier than when I arrived. Such a beautiful gallery

Sylvia Parrotta

Picasso's Blue period exhibition is very well done AGO never disappoints

Paco Archi

Very nice museum well kept well organized not very busy had some amazing collections. I would highly recommend to buy the yearly pass when it’s on sell its worth it.

Be Laude

If you like modern art this is the place to be. Free at certain times of the week, it is a place of discovery of talent. The museum is really very beautiful and spacious. The museum is on 4 floors. In the evening after 9 p.m a DJ is present on the center of the museum. Have a Fun

Frianca Lurge

Museum may be good, but didn't really have a great experience with one of the workers there. Not entirely their fault, could've mitigated the situation better. But I guess laziness is deadlier than not doing anything at all.

Sylvia Lee

For a Canadian art gallery, it’s probably the best. Nothing like the galleries in NYC, LA, or Europe, but it does the job. Really great collection of Canadian artists, and their recent Picasso exhibit was one of the best I’ve seen ever (it was better than the Picasso museum in Barcelona). Definitely check out if you’re visiting Toronto or get the annual membership if you live in the city. Same cost as one ticket!

The Brave

Nice gallery. Just FYI for parents all hands on programming is not happening at this time. Children will be very bored. Henry Moore is closed, coat check is also closed. Sharing here because the website is horribly overwhelming.

Nicole D

The AGO had a wonderful collection of modern and impressionist art, as well as rotating exhibits. It felt large enough to feel substantial, but small enough that we felt we could view in an afternoon. The real star of the show at AGO though is the facility itself. I was in awe of the gorgeous spiraling staircase and the exterior trusses. A must-see!

Mitch M

Gallery is massive with multiple levels to enjoy all sorts of art. I highly recommend coming here. I gave this a 4 star as we found out while we were entering the gallery that Wednesday nights are free starting at 6 PM. We bought tickets and arrived at 5 PM, so if we would have known we could have got in for free. They wouldn't return the tickets.

Joker

Free entry for those under 25; great location and immersive exhibitions year round; I visit AGO at least 3~4 times a year and I dont live in Toronto

Alicia Loo

Nice expo. The layout of the building and instructions to leave could have been clearer but the building is well kept and they follow covid guidelines properly.

Obner

Free entry = Free 5 stars Great place and the staff was helpful. Their oil paintings are nice!

Rachel U

Whenever I’m in Toronto I come to the AGO. Never ceases to amaze me!

Matt Stead

A fantastic museum with a wonderful variety of featured exhibitions and galleries. A must see attraction for anyone with an interest in the arts.

Josiah Friesen

The art and ambiance are obviously nice, but the staff is what really made my experience awesome. They’re so willing to answer any questions you have and they’re very considerate.

Brad Moxon

We have had season passes the last two years and would highly recommend getting one. They are $35 and the value is incredible. There is always one, sometimes multiple world class exhibitions happening. You will see something new and inspiring every time. The staff that work there are so knowledgeable, so professional and so friendly. We have been to all the top museums in North America, I rank this at the top !

Irene Shaw

Lots of great art exhibits to view at the ROM! Great gift shop too! Prepare to spend at least a few hours at this awesome tourist attraction!

John Whelan

Excellent experience. The attendant allowed us to visit the bistro before entering even though our tickets explicitly stated the time of entry. We had a mind-blowing avocado kimchi club sandwich at the bistro and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of art and culture. Definitely recommend an amazing experience for kids and adults.

Merlot Beauty Inc

I’ve been here probably over 20 times in my life. It never gets old and you could never have enough time to look and read everything just because there is so much to see!! On top of that they do update sections as well over the years. I highly recommend the Friday night events they have. You met lots of nice people along the way. And there’s lots of food and drink options which is great. Highly recommend!

Rula Al-Sadiq

Always there is something to see. Worth the membership if you are interested in ART. This week, we went to PICASSO. You will realize that you knew a little about the artist, especially the ones that shaped the ART. Before it, went to Andy Warhol. And more and more. Everyone is polite and nice. Even the people. We went with a baby in the pram. We go every few weeks. And it’s worth it. One of my favourite trips to the downtown :)

Eddie Chan

Came for Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirror exhibit and had a great experience with viewing the different art pieces. It was a Thursday but there was still substantial line ups for each exhibit. Fortunately the attendants were great and polite with directing traffic which helped with making the experience a lot more enjoyable and memorable.

Kyle Michaels

Amazing experience at the AGO from the start to the finish. Having the tickets ???? on your phone makes the process so much better. I was unclear when purchasing the tickets whether the $35 was just for the annual pass and the Andy Warhol exhibit would be $25 extra. In any case I paid $25 assuming if I was wrong at least I would see only the Warhol exhibit…so this needs to be clarified. I don’t mind paying a second time as it will go towards supporting the AGO and will definitely return.

Zeyuan L

Great exhibitions of Matthew Wong and Picasso, pretty friendly for youth and artists. Gladly came for the tour before the Ontario shutdown

Jason Singer

Excellent exhibits. Beautiful displays of Canadian and International art. Wish there were more tickets available to Warhol, as we were unable to secure tickets for opening day.

Alex

The Picasso exhibit is fantastic - it covers his early Blue Period and includes pieces that he used as inspiration and shows how they figured out that some paintings have earlier works hidden underneath. So interesting and well done, and it is free for people under 25 which is generous. They didn't really enforce the time slots, since I arrived a bit late and nobody checked the time on my ticket. It'll definitely take a few visits to see the whole gallery, so I'm looking forward to going back!

Katherine Caspersz

Such a cool, chill place to view art. I love the AGO. They always have amazing exhibits and the actual gallery itself is beautifully designed. One of my fav spots in the city. I don’t think the price is bad either. There’s tons to see, a bistro, and tons of places to sit and chill in the gallery. They also host very cool parities, like their AGO first Thursdays. I highly recommend this place if you want to see some art in the city.

Judith Landgrebe

Very friendly team and great collection. Only 3 stars because there was very limited information about the artwork. I was told this was because it was originally in booklets that had to be removed because of COVID. Surely by now it should have been possible to fix something to the wall giving details about at least key pieces. I specifically wanted to learn about the group of 7 but came out not much the wiser. Great shame especially given the pretty high entrance fee.

Kay L

Always a great experience at the AGO. Their feature artists are always carefully selected, catering to all tastes of the arts. I also appreciate their new covid policy to ensure the safety of all their guests.

nicky

Amazing, good prices. Very nice staff! Very cool and fantastic art pieces! You could be there all day, there is so many cool things to look at. Amazing place to go with your family.

Carolyn Legere

Spent a couple of hours and wandered from floor to floor, seeing many different genres of art. I even went to the basement level to check out the pretty amazing collection of model ships and boats. Was able to take a lunch break outside of the gallery and get back in again with no hassle to continue the experience. It was busy , probably due to the Picasso exhibit , but staff checked vaccines docs quickly and efficiently and everyone was so friendly. If you plan to visit more than once within a year's time it's worth it to buy the $35 membership which allows you free entry to general exhibit after purchase.

Mimi Straka

Truly enjoyed the Warhol exhibit and will return in 2 weeks for the Picasso. Had a terrible time getting tickets (over the phone- don't ask!). The interior belies the bleak exterior. The Covid line moved fairly quickly. However the exhibit was quite crowded, which didn't seem to follow Covid protocols.

Cheryl T

Hadn't been here for many years. Great as an adult now, love seeing exhibitions :) I hope the Canadian art scene continues to grow.

PRINCY PRISSY

Very interesting place with lots of history and interesting art. I visited as audience to an event where they featured a local photographer Othello Grey his work is amazing and the event was well organized on time and flowed well. I will have to visit again to get the full AGO experience

Kelly Petro

Wonderful place to visit. Andy Warhol exhibit was fantastic! Great little bistro located right outside the front doors.

ran vash

Good organization during covid times. The line moved quickly but was outside in the chill. Staff are friendly and helpful.

heman shih

hypocritical acknowledgement of first nations treaty right to sell tickets and proclaimed empty political correctness that does nothing to change anything. lip synch shows I wonder any audience know the true hardships and destruction of the residential massacre. shocked that no one really check our vaccination records! major health breach!!!

Aliyeh R

If you love art and appreciate beauty, highly recommend to visit this unique art gallery. It was great visit for me and will go there again for sure. glad to see museums reopened.

Ali FA

This is a great place to explore arts. It has a vast collection of the group of seven artists which depict Canadian landscapes. It also has quite large collection of medieval arts and European paintings. The only complaint I have is I found that not all paintings have the description associated with it, especially in the Canadian art section.

Kay S

Art, tasty food, great compliance with covid precautions - a really nice place to spend a few hours

John Vlahakis

They boast a nice collection of system of artwork from various places and times. If you have been to museums in Europe this will underwhelm.

Azfar Shakil

A must visit place for Art Lovers

Joe Choi

I went to this art gallery when it had Yayoi Kusama: infinity mirrors. It is a great art gallery , will definitely go back other events

joshua lopez

Wow what a place to visit. I would say this is the largest Art gallery I've been to. They have about 4 floors of art. I spent 2.5 hours just on the first floor. They have Picasso's blue period and Michael Wong both was lovely in seeing. I would invest in the membership for $35 if you live in the area. Definitely would be worth it and be able to fully enjoy the experience

Richard Cortez

Good variety to peruse all types of art and sculptures. The lower rating is due to one particular employer and his/her poor demeanor prior to entering the gallery. Customer service from this employees was dismal. Nonetheless, the gallery was amazing.

Google Account

So cool to see traveling exhibitions again. We enjoyed Picasso and Warhol.

Michael A

Came here for a function and the service was 10/10. The staff was always around when you needed something and very professional. The facility is very clean. The art scattered around the venue hall is a nice touch and gives the event you are at such an impressive atmosphere. The food is amazing with nothing negative about it. Everything was cooked to perfection including the steak. The pasta/ sauce tasted “almost” like nonnas which they should be proud of as many places don’t come close. Very good work team keep it up.

Simon Hare

The gallery is vast. Many hours are needed to give it a complete viewing. Regardless, whether you visit for a long time or just briefly you will leave feeling enriched. The renaissance exhibit is stunning as is the indigenous art collection. The staff were extremely friendly interactive and helpful.

mj jacques

Went for the Picasso exhibit. The exhibit was amazing. The checkpoints got a but annoying, first they check your tickets, then passport, then covid check, then ticket scan, then another ticket scan and then a guard tells you you can wear backpack properly? You have to wear it only on one shoulder. I get that we're in covid times it just seemed excessively overbearing. Still don't know what the backpack thing is about but I do know that there will be issues with back pain for people caring a pack like that

Shaggy Wong

World class art gallery with amazing collection of both European and Canadian art. I believe they have the largest repository of Henry Moore collection outside of the UK at this stunning gallery designed by Frank Gehry. Look for Monet, Picasso, Jackson Pollard and Warhol. Fine dining and friendly retail shops.

Renata Kay

Love going to the AGO. They always have different exhibitions that run and keep people coming back. The only suggestion I have is to have the cafe restaurant open late until closing time

Ripley Piedrasanta

Went during their free admission evening and loved the experience. For the gallery being relatively busy it was still easy to navigate with plenty of space and handicap accessibility. The exhibits were well-rounded with a variety of influences.

Hannah Hernandez

If you’re under 25 years old you can get a free yearly pass to all their exhibitions and permanent galleries. I was able to see the Picasso, Andy Warhol and Matthew Wong exhibits. There was a long line up to get in which confused me because I thought there were timed tickets to avoid that but it went by quickly. The exhibits were really informative and extensive, the Andy Warhol exhibit also included a lot about his personal life which was interesting. There was a lot of people inside the exhibits despite the capacity limit that made it difficult to read passages and look at the art work safely but it was still a great time. Definitely recommend if you like learning about the artists behind the work.

Chantal Carter

Really nice experience visiting the Caribbean exhibit. I'll look forward to going back to see Picasso.

Judy Jackett

Viewing areas for both Picasso and Warhol exhibits were over crowded and exceeded covid limits. Descriptions on the wall were in such small print that crowding occurred around them. Long lineups despite timed entry.

Raad Saadi

Outstanding experience! Huge variety of paintings, sculptures and designs. Every room or hall has a different vibe and atmosphere. Beautifully designed and well maintained.

Rosa MD

We went there for the free wednesday night. It is a really good program and hopefully they keep doing it for the public for all ages. I like all the paintings. They have the group of seven art works and the special exhibition that requires to purchase a ticket. There was no line when we came in, which was really good. The volunteers and tour guides were friendly. Good experience overall.

Marc T

Nice museum but membership department is seriously dropping the ball and letting the whole organization down. Bought and paid for a membership online over 3 weeks ago and have received no membership card or information whatsoever. Despite numerous emails sent and phone calls made ... no correspondence received or even an apology. Very frustrating and the lack of attention is very unprofessional and entitled. Buyer beware!!

A K

This place was fab. I loved Matthew Wongs paintings. I can’t wait to slip my paintings in here next time I come

Nancy

Went for the first time during their “free admission” times on wed 6-9PM. Found out that I wasn’t an art gallery person, but still enjoyed herself and was thankful that the art gallery does provide for a time slot that is free.

Julie Macdonald

Highly recommend the indigenous and Matthew Wong exhibits.

Sandra Lynsdale

Beautiful art gallery exhibit housing work from group of seven, Picasso and many other artists. I particularly enjoying the Picasso exhibit about the blue period it was very interesting and well done. It’s also a gorgeous venue for events such as weddings. They offer coat check and there is a gift shop and bistro.

A L

Annual pass is great to just drop in when you're in the neighbourhood. This is usually my reaction

Bri M

This museum is awesome and houses unique exhibits. If you are in Toronto it is worth checking out as it also has many activities on the lower level for children and a few nice out door water features for pets and children

Natalie Torres

Always love visiting the AGO, great with covid protocols especially with the Warhol Exhibit

Peter H

The Warhol exhibition was great to check out.

Kate Fernandes

It's a lovely place for a romantic walk or even a family day. Do check the listing before your visit though. I loved the Reubens exhibition, was superb. They're doing live music once a month strongly suggest visiting at that time

Tom P.

The AGO is a Canadian treasure featuring Group of seven, Renaissance masters, iconic paintings and sketches and sculptures. We saw Rodin sculptures this visit and the amazing Thompson gallery. Nice souvenir store with super friendly people working there. Take the family.

Carmine Vescio

Wonderful and relaxing. Every New Artist takes your imagination to new heights. The staff gave me a one year membership for $10 extra and told me I overpayed . Once I purchased the Andy Warhal ticket the general admission was free for me to see all artists on display including my favorite, The Group of Seven. I want to see Picasso next and feel welcome with the friendly staff I recommend the one year membership and save$$$$$

Michelle Abrioux

Loved it. There were lines to ensure infection control measures were enforced which was reassuring. Not over crowded and art exhibits were enjoyable and nice to view.

Jaimee Spinelli

Beautiful, some truly great pieces of art here. Good March break activities for young children Great variety

Kathryn Wicks

Great staff great value if you're a art lover and want the membership to see collections only for members. You could spend a entire day there and never get bored great place to go with anyone. Highly recommend for locals and tourist.

Aloysius Gregory

Purchased the Annual Pass for $35 (which is really great value) and was so super stoked to see the Andy Warhol exhibit that I made a mistake with the online ticket purchase. Called up the AGO next day and a gentleman took my details, noticed what I'd done wrong without me having to tell him, and very kindly sorted everything out and adjusted/refunded my money. Top man and excellent customer service! Oh and the Warhol exhibit was brilliant too!

Iman S

The architecture of the gallery itself is amazing with plenty of interesting exhibits. Really appreciated the COVID-19 measures in place, although a bit dismayed that they closed the Yayoi Kusama exhibit.

Anneliza Brito

Good art collections. Andy Warhol exhibition is great. Paid for the annual pass can’t wait for my next trip here :)

K. E.

Beautiful institute. Very very big - if you take your time, you can easily spend 2 full days here. Facilities are very clean and well kept. Staff is friendly. Sometimes they throw parties with a DJ, dancing and alcohol, definitely recommend checking it out. Lots of fun!

Claribel Angulo

Ago is always a pleasure to visit. Very interesting collection of art. Central location, kind staff, so many amenities near by

Brenda D

The Andy Warhol exhibit was wonderful!! We had purchased tickets online for the exhibit for a specified time today. Our email confirmation asked that we not arrive earlier than 10 minutes in advance of our booking. We arrived 15 minutes in advance of our booking only to find that we had to join a very long lineup outside and then another long lineup inside. It didn’t seem to matter which time we had booked as they were letting everyone go in whenever they arrived. We were disappointed with the lengthy wait to get in and wonder why it was necessary to book a time slot at all?

the art machine

It is always perfect, For 35 $ per year unlimited access and up to 21 year old free access. This is how it should be everywhere. Love Picasso, but tomorrow closure again, so hoping that they would be able to extend exhibit. Well hoping

Michael Robinson

Great building, great Andy Warhol show. It's always a pleasure to wander through the beautiful art in the beautiful environment.

moayad khalid

Visited in 2015 and again 6 years later today. The organization of the “Andrew Warhol” exhibition specifically was fantastic. Loved the self-tour guided by a link (you can scan a barcode with your phone to access) with descriptive audios.

Grant Zhou

Maybe a bit too contemporary for my brain cells (lol), but I loved the atmosphere and had a great time with fam!

Virginia Omarosa

There was a lot of art and the architecture is so amazing. You get a pass valid for a year for free if you're 25 and under. Very friendly service at the front desk too. Also, you get a perfect view of the CN tower from the top floors of the gallery. 100% recommend

Peter Glossop

The AGO was surprisingly busy in spite of the pandemic. Rooms have designated maximum numbers of patrons to maintain some social distance. Lots to see and enjoy.

Greg Whitney

Fantastic Andy Warhol exposition. Plus other collections.

Usama Al-Farisi

A beautiful place to go on a date! All different kinds of things to see in terms of history and art. The exhibitions there are neat, I personally just went to the Andy Warhol one and it was phenomenal. Not one reason I wouldn’t go to the AGO. Their tickets are fairly priced as well. Finally, they do have a $35 annual pass, which is a steal.

G R (G)

With the yearly pass it's a great place to go take in art and even hang out if you need a nice place to read

Aida Stojkov

Kind of small compared to other Canadian cities' galleries but still very beautiful!

Anthony Martin

Went there with my partner for the Guillermo del Toro exhibit and was amazed at this guys mind. So glad he decided to share with us, it was remarkable.

Christina

Picasso exhibition was well organized. Staffs there were welcomed, polite and helpful.

Guy Inguelph

honestly ive been to europe i appreciate that you have monet , homer watson and also exhibits such as guillmero del toros . I read alot of dope comics and bought the anthology of edgar allen poe in the guillmero del toro gift shop. NOT THE main giftshop..

Troy

Very well garnished gallery. Has a lot on Canadian historal and cultural pieces. The basement as a huge section on modeled boats. The upper floors are a bit tricky to navigate and we'd end up in the same room once or twice. Wednesday evenings are free which makes it accessible for all, but if you want to see specific items they might be off your list/tour.

David Bartlett

AGO was excellent for a family visit including our 14 and 12 year old boys . Especially liked the model ships on the lower level. Anthropocene was a great exhibit but they let too many people in at once so it was very crowded.

István Pista

This institution doesn't allow you to come in useless you have access to a credit card, hence, if you are part of the class of people who have no access to credit and you were screwed during the pandemic economically you can't enjoy art. I could have used my credit card, but didn't out of principle. Art should be for everyone, not just those with access to credit. This place has become as club instead of a public institution. Disgusting institution specially as it portrays itself as progressive. And don't tell me you can't stand 6 feet apart inside the building while waiting inline to by your ticket or annual pass. Shameful.

Roman

Beautiful art space. Our favorite part is ship miniatures. Picasso’s exhibition is until mid January. Coffee shop has an amazing ambiance, especially during the sunny day. And AGO cafe is worth mentioning because it’s one of a kind both healthier and yummier place to eat (comparable to regular museum’s cafes). It’s also free to everyone under 25!

Mahmut Bilgener

It is worth to visite this art galleria while you are in Toronto. You may a good time see the objects presented.

Aral Onur

Fantastic art center. By the time I visit Andy Warhol exhibition was there. The curation and end-to-end visitor guides were pretty on the spot. The best side is AGO is their oen visitor shop, very cool stuff are out there.

Laura Kang

Been to the Picasso special exhibition today and it was wonderful! Thank you for planning this event for the city
