This will be the second time that we have used that guy Van Lines. Firstly the guys who loaded our truck in Oliver and the fellows who offloaded the truck here and Victoria were nothing but gentlemen very careful with our furniture very professional in every way. Of course, the price was better than anywhere around and that helps us make our decisions. The ladies on the phone were always so very helpful and even though we called many times it never seemed to be too much to get the right answer for us.

I would like to say that the service I received from every staff person at this moving company was excellent. Everyone was incredibly helpful and professional. The guys were so friendly and as the truck travelled from Vancouver to Edmonton I was kept informed every day with a text and phone call giving me an update on the timing of their arrival. The price I was given was extremely reasonable too. I didn't even research using another company cause I was given the best service I could have asked for. These guys and gals have 5 stars from me. I'm so grateful for all of their help while making such a big move. Well done!!!

DO NOT PAY THESE GUYS FOR MOVER'S INSURANCE! It is a scam - they damage your stuff and when you make a claim, they just jerk you along. We were moved last June and incurred multiple damages to the tune of about $1400.... they tried offering us $250 as a payout 6 months after the claim was made! They refuse to deal with you directly - only by email for claims, so you are left twisting in the wind. I know I am going to have to take them to court just to show them they cannot get away with this kind of business practice... Personally, I doubt they even have an insurance company they are working through. With the way these guys operate, it is just another way to pump up the price after they hook you with a decent rate quote!

That Guy Van Lines started off really good, the were very communicative and we were impressed with their communication. They picked up on approx time they said, but did not get the 30 minute call prior as were told prior to pick up. So because our pickup was early in day we were trying to get extra sleep expecting the pre 30 min call. The call only came once they were already in lobby and had to race out of bed. So this is where the review goes down hill, we had pick up on Saturday, and was told delivery would be on Tuesday as we were moving province. So we took our time doing the beautiful drive to BC, and were to get to our destination on Monday,knowing our furniture was coming Tuesday, but it didn’t, nor did it come Wednesday, it seemed the communication went downhill and we had to keep calling to ask when we were getting our furniture, we were told different times that never happened and finally we received it Thursday morning. It really sucked having no kitchen or supplies to use for a couple days, resorting to ordering food and using styrofoam bowls we luckily had to cook in. I am disappointed that they didn’t offer a bit off the amount as obviously we put extra money out due to their promise of being their Tuesday and putting out extra money we didn’t need too, normally I would have said something, but just didn’t feel like the hassle and just wanted our stuff, A few items were damaged and tubs squashed but nothing ever goes 100% perfect so the few things we could deal with, nothing major, but 2 nice big scratches in coffee table sucked..lol Price was right so I can’t knock that. I would love to give this company a better rating then 3, but from pickup to delivery should be great service, not just half. The guys delivering though did a good decent job unloading in timely fashion and friendly. Not every companies perfect and there will be always hiccups, but when you inconvience your customers by not 1 but 2 days of waiting with barely nothing , because it’s on your trucks, you should offer something off etc for your customers as it’s the right thing to do when your at fault of making promises you could not meet. That’s just good business and customer service that goes a long way when recommending a company to others. I doubt we would use them again. But we coulda just had a bad moment of possibly many good moments this company might be like regularly. Also when they say no hidden fees, I find it offensive that a company charges 4% because your using a credit card. In order for a business to succeed a company usually offers different forms of payments because it makes for good business to its customers, but to charge the customer 4% using a credit card for business we are giving you is just absurd when I see companies do this. Beyond ridiculous, that’s the price of doing business and getting customers, is you absorb or hide extra little prices. No one wants to know your charging them 4% because a credit card company charges you a percent, so you throw a payment option back onto the customer, that leaves a bad taste in people’s mouth. Either hide it in price or absorb it.

I have a fantastic experience with That Guy Van Lines. I moved from Calgary, had my items stored in Kelowna for 2 months, then reloaded and brought to my new home. There was a little glitch in the beginning but it was immediately resolved. The movers in both provinces were respectful of my home and my belongings. The movers in BC were especially helpful describing local places to eat, where to go for various needs and general area tips. I would use them again, without hesitation.

Looking to hire a moving company online can be - intimidating. But I did my research, found great reviews on That Guy Van Lines and they really were wonderful! They charge on space and what you are moving vs. weight so the quotes *do not change. They also offer discounted rates if your flexible on your moving date. We were so it was half the price. Once our deposit was paid, the dates were confirmed and everything was super smooth. It was a pleasure hiring them and I would recommend them highly!

I had a service provided from Van Lines almost two months ago. The movers damaged our new floors. I have e-mailed and called several times to find out when I will be reinbursed. I would not recommend using That Guy Van Lines due to the lack of communication for my refund. I understand things may get damaged during a move but if you had communicated better or at all I probably would not be as upset as I would know you were working on my claim. Not Happy!

Possibly one of the WORST companies I have ever dealt with. Their ONLY truck broke down and they didn't even call me! After 30 mins past pick up time I call to check in on the incredibly late moving crew only to find out that their only truck is down and all I received was a half hearted apology and a referral to another cheap moving company. So now I am left in the lurch with my cargo....an hour after it was supposed to be gone. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST!!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!!! I AM LIVID AND NOW AM LEFT TO FIGURE THIS ALL OUT AGAIN FROM THE GROUND UP..... Words cannot describe how badly I would love to see this company go belly up from a lack of business. I have moved around the British Columbia Province over 30 times. This is single-handedly the worst company I have ever worked with. First they lost our stuff to another Province and when it was returned, they didn't want to deliver it because it was too late in the evening, 6 p.m., I didn't have a team. I instructed them that I had my own team and would unload the truck and that I needed a bed to sleep on as I've been sleeping on the ground for a week. Additional to that big cost over $600 in Damages to my belongings and although I only asked for $80 for repair cost. They denied my claim. Very unprofessional company to work with I had to email them every other week just to get an update because they were not forthcoming with any information. Would not recommend them to anybody. I was warned not to use them as they broke. My mother-in-law's TV, but I chose price over quality. And that's what you get when you do that.

I was very impressed with this moving company. Their rates were a lot less than others, so I was a bit apprehensive, because you often get what you pay for. I needn’t have worried because both teams of guys at the Banff end and the Kelowna end were very professional and courteous. The team who picked up in Banff were exceptional and took great care to wrap everything, however I was disappointed to see the Kelowna team unwrap on the truck before bringing my furniture in, which caused a few scratches - the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I would definitely recommend this company.

Not worth the risk. We can see the reviews here are mixed - some had great experiences, others, like me, did not. It must come down to the roll of the dice and the specific movers you get. For our 2 movers, only 1 of them was physically able to move items of significant weight. As a result, the move took hours and hours longer than it should have, and the 1 mover had to do almost everything himself, and in doing so, caused a lot of damage by having to leverage everything into place, especially as the day dragged on and on and time grew short. He worked like a horse, but once we unpacked, we saw that the furniture paid the price. They hand you a waiver to sign just before they leave once everything is packed in their vehicle... and who wouldn't sign it? If you don't sign it, they don't move your stuff, and the entire day is now wasted. So you do, they get on the road, and upon arrival your items are damaged. You try to contact them for reimbursement, and after months of no action, they finally offer you a lowball sum that wouldn't even replace 1 nice piece of furniture. Yes, they are low cost, and in retrospect, we should have known it would turn out badly. Be smart - pay the extra money for a reputable company like Allied or others who are professional, show up in uniforms and nice trucks, and can do the job. Accidents happen, sure. But this company has insurance, and should own up to their mistakes. Instead, you first are ignored, then bullied. In retrospect, we should've paid the premium price for a known company and had peace of mind. Be smarter than we were.

That Guy may come in a bit cheaper than their competitors, but beware. Even though we were very specific about the amount of stuff we were moving, they underestimated the space and had to make two trips from Canmore to Penticton. We had to take two days off work instead of one to allow them to make the pickups. Even though they will quote you a rate for a full van-load, you don't actually get the whole van. They already had someone else's things on board, so we got what space was left. On top of that, they lost a number of items, including a 24 ft extension ladder. How do you "lose" something so large? If you wish to make a claim, you have to pre-pay a $150 deductible before they will review your claim. They do not make a roster of items, so you really have no idea if all of your boxes make it until you unpack everything and realize stuff is missing. They are also quite disorganized and you have to keep calling them to find out basic things like when your load will be delivered. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is that the guys actually doing the loading and unloading were very pleasant and hard-working. However, I won't be hiring this company again.

We hired them for their moving services as we’re relocating next week. Yesterday they said they were coming to pick up our stuff from 4pm-8pm and we planned our whole day around their service. My fiancé called their office at 7:30pm and found out they weren’t coming. They told us they were coming today instead from 3pm-7pm. It’s 5:30 and they’re still not here. There hasn’t been any phone calls to reassure us that they are in fact coming, but as their office closes early on Sunday, we can’t even inquire at this point. We’re not upset that they couldn’t pick our stuff up yesterday -we’re just angry they didn’t tell us sooner. We planned our whole day around this and they couldn’t even call us to cancel! This is by far the worst service ever. They already processed the payment on our credit card without completing the service so we can’t even cancel without waiting 2 weeks for our $800 back! I would never recommend such an irresponsible service especially when you’re counting on them to relocate! I feel like we were scammed!

Extremely disappointed with this company. Right from the get go they were difficult to coordinate timing with. The ended up coming the night before to load half my stuff and the other half the day of the move, thankfully I wasn't fined for using the elevator outside my booked off time (only because I'm friends with my building manager). I was also completely taken back at one of the movers they had on the other end. He wreaked and had no idea what he was doing. All boxes were labeled yet all put in my living room. He also invited whoever drove home to his job into my home as inwas completelt surprised to run into a complete stranger walking out of my bathroom (the washroom was so disgusting after I couldn't go inside without gaging). I also purchases insurance with them, who knows why. Now I question if they even have any since my claim hasn't had any updates since April. THEY PUT A HOLE THROUGH AN ORIGINAL PIECE OF ART! I even asked them if I should take it with me in my vehicle. They assured me that it would be fine and explained how they would pack and store it. They also broke a large mirror and damaged 2 other pieces of furniture. AFTER 6 MONTHS NO ONE WILL GET BACK TO ME OR ANSWER MY PHONE CALLS OR E-MAILS COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION QUESTIONABLE STAFF Can someone PLEASE GET BACK ME TO ME!

I used this company in 2013 for my move from Port Coquitlam to Didsbury Alberta. My move was in March and winter weather was disgusting in AB. I had 2 guys scheduled for PoCo and only 1 showed up. He was an absolute stellar worker. Ultimate professional. I had full details and timelines with the move. Office staff was always fabulous. On arrival in Alberta the weather was ferocious and the 2 movers were amazing. All my stuff arrived in tact and the guys even set up my bed. ZERO COMPLAINTS! This past May I hired the company again based on past experience. Again office staff were great. On arrival the 2 guys were polite and at tentative. As the move progressed the 1 guy (Arnold) got more and more ignorant. They did not even complete the load in one day. The next day both guys were less than polite and still had more work to do. As the guys got closer to completion of loading we were told by the driver he had no hours to deliver our belongings for 2 days. We were promised the complete move in 3 days, not 5. There is NO EXCUSE for this type of miscommunication. That small detail cost us 3 days in hotels, with 2 dogs and 2 cats as well as a sick elderly parent. SO NOT IMPRESSED. Upon arrival 3 days later we were greeted with lukewarm driver and a great swamper. 3 pieces of destroyed furniture, which was promptly blamed on us, and a couple of other issues....RANT OVER!!! THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU BOOK THESE GUYS!

My experience was less then positive after using companies like AMJ Campbell. The movers were unprofessional in their tactics and communication, they did not take inventory of my items at all. The customer service was below standard as well starting with interactions with head office all the way to the mute employees who refused to even acknowledge me when I spoke to them. The worst part was they badly damaged my coffee table in the move and were then shifty about the whole thing even going so far as to implying maybe it was damaged before the move. My perfectly good table now looks like it belongs in a student house. They are sloppy and unprofessional and priced the same as better movers. Not only would I not recommend them, I would advise never using them. I'm still hoping they will do the right thing and take accountability for my table being almost destroyed as I will need to replace it. Incidentally I was sent the claim form on day 4 and in their small print they say it has to be submitted by day 5 max. Slimey. Update NEVER heard from these tools. I have found damage to other items since I wrote this. They need a ZERO option on here.

I should have checked the Better Business Bureau rating before I booked this moving service. I always do a check and completely regret not seeing the FAIL rating from BBB. I entrusted my three bedroom home to be moved with these people. I also should have paid attention to the red flags with the poor communication from their office when I asked questions. There were scant guidelines for how to prepare and even though they were told that 90% of my belongings were going into storage, they missed that info. Probably worst of all was when I opened the storage doors to retrieve some items that I required a few days after they were "placed" my mattress and box spring came falling down on me. The absolute disaster in the storage locker made me very angry. When I reported this to That Guy manager, all I got was an argument. No apology, it was essentially all my fault. If I wanted my storage locker mess corrected I would have to pay their workers by the hour. There was zero customer service with this manager and company. I have recently learned that this company moves stolen goods and should not be recommended to anyone. Please do NOT use this company. The guys that helped me moved my stuff from Victoria to Edmonton was one of the greatest moving experience I had ever had. They are not just friendly, and helpful, and will do everything they can to leave no trace during the whole moving process. They arrived before the scheduled time because I was in urgent of getting out of my place in Victoria, and arrive in time in Edmonton. Because my door in Edmonton is is small for my furniture to move in, they unscrew the door and screw it back after the install, but the work is outstanding, nothing at all was damaged.

The worst moving company ever. Started out with a driver threatening to leave my couch at the pick up because he could not figure out how to get it into elevator. At the delivery, the mirror was broken and delivery crew broke off the dresser legs and teared a piece of couch. Beware of this dishonest company. Things MAY go fine, but you're playing with fire depending on which movers you get. If you're considering a move, do you REALLY want to take this chance? The movers who packed my items in Calgary were phenomenal, but the ones who unpacked in BC were careless, unprofessional, and damaged my furniture. The very first thing they did on arrival was collect my payment. After that, one of the movers said "oh, by the way, the dining table was damaged." Indeed, one wooden leg was snapped in half and now it's a piece of junk. It seems like they wanted to hide the fact that they damaged my furniture until I paid them. Even the manager on the phone said "yea, that's too bad, there's nothing we can do about it." I think it is reasonable to expect the movers to exercise a basic level of care when moving my items. I did not buy extra insurance, but it doesn't give you the permission to treat my items like trash. I'm looking for another mover now and I would never reconsider this company again.

I was very happy with the move. The two fellows who arrived were professional and pleasant. And, they were very helpful with some last minute decisions I had to make. I wasn't able to be at my new place when the items were delivered but I made arrangements for someone to let the movers in. And, when I arrived, everything was there and some of the furniture which belonged in specific rooms (i.e. dresser in bedroom) were in the applicable room. On top of all that, the pricing is very reasonable compared to the competition. This was also long distant move and That Guy Van Lines gave me the shortest delivery window of any of the competitors. Because it was winter and we were in a cold snap I didn't really want my stuff left too long in a cold truck. As it turned out, they delivered all my stuff the next day, hence, why I wasn't able to be there because I was driving up the day after. I highly recommend these folks. And, I would definitely use them again.

Original pick up date was the 27th to drop from kelowna to edmonton for the 28th, they came a day early to ensure that our stuff would be in edmonton on time..... That Guy Van Lines moved our two bedroom plus basement townhouse (a fair amount of stuff, including some fragile items). All of our stuff arrived perfectly. I haven't used professional movers before and was nervous to do so given some of the horror stories out there, but these guys were amazing. We had a great experience moving from Edmonton to Chilliwack with That Guy Van Lines in September/October 2016 (with storage required inbetween)! Every time I called them, I got a very friendly receptionist, and they always answered my questions promptly and efficiently. The movers we had at both ends were very nice and did a great job! They thoroughly wrapped our furniture and carefully moved it. When they were unloading, they made sure to ask where to place it and that we were satisfied with exactly where they put the furniture. Rob with his helper were very knowledgable and filled the 5 ton truck with no problem. It took them 7 hours to load in Coquitlam and a little more than 2 hours to unload in Peachland. We recommend this company anytime and will use them again for moving. Thanks to Marlene we did not need any extra insurance, our home insurance covered the move.

I had that guy vanlines move my belongings to a storage place in the lower mainland, and besides blaming for the time it took to unload the truck, they also did a poor job of packing everything into the 10x20x14 storage unit, causing me to have to rent another storage unit. When I went to check on the unit after they moved my belongings in, I just about got barred when I opened the door. When I called to explain and sent pictures to show how poorly the packed my furniture, all I received was attitude and a lack of care about my stuff. I continued to call and send emails but never got looked after at all. I never asked or got a discount in moving my stuff, payed there quote, so i expected some better customer service. when I finally move my belongings into my own home furniture was damaged, gave up trying to deal with the unprofessionalism of the manager and staff. So in closing i would not recom this company at all if this is how customers get treated.

VERRY VERRY... crooked, two of the workers left my furniture outside side my house, they wanted more money to move my BBQ in the back of the house, I called the police and the police said we don’t get involved, the movers said that there lives are in danger, I am a woman holding a 14 month old child, they took the full amount of money and left with the furniture outside, thank goodness the others two movers at least moved the furniture in the garage, there supervisor told them to live everything outside and go.

We moved from Calgary to Vancouver last week with That Guy Van Lines and were so happy with the amazing service they provided us. Both the pick-up and drop-off crew were very professional, courteous and helpful. We had lots of art work and a piano, they treated every single piece with so much respect and care. This company keeps their prices down by load sharing city to city. The truck showed up very late because of weather and too much load sharing for one day but when they did arrive, the crew worked very hard to get it done. They wrapped up everything fragile and packed up our whole house into a perfectly estimated truck size. The loading and unloading was handled with 3 extra helpers plus driver on both ends. There was some minor damage to a few pieces but nothing major. Hard workers and job well done. I would recommend this company.

They were friendly and courteous, and tried their best to load all things. They placed priority on some cheaper items and loaded them1st, but then attempted loading for example our heavy elliptical trainer and high end bbq at the very end and could not fit them easily. It was difficult to watch 2 men struggle with our items precariously pivoting off the back of the truck. They failed to load my extensive CD collection, so I had to get a saw and cut the legs off my CD rack (I know, antiquated) to fit into our SUV to move ourselves after. A leg on my wife's family china cabinet got shattered during transit and will need to be fixed before we can use again. They were on time, and stuck to the quote. Unloading was by different guys and was uneventful, but they too commented on the "odd" pack job. We also had a "Sea can" that we rented and loaded ourselves, no issues (including a hot tub), So...will likely do that solely IF we ever move again.

Not Impressed... I had hired them in Dec to move my 2 bedroom plus den from Vernon to Coldstream. They carried on box at at time and took 7.5 hours for the move. They left all boxes and bins in the garage at which I had to carry in. I helped them bring boxes to the truck when loading. Then they bring my couch and the leather ripped. I put a claim in to find out yesterday it was declined BC i did not purchase cargo insurance. Which i was never offered and if I was offered you normally sign for insurance. They charged me $760 I talked to the manager about how long they took and she did nothing. I have moved many times a full 4 bedroom home that has not taken 7.5hrs. Then i go back to the house i moved from to find stuff still left there. OMG very unhappy again manager did nothing

Great experience with That Guy Van Lines. They treated us very well and I have to say our move went as smooth as possible. The pricing was significantly less than we originally anticipated and everything went off without any issues. One thing to be aware of is that they do not call to let you know pickup dropoff times until what feels like the last minute. I felt very uptight waiting for that phone to ring but I 100% understand this. The company doesn't want to give false promises and they run off a very live schedule, meaning they call when they are leaving their last job, hours away of course. I can say you can certainly trust them with your belongings for all intents and purposes. They are an amazing moving company to deal with.

I was especially impressed with my personal move from Surrey BC to Edmonton Alberta. They showed up on time, took great care of my belongings and delivered on time with no damages. I recommended them to friends that did the same move from Surrey to Edmonton, and their experience was just as good. They worked especially hard just recently moving all of our equipment and supplies from one work site to another even though we miscalculated both the amount of product and time it would take, they worked hard to get it all done, and were pleasant the whole time. Booked my flight to be in Calgary for Saturday and then they tell me they had issues with the van and that they would not be able to deliver until Wed/Thurs. The customer service was all good to begin with and we were told that we could schedule the move 2 days before the truck leaves. So called 2 days before, they said it wont happen now until 4 days later. So we didnt say much, was ok. They took all the stuff, and committed to reach with 2 days to Vancouver. That never happened, they said the roads were bad. Understood. But then we were at the apartment waiting for 4 days and took time off work but they could never make it. They wanted to make it on their time which was odd hours and we explained many times that the elevator will not be available. They still could never make it. Husband took time off work, stayed at the apartment, got an email saying truck has mechanical troubles, cannot make it again. 4 days later, somehow husband took a couple more hours off in the morning, said time was short so they just put all stuff and left in a hurry. Overall, even though the full amount was paid, the experience was extremely stressful ! And on telling them that, they said they cannot do anything about it. The ladies on the phone are not aware of half of the stuff happening, there is a huge disconnect we feel. Will not recommend them.

First off, the actual moving was great. The movers were courteous, professional and moved in a timely manner. My complaint is with the office/management. They were about 3 hours late and refused any meaningful compensation for my wasted time sitting in a camping chair at an empty house when I called and complained. The office claimed that they were having trouble loading our moving container, but when the movers arrived, they said they had already done a job that morning. The obvious conclusion is that the movers didn't have any people available and flatly lied about it. The movers (who didn't know anything about the situation) tried to give me a cheaper rate at the end of the move based on the time it took, but the office refused. I wouldn't use them again or recommend them to anyone.

Do not risk going with these guys for your moving needs. While the actual mover who helped with my move last year from Vancouver to Vernon was a nice friendly guy (he was alone by the way...they sent one man to do all the work!!!), the lady on the phone was rude and inconsiderate and even hung up the phone on my mom when she was asking her questions about the time they would make it to Vernon. They also over-charge the crap out of you. Go with a local one like Hugo's (those guys are good and on time and customer-oriented). Don't trust the good reviews here as they are probably begged or paid by the company to put a bogus good review here. I should have posted about my experience way sooner. My trouble with these guys was in December 2015.

This was a mistake to use them. In short, I would never recommend them for any services they claim to do!! Here is the long version, if you want to take the time to read. When I called, they were polite to tell me that they were bonded insured and are extra careful, quick to resolve any issues or mishaps. They said they did not need to come to offer a quote, using covid for the reason. We agreed to their terms hiring them to move the furniture and boxes, from one home to another July 23rd. this included taking the furniture apart, packing it into the truck and unpacking with setting the furniture back up. They worked hard, maybe too fast and broke a dresser mirror and damaged several other pieces of furniture. When I called they explained that the mirror would not be covered because we didn't wrap it. Well... they took it apart and packed it, so they should have wrapped it?? We never received a policy book or any explanation saying we were responsible to pack things that they were hired to do?? After arguing the logistics, they sent me a form to fill out. (3 weeks later) I filled the form and sent it back with no response.. called them the following week and was told I had to send pictures so I did. Then they said it would take another 2 months to process, if they allow it?? This was August 4th 2020. I have tried to follow up via email with no responses what's so ever. I would never recommend this company to anyone, they are reckless with zero conviction to what they promise. No after service, reckless movers and false promises.

The two guys that showed up in Vancouver were amazing.... they had to walk a bit farther as condo moves in Vancouver but they were so professional and made me feel at ease. I tried to make it as easy as I could for them with frog boxes. Just true professionals. Everything came to Calgary perfectly including my road bike I was worried about ....they took care of it and made sure it was packed well. Decent movers, but don't pay for their "insurance". Their crew was fine but broke a few of our things - they literally shattered our coffee table before loading it onto the truck. "Thankfully" the guy running the crew convinced me to pay the extra for the insurance beforehand, but here we are, 10 months later, and we have seen no compensation and next to no communication from it. They also must have hired a couple guys to do a cash job to unload at our new home, as when they finished unloading he asked my father-in-law and I to pay him personally... that was awkward to say the least.

Can't say enough good things about Mike, who managed our load and unload. Very professional and personable . . . excellent work!!! Even though our move was delayed by a day due to problems with the move before (apparently our truck got stuck on Vancouver Island by Ferry problems), it turned out for the best. We avoided having to load in a storm! Load was quick with every piece carefully wrapped. Unload was a little slower with careful unwrapping and positioning of all our pieces as we asked. Where to start....they were late showing up, only 1 guy came. I had to load EVERYTHING myself, thankfully my neighbour came to help. Then upon drop off the gave me a 2 day window, they came a day late anyways. After I asked for some money back after I had to spend extra nights in hotel and take off extra days from work and load the entire truck myself they told me they would give me $100 off....this was after the quote of $2500-$2800 was of course revealed to be $2800. They told me that was because they were unable to put more people on the truck, this was after the movers that came to pick up the stuff told me not to worry about loading as they were not picking anyone else up. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS....They are absolutely TERRIBLE. The actual movers were nice guys and hard working, it was the office and timing that were ridiculous. Take your money elsewhere

Don't use this moving company. I paid a fortune for a tiny easy move should have done it myself one of the worst decisions. Huge disconnect between receiving a quote and the final price. The driver walked in and was in shock at how little there was to move yet the manager insisted that I am at the top end of my quote. I feel ripped off and don't want anyone else to feel this way if you can move without these guys do it rent a Uhaul or get a trailer but avoid booking with this moving company at all costs. They should have reduced my cost based on the space I used versus what the manager assumes is the amount of space required. No customer service or care. No integrity and no guarantee when they will arrive or when they will depart just all in all a horrible experience and honestly would never hire movers again that's how bad it was.

After they put a gouge in our two day old floors, the movers took pictures and assured us that the company had insurance for these instances. We took pictures of our own and went through with the claim process. After chasing them for two months of frustration, the manager finally returned our calls. He informed us that flooring damage (admittedly 100% their fault), would not be covered. We expected integrity from this company and instead they fed us this bs. ⚠️ WARNING!! Do NOT BOOK!! They quoted us $1650 and charged us $2500! We had a 2 bedroom apartment. They showed up on moving day at 7pm, after saying it was going by 9am to noon!! We had numerous friends and family helping as well since we had lived on a large acreage and home for many years and had accumulated lots of “stuff”. Chris, Gordon and Rob from TGVL showed up at 10:00 am, had a quick meeting with us and went right to work. They were in charge of moving the household furniture and accessories. They did a great job, working well with everyone, including the carpet cleaner! It was obvious from the beginning they were experienced and worked well together as a team. At the new house they were very patient as we decided where everything had to go and stayed until the job was done. We couldn’t have managed such a large move in one day without them! I contacted That Guy Van Lines for a local move as I had previously used them to move from Alberta to BC. The provincial move was seamless, took 2 guys maximum 3 hours to load all my stuff and nothing was damaged. The cost for the provincial move was $2600 For the local move (I was moving aprox 5 minutes from the origin), they quoted between $120 to $140/hr. Two guys showed up an hour late with a small truck even though when quoted I advised there were a lot of items to move. .Although the guys were very careful and pleasant, it was apparent that they did not have a lot of experience moving. It took them 2 loads to move everything and a total of 8 1/2 hours (even with us doing 6 of our own pick up truck loads ourselves and us helping unload the moving truck at the destination) .....at $140 an hour. I was charged for the time the truck broke down first time where we had to call to get it boosted and a second time in the driveway when the steering failed and they had to call a tow truck to remove it. When I mentioned the hours, travel, and break down times, the guys asked if I wanted to talk to the manager as she was there because the truck was getting towed. They went to get her. she walked towards me and said "what's your problem?" and I explained. She attempted to argue with me and said that it wouldn't take more time to do 2 loads as it would to do one... she took off 1/2 hour cost for travel and said that she would take a look at the provincial move time and would get back to me to resolve the lengthy time this move took. I had left messages for her a couple of times and she did not respond so I emailed to advise that i would send reviews on social media and she responded right away saying that she thought the issue was resolved as she discounted 1/2 hour on the price. They have charged the credit card full price and apparently do not care once payment has been processed. Bottom line, they overcharged for inexperienced movers and added time on for the break down of their own vehicles. I would not recommend this company for any local moves.

The movers were friendly and courteous as was office staff. However, after asking if all of our belongings will fit in the 30 foot van several times and them saying absolutely and of course. I will dinged an extra 900.00 to use 5 feet of another van. This was very frustrating as i had confirmed the price many times and reserved the entire 5 ton truck for ourselves. This is not the first time this has happened and may be an industry wide practice to get more money out of the mover. I would gladly use them again if they refunded the extra amount. But nobody came by 11a. So i called the office. They now say they will pick up my stuff between 4p and 8p. What the... At least they should have let me know BEFORE I call them. Its past 8p. But still no one came. Their office was closed at 8p. The last time I called the office, they said they are closing soon for the day. Its been a while since we moved ( Oct 5) but had to write a review....although the arrival to load up in Tsawwassen was late, the move was flawless. Kevin and his helper had a whole 2bd house with 2 garages loaded up and rolling in 3 hours. Not one thing broken, or lost and Kevin was here in Osoyoos with the load at 9 a.m. the following day. This was the worst experience with movers I’ve ever had. The guys actually doing the work were fine but the office staff were incredibly difficult and totally inflexible. They could use some serious customer service training. The movers showed up 4 hours late. We’re missing half of our 1k vacuum and many pieces of furniture are broken (not IKEA). Oh yeah, and forget to mention, they picked up a random guy off the street to unload the van to our storage locker (they told my friend who was there to meet them) so hows that for security? Do not use this company!! if I could choose 0 stars I would. booked a month in advance for a move. The appointment was for 8:30am. at 9:30 when they still had not arrived, I called them to see where they were, and was told that they were 15 minutes away as the roads were bad, ok no problem. At 10:15 when I called, I was told that some of the workers didn't show up, and they didn't know if they were going to make it. They offered to reschedule for the next day, which was an inconvenience, as I had to reschedule getting a clean done and carpet cleaned, but I agreed. I was then called at 4:40pm that day (Saturday), and told that they could not come the next morning. Not only that, I was told other than rescheduling for the following week (which was too late as new people were moving in) they would do nothing to help. I suggested for them to rent a U-Haul or another truck and they refused. I asked to speak with the GM and it turns out I already was. they refused to compensate anything for my cancellation for cleaning because I had to reschedule that last minute. When I asked for a solution, their reply was simply "call someone else". Please forward this story if you know anyone who is thinking of using this company to move. They have left me stuck on New Years eve with no movers, at 5:00pm needing to be moved out tomorrow.

Absolutely horrible ! Never again would I use them or recommend the Kelowna office of That Guy Van Lines! When my one bedroom and den condo was moved from Vancouver to Kelowna... I was horrified to say the least. My glass framed mirror was broken, my glass mirrored dresser drawer was smashed, my glass office table Metal leg was snapped from the glass top, my white leather sofa and loveseat had gashes on them and my white leather dining room chair was ripped with black marks all over it! I had missing boxes etc. All they had to do was pick up a move and deliver the next day. They delivered two days later which held me up in a hotel for two nights waiting for them. One of the deliver guys said he saw my furniture outside of the truck on the ground he went to do the delivery! I was furious... I made numerous phone calls asking how they were going to help me and all they kept asking was .. “did i have insurance” . I explained was never offered insurance and how do they get away with not offering me insurance on their delivery men. That Guy Van Lines should have some culpability when it comes to who they hire! Overall today, it has cost me over a 1,000. To replace some, and not all of the damages! I did not receive and considerations when speaking with the office .. I would NEVER recommend using them ... EVER If they offered a zero rating ... I would have started a -10 !!!

I used this so called Company a couple weeks ago. What a waste of money!! Moving companies are suppose to load and unload your belongings...thats why you hire them. Well not this company. I spent good coin on them to do this but..yes theres a but. My son and I ended up unloading 1/2 the stuff ourselves.. Im NOT exaggerating either. If my son wasnt there to lift the heavier stuff who knows what would of happened. 2 guys showed up to unload...one was soooo tiny and thin he couldnt lift anything heavy. Thank gawd my adult son was there to help move the dressers...couch..shelves. The other guy was grunting and groining trying to lift and was stopping every second step cause he couldnt carry it. They arrived late as well. I moved just as many boxes as this little guy...what a joke!! I should be compensated cause they didnt do the service they were hired for. Do not use this moving company!! 3 grand i paid them for my son and I to unload my stuff!!? They said I...yes I should of called them that night ..8:30 so they could of called someone in. Lol. Me?! Uhmm no one of the movers should of...not me. Besides it was after hours and the company is 8 hours away . Anyhooo do not use this company that hires wimpy people or you will be doing the unloading yourself and paying them for ..??... Nothing.

That Guy Can lines was a truly amazing experience. I have never used them before but they took my stuff from Victoria to Calgary. They gave me a quote and that is what I paid. The office staff communicated the times as the day move in Victoria unfolded and were mindful of my timelines but were frank about the road conditions and mindful of their drivers hours. Moving time the movers arrived on time. They were courteous, professional, organised, businesslike and very careful of my stuff. I cannot say enough good things about them. Then different movers drove to Calgary for an unpack. I never thought I would get the same high standard movers who were so organised and businesslike, efficient and polite. There was a delay on the TransCanada which created a bit of a delay but the office staff and driver were frank about that too. The office staff went way past the standard of a reasonably diligent person and from taking the order to organising the truck and trying to listen to my own personal deadlines. They were so courteous and professional. All in all I would put this moving company at the top of anyone's list. My move cost what was quoted. I am not affiliated with this company and this was an unsolicited comment that I gave to them.

Disorganized and expensive for quality of service. When we called to book we explained what we had to move including beds and large furniture that needed to be taken apart. They showed up with no tools, no runners for the floors. They came into our house with there outside shoes and started walking all over the hardwood floors and carpet. I asked them to please take off there shoes and put down runners. They looked at me like I was crazy and told me they don’t have any runners in there truck because we didn’t request them. We did not know we had to request them, we just assumed it would be part of standard service. Our table also ended up being damaged. Overall not careful , disorganized, and expensive!

Movers themselves were amazing, loading side of the team was very careful and thorough. Bill and his team on unload side were wonderful. Engaging, empathetic and did a great job helping to get us all settled in our new home. Even made helpful suggestions for furniture and put all of beds together! So grateful for them. However, the lady that answers the phone(refused to give me her name) was rude, disrespectful, unwilling to help and not accommodating or considerate of the situation in the slightest.I have never been spoken to as a customer or a person like that in my life. It is because of this woman I would NEVER recommend anyone to use this moving service! We were told our move would happen in one day and therefore planned accordingly. Never received any written or verbal communication otherwise and we were told the truck would arrive first thing in the morning. Then the day before the move after I emailed to confirm pick up time in the morning, was told they would be there between 12-4 a 4-Hour window! Then once I emailed back and said we needed to confirm morning pick up in order to deliver at the house was told over email they would arrive between 10 and 12 still no communication about them not completing the move in the day. Movers arrived at 11:45 and left at 4:45 p.m. at which time this lady called me and said they would not be delivering today as they were over there time limit. I explained to her we have no beds no place to sleep none of our things and did not have anything organized. Her exact response to me was quote "that's not my problem"I then asked about what compensation would be given being that we now either needed to find a hotel that would allow to dogs or purchase necessary sleeping amenities. I was told I was being ridiculous and that there was nothing she could do and nothing that she would do in regards to compensation or service recovery. This is unacceptable service and my only hope is that this feedback reaches someone who can actually do something about it or at the very least prevent someone else from having to go through that.

Can't recommend these guys enough! The cheapest we found to help us move from Burnaby BC to Edmonton AB. (Cheaper than renting a uhaul and doing it ourself as well!) We set it all up via email. (Take lots of photos and make a detailed list of all of your belongings to make it easy) That guy van lines was the least stressful thing about our move. They showed up a little late for pickup because of another client, but arrived early for drop off so it all balanced out. All our belongings were in perfect shape when they arrived. Scammers. Quoted a price range from $3200 - $4200 for a 4 bedroom home. But when I sent pics they said I had more than a 4 bedroom home worth...which is lies. My home is 1100 sgf and a single garage. There are obviously way bigger 4 bedroom homes than mine! They then wanted to charge me $6500 to move. I then cancelled and they charged me $328. Stay away from these guys unless you like being scammed!!!

Do NOT use this company! Our experience with That Guy Van Lines started off great, but then everything quickly became a headache. We hired That Guy Van Lines to move our belongings from Alberta to British Columbia in which we had a 3 bedroom 2400 sq. ft. home to be moved and we also needed storage accommodations. NOTE - the movers during this process were FANTASTIC! I couldn't say better things about the care and efficiency that they took to make this move happen, my issue is ONLY with the office staff. Issues with storage: We were not informed there would be an additional $25 charge per month per locker (we had 2 lockers) to keep the moving blankets on our stuff. I expressed that for a company who boasts their marketing on no hidden fees, this doesn't really line up. In a return call she advised she confirmed with her manager as they failed to send me the storage email including this information they would compromise and only charge me $25 for one locker per month. Issues with re-delivery: I received a panicked phone call from the office staff 2 days prior to our re-delivery date asking if they could deliver our items tomorrow as they were having truck issues. As we were only moving into a temporary rental unit which would not fit all of our stuff we had previously arranged for a local moving truck and storage unit to be ready for the re-delivery date. We now had to re-arrange all these bookings which was a little annoying. She also gave us a window of 10am - 2pm for re-delivery, in which the movers showed up at 5:30pm. The movers also informed us as this was a different truck not all of our items fit this trip so there was still some stuff left in storage. Issues with 2nd re-delivery: When the office staff called to confirm the re-delivery date of our items left behind, it was a different date than we originally confirmed with the movers. Options provided: leave all of our times outside, we can come get our items ourselves at a later date (and continue to pay for storage and drive 3 hours to get there) or we can pay their in-town moving fees for these items to be delivered another date as they are doing us a favor and not charging us an additional $200 for re-delivery. I said she wasn't giving me much choice so leaving our items outside is what it will have to be. Additional storage fees: I asked what was happening for the additional storage cost of our items being left behind due to the company not having the proper truck to fit everything - if I was still having to pay for their error? She advised she would get back to me about this. As of March 4, 2020 I am still waiting for a reply about this issue. Charged twice: We noticed that they charged both my husband and I the $200 re-delivery fee and when I called to inquire about it, she assured me that my charge was voided the previous week and that we weren't charged twice. 1 day later my bank advised me of the refund. Lost lock: The movers did not leave our lock which we were using for the storage container. When I called she said she would look into it and get back to me. 1 week later I had to call again for which they advised they were still looking. 2 weeks later (today March 4, 2020) I had to call again for which they advised they can't find it. I asked if they are sending me a replacement then? She replied no as that would cost them too much in postage to send, so I can claim it as a lost item and they will deal with it that way. I asked for the forms to be sent to me then and she sounded extremely annoyed I was following through with this - and at this point I hung up as this was my last straw of time wasted fighting for proper customer service with this company. I feel the office staff does whatever they can to be right and shift blame to the customer and they could all use some additional training in true customer service. My advise, skip the headache and go with a different company for your move.

Move date March 5,2019 Rob and Gordon were very professional and personable. Sara was great to deal with on the phone and was able to answer all our questions and let us know what we needed. They arrived on time and were done on time. We are storing our two bedroom condo’s contents for three weeks until our new residence is vacant. The guys managed to get it all, plus a small storage locker into a 20’ container to store it and until we need it delivered. They wrapped a lot of furniture in moving pads and took a lot of care loading. We recommended That Guy to the people we are purchasing from and based on our recommendation re the price and professionalism, they booked their packing and move the same day. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This company needs to take responsibility for their lack of organization. They tell you repeatedly that their drivers are “15 minutes away” however after almost 2 hours they slip up and say their staff didn’t show up and they were working on getting someone to my residence or they could reschedule for the next day (New Years eve). I take this option as I was sure I’d be waiting a few more hours. Then at almost 5pm on December 30th (the original day they were supposed to move us) they notify me that they will not be showing up for the appointment tomorrow and all they could recommend is that we call someone else. Don’t use this company if you want movers that show up.

The movers (Rob and Mitch) were terrific and did a cautious and efficient local move for us. However, when it came time to pay, they would not accept my personal cheque (a policy that was not expressed to me prior to moving) which forced me to use a credit card subjected to an additional "handling fee" of 3%, which I am certain is illegal in the eyes of the vendors agreement in doing business with card companies. After some discussion, it was agreed to not charge me the fee. I see now it was added to my card without my authorization and after the fact, days later. Poor business practices!!

Had That Guy Van Lines booked for my move on a Saturday morning. I had woke up at 4 am to meet them at the specific location between 9 & 10 to load up my belongings. At about 9:30 I received a call stating the truck had hit the ditch and they were unable to do my move. I asked the girl what they could do. She got snappy with me and told me there was nothing she could do for me and if I wanted to see for myself I could drive to Leduc to see the truck. I then asked if they had another truck or another day that they could move me, she replied with "there are other movers in Alberta". The girl was purely unprofessional and rude. So I was left stranded on a Saturday morning to find movers to move me.

I just wanted to let you and particularly "Ryan" - know that Ryan did an amazing job for me in both loading and unloading all my stuff carefully and competently at both ends of the move. Ryan arrived at my house in North Van at 8 am on Saturday Sept. 30th, but only one of the two swampers booked in Vancouver arrived at 9:30 a.m. due to a transit bus breakdown. Ryan and I moved most of the boxes ourselves and when the swamper arrived he did a really good job of helping Ryan with the big stuff. At this end - Ryan picked up Chris at your depot, and the two of them did an excellent job of unloading all my furniture and boxes without any damage to the furniture or to the walls of my new place. At this end - Ryan picked up Chris (I think that is the helper's name - that was also in North Vancouver for a move earlier that morning), and the two of them did an excellent job of unloading all my furniture and boxes without any damage to the furniture or to the walls of my new place on Black Mountain later Saturday afternoon.

Then 2 months ago they moved us from storage into our Kelowna condo. Once again we had 2 friendly and energetic guy's, who helped us schlep items from our other unit into the one as well. We still use them for storage needs. Nice that new yard is on concrete. Would recommend.

Had to move our stuff from Calgary to Vancouver! The office staff/lady was professional & got back to me on a timely manner about quotes and the whole process, what to expect. (They would call to give a time frame of when they would arrive for pickup, when movers will start travel (next morning) and a time frame of when they would arrive Sat OR Sun). All were within the time frames given. Movers who picked-up (Ryan & Charles) were great! Friendly & quick/careful with my things. Office staff were patient/great to deal with when I had a last minute address change before they traveled (for drop-off) as elevators were not able to be booked on-time in apt. building. Arrival was within the 2 hour time-frame as well and things were safe and sound! 3 movers were present in Vancouver, 2 of the movers were professional & friendly (The one older mover was very pushy/unprofessional as he was frustrated with the e-transfer not going through fast enough and he was "running behind" with other moves and swearing at times when frustrated in front of my husband). Only complaint is this company would benefit with more modern forms of payments for convenience of clients. They preferred Credit card info over the phone or E-transfer for deposits. (However, they accept cash if that's ok with you). E-transfer was ok--partial payment was delayed as my bank flagged them as "fraud" for a short amount of time. They may benefit from Paypal? or a way to pay online on their website? Overall good moving company, decent pricing, just some inconveniences along the way.

I moved with these guys a few years ago and everything was great. Last month I hired them again and the experience was horrific. Three of my boxes never arrived and they are still "looking for them". In total there's probably a few thousand $$ worth of valuables missing. I asked about reimbursement and they said they will look for the lost items for 6 months before processing an insurance claims. What a joke. I'm in the process of consulting a lawyer to pursue these criminals.

This company is GREAT! I phoned and emailed them lots. The ladies in the office were always friendly and answered all my questions. Email responses were always prompt. I couldn’t believe their quote, which was way lower than any of the other companies I called. AND That Guy Van Lines does not charge by weight! They gave me one price over the phone and stuck to it. I was a little worried about my move being in the winter - January. But BILL, the driver, showed up on Monday morning as scheduled. His two swampers, Chris and Gord, also were there. All 3 guys were experienced and organized my stuff for loading the truck efficiently. They also wrapped my furniture in blankets- wow! After loading Monday, Bill drove from Kamloops to Abbotsford to overnight. That was so helpful as I was constantly worried about the possibility of bad winter weather. Bill showed up on time Tuesday, and he had two local guys, Jeremiah and Dakota, to help him. They weren’t as experienced as Chris and Gord, but they worked hard. With guidance from Bill, they did a good job for us. Thank you That Guy Van Lines!

The weather was extremely hot and humid every day they were moving our belongings. I don't know how they did it! The movers were courteous, friendly and treated our belongings with care and in a professional manner. John and Cody just completed a complicated move for us, that involved two households with two reclining mechanical couches. They were constantly happy and polite and very focused on keeping our belongings from getting damaged. Even though they endured some injuries (which appeared painful), nothing stopped them from continuing along with their focus and attention to detail. Our walls didn’t get dinged and everything was wrapped and secured safely. At the end, they even walked through a snowy backyard with heavy bins to load my storage shed - never a single complaint. I have moved more than a dozen times and these guys were most definitely the best movers I’ve ever had. I highly recommend them. Thank you John and Cody. These guys were terrific. Picked up our ‘stuff’, (22,000 lbs) in Rocky Mountain House, AB delivered it it without anything broken....stored my husbands shop equipment while his shop was being built, then loaded it up and delivered it to us. It was very seamless and they were 1/3 the price of other quotes. Highly recommend. Our move was in 2015.

That Guy Van lines, they have the most reasonable prices for moving services. The cost includes everything like padding the furniture, loading, moving, unloading. I was very satisfied with their services. I would definitily recommend this company if you are planning to move out of province.
