(Translated) An enchantment! I was really pleased to visit Château Ramezay, which does not look good from the outside. It is still part of the list of 1001 sites to visit in the world! It looks small but I took 2:30 to go around because there is a lot to see, very interesting videos and many fun games for adults and children. The tour is very well done and takes us in the history of this monument so important to the history of Canada, Montreal and Quebec. A favorite for the War Flowers exhibition that was presented, it was very moving. I shed a small tear in front of almost all the modules and find myself in the middle of the 68000 names of the victims of the war ... Just Wahoo! A very busy atmosphere but an important memory duty. It was conducted brilliantly so a big congratulations and thank you for allowing us to see that. (Original) Un enchantement!

(Translated) To do when you visit Old Montreal. Guided tour ultra interesting because made by an enthusiast to the extent of impressive knowledge so that we can lose the thread. Many dates, events that can quickly wear out the less history buffs. Nice place. (Original) A faire quand on visite le vieux Montréal. Head in the clouds

(Translated) The visit was very disappointing. I have been to Chateau Ramzay several times. I loved it every time. Except this time ... A lot of items have been removed. There was almost nothing to see. The entire kitchen area is almost empty apart from a folding table and a few artifacts. There are interactive stations in every room that are absolutely unnecessary for 11-year-olds who really don't have the patience to listen to all this talk. Children need to SEE and that we answer the questions they have but making them listen to stories for hours does not captivate them: Mum we go to the museum to see things, there is nothing here, we can go?" The museum exhibits various objects that are not normally exhibited. They do rotations. These are to be forgotten in my opinion.

(Translated) House-museum of human size. Sympathetically arranged, the audio documents are well done as are the comments to read in both languages. We go from room to room while progressing chronologically in the history of Quebec, portraits of characters with names of boulevards, objects of olden days, touching documents. The exhibition (in May 2019) is being redesigned in the lower part of the house, it's frustrating of course. The garden is very cool (Original) Maison-musée de taille humaine.

(Translated) Nice place. I visited it quickly during a children's party organized on site. The activities were enjoyed by the children. Mostly dress up and write with feathers. On the other hand, I really want to go back to see the museum in its entirety. (Original) Belle place. Very nice museum, right in Old Montreal, steps from the Old Port. The main floor has a lot of artifacts from the when Mr. Ramezay would have been alive, including some really old legal tender from before the Bank of Canada issued legal tender. For me though, the real beauty was in a few of the first rooms you enter. The detailed wood panelling on the walls were hand carved! I'm a bit confused about their origins though as they were brought into Château Ramezay at a later date, so possibly not original. In any case, very beautiful rooms. On the basement level the walls and ceilings had a very different look and feel, and almost seemed more like what I'd expect from that era. The basement is also staged like what it would have been like at that time, so you can imagine yourself there at that time, and what it might have been like. We went during the pandemic, on a Sunday morning, and we had the place to ourselves as well, so that was wonderful. If you're going to visit, I'd highly suggest a Sunday morning if you want the place to yourself... Well, at least during the pandemic where foot traffic is likely to be less. We visited a bit early in the year, so the gardens behind the château aren't blooming yet, however the gardens are free to visit any time for anyone, no tickets required, so we'll go back in a month or so to check them out. All in all, nice château and museum, and the tickets are cheap, so I'd say worth the visit!

We visited this museum in our trip to Montreal. The reception personnel were friendly and helpful. The museum itself worth visiting. It took less than an hour for us to see all the rooms, the architecture for a residential place looked nice. There is a tiny garden behind the building as well.

It is in the heart of Montreal. Not a destination, but more of a stopoff or respite from 21st century living. The gardens in the summer are beautiful. A reminder of a self-sustaining civilization from centuries ago.

Informative museum with different rooms/exhibits. A UNESCO 1001 Historic Site "Must See Before You Die". Out of 1001 historic sites, only 14 Canadian sites were selected (2010), so that's pretty special. The museum has preserved the home and grounds to allow visitors a glimpse into what life was like when it was occupied in the 1700s. There are unique aretfacts, a panelled room with paintings and lavish decor, a recreation of sleeping and kitchen chambers giving insight into daily life, and the expansive and beautiful garden. (Translated) This museum is very interesting both for those who do not know the history of Montreal as for those who do. Being passionate about history and knowing it rather well, this museum gave me to see objects, paintings, maps that I had never seen before concerning the history of this city. It allowed me to consolidate achievements and also to learn some interesting facts in the process. The rooms follow one another in a linear and chronological fashion in the history of Montreal, passing as suggested by the title of the exhibition from Hochelaga, to Ville-Marie, from Ville-Marie to Montreal, and from old Montreal to from yesterday. It is therefore a beautiful journey through approximately 500 years of history which starts from Amerindian prehistory. It is a very interesting museum for the whole family. Not having done the guided tour, I cannot comment on it. In the vault of the castle, an exhibition entitled La vie de Château: Grandeurs et miseries en Nouvelle-France allows you to imagine what daily life in Montreal must have looked like in the 18th century under the French regime. It is also a place that can be very enjoyable for children because there are interactive games and associations.

There is a section at the bottom reconstituting the different rooms of the house and how people lived at the time. There is also a nice garden at the back with all the local vegies!

A very good museum about the early life of the Upper Class in New France, housed out of Chateau Ramezay, the original Governor's House in Montreal. Here you'll learn about the lifestyle of those living in New France, and take in a number of artifacts from the era, and up to the present day, showing how Montreal changed over time. On the second floor was a bread-making workshop, where visitors can try their hand at making bread in the traditional manner of the settlers, and even taste it after it is finished baking. Kids will have fun with this activity, and a number of other areas feature kid-friendly content. Definitely worth a visit!

The chateau itself was a bit of a disappointment. The exhibits are okay. Also as you approach the chateau there is a small garden area with plack identifying it as governor's garden. When we left we noticed a larger fenced garden. It would have been nice for staff to let us know how to access the gardens as there was no indication or information on "map".

The place was nice but I did not enjoy it because of the tour guide. She was a lady with red hair. She explained only and did not allow us to speak. It was always as obsessive as if we were in a forbidden history lesson. We did not see much. She only took us where she wanted to explain.

The ground floor is organized chronologically, outlining the history of Canada with a backbone provided by events in the building itself. It's a sweeping picture, supported by many artifacts, but for me it was lacking enough detail to connect the events into a story. The basement concentrates on life in the time of gouverneur Ramezay, and I found it much more lively and informative... The displays have little audio presentations available... But also a "more information" button that can keep you reading for hours!

It's nice, lots of history of the home and its connection to Montreal history. I went here out of a recommendation, nice place to see if you have time, not the top of the city's sights in my opinion. Definitely swing by if you have two hours to spare and are interested in the early and post-colonial history of Montreal. The artifacts and exhibits take you back to the city's founding and highlight the most important events in its history. The building itself is historic, starting out as the home of a former governor (after which the museum is named) and later converted to a wartime headquarters and then a university facility. For a building that is more than 300 years old, it looks remarkably intact and well maintained. Before leaving, be sure to check out the beautiful garden at the back of the museum. The museum charges an admission fee ($11 when we visited). There are restrooms and a small gift shop on site.

The museum itself is the preserved home of a known Canadian figure, Ramezay. The layout is circuit like in structure, that is, the tour begins and finishes at the same location. As you enter and exit rooms you follow a circular pattern. The museum has been refurbished many times so all of the original artifacts and architecture are gone. In its place are diaromas, paintings, and furniture acquired centuries later (think 1900's). The tour can be co plates in 20 minutes in your own, with the tour guide an hour. The place was not what we expected. Most rude moment occurred when someone in my travel group was accused by an employee of stealing candy from the gift shop even though they had literally just purchased it and were in the middle of eating it. The cashier had to tell him they had just purchased it. He was not apologetic enough in our opinion. Totally set a ride tone to the trip.
