We've got all the information of people who bought the services and products of Canadian Railway Museum (Museum) in Beloeil (Canada).
Now the firm has a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is nearly the highest, and it is founded on a very large number of scores, so we may conclude that the score is quite credible. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to give evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Museum belongs to the category of History museum.
Your younger kid(s) will love this place, and adults will find it interesting too. There are plenty of trains, and within some of them are play rooms for kids 10 and under. The grounds are very large. In addition to the main building there are train storage buildings that can sometimes be viewed. There is a cafe/restaurant on site and a smaller IMAX theatre as well.
If you have child I recommend to go there it amazing place
Nice outing with the kids (4 and 7). Both kids enjoyed exploring the trains that you're allowed to enter. They also really enjoyed the ride on the miniature train! Nice to see the history behind the railway beyond the common knowledge. Was a nice family outing.
(Translated) Beautiful place to discover our railway history. Various activities for young children. (Original) Belle place pour découvrir notre histoire ferroviaire. Activités diverses pour les jeunes enfants.
Great museum! Really cool to see the history of the Canadian railway and be reminded just how massive trains are. Great for kids that are a bit older - toddlers would probably get bored pretty quickly. The tramway/train ride pauses for lunch which didn't work out for us - we were really looking forward to a ride!
A super impressive museum, clean, organized, with excellent staff!!
(Translated) Very good and very impressive, on the other hand it takes at least 3 hours to do the tour properly. This activity is not suitable for children under 8 in my opinion. The activity remains too expensive for my taste.
Great loved the location and trains
Quebec's best kept secret for train lovers
Fantastic place to bring kids and family. They bring new trains every time we come. Quality of exhibition is very high. They have real trains and model trains.
Love this place!
I was impressed with the selection of trains and we only had access to one hangar..the ability to walk up and see the inside...great family fun...and if your a train enthusiast this is a must see.
Great museum for kids and adults alike. Wonderful, fully restored static displays inside main building, quite a few offering access to the inside of the display. Displays show steam, diesel and electric motive power. Don't miss the trolly ride along with the diesel train. Fully bilingual. Don't let your lack of French stop you, n'est pas?
Good staff, mostly bilingual from what I could tell. My 3 year old love trains ,and really enjoyed the museum.
nice place
Good old train fun for all people of all ages
Super interesting and informative
Nice place to spent 2-3 hours with kids, unfortunately almost all the trains are closed, so can not see them inside. The good thing is that you can have a small tour around the place in the historic open train!
Great place to take the kids.
Epic place to learn the railway history
The place is big enough so that everyone is comfortable, has space and do not feel cramped. The history there is amazing and is good for children, as you can get on some actual old train carriage/trolleys. The logistics are OK for children, now it would be a bit tough to visit everything if I was disabled. Finally, the prices are decent for the entry fee, the food and the gift store.
Organized and full of history! A must go place.
Very cool to see all the old cars and engines. There is also a small section with a model railway. I would have liked to see some old maps that show older routes that maybe don't exist anymore but there was a section of the museum under construction so maybe that's where the maps and more reading material would have been.
Nice place for kids and adults. Loved the mini train
Inspiring
Great place to see more than 150 years of Canadian railway history.
A must. .a bit out of the way. ..
We visit the museum in winter, they have different types of trains, some of them open for visits and another are not. Great place for kids.
(Translated) Interesting visit regarding the diversity of equipment and locomotives in the museum. Several trains, trams or locomotives are in working order and we were treated to the swing bridge (by hand!) History to surprise visitors. The mini train ride is really fun for the kids (and the older ones) and the speed is such that our hair blows in the wind !. Very interesting museum tons of absolutely amazing stuff to see Mini train ride was amazing for the kids... And the adults ????????
Great for adults and kids. Good, concise historical explanations (in both languages), lots of trains you can go inside, and great staff. Prices are reasonable, and our two-year-old loved it.
Good place for train loving kids.
(Translated) It's such a beautiful museum. We go there several times a year. However, we noticed the lack of enough major maintenance in sections where children play. And when I mention lack of maintenance I speak cleaning objects or locations made available to them. Otherwise the staff is always courteous and trains are wonderful.
(Translated) Always a great pleasure to return to the exporail! It was not our first visit and it will certainly not be the last. This time there was a DeLorean show at the same time and even a mini shoot! The trains are very well kept by attentive staff and the owner is great. Ability to transfer Morse code messages to other train station no more pick them up, kids love it! There is also a great model with functional little train and a sense of humor!
Great place for the Kids and Gradparents. Nice train rides
Really nice, but you must see outdoor attractions before the indoor ones, because those close earlier
Kids had a great time!
Great history in this place. Some things would need a little freshening up. For instance many of the information kiosks where you push a button and the kids can interact, were either shut off or not working. The giftshop left much to be desired, I was not impressed with their lack of choices but also the quality of the merchandise. The trains are amazing to stand next to and the 3 trains that you can ride on were fun but in need of lots of tlc.
Great place to visit and learn about trains and their history.
Good place to visit with the family.
So many historic trains!
Wonderful place
(Translated) Museum very rewarding. Friendly staff. It takes the day to take the time to go around, visit and enjoy the 3 train rides available. Viewing the movie "The Rockies Express" is worth the extra bit. (Original) Musée très enrichissant. Personnel accueillant.
Great place to spend a couple of hours. They have around 40 locomotives and passenger cars (on some you can go inside and explore) in the main building and another 20 in another building. Also a couple of areas for kids and a mini train ride. You can take an outside tour in an old streetcar and they have some movies you can watch. Small lunch area and a great gift shop. Definitely a must see for railway enthusiasts! :)
Wonderful selection of relics from the past, very informative and entertaining.
I've always loved trains, so I had a great day exploring this museum. They have a large collection of trains and very informative exhibits about the history of trains in Canada.
Very short drive from Montreal. A must see. Has the largest collection of trains I've ever seen
Was a great experience, lots of stuff to look at, great ambiance. We even caught a ghost on cam in the grey caboose ;) or at least something that looks like it!
Wow! Super museum
(Translated) Super nice place to spend a day with the children. The possibility of taking a train ride is really a plus.
High fees, we pay 56$ for 2 adult and one kid. Restaurant does not open at that time. Around 20 lines of train. There is oil smell in the building from old train, so let consider to bring your small kid. Free parking outside.
Found this place by chance on the net. What a find. Young and old will get a kick from this place. What a treasure cove with a warehouse full of trains from all the time period. A walk into history, helpful staff filled with knowledge willing to share. Buy your tickets online. Well organized. You can visit may trains inside and walk through them and some only outside. Would highly recommend. Entrance and ticket booth have been moved 100 meters past the old entrance where the train is displayed outside.
Good place for family activities, parking is free, staff is very friendly and helpful Mini train for kid and parents + Tramway circuit around the museum. It will take minimum half of your day and you can bring your own food
Such a great place to visit. Interesting and fun for the kids
I felt like I moved to a unique time and place. We had a wonderful time. I went my 2 year son. An amazing full day of unexpected fun.
Great place to go with the kids. My 2 and 4 years old loved it.
(Translated) Super nice museum place to discover with the children ???? !!!
Recommend to visit
Very nice. Better than I expected. Spent a good 3hrs there. Will probably go back in the future. Good as a family activity.
Lots of fun for a few hours. It was fun to be able to climb into an old locomotive and see things from that perspective.
Best museum for kids and adults!
Nice miniature train room
Good place for kids. My son take twice mini train ride for free. He loves it.
Cool place to see trains. Love the train ride.
Amazing!!
This is a wonderful museum with a large number of locomotives, streetcars, passenger equipment and artefacts. The miniature train ride is excellent and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Very atmospheric! Will definitely visit it next year :)
A great experience for kids and adults. We spent a few hours exploring inside and outside the museum. A great place and decent price. Will go again for sure!
Great place for kids. Every time we go there, my 2yo enjoys it a lot. They have free admission on the first Sunday of a month.
(Translated) Very nice museum to visit and see the evolution of the railway world!
very good collections for trains. good to learn the railway history from Canada. could add more activities for kids
I thought this place might be fun, even in a tacky way, so I headed out. Poor parking and signage outside but once in I was very pleasantly surprised! So many fascinating locomotives and carriages from so many eras. The guided tour of the lush interior of the 140-year-old "Saskatchewan" was a highlight! Not only train or history enthusiasts, I think most everyone will enjoy this collection, worth a visit for sure!
First time there, was a great visit! Clean, lots to see and do for kids and the train ride was fun. Staff was great and friendly!
This is an incredible place to visit for children and adults alike. The unique history of Canadian trains and how they shaped the landscape social structures across this beautiful country. There are quite a few different engines and cars that have been preserved in the gorgeous indoor museum. Most are open for visitors to go inside and look around. You can really feel the history and get a much better idea of how it would have felt to be in the train during it's heydey. All in All this was an incredible experience and something I would recommend to anyone let who has even a slight interest in trains and transportation. ????
What great fun! Very informative :)
One of the best railway museum that I have seen in the world
Everything is amazing and staff is very friendly.
(Translated) Very nice activity / museum, it is possible to get on several locomotive or wagon which covers the whole of railway history well. It is very good for children since it is possible to touch several controls in certain locomotive All of the staff are friendly and really try to give the best possible experience for young and old alike. With 2 children we made the big tour of everything with picnic in 4 hrs (Original) Très belle activité/musée, il est possible de monter dans plusieurs locomotive ou wagon qui couvre bien l'ensemble de l'histoire ferroviaire.
Awesome
Cool
Amazing museum! So many locomotives and really awesome trains. Well worth the detour, although the public transit options to get here from the city are very limited on the weekend! The museum has lots of really interesting rolling stock, a tramway that tours the site and the staff were all great.
Love the mini train ride!
Very nice place! Clean and spacious. Outdoor area has allot to see as well. Don't forget to ride the trolley! Woot woot!
a lot of fun and good experience
Probably the best railway museum in Canada.
This was lots of fun! You can ride on a tram or a miniature train. You can go inside a lot of old train cars. The gift shop had reasonably priced gifts for kids. Staff were very hands off.
Wonderful place! A must not only for train lovers but also for kids, families, technology fans, photography enthusiasts; they all will be excited to go here. The most beautiful and well preserved stock of Canadian train history going from the beautiful locomotives, their wagons, the telegraph and the wonderful people operating it. You can also go outside to discover the workshops, the old machines across the park, take the small train going through the stations, pickup that telegram you sent from the main station, or just go for a picnic in any of their many outside areas. To better enjoy the outdoors I would recommend from spring to fall season although there’s also plenty to see indoors if winter is the case. Would definitely be coming back just to take more pictures.
Nice Museum with lots of train cars you can also enter some of them. Free parking.
Very nice museum. Great collection of trains. Perfect family activity.
Quality family time guaranteed! You need the whole day to see everything there. Family pass (2 adults + 2 children) is about $50.oo
Expensive, the only thing that the kids liked was the train ride outside
This great museum is an ideal place for the whole family. They provide an extensive history of Canada’s railway system. The museum also caters passenger family rides as well as a miniature train rides which I’m pretty sure the kids will love!
Fabulous for rail fans and those that like to learn about history
Great activity for kids
It's smaller than I thought. Good luck finding a cab back to Montreal.
A great experience for the whole family! Although you can visit at your own pace, I strongly suggest to follow one of the scheduled tours as they add so much more details, context and quite many fun fact and historical anecdotes you wouldn't get otherwise. Furthermore, it's free for Delson and Saint-Constant residents! Thank you very much for the ride!
If you like trains it the place to be
watch to see and learn about great staff
The place is excellent for a railroad obsessed child or a grown-up, used to have such an obsession in the childhood, like myself. Reserve the whole day for a visit, preferably in summer, make sure to be comfortable to walk all that time. Cafeteria is good, but the area is a little too small for a bigger number of attendees. Definitely to attend once in a lifetime, but like I said, for the obsessed ones - 1st priority!
Great little train museum. Kids loved it. Would have given 5 stars, but there wasn't any food available on site.
Great place to bring the family. Lots of exhibits and things to see. There are some interactive elements but not many. Great to see engineering from a different era. Don't forget to check out the model train room. Amazing how many hours they put into this exhibit.

Awesome!
Great place to visit with family. Lots of information and you will feel right back into the past! ????
Greatest place on Earth. You definitely need a few hours to go through the entire exhibit. Unfortunately I was pressed for time as I took the AMT train to St. Constant and the schedule only allowed for 3 hours to walk around. If you can, ironically, drive to the museum.
Amazing collection, the customer service could be better
Great collection and interesting live demos of the streetcar and miniature railway.
cool place to stay away from heat.
Love it!
This museum is quite far out from the city but worth a visit. There's great stuff for kids, and the place is huge. Anyone with the slightest interest in trains will enjoy themselves.
Nice place. Don't come when it's lot of snow because the outside exposition is not available.
With the largest collection of engines in North America I always bring friends from out of town. There is much to see. I live nearby and have been to the site many times since 1980.
Do you like trains? Go here! Amazing collection, great staff. Good selection in the gift shop too. Better to visit in the summer when the whole site is open, but a winter visit lets you have the place, and tour guide almost to yourself. If I lived locally I would be a member.
My kids love this place. Great place to meet other families with Autistic children. Friendly staff and volunteers.
Very nice family activity
Lovely family activity. Review to be finalized, with photos.
Really cool transit museum where you even get to ride a few old trains and streetcars! I've been to many other transit museums but this one stands out. It's only unfortunate that this transit museum isn't quite accessible by actual transit, though.
It was a great museum.
What an amazing experience for train enthusiasts and friends of transit in general. The trainyard is awesome, but the main feature is a huge indoor collection of trains and cars with informative signage, and period staging of the cars you are allowed to go into! My favourite is the mail car.
Good family activity specially for kids, don't forget to take a ride in the miniature train outside
Very nice activity, the kids loved it. Abd tge adults too!
long long time history
Extremely friendly staff! Perfect place for train lovers and children! Would definitely come again and again!
The worse museum ever in the world. No sign no guide no map no person responsible. Runs by 5 volunteer boys and girl. Everything was closed due to covid and you can see just the acrap yard. You are not forced to open museum if everything must be closed except looking for money!!!! Dont waste your money and time there. Shame!!!
(Translated) Very nice museum with several antique trains. Really good for kids and of course adults. Walk in a tram to go around the site. Presentation of small films of 15min included and a 45min in iMax for $ 4.00 Small train for children. Site for outdoor dining and food court in the main building. To visit and even revisit.
Lots of great trains BUT THEY REALLY REALLY need to advertise more that they have a Thomas-like engine in one of their back buildings.
I had a really nice visit!
(Translated) Excellent museum. Hyper interesting and very well laid out for the whole family to have a great time of discovery. Visit required for the summer given the extent of the course and the number of locomotives and wagons on display. The Santa Claus train is not great but for young children who have never boarded a train is still interesting as an activity. My criticisms relate in particular to the display of access to the museum. Two odd-looking parking lots, one just opposite (P2) with direct access closed without clear signage of how to make the detour. The second (P1) quite far (for winter) again without any signage of how to get there. We eventually find it but I advise you to arrive a little early if you have taken a ticket for the train, otherwise you may miss it. Roughly speaking, highly recommended but arrive in advance!
(Translated) We liked it so much that we hope to be able to return as soon as possible. We strongly urge you to visit the museum first because there are so many trains to visit, things to watch and learn that it is best not to visit this part at the end of the day. Big train ride ok, but a bit short. On the other hand, the little train is very popular with children who love him. Warning ! Free small parking after the railway line. Otherwise big parking where the old big train also possible.
I like train very cool Ps choo choo
Great place for kids to explore trains, many fun activities, good volunteers, a must see
Love this place and the kids do too
5 star museum for all ages. Whether you are a kid or a train enthusiast, this is the museum to go. Don’t forget to take a ride with mini rail. Kids love it.
Very nice place to visit. We visited in Winter. Kids had a good time here especially with mineature train, art and craft activities. It is free for Quebec residents for first Sunday of the month. From Downtown we took bus #130 and then we need to take another bus #30 or T43 from last stop. Will revisit this place in Summer.
This museum is beautiful and fun for the whole family. The miniature railway was a blast and the streetcar with four stops around the museum was really cool.
A great place for the family !
The biggest museum of train!
I totally felt like I was part of the attractions at the museum. Specially at their newest attraction : the Montreal's subway train. Let's just say that I felt pretty old right there ;)
Love it
A nice variety of train-related activities
Amazing museum!! The staff is really nice, they respect the covid laws, a really nice boutique and they have a lot of trains, locomotive, wagons and it's really a awesome museum to go to!!
Lot of cool locomotives, even an A4 from the UK
Great place to bring the kids! Many different kind of trains to see! All indoors but I believe there are some outdoors but I did not visit due to the cold winter weather!
Very nice museum showing the amazing history of the railway in Canada. It also caters for children.
This place is AWESOME if you love trains.Long wait to get in though, over 2 hours of standing in line but so worth it.
too. expensive entry. fee
Nice family outing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed the ride in a real train. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't try the mini train. Lots of interesting stories for history buffs.
The place is really well maintained, and the possibility to visit the trains is amazing! Will come back with my kid often, for sure.
One word: amazing!
Great place for us to allow the kids to stretch their legs and imagination on a rainy day like today. And the kids were especially surprised to see Santa and his helper elf there.
Fun place to visit
Wonderful museum with lots of trains and fun activities for kids. You can participate in small demonstrations like how a train turntable works. I thought 1-2 hours would be enough but we ended up spending 4 hours ????
Very nice location for a family
Very well organized and education ????
Great family trip!
Really interesting displays, miniature train was so much fun, and the kid zone was perfect. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Wow
Good place to take kids. Had a good time.
Lots of (loud) kids screaming and running around the trains (and everywhere else). But the museum is really interesting (guided tours are 5 stars) and those locomotives are such impressive beasts. Considering the fact that you can easily spend 3 hours on the site, it's a good (family) attraction for the money ($23 per adult or $60 for a family of 4). If you have kids, I recommend.
I want to go back just to ride the mini train :D Choo Choo!
Great museum, fun for families with kids of any age. Lots of interesting stuff.
We had a great time visiting the museum. Our kids aged 5 and 7, loved riding the outdoor trains and exploring the trains inside. You can walk into the historical train cars, and read and learn a lot about their history. Everything is very well organized. We will go again.
I like the museum! You can see train of all ages. There are 3 trains lines ( small, tramway and big train like a AMT)
Great place but it lacks of information. Over there, you are on your own. I also have to say that it took more than an hours to get our tickets we bought online. You have to keep chasing them to get some information.
Amazing railway museum! The kids loved it more the expected. The mini trains and the tram trip was a great experience for them. We are on our 2nd trip there in less then 3 months. The museum also has model trains plus is season activities of all type. I highly recommend it.
If you like trains you will love it here!
Wonderful collection of locomotives with historical explanations. Also great collection of passenger cars. A must visit for any rail enthusiast.
Always an excellent time
Like this place
????????
Kids loved it. Best train museum I've been to.
Best place to spend three or four hours with kids
Amazing place! Worth going for sure!
Pretty fun for people who are into trains
awesome museum and great for kids too
Great with kids
They have actual old locomotives that you can climb into, pretty nice.
Way better than I expected!
Lots to see and do, spend the day. There is a Cantine and Gift shop in the main building
Nice and interesting
Alot of trains to visit, the kids were ecstatic. We had a nice time.
Must see attraction in Montreal area. Check out calendar for days where John Molson steam engine is active!
Very interesting place to visit with kids..
Nice place to go with the kids
Great place fo kids and adults.
Good place to visit with a lot of beautiful trains. However the small restaurant inside has been closed for a long time and considering that the majority of visitors are kids this is not pleasant.
Oh what a place! We visited the place with a 2yo and a 3 yo, they absolutely loved it. We'll come back!
(Translated) Railway museum in St-Constant. Interesting concept, cultural activity recommended for children. Perhaps review the cost of entry which can be quite high for a family with 2 or 3 children. In addition, a more varied and better quality catering could be planned ... We had a great time, very fun for the whole family! It's on the expensive side though...
Very nice place.. lots of history included..plus a cute ride on a miniature train..
I love trains!
Gem of a museum! Fantastic for kids.
Amazing museum displaying real trains and engines. Spectacular collection and true showcase of Canadian railway history.
Handicap person don't go!!! Very bad experience!!!
Exporail is the leading location of preserved railway equipment in Eastern Canada. Multiple enclosed buildings let you see, touch, and climb aboard dozens of pieces of rolling stock, sending you back in time in the moment. Outside you'll find more wonderful pieces of the collection, not to mention the trolley ride that takes you around the facilities, as well as the weekend market train, for that added bit of nostalgia. Definitely a must-see attraction for the train lovers inside all of us!
Nice place
Must see Canadian heritage.
An excellent place for kids and a lot of history to learn about.
Always a fun filled experience. The staff is friendly and the children just loved their experience. I truly recommend. Great to learn about the railway system and have fun as a family.
Really impressive to see all the old locomotives!
Best place to visit if you're fan of model trains, real trains, and Canadian Pacific history! At Covid times there are restricted access, but still lots of things and history to expore!
Very Impressive Museum, A Must Visit!
Amazing museum love all the trains they have and is clean
We really enjoyed our visit to the railway museum. Our two and four year old were very entertained and impressed. We enjoyed touring the insides of the old trains, but I was a little disappointed that the really antique ones were inaccessible and not even lit inside so we could appreciate the interiors.
Great place for kids
Great experience. Felt like a kid again!
(Translated) A fantastic place where you become in the world of trains ???? First sunday of the month is free, nice museum and it has a tram inside which costs around $5 to take a ride. Love the place..
Best place to take the kids to have fun and learn about the magic of trains!
Great place for children. My son loved that you can go inside some of the locomotives and coaches that have been restored. Each train has a history and it makes the visit really interesting. They also have a working tramway car that travels around the site. Children and adults alike enjoy that part. Plan at least 4 hours to visit the museum. Bring a lunch. If the weather is nice you can eat outside on some picnic tables. Otherwise you can eat inside in the cafeteria. And make sure to bring your camera!
Great place
Great place for kids and adults to explore trains, some of them you can even get in
Kids was happy!
Beautiful
A hidden little gem
Honestly the best museum in the region, my 2 daughters and I really love the atmosphere and enjoy watching those mechanical beasts every year.
Honestly the best museum in the region, my 2 daughters and I really love the atmosphere and enjoy watching those mechanical beasts every year.
Such a great way to enjoy some history and hands-on education! My 2.5 loved to explore the huge trains and see all the place had to offer. The mini train ride was his favourite activity. Go when it's free and pack a lunch!
Good family outing. Yearly pass really worth the price. Staff is pleasant and well organized.
Kids love it.
Pretty nice and entertaining place to discover the history of railways and trains.
Great pleace, Unfortunately with all the restrictions it makes it a bit uncomfortable. Cute little train ride for the young ones and plenty of history for parents. Will return some day.
Great place to touch the history.
Great place to bring kids and railway enthusiasts.
Lots of trains. Perfect for big and little kids.
I like that place. Very nice Musium
Very nice selection of trains, old and new. Nice layout, small cafe. Very well done, the kids loved it.
(Translated) Great place, perfect for train enthusiasts, there are really a lot !! You can get inside some. Lots of interesting things for kids too. I loved the model train section! You can easily spend the day there. Train ride possible in summer.
A awsome place for train lovers
Very interesting place, trains are amazing especially the royal one.
History and fun for kids of all ages
(Translated) This exhibition is fantastic in every way, except for the prepayment which in my opinion is unnecessary, because all families take train rides payable on site and at the same counter as those who have prepaid. All the same, the value of this visit is wonderful! It's a super beautiful site. Well done! Bravo!
After 33 years of wanting to go, I finally found someone that wanted to be by my side enjoying something I've always loved; Trains
If you like trains this is a must see. This is the best train museum I have ever been to plan on spending at least 4 hours here to see it all
Awesome place for kids 3 to 103
Really impressed by the number of trains and cars as well as activities. Great place for kids. My three year old has been talking about it for the week since we went.
Great place
We love to go there!
The place is great. Lots of trains and information. The trolley was not working, and the mini train had a wet bin to store purses that couldn't be taken on the ride. Parking is convenient, but the lot is muddy and not paved. There is wheel chair access inside to get to the boardwalk to see inside the trains though. The model train wasn't running today. Overall it was still a good experience.
Fantastic for the kids
(Translated) We absolutely loved our visit to Exporail There are really impressive antique locomotives We can even see 2 from below How would I say that? It's just wow You can take a train ride for a little extra charge but to be honest it's still ordinary I would tell you that I enjoyed the mini train ride much more I certainly receive the visit If bmvius are an amateur of the railway sector (Original) Nous avons vraiment adoré notre visite à Exporail Il y a des locomotives antiques Vraiment impressionnante On peut même en voir 2 d'en dessous Comment je dirais ça?
(Translated) Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. I went there with my 3 children. The youngest of my daughters did not want to come, but once there her eyes lit up. There are plenty of different locomotive models from all eras. Plan a good 3 hours to go around and take the trouble to read the descriptions on the panels of the trains, you will learn for sure. The smell inside is special ... It reminded me of when I went to my grandfather when I was little with the smell of tractor and oil ... I recommend it. Who doesn't like trains? Choo ... choo ... ???? (Original) Wow ! Tchou... tchou... ????
Best railway museum I can find so far. If only some more cars could be made available to enter.
Fantastic experience!
I enjoyed this museum with my 3 year old. Very informative and impressive to see old trains. Museum is not Stoller friendly. Took baby carrier. Love the little train ride. The staff was very friendly.
Great place to spend time with a young family
Lots of historical trains
Way cooler than expected! We can climb aboard some old trains (not all of them of course) and the "mini-train" for kids is amazing (my toddler did it 6x times). Will return for sure! ????
If you want to learn about the history of railroads in Canada. This is the best place to go. There is a lot of rolling stock equipment to look at and there are plenty of exhibits and activities for the whole family. During the winter only the main pavilion is accessible but I can't wait for summertime so that I can go and see what is shown in the rest of the museum.
Great photo opportunity ! The staff is very friendly and helpful, we are always well received there !
Very interesting museum, nice collection of old and new trains.
Amazing museum, not so friendly staff.
Good for kids
Lots to see, fun for kids of all ages
Awesome place if you love trains!
(Translated) If you are adults or children, no matter what age you are, do not hesitate to pay a visit to the Canadian Railway Museum, Exporail, located in Delson. We can spend wonderful moments here with our children or alone. Exhibitors begin to introduce themselves just after entering, inviting visitors to explore them. Everything is planned to give access to the "secrets" that are spread out before our eyes. There are permanent exhibitions and periodical exhibitions here; there are staff or volunteers who help visitors understand or answer questions. In the screening room we can see very interesting documentaries and then we can receive explanations or find answers to our questions. There are playrooms, full of toys and touch screens for the curious, costumes for fancy dress and room for crafts. The most popular of the rooms is the room with the models of (electronic) trains which circulate on a long circuit. Everywhere they pass, there are landscapes and small figurines that create / recast the atmosphere of yesteryear. The very clean dining room awaits people who wish to have a small snack. We can celebrate the birthdays of our little ones, too, in complete safety and to the joy of the children. Outside, young and old alike are expected to stroll by train or on the platforms pulled by a miniature locomotive which is a real sensation for all. No matter what activity you choose, you will be well received!
Museum visit pandemic style was aright. Mask on and stick to your bubble. Kiddos can run and climb up into some of the train cars. I good way to kill 1.5 hours indoors.
Had a great time with my two year old . He loved the mini ????
Very nice place for enjoying in family the only thing I did not like was the cafeteria was closed all time.
There are priceless exhibits here but very poorly organized. The staff are rude and seem to have little interest in explaining the historic significance to the visitors. They seem to be reluctantly welcoming paying guests. I wish the Smithsonian Institution were running this museum. Then it would be worth visiting multiple times.
Huge, lots of things to see. It’s like traveling in time. My son loved it.
Wonderful place for families and especially kids to learn about train history in Canada not far from Montreal
Not that big but amazing (visited in the fall of 2018)
Best museum to go with kids!!!!
A relly nice and well done train museum
Great place to bring your kids!
Great place for ALL AGES! If you love trains this is a MUST! Even if you don't, this place is a great place to get away for a few hours. There's lots of walking to do since these are very large trains or if you like you can get around by train! We come back every year with our kids. This museum is well-maintained and only 20 minutes from downtown Montreal.
What a wonderful museum, so much history of Canada on display. I took the tram around the site twice, the ride is so nice and the staff so friendly. Many restaurants are available just past the gate. The pizza next door is delicious. The onsite lunch options are sparce, but fairly priced. I want to try a total train day experience by traveling to this museum by train from Montreal from Lucien-L'Allier métro station at 9:38 am and returning at 4:30 pm (by special arrangement) via Candiac (1 hour required)
why are you closed for Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday
Amazing experience for all ages
Best museum I saw to date.
A step back in time, seeing these trains and how they've evolved. Truly magical specially now close to Christmas
Great place for kids and adults alike. A must see for train enthusiasts.
Fabulous museum. Really enjoyed my visit.
Lots of fun
Interesting, educational place no matter jow old you are.
We go every summer with the kids and they always discover new things
Cool place big, although would be nice to be able to walk around more and get closer to the locomotives and cars outside very restrictive on where you can go
Nice place
Even with long lines and waiting, we were still enjoying the tour! I’m so fascinated by all of those ???? collections!
Really interesting piece of Canadians, great for families, something for everyone. Loved the bigger locomotives.
Fun tourist attraction
Interesting historical museum. Not many of it's kind. For train nuts it's a must. Although I would suggest they have a large train set on site.
It is amazing the quantity and quality of the exhibits, there is almost too much to see. The only criticism I have, and it is a minor one, is that the Halloween decorations detracted from the exhibitions somewhat. I will definitely return, and would recommend the museum to my friends.
If you like trains you will love the museum.
Brings back memories . A bit of history too.
(Translated) A great visit of the most interesting. Many montreal trains and tramways on the site. From very old to just retired. This place will enchant big and small. A place that deserves more attention because of great interest. Thanks to all the volunteers of the site.
Ride on a small train was amazing.
Kids love this place
A great place to go with the kids
Very very very good
Great family experience even for a non train fanatic!☺
(Translated) Very well maintained and great fun for the kids. I didn't expect it to be almost everything inside. Nice discovery!
Perfect for kids
Very interesting museum. Could have done without them ringing the train sirens for 30 seconds non stop considering the amount of young children present under the age of 2. Also, you have to buy your tickets online only to wait half an hour in line to get them validated.
Very interesting for everyone. My little girl really liked to play in some wagons.
So many trains! Well explained display of what must be nearly 100 cars and locomotives. Includes early streetcars, including horse drawn ones. Most of the vehicles are inside a large warehouse.
Geeat museum
Really cool museum, 25$ a person though so on the high end
Great place to learn about the history of railways and take quite interesting pictures.
(Translated) Time travel guaranteed Even if you are not a fan of trains and / or museums Great activity for families or even as a couple Plan a good 2 hour visit and comfortable shoes About 12 minutes train ride at $ 2 per person, well worth it Best moments: boarding 100-year-old wagons and feeling in the shoes of travelers or employees of the time All the details are there !!!
Many trains to see and touch and it's great for the childrens
If u want to visit outside, I recommend avoiding baby strollers. You can't really go into the trains, probably because of the pandemic situation, but for any train enthusiast or kids, great place.
the kids love it, lots of trains to see and climb on.
Just amazing ????
Large indoor exhibit . Perfect for kids on a rainy day. Outside running trains that you can go on
Nice museum with lots of different old locomotive and trains to see
Great place to burn a morning or afternoon with the kids, especially when the weather isn't great. Tons of old trains with a bunch of areas geared towards children - a little Thomas track to play with, an old mail car with games, uniforms to get dressed in, and other activities, a HUGE model train that the kids love watching go around a very detailed landscape. When the weather is warm enough there are also two outdoor trains offering rides (included in your ticket price) - one is an old trolley car that does a tour of the grounds, and the other is a small ride-on train that can take about 20 kids & adults on a fun ride through the woods, across a couple bridges and through a tunnel. Always a hit with my boys. Hitting the Burger King just up the street for lunch with the huge 3-story play structure is icing on the cake for them!
I was a bit salty with the price (40$ for 2 adults) but the exhibition is pretty nice. It was still worth the visit, kid loved it.
Nice little museum on Trains. I found the indoor museum more interesting with alot of trains to see. However, I found the price is a little bit high for non residents. There is only the trains exposition, no entertainment or tour guide. You may have running shoes on to go there because the road to the museum is only rocks. And it is also very hard to navigate a stroller to there.
If you are interested in history and old trains this is best place to go . The best part you can go inside of many trains n engines which is amazing . Mini train ride is soooooo fun . The staff n guide is very friendly and they speak in english too which is great . I dont find entry ticket is expensive . I feel what you pay is really worth .
Full of trains. I found the horse drawn trans some of the most interesting bit. Lots of context cards for the adults to read while the kids run around..
Awesome place . Full of history and awesome trains
(Translated) The museum site is very large and contains an impressive number of trains. Several beautiful photos to take next to its mastodons! The snowplow in particular, with its presentation video, left me speechless! The kids loved touring the inside of the wagons, while also engaging in treasure hunts. Unfortunately, the number of wagons to visit is far too low and the visit ends up quite quickly. Special mention to the section of model trains whose layout is sublime. As for your store, it could be more surprising with real favorite products. Apart from a few unique books, the whole thing is unattractive. A train ride ($) can be a great way to introduce children to this form of transportation, but that's it. The journey is absolutely irrelevant, just like the wagon in which one takes a seat. As for the mini train ($), the fact that the ride literally lasts three (3) minutes discouraged me from trying it. Small word in closing on your catastrophic management of the 1st free Sunday of each month. Even arriving 15 minutes before the opening, we had to wait thirty minutes in a line, glued to each other. Some had to wait over an hour. This is an absolutely unacceptable situation, in my humble opinion. Why not put the time stamped tickets, like all other days, and allow advance purchase for train rides? This way, you control access in accordance with sanitary regulations AND you respect your customers. Besides, what's the point of dropping people in when opening when the site is totally empty ?!
Great train museum
Have brought my son there about 12 times. Great for adults too. Well priced adventure.
Good for a day visit.
Great place for a family outing. All the staff are super friendly (and everyone we spoke to was bilingual if you struggle to speak french) The kids loved to go in the trains and especially the mini train ride outside. Probably no a place for s full day activity. But can easily spend 2-4 hours there depending how fast you want to walk around.
Went for free museum day. Had fun but I would not have been as happy if I had to pay the admission price.
Kids loved these huge train! Lot of things to see!
Fabulous place
Highly recommended. Be sure to explore the outer buildings as well. Lots of iron treasures.
So cool. You could smell the history in each train
Nice, very interesting, small train for kids
Should not be missed
Nice place to visit
Very informative.
An interesting place to visit for people who are obsessed with trains and train exhibitions. The weather was quite hot when we went here so we couldn't explore much the trains that were outdoors. We had to go in right after the first train ride. The vintage trains inside were absolutely fascinating. For some trains, you could go inside and check but some are for viewing only. There were mini train exhibitions upstairs and 2 train rides outdoors. My son enjoyed his time here. It is a bit expensive for what you could experience because the train ride tickets were add ons and you already have to pay around $21/adult but I would still recommend going here. ????
Lots of train. Some of them you can go in and see. There is a 100 year old street car running around the museum. There are 4 stops for the outdoor exhibits. Great place for both kids and adults.
Very interesting
Awesome????
Great place with a family.
Nice railway/railroad museum. Recommend
Good for kids.
Beautiful experience for all. Little ones were in awe. Staff was helpful and accommodating.
(Translated) Very interesting for all ages. For train lovers plan all day. We were there from 1 p.m. and finally it would have been a good 1h more or even 2! We learn bcp. Did you know the school trains? On apprend bcp. Connaissiez-vous les trains école?
Excelent place for children
Very educative museum. I enjoyed visiting but a little bit pricy.
Very interesting place and great proposed activities
Great please for kids & adults. Our 4 yers old boy enjoyed every minute.
Really nice place to spend a day with your family
Very interesting museum, quite a few century old wagons you can actually go inside.
Well designed. The museum and the trains are so pretty. The parking lot needs more signs. The additional parking lot is very confusing. No signs to show how to find the museum after parking.
Amazing place for train lovers. U can talk a ride on one of Montreal's old tram. And a miniature train ride is fun for both adults and kids. Highly recommend this place
Great place for young kids and old. Unbelievable collection of trains, particularly engines .
Nice display, but could use a good cleaning/dusting of the locomotives. A bit of paint wouldn't hurt also.
Very interesting especially with kids
Great place for family visit
Very interesting museum
Enjoyable family-friendly attraction! Our highlights were the mini train, the large, explorable trains and the turn table.
Very good experience and all the safety rules were follow by the people. Because on this pandemic times I hate the crowded places I was happy to see people respecting the rules and not to much people on Sunday morning
Super
(Translated) A great discovery. located about twenty kilometers from Montreal this beautiful museum collects trams, Canadian Pacific and Canadian national railway carriages as well as locomotives, small reconstructions of waiting rooms, furnished wagons. We were also able to view two really interesting and very well made films, one of which also showed the construction of the railway on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
Some of us when we look within ourselves, we don't see the kid in us anymore. Worry not ! The Canadian Railway museum is the only place where you can find yourself mesmerized in front of the gigantic train collection. The setup of the museum is well done. When you enter from left to right, you get to live the Montreal Tram history and left the Iron beasts of the Canadian Pacific. I will strongly suggest checking the website for the schedule of the train tour which goes around the lot.
Great family place for train lovers. Enjoyed the miniature train ride with m'y kids multiple times.
Kool museum
The smell inside is not friendly during the winter.
Nice museum with lots of insight into how the railways influenced Canada's industrialisation and development. Compared to the UK's National Rail Museum in York quite small. The main hall is the place to focus on. At the time of my visit the museum caffee was not open. Not a major issue but something to be aware of.
Worth the money
Museum rich in history
Excellent, real fun with the kids and dont miss the little train ride
The second parking lot being closed during winter makes no sense at all, but in general it's a super nice spot to take the little ones.
Good to visit with little ones.
Great musueum. Huge and entertaining.
Super fun place for young kids and adults
If you have fans on trains in your family, this is the place to bring them. This museum cover the history of train since it started in Canada between Laprarie and St-Jean. I used to go there as a child and 25 years later it still sparks the train lover in me. Even if I feel it is over priced (60$ for a family of 3) it impressed me with all the trains, especially the ones you can get inside. I wish we could go in all the locomotives and wagons. You would get better value for you buck if you visited in the summer as the outside yard is not really accessible in the winter.
In the winter, good for bad weather days.
Lots of cool train's and equipment
Awesome spot to come back to again and again! Annual pass is well worth it if you have kids.
Great part of our history!
Great place to see trains and more trains. Very ineresting place.
Fantastic place for a train buff! They should improve their cafe though.
My boy loves this place , if our have kids try to visit at least one time.
One of the best railway museums in North America, Exporail has a vast collection of locomotives and rolling stock spanning the 19th Century to modern times, including many vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces of equipment. Some trains in the main exhibit can be climbed into (or under) and they are complemented by a model railroad, exterior garden railroad and trolley line. A fantastic and informative place for both families and train enthusiasts.
Super train museum, fantastic to actually get in and even under some classic feats of engineering.
We are annoyed at this Museum. As a model railway group we go there annually and have done so since I cannot remember when (+ 15 years) Locomotive Dominion of Canada languished in this old shed for years. The UK paid for it to be transported both ways across the Atlantic, paid for a magnificent restoration and what had Delson gone and done? Dumped it back in its old shed. If they do not want it send it back to the UK, this is totally rude on Delson's part and we will think twice about going next year.
Very interesting place. Good for kids.
Just an amazing spot to learn what the railway industry has meant to the development of this country.
A must see. Kids and family friendly. A great museum offering a great experience. Well organized, informative and friendly staff.
Went there on a Sunday in Christmas time. We planned our visit with 5 children so that they can have a magical time. The museum in itself is awesome however the way it is managed is very bad. On Sundays they close at 5 as any other business. However, what they don't tell you that all everything closes at 3:30! The girl sitting at the information booth gave us wrong information and didn't even mention when things close! She pointed out that Santa is somewhere and we ran all across to see him before he goes only to find out she had no clue where santa was! The big train ride was closed ( the website did not mention that) and we paid extra $ for each one of us to ride the miniature train that closed without us even knowing! And there was also a coloring activity for kids that had very limited window and closed before 3:30. The cafeteria was also closed at 3:30, it is like they don't want to work! Oh they also don't answer the phone! We tried to learn about the different activities they have but no body would answer so we made a one hour trip for this experience. Absolutely don't recommend. I hope management changes soon !
Loads of fun for kids and adults. Worth it.
Great railroad museum!!
Nice museum!
Great for kids and seniors who love trains!
Family had a great time, not as big as I imagined though
Very interesting. Has many trains and other methods of locomotion , including a stagecoach , from another epoch!
What a fantastic Rail museum. A great collection with lots to see. Will be returning next time in the area to see all I missed.
Great place to take young kids
Great place to spend the day with the kids.
Great place to spend half a day with the family. Everything you would expect a train museum to be
A little expensive for the experience but the main part of the museum is great and beautifully maintained.
It's a great place to visit and bring the kids. Miniature trains, real trains, and an outdoor mini train that the kids can take a ride on. My kids loved it. Takes a good 2 to 3 hours to see it all. Highly recommend.
Nice museum. Good place to go with kids.
Much more than just a collection of rusting engines, the main hall in particular is very well done. With tram, miniature and full size train rides available it's one of the most engaging rail museums anywhere!
Amazing place for kids of all age
A lot to see, a lot to learn! Very interesting for children of all ages.
Great place for kids! Tramway ride, miniature train display, mini ridable train and play wagons. We bought annual family pass to go back.
My three years old really loved it! Took 4-5 hours to see everything. Great place for families.
A great museum, although it is expensive if you have to pay to get in. We managed to get in for free so no complaints.
(Translated) Great place to learn about the history of trains. The guide gave us a very good description of the history of the trains. From the steam train to the modern train. Ideal for taking schoolchildren out.
Kind of cool
Very nice!
Very disrespectful. Their ticketing booth closes 3:30 which was not indicated on their website. Today was their free entrance ‘museum day’ and it says no reservations needed but we weren’t able to enter at 3:45 and left in front with a crying toddler-they wouldn’t even let us see the outdoor trains
It's an interesting place. A very beautiful history of the train. We had a great time. Nice trip with the train at the end.
Great selection of Canadian Railway equipment from the past. Nice boutique to purchase books and souvenirs.I highly recommend that if you like trains you have to visit. Great Ho Scale model railroad. Among the rolling stock it Represents Montreal Streetcars and Vintage CN and Canadian Pacific equipment. Rediscover your childhood and that inner passion for trains!
A wonderful place to spend all the day with the family.
Love the idea but not too crazy about the execution. Most of the trains are jammed in a dark, unventilated warehouse. If you go, choose a day with guided tour to make the most of your experience.
Perfect day full of wonderful cherished memories of my father working for the railroad. Would of preferred being able to go on more cars. The place has a little of everything for everyone.
Bery nice well made
Most amazing train museum in Canada and maybe around the world..
