AMAZING experience. Communication was excellent, the move was smooth, they were friendly and funny, and overall we had a great move. The pricing was VERY expensive though. Compared to other movers it was actually ridiculous. We had friends who moved from Toronto who paid $800 total, and our trip was nearly $1500 only from Burlington to Hamilton. My suggestion is they review their pricing.

Was rushed trying to get a move scheduled in 2 weeks and Smart Movers pulled through! Paid $1250 for a cross provincial move from Quebec to Ontario for an ultra light move. (was just 5 boxes of goods, no TV or furniture or anything) Customer support was super friendly and did lots of follow up calls to double check with me on the quote and price and everything. The head of the delivery crew was kind of rude but all of his staff was really kind and chatted with me a bit while doing the delivery. No hidden fees afterwards or anything either, paid exactly what they quoted + tax. Everything ended up getting to my apartment safely thanks for everything!

I moved in the middle of an ice storm. Everything else I knew was canceled due to poor weather and road conditions. The guys from this company were rock stars!! They moved quickly and efficiently regardless of the ice that blanketed everything (walking was difficult), they touched base with me throughout the entire move with professionalism and maintained a positive disposition. I was afraid that the move was going to be a disaster or at the very least super expensive but it still came out to be exactly what I was initially quoted. I would definitely recommend this company. They are more per hour but in the end it cane out to be pretty much the same as cheaper hourly companies. Thank you so much for making a potentially disastrous move a breeze!!

I've moved across the country three times, and I've made a number of local moves, so I have some experience here. Movers have a bad reputation--justifiably so. They're notorious for lateness, laziness, breakage, and theft (the old weighing the final load and holding your goods hostage on the truck routine: beware AMJ Campbell--they're the worst crooks). Not these guys. Three guys arrived pretty close to on time. And they worked with good spirits for 12.5 hours almost non-stop. It was a tough move and they did it right. No breakage. They were kind and respectful. And, overall, it was a value.

They were very knowledgeable on how to move some of my more bulky furniture items as king bedroom set and large office desk. I did receive all the services that I requested. Ok I was nervous at first that these guys would take their sweet time, damage my stuff, and possibly leave with the whole load. This is my first time hiring movers and I will 100% be recommending them to everyone! Vlad, Georgie and Yegor showed up almost a full 30 minutes early and got to work -- they were basically running up and down the flight of stairs we have, carrying the heaviest of things with ease. They were polite and done under the time they quoted! Such an awesome team!

Poor customer service and I hadn’t even booked anything yet, ... asked for a quote, the lady on the phone gave me individual pricing packages and a lot of other information, so I asked for an estimate for 4 hours with 2 movers, and she didn’t wan’t to give me an estimate, then questioned my math skills, so I just hung up lol UPDATE: the owner (a different person than whom I spoke with earlier) called later in the day to apologize, I appreciate him trying to fix this, so I changed from 1 star to 3 stars and this review is from customer support ONLY, I haven’t used their moving services, so this review is based on a phone experience (and “a miscommunication”) with one of the employees who answered the phone

We used this company for a move at the end of July 2020. The actual team sent out were two friendly and efficient individuals. My poor review has to deal with the office manager, she is abrupt and quite rude. I called to check in on the location of the truck as it had not arrived after two hours (45 minute drive from one location to the other taking into account the slower truck a 30 minute drive by car all available on google maps). On the first call she did not listen to my concerns and spoke over the top of me repeatedly. Eventually she said she could check the GPS and get back to me. Her return call was 40 minutes later (by which point the moving crew had already called me) and said the the crew had stopped for lunch. The following interaction was nothing short of absurd, on several occasions she yelled, again was not interested in listening to me but would rather yell over the top. I suggested I speak with her manager instead as she was unwilling to have a conversation, her response was to hang up on me and have the work crew stop work. My belief is that she told her manager something about a customer not wanting to pay, which was never in question. My concern was a 45 minute trip taking double the time. As she had said the truck had GPS, I suggested that she use what was available to understand what had happened and why it had taken so long. Her response was again to yell and also say that I may drive to fast but their drivers could not, I agreed that the truck must go slower and as she had GPS tracking it would be easy for her to look into it. Her response was that she couldn't do that as they did not have the technology, despite telling me to the minute how long the lunch break had taken. In every interaction I had with her one the phone her tone was aggressive and language abusive. The lunch break was more then understandable however the extra time was concerning. The moving crew connected me to an individual that I assume was her manager, and his only concern was payment, as this was never an issue they completed the work. I truly hope that a bad day prompted this very odd behaviour however simple common courtesy and not yelling at customers is generally the way good businesses are run. I would not recommend using this company at all.

Had them come to my house in Brantford to my office in Brampton, (91km), (3 bedroom 1500 sqft bungalow), quoted 1500-1800.00 and ended up charging $3175.00, and showed up an hr late thus having to sit in Rush Hr !!!! Then I sent 2900 email transfer had to wait because of the size of the transaction, held my stuff for ransom.... while my fiance sent them the remainder but was not at home at the time. Be cautious with these people. Claimed I sent the money to the wrong person which I did not. Have all the proof, plus all the while embarrassing me at my place of work, used foul language etc. The movers at my house however were very friendly.i left stuff in my room winter jackets as I moved to Quebec to get away from covid. And 1 guy didn't speak English packing up my clothing and jackets thus costing me another 1,000 in new coats. Pillows etc.

It was absolutely the worst moving experience ever. The movers were not professional or efficient at all. We have a four bedroom (with one empty) home to move. It took them half an hour to plan the loading and another half hour to plan the unloading. It took them 5 hours to load the truck (basically only furniture), and we had to leave a lot of things to move ourselves later as they were so slow (it would probably have taken 15-20 hours to move everything). AND they left dents, scratches, scuff marks, on my walls and floors. They seemed not to care at all. The moving truck had no company logo on it, and the movers said that they were not from SMART MOVERS. So I called the company, and the lady that answered said that the movers are from Smart Movers; if they said they were not that's because my English was poor, and they could not understand my question: "Are you guys from SMART MOVERS?" I have been living in Canada for over 20 years and with 19 years of professional experience. Now I am told that I could not even speak proper English? I told the lady that this is my first time using SMART MOVERS and definitely the last time. Then the lady hung up on me and phoned the movers and instructed them (within our earshot) not to unload until I paid them. I never heard of a moving company where I have to pay before unloading. The mover said that my husband signed the contract which said that we have to pay before unloading. Who would read that very small fine print on a stressful moving day? Plus, my husband’s eyesight is not perfect, and he needs a magnifying glass to read tiny letters. I tried to call the office again- nobody even answered- and the answering machine was full that I had no way to leave a message. Then I heard that the movers were on the phone with the company talking in another language. Eventually they agreed to continue to unload but we had to pay them halfway through. Smart Movers probably contracted out to these guys; we had moved 4 times in the past, and they are by far the worst. If you are looking for a professional moving company, STAY AWAY from SMART MOVERS.

Not what I expected!! :( We moved earlier this summer. We were told an estimate of 4-5 hours to move a 4 bdrm house in the same neighbourhood. There was nothing fancy about our move. The truck arrived 15 minutes after the arrival time range. 9 hours later, the 3 guys were still moving our things into the truck. We had to call a couple friends to help finish the job. Smart Movers charges by the hour, so we know who won... and who lost. The guys who came were pleasant and they took reasonable care of our possessions. This is why they get 2 stars from me, not 1. Smart Movers seems to be affiliated with several other small moving companies based around SW ONT. The truck and the guys were from Toronto (so much for staying local). I would not recommend them at all, despite all the great reviews I read.

Pretty horrible experience, if I could give less than 1star I would. They had to be the least qualified , underprepared and motivated movers I have ever seen, it took them (3 men) 7+hours to move a 3 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom house 10 mins up the street!! They also damaged ,scratched or scuffed multiple pieces of furniture and the house in the process. All this while charging $125/hr plus $150 for the truck! I would and will never recommend this company to anyone, so if you're reading this, go with another company!

Recently hired Smart Movers, they were punctual and professional confirming the day before. When the movers arrived I had everything relatively organized for them to move, signed the contract- which I did feel rushed to complete. I had originally let the movers know that the elevator was not in service, they did not say that there was an issue. After they moved one load, they asked if it could be- I would have set this up if it was asked of prior (it's a small building and not many folks use the elevator & I'm only the second floor, so approximately 10 stairs were also brought to their attention). Anyway, get the elevator on service, things going well, I was downstairs supervising the front door and truck while my mom was upstairs in the unit. My mum had come downstairs in a slight panic as they had started to take my bed frame apart. I went upstairs, and they stated it was too big (I've fit larger furniture in the elevator and didn't want to waste time taking it apart if it didn't need to be). They measured, however again I was given a rude toned response. I will say the movers wrapped all of my furniture wonderfully, but would have appreciated the blanket being left around my larger furniture (again just wasting time wrapping and unwrapping instead of offering I buy them like I had planned). Move forward, I was moving my furniture to a storage unit and in the process of them rushing me I wrote down the wrong address (the correct one had been provided at time of booking) and I told the movers the intersection it was located at. I felt terrible of course that they went to the wrong one (which was less than 10 minutes away), however again received a lot of attitude. Before the began unloading the truck they wanted payment, as I have not used this company before and they were responsible for moving my items plus the amount of attitude I was already receiving, I ended up paying. The next part is a reason they went from 4/5 to 3/5 stars. As I was going to my car to get the money to pay them (they charge cash or 4% extra if paying by credit card), the guy- who had been giving the attitude and rude tone all day- actually said "and don't forget the tip". I understand that these guys are working hard and they probably get ripped off from tips from others, but to say that as an expectation is disgusting. As well, since they charged me before they were done, they projected it would take 4 hours- but it only took 3.5 hours; as well was informed that the manager would send a receipt the next day when I asked for one. I am still waiting for a receipt and will be calling shortly if I have not received it. All in all, they were productive and for the rate, they were what you would expect, however the lack of customer service was astounding.

Smart Movers helped us move earlier this year. It was a really big job! These guys worked unbelievably hard... I was a little concerned they would hurt themselves going so fast and not taking breaks! Like everyone else says; no damages, on time, the estimated time was right, friendly, guys seemed happy to help. While moving us, they accepted a call to go help someone else after our move!
