May 6, 2021 Lindsay Movers & Storage 10 STAR, count them ********** REVIEW
We have to share our very positive experience with Lindsay Movers & Storage. We had a difficult move recently, difficult because we are older and needed to downsize from a rather large Victorian farmhouse, a 4000 sq. ft. workshop and a 2-1/2 acre property into a 1600 sq. ft. bungalow. So the move had to happen in two stages. First my shop machines, benches, shelving, equipment and inventory had to be moved to a storage locker. I booked Scugog Movers but at the last minute, they informed me that they could not move my machines which in our previous conversations they said they could, no problem. Now, suddenly, a week before the scheduled move, it was a problem. I called Lindsay Movers and they managed to get me a move date just a day later than originally planned which was fantastic and their quote was very good and I was very happy with the shop move. The guys were polite and professional and very good at what they do.
Next came the house move which was booked for Friday April 16th, the day after our new home closing date. We planned it that way so there would no closing day hiccups - what could so wrong. Well guess what - there were 5 house closings that day and the 1st one screwed up big time delaying all the subsequent closings leading up to our closing and when it came to ours at 10 minutes to the 5pm closing deadline, there was no time left!! Sh#%^%^t - what to do now - Lindsay movers were scheduled to arrive next day at 8:30am. I called Lindsay Movers to explain the situation, hoping we could still move the same day but perhaps later in the morning when we hoped to have the keys to the house however there was no guarranty of that. Lindsay Movers decided it was better to cancel the April 16th planned move and they would call me back when they figured out what to do saying there next available day was June 10th – that’s almost 2 months later- yikkes!?!?! Our new home purchase finally did close but until 1pm the next day and we didn't get the keys until 2pm. So Lindsay made the right call to cancel and when they me called back, they said that they had a moving crew willing to work on Saturday April 17th which is not normally a work day for them. We couldn't believe our luck and Lindsay Movers’ willingness to go the extra mile to make this move happen for us.
We couldn't be more thankful and we told LM how much this meant to us, hence this long, detailed 10 star review!
They were also better priced than the 6 other movers I had quote our move and they were the only company that sent out an estimator to size up our move which gave me tremendous confidence in their company.
Another factor to consider, since we were not going to move out of old home and move into new our new home on closing date which is normal as we were rightly concerned about closing delays, we managed our homeless days by staying in hotels for about 5 days during which our shop and house contents had to be stored somewhere. Normally, movers need their trucks every day and one moving company quoted $3000 extra because they would have to unload their trucks, put our stuff in storage and reload the trucks again on moving day. So you can see how much time this would take at $290 per hour plus the possibility of more damage and breakage in the extra unloading and reloading moves. Lindsay Movers use a container system, so once your items are loaded in a container, they can be drop off in the storage yard, freeing up their trucks for another move immediately. This gave us a much preferred storage option where our shop and house contents would not have to be handled any more than normal. The container daily storage charge was also very reasonable at $100 per day.
So all in all, we were delighted with Lindsay Movers & Storage as a thoughtful and caring company and with their professional and competent movers and moving services. We certainly recommend them and would use them again.
Sincerely, Gary Renaud
