We offer you all the reviews of people like you who are purchasing the services and products of Alberta Railway Museum (Museum) in Alberta (Canada).
At the moment this firm has a score of 4.6 stars out of 5 and that score was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an feddbacks average is almost the highest, and it is based on a very large number of opinions, so we can be pretty sure that the valuation is very accurate. If people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put opinions when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Museum is included in the category of Rail museum.
A good place to know how the older railways worked. You get to ride on older cabs pulled by steam engine. The volunteer was very keen to answer questions on it. Good place to take your kids out of the city. 4 Star? : Could add more things to the museum to hold the visitor for the whole day.
I recommend you visit Alberta Railway Museum fabulous, time well spent with the family , all Stars. Edmonton , Alberta - Canada
Trains and history on the Northern Alberta Railway, a few minutes from Fort Saskatchewan.
If you love trains, this is the place. Expect to spend over two hours at this place. If you read everything you will be there longer.
Amazing place to learn about trains new and old! Was a great afternoon of fun with the boys
Very lovely and enjoyable.
It was well done, a nice step back into history of trains. A great place to visit.
Was there last summer and had a blast. An awesome place to spend a day, especially if you're into the history of railroadding all across Canada and Alberta. The train ride is a little boring as it only goes back and forth a few times on a small stretch of track, but that is my one and only complaint.
Great place for 1-2 hours. Train ride is short (15mins) but gives the idea. All staff and volunteers are very friendly. Please watch your kids for trips and falls, this is an old industrial facility.
We had lots of fun with our 2 1/2 year old daughter. The best part was when we got off the train ride she was given a bag of goodies, including crayons, a colouring book and a train whistle. ???? Will definitely be back‼️????
Love it! ????
Lots of history to see here. Displays throughout the historic cars. For those with mobility issues it may be a challenge as there is stairs up into many of the exhibits. There is lots to view from ground level however.
A great way to spend some time. Really cool piece of history
My kids loved it. We will be going back for sure.
Their is an amazing amount of social and technological history here that can reignite your imagination. The attractions are well described but take the time to learn additional insights from the knowledgeable and very friendly staff. I was shocked by how fast time slipped by
Great experience for the family.
We try and go out here at least once a year on a long weekend (that's when they run the train) it's a good time for a very reasonable price.
We stopped in with the kids for a quick visit and walk around the yard. So much to do/see here - close to the city, and a story every resident of western canada should know about how our province was settled.
Hidden gem north of Edmonton. The staff is super friendly and there are metric tons of trains to explore.
Vacation .... Love trains. Amazing to see ..... And walk thru the trains and read the history.
Great!!!
Very affordable, fun for kids of all ages, friendly volunteers.
Great value and so family friendly. It's very hands on and there's lots of exploring and climbing. Great way to spend an afternoon
The kids will enjoy the place but the facilities and exhibits could use some major restoration and repair. A renovation would not hurt.
One of the best experiences and just minutes away from the city.
Great. Museum!!!
Great old trains to walk thru.
This place is a hidden treasure of amazing local history!
The museum 8s amazing. Staff is great. The train.. omg. A trip in time. We had such a great time walking around. Extremely cheap and worth it
Brought my nephew here, big lover of trains. He had a blast. Loved the essence. Though, my only complaint, is the train shouldn't go back and forth, maybe a circuit of track?
Amazing place to spend the day with your family, lot of things to see
Interesting Museum showing the development of railroad travel on the prairies. Volunteers doing an excellent job of restoring railroad cars and carriages. More still to come ...
My son loved it! I was here something like 6 years ago, and there has been so many changes. A lot more items on display in the trains, and a lot more info in there as well. I'll definitely be returning.. But much sooner than last time.
so much fun for the train lovers all around
Great place to take the kids and adults, alike. So many cool rail cars to go through and all kinds of history to learn.
Really great place. Goes in depth into the history of the Alberta railway.

Great experience, lots to see with passionate and knowledgeable staff to help you have a great time. There are loads of train cars to explore.on the site. The long weekend had the steam engine running and the little train ride back and forth on the main tracks was fun. Check it out if you have even a small amount of interest in trains there will be something to keep you interested and exploring.
Great visit if you like trains and history. Expect to spend about 2-3 hours here, especially if you decide to take the train ride.
People are knowledgeable about the history and trains
Bring the little ones and go on a stream train.
Took my summer camp here for a field trip. It was raining for most of the time but not a single kid complained. The staff was phenomenal! All of them seemed to love what they do and did a great job keeping the groups engaged. I myself had never been to this railway museum before and I had a great time. Some of the highlights the kids mentioned when we did of field trip recap back at our center were - Having lunch inside of a train car - taking a ride on a rail cart up and down their track - learning morse code and how to use a typewriter - getting gift bags and retro model train magazines - touring all the different train cars, which many included some sort of interactive component. Not many things were actually blocked off. If I could I would give this place a 6/5, I definitely suggest visiting here at least once. I myself will be returning in the future and our kids voted 100% Yes, that they would want to do this field again next summer. (The first time we have had a full 100% Yes on our "Yes, No, Maybe So" voting system) Thank you to the staff at the Alberta Railway Museum for taking a day with miserable weather and turning it into our top ranked field trip of the summer so far.
This museum has an excellent set of railway artifacts, a number of which have been beautifully restored, and others of which one hopes will be selected for future restauration. There are items here which you would find hard to see anywhere else. And the staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. I really enjoyed my visit.
If you want to learn about trains and step into the past, this is the place! Kid friendly and steam engine rides on long weekends throughout the summer. Worth the visit and just minutes outside of Edmonton.
Admission is dirt cheap and they maintain the place with care. Everyone on who works on the steam train is a volunteer and are 100% passionate about what they do
Such a neat experience! A great way to explore a little bit of history!
Was a great experience and the kids loved riding the steam train and going through all the train cars!
A wonderful place to visit the past. The volunteers do a great job of restoring and maintaining the railway history of Alberta.
My son loves trains, and boy did he (and the rest of the family) enjoy this treasure.
This museum was pretty great. Lots of rolling stock to explore. Restored steam engine and working diesel pulling a coach. Worth the trip out to see. Very enjoyable.
:-)
Great museum for the railroad enthusiast.
Highly recommend checking this place out if you are a fan of trains! Lots of old train cars to explore. Very interactive and lots of history to absorb. We took our toddlers who had an absolute blast. Very inexpensive little outing.
Its educational and interesting .
Pretty awesome family outing and the steam train ride very reasonably priced at $5 a person. Kiddies went away with a grab bag of goodies.
I would love to visit but unfortunately it’s only open on weekends They should open it at least one weekday.
Nice to visit for people that like trains.. specially the kids where they can go on a ride and check out different train carts.
Nice train museum. I was able to immerse myself in the roll of being a train operator, route planner, and accountant with all the nostalgic tools they used to use. It was fun!
Fantastic visit for the whole family
Restoration personal exception and well informed.
Museums are not usually my favourite places to visit so when I go it is probably to take my family. This museum is different. To start with they don't put you in a building to look at "things" under glass. Rather, they let you to follow a suggested path through rail cars of various types and ages. This makes the experience more personal and real. You can climb up to the caboose, sit in the various types of passenger trains, and even enter the locomotive while trying to imagine how the men could have worked in such a hot place next to the boiler. I believe that most of the staff are volunteers but that means that they want to be there and it shows. This museum is located just north of Edmonton so it is an easy drive to visit. Rides in the actual train are short and only offered on long weekends but I'm sure that younger children will still find the short ride exciting. This was my second visit to the museum and I would recommend it to anybody for a fun and educational experience. On this visit I went mainly to take photographs as the museum offers endless possibilities for creative images. They have something for everyone including a snack bar and gift shop.
Took two three year old boys, they were so excited each time the steam train came by blowing it's whistle, whilst they climbed up into the train cars. Good value.
Very expensive, very little to keep the kids entertained unless they wanna repeatedly rude the same train 40 ft back and forth. They have only one bathroom, and a gift shop for snack foods that’s over priced. Good for a one time trip, but if you have more than one kid, it’ll break your bank.
Great place for kids! My kids loved walking through the different train cars. Their favourite part was the steam train ride.
Super place for the whole family.
Kids had a great time, and there is plenty for adults to engage in as well. The place is well laid out and the staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable.
A great place to visit in Edmonton if you like leisure surf. It is just a time tunnel to bring u back to old old time. : )
Lots of fun! My toddler loved it.
So much to see!
Lots to see! Train ride was great; back and forth but multiple times - anyone want to volunteer to lay track? Multiple cars available to walk through with lots of detail and artifacts. Volunteers/staff very friendly and helpful. Will need to come back next year!
The museum is located in a hinterlands. Even though they mark the directions, it is easy to miss the place. Museum is kind of Okay, it is not up to the mark as expected. It could have been made better. Anyway, it is still a place to visit once if you are around Edmonton area.
Really cool to walk in the old train cars that are styled in the eras they are from. Beautiful grounds, but some of the displays need improvement. I think this is fair, given that they are largely volunteer run. Worth checking out, if you're interested in trains.
Aside from all the screaming kids it was fantastic!
Great for photographers
Fantastic experience with our Daughter. Run by passionate and knowledgable volunteers. I’d say it was fairly priced and the train ride is great for children of all ages. They also put puzzle pieces around the museum for the kids to exchange for a prize at the gift shop. The gift shop also has a number of interesting items for sale and I’d say they are fairly priced.
Went there a few weeks ago, had a fantastic time. So much history in everything it's amazing to see. Defiently a must see!
Amazing history, and so much work and love has clearly gone in to preserving this for everyone to enjoy! It's fun to visit on a dry day.
A real gem for all ages! Had a wonderful time.
Place is good for children.
Best place to take your train obsessed kids.
It's a wonderful place for railroad enthusiasts, but also for families. Staff is very friendly and do their best to make your visit better.
Nice outdoor and indoor museum. Works on weekends only. Mostly is run by volunteers. You can go through many train cars and sit in some locomotives.
Wow what a great time we had. The knowledge and Information this place holds is unreal. The staff go above and beyond in helping you. This place is VERY clean. We had a Blast!!!
I was able to learn some of the history of the Northern Alberta Railway, and see the beautiful old CN locomotives was worth the drive. Willi was the operator of the speeder today, and was very informative about CN, and the old NAR Loco they had on sight.
We never heard Alberta railway museum before. I saw it on groupon. It was fun. The kids loves it. It would be awesome though if the train goes a little further. The place was run by volunteers so i understand its limited service's. It would be nice if they could get more funding and extend the tracks cuz its really cool place.
It was a decently cheap afternoon for the kids. A lot of the newer trains you aren't allowed in which was disappointing but there are lots of other cars you can explore
Great place to experience railroad history. Restoration of cars continues..gift..souvenir shop with some snacks...a bit pricey. Bring family and friends. You will enjoy. Weekly hours for visiting would be appreciated...not just weekends
Amazing
I have a 3 year old who loves trains. Nuff said...lol
Excellent collection of old locomotive
If they had an actual train to ride, that would've been better. But the staff were awesome and super helpful.
It was well set up to walk around and climb in the different trains to see different history in each one. Wonderful presentations and great displays
Excellent exhibit of historic and modernish trains. People of all ages will enjoy and the walking tour was well mapped out. They have a running locomotive. It is very unfortunate that the City of Edmonton has funded projects that the public do not even go to and this historic true history facility depends on volunteers and fund raising which is so little.... Encourage all to see.
This is one of the best rail museums I've been to. Most rail museums seem to have an attitude that being open to the public is a necessary inconvenience. Not this one: we arrived 45 minutes before closing time and they stayed open to let us get through the exhibits. The museum offers a unique hands-on view of what railroads were (and are) like. The extensive walk-through "yes you can touch almost everything" tour makes it a real experience. The cost of admission is well below average ($5 per adult), but they could sure do with more money -- a lot of stock is in a state of preservation rather than restoration. The entire operation runs on admission charges, donations, and volunteers, without government assistance. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed the visit, a hidden gem close to Edmonton
Good for kids and adults as well.
Aleays love this place great for the kids and entertaining for aldults to!
A full-fun day for kids to enjoy.
This was a pretty cool spot. Only 3 stars tho because it lacks structure and only a few employees at any given time. We noticed lots of server safety concerns for our 3 year old in the trains so watch them carefully if you have kids. The ground is very swampy so bring some boots as well. My poor wife wore sandles and got all muddy. Cool spot though, pleasant staff and lots of cool history.
Laid out nicely
Great place to spend half a day. Great staff and lots of history to take in.
Took my wife and son to see the trains had a great time. My son was all over the place in and out of the trains exploring and touching everything. I would recommend going on the long weekends if you are interested in riding the steam locomotive my boy was all smiles.
A piece of history rediscover
Needs funding to be what it needs to be
Excellent museum. Lots of restored and original Cars. Loved the working stream train.
Nice place, good for kids and adults visiting, there are many trains, they represent the attitude and life of railwayman at that time. Also, we took the train, it was fun.
A historical gem, well worth a visit.
This is truly a hidden gem! Totally run by volunteers, this railway museum is a must see. You are given a short ride on one of the ORIGINALS! Short trip from the city, a great way to spend afternoon with family. And on some the long weekends, The Food Truck is there for food!
I stumbled across this place through a friend, who is a volunteer. He mentioned it in passing, so I thought I would check it out. Thought I would only be there for a copy of hours, but, after nearly 5 hours, found I had to leave. There are many interesting pieces to view and interact with. I left with many questions, that will undoubtedly cause me to return, in pursuit of their answers.
A hidden gem! Lots of old engines that you can climb into. Old passenger cars to browse. They also offer train rides. Reasonably priced.
A great family outing and a piece of history
Took family here for Father's Day. Was very cool. Thought train ride would be better, but still good.
Went there on August long weekend Monday. They were giving train rides. Great museum if you are into trains.
Amazing very very very cool
Had train ride by a steam locomotive. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Looked at various types of rail cars from cargo to executive cars in the early to mid 1900s. Museum was also unique with in the day comunication systems and personal uniforms. And other things to see. In short, had fun.
Worth a visit, very reasonably priced. Took 4 grandchildren ranging in ages 2 to 5, all the kids loved it.
So much fun :)
Is nice if you like trains
An excellent trip back in time to the heyday of rail travel. I highly recommend you visit and support this museum. The staff were very friendly and informative. Make sure you take the train ride. The conductor gives a great talk on the history of the railways of Alberta.
A neat find in North edmonton Lots of old train cars and engines
Great place to visit this year in celebration of their hundredth birthday. On the long weekends you can ride a locomotive otherwise the speeder was a lot of fun. At 1 they have walking tours as well as cake.
Wonderful place. Whole family spent an unforgettable Sunday afternoon there. From little kids to our adults, all had so much fun.
Great place to visit when the weather is nice. My children love it. Its fun to learn a piece of Edmonton history and you get to go inside the engine and cars.
Great place to take young and old train enthusiasts I would like to see more working items.
Great little place to spend an few hours, especially if you have any large or small Thomas the train fans in your life. Lots of interesting trains to Lok at and explore, a few small exhibits and a little souvenir shop. You can even ride a real train! They even gave a small giftbag to the little kids after the train ride.
Great place to visit. Just one suggestion for improvement: they used to sell these really nice whisky glasses with the railway company logo on it. I wanted to get some for my dad but these are no longer available unfortunately. I hope they bring them back one day.
Great place for train obsessed toddlers like mine! We had a blast on the train ride, it was also reasonably priced. Only downside was it was very swampy land and not very stroller accessible. Would have been much easier if the stairs had a wheelchair ramp, I honestly haven’t been to an attraction that didn’t have a wheelchair ramp by the stairs but this place didn’t. Otherwise a great day at the Alberta railway museum!
Fun
Hidden gem!
(Translated) Very good place to visit only open a few days a week (Original) Muy buen lugar para visitar solo que abren pocos días a la semana
Great place to stop in for a visit. There's quite a few different train cars to walk through from different time periods. Some of the stairs leading up can be a bit tricky but we were able to navigate fine with our 2 and 3 year olds. They had fun and we actually found it quite interesting. Would recommend for something different to do on a weekend.
Good history.
A great place to visit, the kids loved exploring the trains, and really liked the train ride.We will come again. The staff are very knowledgeable, welcoming and so nice.
Very good place for family time. My son was very happy when we were there;)
Simple train museum. You'll go through a series of rail cars and inside are some really old stuff from the past. You are also able to ride a diesel train for 15 mins but it will just go back and forth but still fun for kids. This museum needs a little bit more funding as some of the stairs to access the rail cars are a bit wobbly. I think all staff here are volunteers too. So appreciate their time while you visit the museum. Wear comfortable shoes when visiting. Bring ear muffs for sound sensitive youngsters. Labor day was last day for the season.
Very interesting place! You can have a ride there. You can enter many different trains and wagons to see how people travelled and / or worked many years ago. Very very interesting and informative! Many thanks to the museum employees and donors who put a lot of efforts to made such a cool museum! We had a great time there!
Visited for the first time as part of CN's 100th anniversary celebration. It holds a great piece of Alberta/Canada's history. The selection of railway equipment from mainly CN and the NAR (Northern Alberta Railway). Wondered around for almost 2 hours. It was interesting to see equipment that I had some experience with.
Had my son's 4th birthday there and the place is amazing. The staff were excellent. Thank you for make his birthday so much fun!
It's kind of interesting, but not spectacular! Staff were helpful and knowledgeable.
Nice little place with friendly people that can tell you a lot of stories.
Great mix of rail history
Nice place to visit if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with train fever. Honestly speaking though it made me feel like a kid again and for that it gets five stars
What a hidden gem, a great outing for the family. Pack a lunch or buy one at the onsite food truck. The train ride was cool as well. The museum is only opened on weekends, but it is not long drive from Edmonton.
Great place to go and walk thru. So many cool trains to explore. Have been here numerous times and still refreshing every visit. If your in the neighborhood, check this place out. Highly recommended.
Great place a family visit
