In St John's for the weekend with work. Spent most of a day wondering around. Popped in the museum for an hour to have a look, great to see the history behind transport including ferries. Brittany was most helpful, especially with taking some photos of me outside the museum. Definitely worth a visit.

I think the place is closing down. Looks nice inside, I liked the railway lines display by the gift shop. Gift shop was well stocked and I bought a nice poster!

Robin de Bled

Small but quite interesting history of the railway in newfoundland. Small children will probably get bored with the exhibits but the model railway seems to hold their attention.

John ostrom

Really cool

Brian Carey

If your a railway buff or want to partake in Newfoundland history than this is a must see!

Daniel Smith

Sad to have came all this way to arrive today to hear it’s closed for the season after calling the automatic machine. The front door still says Open 7 days per week as does Google places. The only museum in St John’s closed in September for ‘the season’.

Phil Adams

Ashley Jerrett

Went for a Birthday Party and it was a really great experience, definitely recommend!

Ajay Sankar

Good place to spend some time. More of ships and harbor history than actually trains though.

A great history of the NL Railway. A family place with lots to see for everyone of any age!! My son always had a love for trains so we always took him here. A train inspired play area is located inside for little ones to have some play time during their visit!! A real trian (Not in use) is located just outside the museum. My Kiddo loves to play on it, great spot for pictures !! Also located near downtown, with Many places to grab a bite to eat after your visit

Took my kids there for a birthday party and I was extremely impressed. They have a really well organized set of activities and it was educational. I just wished that healthy food was served and that there was a train that they could go in.

Nice museum that guides you through the journey of St John's history of Coast and railway

Dustin Mitchell

If you have kids that like playing with train toys, this is probably a good call. Otherwise.. this is not much of a museum, unfortunately. Mostly posters, which are not uninformative, but there is a distinct lack of artifacts or interesting content other than text. The model train lay-out needs some love. The train geek in me left disappointed..

A fascinating trip into the history of Newfoundland, and the way that the NFLD railway interconnected previously isolated communities and promoted economic growth in Newfoundland during the 1900s!

philip “Vinyl Music Club” barton

Damian Saliken

Great spot to learn of history. It would have gotten 5 stars if they allowed for a train which we could go inside to discover and I found it awkward having to ask for a remote to choose the video I wanted to watch

The biggest waste of money. $30 for about 5mins. The walk through at the Newfoundland Chocolate Cafe was WAY better. Terrible service as well. We walked in and the girl stopped us if we would like a ticket. I said sure? And she took off for 5mins which ate into our time. Stood their for nothing she could have charged us after we walked through very dissatisfied and disappointed in the service especially since we were with elderly.

My kids and I love stopping in here from time to time. Whether for a special event they are holding or just to get out of the house. Parking is limited for special events, the trains outside are perfect for photos and the information is geared towards all ages through games, toys and videos as well as models/displays.

Kevin Damen

The museam is very nice, full of interesting things. Both ships and trains... The working train set is a nice touch, My two year old loved being at the museam, he loved playing with the toy set. If you bring your child to the museam be ready to be here a long time. A long long time. On the plus side they have a off button for the train set. You will know what I am talking about after you are here for a few minutes. Once your child is playing with the toys and no longer watching the trains go round and round... have them turn it off. So much better

James Dwyer

Good representation of what it was like when Newfoundland and Labrador had a railway.

Having to leave the theatre area and go to the front desk area to ask an employee to play a video for you isn't worth the effort. The videos should be on a continuous loop. It also wasn't very interesting and not enough authentic memorabilia. The engine and train cars outside are in deplorable condition and there should be tours through them and tours through the train station. In my opinion it's a pathetic money grab.

While the museum could use a bit more interactivity. As a museum it has much historical detail, displays, and a area for kids to play with a train going around a depiction of Newfoundland.

(Translated) Much liked, beautiful, large and well presented. However, at times you feel like you are no longer in a train museum. Talk a lot about boats. (Original) Beaucoup aimé, beau, grand et bien présenté. Toutefois, par moment tu as l'impression de ne plus être dans un musée de train. Parle beaucoup de bateaux.
