I moved this week from Calgary to Toronto with AMJ Campbell, coordinated from the Calgary offices with Tara. Given the generally terrible reviews of all moving companies, I had low expectations. However, my experience with AMJ Campbell was very positive and I felt that it was important to share not only bad experiences but good ones. After an in-home quote (easy to arrange), the cost was exactly as quoted. I opted for the "own trailer" option (which does not require a weight and your items are sealed in your own half-size trailer, which minimizes risk of lost items) and packing services for a premium fee, but it allowed total control of timing of delivery and minimized my risk of lost items. I think there is less control if you choose a weight base shared trailer option. Both AMJ Calgary and AMJ Toronto were on time in arrival for packing and delivery (within 30 minutes!). Packing lasted 2.5 hours, and the movers were responsive to my requests (I asked to protect a corner in the house which gets damaged with moves and they wrapped it prior to moving the items out). Initially I had paid for unpacking but the movers in Toronto suggested it wasn't worth it so we contacted AMJ Calgary and they have indicated they will return that money (not yet received but the move happened just yesterday). In total, one glass cup was broken on packing due to slippery hands and there is one (1 cm) dent on a piece of furniture. Nothing was lost and nothing was smashed. I moved a full one + den room across the country and I count that as a win. Throughout the experience (months between the quote to the move), I was in regular contact with Tara and she was patient and responsive. I know I paid a premium as there are cheaper options out there, but for the experience I had, I definitely would do the same thing a second time if required.

Well, I was kinda afraid with the company's one star reviews here in google as My shipment was from Ont to alberta. I bought a Fairmont King bed and this company was the designated movers. Well, I can vouch that this company is the best I have ever experienced in Calgary. With their dispatchtracker app/link you can book your delivery date and time and on the day of delivery you can track the moving truck in real time So, the customers know how close they are to their house. Overall it was the smoothest process and experience and a big shout out to the dispatch team and Keith who helped my brother haul the super heavy king sized Bed in their room on the 2nd floor. Kudos AMJ! :)

We used AMJ Campbell for our recent office move. The Sales process was simple and straight forward. They were not the cheapest quote we'd gotten but service was more important to us then price. The Sales support provided by Mark and Sheila was excellent and the team that moved our office was prompt, on time, careful not to damage anything, and set up all our desks and shelving in the new office quickly and without incident. Best thing was they took away all our tech recycling for free. Love that. Would highly recommend AMJ to anyone. I intend to use them for my personal home move in the fall.

From the day I sent a request in for a quote, to having Tara come to my old apartment to check out what needed to be packed and moved, right through the actual day of my move when Jason and his crew packed and moved my one-bedroom apartment in a high-rise apartment building downtown and moved all of my furniture and belonging to my new condo, through to the next day when another crew from AMJ came to collect boxes and packing materials (and even took away cardboard from a furniture delivery for me!) - I can’t say enough positive things about my experience! I wish there were NO STARS also in Google! Pathetic company. I had a Costco return Mattress to be picked up by AMJ guys (Adam) and while the were picking up the scratched my laminate wood floor !! They were dragging the mattress for few metres which could have caused it. I spoke to AMJ guys in headquarters & a local AMJ Manager in Calgary (Carlos) and they completely disagreed and will not accept the blame..blah blah.. pathetic customer service! No value of customers... and I guess no value of what a Customer is worth ! I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY

Do not use this company for a personal move. We used them 7 years ago and had a great experience. This time was horrible. It was a total scam to just get as much money out of you as possible. They tell you that they will only use people who have a background check but then on the day of the move, they didn't send enough people, so it had to be outsourced to random friends of the movers (who ended up being better than AMJ!). They offer packing services but cost is based on the number of boxes packed. Notably they wrap EVERYTHING in five layers of paper. For example, they wrapped a placemat in paper. What a way to build up cost. The back office doesn't reconcile boxes packed properly so you have to be very diligent in checking those things. As mentioned, the move did not have enough staff so it took longer than estimated. Notably, the cost is based on the number of hours! Lastly, I paid for the additional insurance and when I went to file a complaint it was denied. The reason being? I signed off on the move at the end of the day. For clarity, I signed off on the move as I was told it was needed to be done to close off the move but I could follow up with any problems afterwards. In addition, it was my vacuum that was broken by the packers (they were unprofessional enough to plug the charger into the vacuum and then wrap it in layers of paper, which caused the port to snap). Obviously, on the day of the move I did not notice this but noticed it later that week and reported it immediately. I was advised that because I signed the form, the claim would be denied. What a scam. Please pay us for insurance, but then when you sign off on the form, we won't pay you. Please do not use this company, they do not deserve your business. They did not value my returning business!

Once again Tara and the team at AMJ has come through for us. We have moved several times within and between provinces, and internationally with AMJ, and every now and then we have a ‘special’ job that no one really wants. We have worked with Tara three times: she is a logistics manager and a problem solver. Sometimes things just don’t go how we plan and Tara handles these setbacks with confidence and grace – she has always found a solution for us. On this last move, Chaz and his team were respectful to our family and of our home and most importantly, safety conscious. We recommend Tara at AMJ: no one can guarantee an incident free move: But Tara, and her team, will find an amenable solution for anything that may arise.

This is the worst company ever. When they packed the stuff everything was fine but moving the stuff Is a whole different story. They say that it will come on September 13th and even on September 13th the shipment still doesn't come. After that I call them and the shipment has not even been moved countries yet. I calculated it and should only take 5 hours just to ship it but but for some reason it takes more than a month. Even now I'm still waiting.

AMJ Campbell moved my belongings from Halifax, NS to Calgary, AB. I had a lot of stuff for a one bedroom apartment, and they were quite helpful and pleasant to work with, while giving me a slightly competitive price. The main gentleman I dealt with to book my move even went above and beyond what I had expected by dropping off extra packing supplies he knew I would appreciate as a recently-returned-to-post-secondary-broke-student. I would use them again for sure.

Don't be fooled by the sales pitch! In the end we felt conned by a salesman. We should of gone with "Two Guys With A Truck". They were late picking up. They were late delivering. Promised "to take a chunk off the bill" which never happened. We emailed and called mutiple times with slow response times and usually we were left in the dark. The manager said we (the customer) shared blame for their lack of internal communication. They tried to bill us more for having our stuff delivered, after I tracked down the where abouts of my stuff.They invoiced us over the estimated amount. It took almost a month to receive a final invoice and an account for the weight of our shipment after requesting it a handful of times. AMJ Campbell may be a household name, but they are franchised. The level of professionalism and customer service will be varied by location. Word of advice: don't go with this one.

TLDR but... We have had three dealings with this company over the last couple of months and none of them were good. The first experience (delivery): they were on time however the two men were very inconsiderate, left scuffs on our walls, damaged the table we were having delivered and scratched our hardwood. The second experience (delivery): we had a scheduled time and they called halfway through the day telling us they were going to be late. When we said we would be gone by the time they told us they could show up they were suddenly able to come earlier (still not our original delivery time) and then still showed up late! It was rain/snowing when they finally did show up and when we asked if they had any furniture pads to lay down so they didn't get water and mud through the house they said we should have something and were rude about it. The were not apologetic nor were they polite. The third experience (pickup): we decided not to deal with delivery guys any more and to pick up our items from the warehouse. When we arrived (at our scheduled time) someone was taking one of our chairs out of the box so he could show it to two other customers who were there. When we said we wanted to take all of the items out to make sure none of them were damaged (since they had been taking items out to show them to random people) they seemed really annoyed and said we could easily do that at home. When we asked 'if something were damaged if they would come pick up to return it' they said 'no, that we would have to bring it back ourselves'. After checking the items over we packed up our truck, without any help, and left.

Very disappointed in the customer service I received. I had asked for a quote from the BBB website in regards to a small office moving company and was contacted by AMJ Campbell. The gentlemen contacted me and scheduled a quick viewing of the items that we needed to be moved, as well as I had provided them a small moving inventory list as well . Since our items would already be packed and prepared for the move I assumed this was an easy ordeal. The AMJ representative missed the appointment due to one of their other appointments that had which was a large move had taken a bit longer (completely understandable). I was understanding until I was told that it’s not their fault and “what did I expect for scheduling a move 12 days before the move date.” I was not being argumentative or unreasonable but was shocked that I was being blamed for the company representative missing an appointment. I didn’t understand why the conversation was being taken in a hostile direction when I was trying to be reasonable and spoke in a calm tone. Please don’t use this company unless you can give them a few years’ notice for move. This was uncalled for, rude and completely unprofessional. I would expect much more from a BBB accredited company.

I am very pleased by the service I received from the AMJ Campbell movers both at the point of loading and delivery. They were on time on both ends. The movers took great care of my homes as well as all of my contents. All goods arrived in excellent condition. Their prices weren't the lowest I was quoted, but there was no "bait and switch" shenanigans. The coordinating was accurate and the quote was actually higher than the final total, which was a pleasant surprise. Kudos to Barry and the moving crew in Calgary and John the cross-border truck driver for making this move seamless. I would use them again and recommend them without hesitation.

We contacted AMJ Campbell about shipping our product to California, we had a lot of special requests regarding the shipment and initially, were really looking for that white glove service. With one call to the office I had answers within two hours. Patrick and his team went out of their way to coordinate the shipment for us and kept themselves at the ready for when we were ready to ship. Answers were quick and the level of service and accessibility provided by the team was like no other in the industry. In the end we decided to ship LTL - but with the level of service we received just coordinating the shipment with Patrick and his team I have no doubt that we would have been more than pleased at the other end of the transaction. I will be recommending AMJ Campbell as the North American Moving Company that truly does go the extra mile for their clients!!

Provide false information during delivery about time period of insurance claim which cost me lots. They will convince you not to open all the boxes at time of delivery and tell you have 3months to report any damage for international shipment without knowing any details of the insurance. However, when you claim , they will blatantly deny and tell it is your responsibility to talk and settle with Insurance company whereas Insurance was provided by them. Never ever going to use this company in future and my advice never believe on their sales/other commitment.

Had a super crew. They worked well together, teaming up when needed and working hard on their own. Mats were carefully placed to protect hardwood floors moving out and moving in. We had done significant prep work for them, beds dismantled, boxes labelled and colour coded, and they appreciated how that made it much easier for them to do their job well. Two examples of their care and attention: 1. We packed our china cabinet, and then the crew wrapped it carefully in blankets and moved it out on a dolly to the truck. At the new house it was moved back in and unwrapped. Quite the surprise when we found two champagne glasses, unbroken, inside! We had missed the glasses when we packed it, but they survived the move inside the cabinet! 2. The crew also moved our tall upright piano up from our basement, through a very narrow stairwell. I had taken the wheels off of the piano, but there was still only an inch of clearance on the height of the piano. With skid plate, and special straps, the crew of four used a significant amount of muscle in a very small space to lift the piano, unscathed and in tune. Bravo! When I was quoted the price, it was an hourly rate and set at 8 hours for a crew of four. This crew did it in less than eight, but that was because of their amazing work ethic. I am sure other companies with other crews, would have taken longer and charged more. I was happy to pay the quoted price (and added some beverage money for the crew). I cannot speak for all crews at AMJ Campbell, but the crew that worked my move was top notch, and I would not hesitate to hire them again. Well done!

I had the VERY unfortunate opportunity of crossing paths with John and Susan. My move was a total disaster with them and I have moved several of times so know what to expect when hiring professional movers...which these people definitely are not. So much MAJOR damage to dozens of items which they said they would pay for and never did, but rather chose to ignore my email requests and repeated phone calls. Most of the damage was due to VERY poor and disorganized packing with insufficient packing materials. I also found out afterwards that 1/2 way through my storage period my household was moved into a different storage unit without my approval or knowledge causing yet more significant damage. There was also substantial damage to my walls during the unload. I ended up paying close to $1000 to furniture repair technicians and a painter to fix the damages. They were always late, never finished on time, tried to over charge me, left pop cans and empty pizza boxes in my home, left a substantial amount of mud on my floors, and they "forgot" to pack numerous items. This is mostly due to the fact there was no supervision as John decided to sleep in the cab of the moving truck for most of the unload rather than making sure that things flowed smoothly. I was appalled that he didn't even have any food or drink for his workers, wife, or small son so I went and bought everyone lunch and drinks. They never even brought enough runners to protect my floors...what kind of movers would show up with 3 runners for a 4000sq ft home?? Apparently they "forgot" to bring them. They also conveniently forgot to unload my mountain bike and I had to ask several times to get it back. There was no tagging or numbering of boxes and they have absolutely no quality control processes. The only strict "process" John has is that you have to pay him before he'll open the doors on the moving truck. Was very nice to get that call 1 hour before they were supposed to arrive that I needed to transfer them funds before they would even unlock the moving van. John claims its according to some "law". Of course no other professional mover I've ever used felt it necessary to abide by John's bogus laws. I think he does this because he knows his clients will have absolutely no recourse in dealing with the damages of his sloppy moving company. And speaking of moving vans - I was embarrassed when he pulled up in front of my home with an array of dirty trucks and shotty trailers. He had no where near the capacity to handle my move and should have declined the job - even though his visually inspected my house before the move and I completed an array of checklists of all my items when requesting a quote. Moving is stressful enough and they made the whole experience so much worst. They are two of the most unprofessional and unethical people I have ever met. I was truly disgusted with them and want to warn anyone against hiring them.

Recently completed my 2nd cross-country move with AMJ and happy to say the care of my items was top notch. I did run into a problem with the weight estimate being significantly lower than actual. This was largely due to COVID inhibiting normal practices. However, once I reached the right level of customer service, I was promptly refunded the overage cost. This was much appreciated. Initially, I debated whether or not to hire AMJ Campbell to move my mom's furniture back to my house after my mom passed. I thought I could save a few dollars by going with a smaller, less well known moving company. After seeing the horror story on Global news tonight, boy am I ever glad I chose not to do that! There was no damage to my mom's belongings and no damage to my house, either. Mike Rooks' team (lead hand Jason with Cory assisting) were so kind and helpful. They covered my floors and carpet and manoeuvered some big pieces around a tight stairway with two 45 degree turns and 14 stairs! Peace of mind and no hassles is worth the extra money. My time is worth something, too. Many thanks, guys.

The movers took all precautions to prevent damage to the house, no damages to any furniture or boxes, and were very friendly and helpful. Very quick crew and happy while working. They followed directions in motion as to where items were to be placed. The only issues I have is when setting up the bedroom suite, it was not finished, correctly and the mirrors on the dressers were not put back on.. They seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere else. And the truck was definitely to small for the load, which left more than a few good loads for me to get everything to the new location. Would I recommend AMJ to friends.. YES, of course I would Hell, with a few small things corrected , I would have bought the company...!!!

This was my daughters’ and my first experience with hiring professional movers and while initially I was hesitant and nervous given that we would be placing our cherished belongings in the trust of others, I am so very pleased that we hired AMJ to help us out on November 30th! It’s important to note that after interviewing 4 Companies that we considered to hire, I felt the most comfortable and safest with AMJ given we are two single females and their Movers are permanent employees that have been checked before setting foot into any home. Mike Rooks took great care in detailing everything and reassuring us they were the people for the job and always responded to my enquiries promptly. Mike also made sure that we weren’t lacking for anything; boxes, labels and/or advice. Ashmeen was very pleasant to deal with and made the finalizing of our Contract a smooth process. This move although local was not an ordinary one as both my daughter and myself lived in separate residences in different quadrants of the city and my request was to have both picked up consecutively with the same truck and then brought to a common shared residence where again, they would need to separate our belongings as we were moving into a suited house. We did our best to pack, prep and label all our belongings but as normal, not everything goes according to plan. The four men initially moving us, those being Kyle, Brandon, Brian and Dave were kind, considerate, attentive, careful and above all else, professional. I was blown away with what they accomplished in 7.5 hours and given the fact that the original plan was that they should have been able to fit it all on their largest truck, I had several outdoor items that messed with their system and didn’t allow for this configuration and they ended up having to call in another awesome man; Justin and, another truck. At the end of the day, before signing the final Invoice for their services we were advised they would not be charging us any extra for the additional man and truck. Well, you can imagine our relief as we’re not financially well off and can certainly appreciate the value of good movers so we were very grateful to hear this! The guys did a tremendous amount of work and didn’t hesitate to offer their assistance when they would see my daughter or I struggle with an item. Thank you so very much to all of you for your hard work, great attitudes and professionalism! My daughter and I will definitely recommend you and although we hope we don’t move again anytime soon, we look forward to dealing with you again in the future! Take care and all the best!!

***EDIT*** It has been 1 week since my initial review when they gave their standard "we are sorry" response to this review, and then have NOT followed up at all. I have emailed them at their supplied email address below, with no response. Which is what I expected given their track record. Original review below: We moved cross country in February and used AMJ Campbell as our moving company. The process on the beginning of our journey was good, but very quickly fell apart once we reached our destination. We had scheduled packing and unpacking for which they never scheduled the unpacking service. I had to call and argue to get them to even show up for this. We soon found many issues such as: all the shelves for our freezer were missing, they didn’t put either of our desks back together properly, and there was furniture broken in the move. When I called to inform them of all the issues they gave me a number and said call here, to which I have been unsuccessful in achieving any solution to our issues. The unprofessionalism that I encountered with this move has baffled me. I would not ever recommend this company. I have given ample time to try and reach a solution to which I am met with silence from the company. I would find a different company to deal with.

I wish to highly commend the 2 movers that did a move -in to our building today. These 2 young men Josh Rigby and Eric were an absolutely amazing team. Since this is a condominium complex with only one elevator, these young men not only worked efficiently, however, also in between loads were very considerate and respectful to the seniors that had to get on board. Firstly, this review is not based on hiring this company. It's based on a driving incident on Deerfoot trail. One of the AMJ vans came within a foot of my bumper on Deerfoot on February 9th at 2:30 pm. The plate was on the top of the trailer so I didn't get the full license plate... it was something like A-4711. I was looking at the bottom of the trailer for the plate. I also didn't see the driver, but the young, white male passenger was extremely unprofessional in his gestures towards myself and my three year old boy. (Feb 9th was the 50 car pile up day on Stoney Trail) I merger from a snow covered 4th lane doing about 85-90 km/hr (the speed of traffic in the 3rd right lane of Deerfoot at the time). I was well in front to the AMJ vehicle... at least a couple hundred meters, but I was going slower than him. My merging at a slower speed from a snow covered lane enraged the lunatic driver. He caught up to me about 30-60 seconds later and changed lanes about a foot from my bumper almost hitting another vehicle in the adjacent lane. I couldn't do a 100 km/hr... the people in front on me were only doing 90 km/hr. Regardless, he had plenty of time to change lanes before getting to me.. instead he decided to endanger my life and my 3 year old boys because of some crazy rage induced fit and everyone else around us for absolutely no reason at all. I will never hire this company for a move. I will not willing let rage filled, reckless, irresponsible young man into my home. If I had seen the driver's face, I would have reported this incident to the police.

My belongins were carefully wrapped and packed, the driver, Ray, offered updates on arrival time, etc. I am so happy someone recommended AMJ to me and I would definitely use their services again for any move. Our experience with AMJ was exceptional, starting with Tara. She was very professional and organized, not to mention a fun and out going young lady. The gentleman who moved us were awesome . Tyler, Kris and Matt packed up our home in Calgary, they were as careful with our belongings as if they were theirs. Upon their arrival in Kelowna, they were a Little later than they hoped and were unable to unload that evening, but what they did do for us was, which was beyond the call of duty, they came all the way out here and unpack our bed! We slept like babies that night !Tyler and Kris then returned the following morning to unload. Tyler is such a gentle sole and Kris a really nice young man. Hands down the best moving experience ever!!!!!

First of all, this is not a negative review about the movers on the ground - they were very professional, courteous and worked hard for our move. However, our experience with head office could not have been worse. First of all, the estimator underestimated our total weight (because you're charged by weight) by approximately 40%. While I know many moving companies do this, the quantum of this miss was too much. I would think that 10-20% would be appropriate, this was WAY more than that. Then, on moving day their truck couldn't get up the hill to our house. Now, it was in South Calgary which has some reasonably steep hills. However, the house is in the same location it was when the estimator came to do her work. There was snow on this day, and the truck simply couldn't get in. So, without consultation or discussion, they swapped out the big truck for something smaller that could get in to our location. Fine...until I got the bill for an extra $2500 due to the swap - no notice for the charge, no discussion. THEN, my visa was charged the full amount of the increased charge without any discussion. I did receive a bill, but my visa had already been charged by that point. For context, we were expecting ~$5000 and the total ended up being a bit over $7500, approximately 50% more than expected - I guess I would have expected some discussion before just going ahead and charging my card. Finally, when I was done with our sales representative and requested to speak with a manager that never happened. Don't know if our sales rep just didn't refer it or if management just didn't think it was worthwhile to follow up. Either way, I've had to resort to other means to try to get some of our money back. Movers 10/10. Head office 1/10. Have already encouraged several people not to use the service and will continue this effort. Not only would I not recommend AMJ, I would strongly urge against it.

Two guys came in, rude and unprofessional, refused to do their job, only after I spent 15 minutes talking to their back office they reluctantly agreed to carry my furniture inside the house, scratched my walls - some of them are not reparable, not taking care to do the job accurately. Left without saying a word of thanks or sorry. Do not use this company.

I used AMJ after being referred to them by a university colleague who had used them for business moves in the past. I moved from Southern Alberta (Lethbridge) to Cambridge ON at the beginning of March. I worked with Mike Rooks in the Calgary office and had a phenomenal experience. Mike talked to me on the phone and gave me a price estimate for my 1 bedroom apartment (bedroom suite, couch and kitchen table) and I was able to confirm a pick up for 9 a.m. the Monday of my move. Ryan (the driver) showed up right on time and was an absolute pleasure to work with. I packed things myself, and they simply tagged it with a sticker and loaded it up. Ryan called me twice with an updated timeline of when he would arrive and was actually a few days ahead of schedule. I would say the only difficult thing was that once things were on the truck there was not a way to stay informed, and communication became a little difficult. Thankfully the team got back to me quickly over email (though I did pester them) and my items were unloaded (all accounted for an undamaged) without any problems. Would definitely recommend them, and work with them again. Thanks guys!

Ontario to Alberta: Horrible estimates, they were way off and changed prices multiple times without informing. Estimator was thousands of pounds off and charged thousands of dollars more without informing or consent. Company did not care about bad reviews or being upset just wanted the money. Horrible customer service and customer retention, could not care less about any issues once paid, threatened to hold belongings. Tons of items damaged and broken. Will update review upon how they deal with thousands of dollars of damaged stuff. Do not believe their quotes if they are under a competitors, would recommend almost anyone else. All other competitors quotes were "higher" but ended up being significantly cheaper. Management should be fired, spineless and useless.

Everyone was very pleasant and efficient. They were prompt and very helpful in loading and unloading. When they arrived at my home in Kelowna, they did a tour of my condo and storage area. They were very helpful in bringing everything in and placing the boxes in appropriate rooms and also in arranging my furniture where I asked. I would highly recommend AMJ Campbell. I was told they would pick up the boxes and wrapping paper. Someone is supposed to come next week to remove those items for me.

Warehouse staff was helpful. However, the signage in front of the building entrance for Create&Barrel pick up should be clearer. It SHOULD include the exact door number to look for around the far back area. The existing signage does not show much detail. Pick up location is confusing! I hope this would be fixed.

This is the second time we've had Mike and the gang from Calgary take care of things for us. We got packing services this time and the packers and movers arrived when the dispatcher said they would. We ran into trouble with our accomodations here in Winkler and rather than having to rent storage, unload our belongings then hire a local mover when we got possession of our house Mike arranged alternative transport with AMJ's affiliate King's Transport in Winnipeg. Our belongings were moved onto another truck and delivered to our house the day we took possession at the time specified by the dispatcher all for a nominal fee. We will never use anyone but AMJ Campbell for moving
