A very good museum to have a great time.

Definitely recommend checking out this museum. The exhibits are great, and while there was a lot of focus on the Beothuk, there were also exhibits about the history of the Mi'kmaq, early settlers, mining, the fishery, and paper mill. There was also a large room devoted to rug hooking - which may not sound glamourous - but the rugs on display are truly pieces of art. It was an hour well spent. The building is wheelchair accessible, and the entry fee just $5 for 2 adults. There were also items you could purchase, and I bought a Forget Me Not pin (see picture).

Note that the museum is open April 29 to September 30 only.

This museum is small, but it is nicely done. Plan to spend about half an hour here.

Good for families and groups....

Nice place, they have a smallish permanent exhibit about the area and its history, and another area for rotating exhibits. Some of these are going to be better than others, but my daughter liked the one they had during our visit (dolls).

The exhibit has really improved to world-class. The timeline description of the Beothuks in NL was beautifully done. The inclusion of Shawnadithit's pencil sketches describing her experience is amazing. We also enjoyed the temporary exhibit of hooked rugs, to which Jackie Alcock has contributed some gorgeous work.

Wonderful little museum. As little remains of the Beothuck culture, these exhibits are not very large. A half an hour will cover the whole thing.

Small, but very reasonably priced ($2.50 for adults) and a nice set of artifacts. Half of the museum is dedicated to a children's exhibit that nevertheless proves informative to any accompanying adults. The curators are very knowledgeable and able to recommend further reading and interpretation.

Very nice to see. Great memories of making the film Finding Mary March back in 1986 with Red Oaker Productions
