(Translated) We discover another face of Montreal and its history. The face of poverty and misery, but also simplicity and hidden beauty.

(Translated) With the permanent exhibition, you can learn a lot about the living conditions at the time. And we understand how lucky we are to live in more pleasant, less painful times, thanks in part to social movements and social organizations. Very enriching museum! The temporary exhibition by artist André Michel, the exhibition Nomads or itinerants - Peoples in danger is beautiful both from a social and artistic point of view. To learn more about it and the artist, booklets are available in the exhibition.

This is an informative local museum with an opinionated look at the history of the Centre-Sud neighbourhood of Montréal over more than two centuries, in all of its dynamic complexity. Housed in a beautiful open refurbished space once a public bathhouse, the permanent displays are on the second level while art exhibits are on the first level. Well worth it.

(Translated) I went there when there was only the permanent exhibition, for the low price and the information you can find there I enjoyed my visit! Nice museum in an area of Montreal where major change over the last 45 years took its toll. A must see for architecture lovers as the building once was an indoor pool. Always good architectural literature on Montreal past availiable and photos of what this are once looked like. Many expositions that change over time.
