Really a great museum outside of Ottawa! A must see for everyone interested in planes and history!
Love this place. You can also fly to it ❤️
wonderful people and very organized
Really liked it. Because of covid a few exhibits are closed but otherwise a great experience. Great staff!
Our daughter loved all of the aircraft and exploring. Her favorite part was the space exhibit - she was fascinated by it. My favorite was the Lancaster.
I enjoyed visiting this museum a lot. Specially space section was so interesting. Canadarm was there and a simulator for it.
This museum was interesting! Lots of cool planes and space technology to look at, nice historical summaries and excellent staff and volunteers. Compared to other museums in Ottawa, I would say it's less interactive so younger viewers might not appreciate it as much. You mostly just learn about the aircrafts and look at them, there's not much to touch or play with. This was the first time I went so its possible that some of the interactive components were paused due to COVID restrictions, but if the museum would consider letting children board some of the aircrafts (similar to the museum in Petawawa), or witness simple physics experiments, they would likely find it more engaging. Either way, for participants 12 and up who can read and like learning about military aircraft history, I would definitely check it out.
Always enjoyed this museum. Had a nice time with my family, despite some things being closed due to Covid precautions. But that's understandable. What would be really nice to see at that museum, even if it was only a temporary display, I would like to see this museum get the Avrocar. Maybe do some type of trade with the Smithsonian.
The museum has some items you will not be able to view anywhere else, like the Canada Arm 1 and the cockpit of the Avro Arrow so that was amazing. It did appear fully booked, but they did have space for us to enter, which was awesome. The reason for 4 stars is the flow through the museum felt a little out of order and the upstairs (science) portion was closed.
A great place to spend hours with your friends or family. It has a good amount of airplanes built or used throughout the Canadian history and not only, from the first ever to fly in Canada to some of the latest warplane jets. There's spacecraft models and plenty of interactive demos to lose sense of time. Flight tours just outside if you feel like flying. Highly recommend it!
Great place to learn the history. 20 minutes free visit between 4pm -5pm.
I spent a whole day at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and Phew, why had I not done this previously. I was blown away!!!! If you are in Ottawa you have to do this visit. If you do not your trip is not complete To learn my most loved plane, the Lancaster was actually a Canadian plane was a source of pride. I saw the Spitfire that plane that shaped the destiny of the world and the Messerschmitt 109 ( if you know, you know) and my day was complete..
Great place to visit
Nice quiet place to talk about feelings
Great place to find out about Canadian aviation history and innovation. Try to get a tour of the reserve hangar, where there are some very unique planes and each one has a story.
Happy to be able to sneak in a quick visit for free from 3-4.
Such a wealth of history.
One of the most fantastic museums in town. The display id magnificent.
While the total size of the museum is comparatively small, there are plenty of interesting airplanes to see and learn about. The staff and volunteers are very kind and helpful, of course offering plenty of additional background information on the exhibits. There are also some kid focused exhibits and activities which were great for our family with two toddlers. Loved the visit and will certainly return another time.
It was enjoyable. My son liked the exhibits but some of the interactive/photo spots could be fixed/better maintained.
An incredible collection in an amazingly up close environment. With beautifully maintained aircraft from all ages of flight, and still highlighting canadas contributions to the field, this collection is a must visit for all aviation enthusiasts, and an a wonderful visit for new comers too!
Ride the red bird experience was great.
The museum is great if you're really into planes or the mechanics of the ISS. Sooooo many cool old planes on display, and the staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. Be sure to ask questions if you're curious.
Great place to be. children and adults will like it
I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The staff is knowledgeable. The exhibits are awesome, tons of aviation history in one building. Allow at least 4 hours for a detailed look at most everything. There's lots of stuff for kids as well. Expect to pay for parking.
Very informative visit. The space part is simply amazing.
I’m not an aviation fan but this place is really really cool! However, many sections were closed due to Covid.
Awsome place for whole family. Lockers are 25cents otherwise there is open lockers
The best museum we visited with the kids. Fun was had by all of the family, with great interactive exhibits for the kids, and a load of interesting history for the parents. We ran out of time on this visit as there was so much to do.
Very good place to go with family. There are many parking places for 2$ hour or 8 $ whole day.
Exciting museum with very rare exhibits.
I met William Shatner here a few years back at the Star Trek Convention. Also Odo and Q. What an amazing experience that was. I also bring my daughter here and love looking at all the planes and space exhibits.
A well organized and presented collection, with very helpful staff, and incredibly knowledgeable volunteers
One of the many reasons why I love living in Ottawa is the abundance of world class museum at our fingertips, and this is a great example of this. With exhibits spanning the history of aviation, and space exploration its full of things to do for all age groups. A shining example of history and education to ignite the imagination. Will definitely be going back again.
Lots of nice planes. My 7 year old kids, boy and a girl were amused at first to see all of the planes but it quickly faded. The part they liked the most was the section about the space program where they can interact with some of the displays. For people like me though, the whole museum was very nice and informative.
Awesome location that takes you through the aviation history and achievements in Canada. Lots of historic aviation relics from around the world along with tributes to Canada's space explorations and innovations
Great place if your kids like planes. A bit of an older museum and not as many interactive items as there are in other museums in the area. If you go to the back you can go outside ans watch planes takeoff and land at the small airport. This is also a great place to celebrate Canada Day!
If you are a fan of aviation that would be a fantastic place to go.
LOVED this experience! Best collections of aircraft on display I've ever seen, and even included the nose section of the Arrow. Solid gift shop as well. An absolute must.
I love planes so it is a heaven for me, my kids also enjoyed the place a lot, i dont know how 2 hours passed so quickly. I had time limitations, need to come back to Toronto otherwise i would hv spend 2 hours more.....
Amazing displays and aircraft. A must see
Cool planes and stories.
I love the museum its small but it takes a lot of time to visit. You can pay a parking for 2 hours bit if you really like to read and explore everything pay for more time the parking. Its very good idea that they have volunteers and they used to flew so they can share their experiences. Also you can take the flights the min rate is 35 dlls per person... so if you wanna explore on the air is good option and if not there’s flights simulators so you can imagine you are the pilot and its super cool to experience that. The store has many interesting things and some of them are pretty expensive. For the kids there’s things to do and the staff involves them so nice. And the museum is clean and the staff nice too.
Very nice museum, highly recommend this place for the whole family.
The place was wonderful for any1 interested in Avaition. I loved the World War planes. Due to covid they have cancelled in person tours including the plane rides. Thanks
If you are a “aviation” lover, this is where you need to go. Crazy how they have real planes from the 1900’s to 2000’s. I was there during COVID so a few activities were closed. They seems very cool. A lot of reading, the visit took me an hour and a half to do it.
Great museum detailing out the aviation history and specifically Canada's contribution. Great place for kids, really enjoyed it. If I am not wrong, they are only offering online booking. I didn't see any on the spot ticket counter. Parking is not free, its $3 per hr.
For anyone who's a big fan of aviation, this museum is a great stop. There isn't much to do for younger kids short of riding the wooden "planes" in the centre of the museum so they might lose interest. Great selection of various pieces of aviation history. I was a bit surprised at how little "space" there was in the museum. Hoping next time we return there will be more. This is one of those museums where you pay admission but then extra for all the bells and whistles (extra to go in the simulator etc.) so be prepared to pay above ticket price for the full experience.
Fascinating look into Canada's aerospace history. A large hall full of vintage aircraft allows visitors an insight into how the industry has developed over the past century. Good selection of military and commercial aircraft and some fun interactive exhibits which are great for people of all ages
Better book your tickets before you go
I've been going to the museum at least once a year since I was a kid. As an aerospace nerd, it's absolutely fantastic, covering aircraft from pre-WW1 to the current age, both civil and military. I highly recommend that fellow aviation buffs also try to get a tour of the reserve hangar - it's worth every penny.
From 4 to 5 the museum is free and a great space to let toddlers roam with limited boundaries! My daughter especially loved riding the planes and seeing the big yellow helicopter!
This museum was a 4.5 star which gets rounded up to 5. Some of the areas were closed because of lack of volunteers which was unfortunate. Some interactive stuff for kids to handle which is nice and they loved. Would have loved to see the inside of a fuselage and be able to sit in it as a group and really get the feeling of being in an aircraft. Lots to do in such a small area. The space shuttle exhibit was very well done and I'd go back just for that (without the kids). Well laid out and a good use of space.
Overall a great museum, lots of different aircraft from one of the first aircraft ever made to modern day jet fighters. Very large variety of aircraft and even some helicopters if your interested in aviation history this is a great place to visit! Especially for WW2 era planes they have huge four engined bombers to one of the first jet fighters to the spitfires and 109s we all know and love. Highly recommend!
Definitely one of the best museums in Ottawa! We spent almost 5 hours there reading about each plane. Wish I was brave enough to fly in the biplane! Seems like it had a lot of good stuff for kids as well. Super affordable entrance fee. My only wish is for the space sections to have as much detail as the planes and helicopters did.
Unbelievable Place. A Must visit with your kids.
For aviation enthusiasts. There were a lot of airplanes with some additional paid simulators. Possibly informative and educational if you read all the wall texts and labels. I enjoyed my 30mins walk around all the exhibits. Pity that some information panels were not working/lighted so I could not read them.
Good location, parking and accessibility. Buy your tickets online and pay your parking at the reception desk. Some parts are closed due to restrictions. Still totally worth it, especially if you get the ride afterwards. Attendants and pilots are polite and professional. A must if you visit the capital.
Fun experience
Really fun and enjoyable experience, would’ve been made better if the one way walking rule was not in place.
We visited the Red Bird flight simulator. It was a great experience. Got to fly a Cessna from the museum to the airport. Really fun. Would definitely do it again. Great for any one interested in planes. We are in our late 20s and had a blast, but I could see people both younger and older enjoying.
Excellent collection, friendly and knowledgeable staff. One of the best museums in Ontario!
A great experience, either you know about planes or you don't!
An amazing place to take toddlers and young children. There is often interactive programming and the staff are friendly. ... No outside drinks tho, so finish your Starbucks enroute.
It was a great to visit the museum. After museum we purchased the Cessna/10 minute plane ride to Ottawa downtown. That was amazing.
This is one of the best museums I have visited. If you love planes and aviation this is a must see. There is a lot of informative stuff for kids and adults to see. I would recommend anyone to take the 45m tour with the guide otherwise you would just be looking at random planes. Our guide Amelia was excellent. They have guided toir in English and French every alternate hour. It's very specific to Canadian history in aviation. You can also get a short tutorial on how to fly a Cessna plane. You can also take a real bi plane ride for $65.
Good for kids and adults alike. I liked the red bird simulator.
Great aviation and space exhibits. Lots of planes to see and many interactive exhibits
Not worth for 15 dollars, but there are some interesting things to see
Far too many planes for my liking.
Very nice place for kids and adults
Prety good place to visit
After many renovations and more attractions inside, kids will love the arcade games like machine to show and explain everything in a fun way. It is such a beautiful arrangements of old planes that many functions are held there and even weddings.
Had a wonderful visit with my family.
Very nice all the exhibits relate to Canadian Aviation
Good museum.. well put displays.
This is a really good museum for anyone who loves planes. It is not huge but it is a good size. They also offer some great activities for kids where they pretend to go to space and explore and you can even pay to take a ride on one of the old planes that are still flying. They also have a space section.
Fun
Nice museum, everything was very explained
A really great museum with a good collection of airplanes, many with historical significance. The museum is arranged nicely without being overwhelming. Great place to learn more about flight, space exploration and to bring the kids!
This is a must visit if you're in the Ottawa area. It is not only educational but also provides interesting interaction events for kids of all ages. I especially enjoyed my last visit as I got to take a ride in a biplane (for a cost, of course).
While having the option to visit wonderful, COVID limitations made it much less enjoyable
Incredible museum, with some carefully restored original planes, including one that was fished out of a lake after 40 years! The Lancaster is the best on display. A must see for aviation buffs.
Very nice museum, just sad that half the attractions aren't available due to covid. May go back again in the future.
Great place to visit if you're interested in the history of aviation. Not many modern planes but lots of information and displays of historical aircrafts. Note you can only reserve and buy your tickets online, no walk-ins during the pandemic.
A lot of planes but little information giving into why they were designed the way they were/differences between them. Very little for a layout just a big hanger with some subsections.
Great exhibits!!! Took a while to check everything!!
This was a great experience. Wonderful displays and friendly staff. Flights were available on my visit. We enjoyed a beautiful tour over Ottawa and surrounding area.
I was very impressed by this museum! It's huge with an incredible collection of planes. The museum gives a good overview of the history of planes and aviation in Canada. There are also some exhibits on space flights. Unfortunately, due to covid the interactive parts were all closed. It's too bad because they looked awesome. The gift shop is also really great with some very cool space and aviation themed things.
Great museum and experience even with the covid restrictions
Kids enjoyed learning about the history of aviation. Unfortunately there's just not that much about space here, so the name is a little misleading. Also, most of the interactive displays are closed due to COVID.
Amazing place to visit and see the history of aircraft and airplane before 100 years
Great experience for all ages. Only the aerospace section was closed off during covid. Definitely a place to visit when coming to Ottawa.
The museum itself was cool , but if you are planning to go there during covid just know their guidelines are a little exaggerated... we brought our newly 3years old son and they told us he had to wear a mask . Now I didn’t get to enjoy the tour because this one worker wanted us to make sure my son was wearing his mask appropriately so I had to keep pulling his mask up everytime he would putt it down . Even tho it’s not recommended for children under 5 years old to wear mask they still insisted ????
Great place to visit
Highlight of Ottawa visit. Spent the day there checking out all of the exhibits and demonstrations. The crowd wasn't very big, which was a bonus as you could take your time and not feel rushed. We took a 20 minute flight over downtown Ottawa, for a little over $100 for the 3 of us, which I thought was quite reasonable. Definitely lots to see here, and the kids enjoyed it too!
Very informative and rich history
A fascinating journey through the history of aviation. There's tons of rare planes and interesting trivia and the guides / volunteers are super knowledgeable. The space section is amazing if you're interested in Canada's contributions to the space program and is always up to date with the latest developments.
I always love it here. My son is two and a half years old and he can't get enough of it. Always interesting, always Interactive and lots of things to do. I only wish that parking was free. The little cafe might also consider offering more child-friendly options.
I went with my family and the kids liked it.
This is an amazing museum. There are some genuine jewels here, like the Lancaster. It is pristine. Also the WWI collection including 2 Sopwith Camels, SE5, Fokker DVII, and others! On WWII, Spitfire, Hurricane, ME109, Komet, Lancaster and more! Even a Tiger Moth. Also later models, helicopters, jets and space. Do not miss it! Allow at least 2.5 hours for the visit. Paid parking $8. No free parking. Free admittance 4-5pm. You can hire plane rides over Ottawa, book these early, they sell out.
Went for the space portion (neither of us cares for planes), paid full price, nowhere does it say that the entire space exhibit is off limits (no excuses given, neither Covid nor renovations). Just closed. Because the museum wants your money but doesn't want you to go anywhere on premises to see anything space-related. Aviation only. Disappointing.
If you love aircraft and aerospace, you will love this place. Fun for he whole family. And is also at a functioning airfield. Not to be missed. Last hour of the day is free, but paid parking is required if you take a car. Public Transit is also available.
Awesome place an dream place for a aero mechanical student
An excellent history of flight available thro' all their displays. It was well worth the visit.
Great museum, but best if your kids can read. This museum is one of three Ingenium museums in Ottawa (the other two being Agriculture and Science and Tech), and it is a fantastic way to get up close to various planes since the dawn of aviation. I have a couple of young kids, and quite a few of the activities require explanation, so they need an adult close at all times to really enjoy it, which is different from the Science and Tech museum where there are more hands-on, exploratory activities.
Very cool museum with lots of amazing aircrafts. Love the Canadian arm on the space shuttle and the spacesuit of Chris Hadfield. We spent half a day there and it's adequate for us to go through the display. Remember to book ahead during the pandemic as we saw some visitors got turned away as they had no advanced booking.
Great place to spend a few hours with the family.
Amazing museum. Lots of information and interesting stories.
Wonderful displays of Canadian accomplishments. Interesting, informative and a great opportunity for the public to participate in aviation and spatial explorations and past or present adventures!
Was there for a kids birthday party. It was so well organized and the kids had a blast. Considering having my kids birthday party there next year. The tour guide was fantastic and she kept the 6 and 7 year olds engaged the whole time. Just an overall good time.
If you love aircrafts of all types and mechanical interested then this is it. Aircrafts from different eras on display. handicaps accessible, parking and accessories were readily available for those needed to come to view all the displays. It is for all ages to spend quality time with the family and have fun while learning the evolution of aviation.
First time back since the pandemic. It felt really good. Our 4 year old was so excited to see all the planes. We were happy to be able to do it safely. Masking was mandatory and upheld. Staff were present and helpful. Distancing and capacity felt comfortable. So many awe-inspiring exhibits. We really enjoyed it.
Always a great visit
I'm not a plane fanatic but I thought it was pretty cool. All the planes and all the activities that they offer here are awesome. A bit pricey for plane rides but worth it.
I just love it.
Best and nice
Absolutely beautiful museum. In these strange times of Covid the staff was extremely helpful and made the visit as normal as possible.
Great static displays and some interesting interactive displays. Nice to learn about Canad's contribution in air and space.
Interesting museum, lots to see and read. Great for adults, not the best for young children, unless they have an interest in aircraft. Would return.
Great place for everyone.
It was nice. Not big place
Can't believe these are real airplanes. Amazing museum!!! I like that you can take a plane ride there!!!
My first ever visit and I was mesmerized by this place. For aviation and history enthusiasts, this place is heaven.
Nice place for an educational family outing with kids. Has quite a few activities for kids like fight simulator, space station simulation among others. In addition it offers 4 pm to 5 pm as free hour for all. Parking is also affordable.
Interesting collection. Too bad the space part was closed due to covid-19
So many amazing things to look at, big planes, engines, we loved the ornithopter! The labels could sometimes be written in a more child-friendly way, I often had to translate it to kid speak for my son.
Good place to spend a few hours with the kids.
Great place to see this history of aviation in Canada. Also took the bi-plane flight. While I am very nervous with this kind of activity, it was surprising very smooth and we really enjoyed the flight.
a super great collection of airplanes and space to see and it is worth to go 2 days because there's so much to see and great staff
We had so much at this place. It was a great experience for all of us. My husband tried the red simulator flight for addition $20 on top of our admission but it was for 15min flight and he said it was worth it. The place is huge and a lot of interesting planes to see. I personally love their little space museum area as I've learned a lot of interesting facts about life in space.
A small but very interesting museum with a good collection of planes and aviation history.
One of my favorite museum in Ottawa. Many different airplanes and the free guided tours are very nice.
If you have any interest in aviation this place is a much visit. The reserve tour is a nice extra although might be a bit boring for kids.
Awesome, my son was amazed with the exhibition, the customer services was excellent
Perfect family afternoon spent learning about aviation history. Interactive portions for young kids and active runway outside (perfect location to eat your packed lunch and watch the planes land).
Stopped here I the way home from a ski trip in Tremblant to give our young passengers a break from the car. The displays and historical significance of the planes on hand was incredible. The museum really helps you understand the historical context and contributions of Canadians to international aviation.
We went there on Wednesday. It was closed.
Good place for kids to know about Canada’s space and aviation history. I would not recommend it for adults as it is pretty boring. They have a bunch of planes and thats pretty much it.
Loved the museum but we would have stayed longer if we had a sweater! It was pretty chilly inside while it was scortching outside. We're retuning tomorrow for the plane ride because they were fully booked for today.
Great place to bring your family! A lot of original aircraft from the history of aviation. A fair amount of hands on exploring- fun for kids and adults alike. I do wish there were more water fountains. Parents- if your child's class is going on a field trip here definitely volunteer!
Has some cool interaction and the kids run around. The space section is also neat. BUT there could more activities for the kids and the presentation are a. It over young ones heads. But still a fun afternoon.
We had a great time at this museum. There is so much history. They have olden days plane which had wooden propellers. War fighter planes, helicopters, rescue planes, bomber planes and much more. You can learn about the Canadian astronomical arm or Canadarm, too. It’s great for kids 7years and up!
Best Museum in Ottawa! As entertaining for kids of all ages as it is for adults. We had a very good time.
Great museum!!! This museum has plenty of interactive activities, despite other reviews. Added bonus was the space museum section. I learned the most there! Museum is clean and well layed out. Was disappointed that in addition to the entrance charge you have to pay for parking, seems like a cash grab, as the Hamilton museum is free parking.
This was a pretty good museum and there were good planes and the space part was very interactive
I have two boys 5 and 10 and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They display the life size planes in chronological order which make for a great and easy learning experience for the children. Currently loads of social distancing measures in place, most of the interactive experiences are closed.
Great museum for adults and kids. With the pandemic ongoing the interactive exhibits have been closed but hopefully they will find a way to safely reopen them soon. The grounds are also great to hang out on before or after your visit with picnic benches, play structures and planes taking off and landing in the background.
Loved it.
Amazing museum. Well laid out and very educational
A great place for anyone interested in airplanes and space.
Very interesting museum
Great place to view and plan a plane ride. Like a 1939 Biplane!
Very awesome lay out and collection of planes. But it's better for someone who has a vast interest in it. Definitely worth a visit.
Friendly staff. Lots of aircraft on display, great place for kids.
Excellent layout and amazing exhibits of planes from every era. Wasn't busy at all so there was no waits to check out the mock up cockpits. Plenty of photo ops. The space exhibit and canada arm was a nice addition.
Very nice place to visit
Interesting museum. They have even plane made in Poland called MiG 15
Great Canada Day, lots to see and do here.
Nice place
Great way to spend 1.5 hours as you learn about Canada's aviation history. Very clean and spacious museum.
Loved it. The museum is really well organized and you can tell they put a lot of effort into their exhibits. It's a real treat if you have kids even slightly interested in aviation.
Enjoy the beautiful aerial view of majestic ottawa and Gatineau from the world war 2 biplane. Must do activities in the city. The pilot was wonderful and the view was worth it .
Great collection of airplanes of all eras. They have the varest WWI and WWII Luftwaffe fighters.
A must museum to be at. Lots of history lessons to learn here. Keep your eyes sharp and pay attention to small details. Read as much as you can--all while having fun taking beautiful photos.
Went here on a school trip a couple years ago and I enjoyed it.
Got to fly a plane it was super fun i would rate more but i cant highly recommend. the only thing is there were some things closed because but i still really enjoyed the place
Good museum for aviation fanatics. Worth a visit.
Good place to understand the history of Canadian aviation. Good place for groups and you can worry easily spend upto 3 hours in this place. Recommend it. But bus facilities is not so good and very few buses go nearby. Take time and enjoy the place.
Awesome experience!
Thee Aviation Museum is great! A lot of WW one history there - and my kids love WWI and WWII history!
Great planes
Very cool museum. So many planes!!! You have to buy your tickets ahead of time and choose a time which means you have lots of room to walk around no big groups all together which is great. My 9 year old really loved it and my 2 year old had fun just walking around and jumping on the directional arrows. My husband and I really enjoyed all the interesting facts we learned a lot ;) The only thing is that I wished they had more things about space. My son was a little disappointed that there was only a tiny section about space but seeing a real suit that had been up in space was totally awesome ;)
A lot of small planes in the area. Free access
A stunning collection of passenger and military aircrafts, interactive and fun for all ages. Definitely worth the time to see some rare and beautifully restored planes.
You can find a collection of canadian aircraft here, starting from the early development of the aircraft. There are two aircraft from Germany during world war 2.
Brought our son to see the planes, had a great time, fantastic displays and staff is very friendly.
Great place and airplane exhibition.
It is an awesome place. I like the tours they have, they even have a tour for kids with activities and an outdoor playground. The exhibitions are very interesting. This is definitely a must see.
A great place to spend time with kids, but it could also be attractive for adults.
I love airplane museums. When we arrived to find out that we should have pre booked I was very sad. That was only briefly as they put us in a line that within ten minutes had us paying for tickets and gaining admittance anyway. So huzzah! The number one reason to go here is to see the remaining piece of the Avro Arrow. What a sad reminder of Canada's potential greatness in the fighter jet industry. There are tons of other cool aircraft and artifacts though. One really neat display is how different types of landing gear operate with moving models. The reasons I can't quite give the museum 5 stars are 1. The maze you are directed through is a little bit non sensical in the order you see things. You get a bit of old and then some new and then cutting edge and then old and then medium. 2. Much of the space exhibit (I think the upstairs was all space) was all closed off. And 3. Lots of the interpretive signs were poorly lit and therefore hard to read. It is still well worth making the trip out.
I love the history of Canada Aviation
Great collection of civilian and military aircraft and some nice history stuff. Some interactive exhibits were closed due to covid, but still had a good 2-hour visit with timed entry tickets to limit crowding.
Lots to see and well laid out.
Great place to see aviation history and technology. Also liked seeing the electric car exhibit on Canada day
Super. Big plane so nice wow
Fantastic history, with a great focus on Canadian aviation. Also like that you can catch a city flyover in a small plane right from the museum
It is the right place to visit with kids. My three years daughter enjoyed the site. We were three people and paid about 42CAD. You will find a beautiful collection of flying machines from classic to modern, even some warplanes. Models of International Space Station are also exhibited. They also have a section to demonstrate how astronauts perform their routine activities on Space Station. I enjoyed informative videos. Paid parking on an hourly basis. I would recommend paying for at least 2 hours if you don't want to rush. You can take photographs. Visit "Canada Aviation and Space Museum" and see how human developed the flying machines during the 100 years.
Great place to learn about aeroplanes. My kids loved it. We were entertained and happy. Update: still great.
The Canada Aviation and Space Museum is a fantastic place to go to see Canada's rich history of contributions towards aviation. Within the two huge hangars there are hundreds of displays ranging from a replica of the first aircraft flown in Baddeck Canada (Silver Dart) and others including; vintage pioneer bushplanes built by Dehaviland Canada and Canadair air transport aircraft, as well as Canadian engineered engines built by Pratt & Whitney Canada and Orenda Canada. There is also many military aircraft on display at this former Canadian Armed Forces Air Base. Prior to covid, they had special events and education programs lead by volunteers who would share their knowledge and passion of aviation history making a memorable trip for all to enjoy. Despite the museum's closure due to covid you can still peek into the windows and see the aerobatic Snowbird aircraft on display at the museum's entrance. Then explore the grounds of the museum and see the RCAF's Canadair CP-107 Argus maritime surveillance aircraft on the museum's ramp. The name "Argus" comes from greek mythology for a big monster with a hundred eyes. A very appropriate name since the aircraft was loaded with state-of-the-art anti-submarine avionics equipment. The aircraft also carried an armourment of bombs, torpedos, mines and depth charges. While it is great to see the aircraft outside it is disappointing that the aircraft is not being properly preserved. The aircraft will decay more rapidly by being exposed to UV light and seasonal weather. The fibreglass composite black radomes (the big black bubbles under the aircraft's nose and belly) in particular are more sensitive to moisture and will crack and turn to dust if they are not protected. I highly recommend you coming to this museum to marvel at Canadian built technology that can be found around the world. If you like my reviews, photos or video give them a thumbs up and take off eh. Lol
Amazing experience. One of the best places to visit for someone extremely passionate about aviation industry and its history.
Fun visit. I loved the Lancaster, it was amazing being able to see it in person. I didn't think it was that big! The Labrador and Sea King were pretty cool, as well as the older WWII and WWII planes. This museum really makes you see and appreciate what the pilots had to go through back in the day. The lady I talked to on the floor (Marie) was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain a lot of things to us about the planes. I didn't know Peter Jackson was involved in the museum! I missed out on the simulator but hopefully I can come visit again when it opens. The volunteers also do a fantastic job. It's a great place to visit.
Very happy to visit this historical place I been educated about the evolvement of aviation industry during history time line
The biplane tour is a must try for anyone visiting the museum.
This is the most amazing museum I had the chance to visit. Ok, I am a huge aviation fan, but still, this museum is so great. I was like a kid in front of every single plane, helicopter and fly ... things :) I had so much fun in the space area, almost touching the sky and seeing myself has an astronaut, spationaut or cosmonaut. Like a dream coming true. I booked and helicopter tour of Ottawa with Heli Tremblant and had another tour in a small plane. That was super fun. I ended up having a bite and a drink at the cafeteria, and also bought some souvenir at the store. Such a great place to spend a day, or even an afternoon. I definitely recommend.
Very excited as a fan of WW aircraft. Couldn't go inside any of the aircraft so that was disappointing.
I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The staff is knowledgeable. The exhibits are awesome, tons of aviation history in one building. Allow at least 4 hours for a detailed look at most everything. There's lots of stuff for kids as well. Expect to pay for parking.
I love this museum and visited it several times over the years. Very cool.
If you like aviation and history of aviation this is the place to be. The time required to view the museum depends on if you want to read the aviation history and about the details of the aircrafts or not. Aircrafts are from different periods and are very well marked. There were some cockpit experiences but currently was closed due to Covid19. Bookings need to made online. Free visit on Mondays from 3 to 4. You can also have a close view of the famous Canadian Snowbirds.
fantastic place. I could have spent the entire day here. so much information. incredible static displays. a must see. wish this was closer to my home in Regina.
Simply amazing! The variety of aircraft on display is just breathtaking. Any Aviation enthusiasts wild dream to be standing next to historic aircraft, both civilian and military.
In my opinion is a nice place to go with your kids.I would recommend just if you have a time to visit something but have no idea where to go and it’s the last option available because I don’t think the museum has a good access from public transport.
A really awesome place! Bring kids! It's worth to get here even from the m mtl! À place to visit 100500%
This place has so many amazing historical aircraft, and they offer tides in a biplane and helicopter!
There's a taxiway spectating area at the very back of the museum. Don't miss it! They also seem to host birthday parties and weddings.
So nice and informative Canadian aircraft and space history museum! 5 hours of outstanding amusement. Kids and adults loved it as same. Great experience!
An incredible collection in an amazingly up close environment. With beautifully maintained aircraft from all ages of flight, and still highlighting canadas contributions to the field, this collection is a must visit for all aviation enthusiasts, and an a wonderful visit for new comers too!
An excellent place to study the history of aviation and the development of airplane design. Perfect as a family activity/daytrip. Be there when they open to get tickets also for the guided tour to the second hangar.
Excellent museum with vintage planes and exciting exhibits on space and Canadian astronauts.
Great place to visit. I feel like a kid every time I go. HIGHLY recommend visiting if your are in the area. Like any place right now, book your tickets ahead of time, and the museum is also closed on Tuesday.
Though some of the area was closed due to covid19 precautions, but the experience was out of the world, must go for curious minds and growing kids.
Loved it. If you like flying, try the biplane ride. A one in a lifetime experience!
Very interesting museum containing planes from different time periods both from civil and military aviation. Highly recommended to visit during a visit to Ottawa.
Great Exhibits. Nice place to spend an afternoon with kids.
Good place for a 2 hr view of aviation history. A lot of simulators are closed because of covid.
The full history of aviation AND BEYOND!!
Excellent museum with a wealth of imformation on the advancements in the field of aviation, focusing on Canadian impacts on the field. Very interesting to see many authentic aircrafts both new and old. Activities that are both kid and adult friendly. Gift shop and little cafe available as well. It is one of the smaller museums though so it will not take you the whole day.
I always enjoy visiting this national treasure, espescially to pay my respects to RL 206. The admission on this Saturday was free after 4PM.
Really interesting, some exibitions are closed due to covid, but it's still really nice to visit.
Great place ????
2nd floor was closed off entirely so we didn't get to see most of the Space Exhibits. Additionally, anything you could sit inside of like planes & simulators were also closed off. It felt like we got to to experience about 40% of the museum while paying 100% of the price. We left feeling a little underwhelmed which is in stark contrast to other Museums in Ottawa also operating under Covid restrictions.
Great experience. Atmosphere was good. Place was good. Beautiful aeronautical exhibits and civilian aircraft.
Amazing views!
Wonderful displays of Canadian accomplishments. Interesting, informative and a great opportunity for the public to participate in aviation and spatial explorations and past or present adventures!
Cool collection of planes, helicopters and even cars. It's free after 4pm. You can reserve the place for special events.
It was absolutely a great experience. Some of the planes were unique model tha you would never see anywhere else.
I was impressed! I loved the air crafts specially the war air crafts with the missile! Huge.. i didn't expected it to be enormous! And the space chamber with all the videos... wow...
Good place to visite.
Plenty of real historic planes. Most plaques explain about the aircraft and where the particular one on display is from. Models ranging from the beginning of flight all the way to modern day CF-18 and the canadarm. Great place for the aviation history buff.
Loved it! Good place to take your toddlers and older kids too.
Nothing related to space, can finish in 30 minutes.
What a fantastic experience - especially for aviation enthusiasts. Took me over three hours to go through it. So much to read and look at . Definitely worth the $15 to get in. No question about it !
They have done such an amazing job at the Aviation museum! So many interactive items on the exhibits made it non stop interesting for the kids. The space station area is really cool and the Boeing take flight into the future is exceptionally well put together. Free for military and not expensive at all for the kids. A very easy go-to activity on a weekend in Ottawa.
Always a fascinating place for an aviation and space nerd like me to visit. I highly recommend a visit to see the Canada in Space and Health in Orbit exhibits..One must also experience the 15 mins plane trip over Ottawa. It will cost you $35 extra (on top of the entry fees) but it is worth it..
Very nice collection and facilities. There’s enough here to keep adults and children entertained for hours. Having to pay for parking seems like an unnecessary money grab but that’s the only negative point.
The space is enormous, well laid out and included tons of interactive activities. The cost is reasonable. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. We spent over 6 hours here. The gift shop was also one of the most stunning shops I've seen. My teen boys loved it. Highly recom
Excellent service and team
Very cool place even my 2 years old enjoyed it.
Meeting for members of the Royal Astronomy society of Canada at this splendid museum
I'm from the US and it's a different take on aviation. Much more focused on rescue and remote operations. Very interesting
I would recommend the extra tour of the Hanger, which has a limited number of guided tours per day. I believe the tour lasted about an hour. Many interesting planes in there in different states. They were either fully restored or in the process of being restored. The Hanger tour guide was very knowledgeable as well.
It is obvious they turn off the A/C during the night. The museum's ventilation was inadequate on August 8th @1340. The humidity was so high in the place or skin was clammy. HVACs are not made to be played with during a great wave folks. Oh and COVID really need up the expositions and hands on activities.
Its a nice place to be at if you wanna have a look over your Capitol. Staff is friendly and nice as well. Check out the museum also great place.
Great! Everything well organized in one big room. Cool to see some of the 'only one in the world' or some of the 'first made'. More signs need the "this artifact is...." because it's cool info!
A must see. Free tours.
Super awesome!!! Fun times. It was great to see a lot of these icons in person. You really don't get to appreciate the scale of these machines unless you get up close and personal with these machines. To see the tiny air frames men would take to the skies in the second world war. Then compare them to the size of a CF18.... Wow.
This is a truly impressive complex filled with a whole range of models spanning pretty much the entire history of flight. From the early biplanes, to modern fighter jets and a whole range in between. Take pictures with some of the most iconic looking planes ever, and learn about the technology that powers it. This would be a wonderful place to go to inspire kids to be engineers. If you're at all interested in planes (and maybe even if you're not) it's very worth visiting. The last hour of the day is free, and that's just about enough time to do a walk around and take a quick glance at everything. They also have plane rides and an observation area for the attached airport during the warm seasons.
Beautiful museum with so many interesting examples of aircraft from Canadian and world history.
Beautiful museum with so many interesting examples of aircraft from Canadian and world history.
A lot of different Planes, not so good for children, air space area not that big
Big collection of amazing aircraft, spacecraft and other artefacts from the dawn of flight to today. Some of these machines defy the imagination with their incredible capabilities. Awe inspiring. Lots of interesting info on plaques. It's mostly hands-off, but there are some period cockpits for kids to sit in. Big clean bright space, nice staff. Good gift shop. And a memorial to those who gave their lives in air defence and the development of human flight.
Really impressive engineering and technology
Great displays. Took an hour but could be longer if you like
Flight ride is awesome. Kids love it. They acted as pilot for few mins.
Great spots for taking pictures
It's definitely #3 in terms of the ingenium museums but it's including in the membership so worth a visit.
If you love aviation, you'll love the museum. Lots to explore and you can book a flight over Ottawa and Gatineau. Parking is extra.
I love planes.
Great collection of aircraft that all have historical importance to Canada.
Really cool, you get to see real planes and learn all about them, definitely recommend
Awesome museum! Would recommend to anyone of all ages. There are exhibits for people of all ages and very interesting and one of a kind planes.
A really cool site for people into engineering!
The museum itself was fantastic. Of you're into military history and war planes, it's full of wonderful facts and artifacts. However, the gentleman offering the helicopter tours body shamed my family and I looking us up and down and surmizing that we were too heavy for the helicopter ride. In spite of my efforts to believe he was kidding he rudely insisted that he was not. It's one of two things, he was either body shaming us or drawing conclusions based on our race or ethnicity, neither is acceptable!
Totally worth the trip there. But the astronaut I've cream!
wow this is one of the bet museum i've visited, a lot of fun and interesting things to see, the fact that planes are real size it makes you feel as you'd be different periods and places, you can imagine better parts of history, will definitely return there. also on place is a company that offers helicopter flights ( as passenger :D ) and it can be interesting for some for sure, at least for me was my first experience in a helicopter, and was great... would repeat that for sure
Excellent service and valuable artifacts.
Wonderful experience attending the change of commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force
Excellent museum and we had an amazing biplane ride as well
The Biplane ride was very adventurous ☺️????
Great place to check the history of Aircraft and space explorations
Amazing exposition and you can actually learn something new.
Would I Recommend? - ✔ YES Would I Return? - ✔ YES I'm not an aviation buff but that being said I truly appreciated the educational value this place has. I was very impressed with the aircraft on display, the materials they're made from, how they were used, what were their setbacks and how a different model sorted those issues out. You can take a guided tour, or perouse the displays at your own pace. Either way, it's a great place to visit.
It had been a while since I last visited so the space parts were great additions as well as the extra space. Also seemed to have a few exhibits from the old science museum that were nostalgic and still working after fifty years. Highlights include the modern fighter Jets, the Avro Lancaster and Avro arrow remains. The temporary Boeing exhibit was good as well.
This museum is a very interesting place to visit in Ottawa, for adults and kids as well. It relates the evolution of aviation aeronautics and space sciences. Many new exhibits each year. You can also try helicopter, biplane, CESSNA plane tours, try flight simulators and have an idea about civil and military use of planes and other related technologies. Great museum.
It's nice and clean. Great detail. Enjoyable experience. The covid 19 methods are exaggerated though. Nowhere to eat even if you bring a sandwhich. If you leave you can't come back in. So make sure if you are going with young kids that you don't plan to take a snack or meal break. We had to cut our visit short because my 5 year old needed to eat. I thought guidelines would be like the nature museum where you can sit and eat in peace and then get back to exploring.
Great place !
A great museum to visit if you're into Aviation. Very friendly staff. Parking machine wasn't working correctly so they gave me a parking pass for free that was nice. Museum was nice clean fun to visit kid friendly. Also they're following covid protocols stringently.
We had our wedding reception at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum on January 18 and we could not have been happier with the location. Everyone was enchanted by the museum setting and loved being able to view the exhibits during the cocktail hour. The dinner was set-up in the middle of the museum which means that we danced and ate surrounded by planes. The event staff was great and very accommodating. We would recommend that museum for your next event in a heartbeat!
had a great time with the kids... kids loved it and cant wait to come back..
Amazing !!! Well worth the visit
The guide was great and she took us on an hours tour of the various planes on display. The talk was fascinating because it told us about the war planes and how the aviation industry evolved. A must visit
Really enjoyed seeing all of the planes and aviation equipment. It's a great time to go if you're into planes, engineering, or seeing the kinds of tin cans people were willing to get into and fly. The flight over the city really nice. Just make sure to get their goggles. Don't wear just your own glasses, otherwise you'll be spending most of the ride making sure they don't get blown away.
Solid museum. Lots of air planes explaining a history of aviation like you might expect.. they even have a f104 starfighter. They have the front of an arrow... you can buy short flights in biplanes small planes and helicopters. Great for kids.. also pretty cool if you want to see some fighter jets up close... including when Canada actually was well equipped with fighter jets.
Truly worth the visit! Decent collection of aircraft. Come after 4 pm and it’s free (if you’re fast you can see the collection in an hour). Plane and helicopter rides available. Slightly pricey but totally worth it. The biplane is rather rare so if you’re a big aviation buff this might be the only place to fly in this aircraft. Definitely worth your time for a stop!
Amazing place. Great collection of airplanes that were part of the history of aviation.
I liked the museum it had a lot of history of the planes and also space history.
The rating is only because of covid. And will be changed eventually. So much info and so much different types of planes. The downside is that the demo were closed. It would have been nice to get in the cockpits. My experience with my 4yo: we powered through the museum in 30mn :( one day i hope to go alone to really enjoy all of the data available. My son still had a blast and enjoyed watching planes land and take off. There is a picnic area and a playground. Pay your parking wisely. They are airplanes tours available on site.
Great experience and loads of new info.. recommend if you can go with one of their tour guides.
Great great place for those who loves aviation!
Amazing. Planes, astronauts, old cars, history... What a great experience for kids and parents. One of the bests I've seen with planes from 1908 till today. I really enjoyed it.
Great museum for anyone who loves planes and wants to sit in one to press all the buttons (children love it). It's easy to spent lots of time here learning or making quick visits with the kids to burn energy. The membership included the science and technology museum as well as the experiential farm. Highly recommended for families which pays off for itself in a few visits a year.
Staff and Volunteers are very helpful and kind
Awesome I loved it !!! Best indoor activitie
I like aviation and history, so I enjoyed this. When we were there you can also go up in a Cessna for $38/family. I think, maybe double-check.
This place is amazing
Nice place to visit on the holidays and kids enjoy this place even more
A fun museum packed full of historical planes and great learning opportunities!
A Beautiful Building to Visit,,,,!!!
A museum about planes, and a bit about space. Given the covid they made a one way path through most of the exhibits, some are closed because they don't allow social distancing. Cesna and biplane rides are available and are awesome. Staff was super friendly and strategically positioned throughout the museum. Can't wait for all exhibitions to be open.
Canada Aviation and Space museum should be on everyone's list to visit. This museum has birthday parties for kids and they seemed to be having a grand time. I enjoyed the detailed descriptions of life on the space station. The history of aviation in Canada was also very interesting although a bit disappointing how much it seems to be tied in with the military and wars. There is a toddler play area and free strollers for babies. The Ingenium family membership is an incredible deal. Parking and admission for your whole family for under $200 for the year.
It's very interesting to see difference from then and now.
Overall, excellent. I was a bit disappointed on a few of the interactive displays that were closed due to COVID 19, but could have been open...overkill.
Loved the planes and it was great that we could get in with our Ontario science center membership.
This is my favorite museum in Ottawa to visit. Nearly all the airplanes here are real and in amazing condition. They also have an actual Canada arm on display as well. There is a section about living in space. There is also a few cockpits to try. There is a flight simulator as well at a rate of $7 for 5 minutes. The team working here is also knowledgable about the planes and artifacts inside. I highly recommend this museum.
Amazing museum with an outstanding collection of airplanes from the 1800s to present. The highlight for me was seeing the Avro Arrow.
If you like space and aviation you'll probably have a good time here
Great place to visit at least once.
Pretty cool place to take the family or to have a wedding reception!
Very beautiful.
Plenty of real historic planes. Most plaques explain about the aircraft and where the particular one on display is from. Models ranging from the beginning of flight all the way to modern day CF-18 and the canadarm. Great place for the aviation history buff.
Lol
Very fun, quick and clean museum. Was a bit challenging for a grade one field trip. Would have definately enjoyed it more with older group. I will come back and enjoy it with my dad. Staff was very knowledgeable and patient with kids.
Good place
Very interesting. Not great for little kids but my teen liked it a lot. I was quite impressed to know that the planes and satellites are the real deal.
All the aviation and space history you will ever need.
Very nice aviation musium✈????
Great place kids loved lots of very cool planes
Awesome museum! Very clean and friendly staff!!! Tickets are affordable, and the aircraft here are kept in good shape. A few of them had deflated tires which was unfortunate, but I guess that happens to aircraft over time. They are following covid guidelines and you must purchase tickets online prior to entering. (You can buy tickets on the website)
Lots of fun and interesting info to be had! Sarah the tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable! ???? The kids loved all the plane exhibitions. It was well worth the price of admission for a family of five ($42 taxes included) Highly recommended for a family outing.
Well organize and feels safe. One downside is that you can only do one loop through the museum
Most interactive facilities are closed due to COVID. Not a lot of space-related items, but has a lot of cool WWII and WWI planes. Overall an awesome facility.
Enjoyed walking around and learning a bit of Canadian Aviation history. Unfortunately when we attended most of the extra exhibits and shows were closed.
Superb museum. Must visit. From first to present airplanes on display.
Lots to see and learn about aviation in Canada from vintage planes to modern planes and helicopters.
Nice museum to visit if you're going on vacation somewhere near the area.
It is a great museum
Love coming here , used to work on the NorthStar Project aswell!
Awesome space in our history.
Lots of planes, some exceptionally cool ones.
Had a few hours to kill in Ottawa. Hopped on a bus and got to the museum. So many planes, so much history to learn, and a lot of interesting facts. Great for any history buffs and plane enthusiasts. It is a little out of the way from the downtown area. But I would say it is worth the trip.
If you know what those wings belong to, this is the museum for you! That little plane looks like it's smiling so I had to include that. Disclosure: I attended the doors open Ottawa 2017 even and these pictures are from the reserve hangar.
Go for the biplane ride! You won't regret it!
Cool place to learn the histry for kids and for adults. Everything was spread on one floor, very informative. Freindly stuff. Ended getting a lot of cool things from the gift shop. Also was able to go on a plane tour. That was the highlight of the day. Awesome place
Lots to see. Plane and copter rides available but expensive.
A bit dreadful not to be able to buy a ticket at the place and had to reserve one in advance online, aside from that everything else is good.
Amazing place. Kids had a blast. I personally couldn't tear myself away from the BF 109 & the Me 163 Komet. Love that thing. A must see museum for sure, great scenic drive to and from if you want to take the parkway as well, makes for a great afternoon. Had one of the better gift shops too.
i used to bike down the aviation parkway as a kid to go there every day in the summers to see all the cool planes and space stuff. this is a super cool place for girls and boys to enjoy big neat things. now as an adult, i find the location doesn't really offer anything new unless there is a special event, which the do really well there EG> Star wars or star trek exhibits.
Fascinating range of aeroplanes that are well displayed.
Very beautiful and amazing collection of historic airplanes.
What a great day (by myself, without kids). Full of fantastic artefacts and information that tell the incredible history of Canadian and global aviation and space exploration. Well done and highly recommended.
Neat museum with lots of aviation history inside from all over the world.
Visited here during the COVID 19 time. Learned alot about aviation. They have to bring more collection of flights like modern and Military ones
A hidden gem. Plan on two full hours, minimum, to explore everything.
Great open space. Fun planes for kiddos to ride. Went there for a wedding and it was a very unique venue.
Nice new space exhibit.
It was a really fun trip definitely worth it.
An amazing museum to learn about Canadian aviation history and accomplishments. Well worth a few hours of time. Don’t forget to stop by the gift shop before you leave.
Took my nephew here in the summer and they do a good job of engaging children.
If you like history and aviation this is a perfect place for you!!! They have a lot of planes from past and in pretty good shape!!! For little kids they have mini plane to make a "ride"????
Went to the Star Party at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum hosted by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada! Was cool to see all the people come out to enjoy looking up in space! I would highly recommend people to check out these events! They also do a Star Party in Carp! Look them up on Facebook and it will tell you where and when the next event is!
A great museum. Plenty of activities for kids of all ages. The exhibits are informative and interesting. If you get the chance spend the extra money for the tour of the storage hangar, lots of cool planes and artifacts on display. Plan at least 3 hours to tour the museum. My son loved the space station exhibit.
Very interesting, first time but not the last one!
Supper cool place.
Decent collection of planes and other aviation artifacts. Lot of restrictions in place due to COVID. Second floor was closed. There is a model of the Robotic arm of the Space station. Worth a visit, please plan for a couple of hours.
Always a must whenever we visit Ottawa such an incredible museum and the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable.
Great place to visit with family
With covid, must reserve online. Very informative. Provides a great visual impact, too. Good for all ages
What a way to spend a Sunday.
Great museum. Has cool events for kids.
Awesome cruise over to museum, couple nice view points along the way. Awesome planes and space things. Quite interesting. Cafe as well.
A very interesting museum of aviation. There are many real planes to ser
Awesome place highly recommended
The museum is very interesting & has many great artifacts. However, the desk staff are not polite and are unhelpful! Taking a private telephone call about a dinner party whilst a customer is paying the entrance fee and asking a question is very rude. A short time later and after 1 in the afternoon, politely asking for a leaflet in English received the reply that - they only had French map available until the afternoon! They need some re education to be good front of house staff!
Love this place, was there for a company event but would absolutely recommend a visit if you like airplanes or history or both or just like museums in general. Admission is free daily between 4-5 pm which I think is awesome ! They've got some WWII planes, some first gen planes made out of wood.. it's a super cool museum.
Good place for an aerospace geek! $8 parking daily and $3 per hour.
All about the history of flights exactly what I wanted. It takes about an hour and a half tour. Or 2 hours at Best
The museum isnt fully open due to Covid restrictions. Disappointing. You are done in less than hour.
Great history lesson. Too bad there was no interactivity allowed due to covid restrictions.
The Aviation and Space Museum is a family favorite. My children love looking at all the different airplanes and learning about aerospace history. There are different types of airplanes from smaller single engine planes to larger military planes. There are various events and exhibitions that take place at the museum- my children enjoy the Canada in Space exhibition and love viewing the original Canadarm that is on display in the museum.
Some interesting and historically important aircraft in the museum. This is a fun museum for children. There are some interactive parts on some of the exhibits which the kids like to fiddle with. There are numerous photo opp areas for the kids, too.
The Museum was amazing I loved everything inside especially the model of the Canada Arm on the ISS
Awesome place to learn about how technology changed so fast and history about planes....highly recommend a visit.
Despite Covid, is a beautiful place to visit.
Extremely cool to see the greatest hits of Canadian aviation. The space stuff is equally amazing. For sure worth the trip.
Went on a bi plane ride amazing time. Plus love the new addition.
I mean, obviously, being a public museum in Ottawa, they definitely get a bit patriotic in here, but… seeing the history of Canada's aviation industry is cool! Lots of authentic old planes, lovingly restored, with succinct descriptions of their history. They also give demonstrations of various things a few times a day, and I found it really cool how they had some plane cockpits that you could get inside and flip the switches inside!
Amazing place. Great collection of airplanes that were part of the history of aviation.
Higley recommend!
The best space and aviation museum. You can see aircrafts from the first flight to present day.
Loved this place. So cool to see all the different types of displays! Definitely recommend others to come here :)
Interesting!if you go between 4-5 before closing it is free
My son absolutely loved the wide array of historical airplanes. This museum is the perfect place to take little kids.
I love this place. Full of knowledge to discover. Passionate and savvy tour guides. Learned a lots in plane. Would return for sure.
What an amazing experience and wonderful way to see the city. 100% worth the price to see Ottawa from above :)
Super impressed with the space exhibits. Loved the bilingual videos with Canadian astronauts about life in space. Little ones liked riding little wooden airplanes around the hangar. Neat computer flight simulator. Even little space costumes and dehydrated space ice cream in the gift shop! They also offer a summer camp for kids.
This museum is well worth a visit. We intended to visit for an hour and stayed three! Even with the grandchildren. The staff are really helpful and enthusiastic!
Just took a helicopter ride from here. It was awesome and I would do it again
This place is for Aviation lovers with some Canadian Aircraft history. Nothing so enchanting about it. Also, 2nd floor was closed and which was not informed earlier which was disappointing :(
Super interesting my only regret was not taking the ride in the biplane
Due to covid, some of the exhibits were closed. The flow was not organized in a meaningful way. There was some awesome items on display though
We stopped in here while on vacation in Ottawa thinking we'd be there for an hour or two and ended up being there for four hours. We probably would have stayed even longer but it was almost closing time. There is an amazing variety of aircraft to view and learn about as well as the space exhibits. We highly recommend taking a guided tour if possible. Our tour guide Katie was very knowledgeable and seemed to have a genuine interest/passion for her work. We were able to learn a lot from her.
Closed tue wensday. HAVE TO get tickets on line, pay for parking at a meter parking.
Awesome for kids and adults alike! Big enough that even when it is busy you aren't cramped for space by other patrons. The exhibits are well kept and fantastic!
Bought tickets specifically for the space part , but everything to do with space was closed. Almost all the activities in the museum was closed as well. The parking meter to pay for parking is also broken. No where on the website says the space exhibits are closed. They should definitely update that.
Excellent history with in depth explanation for all exhibits.
Buying tickets online is frustrating. Just hire a cashier. People are better ambassadors.
Great place to learn about the history of Canadian history
So Many section did not open but the place is good for learning. If you have time, you can try fly with afford price
Fairly large collection, but many of the interactive exhibits are closed “for your safety”. Proof of vaccination and a mask are required for entry; we’re as safe as can be.
Awesome. I was surprised with the collection of aircraft some I thought were long lost to history. Some very rare.
This was a great place to take my son. Hes only 16 months old but he loved looking at all the planes
Very interesting and impressive, a closer proximity to the planes would have been nice mainly due to poor lighting but I understand the issues they would have to deal with. Some documentation could be more complete, the small info panel left me unsatisfied on many items but the newer Boeing and space section are very well made. Could use a little attention on the kids friendly exibitions where parts are broken and seats fabric is holding together with duck tape. Worth the stop if passing by.
It is AMAZING. Must for Aviation and Space enthusiasts. You find planes from the age of right brothers, then WW1, WW2 and in between to an FA-18. They also have German, British and Russian Airplanes. You can also get a tour guide. The Space section is also very well set up. The Canadian Arm of course and some actual space experiences like an astronaut view from the space station. I suggest to take the full day parking at $8 if you really want to appreciate everything there. I am saying 2-3 hours. Next time I intend to try out the simulator priced at $20.
Definitely worth going! I was visiting from Toronto and it was absolutely worth my time. Its very cheap considering what they have to offer and students get a discount. They have mane exhibitions year round, tons of planes, helicopters, jets and other models. They also had great interactive exhibits and simulators.
Very interesting and informative. Lots of planes inside!
My wife and I were so excited to do our wedding at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum back In August 2018. We went to discuss our wedding plans with the museum manager, and were happy with the venue and the things that she offered us in the beginning. After we had paid the full rental amount as per the contract, they took away some event related equipment that the manager had verbally agreed to have for the wedding. We had to run around last minute to pay other vendors for the items that were required. We also had e-mail communications with the museum's coordinator about our event, but realized lots of disorganization and lack of communication between the staff. Two days after the wedding, the museum charged us $500 security deposit claiming that we made changes to the floor plan on the day of the wedding. We asked our wedding planner about this later and she confirmed to us that when she showed up to the venue, the museum's set up of the tables was not the same as the museum's updated floor plan which was approved by the museum's coordinator prior to the event date. We brought this up to the manager, but were disappointed with her reaction when she claimed that our vendors were aggressive which was not true and does not qualify to have a security deposit charged. After confirming with our wedding planner that this is not true, the manager started pointing fingers at other vendors in the event. The manager did not want to reimburse us for their own mistakes and lack of proper communication between her staff. On the day of the wedding, we were told we cannot use dry ice which was paid for and the manager had verbally agreed on prior to the wedding. Although the venue was nice, my wife and I do not recommend this place for anyone as the service was poor and not trustworthy.
Guided tour by Erin was educational and fun. The museum’s collection is outstanding. The hangar was a nice surprise.
Great display. Make sure you are there for the 1130 or 130 tour of their second hangar! Some really cool aircraft hidden over there
The museum was pretty neat and have a good range of exhibits but for the price we paid i would expect more. They had the second floor closed off and some exhibits hidden due to restrictions so they should have provided a discount on the tickets instead of charging full price like street fraudsters.
Cool! I like it.
Perfect for the aviation aficionado!
Great place to bring WW veterans and childrens, plus you can celebrate weddings, birthdays, and why not to commemorate the life of a war hero or a pilot.
Awesome place. There is lots of event for kids. After 5pm on every thursday, Entrance fee is free!!
Very interesting place to visit. Great for all ages fascinated with aviation history. Seen some things I never knew existed. Still operational through covid. Definitely worth some time.
Had so much fun visiting the museum with my girlfriend and her family. Almost 150 planes (half of which are in the additional hangar, costs an extra fee, definitely worth it). Great information, fun installations, helpful and very knowledgeable staff. If you want to fully explore though you'll have to schedule atleast 4 hours to do the whole thing. Very cool, would come here again.
Went during covid and I feel like I could've get more
Went there to see the Eyes in the Skies display. Very good but numbering the various displays for Eyes in the Skies would have made it easier to view them in proper order.
Great place to bring the kids. They also offer chartered bi- plane flights.
The exhibits were interesting but did not feel significantly different to other exhibits I’ve been to. In particular (although I suppose unfair), it felt very familiar when compared to some of the hangar exhibits belonging to the RAF Museum in London, England. That said, it was great fun even with quarantine precautions: You are only allowed to traverse the exhibits in one direction, may not traverse the exhibit more than once, and must book your tickets ahead of time (limited # of spots for each time slot). Some exhibits are closed (understandably), some which are interactive no longer allow interaction, etc. The gift shop is still open though if you’re into that. The collection of aircraft was interesting but would be disappointing if you prefer modern aircrafts. There are a few jet fighters and what looked like the head of an Avro Arrow, but you’ll find much more biplanes and older war birds here. Finally, unlike other museums I’ve been to, If you are a CAF member you actually need to call to get free admission. The exhibit took us around 1-1.5hrs to complete.
Good place to go for the aviation nut.
This is awesome place. There are different types of plane and helicopter. My son is plane lover and enjoy this place. The visitors must visit this place if you visit Ottawa.
Well done.
As others mentioned, the space section is a bit small but the aviation section is the best. I have been to the plane museum in Hamilton and Langley and this one is the best. Its exhibit is organized and spacious. Good to spend time with family.
Good place for kids
An excellent exhibition of old and modern aviation artifacts and history. Many priceless airplanes and helicopters. The crown piece of course is the Avro.
Amazing for aviation lovers!
Great family outing, you can take a plane tour for 35$ a person for 15 min max 3ppl. Spent about 2h there. Parking 3$/h
Love this museum. Maps out the Canadian aviation history as well as Canada's aerospace accomplishments. Fun for big and little kids alike. Very clean, well laid out museum with a fair number of interactive exhibits which the kids love.
Really cool! Great way to burn 1.5-2 hours!
Was a blast!!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. So we'll laid out, in spite of the covid issues. We especially like how each exit has a factoid explaining a brief history of the piece as well as the general history.
It was really fun and interesting
Kids loved this place. Lots of different aircraft from different eras to view. Definitely worth the visit
The staff is great.
Really awesome museum that has a lot of different aircraft. The place is huge and filled with interesting displays. Super enjoyable museum.
Lots of fun and full of so much knowledge! Great pictures to aid understanding. Magnificent pieces shown and talked about.
Nice museum, lots of neat old planes
We love this museum. So many interactive thongs for the kids to do and a great little playroom they always have lots of fun in. We can easily spend a few hours here. The cafeteria could be a bit better though...
Great place to visit for adults and kids. We came on a Sunday and there is a presentation for children at 11am where they can dress up as astronauts and pretend to go to space. Fantastic exhibits and very clean. Not busy at all. Paid parking $8 for the day, but you wont likely need all day to go through the museum.
The staff was very informative! Karen went above and beyond to share knowledge and provide a fun environment! Parts of the area are sectioned off but it is still a great time !
After revisiting after the pandemic, the museum's display has been updated a lot, and the various layouts are more innovative, making tourists linger.
Amazing museum, although a lot exhibits are currently closed (ie the other hanger and the second floor space exhibit) but once those are open, it's very well laid out and maintained. You can also fly in a biplane (extra ofcourse, not Included in the admission)
Absolutely beautiful area and well kept up. Caution a lot of new pilots training here. It can be entertaining but it can be dangerous as well. If you go up in the flights be careful not to be shot at by the Red Baron
Amazing place full of historical and modern planes. The gift shop was also great, maybe one of the best. Very friendly staff.
Awesome museum.. To visit in Ottawa
Excellent museum. Incredibly helpful, and extremely knowledgeable staff. I've been studying aircraft for 30 years, and was taught many new things during my tour. The exhibits are superb, and in many cases unique. It also had a very good display of the development of aircraft structures. The display of synchronisation of WW1 guns, was the easiest to understand I've seen.
Really cool museum. At lot of different aircraft to look at. Too bad I didn't do the tour in the extra hangar. Good for people of all ages.
Very well preserve historical aircrafts.
Great for young kids, not enough buttons to amuse them for a long time. I take my 2 kids for a hour at a time, so they don't get bored. Cool and very easy to access. And the working airstrip behind is great to see helicopter and small planes take off and land!
Extensive collection of planes to view. Very strict Covid rules. With nothing else around I thought that charging for parking was kinda ridiculous. 1 hour is $3.50 and the day is $8.00.
Informative museum with an extensive collection of aircrafts.
Awesome explanations. Staff is there to answer what is not written
Went flying with Pilot Greg on the biplane tours of Gatineau and downtown Ottawa. Absolutely loved it! Great experience, lots of fun. Smoothest take off and landing I've ever experienced. Would do it again, but this time in the fall.
very good tour it hurts that the flight simulators are closed, the staff are very friendly
This is a pretty cool museum for aerospace buffs. They have a wide variety of planes and jets from throughout history. My two favorite things were space related. They have the actual Canadarm V1 that flew on the space station on display as well as an extensive exhibit on Canadas astronauts focusing on Chris Hadfield. The space exhibits had some neat interactive displays.
A great museum for anyone interested in airplanes and space! There’s lots to look at for both kids and adults, and there are even toys for the wee kids to play with. The tour guides provided lots of interesting information and insight, particularly about Canada’s contribution to aviation, and outside the tours the volunteers were also great at stopping to chat and provide extra information. I especially enjoyed the space section, and it was fun to imagine what it would be like to live in space. The cafe staff were friendly. The gift shop has a great selection of stuff for purchase.
Really great experience! Great for kids and adults alike. Massive spaces and plenty of interesting attractions( too many to count). Plenty of details about the evolution of plains, and how Canada has contributed to their evolution. Wheelchair access, gift shop, a cafe. The space section is equally interesting with videos and pictures of different launches, experiments done, and Canada's contributions.
Good place to visit. Friendly staff. Thank you.
Beware, the space sections are all closed even though the website says they are open. No warning until you get there with your excited kids and are let down
A wide collection of aircraft, mostly Canadian made, resemble the best of the Canada aviation industry. Exhibiting some rarest birds including the only remaining traces of Avro Arrow, CL-85 Dynavert, Me 163 Komet and Me 162. It is worth mentioning that the story of each individual aircraft on display were mentioned, which is not common in other aviation museum. Exhibitions were informative and interactive, and the museum is very family friendly due to different activities for kids. As an aviation fan, I spent 5 hours to go through all the exhibits, and will definitely recommend to other tourists who come to Ottawa.
It worth watching, you have chance to see old airplane from 2nd word war ????.
