REVIEWS OF McCord Museum IN Beloeil

Alison Masters

Very moving exhibition of first nations culture and recent experiences

Milou Laan

We went for the free exhibition, and there was not a lot to see.

Claudia Medina

(Translated) I liked about the indigenous peoples and the exhibition on the press charity worker who also made Gérard D Laflaque …

Fabian Sanchez

Temporary exhibits are interesting, relevant, and fun

Claudia Miccoli

Cute exposition last only 20 minutes

Efi F

I found this very boring. So did my kids. The museums in Ottawa are much better than in Montreal...

Chris Brittain

Kids enjoyed it. And the adults too. Great little museum of the history of Montréal.

Juliana Vilanova

I thought the place was cool, but the exhibitions are small. The permanent exhibition has few items.

Francoise Bernardin

Montréal's history and beautiful aboriginal art!

Ankit Patel

Balenciaga exhibit is a must. Such an inspiration... What a visionary he was. ❤️

Layla Farhat

I am absolutely shocked at the other reviews. After paying over 30$ for 2 people, there were only 3 floors accessible, 2 of which were based on 2 specific individuals and they were all prints. The third floor contains sparsely laid native artifacts. Where are these millions of artifacts it states they have? Where's the history of Montreal? It took an entire 20 min to read and view everything it had to offer. An absolute waste of money. If you want history, go to the actual history museum. You want art, go there. This museum feels like it takes the leftovers of the other ones. With other museums open, just pick one. Any other one.

Christine Briand

Gavin Harvey

Polaroid exhibit was fantastic, and very well presented.

Georgette Bensimon

Good museum. Hard to park. Have to go with public transport.

Abiezer Reyes

I liked the place even though I was expecting to see more about Alfred's Adventure. The story teller was awesome doing voices and for my surprise my kid told me she enjoyed using her imagination at the reading session. I also enjoyed the exhibition about Montreal with books of more than 2 hundreds years and pots of over 700 hundred years. Employees were super friendly and they also had a craft sessions for kids which they enjoyed. Is not a big museum but I believe it is worth a visit.

Justin Dupuis

Josh Cohen

Wonderful museum!

Brice Nobili

(Translated) Free museum for 100 days we took advantage and it was very enriching, the culture of the natives told by themselves is very playful and poignant we learn a lot of things there. On the second floor the Parachute exhibit is interesting for understanding the expansion of fashion and certain ideologies.

Randy McDonald

This excellent museum, on Sherbrooke near the McGill campus, has a diverse collection of exhibitions. I was taken by The Polaroid Project, a show relating to Polaroid film photography, but the Haida exhibit was also noteworthy.

Katherine DeVane

Fairly small-ish museum, three individual exhibits on three floors (they have elevators). Two exhibits rotate, but the third is a really cool, informative and thought-provoking permanent exhibit on Indigenous peoples. Nice staff. Self-check for coats, including a locker option.

Angela Au

I recently saw the Balenciaga exhibit and was very impressed by the caliber of the curated pieces. The quality reminded me of the Alexander McQueen exhibit at London's V&A musuem a few years back. Well done.

B K

The indigenous voices exhibit was powerful and well worth seeing. In fact, this exhibit should be compulsory to everyone

ekram rashid

Always fun to visit this museam. I'm always happy and impressed by their exhibitions. They provide a window to worlds we never knew they existed. We are always better people by having more knowledge. McCord museam does that for us.

Lisa Isakov

I had the most wonderful time seeing their 2 photography exhibitions, they were very refreshing and curated very well.

Kanita

Nice flow to the Balenciaga Exposition.

Nglk Dng

Chris Hudsmith

It was nice!

Noah

It was free so that was a positive, although there wasn't too much to see and i didn't think it was very good. The first Nations or natives exhibit was educational and structured nicely.

BeautifulNight Homer

Dior exhibit was amazing

Juliano Peuckert

The toy exhibition brought back some very fond memories of when I was a kid in the 70's, 80's. The entrance was free because it was the first Sunday of the month. Good for a quick tour with kids (the collection is not that big).

Nydia Olvera Pizana

ealaban

A lovely Museum in the heart of Montreal. The architecture is amazing, and the exhibits are worth the price of admission and then some.

NELS NELLIS

Staff was nice and helpful, for a reasonable price you have access to different exhibition. Worth to try at least once.

Dario Leonardo

Nice excibits. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because usually their events not deliver as promised. Otherwise... It is an AMAZING museum.

JoAnn Castillo

Native people exhibits

Bethel HLuna

The quality of the expositions varied quite a bit. But it makes for a lovely quite outing. The exhibit on Chapleau is worth a visit. It will take you through some political souvenirs through the pencil of a great cartoonist.

Albeliz Cordoba

Entertaining and well-organized. Unfortunately, very little is open currently (Jan 2022)

France Rocheleau

(Translated) After a few years between my two visits to this museum, the exhibitions are still as interesting. I like this museum!

Enna Hughes

3 areas on display. The fashion designer display is just too dark - hard to appreciate the details. The Shalom Montreal display was very interesting. The 3rd was a photographer and we didn't really think it was a good use of space. One family's opinion... sorry.

Lupo Vladi

My little, 3 year old daughter, had a great time playing and running around. The Christmas exzibition was amazing.

Delong ZHOU

Really enjoyed their 90min guided tour for the temp expo.

Basel Al-kana

Best museum in Montreal. You miss out of you don't go.

Belol Nasim

A really great museum but it is on the small side so don't expect to spend more than an hour and half or 2 if you stop to look and read/interact with everything.

Fedor van Rijn

Good, informative exhibits - a bit pricy though

Laryne Santana

The best museum in Montreal! Always interactive and interesting. Good service and organization. A must!

Renaldo Cesta

A fantastic family outing. The museum is perfectly geared for adults and an entire floor to children. With a treasure hunt, dress up section and fun facts there is plenty to see and all done in a few hours. Kids won't lose interest and they will have great memories.

YM Chao

Nice and quaint.

Laura Mills

Went here for a fashion event. It was cool. I also went for the Montreal through the times exhibit. Quite interesting.

Clément Gasc

Nice museum, but only few expositions available unfortunately.

Ella Beaini

Amazing little museum, great on Aboriginal representation and Montreal's history

Ruth Whitney

Wonderful exhibitions, dome permanent and some temporary

Antonio Gamiochipi

Beautifully displays history. Pannels could be a bit higher with bigger letters & could also give out a sheet with information regarding each floor.

Afuad Hossain

If you're interested in Canadian history, this has to be on your list of go-to museums. Even if I've been multiple times, I always love dropping by on Wednesdays when there's free admission and checking out their new exhibitions!

Cindy B.

Beautiful museum

Greg Pasychny

The museum exceeded my expectations, I quite enjoyed going though it.

montrealfilmguy

The McCord is a fine museum with great exhibits and a terrific little store for buying art and books. It is also here that you will now find the famous Display that used to be in the Ogilvy window.

Kelledstyle Blog

(Translated) The McCord Museum is a museum that I particularly appreciate. The program is diversified and the activities offered are original for both adults and children. Abdul Rahman A

I really enjoyed the exposition about the first nations people of Canada. I strongly recommend to go on a sunny day to enjoy the art pieces on the street at the side of the museum.

Ingrid Bekhor

Have lots of respect for the work of the McCord. Helping to foster an understanding of the rapidly evolving landscape of our city and island The free lectures and films are a wonderful bonus where we are able to come together and commune on our shared experiences

Rita Hokayem

It is a small museum that shows support for indigenous culture and community. On Wednesdays after 5 p.m., the permanent exhibition is free to the residents. However, make sure to show some support and pay for the current Chapleau and Christian Dior exhibitions (which I missed when I was in Paris).

A GH

Amazing museum, great staff, wonderful exhibitions!

Juan Paz-Viera

A great place to know more about Canada's first inhabitants and their customs. Temporary exibitions in 2nd and 3rd floor. This time on photography. Very nice.

Maryam Khaja

Nice

Paul Rupert

Well-curated with a lot of emphasis on Montreal, Quebec and social history in general. Great gift shop when you need to buy something for someone whose life you secretly envy.

Thomas Abthorpe

Went in on a Wednesday night when it was free, paid for the supplemtary floors, was well worth the time and money.

(Translated) Just go in and take a look. I don’t think there is any permanent theme. It is more like an exhibition hall. What I see is Balenciaga and the life of Jews in Montreal. The rest is not very interested. The price is more than 19 yuan and I like fashion. You can go in and have a look.

Imad Kayyali

Julie Philippon

Kai Kang

Helpful staff, it was a good visit

mail Jin & Park

One of the best museum in the montreal.

Angel Nolasco

Very interesting displays and quite informative. You could spend a day learning about Montréal. Their illusion displays were very mesmerizing.

Roxana Zollo

The first exhibit regarding the autochtones was superb. Really enjoyed it. The other two exhibits they had fell flat. I really do quite enjoy that it’s stroller friendly.

Torogi on the Move

A good place to discover the cultures and customs of the indigenous people. You can see the work of Serge Chapleau

Susan Smolders

The '67 expo and clothing were fun to see. The illusions exhibit was basically just old posters. The exhibit on first people was pretty big and very informative.

Nice

Wassim Ayass

Very interesting exhibits. The indigenous people exhibit was very informative and interesting. The PARACHUTE exhibit was a great addition to the museum and it made the visit more exciting and enjoyable.

Joseph S

Great museum, perfect size for an afternoon of learning. I ran into a guided tour, and Harvey was fantastic and really made the experience all the better and more impactful.

Sivan Rehan

Small museum but very interesting exhibitions. Especially the history of Montreal.

Joshua Paul

family price is $40. very very small museum - read all the panels maybe 2 hours. if you have 3 days then i recommend if not then maybe not. i enjoyed the aboriginal textiles a lot. the beadwork and embroidery were inspiring.

Andrii Soroka

Nothing interesting

Sandra Lyman

Taken through the Haida Gwaii exhibition on 2nd floor by a most charming guide named Joanna. Thank you so much for sharing you enthusiasm & passion ????

Nathan Bennett

Very nicely curated, informative and interesting exhibits

Penny Black

Amazing museum that isn't exactly the largest of museums, which is a good thing because you get to avoid lineups. Check out the Christian Dior exhibit while you still can, which is traveling from the ROM in Toronto. I find there's always a local exhibition that sheds light on Montreal figures and Quebec life here, so if you're curious as a traveler about this city, this is one way to explore it.

Louise Wiseman

Went to a really great exhibition last summer. Well layout and put on!

Jack Fucale

Good exposition.

Rodrigo Simões Music

Very nice museo

Michel Condoroussis

The museum offers some original exhibits which change about twice a year. With entry you get to see all the exhibits so make sure you have a few hours set aside or focus on the ones that interest you most. However the reason I joined was because of the walking tours. The museum offers currently three walking tours in the city which offer a nice glimpse into the city's history, architecture and important figures. I enjoyed all three tours but for those who have less time I would go with the Ville-Marie tour which is given by Joanna. The tour is about 2 hours and Joanna is very passionate about the area and presents some really interesting details. The Golden Square Mile tour is also worth going to, it is 1 hour and takes you around the McGill campus.

Claude-Etienne Borduas

The little restaurant there has great food and impeccable service!

Jeroen Cüsters

It's a great place to learn about Canadian indigenous culture and it's sad yet resilient history. However the non-indigenous related exhibits are rather lackluster unless you are a fashion mogul, in which case I also recommend that part of the museum.

Yasmin Kowlessar

went during the free wednesday evening offering, was expecting it to be crowded or noisy and it was neither! the respect for the exhibits was maintained, and i was even able to view the main Haida exhibit.

Susan Clark

Wonderful and stunning exibits. Very informative. I was there for 5 hours. The Shalom concert outside the museum, in the Urban Forest was a really nice touch. Loved everything about the experience. Highly recommend visiting this museum.

Gary Parker

My wife presented to the Women's Art Society of Montreal in the Bombardier theatre in the McCord Museum

(Translated) Small interesting museum not to be missed in Montreal ????????

Vivin Sam

Great place local information and on First Nation traditions. Small place.

Adam Dmytriw

Accidentally stumbled upon this gem when leaving the museum of fine Arts. Definitely worth popping in, the Michel Campeau exhibit alone is worth admission.

Francoise Bernardin

Fantastic roots with Montréal's history!

Dàwéi Hēiér

Great museum to spend a few hours without your 4 years old … my daughter didn’t enjoy her time except the mechanical villages expositions.

Sylwia Ewa Elsodany

We went to the part for individual visitors. It was lots of fun. On the first floor you can find exhibition of First Nations people - everything made by hands. You can also watch videos. There is part for young kids. They can play around, read books, put on costumes, make crafts and watch interesting exhibition designed for their age. We stayed there around 4 hours and we weren't bored ! There was also birthday party. Kids had some activities with animators and we watched them with interest. I recommend the place to go along with the young children.

Céleste McNiven

Exhibits are beautifully structured. Grace jelly was my favourite.

Séverine Godet

My favorite museum in Montreal, both for the permanent exhibit and exceptional exhibits like Kent Monkman's Shame and Prejudice (April 2019).

Christian Arroyave

I reckon if there are some many children visiting the museum, why do not descriptions are targeting for they also?. Maybe to wonder about iconography or some easy to include all of us in the knowledge of.

fabmygoodness

It was interesting, especially the one about Natives. It really made me realize how small my thoughts are. It was a very emotional experience even when I tried blocking my emotions. Everyone needs to go.

Carmen Le

Wonderful time machine to go back to the past and learn about the culture. Every 1e Sunday of the month, you can profite the free entry

Michael Alinauskas

Great museum loved the Aislin cartoons, expo 67 items, illusionist and indigenous peoples artifacts. A must visit

Debbie Murphy

A must-see for visitors to Montreal. Historical photos, clothing. Not large but very interesting.

Sara Jane Friend McDonald

Excellent Dior exhibition.

Jean Philippe Launberg

Good toys exhibit with many interactive options for young kids. Interesting building as well.

Marco Jiralerspong

Ridiculous rules, crowded, bad exhibits. At least there was free Internet.

Steve Farnworth

We saw the old things from the attic exhibit. It was a wonderful reminder of our childhood

Sandrine

(Translated) I went there for the exhibit on "Native Voices of Today". I came out of it upset. What man says "civilized" has done to these peoples is unimaginable. And yet, this exhibition shows an optimism for the future. These resilient people are, without a doubt, more open than us! To see if you go through Montreal (Original) J'y suis allée pour l'exposition sur " Voix autochtones d'aujourd'hui".

Sebastian Victorica

Once in a while is a nice family program. As too often might be boring for kids

Hervé Lerebours

Stylish

Vera Buzadji

The exhibition “Dior” was so beautiful. All was nicely arranged. I thought I would stay there for 30 minutes, but I was there for 1h 30 minutes ???? Highly recommend…especially for designers for inspiration ????

Too much chicken!

Mackenley Lafortune

Great museum ! Very interesting exhibs .

elizabeth lopez

I loved this museum! We spent a good saturday afternoon here. Children loved the cartoons and the political history behind it. A fun way to look at history

Papa

Big building, small museum area

Darlene Williamson

This museum never fails me. All 3 floors have great exhibits for all ages to enjoy.

Dan F-Lynch

Not much to see here apart from a few display cases of dresses from the 1967 world expo, a number of political cartoons and a few native Canadian dresses and assorted other trinkets. Positively underwhelming for the twenty dollars they charge to get in.

Tim Cruickshank

A nice museum located centrally. I walked through quickly, when I visited weeks ago. The Indigenous art exhibit has some really beautiful pieces. The snowshoe was pretty incredible.

Navleen sandhu

Very worth it since it is free

Rinky

I think there is value on the ground floor with the history of Canada's native land. However beyond that initial peak in interest dies off. A few interesting pieces however I was in and out within 15 minutes, all three floors observed. My favourite was the crow(?) that cawed when you came closer on the third floor

Earth Graduate

Not much to see

Marissa Talbot

I saw the Illusions exhibit which was a collection of posters for magicians. Fantastic! Museum does not have a permanent collection. Small. One can walk through the entire museum in a couple of hours. Admission $20 CAD

Ohmonalisatravels

Place is beautiful, centrally located, and clean. I love the indegenious display they had, i loved learning about the Natives that populates half of Canada.

Lari Ferg

Yahya El Baba

Small musuem dedicated to the Indians canadians culture specially their clothes and way of living.

Robert Switzer

Gregory Tremblay (Greg)

A bit small, but really powerful exhibits. If you can go while the Monkman exhibit is there, do so.

Patrícia Borges Nogueira

I was really surprised with the McCord. The collection was more extensive than I expected and really well curated. Totally recommend!

Baptiste N.

Very nice muséum, and the team we worked with was a delight

Andre Rousseau

As Montrealers who want to know about our own history we liked it. I am not sure about a tourist would find it, since it contains so much detailed information that many Montrealers are not even aware of. It is nevertheless an important keeper of our history...

Maxime Vignola

Flawless experience

John Ham

Good exhibits

Maria-Helena Pacelli

I love museums. I lived in Montreal many years and never visited this one until the Kent Monkman exhibit. It was very moving and powerful and well designed. The gift shop was nice but they were very strict about everyone being out before 5pm closing time so I wasn't able to buy anything. The building was accessible.

Jeremy Anderson

Very nice museum about a variety of things! Totally recommend.

latoya deslandes

Great free exhibits

Jimmy Hristov

Good museum to see but not as big as I expected

Ludovic Maurice

Great museum with informative exhibits on canada's first nations. Tour guides were really helpful and friendly. I strongly recommend this museum to anyone visiting or anyone insterested in history.

(Translated) I enjoyed the free exhibitions. I went there with various friends. You don't really need to download the tickets, you can do it directly at the counter. Otherwise, it was very interesting. I loved the exhibit on Indigenous Peoples.

Belles expositions.

François Guignard

(Translated) We went there all family and we loved the temporary exhibitions. The children liked the exhibit on Indigenous reconciliation. The employees of the museum shop were very courteous and proactive: a product was no longer in stock, so they told me the date of arrival of the product.

Justin Davies

Great museum with mostly changing exhibits.

Anita Labelle

It has a variety of interesting objects related to native American culture as well as interesting art pieces that really make you think. However, the downside was the fact that it was very crowded and I had to wait in line for about an hour before being let into the place.. You also notice that there are no seats available at all inside the building. I saw several people standing around talking to each other while others just stood nearby looking bored. It seems like a problem the museum could easily solve by adding some chairs. Lack of seating was the only thing that I could complain about during my visit.

Nabil Naccache

Montreal history wonderfully presented.

Aurore Schilling

(Translated) Good customer service the displays for the children are very nice and I really liked the exhibit on native voices.

Ray Taylor

A gem in downtown Montreal.

Windy Poulard

The Mccord Museum is a nice place where you can learn more about other cultures. It is located in a very pretty neighborhood. I really recommend this place.

Jonathan Legault

What a great place and the kids had a good time at the fairy tale exhibit

Amanda Labourot

Super nice place with interactive experiences for the whole family. I recommend visiting on a Sunday morning if you are with child as they have gifts and entertainment customed for them + it's free for any kiddo under 12yo!

James Barrow

Very nice museum

Kitty Li

Saw the exhibitions of designer Christian Dior and political cartoonist Chapleau. Unfortunately the Indigenous Peoples attire was already closed.

Lizzie Hessek

We weren't expecting to be that interested by the clothing of the First Nations exhibit - but we could not leave the room! It was so interesting. We were less impressed by the Nine Views of Montreal exhibit, but as long as the First Nations exhibit is still downstairs, it's worth a visit!

Anastasia Kurbakovskaya

Indigenous Voices of Today exhibition is amazing -- we were lucky to catch a guided tour with Harvey which made the experience even better.

Isa Gervais

Very nice museum

Marc Bouffard

Nice museum. I found the displays a little lackluster.

Ankush Lamba

Not much to see

Alexander Ivanov

Very interesting exhibition. Will keep it in mind for the next visit to Montreal

Mel W

This is a fairly small museum. At the time I visited, there were two main exhibits and then third room housing a video art installation. One exhibit focused on Indigenous Canadian history. The exhibit contains some artifacts, but puts most of its emphasis on social perspectives regarding identity. If you are interested in more textbook history, you might find The Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History of more interest. The second exhibit was a retrospective on the career of cartoonist Serge Chapleau. The collection of his works seemed pretty thorough in that it spanned many decades and included a large selection of his works; though I will admit I am not familiar enough with his work to know if anything important was omitted. In summary, although the exhibits didn't really seem like they had much in common, I still enjoyed my trip to this museum. I went because it was free, but if they have another exhibit that interests me, I will go back.

Jake Reid

A very unique and thought provoking museum.

Rasika Burghate

Jillian Furten

The price of admission was worth it, and the architecture was nice.

A wonderful display outside the museum during the holidays. This is a department store display circa 1947. A must stop during the holidays.

Miki Emond

Okey just depends the guide

Simmy Luna

It was so beautiful !!!

Lana Ernestine

The Dior exibihit was so great! And the Chapleau one was beautiful. Bathrooms super accessible and the giftshop was cute

ANNE MACKAY MONTREAL

Love to visit here. A manageable museum

Martin Stuart

Nice museum, but rather costly admission considering the size of the exhibitions. I did really enjoy the photography of Montreal over the years, however. I found it to be a very good mix of extensive photography and popular media items from different times in the city's history. Other displays were not up to standard, in my opinion, but excellent photography exhibit.

britt

Lovely visit! The collection is small but diverse, each floor had one exhibit.

Philippe HORLAVILLE

(Translated) I went there for the exhibition on indigenous artifacts, the museum being famous for its collection. If few are exposed, it is very disappointing. The temporary exhibition on illusion was interesting, as long as you like the old posters. This is just about everything you can see there.

Douna Husin

Great museum that has a diverse array of art to enjoy in its collection. It can be tricky finding the way but there are many wings to the museum where you have to go underground to get to. Really fun and enriching experience. Also, students get free entry to the collection.

Tanya EJ

Visited the Expo 67 and the magic exhibitions. Beautifully done, i highly recommend both! Also, discount for CAA members!

Maxime Paquet

Superb museum!

Jennifer Noseworthy

This was my first visit, and I will definitely be back again! Stuck to the special Polaroid exhibit this time, but will be back for the Haida exhibit and others. Museum entry is FREE for indigenous peoples.

Serguei “Serge” Obolenski

Good place to visit

Victor LomellÍ

I loved the Balenciaga exhibit. I believe the price of admission is $19.00 I did find the permanent collection on the bottom floor to be lacking passion. I would recommend this museum. The gift show had some cute things,

dan guo

Nice place for kids to have fun, to learn, to experience, to spent time with parents.

Caroline Nadeau

(Translated) Beautiful little museum mainly relating the habits and customs of Montrealers, particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries. A part is also devoted to the natives. As it is located in the city center, parking is difficult. Free entry on Sunday. Maggie Katz

Excellent museum with in depth quality exhibits in a lovely space that is not overheated or overwhelming. Perfect for a one to two hour+ rich experience. Located on Sherbrooke across from McGill University. The small unique free and charmingly dated Redpath Museum is a 5 min walk across the street on the McGill Campus. Recommend them both.

Navin Sadarangani

A great museum to learn the history and culture of the indigenous people of Canada. The exhibitions too were awesome. Not a big museum, but it's small and very interesting. Must see. Cafe is good too. Staff was very kind and friendly. Would love to come back here for other touring exhibits.

Félix

I really enjoyed the Christian Dior exposition.

Eric Laborde

We saw the exhibition on Magic. Really nice visit, good experience :)

Lola Whonnock

The Kent Monkman exhibition was amazing.

Taras Pater

Small collection, but free/donation.

carla rincon

I really enjoyed the exposition about the first nations people of Canada. I strongly recommend to go on a sunny day to enjoy the art pieces on the street at the side of the museum.

Michael Evershed

A smaller but very focused (and kid friendly) museum. I'd bump it to four stars if you can visit on a reduced rate (museum pass or free night) or take advantage of the children's workshops.

Suzanne Paradis

(Translated) I really liked the new permanent exhibition "Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resilience". (Original) J'ai beaucoup aimé la nouvelle exposition permanente "Voix autochtones d'aujourd'hui : savoir, trauma, résilience".

Globule Agrumes

One of the finest museums in this town, with collections of artefacts telling the story of the inhabitants of various eras.

Pascal Jacquin

(Translated) Very warm museum with very helpful staff. The exhibition "Indigenous Voices of Today" is a must-see.

This is a small museum near McGill that doesn’t require a big time commitment to visit. Admission is free October 13, 2021 to January 19th 2022.

Jem Bayangan Orcino

Great experience, I've learned something new about the best known cartoonist in Québec.

Thomas Bichler

Nice little museum but far away from "one of the most outstanding historical museums in north america" how it was described in the guide. The collection on the history on Montréal is very nice and based on a well outlined structure. All-in-all quite expensive for what you get. But they have interesting changing exhibitions.

Elaine Shu

I believe we could have saved money with visited to McCord museum and Jewish museum (please check). I really enjoyed the special fashion display and the history of Jewish immigrants in Montreal.

Benjamin Homaii, P.Eng.

Quite nice museum with exquisite exhibitions.

Mahmud Jefferson

Nice recreational park

J Mitchell

Interesting

Ryan Campbell

The price was free so can't complain about that. I would not spend 40 dollars here during the non promotion time. The first floor exhibit was awesome but the clothing exhibit we were not into. Nice and clean facility, very kind staff.

Jason O'Malley

Interesting small museum with rotating exhibits. Well curated choices. When I was there were 4 exhibits -a permanent first people clothing, a haute couture, Jewish impact on Montreal, and a portrait photography exhibit. I thought the price was a bit high for the size of the galleries, but someone with a deeper interest in these exhibits might find it well worth it.

Noémie Arbour

Kent Monkman's exposition will charmed anybody's eyes. If you studied art, you'll find reference to other artists and, for those who doesn't know a thing about art, you'll still love and understand the artist's work.

Allen Shaw

Wonderful museum and wonderful exhibits!

Fred Gattuso

Best museum in the city !!!

Gianni Barberi

This museum is always a treat. It is the hottest club in Montreal. It has everything. Fashion. History. A chic, quiet, too cool aura. The haunted whispers of the spirits wandering its modern but tormented halls. A range of interesting and weird exhibits to set your strange little heart a flame. There are also books in the gift shop. In all seriousness: The exhibits are well curated, the museum staff is wonderful and helpful, and its a quiet, cool place to enjoy an afternoon.

Tony Fecteau

I always keep an eye on the events here. Some of the events are incredible.

Roy K. Nelson

A must see for all Montrealers and visitors alike!

Sarah El Khazen

it was fine

Olivia

I came here for the Dior Expo, I discovered Chapleau's work here. I'm delited, I had I few good laughs very inapropried for a museum but this man kept me smiling the whole time - too bad the mouth cover didn't let me show, I'm sure the rest of the people around me were smiling as well. I haven't been in a whole lot of expositions that make me leave with such feeling of enjoyment. The Dior exposition was very beautiful, and gave me a strange feeling of longing. But Chapleau stole my heart.

Gala Ribina

Love it when they get fashion expos from Victoria and Albert museum in London.

Joe Dix

A great sense of the history of Montreal. The tableau on the main and lower floors were enlightening. The glass etchings, stories and smells from the Great War are unforgettable. Plan to spend time in the rooms. The top floor exhibit send to much an afterthought...

Martine Jetté

Went for Dior and loved it. Even with the pandemic, it was perfectly organized and we loved all the exhibitions. Wonderful place!

Anda Wang

Balanciaga

Samantha Bell

Both the Dior and Chapleau exhibitions were fantastic. Explores specific mid-century histories of Dior and excellent selection of day and evening dresses. Both exhibits connect to local history. Wonderful way to spend an hour or two in Montreal.

(Translated) Permanent exhibition on indigenous peoples. Very moving, leaves a reflection on the difficult work of recognition and reparation of past injustices.

Matthew Roberts

It was okay and worth doing but the art museum was better.

Christian Martinez Gil

Beautiful.

Jean-Felix Leclaire

The museum offers some original exhibits which change about twice a year. With entry you get to see all the exhibits so make sure you have a few hours set aside or focus on the ones that interest you most. However the reason I joined was because of the walking tours. The museum offers currently three walking tours in the city which offer a nice glimpse into the city's history, architecture and important figures. I enjoyed all three tours but for those who have less time I would go with the Ville-Marie tour which is given by Joanna.

Alejandra Vásquez Díaz

Expensive "museum", not really that much to see.

Nabil Aïssani

(Translated) Exhibition theme quite consistent, and very rewarding. There is a permanent exhibition at the first level entitled: Wearing Your Identity, which deals with the history of the First Nations, and the importance of the clothing worn to reflect your identity. But also, The project Polaroid a combination between the technological tool and the artistic creation that this tool allowed to reach, the exhibition will end on September 15th, to see absolutely. But also, there are Hannah Claus and Haida, two other exhibitions, just as attractive, always related to the First Nations, respectively, moon speaks of sensory and visual sensations, which connects the past, present and future, and Haida This culture, which almost disappears, presents various historical objects of art of this people. For my part, I strongly recommend this immersion within this story that is the evolution through the ages, the indigenous culture through the polaroid and unusual discoveries of the Haida, what more.

Rainer Schmidt

I was very disappointed. Only a small exposition on the first nation. No further items on the history of Montreal. Instead temporary expositions not worth the 20$ entrance.

Mark Beauchamp

Great museum if there is an exhibit you want to see.

Steve Edwards - Sitivi

this museum is a staple never to be missed.

Alyssa Belanger

Great little museum for adults and kids. We did the 2 museums with one ticket, would definitely recommend if you are also interested in the Stewart museum. You have 30 days to visit so no rush either, which ia great.

Fernanda Nicoli

Pros: interesting, diverse and well curated exhibitions. Cons: small and expensive.

Fabien Jeanneret

The First Nations exhibition was very interesting

Jacinthe Lachance

(Translated) I love this museum. Fashion and photo exhibitions are always very well put together!

Great places for small social history collections. It's kinda expensive for the casual visitor (1 to 3 hrs for skimming the exhibits). They have a kids activity area for coloring and small crafts. The museum also runs a day camp for kids.

Heather Li

The price was right - FREE! The exhibit about indigenous people was phenomenal. All of the artifacts were so interesting to inspect. The Parachute exhibit was EVERYTHING! The AV elements of the Parachute exhibit made it that much better!

Bram Blenk

Excellent little museum. Very interesting display on native clothing and we very much enjoyed the display of childrens toys from the victorian period onwards. They have an excellent collection of early photography as well.

David G

Great to visit with the kids. Fun for the whole family.

Matthew Cheung

It’s ok I feel like, more for people in to creative arts

Marzieh Hemati

Nice experience.

Colin Rier

Balenciaga and shalom are both fantastic

Greta R

This is my least favorite museum in Montreal. It's only worth to go if you're really interested in the major exhibition because that's basically the whole museum. It's really small and overpriced so I recommend going on Wednesday evening and pay the reduced admission fee (with the free admission you only have access to one or two small exhibitions).

Mona Hooshan

Intersting first nations history. Good Guides

Marian Zamfir-Enache

High-professionally arranged exhibitions, exciting topics, lovely space

Wonderful place to visit

Trina Toups

Expensive for a few small galleries.

Max Smith

I particularly enjoyed the Kent Monkman exhibit, well worth the visit!

Nancy Fhima

Amazing experience!!! Joanna kept our kids captivated. Thank you

T. Schmidli

The "fashion" museum of Montreal. They deal with historic clothing and textiles, from modern Canadian and International, to historical First Nation garments, their permanent collection is interesting, as are their temporary expositions. The museum can be a bit on the dry side, if you are less interested in fashion and more interested in actual history. All in all, it's nice to visit it at least once.

Olivier Millat

(Translated) they charge the full price when all the permanent exhibition is missing ... $ 20 for a 30-minute visit ... …

Émilie Chan

Enjoyed the Dior Exhibit!! Go while you still can!!!

Ol Lis

Nice, cozy place with an atmosphere of the First Nation spirit. If tired you can take a rest there :)

Exhibitions ranging from Montreal history, first Nations which includes a totem pole in the museum which can be appreciated from all floors reminds us all of our connection to nature. An eclectic variety of subject matter including Christian Dior which has been extended until September.

Sean Collington

Well worth a visit. Great exhibits.

Krystyna Piech

Good exhibit on Quebec's Indigenous people.

Jean-Marc Cote

Friendly people

Expensive for what it offers, the expositions are not offering much. There are a lot more to see in Mtl, don’t waste your time or money.

(Translated) This is a fairly large and interesting museum. The permanent exhibit on Indigenous voices is certainly the most touching I have seen on the subject. The one on the Parachute company is also quite surprising and brings us back to a bygone era. The exhibition on Chapleau reminds us of his talent, but also of how technology has killed his creativity and the beauty of his works. When at the exhibition: Exquisite score. She is ridiculously unnamed. Strongly its withdrawal on February 27 ...

Roslyn Common

Wonderful exposition of Serge Chapleau's cartoons, spent the whole time laughing!!

This museum was okay. It's a quick visit museum. Toy part is cool. I recommend but take it for what it is

Kailee

Funny garden classified with difference functions. Love it

Kaitlyn Pilloud

BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED EXHIBITS. Great museum with a lot of variety in it's content.

Upen R

Good works, but not sure if that alone is worth the entry fee.

Lauren Chaurette

Exhibit was great but it was frustrating to pay the fee to see the major exhibit on Free Wednesday Night only to find many who didn’t have the identifying badge wandering through the exhibit. Pay someone to stand at the entrance so those of us who support the arts aren’t robbed.

Jennifer Wheeler

Amazing experience for Balenciaga exhibition. Not only is the content visually incredible but the interpretation and participation was so well put together

Jess Amiot

OK

Siew Paiyuen

Love the Balenciaga exhibition!!

The indigenous voices exhibit was powerful and well worth seeing. In fact, this exhibit should be compulsory to everyone

Sheku Bell

Laurette Bilodeau

Went to see Aislin exhibition, great little exhibit,I expected a bit more for 50 years of drawing.

Charles Vyvial

We visited the Jewish Montreal exhibit which was underwhelming.

Andrew Zimbel

The McCord Museum is a little gem of a museum. I learned the museum is home to a Political Cartoon Collection. We went to a talk with Terry Mosher know as Aislin and then had a walk with him of his show on the third floor. It was a wonderful morning and I learned a lot. I would recommend the exhibit and the museum.

(Translated) A great Quebec designer. For Montrealers, some participating museums are free every first Sunday of the month. This is the case of the McCord Museum. This free is not limited to the permanent collection but covers all exhibitions. I took the opportunity to see the exhibition on Jean-Claude Poitras, one of the greatest couturiers in Quebec. After Gautier and Couturissime (Thierry Mugler) at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, it seems that curators have (re) discovered that haute couture is also a high-level art. This is the case for the pieces presented at the McCord. Great outfits that sign the elegance that have always been the collections of Mr. Poitras. His years 1993-1994 are particularly rich. Jean-Claude Poitras donated most of his collections to the Musée de la civilization in Quebec; an exchange with McCord presents them to Montrealers. A success! The museum also exhibits a fresco of Aboriginal Peoples Canadian, very informative with a denunciation side of the notorious Indian Act. A very original slideshow also presents 19th century Montreal, both in winter and in summer. What is striking is the omnipresence of English unilingualism on almost all retail and commercial signs of the time. Fortunately, Montreal has moved in the right direction. Thanks to Bill 101!

Nice museum, especially if you like fashion or couture. I saw the Thierry Mugler exhibit some years ago and the Christian Dior exhibit this week. Very interesting, informative, and very beautiful, but the placement of some of the security sensors and some of the TVs or information panels didn’t make sense. All day, people were accidentally tripping the security sensors the whole time because they’d turn and back up to read something written on the wall or on a TV screen and there wouldn’t be enough space for them to do it without tripping the sensors. As a result, there were annoying alarm sounds going off nearly constantly. Increasing the width of the “hallways” between items would help with this. Wasn’t as big a fan of the other exhibits. One was for a caricaturist, and was more interesting because of the Quebec political history depicted than for the caricatures. The indigenous exhibit was more interesting, lots of cool pieces, but quite small as an exhibit. The exhibit on the top floor with birds was VERY small… I thought there must be more but nope, that was it!

Shahram Kianseresht

Excellent exposition, very intelligent guides

Justin J.R.

Lovely museum and hoping the indigenous section would be made permanent, however I wish they would implement a policy where they try to minimize noise because a lot of people (mostly those annoying kids from nearby McGill) would talk loudly or go on their phones and then you can’t even hear yourself or the short clips you’re watching.

Gabrielle Henry

A well laid out and organized museum.

Patricia Bassanese

We went to see the Balenciaga and Shalom exhibition on a Wednesday evening when price is reduced 50%. Exhibits are not worth paying full price.

Shannon Ruiz

Great publicity, but a bit lacking in volume. Wish there had been more interactive displays.

Anthony Edwards

The day we visited they had three exhibits: wearing our identity, treasures in the Attic, and Marissa Portolese. the first exhibit was about the first peoples of Canada and tied their history to their clothing - very interesting. The second exhibit was about toys from the 20th century with an interactive room for kids to play with toys. The third room look closely at the photographic portraits by Marissa Portolese and her homage to William Notman - very artsy.

genevieve minville

If you are going on a free entry day (Wednesday after 5pm) do buy tickets to any special paid exhibitions that might be on as otherwise the free portion is rather very small and you will not get to see much.

Disappointing. This is not a Canadian history museum. The main exhibition is very small.

Great reservation system, book your spot in advance and give your name at the front desk! Limited number of tickets sold for every 15 min helps controlling the crowd.

It was a nice experience, they're following the covid protocol and well organised.

Alex Shipaluk

Just decent enough.

My wife and I went to this museum specifically to see the Eleganzza exhibit. Thankfully we chose to do so on a Wednesday after 5pm when general admission to the museum is free. We did pay the $10 each to see the featured exhibit only to be seriously disappointed by what we would discover. The exhibit itself is beautiful, however, for whatever reason, NO PICTURES of the eleganzza exhibit are permitted whatsoever, which defeats the purpose of going to a museum. The staff were very much overbearing in this. I personally witnessed someone checking a text message and the staff "photo cop' was all over them. I saw men sit on the chairs in the final room of the exhibit lining a runway, apparently part of the exhibit, and again, the staff were not allowing men to sit in those chairs, however, women were more than welcome to do so, even when there was nobody sitting in them. The entire purpose of our visit was the eleganzza exhibit, and not being permitted to take pictures, and being expected to purchase a $55 book about the exhibit that does NOT show anywhere near what is on display is unreasonable. The remaining exhibits are just as much a waste of time. NOT worth normal admission fees of $20 + fees for special exhibits let alone the $10 each fee we paid for a highly disappointing exhibit.

Rachel Green

three wonderful exhibits right now, Robert Walker's Griffintown photos, Dior, and Chapleau. the McCord folks are careful about mask-wearing, social distancing and sanitizing hands. well worth the price of admission!

Terry Koks

Loved the exhibit on Parachute

Leslye Lang

I loved this show! I'm 70% bilingual and 'got' virtually everything. I was so happy to learn about Laflaque, a brilliant show that was running on Quebec TV for years. Chapeau is mulit-talented: I knew about his drawings, but didn't know that he made a TV show, sculptures, etc etc. If you are a Montrealer or a Quebecer, don't miss this show!

Ian Metzger

Quite a small museum but the 2 exhibits were interesting and well put together.

Japanese C. M.

It's a small museum although it's much bigger than it looks from their front appearance. (It feels small especially after visiting a place like the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, which is in a walkable distance on the same street.) The best part is their special exhibition. They have a relatively large screening room, and they sometimes show really interesting documentary movies that you cannot find on the Internet. You have to check their website in advance and only target a movie of your interests.

I needed more time. I only saw two if the four exhibits. Wonderful videos. Because of angle and lighting, some description cards were hard to read.

Merissa Lombardo

Visited on Wednesday after 5pm where some of the exhibits are free. The Indigenous Voices Today exhibit was moving and powerful. Would highly recommend checking this out. The store had some nice items.

Juliette Fong

Pleasant personable staff, clear signage/directions and taking all Covid precautions

Sebastien Tremblay

Overal, for adults unless there are specific activities for young childen. Very nicely organised

heather fitzgerald

The Ogilvy windows! Lovely museum; impressive Native exhibit; staggered entry times so never too crowded Will go back!

Francesco Cerlini

This small museum has a very nice permanent exposition concerning "l'heritage des Premiers Peuples", which is very interesting and a must if you want to understand the identity problem of the native Canadians. Also the temporary Haida exhibition is beautiful.

Barry Rolbin

Nice permanent exhibits but expensive

Nathan Marshall

Cute little museum, it being free was a welcome surprise

Dawn Marie Hayes

Polaroid exhibit was amazing.

jasmine Badr El Dean

It is a lovely place where you get to learn alot about the social history in Montreal. The exhibits vary so each would communicate best about the era and area it is talking about.

Massimo Ciamberlano

Great museum. The Balenciaga exhibit was amazing. The restaurant is currently closed.

Greg Tarr

The ground floor has an amazing exhibition providing insight into the systemic mistreatment of native american population at the hands of European colonists as they formed contemporary Canada.

mridgen

Great space and well-chosen exhibits

Alexis Paralitici

Nice building.

r escaravage

Nice museum right down town . I've been there a few time with and without my kids. It's a must vist for anyone from Montreal or from out of town .

Houssem Ellouze

Cool

Bill Bomik

Wonderful time at the museum. Beautiful lithographs of great magicians of yesteryear.

Jeff sadowski

I think this was the art gallery one. I went in and know nothing about art. There was an English tour and people around me seemed really interested. I don't get it but the paintings were amusing to me.

Karentina hernandlavsky

Great way to learn the history of Montreal.

Jeffrey Horwitz

The Polaroid temporary exhibit was well done. There is an interesting section on native people's from Western Canada. The charge of 38 dollars for a family for the limited exhibits available is excessive. There is another floor for temporary exhibits which is closed

Sek Woner

Loved the "Illusions: The Art of Magic" exhibit!!!!

avery waxman

Overpriced

daniel miranda

Amazing place. Learned a lot.

Wayne Wood

We went for a family lunch. The food was excellent but the service was too slow for a working person on a limited lunch hour.

Federica Milanese

Great experience. Don't agree with the other reviews saying it's a small place, therefore it's not good. It's a good quality historical attraction

Meghna Patel

Beautiful little museum. Great special exhibitions and great for a quick visit . Perfect for kids too since it’s small enough and you don’t necessarily need to spend a full day there to see it all

Nathaniel Williams

Very small collection for the price of admission

Jane Vigliotti

Very informative guides!

Dongjoon Lim

Overpriced. Not a lot of exhibitions.

Frank Wu

Some good art collection of first nationot, but not so impressed, as collection and floor space are very limited

Long Pham

Oh no, its not worth it, dont listen to other people tell you that its worth it, its a scam. I sit there try to warn people but no one listen, and end up losing money to this fake museum! Please love your money, love your time!

David Udelf

Very nice special exhibits.

Xavier D.S.

Went there several times. Wonderful exhibits, although it can get pretty crowded..

melanie jolivet

3 expositions super intéressantes et fascinante.

Jen Bridgman

Wonderful experience.

Sean Lew

It is a small museum, but enough to keep you busy for a few hours. It was free for the celebrations of it's anniversary, so it was a bit crowded, but they have very good and enforced crowd controls with controls limited bookings per hour. There are the very education exhibitions on indigenous culture and history, and more.

Heidi Ash

As a visitor to Montreal, I have had the pleasure of attending exhibits at the McCord in 2017 and 2018. This museum is quite unique, it differs from many traditional museum as it does not just display objects, but tells stories. And it tells them with a great mixture of artifacts, printed material, interactive technology and obvious care. Well done, McCord Museum! Looking forward to the stories you will share in the future.

Ankit Saint

Well maintained exhibition but currently the permanent exhibits are under renovation.

Naji Hantouche

I liked the section about the indigenous people in Canada and their history. I liked the stories behind each of their items exposed...

Marie Yolene Paul

Good experience.

Sobhan Mohammadpour

Great guide fascinating book expo

Kevin L

I went to McCord Museum to see it's Indigenous exhibit that also related to reconciliation. It was incredible... maybe to incredible, it was hard to stop tearing up. They lost out on a star due to need for tissues and a safe space for triggering material.

Me Texan

Poor collection

Rinky Sharma

I think there is value on the ground floor with the history of Canada's native land. However beyond that initial peak in interest dies off. A few interesting pieces however I was in and out within 15 minutes, all three floors observed. My favourite was the crow(?) that cawed when you came closer on the third floor

S Pock

Go on Wednesday for free entry

BN

Not much "history" to see ! High admission price for few limited ordinary expositions ($20).

Christine

Smaller museum. Temporary exhibit of photos of Montreal's art scene in the 60s was a real snooze fest for us but the First Nations, Metis and Inuit section was fantastic! Good to have the video and audio clips to hear the people themselves, in addition to the beautiful and interesting pieces.

Y M

Nice building, ok collection.

Coralie Girard

Julie Beauparlant

Really nice. I enjoyed the aboriginal exposition.

Donald Gibbs

Great exhibits but some of the cases look dated and they need bigger information labels

ted wilson

Great intimatehands on museum

Janece Howell-Morgan

The kids loved Topsy-Turvy!

Learning through Play

Great expedition kids loved it!

Andrea Scales

Totally enjoyed the caricatures. A must see for anyone who enjoys poking a little fun at celebrities. If you get the chance go.

Eric T

Beautiful museum in a beautiful old building!

Eileen Lavery

Wonderfully curated exhibits

Benoit Ducasse

(Translated) Beautiful area. To visit if an exhibition interests you. Urban place very good. On the other hand, a pity that the permanent exhibition of Montreal is no longer there :( (Original) Très bel endroit.

Daniel Reiniger

Free 1 st Sunday of the month.

Free 1 st Sunday of the month.

Mary D.

I learned so much - history of Canada; and the Haida presentation rich, heart-wrenching to see what these people were put through, yet their strength. Staff happily informative. Smaller museum worth one's time.

Lei Morgan

Small museum with nice expos. Free on the 1st Sunday of the month and on Wednesday evening it is free for the normal expo and cheaper for major exhibitions.

Hadrien B.

Fun events held there every few months. Too bad the organization inside is always a mess.

Orlando Reeves

Great exhibition on indigenous people of Canada and racial inequality in the past and now.

LLOYD GRAUMAN

Wonderful.

Manish Rajguru

Had interesting artifacts in first people, as well as some nice exhibits. Small, so only need a few hours. Get the free tour.

Amanda Maginley

I love it.

Holly J

A little expensive but a nicely organized museum. Good Haida exhibition
