Bottom Line Up Front:
Initial estimate for 1 Cube was emailed to me at $2994. One Cube wasn't enough so I ordered 2, with the 2nd one offered at $200 off. Expecting to pay~$4800, the final bill was closer to $7600. Canadian Pups admitted there was an error with the estimate they sent me, but offered no discount or compensation for the misrepresentation that cost me about $1700 more than expected.
Details:
I would not recommend this company to anyone due to a terrible customer service experience. In short, Canadian Pups, Cubeit, or Storage Vault Canada (all trade names they use) did the following: 1) Told me that one container would be sufficient for all my items, after I explained to them what all I own. Note, they emphasize that they are not a moving company, but rather, a storage company. They don't send estimators to your home to estimate your requirements. When the container showed up, it was not big enough and I was stuck having to order a second container and the logistics of getting back to my origin to load it.
2) The initial quote they sent me, that I used to determine whether to use their services for not only the 1st container, but the 2nd one as well had a total on the bottom for $2994. As this number was on the bottom line of the quote, I assumed it to be the total cost to ship one container (most invoices.estimates are written this way). It was later brought to my attention that the quote was missing a line called "Combined Total". The difference between this missing total and the bottom line of the quote was some $850, so that when all the dust settled, I ended up having to pay some $1700 more for these 2 containers than I thought. Though their management team admitted that there must have been some IT issue with the quote I received (I sent them a copy), they did nothing at all to smooth over a $1700 increase in what I was expecting to pay. Though I had asked them to split the difference, thinking that being the most fair thing to do, they didn't budge one bit. In fact, they said they thought the quote I sent them was doctored and even went so far as to say it was simple math that I should have used to total the individual lines in the quote to get the proper, actual total for their services.
