Very informative and guided are super interesting. Very neat tour.

A wonderful time every time.

Oh I got to say this is absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend this to anyone just loves Bell Island ❤

Very informative and helpful staff.

The story of the miners where touching my heart.. Respect for our lives today.. Great

If you can take the tour with Bonnie, do it. What an incredible experience! She's a real Newfoundland story teller - she could sing me the phone book and it'd be happy. This is a stop not to be missed when you are on Bell Island. Dress warmly... The thermometer in the caves said 5c

The museum had great artifacts from Bell Island past. The mine tour was awesome with our tour guide adding personal touch.

Nice place to see , worth a detour if you visit island . Guide Geraldine was passionnate and you can truly feel it !!

A beautiful historic Island with a memorable mine.A must see.good for kids and adults alike.

The #2 mine tour was great! Brian was an awesome guide!!

Absolutely fantastic. Museum and mine tour were so interesting. The tour guide had intimate knowledge of the operation of the mine, primarily because she had relatives that worked in the mine. Well worth the visit.

Guide Bonnie was informative, funny, knowledgeable and more. A great tour...one of the best I've ever been on. The history of iron mining in Bell Island is fascinating

Funny tour

Every time I go home and I always go to Bell Island, one of my favourite places. This time I took some friends over from BC and they loved the place. I have done the mine a couple of times, but this time I asked about Military discount, and the guy said military and Veterans are free, bonus, thanks For treating our Vets and Military that way Bell Island, as a Vet I thank-you. And the tour of the mine is something everyone should see, truly amazing and the work these men did, words cannot describe it, have to see for self to see the outstanding work. This place is Ryder and Yance Approved and recommend for sure.

A great time! The tour guide was really into it and gave us a great adventure. If you get a chance, check it out.

Don't put off visiting the mines anymore. It's a once in a lifetime experience that will leave you changed for life as you learn of the heartache and struggle of the miners and their families surviving the harshness of underground mining and the severe climate on an island in the North Atlantic.

Amazing experience with lots of interesting stories and artifacts to see.

Had a great time, I thought it was expensive until I got through the tour. Worth every penny. Will be visiting again.

Fascinating and moving tour!

You have to the mine tour when you're here

Fantastic tour of the IronOre mine with tour guide Brian...the rest of the island has lots of interesting spots for photos...

I have visited Bell Island a month ago. That is very nice place that need to be visit for travellers.

Good place to visit, you must visit at least one time to the mine tour,

Amazing tour!!! So much to see and our guide Bonnie was wonderful. It was very interesting to see the mines and would highly suggest going.

Brian was an amazing tour guide! Awesome time!

If you go to Bell Island, you have to go here. Lots of interested history on here

The mine tour is awesome. Tour guide Bernie is very knowledgeable and funny, her character makes the tour very interesting! The fact that you can actually walk into the mine is super cool! Definitely recommend to anyone who are interested to know more about mining industry on Bell Island.

The tour guide was so helpful and funny. Very interesting exhibit and tour.

This is a great historic tour, the guides are very knowledgeable and the whole experience is worth at least two trips if you are into just an interesting tour or the deeper history that the site holds.

This is a great thing to do. It's a really unique experience. You'll learn a great deal about mine life. It's quite something to be down there, and Bonnie our tour guide, was a great storyteller. She made it so real with firsthand, local stories. Nice coffee and gift shops too. Real personal touches throughout. It's part of a really nice day trip over to Bell Island! Loved it!!

Great price, enjoyed the museum and tour. Great staff!

This is a very interesting tour filled with lots of stories and interactive elements, highly recommend.

It was great

The museum is amazing as is the mine tour. Bonnie did an amazing job on our tour

Loved it. So much information from personal stories of miners and their families. Very interesting!

Lots of fun

It was very good the tour guide takes a group of us down into the mine and was very informative explaining how the cave and mine were dug by the workers. This tour takes about 30 to 50 minutes. Once we enter the building we were greeted and directed where to go. There are bathrooms available. We pay for the tour then head down to put on out protective helmet.

Very cool place to experience and see, how many museums do you have to wear a hardhat in. Remember to bring a coat even if it is hot outside!

A very interesting experience. The mine is a piece of Newfoundland history and you actually get to go down in it. Bring a sweater it is cool down there.

This is one of the best day trips you can make from St. John's . If you make it to the #2 mine tour make sure you end up on Bonnie's tour, she is incredibly knowledgeable and has so many personal connections to the mine you'll be hard pressed to find a more informative tour guide in Newfoundland.

It was good but not enough staff

A must see if you have never been in a mine shaft. Interesting history, wonderful experience

Wonderful tour guide and a super interesting tour through old mines. Extremely informative and our wonderful tour guide sang us a song in the dark which was a really nice touch

Went there with my kids and we all really enjoyed it. It's spooky in an old mine at first but then learning about how it was run and life in the mine made it interesting. Loved it. Will go again :)

Awesome tour, Fox is awesome!

What an amazing tour. Our guide Ed knew all of the details and provided not only a tour but an “adventure” . Would recommend to all visiting the island.

Lots of great stories from the tour guide and the museum has lots of interesting items. The u-boat artifacts are a must see.

Really enjoyed our visit to the Bell Island Mine Tour + museum. Our tour guide, Fox, was extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun! I attended the tour with a family member who is visually impaired and the path was very even and accessible (steep stairs to get into the mine, though). It's chilly down there so bring a jacket and warm shoes; helmet and light are provided. The tour was synced with the ferry arrival and began about 20-30 minutes after the ferry docked (plenty of time for the drive). Our only frustration was that the tour was slightly too long (1 hour) for us to make the next return ferry comfortably. We headed straight to the ferry as soon as the tour was over but missed it by minutes and had to wait and hour and a half until the next one. If you're heading over to the island, I'd plan for at least half a day once the ferries and tour time are factored in.

Surprisingly good. The tour is absolutely fascinating! Great tour guide with a family connection to the mine!

Fascinating!

Went down the mines. Awesome!

Mine tour was so wonderful, but bring a jacket for sure. The cafe has a great Jumping Bean coffee roasted specially for the tour. Highly recommended

Amazing tour!

Had a great time at the museum and the mine tour!

Interesting,

Was very impressed with the size of main tunnel and the side tunnels.natural flooded area up to the 600 foot level with fresh water.. What an opportunity for thermal heating operation.

Such a wonderful and informative tour. Thanks Brian!

The mine tour was very fun.

A must see.

Excellent, excellent, has to be seen.

Incredible tour. Brian was a great and insightful guide

We had a really great time doing this tour. Brian is a fantastic tour guide with a wonderful presence, tons of historical information and the added depth of having grown up hearing his grandfathers' stories of their own experiences working in the mines. If you're in the St. John's area, the trip over to Bell Island and down into the mine is a must-do experience!

Brian was an awesome tour guide. Well worth the very reasonable admission price. Definitely check out the tour if you are travelling to newfoundland!

Thank you Brian for a wonderful tour into the historic past

It's an experience to see how it was to be a minor back in the old daysmy great-grandfather and his father and his father all worked in the mine and it was very interesting seeing how they worked and in what conditions

Great tour. Learned lots. A must do if you can get there.

Great tour with real artifacts! Our tour guide, Bernie, was wonderful and helpful!

very informitive

A small meusum dedicated to mining history. There is a good AV area where you can watch the show too Don't forget to pin you home loctation on the visters map before you go off

Fascinating tour of underground mine and museum.

Great tour. Learned lots. A must do if you can get there.

Brian is an amazing tour guide, really went above and beyond. The whole your is amazing, not just for kids

Absolutely blown away by how interesting this tour was. From the museum to the mine to the amazing story telling ability of Bonnie! Very unique experience!

Pretty good tour. Energetic staff

Worth the trip. Fun and knowledgeable tour guides!

Interesting history.

A great tour of an interesting sight given by an entertaining and knowledgeable guide. Well worth the stop.

Nice little museum and an educational visit to the underground Iron Ore mine. Also have coffee shop, gift shop. They have a Bell Island map and Ferry schedule there. Note the ferries don't always leave on time.

Great place. Was a walk through history

Interesting visit. Ed, our guide, with is talent to tell stories related to the miners and the region, made it memorable. Thanks Ed.

Fun trip with the kids

Chalk full of history

Wow! This was an incredible tour of the mine with heartfelt first hand stories of men who worked under the ground of Bell Isle. Never expected this. Absolutely one of the highlights of our trip.

Couldn't ask for a better experience

Excellent introduction to mine. Part history part adventure.

Wonderful tour today to Bells Island mine, our guide, Gereldine, was extremely knowledgeable regarding the mine's history. Highly recommend the tour! Also our ferry ride to and from St. John's was incredible! Thank you for a most enjoyable ride.

Fantastic tour of the mine with our guide Ed. Interesting artifacts in the museum too!

The tour was very educational. Our tour guide Sarah was knowledgable and presented the information in a humorous manner. I strongly recommend it to young and old.

When you visit island this museum is a must see! Great guides through the mine.

Great experience for people interested in Nfld history and looking for an authentic experience exploring a mine. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the tour was informative and told with typical Nfld humor. a Very enjoyable experience. The mine is quite cool so be sure to bring something warm to wear.

We had a wonderful time touring the mine. Our guide Bernie was very knowledgeable and attentive not to mention super sweet! The mine is a great piece of Canadian history and I am very glad to have visited. Must go and see for yourself if you are visiting the area.

(Translated) Excellent tour. (Original) Excellent tour.

Very interesting.

If you go to Bell island it's a must.

Excellent tour, excellent narration, of history

Informative, interesting, personal.

This is a must do when you visit Newfoundland. I found it very interesting and it gives you a good appreciation for how difficult times were for the families then.

A large group of us arrived late because of the ferry and they still gave us a shortened tour. Nicest folks ever.

Fascinating tour of the #2 mine

Loads of cool stuff of interest to Bell Islanders and visitors alike.

Great experience

Great tour in the ''cave'' it worth the ferry ride!

Visited inlaws in St. John's from Vancouver and had to visited Bell Island. What a rich history. People that lived there during the mining days sure know what hardship means.

Visited inlaws in St. John's from Vancouver and had to visited Bell Island. What a rich history. People that lived there during the mining days sure know what hardship means.

This was absolutely amazing. The tour guides are so knowledgable and fun. It was just an awesome day. ⛏

A great tour led by Brian. Lots of history and personal accounts of Brian’s grandfathers, both of whom worked in the mines under very difficult and dangerous conditions. WWII history was fascinating. Highly recommend this experience!

Beautiful spot and friendly staff, very knowledgeable in the history of the museum and mine.

We were really looking forward to this tour and were disappointed with our guide Sarah. Beside the childish vocabulary used in an all adult tour, she made allusion to WW3 and made a crack at the American president with Americans in the crowd . Some facts she presented were contradictory to the ones in the museum and finally she appeared to be making light of situation where workers lost their lives. Touring the mine is a great experience but please wait for a more sensible guide.

Great home style cooking made fresh daily with local grown products. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. If you needed directions or suggestions where to go or what do the local community people they have lots of time to share with you. A much slower pace of live here, this could be a good thing

Some interesting historical stories here!

I highly recommend the tour of the mines! Informative and our guide was very friendly and had a great sense of humour.

Very interesting

Great place to visit. Lots of artifacts in the museum to Learn about. We had a Great tour of the mine and bought some nice souvenirs from the gift shop. The tour guide Bonnie was amazing and very knowledgeable and gave us an amazing tour.

The mine tour is a must. Especially with the best of all the tour guides, Bryan's stories are thrilling❤️ it was one of the worth it things to do there!

The Island is a big 'little'place. The Museum was well played out and we were teased by such information as U .Boat attacks on ore carriers in harbour during ww11.The U boat commander's family donated medals and historical documents signed by Admiral Donitz and Hitler.Hitler had a disturbing nondescript signature. The tour itself was led by a knowledgeable tour guide named Bonny.Excellent well-structured tour.Go!Bring a warm jacket and wear sensible shoes!

Mine tour was very detailed and informative. Tour guide was enthusiastic and cheery. Would greatly recommend

This was an amazing tour can't wait to go again!

The tour was amazing. Bonnie, our guide was knowledgable and very generous with information and personal stories.

A good place to see

Tour guide was awesome. Very interesting and beautiful place to visit.

It was a great tour of the mine that takes you back in time!

Very well done. Try to get a more experienced guide, though. In the start of the summer they train new ones in, and there can be less consistency

Beautiful! Went to the mines Amazing iron ore rock formations and the guide was entertaining (ask for Ed) Unbelievable what the miners went through - very dangerous job. .

Love this place

Amazing

Very informative, different and was more interesting than I expected. It's an old mine, most of which is submerged under water, but you see quite a bit and learn the history and hard work that went into it. Staff and guide are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Small museum, gift shop and cafe. Gives you that little town or family run operation. It's not that expensive and the tour is about an hour in length. It's cool to chilly, so be prepared with some extra layers, also, is obviously dusty and dirty, so dress appropriately. It's something to experience at least once and you can fully appreciate the history of the place.

This was truly an authentic and great tour and museum.

Great.place to go see the mine. Was hard as dog work for the ppl who had to work there in past. You can bring a stroller for the kids but it's a bit hard in the mine walking around the loose gravel of its a big stroller. Some mud and water in a couple places, our little guy fell over and pants got very dirty.

Quaint hotel under renovation great food prepared by owner. Tour of #2 iron ore mine excellent !

Great tour with a few great laughs! Loaded up at the gift store and had tasty coffee and snacks at the cafe! Definitely worth checking it out!

It was great, and our tour guide was friendly and thorough.

Best spot for a tour of the mine guide was the best

Very Educational

Awesome tour of the mines. Lot of history in this place, well presented by tour guide. I would highly recommend this attraction to anybody.

We really enjoyed the tour! A definite must do on the island

Take the tour of the mine! The museum itself is kind of bla.

Fox the mine tour guide was great!

The tour of the mine was fascinating.

We took the tour of the first 650 feet underground of Mine #2 which goes over 2 miles under the ocean (Conception Bay). The mine, opened in the late 1890s, has been inactive and left in a native state since closed in the mid 20th century. Working conditions then would be illegal under today's standards and laws. Impressive...must visit on Bell Island.

Wonderful place a must place to go

Amazing; informative & enjoyable experience Bell Island Mine tour. Number 1 thing I recommend for anyone visiting Newfoundland. Our tour guide Brian brought to life what it was like back then - working 10 hours by candle light in very treacherous conditions. Stories he told - passed down from his Grandfather & Great Grandfather were entertaining and informative. The museum had many interesting artifacts - all with historical significance & accompanied with a story. The staff were very friendly; professional & there were many beautiful items available for purchase. Highly recommended the tour & follow up with a delicious feed of Fresh Cod & homemade fries dressing & gravy @ Dick's Fish and chips.

It was a wonderful experience very informative

Very informative without having to read a lot of panels to understand the history of Bell Island. Our guide Brian was great and was able to put a personal touch on the tour.

Cool!

Really dug this tour. Didn't mined listening to the guide at all. Shovels of fun!
