Called for an estimate to move a 3 bedroom house. We are only going 2km, nothing too involved. Firstly, the estimator that came by the house commented that “You’ve got a lot of stuff”. Well, it is a house! Second, WE had to contact THEM to find out what the cost was going to be. After a few seconds, all we got was “25!”. Oh, ok, thank-you. Not going with these guys. First impressions last, and judging by the way they answered the phone, then DIDN’T provide the estimate, we don’t feel they’ll provide adequate service.

I've had a “Murphy’s Law” kind of move…”whatever can go wrong, will go wrong”. There was one exception…the absolutely delightful experience we had with Swain Moving & Storage Ltd. The four fellows from Swain were extremely efficient, knowledgeable and professional, and without exception were a joy to work with. They went above and beyond expectations and were truly the shining light in an otherwise stressful move. I highly recommend this company. They are definitely the best of the best. Called this morning for a quote. Firstly they answered their "business" phone unprofessionally. When I asked to whom I was speaking the irritated "Steve" sounded impatient and talked over me. As I was attempting to give the reason for my call, "Steve" interrupted me, talked over me and would not take my request for a simple quote without a move date. As I started to respond, he interrupted me yet again. I was extremely surprised at both his tone and his unprofessional manner. I told him I had called several other places and not only were they all polite, helpful and provided their quote, but not one asked for a specific move date to simply get a quote. Wow! He abruptly ended the call. Swain evidently has a decent reputation, but my albeit brief encounter on the phone does not abide with what they profess on their website.

I took time off work specifically to meet with Swain's for a moving and storage quote (based on Swain's availability). The guy called an hour after we had agreed to meet and said "it has been a long day" and wanted to reschedule. I said I couldn't take more time off work so he told me to get a quote from someone else. So rude and unprofessional.

I called Steve in Victoria to get a quote, he didnt call me back for 6 days. He left me a rude message when I told me I had hired someone else. As being in customer service myself for 20 years, his behaviour was very unprofessional and not the way you treat someone if you want business. Victoria is very small.

We hired Swain to move our parents from a house in N. Saanich to a condo in Sidney. I wasn't there for the move but my sister's said the guys did a very good job. Later that day we realized they had left a bed support on their truck which we needed to get back. In addition I also wanted to hire them to remove a very large load of junk stacked in the carport of the old house. It has been 2 weeks since the move between my sister, myself and my wife we have left 4 voice mails and 2 emails trying to get a call back but to no avail. Hugely annoying so I would definitely never recommend a company this unreliable.
