I love the lay out of this museum and how engaged the kids become. I enjoy the village but the kids are more engaged with the exhibits. There is a bit of a walk for the little ones but the older kids will have no problem. It is stroller friendly if you need one :) It's also clean with great facilities, gift shops etc. :)

We went to the Night at the Museum event tonight and it was so much fun, we had a great time. Great people, delicious food and amazing artifacts. We had such a great time we will be going back again with the kids and for future events!

Loved it, They have pioneer and first nation stuff from the 1800. They also have houses from the 1800 that you can go inside during the summer. unfortunately, there aren't too many fossils because they have to be found within Simcoe County. Otherwise, they get sent to either the R.O.M. or some other museum. Great place to admire the 1800 and first nations though!

My 2 year old and I went as part of a group for an event, but then we decided to look around the facility and the grounds. The admission is donation based, but recommended $5/person and you can get a guided tour if you would like, we didn't, but it's good to know it's an option. We had a blast looking in the little exhibit areas, a nice brief history of the area. The indoor displays are quite nice. My son had the best time outside with all of the old machinery and the train. We will definitely be going back in the warmer months to explore the grounds more.

I love the Simcoe County Museum! They have summer day camps, and they have an outdoor portion of the museum. The inside of the museum has so many interesting artifacts, and they have a gift shop with gemstone necklaces, cool stones and even first nations style moccasins! I highly recommend this museum to anyone looking for a day of learning and fun.

My 6 year old loved the skulls, taxidermy and running around the outdoor exhibits. A great place to spend the day and hike the surrounding trails and even picnic outside.

We enjoyed this museum. It's inexpensive as admission is by donation. There was a decent amount of things to see. We were there for about 2 hours and saw pretty much everything. It has a few interactive areas where kids can try things out for themselves like a large wheeled bicycle or an old rotary phone

We had such a great time at the museum, the 1 km skating throughthe forest was exceptional. Viewing the old Steam Locomotive was also a high point for me as a train buff. This is a great way to enjoy the out doors and get some exercise.

I love this place for all the camps for kids! Whether its during the summer, March Break or winter holidays. My child really enjoys it here, lots to learn and the teachers/camp counsellors seem really good with the kids. The price is right and the location is "out of the way" of the hustling bustle of the city ????

Great place to visit. Went to the book store and bought a new version of Eleanor Hallen’s Pioneer Girl's Diary. Set in Simcoe County Medonte Township in the 1830s. Excellent text for early Canadian history.

Recently went and enjoyed their winter outdoor skating trail. Great skating with a nice landscape to enjoy. Fairly inexpensive for a fun afternoon activity. Offered snowshoeing and other activities all for one reasonable price. Friendly staff and well maintained ice.

Our grade 3/4 class did the pioneer tour for the day. The tour guides were incredible, they held the kids captive with their stories and the hands on activities. They even have pioneer clothes for all of the children to wear for the day. We ALL left with greater knowledge and appreciation of how the early settlers lived when they first came to Canada.

Fantastic place to go when you need to just go out and do something for a change of pace. We went has a family for a field trip(we homeschool) my children loved it, loved seeing everything, loved being able to touch something's and just be able to go into the older buildings. Our son loved the train and our daughter loved the school house. We will be coming back for sure, especially this summer on Sunday afternoons for their events.

I have driven by the place many times not even noticing it, when I noticed it I remembered coming for school trips. We decided to swing in and take a peak to see if the place had changed at all and if we remembered any of the same stuff from our childhood. I gotta say place hasn't changed much, but it is still a great place to check out. The place is really big and had a lot of cool stuff. The museum inside and all the cool old style buildings throughout to the property, not to mention the train and all the assorted equipment that was used to pioneer the changing land. My favourite is the old 1920s car that was made in Barrie, and the train. You could definitely get some cool pictures here, and gain some perspective about the history of the area.

This place is really neat. It has many different artefacts and exhibitions which are organized very well. They capture the different times and eras in Canadian history. It has something to do both indoors and outdoors, all year round too.

Cutest skate trail. The museum is great for families especially with smaller kids. Love that the museum is donation based, right now there is even a star lab exhibit. Skate rates are a little pricey but its a beautiful area. Snowshoeing available too!

Went there on family day for tobogganing. Had an amazing time! The only complaint was that the hill was poorly marked; as in there was no signage for the hill and it was easily a ten minute walk from the rest of the venue. Otherwise would highly recommend.
