Hannah took my mom and I on such an educational and eye-opening virtual tour today! I learned so much I didn't know about a neighborhood I've spent quite a lot of time in. Learning about the beginnings and hardships of what the Jewish population went through so my family and countless others could have a place to call home was humbling and beautiful. Thank you for this experience and all that your museum does to keep the Jewish culture and history alive. And I'm definitely interested in the food tour once the weather gets nice again! ????????

Today through my University Alumni group, 8 of us attended the 11:00 am walking tour entitled " In the Shadow of the Mountain". Our tour guide, Simone was knowledgeable and informative. Even through her cold, she made the experience interactive, fun and wonderful. I learned so much about the Jewish people who arrived into Montreal, their hardships, the important people who maintained their cultural roots while amalgamating and their important contributions that make Monteal special, unique, secular and multicultural. Definite recommendation that you check out this historic gem with its many tours, exhibits and amazing Fletcher's cafe!

Didn't go through the actual museum, but the restaurant for brunch was fantastic. The employees are very nice and helpful, giving out a bunch of advice about the city and things to do.

It is not a museum! I came there especially because I am interested in the History of the Jews in Montreal, and found out it’s a coffee place with some paintings and things you can buy. The name of the place is misleading, it is definitely not a museum. I was hoping to get to one of their tours but there was no tour at the day when I visited. It seems like a really nice and cozy coffee place though!!!

I took two of the tours that the Museum offered, Rabbis, Writers and Radicals with Lucien and Making Their Mark (I either missed the guide's name at the beginning or she did not actually say it). Both of the tours were very good although I enjoyed the Rabbis, Writers and Radicals a little more. However, you cannot go wrong with either tour. As an ex-Montrealer, it was really fascinating to walk through the areas that I had visited in my youth but had never really explored. It was amazing to see the buildings where Jewish institutions used to be so vibrant and it was also a bit depressing to see that they were not preserved. If the Museum could ever figure out a way to include people who used to live in the area back in the 1940's and 1950's, it would be pretty amazing (this would be pretty tough since the people would be in their 60's and 70's but I also suggested that they record some oral testimonies and play the recordings during the tours so that would really bring the area to life). Both tours lasted about 2 hours and the walking was pretty easy. The first tour ended on Fairmont Street (bagels and Wilensky's) while the second tour ended back at the Museum on St. Laurent. If you are interested in Jewish history in Montreal, both of these tours are excellent ways to get some history on what life was like for Jews living in Montreal.

Making Their Mark: A Virtual Tour of Historic Jewish Montreal Took the virtual tour yesterday with Hannah: a wonderful experience and a welcome break from the monotony of our sequestered lives. Even though I am a self-taught student of Montreal history, I learned new things and had other ideas corrected. Highly recommended!

Please check the website for all activities. It's not the typical museum in mind. After you check the website, you'll know what kind of cultural tours to go with. I (ignorant to historical fact) learnt a lot about the history in this trip. Too bad I didn't have time for a food tour.

October 2016. I participated in one of their walking tours of Jewish Montreal. This is a quality tour, where you will learn detailed information about Jewish life in early 20th century Montreal. Many tours in Montreal are free and consist of pointing out various landmarks. The Museum of Jewish Montreal tours are not free, but they are prepared by researchers and so you can expect a higher level. You definitely won't be saying "I knew all that". Worth a try, I think I will return for the eating tour where you get to fill up on Jewish food from the local spots! Arrive in advance and eat at Fletcher's Cafe in the same building, the gefilte fish was delicious.

(Translated) I did not properly visit the museum but I had the chance to follow the activities which give a real overview of the city's Jewish communities and their successes. We can say that they have fashioned this beautiful metropolis with class. (Original) Je n'ai pas à proprement parlé visité le musée mais j'eu la chance de suivre les activités qui donnent un réel aperçu des communautés juives de la ville ainsi que leurs réussites.
