As you know, we don't usually bother to put reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Moving Company is classified in the category of Moving company.
Very good service! We've hired them for two moves, and both times they were prompt, friendly, communicative, and helpful. We had a challenging unloading situation this past move, and the two movers handled it super well and with smiles. Definitely highly recommend this company.
I recently had a wonderful moving experience with Hired Hands Moving Company. I hired them to move the contents of my three bedroom house for a local move to my new home. The movers took very good care of my belongings, were extremely hard working, and were very well mannered, They worked as a team to complete my move quickly and efficiently. I would not hesitate to hire them again!
This was the third or fourth time we used Hired Hands for our move. The workers clearly know what they're doing; they're prompt and professional. The estimate was fair and competitive. We would use them again without hesitation.
Prompt, professional and polite! H.H. were wonderful! I would use them again in a heartbeat! Zero complaints, 100% great experience! Thank you again!
I used Hired Hands for a move from Ithaca to Massachusetts. I'm not entirely thrilled with how things went, but nothing was broken. The guys who loaded the truck were in a hurry to get to their dates, so my things weren't handled with care, which made me nervous. Most everything was loaded in two hours (although I paid for three), but there was still a LOT of stuff left. We had to end up renting an SUV to take the remaining things. We were also asked "are you wanting to keep that?" for several items... yes, we want to keep everything we own! When everything arrived, it was covered in black dirt, and some white pieces of furniture still haven't come clean a week later. Almost every piece of wooden furniture I own is chipped and/or scratched. They said they had blankets to help protect things, but the bros trying to get to their dates must not have used them. That being said, the guys who drove the truck and unloaded it were fantastic and were able to unload in less than 2 hours (again, although I paid for 3 hours).
Our movers were extremely considerate, diligent, and efficient. They made our moving day stress-free! I would highly recommend this company!!
Thanks, Hired Hands, for doing a great job helping us move furniture for our office at Cornell. Pricey but worth it, and very reliable. Just as an FYI, they do have a 2 hour minimum! :)
I had a great experience with Hired Hands. They were able to schedule me on short notice even though it is a very busy time of month for movers. The movers arrived on time, were professional, and courteous. They immediately got to work and worked fast! They were careful with my belongings, and thoughtful on how they loaded the truck to maximize space and keep my things safe. I have some pretty heavy furniture, and they didn't bat an eye. Though I think moving my sleeper sofa and giant dressers almost killed them, they never complained or threaten to quit (which probably would have been my reaction in their position). I had a great experience and highly recommend this company!
I highly recommend this organization for help with moving or loading a moving truck. They made everything so easy and effortlessly. Mark and Louis were incredibly professional, respectful and packed the truck perfectly. The team showed up on time and went right to work. They wrapped my furniture to protect it—they really were careful with all my items. I honestly was very impressed!!! Thank you so much Hired Hands Moving Company!!
They are great! I’ve been moving with them for 3 times. Everytime they do it really well and effectively. The people are super nice and efficient. They also reply to emails/text/calls really fast.
Recently moved from NYC to Ithaca -- I was in touch with Zac multiple times before deciding to move fwd with Hired Hands -- he was courteous, answered all my questions promptly & worked with me to find an agreement I was comfortable with. The move went smoothly -- Jake, Ian, & Oni were quick & efficient -- they showed up on time & the the job was done sooner then expected. Due the unexpected circumstances I had to move again shortly after arriving in Ithaca. Although it was last minute & they were fully booked, Zac & Buzz managed to work with my timeframe & squeeze me in. Hired Hands made a difficult move easier/more pleasant then I imagined it could be! I highly recommend them & wouldn't hesitate to work with them again!
Highly recommend! The movers were friendly, respectful and very knowledgeable about the moving process. They had several heavy pieces of large furniture to move and did it without any issues. I wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again if needed.
Very fast, careful, and professional! I have used them twice now for unloading my moving truck and I highly recommend them!
Hired Hands made my moving process an absolute pleasure! I have actually used them 3 times now. Each time, the two movers were professionals in every sense of the word. They showed up 10 minutes early, and got the job done promptly and efficiently. My first move, I had more stuff than I had told the managers about over the phone, but the movers were able to pack the truck as efficiently as possible. The managers were also extremely helpful and transparent right from the start, and their quote was extremely reasonable, and ended up being perfectly accurate on all occasions. I will definitely be using Hired Hands again, and I would recommend that you use them as well if you want a quality and trustworthy moving experience!
We used Hired Hands to move our office last week. They did a great job (and loaded up the truck like pros!) and were very flexible when our move had to be delayed a few different times. Highly recommend!
Hired Hands was able to move me across Ithaca in under two hours. Not only that, but they were careful, courteous, and cost-efficient. Definitely recommend and would use again!
Thank you very much for your services. I just wanted to say how very pleased my husband and I were with the two workers you sent us. They were very professional, attentive and most of all diligent. The only feedback I would like to provide is the time that was estimated was very off. I think it would have been much better if you sent at least one other person to help with the move. I believe if we had an apartment the job would have suffice with two workers but being an entire house those boys most definitely needed an extra set of hands! Thanks again for everything we will definitely recommend your moving company to colleagues and friends of ours!
I called Hired Hands LLC and the owner actually answered my call. He was the most accommodating person I have dealt with in a long time. He immediately said "yes" to my request for a pick up of a chaise lounge from a location in Ithaca and delivering it to my home. No hesitation. His pricing was more than fair, and he and a colleague picked up and delivered this item in an extremely timely fashion. I would not use anyone else for future moves. Hired Hands, well, the buck stops there. Thank you Nate!
Note: The following is a personal opinion and does not represent an official viewpoint of Cornell University. Our Cornell University department has used Hired Hands Moving Company almost a dozen times over the past 5 years. There's no way to describe the combined nature and locations of the items being moved during a few of these moves other than to say that they were "brutal" by any measure. I was stressed before each move given the details requiring coordination, the inevitable surprises sure to take place, the guaranteed physical exhaustion by the end of the day, and the continual risks to property and possessions throughout the move. As a matter of principle I almost never give a rating using all available stars. However, if I could give more than 5 stars in this case, I would. Hired Hands Moving Company exceeded my expectations virtually every time we contracted for their help. It has been an outstanding group of young adults for each move. Highly respectful to everyone in our department, highly respectful of the items being moved and the surroundings, and highly respectful of one another. (I've heard praise for the movers from our staff members on multiple occasions.) They aren't snarky, snide or sarcastic. Rather, they've been thoughtful, ask questions when necessary, get right to it when there are no questions and work hard through to the end. I honestly can't say enough in their favor. Will we use them again? . . . hopefully there won't be a call for their services anytime soon here, but should there be, we'll hire them again without hesitation. Would I recommend them to a friend? . . . 100% wholeheartedly. And they had the BEST PRICE in our area. Keep up the good work, Hired Hands, and all best wishes in your future non-moving-company endeavors. You've all got bright futures ahead of you. Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated!
Moved end of April. They showed up exactly on time, masked. Were easy to work with, careful and quick. I was very pleased with their personnel and service.
Hard workers and good communicators. Thanks!
I used Hired Hands to move out of my college dorm and into my summer housing. The workers were very nice and helped me with everything that I needed. I will not hesitate to use them again
This company packed up all my stuff from my apartment near Cornell, packed it nicely and brought it to my door in Michigan. Nothing was damaged, everything I wanted packed was brought safely. The movers were very professional. They really helped me with a bad situation, I was here in MI taking care of a family member and not able to travel myself to get my things due to COVID-19 concerns. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs to get their stuff packed and moved out of Ithaca.
Showed up on time. Didn’t damage anything. Movers where friendly and finished sooner than expected. Will use again when I move.
First time using a moving company for a long distance trip. The guys were professional, punctual, and friendly. All of our items were loaded carefully and efficiently. They were in communication with us during their traveling time so we knew when to expect them. I would suggest that using furniture straps or bungee cords would help prevent items from sliding when there is additional room left in the truck. Very pleased overall and would use again!
Needed to have an old refrigerator moved from upstairs down a narrow staircase with a turn at the end and have a new one brought up. Too tricky for me but Hired Hands Moving Company sent over three strong guys who got the job done in a snap and not a ding on the walls. Would recommend them for this kind of work for sure.
These guys are the best for a move around Ithaca - I have used them twice in the recent past, and both times they were great! Timely, very careful in boxing my things, very careful in moving my things and not bumping things in the house, and then getting everything in exactly the right place at the destination. They are much more careful in moving than your typically professional movers. And the price is right! I cannot say enough good things about Hired Hands!
The long and short of my review is that I do NOT recommend “Hired Hands Moving Company”… at all. I spoke to one of the General Managers Jack D’Agostino, initially, to see what services they were able to provide. After stating I would be moving from a 2BR apartment in NY to VA and sending him the pictures of the large items that would need to be moved, he gave me a quote. The week of the move, he called me and quoted me another (much higher) price. For the inconvenience of this, he didn’t charge me for the supplies needed to pack up my place… which means that typically he would be charging me an additional cost to pack up and move my possessions, which is why I was hiring them in the first place. For those who have moved before, your expectation is that movers disassemble items requiring disassembly to get the items out of the home and into the next. This company does NOT have a tool box. You must provide these items yourself. If an item is disassembled prior to them arriving, they won’t reassemble it, but if there is damage to an item that wasn’t disassembled, they aren’t responsible for it. Think about that. Movers are supposed to be trouble shooters and problem solvers in moving items. Because they were unable to get a loveseat couch out (with the peg legs still on), they were going to leave it… and they didn’t care. Not only were they going to leave my furniture, they had no regard for my framed pictures. The photos are heirlooms from the early 1900s and they stuffed multiple pictures in a box and half-heartedly put bubble wrap on some of the corners. They were NOT individually wrapped. Needless to say, some of my frames were damaged and glass was broken. Two movers came. There were supposed to be 3, but the third had an emergency. The movers were nice, but didn’t know how to pack items and were moving at the slowest of paces. I was paying them by the hour and was given an estimate of 4 hours for moving. That would be in experienced hands, but these were students who were asking me what I wanted taken down first. My mother and I were the 3rd and 4th movers, because otherwise it would have taken 24 hours for my items to be put in the truck…. it ended up taking EIGHT hours. Again, I had already packed everything other than the kitchen dishes, framed pictures, beds, dresser, etc. Then, the rental truck they were using had a dead battery, because they left the lights on. It was going to take the rental company 1-2 hours to send someone to jump the truck. I wasn’t leaving this truck with all my possessions with people who didn’t value my items… so we stayed and found a neighbor with a big enough truck to jump the truck. I still had a 4 hour drive to make after this fiasco. The general managers were hard to get a hold of throughout this process. The movers could contact them, but not the customer. I could go into more detail, but you should get the picture that this is not the company to use. I suggested that they should clarify the actual services they provide because their services are much less than standard moving companies. They should have been paying me and my mom for how much work we put in. This is a student-run company and though the idea is great, the maturity to deal with moving issues and customer complaints was lacking simply due to lack of life experience.
First time to use their moving service. The whole process was smooth and they are very professional and friendly. Definitely reccommend!
Hired Hands was wonderful! The movers were very polite and efficient. I highly recommend Hired Hands!
Excellent team, working together! Very polite and productive and worked hard to move all of our belongings carefully. Thank you for a great move and making the process less stressful and enjoyable! We look forward to working again with you soon!
Quick response and very efficient in accomplishing our move!
UPDATE: We had to vacate our apartment after 2 months due to structural issues, and our landlord opted to use Hired Hands to move us (they were paying, so their choice). The move itself went well, no real damage past minor scuffs on walls (that you'd expect with any movers). The students are VERY polite and work hard; had I been rating this one move I'd have given 4 or 5 stars, but am leaving it at 3 due to no resolution on the handling of the damage from our first move (see initial post) - that's on management... There are pluses and minuses. The owner and workers were incredibly polite and hardworking, they were on time and started to work immediately on loading from our third floor walkup, and worked consistently and efficiently. However, they came unprepared and did not handle our things carefully. I was told they would wrap our mattress and bed springs, as well as our tv, but they came without anything to wrap them. Our mattress and tv were ruined. Lots of furniture was scratched, lampshades were dirty, part of our bed frame got lost, they scratched walls and the ceiling while unloading in to our new apartment. We were offered 380 compensation to cover professional mattress cleaning (that wasn't successful in getting out the ground in mud and certainly wasn't successful in fixing the holes, rips, and tears) and television replacement. They did more financial damage than the entirety of what we paid them. And frustratingly said they were going "above and beyond" with compensation. I understand that things happen while moving, and I would expect things like dirty lampshades and minor furniture scratches, but not accepting responsibility for the things that were ruined DUE TO their not being prepared and not doing what they'd agreed to do is infuriating. I can't recommend them but the owner said they'd be doing some retraining, so I guess our loss your gain.
I am so glad that we decided to let Hiring Hands help us with our move. It was the best money I have ever spent. Even though it was 100 degrees outside, these boys got us all moved in less than two hours. Price was also very reasonable. If you are getting ready to move and you want to have an easy time of it - I totally recommend Hiring Hands.
I was so impressed with this company. Great correspondence leading up to the move, and the employees were very accommodating and professional. The management was very responsive and helped me find the best deal for a huge move! Thanks guys!!
I am very impressed with these guys. I am from South Carolina and in June 2017 my son declared his intention to move to Ithaca. We loaded a rental truck and made the 800+ mile trip. Imagine my horror when on the morning of our arrival the “outfit” that I had contacted to unload the truck was nowhere to be found. Luckily, my wife did a quick google search and found Hired Hands. Within an hour they had 2 young men at my door. One hour later the truck was empty. Wow! Now it is 2019. My son has found a fiancé and a lot more stuff. It was time for a better apartment across town. I immediately thought of Hired Hands. This time they did the whole move. They brought the truck, unloaded the old place and loaded it into the new place. The whole thing took about 4 hours and we couldn’t be happier. The price was great. The guys were polite and did not shy away from any challenge. They even dropped some furniture we did not want at the Ithaca re-use center. If all goes as planned we will be loading another truck in the summer of 2021. I already have the website bookmarked and the phone number saved. I don’t see how anyone could go wrong using these guys.
Awesome move from Lansing NY to Longview. Fast, damage-free and courteous. Picked up in AM. Dropped of in the afternoon. Thanks for the short notice service.
