REVIEWS OF Oil Sands Discovery Centre IN Alberta

Brandon Parsons

Very informative.

Steve Lee

Excellent display of the technology, equipment, and science of the oil sands. It's a fitting homage to an era that the next generation will learn of what fossil fuels once were.

Geoffrey Bishop

An interactive attraction that gives insights into what really happens in the Tar Sands. Some of the facilities are a bit dated but it was fun for the kids to use their hands and feet to learn and have fun. The demonstrations were well done from the interpreters and it was a good way to spend a couple hours. The garden out back with all of the heavy duty equipment was intriguing.

Suhas Apte

Great intro for those wanting to learn more about the oilsands. Shows are outdated and too long and demos are not valuable however the remainder of the centre is great for kids and adults.

Craig Craig

You have to check it out. Worth the stop.

Roger Sylvain

Would be good to have more info about what life is like working in the oil sands so haters might learn that we set the standard by which all employers should strive to achieve. Safer workplaces that pay decent wages and help support a country with the least human rights violations of all oil producing nations. Oilsands are one of the few sources of oil that actually put money in the pockets of the poor and middle class.

I can’t believe it took me 5 years of living in McMurray before I visited this place. It’s a pretty good display with lots to see , do and read as you learn all about the regions industry. My son enjoyed his time too but got anxious as I tried to continue reading the displays. He loved climbing into the heavy hauler and seeing the machines in the back yard. I recommend bringing family to learn about the region especially if they are visiting from out east.

Luke Wu (Tuna)

Pam Dechief

Not knowing much about the process of oil sands, I found the Discovery Center to be very informative. The young lady who did the oil sand demonstration was top notch and taught me all about the process. Thank you. The displays were very well done and the movies were excellent. Definitely visit here to understand the oil sands.

Minesh Mehta

A very good presentation tried out in a small edition to explain entire process of oil sand formation to bitumen recovery to crude oil. Centre should plan field visits of actual plant site and to get better picture of process. In nutshell it has been intelligently planned and carved out great displays to explain entire process in layman's language. Outside displays of machinery is also good. A common man's learning: How Canada is being beaten up by US oil lobby, environmentalists and others who lick Canadian economy by not allowing building new refineries to process oil sand crude oil. Pray God/mother Nature to give intelligence to all concerned to help people of Canada and world at large.

What huge equipment, and you even het to crawl in the drivers seat of one of the huge haul trucks, now that is an experience you won't soon forget! ????
